There's just something about Floyd being unhinged in fics that just gets me.

Like yes he gets portrayed as a sweet frail uwu boi most of the time, which is also niceee and all, and would also suit his sensitive title. But then there are fics where Floyd is absolutely off the rails at times; where Floyd is nearing losing his voice being the loudest in a shouting match, where Floyd nearly bites someone's head off in anger, where Floyd tries to sneak out of his room multiple times even when his body still very much recovering from greeting his grandma, where Floyd wrestles with his brother on the floor because he's about to do impulsive sht for the people he cares about, fics where Floyd absolutely LOSES HIS SHIT

And the best part is that none of it is out of character for him at all. In fact, it'd cement his title as the sensitive one even more. Being sensitive isn't just about sad and mopey. Sometimes its about being nuts, and paranoid, and being impulsive when your loved ones are in danger and being so so angry that you'd yell and cry from the frustration. Not that he's always feral and wild- because he's def the one to mediate most of the time, but in situations where his loved ones are in danger, I just love when he's unapologetically emotional in every aspect about it, when he's sobbing and yelling without abandon.

There's something about Floyd in fics letting his emotions speak in such a powerful, feral way that gets me.

I was thinking about the parallels between the two times in CATWS where Steve takes off his helmet when facing an opponent, and I found them interesting.

First he feels like he needs to prove something to Batroc, the pirate he's been ordered to apprehend. At his goading, he puts away his shield and takes his helmet off 🤦

I feel like he does this out of a misplaced sense of pride, or fairness, or cockiness? Dude took a bunch of SHIELD personnel hostage and Steve agrees to play his game/indulge him. "I thought you were more than just a shield," Batroc says, so Steve puts away his shield and helmet to face him not as Captain America, but as Steve Rogers. To prove him right-- that Steve was more than a symbol, a lackey of his masters, and he didn’t need the shield to win. Which was, in my humble opinion, unnecessary in regards to finishing the mission, and also put him in danger.

Or maybe he did it partly to stick a middle finger up at SHIELD itself? The organization he joined to help people but didn’t tell him anything important and treated him like an asset instead of a person? On the books, he’s Captain America, but ultimately he will do things Steve Rogers’ way. And Batroc literally asked to meet Steve Rogers, so here he is!

And then... he does the same thing with Bucky. He takes his helmet off and flings his shield away without a second thought-- but without Bucky having to ask. Kind of like the opposite of when he faced Batroc, who asked to meet the man behind the symbol, Steve takes his mask off without prompting because he desperately needs Bucky to see his real self.

He wore his old Captain America uniform in the hopes that it would jog Bucky's memory. But it was only after he tossed the symbols aside-- the helmet and the shield-- and faced (or rather, surrendered to) Bucky with open arms as Steve Rogers, that Bucky truly recognized him, Steve won, and Hydra lost.

It was Steve Rogers who was bloody and beaten all to hell with multiple bullet wounds and still repeating Bucky's words of devotion back to him. It was Steve Rogers who Bucky swore to follow into the jaws of death, not Captain America. And it was Steve Rogers who Bucky dove after and saved from the river, even when the Winter Soldier barely remembered him.

Both times Steve took off his helmet and put away his shield to fight an opponent, he won. The first time was unnecessary-- he could have beaten Batroc as Captain America-- but it was important to him personally that he faced him as Steve.

With the Winter Soldier though, I don't think Steve would have won and gotten through to Bucky had he not thrown the trappings of Captain America aside. Sure, maybe he could have captured or knocked Bucky out had he been willing to hurt him, but he wasn't. As soon as his main mission was over (saving 750k people), his personal quest to get Bucky to remember him took precedence. It was a goal Steve Rogers would have died for, and he nearly did. (A good thing that his best friend was still there, and that Bucky waded in and pulled Steve out of trouble like he always did.)

I guess what I found interesting was, the first time Steve took his helmet off and put aside his shield, it was for pride. The second time, it was for love.

(and actually, there are signs of it even before that. like when you run into kratos in sybak and supposedly zelos doesnt know him at all but he still takes a moment to loudly go "omg fuck this guyyyyy" once kratos has left the scene and it's just ertghrteguhireg. zelos actually makes a couple more efforts to have lloyd trust kratos as little as possible. meanwhile theres that character skit in the flanoir area where kratos warns lloyd that there may be "someone in his group with ill intentions be careful no i won't elaborate bye" or whatever. all while k and z are presumably routinely in voice chat arguing over kratos' ridiculous grocery list. what a mess. both of them.) i unironically love it fr. i think it both makes perfect sense from a character perspective, and is hilarious. also it's nice to have one dude be openly hostile towards kratos. what can i say, i live for drama.

so anyway im glad we can all agree that the iselia ranch is a missed opportunity for an absolute train wreck of a skit that should have have happened but didnt.

Johnny and Fighting

Johnny was excited to be given a fight scene. Look at him, he was so happy!

And that was before he knew it was a dance scene, so he thought it was an actual fight/stage combat scene.

And I know it’s never confirmed or anything but it would make sense if he was excited since he was good at sparring. If it was something he liked and already knew. 

Especially when we see Rosita’s and Meena’s reactions to Johnny’s excitement. They don’t seem surprised, in fact they kinda seem more in the category of “of course you are playing the role, this is a perfect fit”. And judging by how close Johnny is with both of them, treating them like close friends/family throughout the movie, they would probably know about his love of boxing/sparring.

We see the boy boxing a bit (very half heartedly but a lot had just happened) in Sing 1 but this reaction to hearing his scene leans towards him actually enjoying it. 

And who do we see boxing for fun in Sing 1? Marcus, Johnny’s father.

Maybe it was a way for him and Marcus to bond. It would have been something they both liked. Sparring and fighting would have been a way for him to have something in common with his dad, and he was so excited to be able to show that off.

I just watched Arjun: the warrior prince and I just want to say THE PLOT TWIST WAS LEGENDARY

listen. i want kim’s head on a platter, too. he deserves to be bonked on the head by tankhun for what he did to chay.

HOWEVER. while his initial choice to approach and string on chay are questionable at best and punishable by severe bonking at worst, logically, he made the right choice by distancing himself from him. no, he shouldn’t have let it get this far, but he didn’t know what he was getting himself into with chay and he wasn’t counting on developing feelings for him.

despite “officially” not being a part of the family, he still has ties to them. hell, he busted in to save chay just an episode ago. he is still very much part of the mafia world, whether he wants to be or not and chay is yet another tie to it now. chay already got kidnapped because he’s porsche’s brother, kim doesn’t want to be the reason chay gets in serious harm. a heartbreak, he can get over. whatever the mafia world might do to him, not so much.

kim obviously cares for chay and is attached. he’s a lonely person, just like chay; the difference is that chay took the opportunity to change that without hesitation because he craves love and affection, while kim is reluctant to accept or extend this love because of who he is. his cold mafia prince persona is just that — a persona, an exterior he adapted to shield himself from further harm. he managed to, some extent, escape a world that’s pretty much inescapable and now he’s trying to shield himself. and others, or at least that’s what he thinks he’s doing.

while chay technically is a child, he’s a lot more mature and independent than kim AND porsche give him credit for. kim has some serious amends to make but first and foremost, he needs to be honest with himself, then chay, about how he feels and his reasonings. chay is mature because he had to adapt to a lonely world around him but his heart is soft and ready to love. he is a ray of sunshine who now has to accept that he’s been lied to for so long, and possibly, even longer with whatever their parents were hiding. the biggest source of his wide-eyed innocence is his big heart, his pure, honest love and i hope kim realizes that he can have a role in nurturing this innocence. he can protect chay, but he doesn’t have to do it alone, because i’m pretty sure once they meet him, half of the main family household would be willing to murder for chay — with tankhun leading them.
