I have so many thoughts. (ML SEASON 5 SPOILERS BEWARNED)
So when I first watched the finale, I was pissed the fuck off so hard. I had read the Bible when it was leaked, and I knew that adrien would not be in the final battle. I was hoping by some grace of god it was a red herring, that he’d somehow know. I was wrong and the Bible held true (obviously).
The fact that Adrien is the core, the center of the entire Agreste arc and was instead locked in a fucking padded cell. The fact that Adrien wasn’t there to confront his father. The fact that Maribug LIED to him, keeping him in ignorance because he is some fragile being. Adrien thinking the man who abused him died a hero, making him feel guilty by the hatered he felt for him. That one of the last times he spoke to him (although Gabe didn’t know) was when he was letting out all of his hatred of him, to him. And he has to live with thinking he was a hero. And Adrien was wrong. He deserves to know, and I still stand by that. BUT.
I think there is still three ways this can be done right.
One, Marinette. Marinette knows and the guilt eats at her. She is lying to Adrien, she is lying to Chat. She knows who he is, what is father is, and can’t say a world. Chat Blanc secrets/Alya secrets ensue again. Coming from his best friend and the love of his life. He knows something is off with her, there is something she is not telling him. Rift. Drama. Angst. And? Lila KNOWS. Lila knows and is the new Hawkmoth and is against Marinette and Adrien. She knows MARINETTE IS LADYBUG. Imagine how much more fucked up it would be if in a dramatic confrontation, she spills the beans. Adrien knows and knows that Marinette/Ladybug knew. Ouch. Ouch ouch.
Another version of this in my head is that Maribug doesn’t remember either. This is a lot less likely to me, but after the fact, there is no proof that Marinette knows. No verbal confrontation. Yes, she encourages adrien to wear the rings. But maybe she doesn’t know what that actually means, just what it means to Adrien. Or that is the only thing she remembers. Honestly, the wording was vague enough that Adrien could know he is a senti (I don’t think he does however, just something I realized)
But what really got this in my head was the static. At the very end, post credit. I think that something is wrong with this new world, very wrong, and that the characters are going to realize more and more that this perfect world is not the same they were living in before. I say this because everything is PERFECT. genuinely perfect. And it doesn’t make sense , in my mind, for Gabriel’s wish to keep it that way. I think that his wish wasn’t just for Emilie. I think that he did create his perfect world. But there is more to it that we aren’t seeing.
But anyway, about Marinette not knowing. I think that something being wrong with the perfect world could have her remember or her not. I just think it would be interesting if she started getting flashbacks, started remembering strange things about Gabriel that don’t fit the “he died to defeat Hawkmoth” narrative. I don’t know. I’m mostly rambling. I may not make any sense.
My final point is a mix of both of these. Marinette knows, and the perfect world has its cracks. Marinette desperately trying to keep the secret, thinking it’s what’s best, as more and more strange things keep happening to the people around her.
At the end of the day, I don’t think that the perfect world at the end is as good as the finale made it seem. I think it was INTENTIONALLY too perfect. There is a sort of unease to it, in my opinion. Something is wrong, and one way or the other, people are going to see it. Adrien is going to see it. And god I hope he does.
I was really disappointed with the finale, but I’m choosing to be patient with where the story leads. Adrien finding my out after isn’t my ideal, as I loved the ideal of a chat and Hawkmoth father son confrontation. But the way they are doing it could be so twisted I could forgive them. Adrien feeling horror and guilt of his old opinion of his hero father. Mari being the only one that knows and keeping it to herself, or having to relive it through cracks in her memory all over (which, like I said, think is less likely, but still fun to think about). A perfect world that is too good to be true. The angst can be done well. We just gotta see where it goes.
I am sad there was no identity reveal, I will say. There is no point to hide identities now. And also, Marinette really doesn’t have a reason not to tell Chat what happened. But I’ll wait and see how they play it out.

The Maribug Fic
[Fanfiction.net] || [AO3]
[Chapter 1] || [< (3) Prev Chapter] || [Next Chapter (5) >]
WOO!!! We're back with another chapter. Sorry this took so long. I got a violent case of writer's block and then the block passed but I still couldn't make an update to this, it was almost as if this fic was covered in a weird ooze that my brain wouldn't touch. But the ooze and block are gone and now we get to see more of the idiots.
Adrien couldn't believe it! The feelings for Marinette and Ladybug were mutual! If soulmates are real, then those two must be. They're so similar in so many ways, there were times when you'd think they were the same person.
Now that Adrien had confirmation on their feelings for each other, he tried to think how he could bring them closer together. It seems like Ladybug might be too shy to talk to Marinette and Marinette is a civilian so there's no way that she had access to Ladybug. He could try to potentially bring Ladybug to the Dupain-Cheng residence but would that be right? To just stop by uninvited and say "hey there, Marinette, Ladybug has something important to tell you." That's not fair to her and knowing Marinette, she would hate that. Then again what other way could he help? The only times when he sees Ladybug is when Paris is in danger.
The school day flew-by and Adrien was distracted the whole day. This was too important to him. Ladybug and Marinette were his friends and he wanted them to get together more than anything. But would they even want his help? Probably, therefore butting in and trying to come up with an elaborate plan to get these two to meet under non-dangerous circumstances that feels entirely natural is definitely a good use of his time.
When he got home, he immediatley rushed to his room and ignored all his homework to start coming up with a plan. This was quite difficult but it was for love. He would find a way to help his friends.
He had about an hour before and Ladybug had to go on patrol, that is unless an akuma shows up.
Marinette doesn't have the same after-school activities but she does do fashion and knowing his father, that could take up a big chunk of time. He also didn't have a clear understanding of her schedule since he was usually modeling or cooped up in his room playing piano. Was Marinette a homebody or did she go out? These are questions he feels like he should know by now. Is he a bad friend? No, no he wasn't. Bad friends don't go out of their way to make convoluted plans to get their two friends to start dating each other. He was definitely normal for this. He wished he could talk to someone else about this though but there probably isn't anyone else in Paris who would understand what he's trying to do.
He then shifted his focus to Ladybug. Ladybug only really shows up when there's a crisis around. She was very meticulous about keeping her identity a secret that he didn't really know what her hobbies are. Maybe daydreaming about Marinette was one? Yeah, that's definitely a normal hobby. He took this moment to write a note of that.
He was about to keep going until Plagg finally pipped up. "Adrien, what are you writing about?"
"I'm trying to come up with a plan to get Marinette and Ladybug to start dating!"
"What!" Plagg shouted more in confusion and less than shock. That's weird but there's no use thinking about that.
"Yeah, you rememeber that last night Ladybug said she had a crush on Marinette and today Marinette told me that she had a crush on Ladybug!"
Plagg seemed confused. "That's right, Ladybug did mention that." He then mummbled something under his breath but it he couldn't understand it. "What did you say, Plagg?"
"Oh, nothing, just a joke you wouldn't understand. But, uh, might I recommend not doing this. I mean, you could be putting Ladybug's identity at first if you do this." That's true. He didn't even think about that. "I guess that makes sense. But one little day together wouldn't hurt though. I mean… I went on a date with Marinette once as Cat Noir and my identity wasn't put in any danger."
"That's true but--"
"Also, Ladybug is super careful with her identity. Besides, the girl of her dreams like her back and after everything Ladybug's done, doesn't she deserve to know!"
"Well, what if Ladybug doesn't want this!" Adrien didn't understand why Plagg was so relenting on this. He didn't really care this much when Adrien was interested in Ladybug. Did he bond with her as Lady Noire? If he did then was she a better holder than him…? She was actually, no question about that, but he did wish that Plagg was on his side with this.
"That's nonsense, Plagg. Besides, you've said countless times that you don't understand human relationships." Adrien looked at his phone and noticed the time, patrol was starting in just three minutes. "We'll have time to talk about this later, Plagg. But for now…PLAGG! CLAWS OUT!"
I'm back baby! I like how this one turned out but I am slowly learning I like writing from Marinette's POV more so hopefully next chapter will have better shenanigans and I'll see you all there.

I was reading odnlb, when Hurt People Hurt People by Two Feet feat. Madison Love popped up on my playlist and I was like damn. This feels like it could fit Ladynoir (can't be too sure, I'm not done reading it yet but I have been spoilered). CW, this song tackles drug addiction and suicidal thoughts.
The song is a duet. The woman's part feels to fit Maribug, she's a hurt person who hurts people, broken but there's something about the way the singer sung her parts and repears her lyrics that gives me the vibe she's persistent and still wants to fight for her love.
The man's part on the other hand is full of bleak self-destructive angst. Like, he made it his mission to kill himself but somehow he's still alive. He's pushing the girl away to save her from himself and he doesn't believe she could save him. She can't fix him. He wishes he can fix himself but he's given up. He doesn't want to hurt her... but she keeps coming back.
I'm not sure how well this fits but I'm getting a hunch about it from some of the spoilers I've been exposed to.
first of all sorry about the spoilers 😅 i haven't really found a way to keep my blog odnlb spoiler free but i'm glad they haven't put you off yet!
gotta say i'm a sucker for duets especially when it's in this format. the girl sings in a pop ballad style and the guy gets the cool rap. this kinda applies to odnlb ladynoir too doesn't it? 👀 ladybug's suffering and scheming is long and drawn out and cat walker's living life on the brink, his actions jagged and sudden like the cadence of the male singer's parts. love it love it love it!
as for how well this fits current ladynoir... 👀👀👀 i would say very well

I love people who say "Adrien HAS to be the cat" because Master Fu didn't choose him because of cat symbolism or aura or prophecy. He chose him because he was in the right place at the right time and a decent enough human being.
Adrien doesn't HAVE to be the cat. Anyone decent enough to help an old man up could be the cat. Nathaniel could be the cat. Alix could be the cat. Luka. Alya. Nino. Marinette's dad. ANYONE.
So no. Adrien doesn't have to be Chat Noir. He could step down and get replaced any moment. He won't, cuz the writers be licking his balls, but he could. At most, Plagg would complain a little, but that's because they spent enough time together to be attached, if someone else was Chat from the beginning, Plagg wouldn't even know who Adrien is.
(Same applies to Marinette, but she's a good Ladybug, so there is no reason to replace her other than to give her a break from Nice Chat Stu)
Yeah though I’d actually argue that the same doesn’t apply to maribug 1, because she’d lose her memories if she quit altogether (she could still quit being on the field) and 2, her peculiar way of thinking is what makes her a good Ladybug, no one else (adrien, alya) has been able to match her in terms of figuring out how to properly use the lucky charm.
Meanwhile, adrichat doesn’t have anything that makes him essential as a hero besides just being present, a position that could easily be occupied by anyone else. And there’s also this weird argument that he needs to be CN for his own good, like everyone else should carry the burden for his angst. The boy can find other ways to get out of the house and socialize. He can find other ways to cope. Parisians don’t owe him their safety so he can play around as he wishes.

Didn’t Need Burrow (July 20th-August 2nd)
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Tikki's stance on the prospect of The Reveal is abruptly reversed and/or retconned so that she's completely in favor of Marinette telling Chat Noir her secret identity.  Bonus if she doesn't tell her this until AFTER some Drama Bomb has dropped, with Mari getting lectured for not reading her damned mind/'taking initiative'/figuring out before now that everything is always her fault, always and forever, because she's not P-E-R-F-E-C-T.
omg
I’m reminded of “Lady Wifi” with Tikki asking Marinette if she’s sure about not telling Chat her identity, and also “Sentibubbler” where Tikki was perfectly fine with Alya knowing.
Like?????
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Something that comes as a devastating blow for Marinette mildly inconveniences Adrien.  Naturally, HIS reaction to whatever it is gets played in all seriousness while HERS is glossed over/mined for humor/she's shamed for the grievous sin of having an EMOTIONAL REACTION instead of being Tikki's perfect little flawless automation.
Well, obviously his issues are worse! Look how sad he is!!
Look how SAD!!
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Tikki lectures Marinette for putting Too Much Responsibility on Chat Noir's shoulders.  This is possibly passed off as how she should KNOW that PLAGG is Unreliable, as opposed to *Chat Noir* being Unreliable.  Bonus: this is coupled with how she should TRUST Chat Noir more... just not, you know, with actual RESPONSIBILITIES or anything.
I’m like, laughing but also seething, because just the double standard of “YOU SHOULD TRUST HIM... but don’t put more on his shoulders, he’s going through so much!!”
“Bonus” if it’s a “Marinette, it’s all your fault!! You don’t know what Chat goes through!!!” despite how she literally can’t.
emikogale asked:
I don't need a burrow to know that the season 4 finale is probably going to have some forced drama and cheap shock value.
is it time to pull Reverse Love Square
is it
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: It's explicitly stated that Plagg is meant to be 'teaching Adrien' how to be more selfish (or 'independent'), because cats are stereotypically selfish/independent creatures, and Adrien obviously NEEDS to know that it's okay for HIM to be selfish.
Deep breaths, Clarity.
Deep breaths.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Marinette's trauma from Chat Blanc will be treated as a *good thing*, as she is told that she SHOULD feel guilty and that this should motivate her to be more honest with her partner, despite all evidence to the contrary.  If she took 'the wrong lesson' from this, then it's her own fault, clearly!
What’s the phrase? “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”?
Naturally though, Adrien will be exempt from this and will be told that he deserves better and shouldn’t take this.
Anonymous asked:
Don't need to burrow: Luka/Kagami will never get a magical charm or have a scene where they break their akumazations. If we do get that scene, for Luka he will most likely break it off for his family or to another love interest like Zoé. (I can see the show frame it as a lesson to Marinette like "You see Marinette, Luka can break it off if you told him the truth in the first place. But no, he prefers Zoé since she's more honest than you". For Kagami, it'll be mostly be off screen and ignored.
Zoeka: *exists*
all of us: oh god
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Once Alya inevitably screws up in a way that Tikki can't gloss over, Tikki will berate Marinette for going against THE RULES and make everything out to be All Her Fault, while acting as though she NEVER supported the idea of Alya knowing.
It’s times like these where I wish we could double up on Didn’t Need Burrows, but then we’d have like, a card’s worth of doubling up, lol.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Adrien/Chat Noir actively sabotages one of Ladybug/Rena/the other heroes' plans in order to prove that 'they still need him'.  Marinette/Ladybug takes all the blame for the fallout.
Of course she does.
Marinette, you need to TAKE CHARGE!!
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Chat Blanc Sentimonster
It won’t happen, but I just got an awful thought of Chat Blanc and Sentibug returning at the same time.
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: We will have even more Akumatized Villain/Sentimonster pairs which are rehash of Reflekta/Reflekdoll situation.
“Bonus” if the sentimonster barely matches the akuma’s original role. Like Reflekdoll VS Guiltrip.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Adrien/Chat Noir will start secretly destroying the Anti-Akuma Charms so that people can keep getting victimized, providing more chances for him to see Ladybug.  Marinette will blame herself, thinking she made them improperly/incorrectly somehow.
And even once it comes out, Marinette will forgive him and insists that it’s her fault for not “considering his feelings” and how she “should’ve made the charms stronger.”
Anonymous asked:
Theory that could be DNB I guess: The REAL Adrien is in a coma/dead and OUR Adrien is a senti that his mother created to be the “perfect” replacement goldfish son. Real Adrien is in some treatment facility in Tibet (if alive) and Gabriel and Emilie found their miraculous shortly thereafter.
FDKJGKFDGf
Okay, this ask wins for “Didn’t Need Burrow that made me laugh most.”
“Perfect replacement goldfish son,” oh my gosh, it’s beautiful.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: When Maribug gets akumatised, Renalya and Adrichat have the "knights in shining armor" to save the "damsel in distress". Maribug is eventually blamed for getting akumatised in the first place while Renalya and Adrichat get off scot-free :)
:)
Real talk, one of the only akuma I can think of who were “blamed” for the akumatizations was Markov (since Max debated turning him back on even though he himself has gotten akumatized before). Does that put Marinette on the same level as a robot, expected to follow orders to a tee?
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Marinette gets Yet More Lessons about how she shouldn't be selfish and must always put others ahead of herself, no matter how much she suffers as a result.  Adrien, meanwhile, is 'taught' to put himself first.  Bonus: one episode combines the lessons, AND we're shown how Adrien already KNOWS how to be selfish and is OPENLY SO as Chat Noir, yet his misbehavior is presented as Good while Maribug is punished for being imperfect, as always.
Thanks, I hate it, take it away.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: In a Shocking Twist on the Senti!Adrien theory, Gabriel MAKES a Senti!Adrien to replace his own son.  The REAL Adrien winds up locked up and/or running away, and much Angstrese is had.  Bonus if this leads to Reversed LSBS: Senti!Adrien shows polite interest in Marinette because Gabriel still wants to akumatize her, damnit, while Ladybug notices that Chat Noir seems stressed and reaches out to him, only to be rebuked because he's still a selfish little creep who hates her having secrets.
The fact that Gabriel has never taken advantage of Marinette’s crush despite knowing that she’s crushing on Adrien (”Chat Blanc” doesn’t count) is weird to me. If he was after her in “Ladybug” then why not take advantage of it?
...Wait, is SentiAdrien going to cause reverse love square because “Adrien would never make Marinette fall out of love for him because he’s perfect so it has to be a misunderstanding”?
oh no
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Shadowmoth makes a Senti!Adrien for some stupid reason or another.  Like Sentibug before him, Marinette tries to save him upon realizing the truth, and is hit hard by the inevitable loss.  Fandumb naturally SLAUGHTERS her for it, insisting that she would have gladly replaced the REAL Adrien with the fake, much like how Adrien/Chat Noir preferred Sentibug to Ladybug.  Bonus if Alya/Tikki/others reinforce that mentality by accusing Marinette of the same thing themselves.
I don’t know which of these two SentiAdriens DNBs are worse.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: The difficulty of using multiple Miraculi at once is retconned so that the REAL issue is how well the kwami get along.  Marinette learns this the hard way when Tikki gets into a jealous snit-fit with one of the other kwami, and they refuse to work with each other in a joint transformation.  Naturally, it falls upon Marinette to help them reconcile, as she's blamed for whatever sparked off the argument in the first place.  Because of course she is.
*sigh*
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Marinette has a full-fledged breakdown over all her responsibilities piling up on top of the guilt complex she's naturally developed from being blamed for everything that goes wrong.  At best, she gets a pithy line or two about others 'completely supporting' and 'believing' in her before she's forced to get back up, still staggering under the weight; at worst, she's guilt-tripped for having the breakdown, because HOW DARE she be HUMAN, am I right?!
Just the idea of it being said already that teens aren’t meant to be guardian/hold miraculouses and then Marinette being chided for “not doing a good job” is just--
ugh.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Adrien outright admits that he hates Ladybug having other allies, complaining that things were so much better when it was just him and 'his lady' against the world, without even the Guardian's support.  His whining is treated as sympathetic, even if he outright states that he wishes she was completely dependent upon him and didn't have anyone else to turn to.
tbh this is the only reason we don’t have permanent heroes; because Chat wouldn’t have his private time with Ladybug to flirt.
I can’t be convinced otherwise.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Chat Noir's jealousy of Rena spurs an outburst from him that forcibly reminds Ladybug of Chat Blanc.  The trauma response this triggers is naturally used *against* her, played as Marinette's Latest Mistake.  Since her trauma is CLEARLY her own fault, and she's GOT to learn how to cOnTrOl HeR eMoTiOnS while Adrien can throw Cataclysmic hissy fits to his heart's content.
Honestly, even if they didn’t do this specifically, I could also see Marinette being blamed for “being afraid of Chat Noir/Blanc” when she “doesn’t even know what happened.”
Basically, her “““blaming”““ Chat or “““reacting to him”““ for something he “““didn’t even do.”““
Anonymous asked:
DNB: 'Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought them back.'  Much like the old nursery rhyme, Adrien's insistence that he DESERVES to know everything he wants to stick his nose into 'kills' any pretense of Chat Noir being heroic as he turns on/abandons Team Miraculous.  Marinette/Ladybug is forced to cater to his whims in order to 'satisfy' him enough that he comes back.
Seems fair. :|
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Adrien/Chat Noir inflicts physical damage on somebody/something that is NOT magically wiped away/restored by his partner's Cure.  This inconsistency exists purely to blame Ladybug for the consequences of HIS actions.  Possibly with a side of Angstrien (provided they have him actually act like he *gives a damn* about what he's done).
I think that’s a pretty common trope in fics too; Ladybug being worried that Miraculous Ladybug won’t bring something back.
So yet another thing taken from the fandom.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: When Marinette finds out about Alya betraying her faith in her yet again, Alya bleats that she didn't explicitly SAY that she couldn't tell Nino, only that she trusted her, which she took to mean that she 'trusts her judgment'.  In other words, Alya blames her *deliberately ignoring Marinette's wishes* on her 'bestie'.  Bonus if Marinette subsequently TRIES spelling things out more only for Alya to complain about her being too 'pushy'/'controlling'/not leaving her that wiggle room.
“Girl, I told you to trust me, because I know that there won’t be any consequences to this!”
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Alya discovers Adrien's secret identity.  Rather than telling/warning Marinette, however, she either spills the beans to him or schemes to get them together/force a reveal, believing that this will 'magically solve everything'.  The show acts as though she's entirely justified in jerking Marinette around, pretending it's *hilarious* for her to add to her BFF's misery with her plotting behind her back.
Obviously this is all for Marinette’s sake so it’s fine.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Adrien will FINALLY learn/figure out that Marinette made his scarf... and be heartbroken that SHE lied to him about it.
Marinette, how could you possibly let Adrien believe that his father did something nice for him to make him happy! You let him live a lie!!
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Mister Rat Sentimonster
I will only accept this if Xavier Ramier saves the day somehow.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Chat Noir will confront Ladybug directly about 'replacing him with Rena', whining about how HE'S her partner, not HER.  No matter how much she tries reassuring him/strokes his ego to calm him down, Adrien remains pissy about it.  Bonus if this blow-up happens during an akuma attack/other crisis, and Marinette is presented as unreasonable for wanting to focus on the bigger problem at hand.  Screw the civilians, what about Chat's pOoR fEeLiNgS~?
What about THE DYNAMIC, Marinette?????
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Gabriel's grousing about how Ladybug 'never makes mistakes' foreshadows an inevitable moment where, after gaining a major advantage thanks to somebody else's screw-up, he gloats that Ladybug has finally made a major tactical error.
...They would.
They absolutely would.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Gabriel will exploit his son's gross sense of entitlement towards 'his lady' by convincing Adrien that Ladybug has neglected him more than HE has, what with the whole 'wanting to have a say in her own love life/rejected his unwanted advances/begging him to take things seriously rather than treating superheroics as a game'.  Adrien laps this tripe up like cream to soothe his ever so precious ego.
Which makes Shadow Moth out to be a decent manipulator but continues to make the love square look bad.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: Adrien will be responsible for exposing the fact that Alya still has the Fox Miraculous to Gabriel.  This could be by telling him directly during a face-heel turn, or simply because he's careless with that information (such as confronting Ladybug about Rena during an akuma attack/while Hawk/Shadowmoth is in a position to overhear).
I presume Ladybug is to blame for this for ever giving Alya and Nino a miraculous at the same time (when her hand was forced) in the first place.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Chat Noir straight-up *assaults* Alya out of jealousy over Ladybug trusting her more/'replacing him' with Rena.  This may involve Cataclysm, and she may or *may not* be transformed at the time.  Bonus if this happens *BEFORE* or *WITHOUT* him switching sides to join Hawk/Shadowmoth, and is purely about him *getting her out of the way*, possibly with the paper-thin excuse of wanting to 'prove himself' without her being around to 'screw him up' or 'steal his glory'.
I’d like to say that this isn’t likely, but he’s already been driven to property destruction soooooo--
Anonymous asked:
DNB: After investing so much time and effort into building Alya up as this incredible individual who absolutely deserves Marinette's trust despite doing nothing to earn it or her preternatural skill with Guardian-related tasks, she will abruptly lose all competence in order to 'prove' that Adrien is naturally better than her and that HE is Ladybug's 'only TRUE partner'.
Or Alya telling Nino comes out and in comes Chat with “I would never keep things from you, m’lady!!!”
Meanwhile, fandom having “Chat Blanc” flashbacks.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: The series ends with Adrien selling the in-universe version of Astruc the rights to tell their story, with the clear implication that everything we just watched is the end result.  Meaning that Marinette gets to be humiliated by her adventures being 'recreated' in precisely the form we've seen, every episode cheerfully depicting her as a constant screw-up who got blamed for EVERYTHING that went wrong.  Because why should she get to have any kind of positive self-image, right?  GIRL POWER!
Oh my gosh, they would.
Anonymous asked:
Didn't need burrow: In Crocodues, Luka will fully be over Marinette and act like a friend while Marinette might still have feelings and is super awkward around him, highlighting how Marinette (or girls in general) has poor control over her emotions unlike Luka (er boys in gerenal).
Still waiting for reverse love square where Marinette is over Adrien but Luka is no longer an option so guess she has to go for Chat.
...Does that make Chat a rebound?
Anonymous asked:
Didn't Need Burrow: One or more of the kwami outright admit that yeah, no, they simply don't respect Marinette at all.  Due to her youth, inexperience, lack of training, or maybe just because they can get away with treating her like shit and acting like a spoiled brat.  Naturally, this is treated as entirely HER fault.  Bonus if she TRIES to lay down the law with them and is promptly villainized for it.  Maybe even compared to Hawk/Shadowmoth.
Completely understandable, of course. They’re just so used to people who are older and wiser and professional--
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need a Burrow: Mass of episodes fleshing out Luka, since Lukanette is out of picture now. (Bonus points if Anti Lukanette people will make posts saying that fleshing out Luka would be impossible without breaking Lukanette first)
“Wishmaker” will probably do this. I can’t see them giving Luka anymore screentime than the three episodes he should be “grateful” for. (”Truth,” “Crocoduel,” and “Wishmaker”)
Anonymous asked:
Don't Need to Burrow (Wishmaker)
The episode will be a mixture of Hearthunter and Frozer. There will be a Luka/Mari/Adri moments throughout the episode. And as the episode ends, Marinette will look at Adrien and Luka will be sad and say you should go to him to which she does. Thus making...the Lukanette ship...sighs...dead.
I’m blown away by this idea of the person who is arguably most “deserving” of a warm and loving relationship not getting one (or getting a “second choice” with Zoe for example) while characters who clearly aren’t ready to be in a relationship get all the attention.
Anyone wanna take a guess on which “nice guy” writer lost a girlfriend to an actually nice guy and is still salty about it to this day?
Anonymous asked:
Don't need to Burrow Wishmaker
Luka will play a song on his violin that represents the love square, it will be be so beautiful that Mari and Adrien will be in awe together when in reality its just the Spongebob sad violin music.
I can also see violin scratching for it as well.
I choked on my drink.
Anonymous asked:
Don't need to Burrow (Wishmaker)
This episode will either be the Lukanette vs Adrienette feud or it will show us all these crazy shipping scenarios from LS to Lukanette to LukaAdri. It will give the fans what they wanted but ended the ships in a nightmare.
Psst....you can tell by the icecream symbolism
Ugh, I’m dreading the idea of it being an episode about these repeated scenarios and then having to go back or whatever. Viperion’s there so maybe him witnessing them and then having to go back.
tc-leo asked:
Don't need to Burrow
Luka will basically lead Adrien and Marinette down the Love Square endgame path through his violin playing.
This would be the second time they forced Luka to play for the love square.
I swear to several lords--

Don't Need to Burrow to know that in Wishmaker, the scene of Adrien in the middle while a closeup of Luka and Mari holding hands represents the end of Lukanette.
“““plot twist,”““ the writers say, while we sip our tea going, “you really think you can still bait us?”
Anonymous asked:
Didn't need burrow: Wishmaker will be the Heart Hunter of Lukanette. As in Luka and Marinette have Adrien third wheel them and it's actually cute and stuff. Optimistic I know but that's what it looked like in the trailer.
Your optimism is adorable and I appreciate it even if I’ve been burned too many times to be lured in by it.
Anonymous asked:
DNB: Juleka reveals a deep-rooted resentment towards Marinette for 'breaking her brother's heart'. This bottled-up anger fuels a call out where she rants about how she never deserved Luka, tossing out accusations that Mari can only weakly deny, since Everything Is Always Her Fault and She Deserves To Suffer.  Juleka going off is presented as a positive thing since she's sharing her true feelings; meanwhile, Marinette has to bottle HERS up even more and absorb the abuse, apologizing to her/Luka.
show: *continuously pressures and pushes Marinette towards Adrien*
also show: *blames Marinette for being into Adrien*
Anonymous asked:
DNB: That teaser picture Gloob released that had Marinette looking at Luka wasn’t actually a Lukanette scene! It was actually taken right after Luka told Marinette about how he’s dating Zoe and is happy now. Marinette is smiling to show her support and totally not because the writers took away her ability to feel love for any character other than Adrien! 🙃 (Also Luka had the obligatory “You two are made for each other” line, because the show is going to forget how much he loved her and force him to move on with a character who was only in three other episodes 🤦)
Even if Zoeka doesn’t happen in 4 and 5, it probably will in 6 and 7 considering that it’s “post-series” or whatever and they wouldn’t know what else to do with him.
Anonymous asked:
Dnb: In Crocoduel, Luka figures out Marinette's secret identity but doesn't tell her (so the writers can justify he is a crappy bf). In Wishmaker, he finds out about Adrien's secret identity, has tge realization that they are into each other and goes "Marinette I live you but you and Adrien are meant to be so bye"
The lack of self-awareness in ignoring that Adrien also didn’t tell Marinette.
Anonymous asked:
Don't need to Burrow
We will find out that Wishmaker will show Adrien's wish which is to confess his identity/love to LB which results in Luka/Viperion finding out and keep using Second Chance/self sacrifice himself. If it was Marinette's case, Luka (whether or not he knows her secret identity) will find out her wish is to confess her identity/love to Adrien and he would use Second Chance/sacrifice to prevent that. He'll also find out that part of Mari's wish is she might not want to have a future with him and consider him as a second option. Realizing both of their identities as LB/CN and how dangerous their wishes are, Luka will do everything in his power to prevent that from happening.
Once the day is saved, Luka will pretty much tell Mari its best not to continue and stay friends. He'll either be sad that Mari don't like him that way anymore or scared of Mari finding out that he knows both of their identities.
Oh and the morality of the episode for Marinette is it's okay if you don't know what to do if life. It's best to not know and just live with it.
wow thanks i hate all of it
Anonymous asked:
Dnb: lukanette angst in crocoduel doesn’t make sense to happen now so it only shows up now to provide trouble for Marinette, akuma, or extra drama juleka for no reason
So the usual.
May I just point out that Juleka has now run away anxiously two episodes in a row now since “Guiltrip” is the episode before this in procode?

Take Two: The Guardian in Gotham Chapter 3
First   Previous   Next   Ao3
Bruce sat at the head of the long oak dining table and waited for his children to make their way into the room for dinner. They came in as a staggered group; Jason arguing about some novel with Dick while Tim and Damian brought up the back as they discussed their patrol routes for the night. After Alfred and Damian helped serve the food, Bruce cleared his throat pointedly and waited for everyone to pay attention.
Once everyone had looked up from their discussions he spoke. “Alfred has a friend named Gina; and she had called this evening to see if her granddaughter could stay with us. She lives in Paris; but her classmates were bullying her and her parents thought a change of scenery would do her some good. I have agreed to let her stay with us in the Manor.” Even before he had finished speaking the table erupted with different questions from his children.
“Bruce are you sure this is wise?” Tim questioned over Dick’s ecstatic squealing (“I’ve always wanted a little sister!!!”), and Jason’s grumbling (“Shut the fuck up Dickhead. I don’t know why the fuck B is bringing someone into this house to live with this dysfunctional family.”). Ignoring his siblings; he pressed on “I mean, how are we going to hide Batman and the vigilante stuff from her?” As Bruce paused to answer Damian stood up and scowled. “Tt. This is a moronic decision. Inform me of when this girl is to arrive and inform  her to stay out of my way.” He lifted his chin and crossed his arms before marching out of the room.
After Damian’s outburst, Jason looked over from where he was arguing with Dick and added his input “Timbo’s right, B. How are we going to hide that from her?”
“We’ll have to make sure at least two of you remain in the manor each night so that she doesn’t get too suspicious.” He answered. “Now, the only reason I agreed to letting her stay here was namely for Alfred, and also because of what her classmates did to her”
“What do you mean, Bruce?” Dick questioned. “Did they like assault her or something?”
“Or something” He responded grimly before sending the photo to all three of them.
As they looked at the photo, he observed their reactions to the image. Dick was not smiling for once, and his sunny blue eyes had darkened to an icy frost. His whole body was tense; and his jaw was so clenched his teeth were grinding together. Jason was standing up with two guns locked and loaded in his hands. He had also managed to procure a knife from somewhere, which appeared as he leant forward and asked “What were the names of the people who did this again?” in a completely lethal tone. Tim, already hacking away at his computer responded “Not there yet, but from what I can find out, she goes to College Francois DuPont and she’s fifteen.” He briefly looked up and made eye contact with Bruce before asking “How fast do you think we can get our lawyers onto those kids B?” At the declarations of his children, Bruce closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose between two fingers. “We can not file any lawsuits yet, not without Marinette’s permission.” He answered, sighing tiredly. “Marinette?” Dick questioned. “Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” Tim responded instantly. “That’s her name.”
“She will be coming on Monday, and Alfred will be picking her up from the airport. She is also going to attend GA, so someone please tell Damian.” Bruce said as he stood from the table. “Now hurry up, we have patrol tonight, and there have been rumors about a drug ring near Crime Alley.”
---
After coming back from the hospital and having a sleepover Thursday night, Chloé and Adrien were completely sleep-deprived as they trudged into school the next morning. Settling into her usual seat beside Sabrina, Chloé silently thanked all the Kwami that she didn’t have to sit next to Lila. Halfway though class, Mrs. Bustier suddenly frowned and looked at the back row. “Does anyone know where Marinette is? She still hasn’t arrived yet!”
“Probably still sleeping at home! She’ll come in completely late as usual!” Alya cackled. At her words, Chloé felt her entire body heat up with righteous indignity. She opened her mouth to tell that wannabe tabloid reporter to get her facts straight, but then Adrien caught her eye and shook his head. He then pointed at his phone, and mimed unlocking it before pointing to her. Catching the hint, she checked her messages to see that Marinette had sent them a text.
FashionableBug: Mari said to tell Chloé and Adrien not to do anything to Lila or anyone else that starts making stuff up. (From Luka btw)
You’reUnderAgreste: Me-ouch, My Lady. I would never!
QueenofMean: shut it with the puns, Noir. Maribug, I will only listen to you because you’re injured and I’m not going to go against your wishes.
Putting her phone away, Chloé resigned herself to a miserable school day.
---
After school, she walked into Marinette’s room and flopped dramatically onto the chaise, before letting out a long groan.
“That bad?” Mari chuckled as she scribbled sketched one-handedly in her design notebook.
“You have no idea.” Chloé responded.
Their conversation continued into mundane things, such as everyone’s patrol routes, and various theories on who Hawkmoth was. Totally normal topics for teenagers. As the day drew to a close, they made plans for everyone to come over to start packing the next day before Chloé left the bakery and headed home.
---
Come Saturday, Marinette, Chloé and Luka spent the morning playing board games one handed “to level the playing field” as Luka put it and eating lots of cookies and pastries-provided by Marinette’s parents of course. Adrien and Kagami were attending their various classes until afternoon, so the remaining three spent their time relaxing, and coming up with a list of things to pack for Mari’s stay in Gotham. Two o’ clock rolled around, and the bells over the bakery jingled to announce the arrival of the final members of the packing committee.
Any plans to begin their assignment of somehow fitting all Marinette’s fabrics into the suitcase were cut short by an Akuma.
They all transformed, even though Kagami and Luka has been  extremely reluctant to let Mari go even though the suit temporarily healed her injuries. Climbing through her roof hatch, they set out across the rooftops to defeat their latest villain.
---
Five hours later, the teen heroes dropped into her room, and detransformed in various flashes of multicolored lights. They collapsed onto the bed and chairs and silently agreed to just  sleep , and get the packing done the next day.
---
All of Sunday was spent throwing various clothes and accessories into Mari’s pink and black suitcase. There were several sweaters and hoodies (added by Chloé), as well as several leggings and many thick pajama pants (Sabine).
Adrien (with the help of Tom) had somehow managed to pack over ten different pun-covered t-shirts, and by the time they were discovered, they had been buried under piles upon piles of fluffy socks from Kagami. Luka also threw in some scarves before Marinette added some toiletries, her sewing kit, and her computer.
Picking up the backpack she had decided to use as a carry-on, Marinette rifled through it to make sure she had everything in there as well.
Spare change of clothes in case she loses her suitcase? Check. Phone, headphones, and charger? Check. Sketchbook and pencils? Check. Disguised Miracle Box? Check.
She turned to her family (Not her teammates, not her friends, but her family.) and smiled. It was small, and bittersweet, but it was a smile. “Alright guys, I guess I’m all set.” She said, before joining them all in a group hug. They offered her soft, tearful smiles before Tom carried her big suitcase down the stairs.
That night, Marinette fell asleep surrounded by all the people she loved, and she couldn’t have been happier.
---
The next day, her Papa carried her downstairs and placed her into her wheelchair (since she had a broken foot, and couldn’t use her leg, they had given her a wheelchair) before wheeling her outside and placing her into the car waiting by the street.
Her friends were all inside, and she gripped Adrien’s hand tightly as they drove to the airport.
As she stood to board the plane, she turned back to catch one last glimpse of them all. Chloé was leaning into Kagami’s side who was holding her girlfriend’s hand tightly. Adrien was waving wildly, and Luka and her parents all raised one hand in farewell. Her Maman and Papa has some red rimming their eyes, but they smiled at her as she was wheeled into the plane. Next stop: Gotham, New Jersey.
Since her flight left Paris at 10 AM, she was set to arrive in Gotham at around 12 PM/noon. With that in mind, she decided to stay awake for the entire flight so that her body could adjust better.
As they crossed the Atlantic, Marinette, sitting in first class thanks to Chloé and Adrien’s combined nagging; popped her earbuds in, and began to sketch.
She stared out the window as she touched down, shocked by all the dog and darkness in the city. As she collected her bags, and wheeled her way outside to look for her host family, she couldn’t help but notice how everyone in this city was much more on edge than most normal people. ‘They act as though they are expecting an attack at any second of the day.’ She mused to herself. Her train of thought was cut off by the sight of an elderly man with a powerful aura standing next to a limo with a sign saying “Marinette Dupain-Cheng”. She wheeled her way over to him and smiled brightly. “Salut! My name is Marinette! What is yours, Monsieur!” She questioned, holding out her hand for a handshake.
“It’s lovely to meet you Miss Marinette, my name is Alfred Pennyworth.” Alfred responded, smiling gently down at her. “Now let’s get you and your bags in the car, shall we?” He reaches out to shake her hand, and the moment their fingers touched her vision was filled with dark blue and red. She laughed and smiled up at him. “It is an honor to meet you, noble Peacock.” She greeted him in the Guardian language, honoring his position as a True Holder. “And it is an honor to meet you as well, Ladybug.” He answered. She grinned and allowed him to help her into the back of the limo before he climbed into the driver's seat and they sped off to Wayne Manor.
---
When he saw the young girl, Alfred was shocked to say the least. She was roughly 5’ 4” (162.5 cm), and was very petite. Her stature, combined with her wheelchair, wrist brace, and the cast on her leg, all strengthened his resolve to protect the young girl from any further harm. That was only intensified when their auras recognized each other. How could anyone place the responsibility of upholding balance on such a young child?
As he drove to the Manor, she informed him that the Cat, Bee, Dragon and Snake were active on her team. Before he could ask her what the threat they were battling was, they had arrived at the Manor, and she had immediately tensed and gone silent.
Deciding that it was better to ask more questions later, he got out of the car to retrieve her bags and chair. Master Bruce and three of his children except for Master Damian were waiting in front of the doors to the Manor, and they all waited patiently for her as she exited the car.
---
Marinette was nervous. Sure, taking to Monsieur Alfred was really fun, and she couldn’t wait to tell him more about Paris, but now she was meeting her actual host family! What if they didn’t like her? What if they decided to send her back?! Then what would she do?? A small cough interrupted her downward spiral, and she looked up from her lap to see Monsieur Alfred waiting in front of the open door with her wheelchair. Grabbing her backpack, she awkwardly maneuvered herself into the chair and allowed herself to be wheeled out in front so she could meet Monsieur Bruce Wayne.
---
Note: Alfred doesn’t know that Marinette is the Guardian. He just knows she’s a Ladybug holder.

Alfred´s birthday chapter two:
Marinette slowly woke up with a smile on her beautiful features as she listened to her parents sing to her with a melodious and soft voice "Happy Birthday".
When the song ended and she was completely awake she got out of bed to be received by her parents who gave her a warm embrace and many kisses.
While her mother spoke up-
“Happy birthday my sweet child, your father and I will be downstairs serving the breakfast while you change, so don't take too long to be ready.”
As after soon her parents left, Marinette washed her face, styled her hair and put on a pretty dress as fast as she could and once she was ready she paused for a moment to look at the Kwamis who after all were still sleeping peacefully.
Those little gods who had provided her with so much support and advice when she had become the Guardian of the Miraculous so suddenly and at an age where she still had so many questions and so very few answers. She felt really happy to have meet and come to love them all in her life.
Apparently she had stayed a long time thinking about the Kwamis because her mother was calling her again, she was about to answer “comin mom” but she realized that maybe the noise would wake up the kawamis so she just rushed down the stairs.
When she arrived at the dining room, her parents were waiting for her with gift boxes and an appetizing breakfast, so without delay she sat down and began to eat, leaving the gifts for after the food.
Breakfast was filled with laughter and embarrassing memories from when she was still an infant. And also her gift was an amazing drawing quit.
However, in the end she was surprised that her father had put a cake on the table, because they always cut the cake at night.
Her doubt was quickly resolved when her father said -
“Sweetie, your mom and I were requested to make three wedding cakes so we may not be able to get out of the kitchen for the entire day so we would like to cut the cake now that we can.”
When she saw the fear of disappointing her in her father's eyes and the doubt in his voice, Marinette smiled like an angel and with an understanding voice she  said
“Dad, Mom, please don't worry, I have also had commissions {and duties as ladybug }  that have made me miss activities with you or my friends, so let's enjoy this little free time that we have together.”
After that, they cut the cake and her parents embraced her and told her that they couldn't ask for a better daughter than her.
When Marinette went up to her room she was wrapped in a hug formed by the little Kwamis that  began to sing to different versions of happy birthday in different languages, while other kwamis were bringing her a cake from...wait  was that a portal, Oh well, never mind.
After tikki had finished giving her little speech, it was time to eat the cake that the kwamis had baked. Marinette had no worries since she knew that many of them know how to cook and that Tikki knew what she liked, so while the kwamis looked at her with pride, she proceeded to blow the candles  and cut a slice of the cake.
To be honest, the cake was gorgeously decorated with small and complex patterns, impossible for a human hand to make but a game for the paws of the kwamis and as for its taste it was something unique and exotic, it had so many combinations of flavors and textures that she would never have imagined possible.
In a few words, the cake was something spectacular.
All the kwamis cheer to the reaction that their cake caused. And without further ado, all of them served themselves a slices of cake, eager to dig in.
The rest of the day marinette received a video call from her Nona, Adrian and several phone calls from her aunt and uncles but none from her friends. However she was not worried at all, because it was a tradition to throw her a surprise party every 2 or 3 years.
Seeing that she had nothing to do, Marinette transformed herself into her alter ego and sit on the roofs of Paris to patiently wait for her friends to call her.
A call that she waited till the sky became completely dark and the clock on her yo-yo struck 10 o'clock.
Only then she understood a heartbreaking truth, that this time her friends had really forgotten about her, not like years ago that they would only pretend to forget her on her birthday to only surprise her.
And slowly but surely she felt fat tears fall from her eyes. She heard footsteps behind her and then felt an embrace from familiar arms.
When she turned slightly around to greet the person that was hugging her,
her eyes met a pair of green, cat-shaped eyes.
“Maribug, what's the problem? Plagg told me this afternoon that you were very happy this morning.”
Upon seeing that  Adrian was really worried about her, she began to explain what was making her so sad.-
“My friends forgot me chaton, at the beginning I thought they were throwing me a surprise party but when the clock struck ten and nobody had called me, I understood that they had really forgot me”
“Maribug if there is one lesson that I have learned in all these years it´s that people sometimes forget about other people, things or even themselves, simply because they have too many thoughts or too much work to do.”
“Why are you telling me this chat?.”
“Because this morning I saw Nino while I was doing my photo shoot and he told me that since Paris is free from Hawk Moth, he is now able to make music the way he used to, and even a wave of ideas for new music has come to him after so many years of suppressing most of his emotions. And I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of our friends are doing the same.”
After the conversation chat wished her a happy birthday and a good night.
The whole night Marinette kept thinking about Adrian's words,  after all they were true, her friends were resuming activities that they had stopped doing for fear of becoming akumatized and perhaps it was true that in their emotion they had forgotten about the rest of the world.
Maybe she should do the same. Focus on herself and take a little break from everything.
When Marinette saw through her window that it was almost morning and that there was no longer any point in trying to sleep she, went downstairs to have breakfast and take a little walk in the park to stretch her legs.
When she was walking through the park, she decided to sit for a minute to contemplate the beauty of the morning.
Everything was going well, until she saw a person entering the park, and as she turned to have a good look of  the man, her eyes were met with a familiar pair of blue eyes.

Chapter 23 – Clothes Stay On
Adrien sat on the ground with his back against the couch, just staring at the front door. The very act was becoming a daily occurrence. Every single day since the day she walked out, he would stare at it. Three weeks had gone by and she had yet to step one foot through this door. Just sitting. Just staring. Just willing for Marinette to walk back through it at any moment.
But she never came.
He had tried to call her. Tried to explain what had happened. He left her dozens of text messages. Left countless voicemails. He called Alya, Sabine, Tom, even Nino, and yet no one would tell him anything more than, “she needs time.”
Tom and Sabine tried their best to stop the poor boy from fretting, but they knew it would be difficult to. They hugged him when he cried. They held him close, just like he was their own child needing a hug. But yet, they had to keep the knowledge of whatever Marinette had said or mentioned to themselves until she was ready to speak.
So he went home. He cried. He slept, or tried to sleep. He barely worked. He only did the bare minimum, then kept himself locked in his office until it was time to go home. He just didn’t want to see anyone or have anyone wonder why he looked so sullen all of a sudden.
Truth be told, he was tired of crying, tired of calling, tired of being alone without her by his side. All he wanted was for her to come back so they could talk. Patrols were boring, and if he did see her galavanting around, she barely said a word to him. She wasn’t happy in those little slivers of moments; he could see how pale and worn down she looked. He just wished he could explain, then she could take that info and make her decision.
Akuma attacks were just as bad. They arrived, they fought, then they left. No hellos, no goodbyes, not even any pound-its, only what was absolutely necessary to get through the battle. The Ladyblog questioned what had happened between the couple, and TVi only speculated.
Adrien sighed as he slid down onto the floor, laying completely flat on his stomach. The cold tile kept him awake, the tingles of coldness trying to help him numb the pain. But it was all for naught. He continued to stare until his eyes blurred, but the idea of doing anything else just felt dull. He closed his eyes, and tried to stop the tears from falling, but they fell anyway. He just felt so guilty.
He hated himself. Hated himself for falling for that trap again. Hated himself for being a damn fool.
Adrien rubbed his tired eyes. The splotches of skin were deep and purple. He hadn’t slept more than a few hours every night, the nightmares haunting him now. It was the same one, the same damn one, and it replayed on a loop almost every night. What he hated the most? Was that it was an exact repeat of what happened the day she left. Closing his eyes, he allowed the nightmare to take over, trying to puzzle the pieces that seemed to disintegrate the moment he touched them.
-----
Adrien was in the kitchen chopping up vegetables, whistling one of Jagged Stone’s newest songs. Plagg was sleeping on the back of the couch, cuddled up against the blanket Marinette had made especially for him. He was in the midst of making a casserole and a salad when Plagg lifted his head in confusion.
“Adrien?”
Not looking up from his cutting board, Adrien responded. “No it’s not done yet, Plagg. I’ll give you some as soon as it's done.”
“No, no, no.” Plagg started to say, causing Adrien to look up at him in confusion. Plagg never says no to cheese. “Why is Marinette out as Ladybug right now?”
Adrien dropped his knife and walked straight towards the windows. There she was, Ladybug whipping her yo-yo around and exploring the city.
“What is she doing out right now?” He looked down to his watch and noticed it was only three in the afternoon. “She’s supposed to be in class right now.”
Plagg licked his paw. “Beats me. I’m going to go back to sleep.”
“Oh, no you don’t. Last time she did this, she was drunk. Come on, Plagg. Claws out.”
Chat made his way out through the balcony and into the Paris skyline. He followed her closely, watching her strolling around as if it was the most normal thing to do. Curious, he followed closer, but noticed that she was soaring just fine. There weren't any slurred “woos!”, no sloppy landings, and she smiled and waved at the civilians as she passed them by.
Ladybug paused on the top of the rooftop, seductively eyeing Chat behind her. His ears perk up, noticing the way she summoned him to her with her index finger. He didn’t realize he had been spotted, normally being a secretive kitty during their little games gave him heightened control of his surroundings. He landed and walked up to her, and Ladybug cupped his cheek with her hand.
“Chat Noir.” Ladybug cooed out.
“Bug? What are you doing out? Don’t you have school?”
“Eh, school isn’t important right now. I came up with an idea on how we can fix this whole Multimouse situation.”
He tilted his head in confusion. Marinette’s morals on school attendance were important, yet even a plan wouldn’t cause her to leave. What also confused him was that she had mentioned a plan to him that morning before their civilian press conference. They would be handling the situation that weekend. Did she have another plan in mind?”
Curious as to what she had to say, he asked. “What’s that?”
“Tell the world that we’re together. Officially.”
Chat smiled, but then thought about her earlier plan. Nothing made sense. His face dropped as he thought about what she stated.
“What’s the matter, kitty? Don’t like the plan?” She whined in the most teasingly sad tone.
Chat felt like something was off about Ladybug and decided to implement Code S. After the first sentimonster tricked Chat Noir into thinking she was Ladybug, Maribug had implemented Code S so he could differentiate between the two. It had worked the last two times a Ladybug Sentimonster and a shapeshifting akuma had come around, and once for Ladybug when there was a Chat Noir sentimonster threatening their partnership. The sentimonsters didn’t know the right words when they replied, squashing any plans they had to steal their miraculous.
Watching her carefully, he shot her a smirk, playing it off like his usual kitty self.
“Alright, lovebug. But I want to know something first. Was the hamster fed with apples or carrots today?”
Ladybug looked at him and smiled, and gave him the answer. “Neither, silly. It was lettuce. What else would the hamster like?”
Chat smiled as she answered correctly. Hamsters can’t eat lettuce, but it was a trick question that they added in their rotation.
This was his Ladybug and he was happy to hear what she wanted to do.
-----
He let out a strained groan that echoed throughout the small room. The tears started to fall, and the guilty feeling engulfed him once more.
Plagg watched his chosen as he fell apart once again, and grumbled to himself at the guardian’s choice of self-isolation. He couldn’t stand seeing Adrien wither on the floor like a grown child, but he understood his feelings. Marinette was his soulmate, crafted from the very being of creation and destruction before life had ever been born. Being who they are today only solidified their partnership and relationship, but the torment that they were going through was becoming too painful to bear.
Plagg had visited Tikki the night before and talked about their two wielders. Tikki had tried to talk to Marinette, explaining that it must have been a misunderstanding, but the words fell on deaf ears. She spent most nights crying herself to sleep, or sitting on her balcony until the sun peeked over the Paris skyline. The days she had seen him or glanced over his texts were the worst days for her, and even working on some commissions proved to be difficult, with mistakes, missing supplies, and everything going wrong that could possibly go wrong, happening beneath her fingertips.
Marinette had walked in on their conversation, her tears falling once again when she saw the black cat kwami sitting on the pillow. She had a heart to heart with the two kwamis, and mumbled that she was an idiot for letting it get too far. It was still her decision to forgive and forget, but the pain of being without him and dealing with this mishap was blurring her reasoning to move forward.
So Plagg continued to stare at his chosen as he curled himself into a ball on the floor, also willing the power of all the kwamis that Marinette would just come right in and stop this whole drama.
As if the beings granted a saving grace, three soft, but hesitant, knocks resonated against the door. Adrien stopped for a second and looked up, thinking that he had heard wrong. Three more determined knocks rang again, and Adrien shot to his feet and ran to the door.
Looking through the keyhole, he noticed a mop of blue hair, half-hazardly placed in a ponytail. He wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, then ran a hand through his own messy mop to make him look somewhat presentable, and finally palmed his shirt to smooth out the wrinkles. He Let out a heavy sigh before opening the door.
Marinette was curled into herself, her gaze lowered to the floor. Adrien noticed how her clothes also looked misplaced, her usual look forgoed for leggings and a lounge T. Even seeing her like this made his heart race, in both nervousness and glee. She was still as beautiful to him no matter how she looked.
The silence became too much to handle, yet Adrien knew he needed to say something. Clearing his throat, he greeted her, his voice low and shaky.
“Hi.”
“Hi.” Marinette responded with the same tone.
“Want to- um,” Adrien looked around his apartment and noticed how terrible it looked. He rubbed his neck in embarrassment. “Want to come in?”
‘Sure.”
Adrien moved to the side and allowed her to step in. She looked around the room as if she was a timid doe, unsure of where she should walk to without making the tension worse than it already was. Adrien noticed her meekness, and offered her the couch, and when she took her seat, he sat on the opposite side, still keeping their space.
Unsure of where to begin, Marinette played with her fingers and let out a strangled sigh. She then huffed out a bitter chuckle, and that action caused Adrien to look down onto the floor.
“Why.” Adrien looked up and noticed she was staring at him. “W- no. How did this happen?” She whispered.
“Because I’m an idiot. That’s why.” He chuckled, his nervousness taking over.
They stayed silent for a few heartbeats, Marinette’s glossy eyes gazing into his dull green ones. “I want you to tell me what happened.”
Adrien ran a hand through his hair, hating that his nightmare had to be re-lived. He hated how he had to recount the red flags that he blatantly ignored in favor of their code. As he explained this, Marinette watched him intently, her eyes closing as her head bowed down the moment he mentioned Code S.
Seeing her cry over the situation shattered his already broken heart, and he wasn’t sure what she was planning to do now that she knew the information. He wanted to reach out to her, to tell her he was sorry for all of what he had caused them, but he was too afraid to reach out and touch her.
Marinette wiped her damp cheeks against the back of her hand, and she clenched her eyes, trying to stop the flow of tears from falling. She laughed, then looked up to the ceiling and bit her lip as the gears turned in her head.
“Hawkmoth is such an asshole.” She stated, startling Adrien. “Mayura too. Heartless, fucking assholes.”
Adrien watched her as she shook her head. He was momentarily confused.
“Hawkmoth or Mayura figured out our code. God. Everything is just falling apart in all our damn lives that even the fucking supervillains are out to destroy us.”
Adrien could see the anger brimming her eyes. Her fingers were clenched into fists resting on her lap, and he could even state that if she held the power of destruction in her hands, all hell would be lifted up from beneath them.
“Adrien, you were tricked and I’ve been sitting here thinking you didn’t know me.” Adrien glanced to the side, really wanting to say ‘I tried to tell you’ but didn’t want to be petty and say it. “And I’m a jerk for not listening.”
Adrien looked up and saw the tears falling down her face again. He decided to get up, still afraid that she would pull away if he sat beside her and held her close, but he didn’t care. She needed comfort, and he knew he needed it for himself too.
He took the spot next to Marinette and wrapped his arms around her, allowing her head to fall right onto his chest. The angry tears continued to fall, and he began to cry right beside her.
“Why.” She cried out. “Why is it that we try our best to save all of Paris, and yet, we’ve angered our friends, we’ve angered our families, we’ve managed to piss off half of Paris, and had been too far up our own issues to catch that the villains figured us out. They could have easily figured out our identities if you had mentioned my name at all while you were with her.”
Her eyes shot open and she pulled away from him. “Oh God, you didn’t, right?”
“No! No. I promise you, I never spoke out your civilian name.”
Relief flooded her eyes. She dropped her head down, letting out an exasperated sigh. Adrien softly took her hand and ran his thumb across her knuckles, still giving her ample space to step away if she needed to.
“I’m sorry.” Adrien quietly stated. Marinette looked up at him as he continued to speak. “I should have tried harder to verify it was you. I should have seen the red flags. We had just talked that morning about the whole Multimouse situation, and I knew you wouldn’t have left school early unless there was a valid reason. Nothing she said made sense, and yet I took her words because our code was working just fine.”
“Adr-”
“No.” He interrupted her. “I should have known. You’re right.” He laughed bitterly, staring up at the ceiling. He still held onto her hands, afraid that it was the last time he would be able to hold her like this. “Maybe I don’t know you as well as I thought I did. Maybe we shouldn’t have gotten engaged or even moved in. Maybe we should have just started our relationship off slow and move it along like normal couples do.”
“We aren’t like normal couples.”
“No. We’re not. But maybe we should have? Was it a mistake to drop our transformations that day. Maybe we should have been more careful.”
Marinette looked sullen as he spoke his thoughts. “Do you regret it?”
Adrien pasted a sad smile. “No, princess. I could never regret our time together.”
“Do you think it was a mistake?”
Adrien shook his head. “Do you?”
“Never. Unorthodox, but never a regretful moment together. Just a hiccup, maybe.”
Adrien let out a nervous sigh as he held her hands tightly in his. “Do you- do you think maybe we can fix this? Fix us?”
Marinette looked away. She wanted to say yes, say yes and forget about the last three weeks like nothing had happened, but he was so close to undressing her on that rooftop, so close to detransforming himself on that rooftop and exposing his identity.
“We can’t fuck around anymore. At least not as Ladybug and Chat Noir.” Adrien frowned, but his eyes showed understandment. “We just can’t trust that Mayura and Hawkmoth won’t pull that stunt again… to either of us.”
Adrien looked down dejectedly, but nodded in agreement.
“But, I do want to work on us. Maybe take it slow again? Unless you don’t wan-”
“Yes!” Adrien blurted out, startling Marinette to a stop. She then smirked and held back a giggle, and ran her hand through the locks that were settled beside his temple.
“Oh, Kitty.” She cooed, then turned to look at the time. “I should probably go.”
“Stay. Please.”
Marinette stared into his pleading eyes, wishing that she could do more.
“Clothes stay on.” He announced and Marinette tilted her head in confusion. “Stay with me tonight. I promise no fucking around. Our clothes stay on. We talk, maybe kiss?, but mostly, I miss you, Marinette. So damn much that its been so difficult for me to sleep. Stay with me tonight. You can decide if you want to move back in, and maybe be engaged again… your call. I fucked this up.”
“Okay, kitty.” She murmured as she brought her face to his. “I’ll stay with you tonight.”

Chapter 5
"Adrien! Nino's here," Papa's voice carried easily into Marinette's room. "Come down and help him carry up the snacks."
"Ooh!" Despite the last three weeks of freedom to eat, do, and be what he wanted, Adrien was still visibly excited about both the arrival of his boyfriend and unlimited Dupain-Cheng treats. "Coming, Papa."
Luka draped their arms over Marinette's shoulders, brushing their cheeks together. "It's nice to see him so happy."
"I know." She smiled, contentedly leaning against them. "Getting to be part of that really makes it all worth it." Adrien had the smaller bedroom, formerly the Dupain-Cheng guest room, and he insisted he didn't mind at all. But it was nice for them to have a place to hang out, all the teens that tended to show up usually in twos and threes, that didn't feel like they were taking over the living room. So Marinette rearranged part of her room, letting Adrien decorate it with beanbags and a ridiculous TV set up for movies and gaming.
"Is it weird having him as your brother now?" Luka asked, giving her temple a light kiss. "I mean, you had a crush on him for a couple of years, and he had a crush on Ladybug for about as long."
Marinette shook her head. "That all died down a long time ago, and he's been such a good friend to me on both sides of the mask." It had been a little terrifying when Luka first told her they'd figured out she was Ladybug. She was grateful they'd waited until after Hawk Moth was in police custody to reveal they'd known almost as long as they'd known each other. They'd also known Adrien's secret, but waited to bring it up until she knew. She and Adrien had decided to keep their superhero identities on a need-to-know basis, for now, at least, and most people didn't need to know.
"No, no, no," Adrien said from somewhere just below her bedroom door. "You go up first."
"You just want to watch me walk away," Nino teased.
"And your point is?" Adrien demanded.
Marinette could imagine his expression and the shrug he'd always used at Chat Noir, but never as Adrien. She giggled and crossed her arms so she could comfortably rest her hands on Luka's shoulders.
"Goodness he's more direct and sassy than he used to be," Luka said, smothering their own laugh in her shoulder. "That's nice, too.  No more guessing where he stands or what he wants."
"Hurry up, boys," Marinette called. "It's going to start in less than a minute, and I don't think we want to miss any of this."
Two sets of feet thudded up the stairs, as both Nino and Adrien carried up platters of treats, to set beside the TV. Adrien looked at Luka and Marinette, and she caught a glimpse of his plotting-Chat-Noir face. He swiftly flopped into the beanbag beside them, patting the space in front of him. "I saved a spot for you Neen."
Nino looked and rolled his eyes. "My butt is not nearly as small as Nettie's.  I'm not gonna fit there."
"I'll have you know," Marinette pointed out, "that my butt is bigger than it looks."
Adrien snorted with laughter. "You're not wrong. Henceforth I shall call thee…"
"No!  Absolutely not!" Marinette squirmed in Luka's hold to bat at Adrien's hand. "I will not answer to Ladybutt."
Luka buried their face in her neck, but she could feel them shaking with laughter.
Adrien flashed her the saddest kitten face is his repertoire. Then he turned it on Nino. "Come cuddle with me," he whined. "My sister is being so mean to me in this difficult time. I'm just a touch starved boy in need of emotional support."
Nino tipped his head back to look at the ceiling, before his posture sagged. "Fine." He drew the word out. "But we need to talk to your therapist about using your past trauma to manipulate your boyfriend."
"Yes!" Adrien moved back to provide a little more room. "I am your barnacle.  Come be my ship."
Marinette couldn't hold back the gales of laughter and she didn't even try.
"Dude…" Nino's face was red. "You can't just say shit like that." He settled into his designated spot, not seeming to mind being pulled back against his cuddly boyfriend.
The news show returned from its commercial break, and Marinette snatched up the remote to unmute the audio.
"Welcome to today's first segment of Face to Face, I'm your host Nadja Chamack." The familiar news anchor sat on her pristine couch, but there was no one across from her, signaling that this would not be her usual show. "I'm breaking from format tonight to share a recorded interview with Adrien Agreste from last night. As all of Paris is aware, Adrien's father, Gabriel Agreste was apprehended at Paris Pride Fortnight last month by none other than Ladybug and Chat Noir. With the revelation that Monsieur Agreste was the villain Hawk Moth, the value of his fashion house plummeted, and his son vanished from the public eye." She looked straight into the camera, all good humor wiped off her face, an effect that was creepy. "Last night, Adrien shared with me a story of a broken home. Please be advised that the content of this video includes a frank discussion of child abuse which may be distressing to some viewers."
The camera focused on Nadja's screen, where photos and videos were usually displayed.  And after a moment, the studio faded in from black, revealing Adrien sitting on the guest couch.
"Thank you for meeting with me Adrien," Nadja said, her voice much less chipper than usual.
Adrien nodded. "Thank you for having me.  And for being willing to do this on my terms." Being able to record the show, instead of performing it live, had been his therapist's suggestion for keeping his anxiety at bay.
Nadja smiled, tipping her head slightly. "First, I wish to offer my condolences. This must be a very difficult time."
"It's weird," Adrien admitted. "It's both difficult but also the easiest thing I've ever done." His hand came up to rub at the back of his neck.
"Can you tell me what's difficult about it?" she asked gently.
"It's... " He stared off into space a moment. "It's hard to wrap your head around something like this. I mean. I knew my father was not a particularly nice man. But I had no idea he was Hawk Moth. It's... " He huffed. "I ask myself at least ten times a day why I didn't see it, how I didn't realize I was living with a terrorist."
"That does sound really difficult," Nadja agreed. "But you know Paris doesn't blame you, right?"
He gave her a rueful smile. "Thank you. I appreciate it every time someone tells me that." He shrugged. "I guess I'm harder on myself than everyone else is."
"What about the situation has been easy for you?" Nadja asked.
"I'm actually happier than I've ever been." Adrien's real smile lit up the screen. "One of my very best friends had already asked her parents if I could move in with them before the arrest."
"Before?" Nadja asked.
Adrien nodded. "Things were… not good living with my father. And she'd seen that, and made a contingency plan for me." He chuckled. "That's just sort of the way she is."
Luka snorted.
"Shush, you." Marinette poked him gently in the thigh.
"And after the arrest, it really made the most sense to just go with that plan." Contentment was clear on TV Adrien's face. "I haven't had a real family since… well… possibly ever. I mean, things were better when my mom was around, but my father was already so controlling, even back then. When she vanished, it just got worse." He sighed. "I have new parents now. We're working on the adoption process."
"Adoption?" Nadja asked in surprise. "Aren't you seventeen? Why would you look at adoption at this point?"
"Do you have a family, Nadja?" he asked softly.
She nodded.
"I really, really want that," he explained. "And I want to know that I'm going to have that for the rest of my life. I love having people I can call mama and papa. I never called my father that. There was… a lot of distance between us. A lot of neglect and unreasonable expectations. I know Papa is proud of me. There was no way Gabriel Agreste was ever going to be proud of me."
"Gabriel neglected you?" she asked. It was clearly the first she'd heard this detail.
Marinette reached out to rest a hand on Adrien's shoulder as the TV version of himself nodded. "It was common to go weeks without seeing him, though we lived in the same house. I ate meals alone, when we were scheduled to eat together. He forgot about my birthdays and stopped celebrating holidays that were important to my mom. He'd promise to show up for things, only to no-show. If I got upset about anything, he'd tell me I was too emotional, and threatened to take away what few freedoms I had.  School was a common one."
Nadja stared at him, silent for a moment. "He threatened you because you had emotions?"
Adrien nodded.
"And… school? What do you mean?  How did he use that as a threat?"
"I was homeschooled for years, you know," he said, conversational and bright. "I begged to go to school so I could make friends. I felt like Pinoccio, a puppet who wanted to be a real boy. I actually had to run away to school, repeatedly, before he let me attend." He sighed. "But I think he just wanted leverage.  The threat of pulling me out of school would get me to cooperate with all sorts of stuff I didn't want to do."
Nadja covered her mouth, looking ill.
"Did she throw up during your interview?" Nino asked. His voice was rougher than usual. Even though he'd already heard all of this, it was still upsetting him.
"No… well, not while I was there," Adrien said. "But it gets better here." He pointed to the screen.
"You're incredibly resilient, Adrien," Nadja said softly. "How about you tell me about your clothes." She gestured to his outfit. "This is a new look for you, and it looks fantastic."
On-screen Adrien grinned and stood up to give the camera the full effect. "Yeah. This was made by my best friend. She has an online shop by the name of Maribug, and she's designed a whole new wardrobe for me."
"It's quite striking," Nadja said. "Much more vibrant than what we've grown accustomed to."
Adrien nodded. "Yeah. My father used to tightly control what I was allowed to wear. He wanted me to project an image of bland perfection. Maribug really knows me, though. And since my father deprived me of the opportunity to come out during Pride, she's created some outfits that fit my aesthetic preferences while also evoking the bi pride flag."  The shirt was a pink asymmetric v-neck, with an off-center front zip. His belt was a bold purple. His pants were bright blue and snug, showing off the body Chat Noir had built up.
"Oh," Nadja said in surprise. "Congratulations."
Adrien swiped the remote and muted it again. "The rest is just niceties. You've all heard me say goodbye before."
"You meant it when you said you were happy, right?" Nino asked, twisting to look at his boyfriend.
Adrien nodded. "Really, really happy," he promised.
"I'm glad for you," Luka said. "You deserve it."
"Now that, that's out of the way," Adrien said, leaning forward and nudging the DVD player. "It's time to introduce you all to Nanatsu no Taizai. You're gonna love it."
Again, huge thanks to @galahadwilder for letting me have a go at this. I really enjoyed it, and it was nice to get to share this side of Pride.
And thanks to all who have read and commented, helping me stay motivated to finish this despite my busy schedule. I'm glad you joined me for this journey.

Not a Fool
Throwback Thursday! How about the first Miraculous Ladybug fic I ever posted back in January 2017. (That, and I’m determined to get all my fanfictions from Fanfiction.net transferred over here and to AO3) ;D
Marinette wasn't a fool.
With as much as she ogled over Adrien (and his modeling photos if said model wasn't present to ogle over), it was really only a matter of time before she noticed the ring he always wore. The one that looked remarkably like Chat's ring. The one he wore on the same finger as Chat. The one in every single photo as if he never took it off.
Once it clicked that Chat's miraculous turned silver when not transformed, Marinette spent the preceding week kicking herself. Honestly, they had been partners for over a year, yet it never clicked that Chat looked exactly like Adrien? Same hair, same electric green eyes (in essence), same stature, same voice.
Same person.
Really, how had she not noticed before?
It took her another week to actually calm down and return to normal. (Something Alya was thankful for because she was growing increasingly unsure how to handle her frantic friend.) Now, Marinette had to figure out her next move. She had just figured out her partner's secret identity, after all. What does someone do with that kind of information?
Nothing. That's what she decided. Absolutely nothing. She would pretend she never knew. Why? Because they were secret identities. Secret identities were supposed to remain secret for a reason. And what better reason than the safety of her family and even Adrien himself? She couldn't ask him to risk that.
But at the same time… maybe he would if she asked. Or was that selfish?
So she decided to throw caution to the wind. Chat was still his usual flirty self, the one madly in love with her. (Coming to that revelation was a whole other story that, frankly, wrecked her for a week. Who would have thought he seriously had a crush on her?) So when he flirted with her, she decided to flirt back. It shocked him at first, but it slowly became a natural part of their routine.
Chat would come to her when he was ready. He would ask her again to reveal her identity; she knew it. She just had to encourage him to do so. And above all, she hoped that this would only strengthen their bond, not wreck it.
Because she wasn't a fool, and she knew he was far too precious to lose.
...
Adrien wasn't a fool.
Ok, so maybe he would never have noticed had Alya not made a comment on Marinette's earrings, but once he noticed, it was impossible to un-see. He had spent enough time in close quarters with Ladybug to get a good vision of her earrings, and he was confident he would recognize them anywhere. And he did…once Alya pointed out that Marinette seemingly never took them off.
Granted, her earrings were black and missing the spots, but it was undeniably his Lady's earrings. He had spent the rest of the day kicking himself. He went to school with the girl for crying out loud, yet how did he never notice that Marinette looked exactly like Ladybug? Same hair, same gorgeous blue eyes, same stature, same voice.
Same person.
Really, how had he not noticed before?
He spent the proceeding week completely freaking out. (Nino was no help whatsoever. Thanks, bro.) It was understandable. He had just figured out his partner's secret identity, the one she was adamant about keeping secret. What on earth was he supposed to do with that kind of information?
Tell her. He was going to have to bite the bullet and admit it because she would want nothing more. She hated liars. She fought for truth. So he was going to tell her everything, and if he was lucky, then she'd fall head over heels for him, (because discovering Marinette had a, in Nino's words, "monster crush" on him had been a… not wholly unpleasant development) and they'd live happily ever after.
But at the same time… maybe she wouldn't want that. Maybe that was selfish of him to force something she wasn't ready for yet.
So that plan flew out the window, and he settled for getting to know the shy designer better. To make and effort into building her friendship outside the mask. It had surprised her at first, but once she got over the shock of it all, her sentences became more coherent, and she almost became…playful. Their friendship grew, and they happily settled into this new routine.
His Lady would want things to be kept secret. And as hard as it was, he would respect keeping the distance between their two lives. So he would strengthen his bond to her in every way he could and hope it wouldn't destroy what he had with her.
Because he wasn't a fool, and he knew she was far too precious to lose.
...
"They are such fools."
"For once, I fully agree with you, Plagg."
The two kwami sat in a secluded corner of Marinette's room while their Chosen battled in a game of UMS III. (Considering the way Marinette was dancing, it seemed she had just won her fifteenth straight game in a row.) Plagg had sneaked out of Adrien's shirt within five minutes of arriving at the bakery so he could meet with Tikki. They had known exactly who Chat and Ladybug were since the umbrella incident. They had sensed each other immediately because they were perfectly in tune with each other, but that's what happens when you're two halves of one whole.
"Come on, Tikki, we have to do something."
"You know we can't interfere directly."
"Well, I'm not sure how much more of Adrien's lamenting over his Maribug I can take."
"Maribug?"
"Yes," the black cat sighed exasperatedly. "It slipped out of his mouth the day he discovered her identity, and it stuck."
Tikki giggled.
"It gets real old after the hundred and twenty-seventh time."
"I'm shocked you and your patience lasted that long."
Plagg glowered at her. "Honestly, Tikki, either they come to their senses, or I'm going to do something."
"You can't break the rules, Plagg."
"I'm not going to be breaking any rules. They both know who each other is. But he's a fool for refusing to tell her because he's respecting her wishes to stay secret. And she's a fool for wanting him to come out first because she's concerned for his safety. Furthermore, they are fools because the reasons they came to are just stupid. Face it. The only reason they aren't telling the other is that they're scared, which puts them at an impasse. So, if one of them doesn't make the first move, I will."
"But the rules—"
"The rules state we can't tell. The rules say nothing about creating a situation that force them to come to their senses. It won't be like the other time I did break the rules."
Tikki looked highly unamused. "So what, exactly, do you plan to do?"
Plagg smirked. "Watch."
Tikki sat shock still for half a second before grabbing the tail of a quickly shooting off kwami. "Plagg!"
Her voice echoed loudly throughout the room. And even if the two teenagers hadn't paused the game, they would have heard it. After they got over their momentary shock, they simultaneously turned around to stare at the pink kwami, who had let go of Plagg's tail in favor of covering her mouth.
And darn, did that cat look smug. If Tikki didn't know any better, she would have said he planned it that…
Oh, she was going to strangle him!
"Oops," Tikki squeaked before sinking back down to her spot hidden in the corner.
Plagg, while still floating in the air, was soon ignored by the two blushing teenagers.
"So…"
"So…"
They both stopped, voices caught in their throats. They had been caught. Each of them knew it. And each of them hoped that what they said next wouldn't ruin their relationship.
"This wasn't how I wanted you to find out."
Slowly, each of them processed the other's words…which sounded a whole lot like their own.
"Wait, you knew?!"

Bring May Flowers (Ch. 29)
AO3 Link / FF.net Link
Prompt: “Contrary to popular belief, I’m actually a dog person.”
Chat didn’t show up the next night. Or the night after that. In fact, Adrien didn’t want to go anywhere at the moment. The day after Chat left Marinette’s place felt perfect. He and his girlfriend entered the school, holding hands and giggling, their shoulders touching and their steps in sync. Everyone they passed was left with their jaws hanging. Nino gave him a high-five on the way to class, much like Alya did for Marinette just moments after. His favorite part was Chloe. Adrien had suspected he would have to be the knight in shining leather, but in his civilian clothes, protecting his princess from the Mayor’s daughter. But the model was left in shock when Chloe marched up the blunette, poked her chest with her manicured finger, and threatened to ruin her life if she ever hurt Adrien, considering how it was so obvious how much he cared for her. Marinette shocked him even more with she took Chloe’s hand and smiled happily, stating that her life would be ruined if he wasn’t in it anymore. Adrien almost cried then and there. He was so happy. He was too happy. Therefore, he tempted fate. The following day, a huge flock of birds flew over the school, shedding feathers like no tomorrow. Everyone in the hall took cover for the onslaught, not wanting to even bargain that if was just feathers, if you know what I mean. But everyone who was aware of Adrien’s allergy stuck close to him. Marinette had to hold her blazer over his head as they rushed to the nurse’s office. He was sneezing the whole way, his nose turning redder by the minute. It was lucky timing when they got to the nurse. His head felt too light to be normal and he couldn’t breathe very well through his nose. The nurse insisted he rest up and he’d feel better by the end of the day. But it did not get better. The pollen in the air during springtime was the worst it had ever been. He normally wasn’t affected by a little pollen in the air, but it certainly didn’t help that all the birds were flying back home for the spring. He went home coughing and sneezing. His temperature was normal, but it felt like his head was going to split in two. Nathalie cancelled all of his modeling gigs that were supposed to take place after school, informing the photographers and even his father that it was on account of sickness. His father wasn’t the most lenient person in the world, but even he understood that Adrien’s allergies were no fault of his and he couldn’t exactly preform perfectly if he was sneezing every ten seconds. The bowler hat was the only exception because Marinette replaced the real feather with a fake one so he wouldn’t have an allergic reaction. Speaking of Marinette… The blonde turned in bed to lay on his back. His hand reached to his nightstand and grabbed his phone, turning it on. He groaned when he saw the words “No Notifications” stare back at him, as if taunting him and his vulnerability to feathers. He glanced at Plagg, who was, per usual, munching on cheese at his desk, admiring cheese photos online. The little glutton didn’t know when to quit, even as his chosen was moping in bed with a stuffy nose. He couldn’t risk going outside with his allergies at their peak. Which meant no rebellious consumption of baked goods, no sugary sweet kisses, and no snuggling in the arms of his beloved Marinette. Oh Marinette, Adrien bemoaned, throwing an arm over his face. What he wouldn’t give to see the girl who could take away this loneliness in a heartbeat. A sudden tapping on his window made Adrien look in surprise. There were only a handful of options as to the source of the noise, considering how high up his room’s window is from ground and rock-throwing level. It was either an akuma, a bird pecking at the window, or… He spun around, his gaze hopeful, and it proved he was right. Ladybug was on the other side of the window, waving shyly to him. He smiled and waved back, then scrambled to get the remote, pressing the button to open the window. The spotted hero swung in quick enough so he could close the window, as to not irritate his allergy any further. “Hi,” Ladybug greeted with a small smile. “Hello, milady,” Adrien greeted back with a bow. “Nice pajamas,” she commented, moving her finger up and down his figure. Adrien’s cheeks reddened as he remembered what his sleepwear consisted of. His top was just a plain white t-shirt that said Miraculous across the chest. But his bottom were Ladybug-themed sweatpants he paid to be custom made back when Ladybug and Chat Noir were coming into their own as Paris’s local heroes. The blonde scratched the back of his neck, chuckling nervously. “Th-thanks,” he stammered. “Guess you have a soft spot for stray cats, considering you’re here.” Ladybug giggled. “Contrary to popular belief, I’m actually a dog person.” Adrien feigned a gasp, holding a hand to his chest in mock offense. “Milady! What would Chat Noir think?!” “He’ll live,” the heroine responded with a smirk and a wave of her hand. “Besides, there will always be many dogs in the world. But he knows that he’s the only kitty in my heart.” Adrien blushed at her response. Suddenly, Ladybug embraced him, pulled them down onto his bed. He barely had time to register the movement onto he noticed his head was tucked on her collarbone. Her suit felt cool. It helped greatly to reduce his headache. Adrien closed his eyes and settled in, his breathing even and his body comfortably curled up. Plagg moved out of the way to give the two some space, both happy that his kid gained someone that gave his world color again and grateful that Tikki was inside the earrings and therefore couldn’t tease him. “I dreamed of this moment for so long,” Adrien suddenly whispered. He felt his girlfriend stiffened slightly and decided to keep talking so she wouldn’t jump to any conclusions. “But at the same time, I was convinced it wasn’t going to happen, no matter how much I wished it. I wouldn’t have the witty, intelligent, creative, clumsy yet surprisingly brave, perfect girl with black spots in my arms for even a moment if it wasn’t because of an akuma attack. But turns out I was wrong on so many levels. I can hold her every day…and every night. I can play video games in her room, cuddle up to her in school, and watch her surprise me every day. I love you Marinette, no matter what you mask you wear.” He heard her gasp and felt her hold tighten on him. “I love you too, Adrien, mon chaton,” she managed to choke out, “and I’ll never stop loving you. That I swear.” The model slowly closed his eyes, wrapping his arms around her. He let sleep overtake him, sleeping better than he ever had before Marinette came into his heart. When he woke up, the moon was high in the sky, overtaking the position he had last seen the sun in. Ladybug was nowhere to be found. However, the only proof she was there at all was on his coffee table. He picked up the note and the stem of Sweet Peas. He gave the sweet-smelling flowers a little sniff, his sinuses surprisingly clear, and opened the note to read it. Dear Mon Amor, Hope you’re feeling better. I’d be a sad little bug if my kitty was still suffering. Get better soon. Love Always, Your Maribug P.S. You’ve brought me flowers so often, I thought I’d return the favor. At the end of the letter was a little drawn ladybug on a heart. The blonde held the note and the flowers close to his chest, smiling like a lovesick idiot. But he didn’t care. He would show his appreciation tomorrow.

The Prophesized Maribug fic [Discontinued]
[Chapter 1]/[Chapter 2]/[AO3]/[Fanfiction.net]
So, I meant to write this fic almost back in September (the queen was alive when I first announced this) and I appreciate your patience with me. The reason why it took so long for me to start is because when I first announced I was going to do a maribug fic, my life was starting to get manageable but then out of nowhere I got really busy and my anxiety shot through the roof. I also had my first panic attack since March 2020 (I'm sure that you can figure out what caused that one by the date). And things just kept piling on and on. But hey, here it is now. Same rules as the Adrichat fic. Each chapter is written at midnight, I have no plot in mind, and gets updated whenever someone asks.
Anyway, crack time.
Marinette woke up an hour eariler than she usually does on Saturdays. But she hasn't been sleeping well lately. But could you blame her? On top of dealing with problems with school, she's also had to deal with being Paris's lead protector. But what's been hurting most of all is her heart. She still had residual feelings left for Adrien. But could you blame her for this either? Adrien is very kind and nice but that wasn't enough to form a romantic relationship. He's made it very clear that they are just friends. Cat Noir on the other hand, he was amazing. She wished that she recongized her feelings for him sooner because now it seems as if she lost her chance... maybe forever. It was all just so exhausting. If only there was a solution to her problems. Then, Marinette had an idea. But in order to do it, she needed Alya's help. Later, Alya came over as usual. When Alya comes to visit, it's typically for planning or hanging out like they're normal teenage girls. But not today. Today, Marinette had something to tell Alya. "Hey, Marinette. Thanks for having me over. What did you want to tell me?" "I have something very important to tell you and Tikki." Alya sat on her bed and leaned forward to show that she was listening. "Okay, go on." "Yeah, we're both listening, Marinette." Marinette pulled down her screen which was now covered in pictures of both Cat Noir and Adrien. "So, as you two both know, I used to like Adrien." "What do you mean 'used to'?" Alya questioned. "You clearly still like him and now might be your best chance to say something." "No way, Alya. I'm telling you, Adrien just isn't good for me. We weren't supposed to be together. Unlike Cat Noir." She then pointed to the pictures of her partner in crime. "Cat Noir is amazing in so many ways. But as much as I want to move our relationship, I can't because I can't know who he is behind the mask. Which leads me to my solution." With one swift motion, she knocked all the pictures of Adrien and Cat Noir off to reveal one picture of Ladybug that was placed perfectly underneath. Alya and Tikki looked in silence and confusion. "Wait..." Alya tried. "What does Ladybug have to do with this?" "You see, Alya, it's simple. If I keep trying to chase love, I'll just get hurt. So I started thinking who would be perfect solution and that's Ladybug." Neither of them looked impressed as Marinette explained herself. "Think about it, I can be with someone who understands me, can keep me safe, extrememly nice, and best of all, I don't need to worry about keeping my identity a secret from them. It's perfect." According to the looks on Alya and Tikki's faces, it was not in fact "perfect." "Marinette," Tikki said. "I know you're hurting but do you really think that dating yourself is the best decision." "Good thing I'm just dating Ladybug and not myself." Alya interjected before Tikki could say anything. "But you are Ladybug! You are literally the same person!" "Ladybug is the protector of Paris, Alya. I, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, on the other hand am just a normal girl with a normal. But as of right now, I have a secret that no one knows yet. Which is where you come in, Alya." "What?" Marinette walked over and put her hands on Alya's shoulders and stared her dead in the eyes. "I need you to post about my relationship with Ladybug on the Ladyblog." "WHAT?!" Marinette then took a step back from Alya as she went on to explain. "Yeah, everyone knows the best place to find Ladybug content is on your blog. Sooo... if you make a blog post about how I'm dating Ladybug, everyone'll know!" "I-I... WHAT?! Marinette, I love you. You know I love you and I would support any romance you want to have, expect maybe Lila, but this is..." She gestured around wordlessly. "I don't even know. I can't describe it." Tikki then flew next to Alya doing her best to also help describe the situation. "She's right Marinette. I know you've had your heart broken a few times but you should think over this more." "But I have. I've thought about it and I realized that only way to stop thinking about Adrien or Cat Noir would be to start a relationship with someone who understands me." "But what about Luka?" Alya was pleading with all her might. Marinette crossed her arms and brushed her off. "Luka's in the past. Besides, Luka doesn't know my identity which is my main problem with Cat Noir." It was becoming clear to Alya that Marinette was determined to date Ladybug and the worst part about it is that she made some sense. Not to mention, this would be a good way to keep her identity a secret. No one would suspect that she's actually Ladybug if she was... dating Ladybug. "Alright," Alya said, defeat in her voice. "I'll post about your relationship on the blog." Marinette jumped for joy but Alya wasn't done yet. "But I have a few conditions. I'll post about it on Monday just to give you more time to think about it." "Okay, fine." "Second, the moment that this gets out of hand, I'm shutting it down." Alya then stuck out her hand. "Do we have a deal." Without a moment of hestitation, Marinette shook Alya's hand. "Deal!"
Alright, Maribug fic is out. I don't know how this fic will go but pray for Alya, she's gonna need it.

Closer than you think (part 2)
Fandom:  Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. Genre: Romance & Comedy  Pairing: Adrienette, LadyNoir, Marichat, Ladrien  Rating: K+ Type: Two-shot, (part one)
Summary: The person you're meant to be with might be right in front of you, all it takes is some searching.
Paris couldn’t have looked more beautiful than it did at dusk. The beautiful pinks and oranges lit the sky and the Eiffel tower shone in pride over the city. The city was looked after in more ways than others and made it peaceful to live in… well for some.
Due to the unfortunate circumstances of Hawkmoth living somewhere in the city, akuma incidents tended to occur a regular basis. But fear not! Ladybug and Chat Noir are the protectors of all Parisians!
Two partners with unique skills and good compatibility is definitely a recipe for a good team. But…
It makes it difficult when love is in the mix…
Due to some love struck craziness, Chat Noir had done something he should have never attempted to do, but the poor boy was at his wits end.
He found out Marinette Dupain-Cheng, is his very Ladybug.
It definitely came as a shock but it made so much sense and provided so much clarity, and it made him fall harder for her albeit it made her madder at him.
After that fateful day when he found out, he gave strong hints she knew him in her day to day civilian life and that she practically gave away her own cover and to top it off he refused to tell her who he was and made a game of the matter.
Marinette’s competitive side was unleashed but her temperament wasn’t as easy to control, especially when he mocked and teased, giving him the advantage.
One particular time after solving an akuma incident and the crowds had cleared around them, giving them a few minutes before reverting, he had started some jabs at her ego.
“Great job as always MariBug- Ooops! I mean Ladynette- Oh Sorry! No no, Ladybug…” He teased, trying to act clever in using new names.
She glared at him and turned her back to him preparing to leave until she heard his voice again.
“Why not stick around Bugaboo, it doesn’t matter if you revert after all~” he sang cheeringly.
She froze and gripped her yoyo hard.
She breathed in and out and whipped her yoyo across to swing away without saying anything, not to mention she was having a tough time not kicking his tail and killing him on the spot.
By the time she got home she was fuming. Jumping into her bedroom from the trapdoor Marinette released her transformation and didn’t give much time for Tikki when she started to rant and huff.
“What a relentless Ally Cat!” she seethed as she walked to her chaise and then to her computer, pacing back and forth.
“He was a little over the top…” Tikki admitted
“Not only that, he blabs my name, well half of it, as a joke and anyone could have been nearby!” Marinette collapsed onto her chaise and groaned unbecomingly.
Tikki floated over to her head and patted it sympathetically and heard Marinette pipe up again.
“What could he possibly gain from torturing me like this?” She grumbled.
“You know Chat Noir, he seems to like teasing you when he can, whether its puns or poor jokes.” Tikki sighed as she sat on her holders head.
“Well it has to stop, quite frankly I don’t like being beaten at this game of his. He said he knows me in real life so the question is who it is and how I can catch him…” Marinette brainstormed.
“I sure we’ll think of something Marinette. For now, you should start on your project for school. Hero’s need to do homework too.” The little polka dotted kwami lightly joked.
Marinette internally nodded and lifted herself off her chaise and headed to her desk to start her project for school.
She gave off a soft sigh “I hope tomorrow will get better.”
Tomorrow didn’t get better…
Anyone who knew how ‘graceful’ Marinette was in the morning would have not been surprised by her running, bumping and tripping she had to accomplish to make it to class on time.
With an exasperated sigh Marinette sat down at her seat just in time for class with her best friend smirking and shaking her head at her.
“Girl, how in the world did you make it here without breaking any bones? And I'm not talking about yours.” Alya said in her usual sassy tone.
Marinette rolled her eyes “I'm lucky I guess” she dryly joked.
A stifled laugh came from the class door and both girls looked up to see Adrien was the one making the sound. The two stared at him, with no emotion on their faces- confused to why Adrien thought Marinette’s sarcastic comment amused him.
He stared back and in a panic he faked a cough to pass off the first sound he made.
It seemed to work since Alya changed the subject.
Marinette tried to follow along with the new conversation at hand but she couldn’t focus. Sure on a day to day basis Adrien clouded her mind but today she found it particularly difficult to tear her eyes away from him sitting in front of her.
His head tilted to the side to look behind him and their eyes locked for a moment. Her eyes few back to Alya’s face pretending to pay attention.
She could only pray her cheeks weren’t as hot as she felt.
‘Why did he just look at me? He usually never turns around…’ she panicked internally.
That was the least of her troubles that day.
In science she fell asleep and Ms. Mendeleiev had been on her wits end and sent the sleepy girl to the Principals office… not to mention she got paired with Chloe again in Chemistry.
So far everything was in shambles and to Marinette’s detriment she definitely was not living up to Lady Luck as one would think.
It was almost time to head home in time to help her mother with dinner, which Marinette was eternally grateful for since she feels like she needs to end this day. As she was leaving the school grounds a familiar blonde popped up in front of her.
“A-A-Adrien!” she squawked by his sudden appearance.
He was smiling very charmingly, with or without his knowledge that reminded her of the emotion of smugness. But it didn’t end there, no, Adrien just had to stop her heart once more… but not in the way she was expecting
“Fancy meeting you here Marinette.” He joked, which was an occasional occurrence but then he winked at her and did the finder guns…
She blinked once. Twice.
‘Umm what?’ she almost said aloud.
Her lack of response panicked the blonde but kept his cool and spoke again.
“Sorry about what happened in class, I mean being paired with Chloe; I know she can’t be easy. Too bad you guys don’t have good chemistry…”
Marinette couldn’t stop herself but she rolled her eyes and huffed at the pun but instantly regretted doing it so gaudily.
Adrien oh so desperately wanted to call her out on her Ladybug side showing but controlled himself from doing so.
Marinette tried to play off her eye roll with an attempt to laugh at the joke her crush made but came out sounding awfully fake. Adrien could tell and tried to contain his own laughter.
“Sorry for the pun, I know a lot of people aren’t fans” Adrien apologised.
Marinette panicked “What- no no no! I-I love puns! I have a friend who can’t stop making them! Yours was funnier though! Yep!”
She groaned at herself and ceased speaking in general. And ‘I have a friend’ is used very loosely right now as she wants to strangle said friend till his miraculous runs out.
No. no, no she will not think about that cat now, certainly not when she’s in front of her school crush!
‘Who reminds me of Chat’ her mind whispered.
She screamed at herself internally ‘He does not! It was just the pun!’
“Uh Marinette?” Adrien called out.
Marinette broke of her trance and looked bewildered to Adrien; she was somewhat disgusted at herself for zoning out so badly. Her face did certainly make Adrien chuckle.
“The joke must have been bad if it sent your mind flying” he said and winked at her.
Her face, which was red already, felt hotter tenfold. And the wink could kill… thankfully she was a hero that could handle it… barely.
“But don’t worry” he continued “You pulled a very cute face”
Oh boy, scratch that last comment she was a goner.
Adrien didn’t realise his own comment before he said it and he himself was screaming internally.
‘Really? Cool it with the flirting, you don’t want her to find out by shameless seducing!’ he scolded himself.
Before she could make an audible sound Adrien leapt to his recovery “Anyway I’ll see you around!” he said and dashed off.
She still stood in place, mouth agape and face red, ready to die. She… just couldn’t believe her ears! Adrien… ADRIEN just called her cute?! She wished someone was videoing or something.
“Well that was worth snooping around for” a familiar voice called out.
Of course Alya would be nearby with her phone pointed at Marinette who was still inaudible and red.
“Marinette B-R-E-A-T-H-E.”
The Raven headed girl did as she was told and gasped for a large gust of air and breathed out as slowly as she could had.
“I… didn’t dream that right?” she whispered.
Alya smirked and waved her phone “Do you want the proof?”
Marinette let a free hand cover her face and lightly laughed “Maybe another time… I don’t think I can handle it right now”
Alya chuckled lightly and adjusted her bag “I’ll send it to you later then. In the meantime why don’t you walk by the park and cool down”
It was a good idea and Marinette certainly needed it.
Dusk was settling in and Tikki decided to take a nap in her purse. Perhaps with no one to talk to, she can sit in peace and sort out her thoughts. And with the park being right next door she can enjoy the whole sunset and return to help with dinner.
She sat on a bench under a lovely lush tree, enjoying the breeze sweeping through the leaves that refreshed Marinette along with the beautiful pink and orange sky calming her into tranquillity.
That was until a few leaves fell in front of her.
Her head turned upwards to see a naughty, very sly cat
“Still being a creep I see…” she sighed out.
“Still using that term I see” he countered with an impish grin.
Chat hopped down into the shadows by the bench and crouched down so no one could see him. She adjusted her body to face him but kept her body comfortable.
“Just how long are you going to torture me?” Marinette eyed her partner.
“You see it as torture, I see it as fun. And only until you find me, My Lady.”
Marinette snorted unladylike at his comment “You aren’t very easy to find Kitty. In fact I'm considering strangling you until your kwami comes out.” She jokingly threatened.
“Meowch I don’t want that to happen. So what? My charming personality not easy to spot?” he joked.
She laughed dryly “Hardly”
“Well I guess I should be blunt like the guy who made you blush redder than a cherry at school today” he teased.
On que her face went the cherry red he mentioned.
“You were eaves dropping?! How dare- Grr- I… I can’t believe you!” she almost yelled out loudly but kept it tapered in case someone was walking past.
“You could say I got a front row seat” he snickered.
Before she could speak or possibly hit him he spoke again “So was that purrhaps my competition?”
She was sooo ready to smack him but huffed at him “That is none of your business” she hissed.
The sneaky black cat leaped onto the bench next to Marinette and intertwined his hands behind his head casually “You can’t blame me for being a little jealous Bugaboo.”
She remained quiet at what he said. Chat Noir is and had always been a flirt but his recent actions of desperation to find out who she was screamed something else on his behalf. Did he really like like Ladybug? And knowing who she is now didn’t change his mind? Was that really what this all was?
“So you really do like me” she muttered.
He heard her though despite her quietness, and remained still.
“Wasn’t that always obvious?” He said back, feeling his cheeks heat up.
She raised her brow at him. ‘Well no not really’ she thought to herself. She always had thought he was a jokester and a silly flirt, she hadn’t ever thought it was because…
The revelation hit her and she felt awfully exposed. Her cheeks felt warm all of the sudden and thank the sun for hiding the red tones in her cheeks with its orangey sunset.
She coughed, recollecting herself “S-so then, now knowing your beloved lady is me, you h-haven’t changed your mind?” she stuttered
He smiled warmly at her that sent shivers down her spine, as if those green eyes had stared at her before somewhere else but she couldn’t put her finger on it.
“It made things ten times better.” he grinned at her.
”In fact I feel so stupid for not putting it together sooner… the wit, the charm, the independency, the eyes, the freckles…” he chuckled “And overall, the ability to keep me wondering”
She was certain the sun couldn’t save her now with her blushing. Even her mind was screaming at her to stop.
She breathed loudly through her nose and caught his attention. She noticed that he also couldn’t hide his blush under his mask. So Chat Noir gets embarrassed too…
“And what about you, My Lady, what will you think of me when you find out my identity?” He asked barely audible.
Marinette looked to the suns last moments before setting, blinking slowly and tilting her head pondering.
“Well I guess I would be surprised since I apparently know you and I always assumed we never met out of costume…” she started.
“But I wouldn’t think less of you. You’re still my loyal, goofy, pun making, amazing partner and friend, I could never treat you less than that” she told him honestly.
He smiled at her words of endearment and couldn’t help but feel like he was floating on air.
And then her last words got him to think.
‘So there’s a chance you would treat me more than that?’ he thought
The sun finally set and Marinette sighed peacefully, she hadn’t thought her and Chat’s conversation would take such a usual turn from her trying to kill him to her complimenting him. Perhaps now that she had been so nice to him she could try getting some information out of him.
“I know what you’re thinking and nice try” Chat playfully said interrupting her thoughts.
‘Darn cat’ she cursed
He got up and brought his baton from his belt “Well time for me to dash Princess. Till next time” he saluted and vaulted towards the building.
“Till next time ally cat”
‘He might be closer than you think’ Marinette kept chanting to herself the following day
She hadn’t intended to think about him the whole night but Chat Noir plagued her thoughts and not in a good way. For the most part she was thinking about the fact that he liked Ladybug and her, not just one side of her but both…
Quite a number of times she had to pat away the red in her cheeks…
Never… never had she blushed about Chat Noir… but his sincerity was just so appealing at the time. No jokes, no teasing, just him speaking from the heart and she couldn’t get it out of her mind.
With her mind muddled up, Marinette hadn’t realised she walked into her last class of the day which was chemistry.
She snapped out of her trance and sat at her desk where Chloe was supposed to be at too since she was her new partner.
Marinette scowled in her seat without realising until the moving of the chair next to her caught her attention. Her bright blue orbs turned to look at Chloe but instead found a set of eyes that belonged to another.
Adrien’s eyes to be exact.
“Morning Marinette” he greeted
“H-Hi… uhhh what are you-?”
“I spoke to Miss Mendeleiev about swapping partners. I had Sabrina so I figured her and Chloe would get along as partners. I hope you don’t mind.”  He explained
Her brain felt like it imploded… she was going to be his partner for the rest of the term? She wanted to pinch herself!
But at the same time her mind figured Chloe must be awfully mad that she’s Adrien’s lab partner and not her.
She forgot Adrien asked her a question and quickly answered his question before she seems rude “No, no I don’t mind!” she squeaked.
“Morning Mari” Alya’s voice called from behind her.
Adrien smiled at her and proceeded to write up some notes while the girls chatted.
Alya’s face turned devilish and bent down to Marinette’s ear “Chloe caused quite a ruckus earlier, wanting to swap Sabrina for Adrien. But Miss Mendeleiev put her in her place”
Marinette figured as much and cast her eyes to a glaring Chloe who flicked her ponytail arrogantly.
Marinette rolled her eyes and looked back at Alya “Great, I'm probably going to have to deal with her later aren’t I?”
“I'm sure it’s worth it though” Alya winked.
Before Marinette could respond Miss Mendeleiev entered the class and had assigned experiments.
Adrien smiled towards her “So new partner, why don’t we make this term Fluorine Uranium Nitrogen?”
Marinette blanked “Uh…”
Adrien laughed at her expression “You know… FUN.” He snickered again.
Marinette wasn’t sure how to react but released a half-hearted laugh “Wow…” she said without realising.
“Sorry Marinette,” Adrien laughed “I tell bad Chemistry jokes because all the good ones Argon”
“Oh my god…” Marinette huffed out of control and quickly slapped her hand over her mouth.
“Don’t worry! That is people’s reaction to chemistry jokes” Adrien laughed again.
Marinette laughed along too, not at the joke but how bad it was “Please stop, it hurts” she pleaded with a sheepish grin.
Adrien smiled ‘Finally she opened up’
“Adrien, Marinette, less yapping and more working!” miss Mendeleiev yelled from the front.
The two snapped back to work without hesitation but secretly peeked at one another.
And that’s how the whole hour went, just her, Adrien and very, very bad Chemistry jokes. For the first time in the history of ever, Marinette wanted to strangle Adrien Agreste.
Was that even possible?
Yes, yes it was, especially when he would relentlessly shower her with lame jokes.
For instance, he asked her pass a beaker in which she said ‘Kay’ and he’d reply ‘Well Potassium to you too’
Or when she wrote down the wrong formula he said ‘I Zinc that’s wrong’
And so on and so forth.
What she found the most odd about her day, was that she felt more like herself around the boy who made her act like a babbling idiot. How long would it last though… when she would look at him, even just a glance, she felt all those anxieties come back.
She wishes she could be herself like she was when she was around Chat, she wishes she could be good friends with Adrien like she is with Chat.
She frowned without realising it ‘That mangy cat always finds his way back into my mind’
The bell rang and broke her thoughts, she sighed in relief as it was the end of the day… a very long day.
“See you tomorrow Marinette” Adrien smiled brightly at her before exiting the class.
“S-see you to-tomorrow!” She called out
When he left the class she groaned and covered her face in her hands and felt the sympathetic pat of Alya.
“Why is it so hard to talk to him? I was doing so well during class…” she fake cried.
Alya’s interest peaked “What did you do differently during class?”
“Well the thing is that I didn’t do anything… Adrien started acting differently…” Marinette frowned to herself again in confusion.
“He kept telling lame Chemistry jokes and puns and I couldn’t help but laugh or scoff at them. I can’t believe he saw that side of me,” Marinette suddenly panicked at her realisation.
“Did he react badly to your reactions to the jokes?” Alya asked
“I guess not” Marinette whispered
“Then there’s nothing to worry about. Your dislike for it maybe spurred him on to make more… Wow he’s not the sweetheart we painted him as.” Alya said in a humoured tone.
‘He did have a mischievous look in his eyes… Ugggh! This makes no sense!’
It really didn’t, Marinette couldn’t really think straight from the start of the class and well for the remainder of the time.
‘I need to clear my head’
And so she did, after she waved Alya off, Marinette transformed and took to the roofs of Paris. She leapt further and higher and swung faster with every thrust of her yo-yo. This was how she’d clear her mind, feeling the wind in her face and letting adrenaline coarse through her body. Her mind travelled to a simple and peaceful state were only she would be found.
Being Ladybug gave her that freedom, that indescribable fleeting feeling that she loves so much. Being Marinette is amazing but being Ladybug was equally as enchanting in such a different way.
The Hero in polka dots landed on top of Notre Dame and released a shaky breath of exhaustion. She didn’t particularly like the part where her adrenaline wore off and she was left exhausted.
She stepped near the edge and breathed in as much as she could from the familiar view she had fallen in love with so long ago. So high and secluded, her mind felt completely at ease. Until…
“Thought I’d find you here Miladybug” Chat’s voice said from behind her.
She gave him a deadpanned face without her knowledge.
“Everything okay?” he asked cautiously.
She snapped out of the facial expression and gave him a confused one “Yeah, just… needed fresh air. Chemistry class took a lot out of me today” she answered partially truthfully.
‘More like Adrien confusing me…’ she thought.
“Did your teacher tire you out? Lab partner?” he asked
“NO!” she answered too quickly.
“I-I mean no, Adrien couldn’t tire me out. He did confuse me today though” she said without thinking.
‘What am I saying? This isn’t something you should be discussing with Chat!’ she scolded herself.
“Oh?” Chat said surprised “How so?”
“Nothing to worry about” she answered again quickly, trying to dismiss the topic.
“Oh c’mon, he obviously got a reaction out of you” he punned playfully.
She snapped and was prepared to raise her voice.
“Oh my God you sound just-!”
Wait…
Time seemed though it slowed down.
And the more the realisation came to her the faster time sped.
Chat Noir’s eyes constricted at his mistake and wrapped his own hand around his mouth which was clearly not going to help him now.
Marinette could only stare at him in a mixture of shock, anger, happiness, relief and pure… pure realisation.
“-just like him… Adrien?” she breathed out.
He could only stare at her. He thought this moment would be… less tense. He pictured running into his arms and boom! Happily ever after! But he couldn’t quite comprehend how his heart was ready to shatter if she rejected him.
She wasn’t sure what to think until her brain recalled all the times they had been heroes together…
“A-all this time…” she mustered some words out in which Adrien became more anxious.
‘All those flirts, patrols, him jumping in front of me all the time… oh my- I kissed him during the Dark Cupid incident! This… this can’t be real!’
“Marinette, don’t be mad” Chat asked walking towards her, looking so… worried and sad.
The masked hero let out a shaky breath, forgetting her own anxieties, and looked to her partner who looked as if she pulled a knife on him. She knew full well of his fear of being rejected. In the end did he really want to be found out?
“Silly cat,” she breathed out, still comprehending what’s going on in front of her and forgetting everything that made her worry.
“Remember what I said? I wouldn’t think- I couldn’t think less of you.” She shakily spoke
“R-really? You don’t hate me?” He looked down at his feet
“N-never!” She took a step closer to him
‘You just happen to be the boy I have a crush on’
“W-what?” Adrien choked out.
Marinette’s face turned either pale or burning red.
“D-did I s-say that out… out…loud?” she managed to say.
He nodded slowly and looked to the ground again but not in sadness but in disbelief.
‘I want to die. I want to die. I WANT TO DIE’ she screamed internally.
“So… do you only like Adrien?” he asked in a monotone voice.
Her thoughts of how she wanted to die died… pun intended and she focused on Adrien.
Her heart soared at that moment and she could only do what she’s been afraid to do all this time.
“I thought I did… until an ally cat kept sneaking his way into my mind.” She mumbled due to her embarrassment.
He could hear her perfectly though and his heart felt like combusting with joy.
The several steps that separated them were being filled by Adrien, slowly but fast enough to send Marinette’s heart into her throat and nearly choking her.
Only a step separated them and Marinette couldn’t move, she could only look into familiar green eyes that looked at her so fondly and lovingly.
‘What is he going to do’ she panicked
In a swift move, Adrien’s arms wrapped around Marinette’s small frame and encaged her in warmth and his head tucking itself in the crook of her neck.
He didn’t forcefully grab her and trap her, no, the right words were soft and gentle and dare Marinette think- blissful.
“If you want me to let you go, say so.” He whispered but at the same time also desperately asking her not to say no.
She didn’t; she instead had raised her own arms and wrapped them around him. Hugging him back felt so natural and it felt better than any adrenaline she could muster up jumping from building to building.
Adrien’s heart swelled at her returning the hug. But he yearned for more…
He lifted his head and leaned back to look at her.
She looked up at him, her eyes bold and blue and certainly curious. Her cheeks were bright red and making her look absolutely adorable.
“Marinette… I want to kiss you” he whispered.
Her whole face turned red and she had immediately averted her eyes from his.
“I won’t if you don’t want to” he quickly added.
She looked up at him quickly “I-it’s not that I d-don’t want to” she interjected “It’s just…uh… it’s m-my first-”
“It’ll be mine too” he smiled and reassured her.
She stared at him, feeling anxious and so unbelievably happy at the moment. She bit her lip out of habit which didn’t help Adrien contain himself.
“I-I want to kiss you too” she confirmed.
He smiled and leaned down slowly until their lips met in a sweet and pure first kiss.
She couldn’t keep her eyes open at all; her thoughts were drowned by the feeling of Adrien’s lips on her.
First kisses were exactly what they are set out to be- a learning curve, a new sensation, a burst of affection. The kiss was short but the two felt like it had been longer and wished it would last longer but they slowly separated, both flushed and very embarrassed.
Marinette started to giggle all of the sudden which caused Adrien to raise his eyebrow at her playfully.
“And what is so funny, Milady?”
She stopped her giggling “I just realised something… You also gave away your identity! And with a stupid chemistry pun too!” she giggled again loudly.
He couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face. Looking at his lady, his Marinette giggle at him and return his feelings. He couldn’t feel any happier right at this moment.
“Chemistry puns are not stupid! They are the cat’s meow!” he grinned.
“And now you’re lumping in your cat puns, how pawful” she deadpanned.
“See my lady, we are meant to be” he grinned.
She only rolled her eyes at him. And let her mind wonder again,
‘To think this dork of a cat had been sitting right in front of me in class this whole time’
‘He was closer than I thought’

Take Two: The Guardian in Gotham Chapter One
First: You are here   Previous: None   Next    Ao3
Trigger warning: Name-calling and Physical Assault
Smack!  The sound of a fist colliding with flesh reverberated through the air. Marinette felt her head snap back from the force of the blow, as the warmth of her blood traced its way down her face. Its sharp iron tang filled the air as Alya and Lila looked down at her, lying on the floor, and laughed.
Their insults filled her ears as she curled into a ball and tried to protect herself from the verbal and physical assault.
Bully!  they cried as they descended on her in a fury.
Loser! A whispered insult as they tripped her in the hallways.
Unlovable.  A sneer when they saw how she sat alone
Worthless they laughed as they kicked her in the ribs.
Liar! They screamed when she tried to plead her case.
Useless  they hissed when she refused to help.
Their words filled her ears and marched in circles around her head, drowning her in the deep red tsunami of sorrow and cruelty.
Adrien had a photoshoot, so he wasn’t there to reign them in. They took full advantage of his absence to rough her up as much as they wished.
Blow after blow, kick after kick, she laid there, eyes closed, taking the hits. Completely still, and utterly  numb .
The sharp crack of her broken wrist, and the sickening crunch as someone stomped on her leg were the only signs that indicated they were still there. She didn’t even bother opening her eyes, even as the sharp pain of thousands of knives stabbing her leg, and spearing her wrist worked its way through her body.
She knew what she would see.
She didn’t think she could take their harsh glares, and scowling faces. Not today.
Eventually, they got bored of pushing her around and using her as a punching bag.
They left her there, lying in a pool of her own blood. Alya and Lila high-fiving each other as they headed off to the park. The rest of them followed, chatting about various extracurriculars, and (in Alix and Kim’s case) discussing their latest bet.
Triggering Scene Over
It was hours later that Marinette found the energy to open her eyes.
She could hear Tikki fretting and flying around her worriedly.
Her fingers twitched, sending sharp lances of pain up her arm.
As she opened her eyes, the faint buzzing in her ear solidified into words.
“-rinette! Mari! Wake up, please!” Tikki’s voice was heartbroken and terrified. “Oh my precious bug,” she cried “what did they do to you?”
It was not a question. It was the lament of a kwami, broken at the sight of her Chosen lying so lifelessly on the ground.
Her blood had crusted on her face and in her hair. She could feel the cold liquid seeping through her shirt from where she lay curled on her side. She laid there for what seemed like days until she found the energy to try and speak.
“...Tikki?” She questioned. Her voice a faint whisper. She wet her lips, ignoring the sting as she brushed the cuts on her mouth. “Tikki? Can you hear me?” She tried. Marinette’s head was pounding from the sudden noise, and she saw black flecks in her vision. Little dancing spots in the air that were slowly going larger.
Oh Marinette! I’m so sorry this happened to you! Yes I can hear you! What do you want me to do! I can call you parents if you want! Do you want me to? Here let me get Kagami and Adrien and the rest of you team...” Tikki’s sudden frenzied rambling faded with her vision as Marinette tried to respond.
“Team.” She croaked out. “Tikki, get...team” She thought she might have responded, but she wasn’t sure. She suddenly felt very tired, Maybe she could close her eyes and just rest them for a little while…
---
Chloè had been relaxing at her daddy’s hotel when her phone rang. Leaning back on the plush leather seats of the sofa, she flicked her gem-encrusted sunglasses up off her face and reached over to her phone. She scoffed at the idea that someone would be stupid enough to interrupt her relaxation time, but then immediately smiled at the contact that flashed on her screen. “Maribug!!!” She chirped, waving her hands around wildly. “How are you? You’ll never guess what my daddy said-”
“Chloè?” Instead of Marinette’s low, sweet voice, Tikki’s high pitched and worried tones greeted her.
“Hey Teeks, what’s wrong? Is Nettie okay?!” Chloé questioned. Her bright smile shifting into a frown at the sound of the Kwami instead of her friend.
“No! It’s not okay! Lila and everyone beat up Marinette! You have to help her!!” Tikki cried.
Chloé’s eyes blew wide in shock. “Of course I’ll help! Oh poor Mari…” she trailed off, mentally running through all the disasters that could have occurred. Snapping herself out of her downward spiral, she jumped off the couch and ran out of the hotel, phone in hand.
“Tikki,” she asked firmly, “can you tell me where you are?” “Of course!” The Kwami squeaked “We’re in the locker room at school! Please hurry, she’s not responding to me anymore!”
“I’m on it! Let me text Luka and Kagami. We need to bust that alley cat out of his photoshoot and go rescue our bug!” The blond heiress cried, tapping away at her phone.
“Oh thank you Chloé!” The Kwami responded, nearly crying with relief.
“No problem. We’ll be there in ten!” She responded determinedly.
Hanging up the call, she immediately texted Luka and Kagami.
QueenofMean: Code Pink
QueenofMean: Mari’s in trouble
SnakeyBoi: What?! Who didn’t it to her?
SnakeyBoi: *did what
HissIAmADragon: Who hurt our Mari-san?!
HissIAmADragon: They will taste my blade!!
QueenofMean: Do you even have to ask? It was the lying witch.
QueenofMean: She’s ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!
QueenofMean: Now come on! She’s not responding to Tikki. We need to get Adrien out of his photoshoot and then head for the locker rooms at school.
SnakeyBoi: I’m already halfway there.
SnakeyBoi: Before you ask, your girlfriend’s with me too. ;)
Rolling her eyes at the idiocy of her friends, Chloé stuffed her phone into her pocket and ran towards Kagami and Luka’s figures in the distance. As she caught up with them Kagami turned to face her as they ran. “Adrien’s at the Louvre for his shoot. I told my mother that Mari-san was in trouble, and she said she would notify Gabriel.” she informed her.
“Your mom didn't yell at you? Impressive.” Luka responded, huffing out a laugh as they sprinted for the landmark.
“For your information Luka, my mother loves Marinette, and was willing to let me go once I informed her of the situation.” The fencer responded, not even sparing him a glance.
Chloé’s feet ached in her heels, but Marinette needed her! She couldn’t stop for some measly foot pain! Catching sight of a familiar blond head of hair, she raced even faster towards him, Kagami and Luka hot on her heels.
Adrien opened his mouth to ask what was going on, but even as he began to speak Chloé was there, grabbing him by his arm and dragging him away from his photographer. Kagami and Luka jogged in front of them as they raced towards the school.
“What-what's going on?! Where are we going? What are we doing! Does my father even  know that you guys have dragged me away?!” Several questions spilled from his lips as she towed him towards the school. Rolling her eyes at his idiocy, she opened her mouth to respond.
“-Lila and her gang beat up Mari. The school. Getting Mari to the hospital. No.” Kagami answered for her, deep brown eyes focused straight ahead. The fencer’s answers were blunt as always, but the tiny waver in her voice betrayed how worried she was for their friend.
To  Chloé’s utter annoyance, Adrien immediately stopped in his tracks and stood stock-still. He paused for a moment, gaping at nothing in particular, before a startled cry escaped his parted lips. “WHAT?!” He yelled.
Chloé glanced over to see his normally bright green eyes darken with feral anger.
“I know. I’m worried too. For now, we just need to get her to the hospital and tell her parents.” she snapped, brushing away tears with the back of her hand. The other tightened in a vice-like grip around his arm.
She heard him take a shaky breath as she continued to run. Pushing herself to go faster and reach their friend. There would be time for tears later. Right now their priority was Marinette.
As they sped up the stairs and into the school, Chloé caught a glimpse of a sausage-haired liar walking away from the school. Ignoring the liar, she opted to race up the stairs towards her friend.
 ---
It was a sunny day at the Louvre. The sparkling glass pyramid rose majestically in the background as the sunlight glanced off the clear panes. Adrien had been standing in the light in front of the famous landmark when Kagami, Luka, and Chloe came running towards him with matching expressions of cold determination. Kagami and Chloe both had tears in their eyes, and Luka was glaring at his phone in pure, unadulterated rage. Even though he knew that look wasn’t directed at him, Adrien still shivered in fear. Whoever had made the calm, laid-back musician angry was  not  someone he wanted to meet.
He opened his mouth to ask what was going on, but even as he began to speak Chloe was there, grabbing him by his arm and dragging him away from his photographer. Kagami and Luka jogged in front of them as they raced towards the school.
“What-what's going on?! Where are we going? What are we doing! Does my father even  know that you guys have dragged me away?!” The torrent of questions tumbled from his lips as he quickly pumped his legs to match their pace.
“Lila and her gang beat up Mari. The school. Getting Mari to the hospital. No.” Kagami responded, her deep brown eyes focused straight ahead. Her answers were blunt as always, but the tiny waver in her voice betrayed how worried she was for their friend.
Adrien stopped moving as his brain tried to compute the information. Mari..was beaten up? She had to go to the hospital? What about her parents?! Did they know?! All these questions were running through his head as he tried to voice his concerns in a dignified way. The only thing that came out was “WHAT?!”
Yep. Nailed that one, Agreste. He thought to himself.
“I know. I’m worried too. For now, we just need to get her to the hospital and tell her parents.” Chloe snapped, brushing away tears with the back of the other hand. The other tightened in a vice-like grip around his arm.
He took a shaky breath and tried to reel in his racing thoughts. Right now their priority was Marinette.
As they sped up the stairs and into the school, Adrien caught a glimpse of sausage-haired pigtails turning the corner towards the subway. He clearly wasn’t the only one, as he noticed Luka was fingering his guitar in a way that indicated he was going to bash someone over the head with it, and saw how Kagami's hands twitched towards her fencing sabre. Reaching the locker room, Luka nearly ripped the door off its hinges in his desperation to get to their friend. They ran inside and stopped short at the gruesome sight awaiting them.
