Wonderful WONDERFUL Week at Wilford & Phebe Woodruff Home

Peter and I have been TREMENDOUSLY blessed to have begun this week, Sunday, May 22, afternoon! This home is such a HUGE BLESSING to be able to serve in, where we have learned much and felt the Spirit each and every day we've been here. The Spirit is especially strong as we have born witness to the faith, dedication and commitment of Wilford and Phebe Woodruff to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the building up of His Kingdom on the earth, wherever and whenever they were asked to serve! They perservered through many trials, afflictions and separations all for "Christ's sake." As we have taken people through the Woodruff home, we have had our testimonies strengthened of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that through small and simple things, great things come to pass.

An interesting experience for me was when Brother Aaron West brought some sister missionaries into the parlor, who are performing sisters here for just a few months, he had a couple sisters read quotes from a narrative representing Eunice Woodruff Webster, Wilford Woodruff's sister. Prior to the readings, as they were going to act out Eunice Webster, he instructed the sisters to strike out the last sentence of Eunice's script, which mentioned always following the Prophet. That was because of the fact that Eunice and her husband, Dwight Webster, didn't follow the prophet but went down the wrong path of the Strangites. I raised my hand and mentioned that Wilford Woodruff was very upset about that, to which Brother West responded, "I don't know that story." I had remembered listening or reading about that in Saints, Volume 2, Chapter 2. It was especially troubling to Wilford Woodruff that his own sister and brother-in-law were apostatising from the Church, since he had baptized his sister about 10 years earlier, after he served a mission to the Fox Islands, off the coast of Maine.

Suffice it to say, after the sisters and Brother West left, I simply didn't think it was a great idea for Eunice to be portrayed in the Woodruff home at all because of the path she and her husband chose to follow. So, the happy ending to all of this is that Sisters Weed and McCarthy came by Friday morning with the GREAT news that no one will be portraying Eunice Woodruff Webster!! Yeah Yeah Yeah!! Instead, the beautiful young sisters portrayed Phebe Woodruff in a WONDERFUL, SPIRITUAL manner to our guests on this Blessed Friday in the sacred space of the Woodruff home, where we've been privileged to serve!!

Whether or not the choice was made not to portray Eunice Woodruff Webster in the Woodruff home because of my comment to Brother West, I'll never know. However, at the very least, I'm grateful that I made the comment because of not liking the fact that an apostate would be represented in such a sacred, holy place. There are too many wonderful things to be said about Phebe and WIlford's faithfulness to needlessly take up time portraying the less faithfull woman, who Wilford himself was "incensed" with, as Eunice and her husband fell away. What a happy note to begin our day today!!

Yet another very happy, fun and unusual things happened with the beautiful young sisters is that we thought an older man was coming in for a tour, but invited us to pick out a drink from the back of his pickup truck :)) He had driven to the Nauvoo Temple yesterday and before going back to his home in Muscatine, Iowa, wanted us to pick out a soda, Gatorade or other zero sugar drink, which we did! He didn't even want to tell us his name, nor did he want us to thank him, which I did anyway in English and then Spanish. Then Peter thanked him in Swedish. That was a wonderful, unexpected and fun experience for all of us!!

In essence, we've had a VERY VERY Wonderful week in the Woodruff home and I'm looking forward to serving there again sometime soon!!

what kind of hobbies does machete have, and is there any artist, musical or visual, that he likes in particular?

He's an avid reader and has an impressive personal library. Crowds and big public events aren't his thing but he enjoys going to theatre and opera occasionally. He commissions and collects art, I'd like to believe he's a patron to at least a couple of painters and sculptors. due to the nature of things right now and the possibility of this site sinking ship i'm looking into possible ways of moving my AUs onto their own website(s). the only issue i'm running into right now is how i would manage to use an ask box. the only possible alternative i have right now is using disqus (what i use for the SC site comments) but that would make all questions public and make people able to reply to each other and i don't really want that

Honestly the next chapter or so is really scratching an itch for me, as far as church communities go. It's been a hot minute since I was last at a church that I really connected with a church [I live in a very conservative area and the churches here aren't very friendly to my current views] but when I was a kid, the sense of community that came with church was very nice. People genuinely cared if members of the congregation, even ones who didn't come often, disappeared for prolonged periods of time. I haven't been to my childhood church in over 10 years, but sometimes when members see me around town, they still run up and talk to me and ask me how I've been.

It is! Due to the push for young people to go to college and get jobs that utilize those degrees, the United States has actually seen a concerning decrease across the decades of people who are qualified to do trade work such as plumbers and electricians, etc. As a result, the population in those trades is aging quickly, and we are anticipating that there won't be enough people to do those jobs very soon. A lot of them are nearing retirement age. Thanks to that demographic shift, young people entering those trades are a very high demand, and in many areas, the pay for such a job can be like 50,000 a year, which can be a solid living wage on par with something like teaching. And in most cases, the apprenticeships are paid, which is definitely a consideration for people who don't want to deal with student loans.

Is it ok if we print some of your artworks? Not to sell them or profit by them in any way, just for decorative reasons.

Also, I know you don't have a shop where we can buy any prints/stickers/anything (if you did I wouldn't even consider printing them by myself) but have you ever thought of actually making one? Maybe, if not your own shop, sign up(?) on inprnt or something?

Sure! If you just want to print out my art so you can stick it on your wall or something, go ahead. (As long as it's just personal non-commercial use and you're not claiming ownership over the artwork or the characters).

I used to have a Society6 shop but I closed it last year, mostly due to changes in their terms of service. They were cutting into artists' already meager profits, and the last time I heard of it, they were planning to add a subscription fee on top of that. It just started to feel a little bit exploitative. (I also had read some reports that the quality of some of their products had gone downhill over the years but I can't attest to that).

I already have an Inprnt account waiting in the wings, but I haven't gotten around to adding any prints to it yet. (Are there any specific pieces you'd potentially be interested in? I know people ask about the 'You cannot eat money' one pretty frequently.)

America isn't the only nation where immigrants are being given aid above its own citizens. The UK is actively placing immigrants over its own citizens for financial aid, housing and healthcare. UK families have been on housing lists for months but immigrant families are housed within days to weeks. Our healthcare is free so immigrants are flocking here and combined with the crippled state of our healthcare system already, I've been waiting literal months for a basic GP appointment while the as part of aid initiatives, immigrants are being given priority.

And no, I am absolutely not saying we should not help people, or that people shouldn't come to the UK and be helped, because I absolutely believe that people fleeing volatile countries and situations have a basic right to be given refuge, but when they're fleeing to places that are already in a downward slide of taking care of the people who've lived there their entire lives, and it then begins to prioritise its already lacking resources not into diving care equally but into providing care for immigrants, its a problem.

Our NHS is already crippled and at risk of being made for-profit like America and with more and more people coming to the UK specifically for the free healthcare and more affordable living (which, trust me, its not so affordable anymore) we are literally running out of resources and people who've lived here their entire lives are losing out on housing, healthcare, financial aid and other resources because they're all being given to people seeking refuge. We can't keep going like this but our Government won't listen to us and won't work with other countries and Governments to help allocate resources, space and divide the number of people coming here. We're a small country. We don't have half the room America does or half the resources.

And you think the reason for all health, education, housing, public service, civic/arts, infrastructure, economic, etc funding being cut for British citizens, after 13 years of the Tories deliberately and extensively cutting all that funding, is because of......... immigrants?

Hello again, I'm the anon who felt stupid about the whole Jungkook being a cook situation. Thank you so much for answering so nicely and thoroughly, I was a bit scared that my question would sound sarcastic or judging when it was anything but. I already knew about the companion system that meant Jimin and Jungkook would be in the same place. I just had no idea what type of role they had taken. As for Jungkook, he already loved cooking, so if that is what he does during MS, I hope it make him content. I personally was just super happy to hear from him today. I too am happy for him, he doesn’t have to prove himself to anybody. He is a singer and entertainer. That is his life’s work. This is a pause in his life where we are privileged to keep up with him where we can.

He’s shown us how much he loves to eat AND loves to cook. How lovely has it been that we’ve been able to see him in action cooking several times, sharing recipes with us and cooking for him and Jimin in the Monuments documentary!

I just. I love Fibula and Femur because they fit the "you came back different" shtick so well. Not wrong, but different. Femur recognizes that Fibula is very different from the brother she remembers, and she both loves it for him and hates how his past still seems to be weighing him down. She loves that he's finally getting to cast aside the burdens the world placed on him and do what he wants for once, even if it makes him seem very far from the quiet brother she once knew. But she also hates how he's being manipulated by Eggman, how his gratitude for being brought back to life is being twisted against him in a similar way to how his good and helpful nature was twisted against him before he died. She just wants to see him happy, no matter how much he's changed.
