I watched #posefx for the umpteenth time last night. It raised a question for me. Why do we never talk about homophobia as an institution being one of the logs in the fire of the AIDS epidemic of the 80s and 90s? I hear a saturation of stories of sexual freedom/promiscuity but never hear stories clearly connecting the transphobia of employers not hiring them and the act of minors being kicked out of the home because of their queerness being a driving force for transwomen and other queer people to the sexual high risk profession of prostitution. Why don't we discuss the promiscuity of the era with the abandonment issues stemming from being minors kicked out on the streets or trying to fuck a father or mother back into their life because their biological parents couldn't deal with their queerness. I guess my question is this....Do heterosexual cis-gendered people know how they played, and continue to play, into the viral slaughtering of people?
