Wanted to post something between comm pieces!

This is Lyor LeDrac, Bori's younger brother and also a Timeline Traveler all his own. He's:

Sans-adjacent, and

Chesire-cat esque in personality.

Aside from this, They've got a bit of a Cat-and-Mouse chase dynamic with my boye Betsalel (My Seven Deadly Sins!Sans) whom I may post the turnaround references of when I get the chance!

Oh, and Lyor uses He/they pronouns c: I figured it'd be neat to switch it up a bit.

EUREKA, UTDR THEORISTS.

I have been working on a theory regarding all of our repetitive smiles. All the weird smiles we don't know the meaning of in Undertale and Deltarune? That theory attempts to solve this mystery.

I call this theory, the Cheshire Smiles Theory, or the Consequences Theory. Bear with me on this one because it'll be a wild [Ride Around Town].

Disclaimer, this theory bases itself off the "Chara is the consequence, not the villain" theory, the "Kris hates us" theory, the overpopular "MysteryMan is Gaster's sprite" theory and the whole shtick of the secret bosses seeking out freedom. This theory also bases itself around the concept of Consequences a LOT. If you don't believe/like any of those theories, read at your own risks and don't get angry at me. I warned.

What is a cheshire cat's smile?

Smiling like a cheshire cat, as defined by google, goes as follows : "The Chesire Cat grin is an expression made by The Trickster who's up to something, and 'something' never bodes well for the person they are smiling at. Usually, it involves their total humiliation - occasionally it involves mortal danger."

Alternatively, a cheshire cat smile can be compared to the very literal meaning of it : The smile found on the enigmatic Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. The peculiar traits we'll focus on here will be the enigmatic smiles behind which he hides, as well as its ability to disappear and appear at any time.

In Undertale and Deltarune, however, smiles are relatively common. Happy smiles like Papyrus and Undyne's, embarassed smiles like Alphys', fake smiles like Rouxls Kaard's, hopeful smiles like Asgore's and Asriel's, evil smiles like KING's and somewhat Queen's? But most notably Flowey (the absolute king of evil and fake smiles here). This leaves a type of smile : The type of smile found on Chara, Spamton, Jevil, Sans to an extent, MysteryMan/Gaster, Spamton NEO, Kris in the Ch1 ending, and the TV's smile in the Ch2 ending. Those, are which I'll refer to as cheshire smiles, and I believe they come from a specific cause : Consequences. Those smiles that seem to appear and disappear when we least expect it? They're all thanks to the consequences of actions. Ours, theirs, actions overall. And I'm going to explain why.

Undertale's Cheshire smiles

The most obvious cheshire smile I think about here is Chara's. Chara, the demon that comes when you call its name. You only see their smile upon completing either a No Mercy run, or a Post NoMercy Pacifist run. Chara is the literal embodiment of the consequences of our actions, here to delete our world regardless of our choice after a No Mercy run, here to remind us of our actions if we try a Pacifist afterwards. Chara is there. Chara remembers. Chara reminds. Chara is the consequence we deserve. And their smile is engraved in our game, as a consequence of making the underground go empty. And it will be there every single time.

Chara here is the whole basis of why this theory exists. A smile that we don't expect, a smile that randomly appears, and a smile motivated by the consequences of our actions. The perfect place to start. Chara is going to be our standart for what a Cheshire smile means in Undertale and Deltarune alike.

Our next candidate in Undertale will be Sans. Although Sans doesn't constantly seem to fit the description of cheshire smile, he is actually one of those that fits the BEST, both based on Cheshire Cat standarts and Chara standarts. He appears and disappears at will, has an unforgettable smile, is a literal judge, is silly and lazy (like a cat) but also, the Sans fight is the most memorable consequence of doing the No Mercy run. Sans' true smile, different from his smile in the textbox, only appears in the ending of a run most of the time, be it in the True Pacifist ending, or the No Mercy ending, we will be faced with that smile, possibly for dozens of times over. I don't count Papyrus, because Papyrus' smile is always innocent, happy, cheerful, confident. Sans' smile never shows emotion, he's a pokerface. Yes, I know, he appears shocked when we hit him but come on. This doesn't disprove it. Sans is peculiar also in the sense that he is very much depressed. Be it through the HP is Hope theory, or just by Undertale lore standarts, it's obvious Sans is depressed and his smile isn't there for himself. Which WOULD qualify him as a fake smiler if the whole rest of the explanation didn't matter, and if the Sans lore wasn't as complicated as it is. It's obvious something happened to make Sans stay like this, he's not just keeping it up for the image. We've yet to discover why, though.

The last member of this list will be MysteryMan/Gaster. I know he's relevant in both games, but his first real appearance is in Undertale plus his lore is in Undertale, so I'll put him there. Gaster is similar to Sans in his cheshire traits, in the sense that he is incredibly mysterious, basically can disappear at will, and his smile seems frozen on his face. A trait also similar to Cheshire Cat is that he doesn't seem real despite being in front of us. However, Gaster has no relevant appearance in the game for us, why would his smile be cheshire if there's none of our consequences? Well that's it, the consequences aren't OURS. They're HIS. His smile is frozen like this, frozen through time and space, because his ambition caused him to fall into his own creation. He was his own downfall, and as a consequence, he is stuck like this. Once again, a smile caused in consequences.

Notes

One could argue OMEGA Flowey's smile is a cheshire one, given the entire embodiment of consequence that he is. However, that's the only trait he has, a consequence that's not even caused. It's a decision he takes, the only consequence is that he looks like that after taking the souls, nothing more. OMEGA Flowey, much like Flowey, has a smile stuck in the Evil Smiles cathegory.

Mad Dummy and Mad MewMew don't count here, as their smiles are either malicious or, in No Mercy, genuine happiness. While the latter comes from a consequence, it isn't nearly relevant enough to be cheshire, and has no implication aside from "I finally became myself".

Deltarune's Cheshire smiles

With the Undertale part out of the way, time for the big bit of this theory : Deltarune. And oh boy do I have a lot to talk to. Bear in mind, Chara's smile is the standart Cheshire smile portrayed by Toby Fox.

Our first contestant here will be Kris. Kris? But they never smile!. . . They do, once to our knowledge. In the Chapter 1 ending, Kris flashes a menacing, yet.. Familiar smile to us. I believe this smile is the consequence of us, the soul, possessing them and making them do all of this, and their smile here as well as their actions is their way to fight back. It's to send a message to us, that consequences are coming. This smile is VERY reminiscent of Chara's own smile, which shows up at the end of the run and reminds us that our actions WILL have consequences. This is exactly Kris' message here, I believe. Small note here, this will be the one smile that barely doesn't fall out of cheshire. It's WAY on the fronteer, but given how relevant Kris' smile is in this scene, it barely makes it in.

Next up is Jevil, our good ole' jester of the deck himself. Jevil is probably the character that smiles the most in Deltarune, as he never gives it up. Even the Devilsknife is smiling, to quote him, and he IS the Devilsknife. Jevil has the silliness, and the ability to disappear to reappear, while also having the dangerousness and most of all - being optional. The consequences here, again and much like with Gaster, don't come from us. Seam (a smiling cat..how peculiar and conveinient.), Jevil's friend, gives us insight and story on Jevil. Evidently, Jevil found himself behind bars due to his false belief of being free to do anything, and going rogue because of it. Jevil broke, and his insanity lead him to where he is today as a consequence. Jevil is stuck smiling in his little freedom in the end.

We've been to one end of the freedom scale, let's go to the other end : Spamton G. Spamton. This guy has probably the biggest amount of consequence events in the entire Deltarune yet. He was a salesman, got a phonecall and as consequence his smile was everywhere, the phonecalls left so he fell to the dumpster and now he's just a smiler puppet craving ..something. The biggest reason I bring him to the table is because HE IS LITERALLY A COPY PASTE OF CHARA IN THE SNOWGRAVE RUN. He gives us the weapon of the kill, tells us how many left, and he is the overpowering force you meet at the very end of Chapter 2's dark world if you do Snowgrave. In parallel he calls out every single action you've taken. He literally does Chara's job in Deltarune Chapter 2's weird route, in which he becomes the embodiment of the consequences of our actions. In the normal route, as himself, he's a broken man trying to escape the situation his own consequences put him in. Spamton NEO is his own worst invention, an award losing smile to lose it all. Another thing that shows the cheshire in Spamton would be the way he seems to be everywhere. Check any dumpster, it'll have a pillow inside. Spamton lives everywhere. Even the LoadedDisk item smiles in your hand, like Devilsknife with Jevil.

Finally, the TV at the end of Chapter 2. I think it's going to be a prelude to a cheshire smile, it has the design for it already and with all the smiles we've encountered so far, this feels very much like Kris' smile. A prelude to danger, a message. We know one thing for sure : it's here because of a bad consequence. Kris opened a dark fountain, despite Ralsei's warnings. As a result, this smile comes into play to tell us things are about to go south. I think this preludes a Cheshire smile for the character this is supposed to foreshadow, especially considering their entire smile will be a reminder of Kris' actions in opening that fountain to begin with. If it's Mike's smile? We'll probably see it everywhere.

Notes

One thing I didn't mention is something I said at the very beggining. The cheshire cat's smile is prelude to danger and a bad message, which Jevil, Spamton NEO and the TV's smile all represent.

Similar to previous examples, Ralsei, Susie and Lancer are no cheshire. They're not a consequence, and Ralsei's smiles are of utter kindness, Susie's are usually positively mischievous or just genuine, and Lancer. . .is Lancer.

Important to note here that Mike essentially humiliated Spamton, which feeds even more in my theory of Mike's smile being cheshire-esque.

There you have it. My entire theory on the hidden types of smile through both games. I believe this will probably amount to something in the end of Deltarune if my theory prooves true, and if it does, then the ending of Deltarune might really change as a consequence of finding all of those secret bosses. But that's a theory for later.

HeliosR - Ren Kisaragi Card story ‘‘Memories of Alice’’

Translation of Ren Kisaragi's 2nd anniversary card story from ‘Helios Rising Heroes’.

Bookstore manager: Come on in

Ren: Hello…

Bookstore manager: Oh my, it’s Ren-kun and Gast-kun. It’s been a while since you two dropped by. Roy’s out in town right now, if you’re here for him

Gast: Ah nah, there’s a book I wanna buy today-

Akira: Huh? If it ain’t Gast and Ren

Ren: ….? What’s the most unlikely guy you’ll find at a bookstore doing here?

Akira: I’ll have ya know it’s more likely than unlikely! Because today’s the day a new volume of “Demon Manslayer”’s getting released

Gast: Haha, Akira’s also on the hunt for that, huh. I wanna grab a copy too and since Ren said he’ll be goin’ to the bookstore, I tagged along

Ren: …..Don’t be too loud, you’re being a bother.

Akira: Haah? Even though I am being mega quiet!

Will: Geez, Akira, you know you can’t make a fuss in the bookstore… Huh, Ren? And Adler too…

Gast: Yoo, you’re here too, huh. Keepin’ Akira company?

Will: Oh no, there’s also a book I want to get-

Bookstore manager: Welcome

Little boy: Huh? That person over there…

Little girl: Ah, it’s Mister Alice!

Ren: …..!

Akira: Mister Alice?

Little boy: Are you gonna read for us again?

Ren: No, I won’t be…

Will: Come to think of it, you did mention how you held a reading at a bookstore before.

Akira: Huuuh~! You can put on a performance?

Ren: …More than you can.

Akira: Nu-uh, I can do it more than you can. Because yours truly is the man for infiltration missions. I have the acting prowess of a true genius, which made me right for the job.

Ren: It was because there wasn’t any other guy with too much free time on their hands.

Akira: HAAAH!? I was PROPERLY asked by Brad and Keith to-

Will: Both of you, that’s enough

Gast: The kids are watchin’ too. And you’re bothering the other customers, y’know?

Ren & Akira: ……..

Bookstore manager: Ren-kun, Gast-kun. The children are telling me how they would like for you two to do a reading again…

Ren: Eh…

Bookstore manager: Since Gast-kun is here after all, why not. You can even keep it simple, so how about doing it for a little while?

Gast: I ain’t got a single prob with it. What ‘bout you, Ren?

Little boy & girl: Please, Mister Alice!

Ren: Uh…….

Ren: O-okay. If it can be kept simple…

Akira: Heh heh heh, we’re also gonna watch. Show us what kinda acting you can pull off

Ren: …..

Gast: Alright, guess we’ll get ready

Gast: “Although it had been a curious dream for Alice, she believed it to be wonderful. The end.”

Little boy: That was fun~!

Little girl: I love Mister Alice~!

Will: You gave it your all and it was absolutely amazing, Ren. Right, Akira?

Akira: Hmm… Now ain’t he pretty good at it

Ren: … It’s been a while since I acted, but I remembered the mannerisms.

Gast: ‘Cuz of the efforts from Doc’s acting class♪

Akira: …? Who taught you acting?

Ren: Victor did. He even shed tears as a performance.

Gast: Yup yup, that was mindblowin’

Will: Victor-san… He’s impressive enough by being a hero and a researcher, but being able to go that far…

Gast: Seems that it’s cuz of Doc and Marion being there during the reading at the time that we could do it so well.

Ren: ….Yeah

Will: (...Ren, look at you getting along with everyone in your team. Even going as far as to hold a reading for the children… That reminds me, he mentioned how he did that touring job too.)

Will: (Ren’s more than plenty like a hero from how he’s working for the sake of the people…)

Akira: Hold on though, since when was “Alice in Wonderland” that kinda story?

Ren & Will: …Eh?

Akira: I mean like, when it comes to Alice in Wonderland, you got Alice wielding this wobble sword, and together with the Mad Hatter and Chesire Cat, they all defeat the Queen living in Trump Castle, yeah?

Gast: Oi oi, what part of that makes it Alice? Actually, what’s a “wobble sword”...?

Will: He’s probably thinking of a “vorpal sword”. I want to say he’s just mixing up a bunch of stories together but… I feel like I kind of remember hearing about that too…

Ren: ….Nee-san would often tell us that story.

Will: Ah, that’s right, it’s Shion’s…!

Akira: And if I remember it correctly, at the end Alice and the Queen make up, then embark on a journey in space together on the White Rabbit’s carrot rocketship?

Akira: No, wait a sec? There were other things too, like the Chesire Cat being a spy sent from the other side of the mirror, and saving Alice from the Queen taken over by darkness.

Ren: …Nee-san would change up the story each time she told us.

Will: That’s amazing, Akira. I didn’t remember that much from these

Akira: Heheh, my memories’ power is genius. As genius as me!

Ren: …You only memorize the dumbest things.

Akira: Ain’t that plain ol’ smack talking now!

Little boy: Mister, I wanna hear more of these Alice stories!

Little girl: Me too! Mister Alice knows them too, right? Tell us~

Ren: But, that’s not the real story…

Bookstore manager: Buuut~ it does sound interesting, I’d definitely would like for you to do it

Ren: …..

Gast: I’ll also pitch in if you’re gonna do it. I’m curious what it’s ‘bout too

Bookstore manager: How about it? Ren-kun

Ren: …If, the manager says so…

Little boy & girl: Yaaay~!

Will: Say Ren, can we come watch?

Akira: Sheesh man. I mean if ya keep insisting like that I just have to come and see, I guess.

Will: Akira……

Akira: I’m kidding, kidding. We’ll drop by to watch, so tell us when you’re gonna do it, aightRen: ………… Fine, I’ll remind you guys.

oml i’m glad that i managed to help!! and, sorry, but i gotta ramble here cause oml u and mari-san caught me in this wonderland au as well!!

first of all, hell yeah!! i think that shijima, being the queen of hearts who wanted wonderland to be perfect as an honor to her dead sister, is probs pissed at nene at first since she was uninvited to enter her territory and probs touched something that she shouldn’t have touch. at first, she wanted nene’s head or become one of her prisoners that are waiting for their execution until shijima is intrigued with their alice that she lets her go — and so, it leads to shijima inviting nene to that dinner-forgot-the-name, which also leads to it becoming chaotic since the entire cast is present.

and there is kako himself!! I think that instead of sleeping his old ass off, he is somewhere in wonderland after making his granddaughter, mirai, the ruler of the reds. no one knows where to find him (though tsuchigomori or the rabbit twins might have an idea or two of his current whereabouts) but kako knows where to find u and u can meet him if he visits u first (so mirai and akane still gets their grandpa visits once in a blue moon) — nene met him more than twice and doesn’t know that she’s talking with the actual red king since she’s new in wonderland, and just sees him as a cryptic old man. and similar in canon, kako stands in the sidelines and watches shit go down in wonderland.

and ur scenario of duchess sumire!! it does fit her ngl and kou as well of being both the cook and chesire cat! and it is hilarious to imagine that kou went insane with his cooking to the point that he repeats "pepper" when he's nervous.

also civil but furious and strong yako the gryphon?? fuck yeah civil but furious and strong yako the gryphon!!

then there is terukaneaoi!! god these three unhinged bitches deserves an entire page of talking about them because it’s going to be long

alright!! so first — aoi, the white queen!! i think that she was forced to become the queen and she hates it so much because she doesn’t want to rule, she wants to be in her garden and sink her hands into the dirt instead of strategizing on how to kill the red queen and her personal knight. her side is on par with shijima’s perfectness, like it’s too peaceful and too neat and too perfect that it feels so wrong but it’s difficult to explain — and nene might not see it at first but would later realize that those in the red side are more free (chaotic but can control themselves and still enjoy what their side offers) than those in the white side that are almost like dolls.

aoi hides her selfishness and pride behind her kind demeanor, having to put up the selfless queen that will do anything for her subjects — when in fact, she will save her own skin than the ones she once promised to protect.though she is genuinely kind at times and wants the best for them, the idea of being close with someone or sharing herself makes her paranoid at how it would make them be disappointed with her real self and hates her so she self-isolates.

she is good friends with nene!! taking her to her garden, having picnics with her, letting her sob on her shoulder — which makes nene a bit more biased for the white side and to her train of thought that the red side is evil because how could her best friend be cruel? but aoi still uses her as a pawn in her own chess board because why should she dirty her hands with blood when she had her own personal knight and alice to do it instead.

and then terukane!! god i ran out of brain juice for them and will come back for them i promise but i agree on terukane!!

and oml i fucking forgot about the princess and mitsuba!! shame on me a hundred times for that!!

ok so at first, i thought of mitsuba to be dodo or the human!mitsuba and supernatural!mitsuba to be that egg-human twins (tweedledee and tweedledum??) but reading of how u put tiara as dodo, i offer having both mitsuba and tiara having that role!! — like, those two would argue considering their age differences with mitsuba acting as her guardian/big brother after (unwillingly) stole something together for the first time but, surprisingly, they worked well as a duo of robbing good shit from their unfortunate victims (and imagine mitsuba arguing with a literal child but stands firm on the ‘hurt tiara and i will steal ur goddamn heart and eat it’ hill!!). also imagine the humiliation u will get for getting urself robbed by a fucking 5-y/o and her girly guardian that shrieks every 5 seconds!!

that's all for my ramble!! i promise to be back with terukane i just ran out of brain juice cause of aoi

I don't have any" and then gets totally robbed of her shit by this little pipsqueak that couldn't even reach across her dress to her pockets, and a sissy girly faced boy that is completely terrified after the race but let Tiara issue it anyway, so he helps Tiara to Nene's pockets, and Nene is completely dumbfounded! (I also really like how we took the Dodo and made them a crime seeking wonderlandian duo, 10/10 decision)

also Mitsuba immediately jumping to eating her heart if Tiara is harmed. hilarious

and man did you get Aoi on point! I'm not really an Aoi writer much so I'm glad I have Anon here to fill in my faults ahaha~ I had that in mind but you just sealed the deal with explaining it! ty Anon you help me complete my wonderful au

anyways about tweedle dee and tweedle dum, honestly I'd like to cut them from the whole au! because I fucking HATED that part of the book, honestly I'd rather listen to a fucking bird or egg go on about nursery rhymes or poetry. BUT TWEEDLE DEE AND TWEEDLE DUM???? NAH

but if it were real!Mitsuba and fake!Mitsuba, I may have changed my mind because their constant "no it's like this!" and then agreeing to battle but never actually doing anything, and then randomly complimenting their rhymes but it's bc it's something THEY would say

can you imagine the MitsuKou? after the cook was abruptly put aside because Natsuhiko (the sleepy mouse) explains what it was made of instead of Kou's anxious "pepper" Kou was pushed of the stand and Mitsuba was snickering to himself, and Kou marches over there while the trial is in chaos, only to accidentally say "pepper" before he could even ask why he's laughing, which caused Mitsuba to make fun of him so bad, he now calls him "lame ass pepper cat guy" and it makes Kou go feral, Mitsuba loves making fun of his tail!

anyways besides MitsuKou

yes Nene is so biased and vents to Aoi about her encounters on her way to also become a Queen, and was saying how like, Akane tried to kidnap her but thank goodness the oh so handsome and charming white knight was there to rescue her! and Aoi's like, oh, you means THE red knight? oh my, right, totally don't personally know him or anything.. he's totally horrible (she met him once in person and it caused quite the stir, seeing as the knight was supposed to kill the queen, but instead he was awestruck, and when Teru arrived he was in such distress letting him get by, but only to find they were talking about tea! and not to mention the jealousy that welled up in Teru once he saw the red knights face! he'd only ever smiled at Teru once after a good fight! now he's giving his charismatic smile to the queen....so he kicked Akane out of their side of the board REAL quick, so that he'd have to continue fighting HIM, not talking to the white queen, he gave a very sly smile when he threw the red knight out, but Akane still gets to see the white queen from afar once in a while, he's very joyous about that)

oh yes and mysterious Kako! so fun, and when Nene gets a chance to civilly speak with Akane she asks about him but Akane has no idea what she's talking about because he could have sworn Kako didn't go to that event, it made Nene very confused about this supposed Red King, another thing she doesn't understand in wonderland...

it's practically Kako's job to be mysterious and civil in wonderland, and avoiding Akane because he knows Mirai has just put even more work on him and is practically fuming at the fact that Kako just let her do this! anyways I love the clock keepers ehehehe

and yes of course Shijima needs to honor her late sister, so Nene just coming in her BEAUTIFUL garden, off her head goes,

Headcannons de San Valentín

Llevé pensando mucho tiempo esto, no miento xD.

Train inicialmente no siente interés por San valentín, ya que no es que haya pasado ese día con alguien, ni con su familia o no que él recuerde. (Y con Saya paso poco tiempo asi que no le hubiera dado tiempo de vivir algo parecido)

Su neurona quizá se activaría por el factor chocolate, le encanta comer asi que eso incluye dulces, por lo que si le regalas chocolates de San valentín si o si le sacaras una sonrisita

Si aun no estan saliendo juntos, es probable que Train no entendiera el mensaje del chocolate, quizá pensaría que se lo entregas por obligación o como "amigo", el en ese momento posiblemente ya comenzaba a sentir algo por ti, pero en su lógica, era algo improbable que fuera por amor.

Si ya están saliendo juntos es cuando mas feliz se pone, casi que al momento abre la caja a comer los chocolates e incluso te hace comer del chocolate, él es afectuoso a su manera, rascando tu cabeza mientras de acerca a él para un abrazo rápido.

Puedo imaginármelo abrazándote desde atrás con pereza pidiéndote que le des de comer los chocolate ( Tu no lo rechazas obvio (?) )

Ten por seguuuuro, que el wey se sentirá poderoso si esta rodeado de hombres solteros quejándose del día, podría ver a Sven solo despotricando sobre como de ridículo es el día (En realidad no tiene novia) y que es una perdida de tiempo mientras Train esta descaradamente con tu regalo en sus manos completa e indirectamente presumiéndolo con una sonrisa de superioridad.

Sven: "Que, porque me miras asi"

Train: "OH? ¿De que hablas? Solo estoy comiendo los regalos que MI NOVIA me dio...¿Eh? ¿Que pasa? ¿Por que me miras asi?" Todo esto con una sonrisa como el gato Chesire.
