i do not necessarily care for christmas HOWEVER i do have favourite christmas movies are they as follows:

1. violent night (2022)

its santa

but he's an ex-viking

he has a hammer called skullcrusher

he swears

and kills people

convinced my parents to watch it last night

2. die hard (1988)

solidly good movie

did not start the test of time

you can tell its from the 80s

me and dad watch it ever year

3. rise of the guardians (2012)

do i have a thing for santa vikings?

honestly this one scared me as a kid

but its a good movie

brilliant animation

4. the santa claus 3: the escape claus (2006)

this is my favourite of the franchise

jack frost is a banger villain

also there's sarcastic child elves

5. nativity! (2009)

bit annoying but has charm

basically school of rock but its bilbo baggins and christmas

6. the bible (??? AD)

good premise

hard to read

liked the one about the four horsemen

honestly Channing Tatum showing up in Bullet Train for less than 3 minutes was the funniest thing about the whole movie and I'm not hating on the movie. It was funny. Ok, no. The fact that Ryan Reynolds is in it for even less time might be funnier.

…Also yes the irony of having a few christmas romcoms on here when I typically don’t like romcoms as a general rule it’s easier than saying I Have These Squicks and Okay This Is Fine, Specifically (and loathe the Halmark Christmas Romcom TM especially), but in all fairness these:

1) don’t have that Godawful Nowhere’s Ville + Love Triangle (and cheating on the existing boyfriend/fiance who they often give an Asshole Personality to make the later cheating seem less shitty except…Lumberjack TM is also a jerk…), and

2) are often incredibly self-aware that they’re a Christmas Romcom TM and commit to the bit or go Nah and do their own thing.

I can respect that. (But also, the complete over-saturation of christmas romcoms into the christmas genre. Watching then is kinda inevitable.)

If you haven't seen the movie Klaus on Netflix you need to stop everything you're doing this Holiday season and go watch it. Year after year it continues to inspire me in storytelling and in art. The hand animated film on Netflix that created a new software to create its extraordinary lighting captivates you with its breathtaking visuals and the ingenious origin story of how we got all of the Santa Claus traditions today. You never know where inspiration will come from, and for me, it was this magical Christmas movie (I even bought the art of the movie book to learn how they created this magic!)
