the other thing about being disabled in academia is everyone is like "yeah we can't do much about the buildings they're old :/" as if "old" being a synonym for "inaccessible" isn't just a constant reminder that the people who built the school did not imagine that someday someone like me might study there

#mod felix #obviously there's some stuff that's way more accessible with like. electricity. like. i can get to the second floor. for example #but like. it's still possible to have. for example. ramps. if you as a culture value disabled people and their work #i miss when i was at a school where 'these are old buildings' meant 'these buildings were built for cows instead of people' #rather than 'these buildings were built for students just not students like you' #and of course this is another one that applies to many marginalized groups and like. many groups more than disabled people #in the sense that like. my school was also built to explicitly exclude people of color. for example #but i speak from my own experience and my own experience is characterized by ableism more than anything else #but like . again if you read this and you're like 'this feels like it applies to me in ways unrelated to disability' #well it probably does.

i cant get over the whole time in the real world rick just sat there watching over morty and when he woke up finally rick sounded SO happy the way he just yelled his name excitedly the second he woke up,,,

I made my post about Dean Highbottom and then as I was writing my tags realised that his Hunger Games counterpart is Haymitch. and now my head is in my hands and I don’t think I’ll ever recover

#IM GOING TO CRY. I am part of the system I never wanted anything to do with it #I killed so many people without laying a hand on them. I never ever asked for this. I tried to say no. my hands are still bloody. #both turned to drugs to cope. both had a mentee who reminded them of someone they hated so much #(snow reminded the dean of his old friend. katniss reminded haymitch of himself) #both knew exactly how the games worked and all of its consequences because one made it and the other lived it #both lived in the shadows of the past and never really got out from it #but in the end one of them chose to be cruel to the children who they were asked to mentor #and the other loved even when it was killing him #god. twenty three years and they never managed to drown the fire out of him. his heart broke again and again #but he held onto those shards even as they made his hands bleed. and then one day two children appeared and pieced it back together #and some of it was missing and always would be. you can’t undo twenty three years of alcoholism and pain and grief and self loathing #but a lot of it was still there. far more than he ever even believed could have survived #Haymitch I love youuuuuuuuu I will always love you #and Dean Highbottom you were kinda cringe and lame. guynobody ass bitch. do better #haymitch abernathy #dean highbottom #thg #the hunger games #a ballad of songbirds and snakes #abosas

thinking about taissa in yellowjackets and mental illness specifically when she's talking to shauna and shauna is like i had all these plans that i didn't do because of the crash whereas taissa literally did everything she planned... but looking at their lives like shauna seems so stuck in the past married to her dead best friend's boyfriend and the others too all have this problem to an extent like nat especially is actively wallowing in her misery as an adult completely incapable of escaping it even temporarily without drugs but taissa is, if anything, the most stuck in the past because she absolutely refuses to acknowledge what happened and it shapes her life entirely, her life that doesn't feel real... her happy marriage is a farce her dream of running for office is completely unviable because of people's knowledge of her past, her relationship with her son being that he's ultimately afraid of who she is 'deep down', her other self, but like the other self IS her! like it's her pain her trauma and she literally doesn't want anyone to see it. and she's RIGHT to, because when they see it, they're afraid, they stay away from her, they say she's dangerous, terrifying. and that's straight up because they don't know her. only the other yellowjackets know her truly. everyone else literally only knows the front she puts on, even her wife and son. she's already fighting such an insane uphill battle as a black lesbian in general but specifically in politics, and everyone wants to KNOW. they want to know what she did and they want to see her bleed, they want to see her break, and she is so steadfast to not let them see it - but she can't escape it. you can't escape your trauma and what it has done to you, and that's all she wants, but it's boiling over, it's breaking her at the seams.
