I feel like people don’t talk about the aspects of Hannibal’s cannibalistic desires towards Will because I’m 70% sure that Hannibal would consider the absorption of a loved one in a sensory aspect as well.

Like he can hear, see, smell and touch Will, so of course he would want to taste him as well. Taste is a human sense constructed for delight and he would want to delight in being able to experience his loved ones on that level, like it’s the sensory experience of eating another and perceiving them with that taboo sense.

I’d also like to entertain the scene where Hannibal pricked his finger on the fishing gear and tasted the blood. Like is that not a taste for the sensory experience? Of course it could be a reference to kissing but he wanted to perceive what an object of Will’s would taste like when mended with himself, metal on metal.

I really need to rewatch Hannibal while entertaining this lens more I think it would be really interesting.

The fact that Main-verse Ooo is as good and as kind as it is (relative to the other universes shown so far, at least, it's obviously not perfect) all because of the same character that starts off as the OG series' antagonist, the person we were made to see as the bad guy (albeit an often ineffectual one) for several seasons, is making me lose my mind.

Imagine finding out the guy you spent your childhood beating up and saving princesses from is in fact a driving catalyst behind you being able to exist, and not only exist but also live in a world that knows what kindness is. All because that man, the same man who you've witnessed do terrible things, once met a little girl and taught her how to be good.

Simon's story really shows us that even if you lose your way and forget how it is to be good yourself, the world keeps the memory for you. That act of love Simon showed Marcy by protecting her and seeing her as more than the monster she thought herself to be created ripples upon ripples, small at first but eventually enough to help give their wreckage of a world—a world that easily could have been forsaken, its goodness overlooked because of its inhospitable remains—a chance to grow into something beautiful. Because of those very same ripples Simon created, the people of Ooo grew up in a world where they know enough about kindness that they were able and willing to spare the 'bad guy' some, to see beyond the wreckage and allow him to grow too.

In saving Marceline, Simon helped to not only to save the world, but also himself.

‘the world ends with you’ is a great title because it makes it sound like the world is set to end and it’s because of you, oh no this game is gonna be edgy. but no actually that phrase just means ‘your world begins and ends with you; it’s only as big as you’re willing to expand your horizons. so go out there and meet new people :).’ the title of the game is actually the wholesome moral of the story that gets namedropped about halfway through by a friendly character. the kicker is that the game IS edgy and the world IS heading towards destruction and you ARE unwittingly playing a part in it but that’s just a coincidence. it’s not related to the title actually

i stumbled across this audio and couldn't resist giving it the shaymien treatment! shaymien's an interesting duo, and this mashup really gets to the core of my thoughts on them. there's shayne, the put-together golden boy. except, he's only seen that way because he works at maintaining that image. and most people "see right through" him because it's hard for shayne to let anyone see chinks in his armor. then there's damien. he's seen shayne be vulnerable and still thinks the world of him. but that's the problem. damien's put shayne on a pedestal too high for him to reach. they’re almost inverses of each other. what happens when you put someone who thinks he's unlovable with someone who loves him too much? FIRST THING: There are hardly any loops in his writing and when there are its cause cursive calls for it, they are barely there 👀this tells me he is closed off and tense. Which, yes lol

SECOND THING: He writes his letters RIGHT LEANING, this tells me that he is intense and impulsive. Which.......yea, with his intenseness but impulsive? I think he has his moments now, of impulsiveness, but he strikes me as someone who takes things carefully and is only impulsive in those Fool's Gold moments

THIRD THING: He writes B I G, which tells me that he demands attention which is interesting 👀 almost like 'Watch me, I am going to be successful'

FOURTH THING: The cross of his 'T's are hella HIGH and barely on 'the stem' so here I would say that is borderline 'goals might not be grounded in reality'. Its like smack between that and 'Hight Self-Esteem' and honestly both are applicable cause I do think he technically does have high self-esteem. The only thing he doesn't have enough of, according to him, is money lol and it isn't a 'because of him' thing, its a 'because the world is unfair and sucks' thing, he believes he can get the money he needs to be free, its just the world that keeps it away from him, for now.

FIFTH THING: The writing is in a sloping upward direction! And this means he is 'Optimistic' lol which is also technically true, he is 'getting that bag' no matter what LOL Bro is optimistic about changing his life, for sure!

SIXTH THING: I want to say that he is actually writing in print and just connecting the letters and that tells me he is efficient. His letters just seem so deliberate and clear and very print like, its the simple connections that give off the vibe of cursive.

SEVENTH THING: This one is hard to tell cause this is a signature instead of a sentence where it would more clearly show, but the spacing between the first name and last isn't particularly that big of a gap or all that close either, so I think he is somewhere in the middle with this one which makes me want to say, he doesn't like crowds but does get lonely easy ;; (This one feels like I am stretching it but 7 is my favorite number and I just needed this one last ONE to get to 7 LOL)

One of the little bits of worldbuilding lore I really appreciate in the NW is how both vampires and witches have very distinct cultures around raising children.

Like, Thea and Blaise lose their parents and are immediately taken in by an increasingly long list of relatives, because witches (especially Harman witches) do not let their children be abandoned. It's a very village-centric society. Everybody pitches in to make sure the kids are looked after and cared for, all 90s matriarchal commune style. Even when Blaise is actively causing like, mayhem and destruction, the Crone of All Witches decides to take her granddaughters on full time despite being ninety years old and running half the goddamn Night World.

Comparatively, the vampires have a very... aloof style of parenting. It's quite business-like, and focused mostly on monetary support rather than emotional care. Vampire kids are expected to teach themselves most of their survival skills basically on the streets. Darwinist, y'know? Because vampire children are given a lot of what humans (and witches, it seems) would consider very adult freedoms, and are treated as functional members of Night World society quite young. It seems to be expected that most vampire kids who aren't kept in an enclave will learn how to defend themselves or they'll get fucked up. And if they can't defend themselves, well. Weakness gets culled, and all that.

There's a lot of examples of it, too. Vampiric parenting is pretty consistent across the books. James's parents support him financially, but he lives in an apartment by himself at the age of, what, sixteen? Probably younger, considering he was living there for a while by the time Secret Vampire starts. And Ash doesn't seem to have any consistency in his life, but he does spend all his time partying in Las Vegas, while it's implied both his parents are living on the east coast in an enclave. He goes to fetch his sisters when his father tells him to, but he never gives the impression that he especially likes his father, and in fact suggests that if Quinn hadn't been around when his father called, he might have ignored him. There doesn't seem to be much love lost there. And we don't even have to get into Delos's relationship with his father, the guy who treats him like a living weapon at best.

Actually, the closest thing to a loving, functional parental vampire relationship seems to be Jez and Bracken, and they only have like one scene together. Even then, he let her run around San Francisco without supervision from the age of five onward, and that's never treated as being especially outside of the norm. He makes sure she has a place to stay and goes to school, but he doesn't seem to keep track of her daily activities at all, or he does and doesn't care what she gets into so long as he doesn't personally have to deal with it.

And unlike the witches, there doesn't seem to be as big of a push to take on extra kids. That's Morgead's whole thing, that he's got a bone to pick with all the elder vampires that just ignored him when he was abandoned by his mom. Even if they do take in the kids without parents (like Bracken does), vampire parents don't provide much attention anyway. With Thea, she sees a whole future surrounded by other witches and continuing her education under the tutelage of her family. She was eighteen and would have continued to be monitored and cared for for years. Whereas Ash got attacked at the age of twelve, killed a much bigger vampire, and every single person who could have watched out for him was like "yep he's good give him a credit card and let him go do whatever" and he just does.
