Basic Stuff
I'm a freak by many a name. But I go by Soda, Cece, Admin, Ary, Xefros, Sol and Rezi mostly. Seriously. Any of those will do. Hell, I'll take new names aswell. Drop them name recommendations lmao
I'm 14 aswell, in Year 10. (I chose Triple Science, French and History if you wanted to know about my GCSE choices.)
I'm a lesbian and agender, which basically is me saying my gender changes for when it's funniest.
I use ALLLL the pronouns, even xenos and neos because I am badass and awesome. Literally anything goes.
I'm Scottish and Irish. Which is kinda cool, means I burn hella easy though which sucks ass.
I'm also autistic, I like to post about that.
I also also have depression and anxiety, I don't really care though because I'm balling 24/7 B)
Tumblr media
Interests & Likes
Obvious is obvious but I'm a massssive Homestuck. That is primarily what I post/reblog. This includes Hiveswap/Hauntswitch
I also enjoy Pokémon. A lot. Like... 2200 hours on Ultra Sun alone enjoy.
Youkai Watch is also a big fav of mine. In fact, Youkai Watch 3 is one of my favourite games of all time!
I absolutely ADORE A Hat in Time! It is THE game for me. It means the world and everything to me.
Alongside AHIT, Undertale and Deltarune are some of my favs ever! (I don't cry everytime I replay UT what do you mean?)
In general, I'm a total loser for vidya. I can do a quick rundown of the gaems I like but probably won't be reblogging often
Crash Bandicoot
Kleptocats
Gmod
Sonic
Papa's -rias
FNAF
Animal Crossing
Half Life
Persona 5
I don't often watch many series or movies. But there's a special place in my heart for Invader Zim, The Owl House, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Eddsworld and My Little Pony. I'm also super excited for the new Scott Pilgrim show :D
It's strange to say but I have a keen interest in reality shows. This means Gogglebox, Come Dine with Me, Four in a Bed, Kitchen Nightmares (both versions) and Impractical Jokers. Only the lord knows why. I think it's the autism. It's probably the autism.
I'm a fan of Pretty Cure aswell! Those girls are so beegitful <3 in those dresses... Yes I found out about it through Glitter Force but that doesn't change anything. Another anime I also love is Pop Team Epic that show irreversibly changed my sense in humour.
I also adore!!! Vocaloid it literally makes up 50% of my music taste. I black out and wake up with 20 new pieces of miku merch lmao
Tumblr media
Music
I have a lot of different music interests! But my all time favourite band ever is Qbomb! I adoreeeee them to infinity. I literally don't know what my favourite Qbomb song is because they're all so good.
But! Qbomb doesn't have my fav song, that honour goes to Stacked Like Pancakes and their song SFDD. It's a really high energy ska song that I recommend highly. (You won't regret listening to it!)
Instead of just listing my spotify stats here, I'm gonna just get some images of those funky websites instead :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously this isn't completely accurate since this is from my entireeee spotify history. But it's basically all there!

Loving A World
I can't speak for Deltarune because the game isn't completed yet, but I think Undertale is a game about Loving A Story. And the game is written with the assumption it will be loved, to the point of wanting to find every secret.
What do I mean by that?
Undertale is a game that can take multiple routes, but one of the most well known routes is one where the player, through determination, travels across the Underground, making new friends, and eventunally finds the tools to reach a happy ending for all, by freeing the monsters. The point of this story is that thanks to all our hardwork and perseverance, we manage to improve things for everyone.
It is also just a very fun world, full of complex and solid characters, and filled with secrets, some you may find by sheer luck. I believe this is the element that's made so many people be involved with the story, willing to keep going even when you seem powerless (for example: during Flowey's neutral ending fight).
Let's talk about some of the ways in which Undertale uses its mechanics to push your curiosity, and how the way it reacts enhances your experience and rewards you for your choices (even the "bad" ones).
One thing that stands out to me about Undertale is that every neutral route gives you a sense that things could be different. The biggest exponent (or at least the one most players have seen at some point) is the ending phonecall during the neutral route in which no EXP has been gained, and the conversation with Flowey afterwards.
In the phonecall. you learn that the Underground misses its king, that the monsters miss you (i won't get into the details of who "you" represents), and Alphys has things that never got resolved. You get the sense that the game has more to offer and the world is bigger than what you saw. Right after that, Flowey makes this sentiment even more explicit
You made all these great friends… But now, you'll probably never see them again. Not to mention how much they've been set back by you. Hurts, doesn't it? If you had just gone without caring about anyone... You wouldn't have to feel bad now.
If we didn't care about the story, then there would be no reason for us to try to look deeper into it, and follow its use of the reset and loading mechanics. We could feel disappointed by the ending, but resgined. Except things aren't over.
Say. What if I told you… I knew some way to get you a better ending?
And this is what prompts you to reload your save, and look for what you missed. The neutral routes repeatedly do this as well. You are told of friendships you couldn't make because "she says she won't talk to a murderer" (Papyrus about Undyne, if talked to in front of Undyne's house if EXP has been gained), or of people you have killed and have left a mark around them (the members of the Canine Unit missing each other when entering Grillby's. The point is, there is always some version of the story that you cannot know of, because you have made specific choices.
The game tries to lead us to a true pacifist ending, which will give people happiness. And you've got that!
But what if you wanted to know more? What if you wished to explore grief and loss?
The game has you covered. There are multiple neutral endings, that all depend on which bosses and common encounters you have spared or killed. Undertale lends itself to be replayed multiple times, because the curiosity that the players feel for the world can lead them to make different choices. And it's because, for one reason or another, they care about the world.
It is thanks to the Pacifist route that we know that Undyne is a goofy person, or that she is very close to Asgore. It is thanks to the Merciless routes that we know that we know she is too determined to let death stop her. It is through them that we know that she will sacrifice herself for another monster. And that builds to her character even more. In a way, the game does reward you for your curiosity, by showing you that your actions do matter.
Merciless or neutral runs help us get answers to all the "what if" questons we may have, and our drive to engage with a story we care about is what pushes us to find them, and not only that, but let us Be affected and involved with it. Not everyone needs to experience them to truly enjoy Undertale, but they do add to the characters, the world they live in, and it can show different values, that, at least in my opinion, are worth looking into as well.
In conclussion, I believe that Undertale is a game with a story that's made for you to get attached too and it promotes its save and reload mechanics to enhance the choices you can make. It also creates a sense of agency and rewards the player with different information and character themes. I think that, whether you wish to acknowledge this actions as Undertale being written with awareness of its medium (as in, the game talking to the player), or prefer to center on the story itself, the game works well because the story is flexible and engaging. And the best part in my opnion will always be that you're free to play and create as you wish.

Make me choose between two things:
Ok if you insist. 😈
Only one of these can exist, which do you choose? Good Omens season 2 or Baldur's Gate 3?
-anntickwittee
What an absolutely vile question (affectionate).
To be honest? I know I'm currently obsessed with BG3 so I'm probably biased, but I think I'd rather keep BG3 over GO2. AND I HATE SAYING THAT!!!
My reason being: We were all super content with GO S1. It followed the book pretty closely and added elements that I think made it even more enjoyable than the book (In my opinion! I know it's beloved in its book form and I love it too, I just love how the show expanded on things). I truly didn't know what to expect from S2 because S1 was so well self contained and that's all fans thought we were ever going to get. I am THRILLED we got an S2. It's gorgeous and perfect and I'm beyond excited for S3 (which starts filming in January!!!!)
With BG3, it's really gotten me out of my comfort zone in terms of gaming and storytelling. In the past, I steered clear of big open world games because I was way too overwhelmed and prefer straightforward paths in games like Pokemon and Deltarune (I know there are multiple endings and ways to play, but for the most part there's an order in which to do things). With BG3, there are truly so many options that each gaming experience can feel brand new and pan out incredibly differently from a previous game. I love that there's replayability and that I'll be able to keep replaying it for years to come.
It's also helped push me in terms of playing and understanding dnd. I've been playing for a little over a year now and watching actual plays for longer, but I understand even more now having played this game. There's always a little feeling of excitement when the DM or people I'm watching play mention something that I learned because I've played BG3.
Additionally, something I've been struggling with recently is feeling motivated to be creative. I love my job and the people I work with, but there can be a monotony that creeps in since I work from home and have a fairly regimented schedule (animation production is NO JOKE! And it RULES!). Baldur's Gate has consistently inspired me to create (mainly write, which is what I've always wanted to do) and I'm so grateful for that after feeling lost for a long time.
Granted, I'm still feeling lost and unsure of my abilities, but getting to practice storytelling with characters I love and settings and elements I find interesting is really amazing. Yes, Good Omens 2 could have inspired something like this in me, but for whatever reason, it was BG3 that did. I read (and continue to read) a good amount of GO fics, but I was never inspired enough to create my own (though it DID inspire me to make some fun gifsets which I loved making). With BG3, not only have other fics inspired me, but there are moments between cutscenes and story beats that I've wanted to write and expand on since the game is so huge and the writers and developers could only expand on so much themselves. Ultimately, I want to be able to create those fantastical worlds and lovable characters and I'm really thankful BG3 reminded me of that.
Do I have any big ideas currently? No. But the intent is there and that's huge! So I'll keep persisting :)
POINT IS: I love both pieces of media and they're both deeply special to me, but since BG3 has helped reawaken a part of myself that's been snoozing for a long time, I'll pick that FOR NOW.

aight i figure i should toss in my own Deltarune theory instead of just responding to someone else's. so let's talk about Ralsei.
this turned out to be a long-ass post, so get comfy.
so many people suspect Ralsei will turn out to have been Evil All Along, no doubt helped by his similarities to Flowey and possible connection to this universe's Asriel. he knows quite a lot about the mechanics of the Deltarune game, including how those tie into the player's keyboard. he keeps trying to ensure we follow a specific path through the Dark Worlds. he (previously) insisted on Kris being the absolute leader and submitting to them no matter what. and he clearly knows far more about the history of Dark Worlds, the nature of Dark Fountains, and the Light World itself than any other Darkner, and for some reason is very reluctant to tell us anything we don't absolutely need to know.
on one hand, i agree with the sentiment that Ralsei is hiding something Big. we haven't encountered any other "pure" Darkner (one born from the Grand Fountain), and he appears to have been alone for quite some time. he practically jumped at the chance to tell us the prophecy of the Three Heroes, but only told us about the Roaring out of desperation, and has yet to explain who or what the Titans or Angel's Heaven are.
but on the other... i can't agree that Ralsei's evil. for one, he definitely does NOT want to cause the Roaring, and i'm not budging on this. he wouldn't be having us seal the fountains if he wanted that. for two, while he's definitely a bit manipulative, the only goal i can glean from his more questionable behaviors is to keep us on track to seal the Fountains, without asking too many questions or becoming too violent. for three, having preconceived notions about how things should go isn't evil. when you spend so long waiting for something to happen, eventually you're going to build up an idea of what's going to happen, and it will inevitably happen differently than you're expecting. and it appears Ralsei has been waiting for this for a long time.
the previous paragraph assumes that Ralsei is telling the truth about the legend, the Roaring, and everything associated with it. if he's lying, that throws literally everything we've learned about Dark Worlds into question, and we end up with a scenario where literally anything is possible. if that's the case, i can't reasonably speculate on it because there'd be nothing to base my speculations on. so i'm going to continue assuming he's telling the truth.
what do i think is going on, you ask?
simple. Ralsei is trying to protect Kris and Susie to the furthest of his ability.
we know that Ralsei knew who Kris and Susie were before they arrived. and not only does he know the exact layout of the Light World, he understands its systems and culture well enough to know and agree that Kris and Susie should be doing their homework instead of slacking off in the Dark World. that tells me he's been watching the Light World for a long time, and probably knows things about Hometown that even Kris doesn't. he also knew exactly where the Cyber World was and how to get there, despite the library not being physically connected to the school. (how he got there isn't important - yet.)
with this level of insight into the Light World, i think it's reasonable to assume that Ralsei knows exactly who the Roaring Knight is.
remember that the Knight MUST be a Lightner, as Darkners are incapable of opening Fountains themselves. i'd have to replay Deltarune to be certain, but i don't think Ralsei ever brings up the Knight once. one would think that if he didn't know what was going on, he'd at least ask some questions about the Knight's identity. him saying nothing about it tells me that he knows much more than he's willing to let on.
i think Ralsei knowing who the Knight is would explain why he doesn't want to tell Kris and Susie more than they need to know. for all of his knowledge and apparent power, he cannot control what they do in the Light World. and if they were to know who the Knight is, there's a possibility that they would attempt to confront the Knight in the Light World, where they don't have any special powers or weapons. while the jury is still out as to whether or not the Knight is just as powerful in the Light World, they are clearly very good at manipulating Darkners, and it's likely they're good at manipulating Lightners too. and whatever they're trying to accomplish by opening Fountains, they are either 1) willing to risk destroying the world as we know it, 2) actively trying to destroy the world, or 3) unaware of the risks and maybe a bit insane. they are a dangerous person, and i understand why Ralsei would want us to avoid confronting them directly, at least without being as prepared as possible.
and since the Knight is so dangerous, i believe Ralsei is also trying to keep the Knight from figuring out who Kris and Susie are, or at least what they're doing. if the Knight knew who was going behind their back and sealing the Fountains, they'd probably go after the culprits in the Light World, and who knows what they'd be willing to do to achieve their goal. once again, Ralsei can't protect Kris and Susie outside of the Dark World, not directly. the best he can do is make sure they don't start the fight themselves.
come to think of it, that may be part of why Ralsei's obsessed with keeping Kris and Susie on track. the less time they spend in the Dark Worlds the Knight creates, the less time the Knight has to figure out who's missing from the Light World. perhaps the roles that Ralsei expects the party to have also play into this somehow? i'm not really sure on that one.
either way, i really don't think Ralsei's evil. while there are certainly better ways he could be handling the situation, at the end of the day, he just doesn't want Kris and Susie to get hurt. whether that's because he cares about them or solely because he needs them to stop the Roaring, it's too early to tell. all i'm saying is that i get why someone who knows THAT much about what's going on might want to keep some things a secret.
yes, i know i didn't talk about Ralsei not knowing exactly who he is, or why he talks about his identity as some sort of role he needs to fill, but that's beyond the scope of this theory. so is the fact that the prophecy was "foretold by time and space" and the possibility of connections to Gaster that raises. that's some weird shit, for sure, but i don't think it's relevant to deciding if he's evil or not.

hhhhh gamers i replayed deltarune ch2 for the first time in a while and . HHHHHHHHHH. i beat spamton neo not long ago and im still just . recovering from it. this fucked up crumple paper bag of a man makes me INSANE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the scene right when hes about to fight you and it dawns on him that hes still not free like he hoped . OUHGHHH. theres so much anger. so much desperation. the instantly lashing out , immidieatly grabbing the smallest thread of a solution . he has no reason to believe that getting kris' soul will get him the result he wants. but the neo suit has been the ONE thing he thought would help him become powerful, become free, whatever that might actually mean to him. he chased this shit for years. he didnt think he would ever actually get this far. but then he does. and it doesnt work. so he tries to grasp at the first thing he can think of. a goal to chase. hes constantly a mess in his dialogue, hes got multiple motivations (as much as he might genuinely want/need people in his life again, he still also wants to make a quick buck while he can. try to very unsubtley twist the situation to his favor) and so then ESPECIALLY while hes full of so many conflicting feelings of helplessness. anger. fear. he NEEDS to have something to try to focus on.
he wants to think he can still maintain control over something. over his situation. over the mess hes gotten into. he NEEDS to believe he can still have control over it all. even if that directly contradicts the very thing hes fighting for.
and even still . with just how much fucking,,,, emotions are packed into this character, even this single moment,,
hes still just . this tiny fucked up beast of man. this ugly mess of a creature. this 2 inch tall bastard with iconic lines like "hey every !!" and "click here for hot singles in my "
hes the worst i love him hes a hopeless mess and i hope he explodes 🥺

I’m on spring break so I will totally get to writing for the fun squad soon! I’ve also just been wanting to replay chapter two- since it’s the most recent I just want to get to know the characters a bit more through it!
Idk if any of you have read x reader stuff for deltarune, but if you have can we TALK about the delta-simps fanfic?? It’s literally so cute!
The characters are honestly well written, the narrative is really good even when it switches povs! I think it’s such a solid piece of work despite not getting that far into the game!
I think it’s adorable! And a shame it was left on its own- but I honestly cannot judge hehe.

12. Have you any old muses that you’d love to bring back? (Hi!)
Munday Meme - Accepting
Hi hi!!! Thank you for sending this!!! I have a lot I'd love to bring back but I probably never will due to being so outta touch with the series. But I'll mention a few muses I love dearly and who most likely won't come back. This is also going to be super long I'm sorry I've wrote for so long I have so many muses I hold dear to me that I'd like to write again.
Julian from The Arcana. He was someone I liked but I just fell outta the series far to quickly to the point I'm very out of tune with the game. I don't wish to replay it anytime soon considering all the massive new changes nor complete routes I never finished to obtain crumbs about him that I hadn't learnt yet. I love him but like I said, I don't think I'll bring him back.
Tumblr media
My Undertale era. God the icons look awful thanks to tumblrs image system so please look at them by clicking on them! But yeah. If you ever where apart of the Undertale RPC back when it first kicked of I was there about a month after the game was released. Muffet was my first character, then I had underswap sans. Geno!Sans was the big one though. He was a fave of mine and I did come back with deltarune briefly but left within a month as I wasn't prepared to deal with essentially the immaturity of the fandom again. I would like to write Muffet and Geno again one day but if I did I'd probably be super selective with them both.
Then we have Astro. He was originally an Underswap Gaster!Sans but then became Outertale based before I removed him completed from the fandom. He moved on to being a more independent OC for a little bit but I stopped writing him. He did become a Space God Deity but I never really did much for him and eventually benched him. I would like to write him again in the future but he will have a complete overhaul with background information as well as face claims as he is no longer skeleton based. I do have have undertale muses I wrote which was Fresh!Chara and an Aftertale Gaster!Sans who is essentially an OC and I might flesh him out one day if I can expand on him more..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You may have seen me mention my OC Rohan before that I hopefully one day will be able to bring back to tumblr. Originally, he was an RK900 from Detroit: Become Human. I wanted a unique name for him, not one of the fanon names everyone was using when writing an an RK900. But I eventually left the RPC and started writing him on Discord privately for a good year or two with people I was close too at the time. I don't write him as often now but he has expanded into being his own creation now. I'd still write him with a DBH verse but I also have some other fandom verses fleshed out for him such as Genshin and a HSR that's I'm still trying to figure out. But yea! He is someone I definitely would like to bring back one day.
Tumblr media
And I will stop there as this got away from me! I have a few more muses for certain that I would definitely like to write again in the future but I'l be here all day if I had to mention them all!

so i replayed both chs of deltarune recently, and i can’t stop thinking about the end of ch1 where you walk around the town and talk to everyone, because talking to asriel’s old classmates reveals so much about his character in this universe that we just don’t know
and i couldn’t help thinking about how interesting it is that he’s the one that “got out” of their hometown, you know? he’s the one that “made it” or whatever, he went to school, he’s doing something with his life. when you talk to catty and bratty, they remember him as this cool, cute guy - the kind of dude everyone in a small town has a crush on. burgerpants remembers him as the kind of guy everyone wants to be friends with. his side of his and kris’ bedroom is littered with awards and trophies. it’s obvious that asriel was super popular during high school, good at everything, well liked... the kind of person that, when you live in a small town, you look at and say, “yeah, if any of us are gonna make something of themselves, it’s that guy.”
we know the events of undertale are separate from those of deltarune, but still sort of ... adjacently related, so any characterization of asgore and toriel “investing” more into asriel than into kris would require some kind of unknown, but adjacently related impetus. and we also know that certain “key aspects” of the original story are kinda reversed in DR compared to how they played out in UT, like catty and bratty absolutely hating each other and never being as tight as they were in UT. so what if chara’s “buttercup incident” was one such key event? what if, instead of kris eating the buttercups, it was asriel? this old theory points out that buttercups, when eaten, are poisonous to livestock. the implication is that, while they’re technically monsters, asgore gets very sick from eating them. and if you also look around a map of Hometown, there isn’t a yellow flower to be seen (with the exception of a single one in asgore’s bedroom implied to be from toriel’s bouquet). i think it’s possible asriel ingested the flowers as a child. i’m not yet up for speculating on *why* - whether it was a dare, or put in his food, or just typical “kids doing dumb shit for fun” situation - but i think toriel and asgore almost lost him. and as a result, especially in tori’s case, asriel was given every opportunity, every “win” - he was pushed *hard*. there’s no real indication for why tori and asgore got divorced in DR, since the defining moment in UT was that asgore declared war on humans after chara and asriel died.
so what would the impetus be in DR? divorce rates are statistically higher for people dealing with an ill child, and it could be that tori and asgore - implied to be type A and type B in the DR universe, respectively - had wildly different reactions to asriel’s recovery and, subsequently, how he should be raised after the fact. they went through something traumatic, and it changed them, their relationship with their child, and their relationship with each other. it’s also implied that the family is pretty religious, too, in a way that mirrors catholicism - in which divorce is typically frowned upon. i think asriel grew up shouldering this pretty heavy pressure (and maybe even guilt?) to be the best he possibly could be, having been given a “second chance”, even though him living drove his parents apart (not that they wouldn’t have for some other reason, but a lot of children of divorce internalize in this way and become overachievers). he had his friends, he snuck around, he did normal teenager bullshit ... but at the end of the day he busted ass to excel in everything to “get out”, perhaps because he felt he had something to prove by being given a second chance at life. or, perhaps, to escape the unbearable pressure of being a big fish in a small pond.

I was tagged by @lickingthywounds, thank you so much! :D
Favorite Video Game? For years it has been Gray Matter, so that's my answer - I want to replay it soon to see if that's changed.
Favorite Video Game Character? Sam Everett from Gray Matter, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Detective Gumshoe from Ace Attorney, any character voiced by Jarosław Boberek.
Favorite Movie or TV Series? Chicago.
Favorite Movie or TV Series character? I don't think I have one.
Hobbies: Writing, video games, D&D, translation.
Obsessions: D&D, Dimension 20, Ace Attorney, To The Moon + sequels, Drag Race. Not current, but I think my most niche obsession was The Sims 2 lore and corruption.
Favorite genre/type of background music for whump daydreams? When I write whump it really depends, sometimes it's video game music, sometimes I just listen to something weird on loop and slowly lose my mind (e.g. the Nature Tapes album by Lemon Demon, NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A from Deltarune).
What is your favorite whump trope? Captivity as a general one, mouth stitched shut as a more specific one!
What is your favorite whump pairing? Berkeley and @brutal-nemesis's Castys :)
What was (one of) the first time you experienced whumperflies? My memory sucks but it could be the ending of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego: Treasures of Knowledge, where they actually catch and handcuff Carmen! She immediately escapes though, which might have been my first whump disappointment.
My question: What's your favorite whump scene from a piece of media? For me it's the kidnapping scene from Moebius: Empire Rising, a pretty niche and pretty mediocre game that's my absolute guilty pleasure. It has drugging, a "wrong place at a wrong time" kind of kidnapping, a character who can only helplessly watch the kidnapping happen, all in all good stuff.
tagging @null-whump @lonesome--hunter @i-can-even-burn-salad @whumperofworlds @worldofwhumpcraft and anyone else who wants to do this!

2024 Reading Goals & Plans
Tumblr media
Welp, I'm late! My ADHD acting up as usual, it seems.
Anyway, I'll be talking about my 2024 plans!
Aaalrighty, the year has started, so let's get right into it!
So basically, I'm doing the 52-a-year challenge (aka, read one VN a week) for all of my reading media (VNs, books, and manga).
I thought about including anime and cinema in general, but it'd be way too much.
Visual Novels
Tumblr media
Phew... That's a lot!
I was already reading Umineko back in 2023, but I want to finish it all by the first week of February. Oh, and Little One is one I need to finish as well; it's more of a stats sim, so I'll have to use my brain orz
They are in weekly order, so with exception of Umineko and The Divine Speaker, just think of me reading through them weekly!
Manga
Tumblr media
In theory, I'd have read Goodnight Punpun (Vol.1) by now but I haven't been so lucky! I'll try to read through half of it today and the other half tomorrow, but oh well.
Books

Okay, I got lazy and it shows. This grid is a bit different: I'm reading TWO books weekly. One is shorter (less than 300 pages) and the other is a bit longer, but not too long (around 300~400 pages).
You might be asking: but why do they stop midway? Well... I forgot to take into account that I'm reading TWO chonkers this year: Kafka on the Shore and The Old Curiosity Shop. For those two, I'm diving them into weekly quarters. For the rest of the year, I'm reading medium-sized books.

The Two Losers of Hometown
Tumblr media
So, I replayed deltarune again, which isn't really anything new, I always replay it from time to time. But this time I kinda started thinking about two characters that I never really see much discussion about. Monster kid and Snowy. A large part could be well, they aren't really important to the story as of chapter 2. But I feel like there's a lot of potential with them.
Looking at their dialog, it really feels like they only talk to each other because they really don't have anyone else to talk to. I feel this way because in chapter one they're both only partners because Kris was late to class and Monster kid didn't have any other option, as monster kid mentions being Snowy’s partner to Kris like it's something they really didn’t want. But Snowy and Monster kid can be seen hanging out outside of school, so maybe it's not so bad for poor old MK.
There's a few lines that imply that monster kid and kris actually have history together, similar to how frisk and monster kid were "friends" in undertale. It's hard to tell how close they really were since there is barely any dialog that I'm aware of that hints to Kris's feelings about monster kid. There is a line in chapter 1, after a joke about the 3 armless students in class playing handball, Monster kid says that Susie sucks and Kris looks annoyed at Monster kid. Which probably doesn't help their already weak relationship. Monster kid seems to know something about Kris and the bunker because of what they say to Snowy when they're contemplating about going in, whether Kris told them something about it or it's just a general rumor that everyone knows is kind of hard to tell. And going back to what I said about the lack of dialog mentioning Monster kid, there actually isn't any dialog about monster kid in the game (that I'm aware of) aside from when they're directly being interacted with by Kris or Snowy. This is probably because it's hard to have a character talk about them without a name drop, and it would be really weird from someone like Noelle to refer to them as "monster kid".
Snowy is the character that's probably most up for interpretation since we know the least about him. And most about what we do know about him can be inferred from undertale. His real name is Snowdrake but he got the nickname Snowy from his mom, He likes making jokes, his moms dead. And this is a really huge one, that I didn't even know before checking the wiki, IN UNDERTALE HE RAN AWAY FROM HOME BECAUSE OF HIS DAD?
Tumblr media
It's not clear what Snowy means by his dad being "cold" but to avoid discussing any unsavory topics, I'll leave it at that his home situation was bad enough for him to decide to run away. It's pretty easy to infer that Snowy uses humor to deal with all of the stuff going on in his life just because of the fact that his life wasn't all that great in deltarune/undertale with his mom being dead. But him trying to play off him running away from home, by cracking a pun about it practically confirms it. Snowy and his dad's relationship seems to be healthier in deltarune since Snowy hasn't decides to run away from home, but his dad still seems to be stern as snowy mentions that his dad "wouldn't let him see the end of it" if he got caught skipping class like kris in chapter one. It's actually pretty sad that Snowy doesn't really seem to have that many friends outside of monster kid since it seems that his coping mechanism of always making jokes as well him being quick to anger seems to be why people avoid him.
I guess that's all I really gotta say right now, these dorks have a surprising amount of depth to them despite not having major roles in both of the games they're in. I just hope they get used some day; But that's probably wishful thinking. I only say that because right now they both give off strong background character energy. Mostly because of Snowy being a recycled enemy from undertale and monster kid not even having an official "name". Which sucks because I feel like you could write a really cool story with these two.

P5T Story Finale - Part 1
I'm just starting off with the assumption that this will have to be 2 parts, to fit all the pictures I took. XD
So, where we left off, I was doing pretty good.
Tumblr media
We'd beaten Metal Marie, and Lavenza had some challenges for us to unlock our final skills. I was kind of hyped, because honestly, it seemed like a good opportunity to get everyone's ultimate personas back. And then Erina could just have whatever.
It was not second awakenings, despite the way they talked about it sounding very second-awakening-ish. Instead, we get a maximum power skill for each Thief's specific element. And, sorry everyone, but Joker's is the coolest.
Tumblr media
I also think that it's worth mentioning that when you die, Lavenza quotes Paradise Lost at you.
Tumblr media
She also quotes it at the very start of the game, so she's very well-read. Probably Margaret and Theodore's influence; I can't see Elizabeth sitting through a book like that. XDDD
Anyway, Lavenza's challenges were some very elaborate puzzle levels and endurance missions with gimmicks, but nothing that was completely unreasonable. The one where you had to kill everything in one turn by using one-mores and platforms to get Joker to the top of the level to trigger the widest-possible AOA range was awesome. I felt smart when I finished them, which was the important part.
And my reward, other than skills, was......
Tumblr media
You have to be level 96 to fuse Satanael, tho, so like... holy fuck, Atlus. Booooooo. And he's got like seven components, which I'm pretty sure he did in P5, but you couldn't fuse him til NG+, so you at least would have had most of them by then. This is just taunting me. Plus, it's not nearly as easy to get money in this. You have to replay missions, and later missions give more money but also take longer, so it seems like it'll be a little tedious to complete the compendium.
ANYWAY.
Metal Yoshiki and Metal Shadow Toshiro went down next, and I'm pretty sure it confirmed that it wasn't actually Toshiro's shadow, just a piece of Salmael masquerading as it. I wasn't... super impressed with these fights? They were basically the same as the first go round, just with more health, more damage, and slightly different arenas. Metal Shadow Toshiro skipped his first round and went right to Giant Scary Eri, so... Yeah. They were fine, I guess.
I did notice something a little funny, though. The final Kingdom is "The Path to God" in the replay menu, and there are six missions (not counting the bosses), each with a letter appended to them.
Tumblr media
All six in order spells "A S Y L U M".
If Salmael rules this Kingdom, is he the crazy one, then? :P
So, we are off to the final boss. My goblin kids are ready to beat the shit out of their third god in like... four months? Wow.
Tumblr media
Slap him so hard he drops his head, Futaba!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I finally realized what this thing's appearance reminds me of. Some weird fusion of Yald, and the Queen from Deltarune.
He has the SMUGGEST VOICE of any god so far and it just makes me want to hit him harder. Maybe I should have done some grinding for Satanael after all.
He just wants to ~save humanity~, and I'd just like to mention how much I love my wife.
Tumblr media
Salmael is totally cool with our disagreement, obviously.
Tumblr media
Us? All by ourselves? You think so highly of us~
Salmael says that his actions are the consensus of humanity, so we should just give in. The game gives you an option here between "Our wills are firm" and "Send us back to the real world." Which, if you remember, he offered to send us all home without our powers or memories, so... put a pin in that. We'll be back. In THIS timeline, we tell God to fuck off, as is our wont.
Tumblr media
I feel justified in writing Ryuji calling Yaldabaoth "Yald" in an actual fic, now. XD
Seriously, Atlus, one line of dialogue. "We've already beat up a 'god' who thought he knew what was best for us." Call Maruki on his BS.
Anyway, as always, these gods who want peace and happiness and order are willing to murder us. Ooohhhh nooo, I don't waaaaant to use force, you just leave me no chooooooiiiiiice~ Blarg. XD
Tumblr media
The battlefield is wild, though. I'm always down for a good giant clock.
Tumblr media
The five platforms rotate either forward or back based on a skill that warns you in advance. Platforms that go past the end positions sink into the green, and more arise on the other side to replace them.
So, we wallop the shit out of god while avoiding being tossed into a green abyss. I only lost Toshiro during this stage of the fight, so I still had my three primary fighters and three baton passes.
Salmael, upon being knocked down in round 1, throws a temper tantrum, and... well, I guess calling it "going one-winged-angel" isn't appropriate here. He's still got all his wings, just gets more raggedy and dirty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the important part is that he loses the mask and his face is FUCKED UP
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He gets two new attacks for this round. The first one is a very Dark Hour-esque clock which leaves numbers on some of the platforms. That's how many people need to be standing on that particular platform to avoid triggering an attack that paralyzes you on your next turn.
Tumblr media
Overall, challenging! Especially because the numbers don't rotate with the platforms, so if he does both skills at the same time, you've gotta make sure you're not gonna rotate away from the number you need. (Learned that the hard way.)
The second one is some kind of giant antenna that spawns in the middle of the arena, and you have like... three turns to AOA it before he does some horrible targeted missile barrage. I had the worst time with that. That's how I lost all three of my remaining squad in one turn, because I couldn't get the downed enemy to line up right to allow the AOA.
So we're down Ann, Morgana, and Akira. Welcome to the fight, Haru, Yusuke, and Ryuji!
Salmael's second form has about twice as much health as his first form, which can be mitigated by AOA-ing the antenna, because Futaba can then turn the missiles on him. I only managed that once. X'D But the game REALLY smacked me when it did the clock attack and the arena rotation on the same turn, and the clock was four platforms, each with a 1 on it. I didn't have Toshiro anymore. I couldn't put one person on each platform. So everyone got paralyzed, and the rotation was poised to dump both Haru and Yusuke into the abyss with no way to move them.
It was going to be up to Ryuji to win this fight alone.
...or, it would have been, but as I watched Yusuke sink into the green depths, I realized that... the platform just popped back up on the other side. Yusuke was fine. Didn't even do any damage. X'D I spent the whole fight thinking that if I got sucked down with a platform, that person would just die. But no.
In the end, Haru dealt the final blow, and Salmael took that really well. He just straight up starts taking a swing at us and throwing gears. So I guess we DID slap him so hard he dropped his head!
Tumblr media
My baby boy gets to say more than one line of dialogue in this game!
Tumblr media
This is the smile of a savior, everyone.
Tumblr media
Honestly this last AOA cutscene is wild. I like it better than Scramble's, I think? I need to watch it again, but it's really well done. Halfway through, Erina gets squashed by a whole ton of gears and ends up... I'm assuming drifting in the Sea of Souls, and Toshiro calls her back so she can take her Ernesto form and blast the hell out of Salmael. And then she turns back into Erina and she and Akira slam a flag through Salmael's face. :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, yeah. Same as every other monster.
Salmael takes defeat well, of course. By exploding.
Tumblr media
And Toshiro catches a brief glimpse of the overwhelming existential dread that knowing about meta-space can cause: namely that humanity is constantly accidentally almost destroying itself.
Tumblr media
I like to think that he gets a phone call from the Shadow Ops at some point. XDDDD
Anyway, with Salmael dead, his primary Kingdom is collapsing, so it's time to get the hell out of here. And with this, I have hit the image limit, so... Off we go. Part 2 is next!

Deltarune Chapter 2 Replay Review
In the past I've talked about Deltarune Chapter 2 in little pieces, but never gave a full in-depth review on it. After recently revisiting the chapter for the first time in months--or even years--I think it's time I actually put out a more comprehensive, thought-out post regarding my feelings on the chapter as a whole.
If you know me at all, you'll be aware that I greatly prefer Chapter 1 over Chapter 2. I always praise Chapter 1 whenever I can and sometimes might bash Chapter 2 as being the lesser of the two. And today we will see if my opinion on it has improved, stayed the same, or gotten worse.
I'll be going over the bad things first to get the negativity out of the way, move on to the good stuff, and finally end with the points I don't have strong opinions on. Please keep in mind that this is all my own opinion, and you are free to have a different one. Without further ado, here we go!
Part 1: The Bad
Queen. I've admittedly never been a major fan of Queen and never understood the hype around her. And unfortunately, a couple of the problems I always had with her have only become more accentuated and pronounced in my recent playthrough. I still find her voice annoying as always, arguably even more so. And she still does appear a bit too often for my taste. However, these are the only major issues I have with Queen as a character. I find nothing else about her inherently negative or frustrating, and I'll get into the good aspects of Queen later.
Noelle. This is going to make some of you upset I'm sure, but I still don't really like Noelle. I never did, and it's unlikely I ever will. She shares the same issue Queen does: she appears too often in the chapter. I understand that as more chapters are released, more characters will be introduced and take center stage, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, Noelle being one of those characters was, and still is, not my cup of tea. There are some things I do like about Noelle too, and I'll also get into that later.
The general tone of the chapter. One thing I really liked in Chapter 1 was how it felt a lot more serious in its tone. Yes, there were silly moments--need I bring up Lancer?--but there was always this sense of unease I felt. Of something threatening awaiting me. Chapter 1 knew what it wanted to accomplish in its tone from the get-go and did an excellent job at building suspense little by little. But with Chapter 2, I never really felt that. Everything felt silly all the way through, and the actual villain wasn't threatening until the very end. That moment when Queen controlled Berdly came out of nowhere and nothing built up to her battle. Everything just felt messier, like the chapter itself didn't know what it was doing. Yes, there was a plot, but the tone was having an identity crisis.
Part 2: The Good
Queen, again. There are some aspects I do like about Queen. As messy as it felt, her controlling Berdly was a decent surprise and had me thinking things were finally going to get intense. I also like Queen's bond with Noelle and how she genuinely wants to protect her, even if Noelle doesn't see it that way. It gives Queen some depth, and that's always nice to see.
Noelle, again. There are also a few things I like about Noelle. I think her overall personality is pretty good, and her background and history with other characters is very intriguing to me. I also appreciate how she befriends Susie by the end. It's always nice seeing Susie connect with more people.
Berdly. In the past I've mentioned how I always appreciated Berdly for who he was as a character, but never paid much mind to him. But after playing Chapter 2 for the first time in forever, I am pleased to announce that I like him a lot more now! Berdly was a major saving grace in the chapter for me. Berdly felt a lot like the Lancer of Chapter 2 in terms of comedy and general charm, and I found myself laughing at his lines quite a lot. His personality, while definitely needing a bit of personal improvement, is very unique and helps create some hilarious scenes. His design is very nice too, and I think he's a great addition to the game and its continual story.
Spamton. For a long time, I felt the same opinion with Spamton as I did with some other characters: too many people like him, therefore he must be overrated. As time went on, my opinion on Spamton slowly started to change and improve. And after my playthrough, I absolutely understand the hype. Spamton is honestly one of the most unique characters Toby Fox has ever created. Everything about him is great, from both his regular and NEO designs to his voice/dialogue to his backstory and everything in between. You genuinely feel bad for him, but know he needs to be stopped. Everything just fits so well, and I'm very glad I gave Spamton a second chance. I'll probably always like Jevil more--speaking of which, Jevil and Spamton lore must be given at somepoint--but I'll always have a soft spot for good ol' Spamton.
Chapter 1 characters. Even though Chapter 2 is primarily consisted of new characters, Darkners from Chapter 1 still show up at the beginning. I will admit I was very bummed out when both Lancer and Rouxls Kaard turned into stone, but I was able to find other things to enjoy about the chapter. As more chapters release, it'll be more difficult for Toby Fox to fit in characters from all chapters, though knowing him, I'm sure he'll be able to find a decent balance.
Part 3: The Indifferent
The theme. I've always been a fan of sci-fi and futuristic themes, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Chapter 2 was this exact theme. It felt strange, considering this genre/theme isn't something Toby Fox is known for, but I still think it was decent. However, I don't think it's great. I personally believe Chapter 1 had better world-building and overall design. This isn't to say Chapter 2 is worse by any means. It just doesn't resonate as strongly for me as Chapter 1's fantastical, card-centric theme did.
The length. I know this is going to sound odd, but I think Chapter 2 is a bit too long. I always thought longer was better, but after playing Chapter 2 again, I realize that's not always the case. Yes, we get more world-building and character dynamics, but the plot suffers. Take Chapter 1 as an example. Yes, it's shorter than Chapter 2, but character dynamics, world-building, and a cohesive, appropriately-lengthened plot were all given in the perfect amount. With Chapter 2, so much time is spent wandering around and solving puzzles while not moving anywhere plot-wise. I was initially going to put this point in the negatives section, but decided against it as there are some positives to a longer chapter. I just think it could have been handled better.
Queen, yet again. There is one aspect of Queen I wanted to put here, and that is her status as a villain. For a long time I always condemned Queen for being a weak villain, and I still feel that way to a degree. However, I do realize that villains can come in multiple forms. You have your seemingly purely villainous foe in the form of Spade King, though I personally believe he'll become an understandable villain by the end and get a redemption arc. But not all villains necessarily need to be one-dimensional. I think adding different types of villains is good, even if it's not something I personally enjoy. Because of this, I think Queen's status as a villain is all right. Not too great, and also not something I care for too much, but certainly has its own place and charm for some.
Well, that's it! These are all the major things I wanted to go over and cover in my review. I'm sure there are more minor things I could add, but I really wanted to focus on the stronger, more important things. I'm sure some of this is relatively controversial, but I'm used to that by now :P. Now, for the reveal on whether or not I like Chapter 2 more, less, or if my opinion has stayed the same. Drumroll, please...
YES! I do like Chapter 2 more than I used to. It's not by a major amount--I still think Chapter 1 is superior in multiple ways--but Chapter 2 is NOT as bad as I initially thought. Congratulations Chapter 2, you earn a medal :).

Silly question!
What are your five favourite videogames (in no particular order)?
Oh, oh! Reading this made me very happy. I get unreasonably excited about these things. (I may list more than five. Favourites are so hard to pick!)
First one that comes to mind is Omori, which I played in late 2021, about a year after it came out. I still have a deep scar in my psyche where that one went in.
... There are a lot of reasons why. The cast are pretty damn relatable (particularly Bagel and Sunny, on a few fronts) the story is a good one, well told– and the ending brought me (an apathetic godsdamn robot) about as close to tears as I can remember in the past few years. It's not a perfect game, but it's one that'll live with me for a long time.
Highly recommend if you have a lot of time to kill (and a lot of patience for filler, because the headspace segments are... well...)
Second, I think, is Celeste, which I played earlier? 2020? 2019?. At first, I picked up this game because "hey, this looks like a cool and challenging platforming game, and I want to try something different!"
All that suffering (Maddy Thorson is a sadist) made the story hit a lot harder. Celeste is... well, I won't gush about it too much, since I don't have much of substance to say, but every freaking part of it resonated with me. Shall we say. Just... just a little bit.
Ultrakill (I first played this in January, I think) also stands tall in my little brain. Now, this one is less about story and more about gameplay, but I honestly still love the game's narrative. It's... a pretty existential game, under all the coins, monsters and style tricks.
Also, the main antagonist is voiced by Gianni Matragrano, which pretty much seals the deal here.
Now I know the game isn't finished, and I'll be really happy to see where the rest of the game's development takes it, but as it stands, it's almost certainly already my favourite FPS. Like, ever. Not that I'm a connoisseur or anything, but what else has: the ability to punch your bullets, an nihilistic dating sim level, a stage dedicated entirely to fishing, and a secret Crash Bandicoot game mode?
Next up, and this comes out of nowhere compared to the first three: LittleBigPlanet 2, a PS3 puzzle-platformer that I remember very fondly. I thought I had to include a game from my (earlier) childhood, and it was either this or Minecraft.
I don't have too much to say about LBP 2, but my younger selves invested quite a lot of time into it, and looking back now, it has a lot of charm. I replayed it once recently, and... Well, still a really good game. Banger soundtrack, too, like all of the above.
I'm torn on what to include for number five, so I'll just go through both of my choices.
Terraria is definitely up here. I have sunk hours upon hours upon hours (about 1.5K total on my Steam install) into this game with a friend, and while it may not be perfect, it's a game that I've come to know and love a lot. It's one of those multiplayer games that always has something to do, but also always works as a backdrop to a conversation. Replayability 10/10 if you have friends.
Lastly, Hollow Knight. Like Celeste and Omori, this was an absolutely magical experience the first time around– the world is so vast and pretty, and its goofy art and charm is paired with a really memorable and melancholic setting. Also, I love bugs. Arthropods are awesome. I can't wait for Silksong to release in 1,000,000 years...
I'm sure there's some absolute classic I've forgotten about, but these are the first things that came to mind. I will also say that once it's finished, I wager Deltarune might well supplant one of these.
Long response, hah. Guess I can't stop myself.
thank you for asking lmao <3
P.S. I forgor, but the Binding of Isaac deserves an honourable mention here. I knew that game like the back of my arm... for a while, anyway.
P.P.S. Oh, and as for Deep Rock Galactic? Ask me again when I hit a thousand hours.
