Y’know the more I think about it, if EarthSpark has such an infatuation with the Decepticons, why aren’t they using Decepticons better suited to the story it’s trying to tell.
To me the Decepticons’ role really should’ve been a mix of IDW and RiD15. Most are left rudderless, cranky and confused, still willing to continue the cause and hurt people in an attempt to conquer. Some meanwhile are willing to work with humans in some capacity, good or bad.
Like where’s Sky-Byte, Knock Out, Clobber and Drift?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Never mind Drift’s Husbando thing with Ratchet, shouldn’t Megatron, as a GHOST operative, have his own little group of turn coat Decepticons who willingly followed him to the Autobots (and that it’s specifically ones who willingly became Autobots in past series helps this make sense). I get the intended idea was to make Megatron something of a fish out of water among the Autobots, but technically speaking, shouldn’t a few reasonable Decepticons have tagged along with him?
For that matter, where’s guys like Lugnut and Demolisher having an existential crisis over their leader abandoning them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s gotta be fertile ground for shenanigans and character work with Megatron and the Terrans. I know they kinda toyed with it with the ‘Waves, but boy did they not commit to the bit.
I can also buy that there’s a few Decepticons that are trying to make due on Earth and even work jobs with humans, we’ve seen that before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not to mention Decepticons working with the human criminal element (or at least morally dubious types).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course there’s my personal favorite, the Decepticons doing whatever it takes to get off Earth.
Tumblr media
Like really, the RiD15 Decepticons were able to build/repair ships using comparable human hardware, what in the ever loving skrud was preventing the ES Decepticons from doing the same. And don’t say GHOST, they’re too stupid to be a problem on their own without the Autobots. Maybe the Arachnamechs, but even so what’s stopping an opportunistic Decepticon from capturing and reprogramming them for their own ends?
The writers have such a fixation on the Decepticons, why NOT have this more nuanced take on them that ISN’T just purely making them into giant teddy bears. Fun aside, but they actually had those via Brickbear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey ES writers, I know some of you are reading this, on the off chance you guys continue to write for TF in the future, I triple dog dare you to make a Brickbear Decepticon canon in-show. I don’t care what you have to t’do, you want teddy bear Decepticons? Make this work. The blue print is right here. Basically make him or her the Peter Puppy (Earthworm Jim) of the Decepticons: cutesy in beast mode, a monstrous Hibernation Sandy Cheeks in robot mode. You’re welcome.
The point remains that modern writers NEED to stop sympathizing with the Decepticons and stop writing them as misunderstood Millennials and Zoomers who need a hug. I’M a bi-slagging-sexual Millennial from the 90’s and I’m among those telling you to knock it off, most of us want fun villains who revel in being murderous gearshafts, stealing Energon from refineries and drop kicking cassettes cats. Not everyone needs to reform like it’s Dragonball or Steven Universe, and I say that liking Vegeta and Beerus.

Why Miraculous LadyBug Is the Worst Thing To Happen To Magical Girl Genre in All Its History.
It would be easy to sit here and tell you all the logical reasons why Ladybug is a bad show. It has horrible pacing, it has low stakes, repetitive episodes, and a dialogue that is cringe worthy enough to get its own tiktok sound.
But saying that, would be beating a dead horse at this point. Everyone knows this show is a bunch of wasted potential, only made worse by a director who keeps thinking he created gold, when in fact he messed up in a lot of areas – particularly the fact that he’s a grown man who thinks he knows what little girls want.
I’m not here for that.
Particularly, because I can be quite forgiving to shows like this. I mean, they’re kids' shows! Meant for little girls, and I haven’t been one for a few years now. But I still enjoy them.
Why? Well, cause I’m a massive fan of Magical Girl animes. I love the glitter, the sparkles, the silly adventures with friends, and the transformation sequences! Even with all its flaws, I really like them. So, stories or shows that borrow from them, get a pass in all these things.
I mean, I have fun re-watching WINX Club, I love Star Vs The Forces of Evil despite its flaws. Steven Universe holds a deep place in my heart and She-Ra is…She-Ra is in its very own league of how amazing it is.
So, no. Be it a very dumb show or a very smart one, I can have fun. It’s very rare when a show with, you know, glitter, girly stuff and animals CAN’T hold my attention.
But, well, MLB failed at that.
It’s just, not a good show.
I mean, it could be. But the age demographic would need to drop several, several age groups just to be barely watchable – and even then, I seriously doubt that it would be good for young girls to watch it. The lessons it teaches are concerning, to say the least.
And at this point, you may be thinking,
"Why do you care so much about this show? It’s dumb and you’ve acknowledged it treats its demographic as toddlers. Why do you care so much?"
Well, because I've been here... for a very, very long time.
Listen, I started watching Miraculous Ladybug, back when I was in high school. Maybe a bit old, but, hey, a lot of unique cartoons came out around that time. (Star Vs, Steven Universe, etc). So, I was hopeful. Really hopeful.
Mainly, because I was here before it EVEN premiered. I remember it. The original PV was 2D animated and it had this vague Princess Tutu vibes that JUST I couldn’t resist. It was clear as day that it borrowed a lot of its inspiration from magical girls from the 90's, probably even 80's.
The premise looked similar enough to Kaito Jeanne, and Kaito St. Tail for me to draw those conclusions.
It had a dynamic very similar to Princess Tutu and seemed like a mix of silly and dark like that one was.
To be honest, I could even see hints of Sugar Sugar Rune with Pierre and Felix.
Not to mention, the animation was beautiful.
I will never, never forget that scene with Chat looking at Ladybug starry-eyed under the Paris Moonlight. That was so beautiful, a genuine touch of romance that rang so similar to the Magical Girl animes I grew up with.
I was thrilled, I was excited. I wanted this show to succeed, before even the premier had dropped.
Tumblr media
This is all to say -
I never came to this show with the intention for it to fail.
And I didn’t expect nor want it to be ground-breaking or a giant of the genre. I just hoped I could have a fun time.
I didn't want subversions, I didn't want it to be dark, or deep. All I wanted, was sparkles, fun and a good time.
So, when it first aired, I tried to stay positive. I tried to like it, even when it had all these massive red flags.
I’ve never been a big fan of 3D animation, and especially not how it’s used in Magical Girl animes. (We all know the disaster the first season of Sailor Moon Crystal was).
But I swallowed it down.
The characters were different from the original PV
But I swallowed it down.
The background scenery was bland and generic and hardly felt unique.
But I swallowed it down.
I was here since day 1. I was here when Stormy Weather premiered. I was here before many of you were, and
I swallowed it all down.
Because I really, really wanted this to be good.
And I really thought it would.
But things should have been made clear, when they fucked up the one thing they shouldn't. The one thing that held this all together. The one thing that kept me here even as everything was burning to the ground, and I was too naive to realize it.
They fucked up the thing that started all this, to begin with.

i remember in the mid 2010′s there was a pretty huge popularity of “stop shitting on media made for teenage girls” activism, because in the early 2010′s it was extremely popular to make fun of Justin Beiber, or twilight, or boybands or any piece of media made towards teenage girls, and media made for teen girls were put on a much higher sense of scrutiny than media made for teenage boys. and it WAS good that people were pointing the misogny of lot of the hate. The unfortunate result is that people started ignoring the mass “problematic” elements of some of these pieces of media. Most famously, the amount of racism and grooming in twilight (like how jacob fell in love with an actual baby) or the amount of actual misogyny in music made towards teenage girls BUT it also resulted in the weird dismissal of any criticism of media for teenage girls with “you’re really taking songs/movies/shows for 14 year olds girls seriously” which was not only anti-intellectual but also still like insulting media for teenage girls. as if it’s impossible for media for teenage girls to actually be good. and I’m seeing this again with media for children, because in general, I do think there was a problem with adults being weirdly hateful about media made for children. i remember a lot of grown-ass adults getting really pissed that children liked fornite for rather petty reasons, or adults claiming that kids who weren’t born in the 90′s “didn’t have a childhood” and that “all cartoons made today suck” when they haven’t actually watched it. But in turn I’ve seen a lot of weirdly dismissive comments about anyone who takes media made for children remotely seriously? because “x media didn’t get worse you’re just not 10 anymore″ is JUST as lazy of an analysis as “all cartoons made today suck, while all the cartoons i grew up with were great” because rather than analyzing cartoons on a base by base basis it’s dismissing any criticism becauses ALL cartoons are the same level of quality.  which isn’t actually a defense of modern kids media. and similiar to the twilight example, it’s let to the weird belief that it’s impossible for media made for children to carry harmful messaging or content. there’s a shit ton of tumblr posts where the punchline is “this person thinks steven universe (a show for CHILDREN!!!!) is irreeadamble media” and while i wouldn’t say steven universe is anywhere close to being that bad, it still contains rather racist and weirdly sexually content, in particulally the human zoo,. concrete (a design in the art book that resembled racist caricatures, that somehow ended up there) and steg who for a character meant to fusion of a father and son was weirdly fucking sexualized for no reason. and in general, there’s this weird dismissal that kids' media can actually BE good, so it’s pointless to criticize, which again isn’t really a defense of kids media but rather a dismissal that they’re culturally important enough to be worth looking into as if disney one of the richest companies in the planet.

regarding the recent events with sonics co creator being arrested I feel like sonic is just Cursed. Not like I’m the “ew that is o cursed who would make that” more in the “some hod decided that if that Blue Hedgehog does ANY GOOD I will rain pain upon him and anything so much as related to him even in the slightest”
yknow what time for a little bit of rambling rants my mutuals:
anything that even slightly is connected or embodies sonic is just as cursed as him
Some Examples include:
Hatsune Miku: a canonically 19year old Vocaloid that after 2 months of popularity was basically erased from the web cause people searched her up so much. And obviously the uncles went apeshit as well
Balan Wonderworld: Made by the Co creator of sonic that got arrested is a really nice looking game and apparently a good book as well and is in the middle of a redemption arc. However after its demo got released people belittled it over its glitchy gameplay and never gave it the chance it deserved
Friday Night Funkin: it’s an odd one to be listed since FNF isn’t a Sega Game but Canonically Boyfriends older sister is Hatsune Miku (now age 20 for lore reasons ) and you can see where this is going. For a while the community was fairly stable via Mods since the official game. Then Sonic.Exe’s mod came around-
Real Quick: Sonic.EXE his Creepypasta was so bad originally that people decided to make better versions and he has officially be acknowledged by Sega a few times now. His community is terrible which provides context to what’s to come for FNF. It’s most iconic Comtroversy is the Revie Controversy (Go look it up for extended context but to sum it up Revie was accused of ERP with a minor when it was really a 2 year difference when Revie was 16 and the one that pushed her into it was 14 and A man by Rightburst Ultra who is an ass framed her for even worse things got her kicked and basically filled the Mod with so many OC’s it killed it)
back to FNF thanks to that one mod it helped kickstart so much controversy it might have killed the main game. But since the main game isn’t A. Finished or B. Have anyone on Kawaiisprites team that done something it’s still living being updated slowly but because of that it continues to have bad things going down in the Mod community.
This Next one is a stretch but I has explanation for it:
Steven Universe: Now you might be asking yourself “My fellow Mutual why the Fuck is this show on here? It isn’t even connected to Sonic!”
and you would be right EXCEPT Sonic Booms tv show was On CN as was Steven Universe and Stevens whole nature of wanting to save the Earth and trusting nature kinda reminds me of sonic. Plus He can Go his own equivalent of SSJRosé and sonic has his super form which looks like Super Saiyan and they both can Achieve these forms via Magic Rocks ( Stevens Gem and the Chaos Emeralds)
okay time for the Cursed Reasoning:
Steven Universe has a pretty bad fanbase (Tumblr seems Chill about it so I think it was a Twitter thing but I don’t know about the past tho) and it was so bad it nearly killed a girl cause they didn’t draw Rose Quartz right. For more context that girl was already going through something and the fanbase wasn’t helping matters. They weren’t the cause but they weren’t a solution.
The show was always belittled as people weren’t happy with Steven being a pacifist and the shows inconsistent art style ( I’m a fan of the show and I never really saw a problem with either I’m just saying the the General hate for it is) to the point where people make art and jokes saying that other show characters would go out of their way to insult him (See the Fnf Mod Roasting on a Friday night for a recent ish example) and that these other characters are better at solving problems than him (even tho most characters of their own shows Like Mordecai and Rigby cause their own problems 90% of the time and they are usually solved after a bunch of people die. Adventure time gets a pass as most of the civilization and deity’s cause each other problems and it isn’t always Finns Duty to solve those ones. Most of Stevens problems were because of his mothers and they became his problems cause she died) and that CN itself hated the fact that there was so much LGBTQ energy at the time they tried to get it cancelled multiple times (Garnets Wedding being the final straw) and that people thought it was Rebecca Sugars way of showing propaganda. Etc you get the gist it’s like the Animation Sonic the hedgehog. Anytime something goes good for it a bitch slap follows
(Sorry for the especially long rant about Steven Universe it just felt like the Most attacked without it being connected to Sega Directly)
even Sega itself gets no respect as everyone assumes that Sega is lazy meanwhile the workers run themselves ragged meanwhile Game freak is getting a nicer treatment even though it has like Triple the workers than Sega
The point is I feel like some fan of Mario or just someone that hated Hedgehogs made a deal with the devil to make Sonic and anything that even shared his energy have major problems and hopefully this year might start to break A Sonics Cycle and B. Whatever curse it has

To the Anons sharing their frustrations and anger about That ‘90s Show with me:
Even though I’m not posting every message I get, I am reading all of them, and I understand and share many of your feelings.
I don’t want this blog to become a crap-on-That-’90s-Show fest, which is the main reason why I’m being selective about which asks I answer.
I both like much of That ‘90s Show, so far, for what it is and experience little emotional connection to it because of how it is. The show inspires frustration in me rather than nostalgia, but it does have its charms.
The writing simply isn’t there, but the acting is (mostly). I care about the characters (to a point) but don’t feel connected to them.
The choices made for the T7S characters’ futures serve That ‘90s Show, not That ‘70s Show and, with rare exception, display little understanding of who the T7S characters actually are.
I do think Eric and Donna’s parenting style is believable, and I enjoyed watching that despite that the details of how and when they became parents is vexing.
Kelso gets away with almost every heinous act he commits on T7S, and he continues to do so in T9S.
The Jackie of T7S seasons 5-7 would be horrified at this version of her future. It’s like her own “It’s a Wonderful Life” (T7S 4x01): “I wish Steven and I had never kissed.”
Hyde cannot exist in the T9S universe (even off-screen) for several reasons (one very understandable one), and his absence is greatly felt (beyond his relationship with Jackie).
That ‘90s Show and That ‘70s Show are two different series. But like many of the characters on T9S, they interact with each other, they don’t bond.
That ‘70s Show still exists as its own thing. One of my main goals with @those70scomics long ago became to keep the T7S characters on the trajectory set for them by many consistently-written episodes of the show. To keep them growing and changing. To allow the humor and plots to arise from who the characters are instead of forcing the characters to behave against their nature to serve plot and punchline.
I’m currently drawing the next batch, and I dived back into that the day after I binged T9S -- and the first comic I read felt like more like the universe of That ‘70s Show than T9S did to me. It felt like coming home after being in a different country. Yeah, I wrote it, but I often forget what I wrote by the time I get to the drawing phase.
To be fair, my understanding of T7S and its characters isn’t going to be the same as everyone else’s. Many people will feel at home with T9S. I don’t and, judging from my inbox, a lot of others don’t either. And that’s okay.
The existence of That ‘90s Show doesn’t negate who the That ‘70s Show characters truly are. And the fact that people don’t feel at home in the T9S universe doesn’t mean other people can’t or shouldn’t.

No one tagged me so here I am, as always!  😆 Though @sheirukitriesfandom   said “anyone else who wants”, well that’s me.
8 shows to get people to knpw me better. I’m not a show-watcher in general, now I don’t even watch movies that much... My ADHD-like traits and the lack of comfortable place make it hard.
But in not-so-distant past, before diving back into fantasy worlds, I was in animated shows fandoms. I was even an avid brony and attended bronycons with elaborate cosplays, can you believe it?
So well...
Some teen time-favorites that I enjoy rewatching:
1. Legend of Wiliam Tell, 90s teen fantasy TV series from New Zealand. It was aired on local TV in early 00s, and just the type of fantasy I needed. Back then I loved character and costume designs, the scenery.
2. 10th Kingdom. I even wrote a fan-fiction - my own story about a wolf and a shepherdess set in that fairytale world. There was also a LARP event on 10th kingdom in my area, and I wanted to go, but couldn’t.
3. Gargoyles. Hell yeah, how I loved them... Words can’t describe.
then some adult shows, for a change...
4. Carnivale. There was a time I loved retro aesthetic (any kind from 20s to 70s) and was really fond of old style travelling circus, freakshows, dark cabaret. So that was just my thing! Not really long, which is good. I still have it all on DVD, rewatched about 2 times
5. Westworld. Actually gave up after 3 seasons, but enjoyed them all. Androids and philosophic aspects of AI is another of my big interests: one of my favorite movies is Steven Spielberg’s AI, and I stepped one feet into Detroit fandom... So I just couldn’t miss it.
...and finally some of my former big cartoon fandom loves!
6. Steven Universe. The reason I’m Alma, actually (Almandine) - it hooked since then. Yes, I loved it way too much and drew some fanarts back then.
7. My Little Pony. G4, obviously. Though, as a 10-11 yo girl, back in 90s, I enjoyed G1 (2? the one that had girls, Megan and Molly, in it) on TV. And even wrote my very first pieces of fanfiction ever! Short silly tales about some characters I liked the most. We had an old typewriter at home (don’t know how it got there - probably dad brought it, he liked collecting weird stuff here and there), and I enjoyed typing them! So sad those papers are long lost...
Anyway. I told you back in 2016-19 I was an avid brony, did plenty of cosplays (beautiful fantasy-core humanizations) and attended cons. That was a thing, for sure
(don’t know don’t care what’s on with G5 and the brony community now, have no time to check... will be selling off my comic books soon)
8. Transformers Prime. Watched it at work in 2016, while waiting for new seasons of SU and MLP, and suddenly found myfelf in TF fandom, though for a short while. I couldn’t comprehend G1 show, that felt super boring and shallow (sorry, if you like it - those are just my own feelings, and it was all not enough to watch more, dig deeper), but Prime has enough drama and character development for me to get hooked.
Arcee  🤩
RiD and Animated are also good, and I read some comic book series (Windblade and TAAO were super cool, but MTMTE complex and boring to me).
Obviously I came to that fandom for fembots, for some shiny metal boobs! But I’m not a fan of mecha in general (as well as ponies or whatever - what I love are storytelling and characters on the inside, not always visually. As for G4 MLP. I actually loved to reimagine them 100% humanized), I prefer beautiful human girls. That’s probably why I lost interest soon...

94. Worst acting you’ve ever seen in a movie?
Jupiter Ascending, but to be fair the whole movie was bad the acting was just part of poor writing partially I think
95. Can you think of a movie where one scene ruined the whole thing?
It doesn’t ruin the movie but because I’m somewhat sex-repulsed I’m not a huge fan of the sex scenes in American Psycho and I would watch it more if not for that.
96. Are you a “Tommy-texter” during movies or a “shhhing Susan”?
What the fuck does this even mean. If I’m at home with my mom sure I’ll text and so will she but if I’m at the movies I won’t but I’m also not going to shush people I have anxiety. If I’m watching movies with friends we’ll talk during it.
97. Think of a positive movie experience you will never forget
Watching movies with my friends at the library
98. A movie or performance you thought deserved an Oscar?
Tom Hardy in Venom.
99. Best movie soundtrack?
Stand By Me
100. A block-buster movie that deserved all the hype and more?
The original Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Venom, and Deadpool

Hello pisslings. I’m back from the dead after a measly 20 posts!!! (Impressive, I know)
I return with good news!!! I’m no longer a Genshin fan. However, I return with equally bad news!!! I’m still a mha fan!!!
But that’s alright. I’ve had a few awakenings in the time I’ve been gone. Mainly, some gender awakenings and such. But here’s a proper intro before we get into that.
Basic Info
Personal Stuff
My name is Nic!! Though I also go by Kikki. Feel free to call me either!!
In terms of like. Adjectives??? I guess??? I generally prefer masculine (like I hate being called a girl but being called a guy is v nice) but also like calling me cute or pretty is cool if you wanna do that for some reason idk.
I’m a Leo ♌️ my birthday is August 13th
No you don’t get to know my age fuck off /lh
I am actually diagnosed with depression and anxiety as well as mixed-moderate ADHD
I am NOT diagnosed with maladaptive daydreaming but how the fuck can I misdiagnose myself with that like it’s so specific I’m like 90% I have it or I’m just absolutely feral no in between.
There is also a good chance I’m autistic but like that definitely isn’t diagnosed so I’m. Currently holding out on it. I have my suspicions though.
Anyways—
People put their kins here right??? I feel like I’ll get called a poser or some shit and people will be like “you don’t really kin these characters1!!1!” But fuck it here’s my top kins
Dabi (My Hero Academia)
Sunny (Omori)
Isaac (The Binding of Isaac)
Mafuyu Asahina (Project Sekai: Colorful Stage)
Ena Shinonome (Project Sekai: Colorful Stage)
Sayori (Doki Doki Literature Club)
Steven Universe (Steven Universe)
Mipha (Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)
Stuff I do
I draw sometimes!!! It’s a struggle but I try really hard. Maybe I’ll open an art blog sometime.
I also have been trying to write. Which is really hard cause I’m just— not good at going back and rereading my writing. I have very few fics posted but my user is NikxieRocks on Ao3 if you’re curious.
I play video games. If you wanna be my friend on Switch, WiiU, or Switch, feel free to dm me. I have no cool gaming friends </3
Silly Gender Things
Ah yes. The real reason I came back to Tumblr. I realized there was a thriving community of xenogender users and I wouldn’t get hatecrimed like I would on Tiktok. So anyways here’s my gay things. Please be respectful ^^
Boyfluid
Tumblr media
Boyfluid is like genderfluid but you never fluctuate to the female side. In other words, my gender fluctuates between masculine and nonbinary identities. I’m so glad I found this out, it’s so fucking reassuring. Anyways onto my xenos!!!
Doggender/Pupgender
Tumblr media
The delicious flavor of this xeno is feeling connected to dogs or identifying with or as one in some way. For me personally, it just makes me feel comfy and happy and very Yes so it’s probably a good thing!!! I do in fact identify with puppers it’s real.
Dogflux/Pupflux
Tumblr media
This might be a bit. Repetitive. But I just. Love this flag so much. I’m so stupid and this identity makes me giddy and I found it less than an hour ago so we’re rolling with it until I find more xenogenders to wrap around me like a protective armor to shield my mental illness. Anyways, this gender is basically boyfluid but more specific— it’s the fluctuating between the male gender and doggender which fits me pretty well. Anyways that’s it for now.
My Pronouns
Pretty simple! I prefer he/pup/they (in that order). I really really really don’t like she/her so please don’t call me that!! And I prefer pup when I’m feeling more nonbinary, he/him when I’m feeling more masc. (I’m not sure how I feel as I’m writing this but that’s cause it’s literally midnight where I am). Pffffff what else. Omg right fandoms ok.
Things I will be Posting About (Fandoms)
MHA.
It’s. Chronic. I am HAUNTED by this series. Horikoshi has me in a death grip and Dabi is taking FULL ADVANTAGE OF IT. I love mha so much I’m never shutting up about it in general but I’ll talk extra long about the villains (specifically Dabi), todofam, and sometimes Bakugou. I’m an edgy bitch what can I say.
Vocaloid
I don’t care if the actual vocaloid fandom is dead I’m currently riding its corpse into the sunset because I literally have no one to talk to about how good vocaloid music is. IT SLAPS SO HARD EVERYONE SHOUKD BE LISTENING TO IT AAAA ok yeah that’s all stan IA.
Pokémon
This can either go one of two ways:
Scarlet and Violet are good games and I won’t shut up about the series and how much fun I’m having and how good the competitive scene is
Scarlet and Violet are ASS and I won’t shut up about how disappointed I am in game freak
Regardless I’m probably gonna talk about how good White 2 is how much I used to have a crush on Gladion.
Splatoon
IM SO EXCITED FOR SPLATOON 3 TEAM PAPER AGAINST THE WORLD BBY
Ok now that I got that out of my system— as a Sploosh main who’s been playing since Splatoon 1, and actually prefers Splatoon 1, I will be reliving my glory days as I try to get A rank in Splat Zones. God help me.
Anime Figures
I am aware this isn’t a fandom but I need to talk about Hatsune Miku figures or my wallet will be empty.
Maybe Undertale or Fnaf or other Cringe topics
Idk man I watched matpat as a kid. My first EVER fandom was Undertale. I am clearly mentally ill. There will be some dumb and concerning shit. I am cringe, but I am free. So is life.
Dnis
Should be pretty standard but yk here we go
Basic DNIs. I’m literally a black queer like get off my page if you’re racist and homophobic
Genshin fans who like… REALLY like Kusanali and are ignorant about the whole Sumeru thing… gtfo…
Anyone who thinks blackwashing is real like touch grass
DID/OSDD fakeclaimers I hope you rot in hell
Proshippers. No explanation needed.
People who harass fans of problematic media. Like no stop you’re literally just as bad if not worse than them by harassing someone. Just leave them alone smh
People who shit on mha just to shit on mha like please get a hobby
Genuine man haters like I’m literally masc leaning that shit makes me uncomfy as hell
ENDEAVOR STANS AND ENDHAWKS SHIPPERS (I know this is fandom specific but AAAUHH)
mlm fetishizers
People who try to force their religion on others (I’m secular. I really don’t care if you’re religious but don’t talk about it with me. Chill out.)
Other Stuff and Outro
My Triggers/Boundaries
My dms are open if you just wanna talk about fandom stuff or writing or art or something but DO. NOT. COME IN MY DMS TO VENT. Unless you’re a very good friend. That is a great way to get yourself blocked.
Don’t send me gore (is that even allowed on Tumblr?) and don’t ever genuinely try to like fuck in dms or somethin??? (I was on Amino idk if this happens on other social media platforms)
And don’t rp with me cause I just don’t roleplay with strangers anymore.
Ok I think that’s it. Probably. Maybe. Idk man it’s really late I’m tired af I’ll probably tag in the morning. Anyways live laugh Shoto!!!! See y’all later ♡

Note
I’m sorry but people can claim to be “not against the LGBTQ+ community” and also be unaware of behavior/opinions that can be homophobic.
The way you disregard the writers’ intents for adding more queer characters to the cast by saying “i only see them as sisters/best friends” when it’s so common to erase and disregard the very few representation wlw/sapphics/lesbians get. In fact, The Owl House got that type of censorship in several countries by making Amity & Luz have a “sisterly” bond instead or how Sailor Neptune & Sailor Uranus were made “cousins” in the english dub of Sailor Moon despite canonically being in a relationship. These are only a few examples that come to mind.
Ian Flynn, Aleah Baker & Jennifer Hernandez have spoken out about how they were on board with Sallicole being a thing as well as confirming that Sally is bisexual. The Spark of Life arc was only the foundation of the more intimate relationship they’d eventually have, but unfortunately since the comics were cut short not long after, they couldn’t really go forward with more stories that explored their dynamic.
Sallicole isn’t like other ships like Fiona/Scourge or Mina Mongoose/Tails that came out of the blue just because, but I don’t see as much people complain about how they interacted like once before they ended up as a couple 🤷
The fact that you decide to purposely disregard the writer’s intent of Sally & Nicole’s interactions to be romantic and then say “no they’re not in love just because I don’t want them to” says more about you than anything
Wow, just wow…
You judge me as an instant “homophobe” is like judging a black person as a “criminal”.
You don’t even know me, and yet you only judged me based on my one post, which was more of a rant than anything.
Speaking of which, I’ve said before that I wasn’t homophobic in any way, shape or form, I was ranting about how people just mistook one Sonic story as an instant Sally/Nicole shipping when there’s not even proof of said shipping being canon in any way.
Even in the last few issues, there was no confirmation that Sally and Nicole were a “thing”, despite people seeing it and Ian just “making it a pairing because he hated shipping wars”.
If I did sound homophobic, I apologize, but I was in no way saying or doing anything against the LGBT community, I was ranting on here.
Also, I’d be more against the person that’s kicking up a huge stink loud about someone else and their opinions. Just respect the opinions of others.
I was just speaking from my own perspective, and made some minor good points. Again, I made no indications or said anything that was even remotely “homophobic”.
EDIT: And as for the LGBT+ in other shows; the scenes featuring Amity/Luz in Owl House are only censored in countries like Russia, for obvious reasons.
And Uranus and Neptune being dubbed as “cousins” only happened years ago in the original English dub, before ViZ studios did a new dub in the 90’s Sailor Moon anime, when they were made for the newer DVD sets.
And I know there’s animated series with the LGBT+ theme in it, mostly because of Steven Universe. And even though the Gem characters are genderless, they still had that LGBT+ theme in it, mostly Ruby and Sapphire’s relationship and wedding scene.
Hell, there was even a scene near the end of the live action Beauty and the Beast movie, where Le Fou danced with another man, but that only lasted for a second.
The reason why I said “I saw Sally and Nicole as best friends/sister figures” is because I’ve grown up watching the original SatAm series and read the original Sonic comics from Archie.
I don’t see that “Romantic bond” between the two, because Nicole’s an AI first off, she was already in a relationship with Shard in the later issues while Sally and Sonic’s relationship were still being slowly healing (And Sally was with Money Khan/Ken for a short time) secondly.
Third and most importantly of all, you talked about how two writers and a penciler talked about how it’s “confirmed” that the SalCole is canon in the comic universe, which is mostly a “They said, we said” thing.
Unless you had solid proof that this is all true, then it’s basically “Your word against theirs” kind of thing. Again, (as I’ve stated in the first reply to you) if you or anybody else like that pairing, then that’s completely alright and your choice.
Point is, we have different opinions on what we like or don’t like. I’ve spoken up about my opinions, but someone else didn’t respect that and instead of being civil about it, they pulled the “Homophobe Card” and labeled me as. Homophobe, despite not even knowing me to begin with.
If you don’t like my opinions on certain things, that’s all fine and dandy, but I only ask that you be respectful and civil to me and other fans/people.
There’s a golden rule that goes “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”, and I think that also applies to others that makes opinions on certain subjects.
Sure, there may be some opinions you won’t like, but that doesn’t entitle you to just instantly label someone else in a relationship rude manner, just because you don’t like their post or what they like/dislike.

And I also think that it hearing you talk about those very purposeful efforts towards cultivating a way to teach moral imagination to medical students reminds me of what I think has been a really meaningful and wide ranging debate over the last decade about the very purpose of higher education in the United States in general. And in particular, it makes me think of this really pointed and to me fascinating exchange that happened about ten years ago. William Deresiewicz, who used to teach at Yale, writes this very now very famous or infamous, depending on who you ask, essay in The New Republic called Excellent Sheep, where he makes this argument that higher education sees itself, especially elite higher education, sees itself as having these very sort of noble ideals and cultivating free thinkers and all these things. But that what it actually does, as he puts it, is mints, excellent sheep who are really shiny and really good at high test scores and getting, you know, prestigious internships and whatever. But if you kind of look under the hood and look under the surface, there is often not a lot of there, there, is the argument that he makes. But the thing that actually interests me much more than his original argument is that then as a very pointed response to his original essay, Steven Pinker, who’s a world famous psychologist at Harvard, wrote this response essay, and I’m going to quote a paragraph from his response essay. He says, “Perhaps I am emblematic of everything that is wrong with elite American education, but I have no idea how to get my students to ‘build a self’ or 'become a soul.’ It isn’t taught in graduate school and in the hundreds of faculty appointments and promotions I have participated in, we’ve never evaluated a candidate on how well he or she could accomplish it. I submit that if building a soul is the goal of a university education, you’re going to be reading anguished articles about how the universities are failing at it for a long, long time.” And the reason that that interests me so much is because it’s clear from the tone, even in just that quote, let alone if you read his entire essay, that he views this whole idea of -I’m not saying that building a soul is exactly the same thing as cultivating a moral imagination, but I certainly think they’re at least related. And it’s clear that this person, who, as I said, is a world famous psychologist at Harvard, one of the preeminent thinkers, I think, in his field of his era, views that derisively, right? Like, 'building a soul’ is in scare quotes to make sure that everybody knows that he thinks it’s such a silly idea that he would never put it without scare quotes in his own writing. Right. And I just find that to suggest such an impoverished view of what education is, like, what it means, what we’re doing as people who are teaching, sometimes medical students, sometimes undergraduates. And so all of that is to say that I give endless applause to you and your colleagues because I feel like what is needed is this sort of- because in medical school what that becomes -my formulation of what Steven Pinker is saying in medical school- is that it becomes entirely mechanistic or technocratic. Right. We are complicated machinists fixing complicated machines, which, you know, on one level is sort of fine. Like, you know, fixing the human machine can still be exhilarating in its way. But I feel like it just cores out the heart of the thing that brought us into medicine in the first place. And no wonder that we’re all burnt out if we’re working 90 hours a week being really complicated machinists, you could almost guess that that would be what would happen.

A talk about...the 1986 Transformers film & modern cartoons
I don’t think it’s much more of a talk. But more so me rambling. This is taken from my Twitter on a retweet of mine. Spoilers for the 1986 film if you haven’t seen it yet possibly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That I recall, I wanted to make a reblog talking about this when I talked about watching the first 7 episodes of the G1 cartoon in a long time. But I didn’t. And thought about not making a reblog.
Yet...in this rambling, I just wanted to share my opinions. Again, I likely sound stupid.
I mean...the first Transformers cartoon made an impact. And cartoons still continue to this day. And the movie is basically the lead up/start of season 3. With so many modern cartoons today. Whether from the 2000′s or 2010′s, or even the 2020′s now. The 21st century that is. And we shouldn’t forget Beast Wars and how that was doing some new stuff in the time it was airing.
While I do think the 1986 film isn’t maybe as deep as the mature themes of shows like Avatar and Steven Universe. But I think it’s more so just the fact of how again, RAW that film is. And the whole plan to kill off so many characters. The way it’s portrayed. Along with the whole thing with Unicron and his first appearance, and other things in the film.
In a REALLY sick way of looking at things. I’ll just say it’s a good thing none of those cartoons I mentioned I hope aren’t being backed up by toys but other means. But the other thing is...it’s a good thing that kids many favorite characters in this age likely won’t be viciously slaughtered in the same vain as this movie did.
And I will admit, before and when writing this. I feel like...this is kind of funny. But it’s not...but I think its more so about the fact that THIS HAPPENED. And the result that happened after this movie was shown to audiences. It’s also insane this movie exists and it was from 1986...I saw this before watching the G1 cartoon that I recall right in 2007.
The reason I’m not counting films like “The Black Caudron” which was released a year earlier than this film. And whatever else. I’m mainly speaking of cartoons made for television. And this is canon to the tv show. So, it’s part of the cartoon. But please correct me about any other mature animated stuff. Because I know about Ralph Bakshi’s being one of the earliest people to do adult animation. I mainly know this information from this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRCeEmOSHXg Correct me if there’s more.
I’m getting off topic. But again, what I’m saying is that 1986 Transformers film is FUCKING RAW. And modern cartoons in some ways won’t have to face something as raw as what that film did.
Edit update I’m sorry I forgot to mention Batman The Animated Series. Along with other 90′s shows like Superman, Hey Arnold, and just remembered the X-Men show. Those were important as well. Especially with Batman being hailed as one of the greatest ever. I just think Twitter has really tainted my viewpoint on superheroes. Particularly that of Batman.
Including, I thought to myself after writing this. If this post bothers you because I kind of talk about...dark stuff. Please understand, this wasn’t my intention. This is more about me talking about the maturity of cartoons for children. And how I feel the Transformers film, even with season 3 that I know, was PRETTY RAW for its time.

We sure as hell wouldn’t have the kind of shows we do now if Revolutionary Girl Utena didn’t exist. Even back in the 90’s, it was revolutionizing the face of animation-- and now it’s come around in a ton of influential western animation that references it. My Little Pony did it, Steven Universe drew heavily from its themes, She-Ra pulled on the queer and relationship elements, Owl House referenced it, there are others I don’t even know about, and what about that highly suspicious hands scene DuckTales did in “Nightmare on Killmotor Hill?” At this point, it’s basically the hidden Godmother of modern western animation. And every time something new gives it a shoutout, a ton of people ask, “Should I watch Utena?”
Now, that’s a pretty fraught question, because when I said Utena was the Godmother of these shows, I didn’t mean the fairy type with the dreams being fulfilled and all-- I meant the “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse” type with a gun in hand and a lot of pain to inflict. It’s hard enough to boil Utena down to the basics as it is, let alone avoiding spoilers and trying to make sure triggers are respected. It takes forever, it’s hard to do, it’s really easy to miss things, and it ends up confusing people more often than not. So, here’s my shot at an answer-- it is not a list of triggers, there are a couple purposely vague spoilers, but nothing that you won’t figure out from watching the first episode. I’m not going to concern myself about specific plot points or items. Instead, I’m gonna explain just enough for people to get the idea and judge for themselves.
Utena starts as your typical school drama/enemy of the week series, plunges into a navel-gazing deconstruction of its own pieces, then further beckons you on to deconstruct your pieces. The core of it is about gender roles, abuse, and the harm the systems around us inflict on us. The first scene starts out with a fairytale-- once upon a time, a girl was sad and a Prince gave her a ring and told her someday the ring would lead her to him. Then she decided SHE would become a Prince. But, the show literally asks the viewer, was that really such a good idea?
Then it illustrates and tears that fairytale apart. Our main character, Utena, sees a girl named Anthy being abused and traded around by sword duels, and attempts to win the duels to protect Anthy; she loses Anthy at some point, then regains her, as you would expect. You would think the story ends there and she would be rewarded for that-- buuuuuuut you’re nowhere near the end of the series yet. And that's where I have to stop summarizing, because the longer it goes on the stranger and darker it gets.
Utena is weird, guys. It’s a classic, and for some really fucking good reasons, but there are a lot of psychedelic visuals, references to literature, psychological breakdowns, references to its own damn self, and just… it’s just so much. I’m not gonna lie, it can be offputting, because you never get what you expect. It’s shoujo as hell, but backwards and run through a shredder. It’s magical girl anime, but only if by “magical” you mean “traumatized.” It’s yuri-- yes there are queer relationships-- but it's actually a story about abuse and how hard it is to build an honest relationship in the midst of abuse. I’m not saying it’s not yuri, but I am saying that holy shit it’s NOT the soft, fluffy, lesbian love you imagine when you think of the yuri genre. Anyone who just says “It’s yuri, watch it!” and won’t explain anything else is, like, probably out to get you or something-- especially if they mean the other kind of yuri. It is, absolutely, not porn.
On top of all that, it's longer than modern anime (39 whole episodes!), it seems at first to be just a “rah-rah girls can be awesome too” kinda show, and then later on it depicts trauma in ways that can be very hard to watch and that you might not expect. Are you up for extremely relatable or totally unflinching or uniquely painful scenes of abusive interactions, both sexual and nonsexual? Are you okay with explicitly depicted abuse, are you able to take care of yourself if you get triggered, and are you still gonna want to watch after seeing something that really hurts? If you are, Utena might be for you. Are you okay with surreal bullshitting and trippy imagery? Do you like that feeling of your brain melting because you’re not sure what’s real? If you do, you’re gonna like Utena.
And how about the core themes? Do you care about abuse and systemic harm, are you interested in gender at all? You don’t have to be, but if those things don’t bore you or actively put you off, you’ll get some good brain food out of Utena.
And if you aren’t up for any of that-- no worries, okay? You take care of yourself, watch the things you enjoy, tackle the ideas you’re interested in. It’s not a judgment; this is not a good show for everyone to watch. I see it all the time, where people don’t enjoy the show and get nothing out of it, and that’s why I’m writing this. For the wrong person, this show is just boring surreal bullshit with bad things happening to people for no reason, and I want to prevent that.
But for the right person, this show can be life-changing-- more than half of the people I speak to about Utena say “my life is so different because I watched it” and they really mean it. Hell, I left an abusive relationship and married my wife because of this show-- we run Empty Movement, the biggest and oldest Utena site there is, and our community is full of amazing people with equally amazing stories.
So, should you watch Utena? I mean, yeah, I’d love it if you did, but I’m mega biased cause I wanna talk about it! Utena seems to attract that type-- once we sink our proverbial teeth in, we just keep chewing on those ideas until they revolutionize our lives. Or until we have to start shitposting in self-defense. Maybe that’s why we’ve lasted so long as a community. Maybe Utena would make you think about the things it said, maybe you would enjoy it, maybe you’d like the characters and wanna mercilessly drag on them. That’s all there in the community, and I’m so glad it is.
Let me lay it on the line for you: if you think you can handle the abusive scenes, if you’re interested in the themes, if you like Dali and Frida Kahlo and think symbolism is cool, this might just be your jam. If you’re queer, questioning, or on a gender/sexuality journey, this has a lot of food for you. Same if you’re a feminist, or if you’re looking at the structures of power in the world and wondering how they work-- Utena’s got your back on that. And if you’re dealing with some shit-- and feel up to exploring it, painfully, I cannot stress that enough-- or you’re just interested in how people work, you might wanna take a look at this. Over the last couple decades in this fandom, I’ve noticed that the three biggest indicators of whether someone will enjoy Utena are whether you’re curious about how people work, whether you like metaphorical and symbolic art, and whether you can empathize with trauma without being too overloaded by it. You don’t need all three, but you need at least one to have a chance at a good time.
You have to decide, though, because only you know if this is your kind of deal.
If you can’t refuse the offer this Godmother has for you, come and join the Revolutionary Girl Utena mafia family. Nozomi has been generous enough to put it all up on Youtube, so if you’re American, you can give it a shot right now– and if you have Crunchyroll, you’re in luck, because it’s there as well! For the rest of you, I trust you’ll go through the appropriate channels to support the work :)

Who gets sick on Christmas Eve? You did. That’s how much the universe hated you. Instead of spending your first Christmas Eve as a newly married woman, you were laying in bed sick and miserable, unable to even enjoy the light snow falling outside of your window. You should be making cookies and singing softly to Santa Baby, pretending that you don’t notice your husband checking you out.
Worse than being sick, you were unable to pick up your very special Christmas gift.
Sure, you knitted Steve a very nice sweater and bought brand new art supplies because now that he was retired, he felt the inspiration to draw again.
Incidentally, art was the reason you met Steve Rogers. You were at a very low point in your life. You cut the strings on an ex who went behind your back telling lies to your former friends who collectively froze you out. You needed something to lift your spirits and your esteem. You signed up to take a life drawing class. That seemed like the perfect place to start. You were no Picasso, but you loved your art classes in school. The problem was, was that you were wine drunk when you signed up and accidentally put yourself down as the model rather than the artist. You almost chickened out when you were given your robe. But this was what you wanted. Sort of. More than that, you needed to pull yourself out of this painful rut. And you did, wearing nothing but a blush. It was only when the class was over that you realized the Captain Steven Rogers was one of the artists. You might have been more embarrassed if he didn’t shyly ask you for coffee afterward.
But the gift you planned for Steve this Christmas was one of those once-in-a-lifetime gifts that you may never find again.
While you pouted, silently cursing your terrible luck, your phone chimed. Pumpkin, Sam Wilson’s wife, messaged you.
Has Hudson confirmed The Package yet?
You snorted a laugh, but that was a mistake because that led to a coughing fit that was sure to alert your husband toiling away in the kitchen for the two of you. But you couldn’t help it. Pumpkin was so corny it was cute. She and Sam were expecting their first child due in March. They were spending Christmas Eve with Sarah and the kids. Bucky and Nat spent the entire day with them yesterday before setting out for Clint and Laura’s. You tried not to feel sad about Steve having to miss out on being with the rest of the family because of your ill-timed illness.
Not yet. He said there was a 90% chance that it wouldn’t arrive until the new year 😫
😱 He normally works a little faster than that. I'm sorry. Did you get the videos I sent this morning?
Yes! Bucky singing Hungry Eyes to Natasha almost made me cough up a lung 😂
“Sweetheart? I heard you coughing.” You quickly ended the convo before Steve opened the door. “Do you need more medicine?”
You blanched unconsciously. There was no greater torture for you than drinking cough syrup. “No, no, baby, I’m fine. Promise.”
Steve, clearly not believing you, but unable to withstand the pout on your beautiful face, let it go. He came in carrying a serving tray. “I know how you feel about soup,” you hated soup because you could never make it like your Nana. “But I think you might like this. My mother used to make it for me and I think I got her recipe right.”
You smile ruefully knowing that you would love whatever he made. “Thank you.” You set up against the headboard. “I’m really sorry we’re missing spending time with everyone at Sarah’s.”
Steve’s soft pink lips thinned in consternation. “Stop that. You can’t help getting sick. Besides, Sam says that Sarah and Pumpkin are already planning a New Year’s weekend trip for everyone.” Steve carefully scooped up a spoonful of soup to feed you. Your heart fluttered a little bit.
You let the first taste settle on your tongue and hummed. Not only was it the perfect temperature, but you were instantly taken back to those summers you spent with your Nanna, dreading when it was time to leave.
“Oh, Stevie,” your eyes filled with tears. “It’s perfect.”
Steve beamed and began to tell you all about how he made it. Not only did he make you soup, Steve even made your tea exactly how you liked it on the rare occasions you picked tea over coffee, and your favorite cookies. Unfortunately for you, Steve bargained before letting you have even a nibble of the cookies.
“Just one more dose and you can have all the cookies you want.”
“Stevie,” you whined, turning your head away from the spoon like a fussy toddler. “I hate it. It makes me gag.”
“I know it’s disgusting, but you have to take it to get better, honey. Will you do it for me? Please?”
You pouted even harder. Steve looking at you with his eyes so blue and filled with care and love was completely unfair. “You fight dirty, Mr. Rogers.”
“Only when it’s for you, Mrs. Rogers.”
You closed your eyes and swallowed the bitter liquid quickly. You don’t gag, but a shudder racks the length of your body. “Oh my god, that’s nasty!” Steve quickly passed you a Gatorade to wash the icky taste out of your mouth.
“You know, I think you deserve something special for being such a good girl for me.”
“Stevie, I’m too gross and germy for playtime.”
Steve’s lips twitched. “Not that. I was thinking I would draw a bath for you and then we can spend some time by the fireplace if you feel up to it.”
“Yes,” you agreed quickly. Anything that would finally get you out of the bed. You loved every moment of being Mrs. Steve Rogers, but your husband was a complete Mother Hen whenever you got sick.
“I was hoping you would say yes.” Steve picked you up in his arms as if you weighed nothing and carried you to the bathroom. Steam billowed out and immediately, you inhaled the soothing scent of eucalyptus. Steve helped you out of your sleeping gown, blinking in surprise to find you completely bare underneath.
“Didn’t feel like wearing anything else,” you shrug with a blush.
Steve pressed his forehead against yours and growled, “just wait until you’re better, Mrs. Rogers.”
Steve eased you into the perfectly temped water, your eyes closed involuntarily as an easy sigh escaped your lips. Steve washed your back and your hair. His long, strong fingers gently massaged your scalp as he told you an insanely hilarious story involving a bagel and three baby ducks during his latest dog walking expedition. Steve let you soak until the water grew lukewarm. Even sick, you knew how lucky you were to have a man who loved you so wholly and unconditionally.
He dressed you both in his and hers pajama onesies you bought as a joke. On the back of yours, it says, I Love His Beard, while Steve’s says, I Love Her Butt.
Of course, Steve refused to let you walk anywhere while you were sick. He carried you to the living room.
Your jaw dropped at the sight awaiting you. Steve had managed to move the couch and create a blanket and pillow fort across from the fireplace. The sheets were decorated with white fairy lights, your favorite movie was queued to play on the big screen, and Christmas music played softly from your vintage record player. The scent of baked cookies and your favorite candles created a soft ambiance to the scene.
“Oh, Steve, I love it!” He carefully set you down in the center of the pillows. “Wait, where are you going?” you made grabby hands at Steve when he started to pull away.
“I’m just going to run in the kitchen and grab some snacks,” he said, kissing your palm. “I’ll be right back.”
Steve returned a mini charcuterie board filled with all of your favorite fruits and cheeses and more of his delicious homemade cookies. You lay back against his chest as he fed you bites while the movie played in the background.
You barely made it twenty minutes into the movie when you began to succumb to the warmth of your husband’s arms. You were only planning to rest your eyes for a few minutes when there came a knock at the door.
“Who could that be?” you mumbled, still not ready to open your eyes.
“I’ll go see.” As a precaution to you, Steve slipped on his face mask before opening the door.
You tried to stay awake, but between the warmth from the bath and the coziness of the pillows and blankets, you were fighting a losing battle. It was only when you felt Steve’s lips against your cheeks, your chin, your forehead, your eyelids, and the tip of your nose did you force yourself to waken. Steve was perched above you, wide blue eyes filled with tears and wet cheeks.
“What’s wrong, baby?”
“My Christmas present was just delivered.” You sat up, looking at the aged leather-bound photo album you ordered from Etsy for Hudson to use for the family photos he managed to track down. “How…?”
You cupped Steve’s damp cheeks in your hands. “I didn’t think it would be here in time, but Pumpkin told me about this guy she found who specializes in investigating family genealogy, and has a knack for restoring damaged photos. I snapped a picture of the painting you made of your mom and emailed it to him. Once I did, he was very eager to do it."
"I never thought I would see my mother's face like this again." Steve hugged you tightly, sobbing softly into your shoulder. "Thank you so much for this."
You carded your fingers through his hair, letting your nails gently scratch his scalp until his tears ran dry. "I'm so glad this made you happy, Stevie."
Steve pulled back, eyes red, but the biggest smile on his face. "Since you've done this for me, it's only right that I give you your gift." Steve grabbed a thinly wrapped package from under the tree. "I was going to wait until you were better, but..."
You eagerly opened the package. You were just like a little kid leading up to Christmas. There were many nights Steve put you over his knee for sneaking out of bed to shake your presents to try and get a sense of what they may be.
"Steve," you whispered, eyes roaming over the card. "There's a new addition to the Rogers family. Introducing Ellie."
Tumblr media
"You named her after Carl's wife?"
"Well, Up was the last Disney movie to make you cry."
"I can't wait to meet her, Stevie! Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas, Mrs. Rogers."
As the two of you sat wrapped in your blankets and pillows, Steve telling you everything he remembered about the members of his family in the pictures, and planning for the arrival of your first ever fur baby, you had no idea that this time next year, you two will have welcomed your first child.

Cartoon Network Hotel Review
Tumblr media
WHAT TIME IS IT????
If you don’t find yourself screaming this when you get here, even just in your head, then you’re in the wrong place.
But after a nice drive through Amish Country, the Cartoon Network Hotel is nice and visible right outside of Dutch Wonderland. Coming in, you see images of some of your favorite characters, right before Finn and Jake welcome you at the front.
Granted, it looks like I came off season- with fall and school just starting, Dutch Wonderland is only open on the weekends, and the hotel wasn’t exactly packed from what I can see. Which made for a good time for the indoor pool to be under renovation, so I sadly didn’t get to check that out. But hey, the outdoor pool was running just fine, although it was mostly empty, just myself and a family.
Tumblr media
I didn’t take any pictures of the pool, since I didn’t have my phone (but a couple of Ice King’s penguins are playing life guard duty, alongside a pretty cute girl), but I did snap a photo of the Powerpuff sprinklers! They look pretty cool, right?
But that’s jumping ahead. Anyway, as mentioned, today it didn’t seem so busy, so despite arriving a couple of hours before 4 PM check-in, I was able to get a room right away. It must have been busy enough that I didn’t get the Gumball room I asked for, but instead I got my second choice, Steven Universe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But I mean, look at this. I can’t complain. I was just thinking that I wanted the SU room instead, anyway.
The rooms are themed to one of six shows/franchises, the other four being Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, Adventure Time and We Bare Bears. The former two seem to be primarily inspired by their recent series however, not their classics, so your mileage will vary there. I asked a receptionist which show tends to be the most popular choice, and she says that it rotates. Apparently PPG does get picked often by those who grew up with it, which makes sense, although those aren’t my Powerpuff Girls.
So, some things of note- there are four exclusive channels to the Hotel. Gumball and Teen Titans Go get their own 24/7 channels, which seems redundant since they’re basically all CN shows anyway. But they also have a FanFavs channel, which shows various episodes from various series, and New Shows, which I’m not sure if it shows currently unaired episodes or not. I couldn’t get that one active for long, but I did see part of a Victor & Valentino episode. I did have FanFavs on a bit as background noise, and they seem to mostly show:
Adventure Time
Regular Show
Steven Universe
Ben 10 (2016)
Mao Mao
Thundercats Roar (seriously...)
It seems like they mostly rotate from those shows, but I’d like to believe there’s more. Griz is on the cover bar for it when you connect to wifi, and you’d think they’d also show at least the 2016 PPG show as well, as that’s all over the resort.
They also do showings of cartoons in the kitchen at 3 and 9 PM, as the kitchen is closed during those times. My flight was very early, so I missed the 9 showing, as well as the Summer Camp Island-inspired bonfire that happened before, but I caught the 3 o’clock cartoons. They played episodes of Craig of the Creek, Total Dramarama, Teen Titans Go, and Gumball. Pretty cool, although these are basically the only four shows the channel plays anyway, The intro they use for the screenings shows clips from classic Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and Scooby-Doo cartoons, but none of those were shown today. Maybe they’ll throw one in at another time? Probably not Scooby... or maybe just a movie, since they apparently play movies as well sometimes.
I didn’t stick around for most of the TDR cartoon though, as I was participating in the Craig of the Creek scavenger hunt. They hunt various CN characters around the lobby vicinity, and you try to find them in the right spot.
Tumblr media
This is what you get if you win- a COTC pin and a Hershey bar. But hey, you can’t argue with results, and this is about it for Craig merch.
The gift shop almost exclusively focuses on the six shows with featured rooms, and a lot of merch isn’t exclusive. I did get a couple of things though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The beach towel is based on the designs you see all over the hotel and has a couple of series not otherwise represented in terms of merch, like OK KO, Summer Camp Island, and the aforementioned COTC. Oh, and Clarence! Almost missed him in the bottom.
I got the stickers because there are more COTC characters, and again, the designs are nice. The SU pin was cool, and if there was a similar one for AT or Gumball, I would have got that as well. And I got the Anais keychain because Gumball merch is strangely rare despite its popularity, especially for her. There were also some pencils, notebooks, a couple of T-shirts and a hoodie. I almost got some pencils.
There’s also an arcade and an activity center, but those do seem mostly for kids, plus you have to pay for most of the crafts. I think the coloring is free at least, and there are a couple of nods to classic shows I found that I’ll share on another post.
Just as there are some nods to classics around the place, primarily the elevator and kitchen, but the people who want to see Dexter and Johnny and the Eds aren’t the target audience for this resort. Which is unfortunate, but the thing is, besides the fact that we’re getting old and today’s kids need their own shows, Cartoon Network has become a big deal internationally over the past decade, moreso than during their supposed heyday in the late 90′s-early 00′s. The six shows featured aren’t just picked for being the most popular, they’re all big draws overseas. We Bare Bears sells a LOT of merch in Asia and parts of Europe, even if it doesn’t seem that big of a draw stateside. Hopefully they can make this a tourist spot.
That said, I do hope that they consistently update things in the years to come. Part of the problem with the Nickelodeon Hotel over in Orlando was how stuck it was in the mid-2000′s. Sure, SpongeBob has remained a big draw over the years since, but when I visited the place around 2010 (didn’t stay, but took a tour), it was apparent that if your kids weren’t big fans of Rugrats or Jimmy Neutron, and they probably weren’t around that place until its last days, there wasn’t much reason to stay over.
I do think that Craig deserves his own themed room, and it may be time to swap out Powerpuff for it. Let’s admit that the 2016 reboot was a failure and move on. Or maybe just double down and replace the reboot designs with their classic look.
But hey, my final thoughts on the Cartoon Network Hotel? I had a lot of fun, and got the best sleep I had in ages. I’m not sure if I’d go again, though. At least unless it changes things up a little. Part of the thing is that this is really for the kids who love today’s new shows. And I do really love three of the six shows heavily featured here- four if you count the original Powerpuff. But I’m just not the right age for this place.
If you love any of these shows and/or Cartoon Network’s brand as a whole, I recommend checking this place out, but only if you’re near the area. Don’t make it a pilgrimage. Unless you have enough friends to make grouping up on the Steven Universe Dream Suite worth it.

That said, look at these Bear macrons. So damn cute, and tasty, too!

Inanimate insanity headcannons B•]
MePhone4 and MePad both think of each other as a older sibling
People call oj fruity a lot and he thinks they mean literally because he’s made from fruit
Okay so ya know the tank man series? Anyway yinyang loves the titanic lol I’ll let you put the pieces together
Fan found the experiment 21 fanfic online and wouldn’t trust test tube for a few weeks
A vary common one but lightbulb is trans
Fan writes lemon fanficion
Trophy is homophobic, transphobic, ableist, sexist and supports toxic masculinity. BUT is secretly gay, trans, and autistic.
MePad plays music for Mephone when he can’t sleep
As humans, both yin and yang would have vitiligo when together and separated it just affects yin to the point he’s almost completely pale and yang has a minor case.
Not really a headcannon but a response to a common headcannon. Y’all say fan is a weeb but he seems more like a fandom kid
Fan is autistic. So is lightbulb. Bc I’m autistic and I kin them
MePhone trying to reset himself is a metaphor for s*icide
Test tube, fan, lightbulb, and paintbrush are in a poly relationship. I’m not exactly an expert on polyamory vocabulary but it’s a triad but with four ppl
Inspired by experiment 21 but fan understands what non-binary is and wouldn’t have a problem with paintbrush being enby and be really respectful of their pronouns but doesn’t know they are
Paintbrush has a really long list of neopronouns and it’s pure gender euphoria when you use them for them
Test tubes liquid is acidic
Knife has a spiked collar but doesn’t wear it because trophy is an asshole and makes really tasteless emo jokes like “wrist reveal” and it makes him uncomfortable because he was depressed as a kid. (Whoa that went deeper then I intended when I started writing that)
Pepper is gay for salt but doesn’t tell her because she knows he has a crush on oj
Knife has sharp canine teeth
Apple is nuerodivgent in some way. I don’t have enough knowledge to say what one but yea
MePhone lacks empathy because hes functionality an android— oh fuck the irony. I’m saying that’s he’s like a robot
The reason I kin so many of the characters is actually bc the entire series was made for me /j
Trophy would cry if you called him cringe
Trophy is on of the boyz on TikTok
Trophy plays fortnite (this ones not actually trophy slander. My cousin plays fortnite so i actually like and support the game he just seems like he would)
Trophy says he goes by nor/mal so fan and paintbrush actually call him by those pronouns then he gets mad at them
Microphone likes rock music lol
Yin watches Steven universe and mlp while yang sleeps but yang woke up while yin was watching a dark episode of Steven universe so now they watch it together
I was going to say fan has tumblr but then I remember he canonically does— well 90% sure I saw it on the wiki but I can’t confirm if it’s official— too lazy to check.
Soap is ace
Annnnnd that’s it! Some more sexuality headcannons but unless you want me to tell you everyone is fruity that doesn’t matter lol.
