Pearl Clan Settlement NPCs (Names and Dialogue)
Ended up making this because I couldn't figure out where to find this information (if it's anywhere). Was looking for this info because of something I was working on. Will make something like this for Diamond Clan too. Keep in mind that this is post game as well, so the dialogue isn't necessarily the same as it is in the beginning of the game.
Note: some NPCs have dialogue that floats above their head when you get near them, this is different from what they say when you talk to them, this dialogue will be written like this [example]. {this is for anything else of note}
NPCs:
Dominia: "Now that we've celebrated together with the Diamond Clan and Galaxy Team, I hope we can stay united in face of any future challenges." [Coming all the way out here to visit us in our cold home?] {Gives Request The Bergmite Enthusiast}
Trio of kids:
Nomo: "If we wanna grow stuff on our own fields like the Galaxy people, we'll need help from Pokemon!" [All this space around me is my space! mine!]
Nimio: "Do fire Pokemon and ice Pokemon like each other?" [Well my space is bigger, so there!]
Asty: "I'm gonna go look for the world's end together with my Pokemon!" [Let almighty Sinnoh pick who's got the biggest space!]
Hectar: "As long as the descendants of the noble Pokemon live among us, that means we still have almighty Sinnoh's divine protection."
Vallis: "So almighty sin-err... I mean Palkia and Dialga weren't the Pokemon that created Hisui after all." {Seems to be doing with the tent peg of House 1}
Colleum: "Palkia, once created, brought forth the many dimensions. All things-alive or not alive- arrive at the same space. Such as the blessing of Palkia."
Ambit: "I wonder... Where did Ingo come from?" [Close: Any meeting in this vast world is something to be grateful for.] [Far away: That's certainly true]
Fora: "If only we could grow to understand the wild Pokemon of Hisui. Then we could roam the entire region without fear." [Close: Do you really have Pokemon in those little contraptions?][Far away: Irida is certainly giving it her all...]
Meto: "I wonder if any of the Galaxy Team's clever tools can help us to starve off the cold." [Almighty Sinnoh... What lies beyond the rift?]
Comi: "Just how long does an Avalugg have to live to reach that colossal size?"
House 1:
Urb: "The team of builders in the Galaxy Team... the construction corps, was it? I'd love for them to build me a house."
Leuca: "We'll protect our homes with our own power. If we have Pokemon by our side, all the better."
Platea {old woman}: "It's true Irida never had playmates, but she always had Glaceon by her side."
House 2:
Rema: "That girl Coin from the Miss Fortune sisters... I guess she just has her own unique way of trying to find where she belongs."
Fons: "I wonder what Volo from the Gingko Guild is up to these days?"
Vicus: "I wonder if Irida's horizons have broadened after meeting you and that Adaman lad from the Diamond Clan."
House 3:
Mona: "So time and space were controlled by two different Pokemon..."
{there's a Machop in this house!}
House 4:
Lati: "I'm glad Irida is our clan leader. Without her guidance, we would never have joined forces with you or the Diamond Clan to challenge the power of almighty Sinnoh!"
Mille: "Perhaps the time has come for the Pearl Clan to change as well"
{There's a Bergmite in this house!}
House 5:
Inman: "Snow goggles protext your eyes from the light reflected off the snow!"
{There's a Gligar in this house!}
Next to Swinub and Piloswine hanging at the hot spring next to the settlement:
Toparch: "I wonder if there was some deep meaning as to why our ancestors met almighty Sinnoh here."
Humi: "The potato mochi from the festival were super tasty!" [far away: I oughta make a totally white trap so it blends in perfectly here!][Close: Wh-what? What do you want? I'm not making any traps...] {he's looking at the Swinub and Piloswine while thinking this}
Speculation on the Pearl Clan Settlement NPCs:
Asty (adventurous), Nomo (wants to be a farmer) Rema (old friend of Coin), Fons (thinks Volo is a friend), Colleum (big Palkia fan), Meto (doesn't like the cold), Humi (big mochi fan, wants to trap a Swinub For it's fur maybe?)

Note
This would not be her first night staying in the Gerudo Fortress, but she had certainly gotten more comfortable being here. Nabooru had offered to harbor her on more than one occasion at this point, enough that she was nearly accustomed to the fortress and the Gerudo Sage’s space. From the spot where Zelda stood, she peered out the window, looking out over the desert before back to the room, the smaller details becoming more noticeable each time as she became more familiar. “Thank you, Nabooru, for allowing me to stay here once more.” A soft smile. “What was it like growing up in the desert?” She couldn’t help but to be curious, knowing the climate and way of life was much different than that of Hyrule.
It was no easy feat to convince her countrywomen to allow Zelda to walk among them at first. A common complaint about their former king had been how much time he spent in Hyrule - anti-hyrulean sentiments had cooled since he was deposed, but many were still suspicious of their neighbors. Visiting without guard helped her case, as well as Nabooru reminding disgruntled citizens that they owed reparation, and allowing the queen to visit meant she could remain with them. She deeply appreciated the latter. Nabooru never spent much time in Hyrule, and beyond the general homesickness she felt, she'd discovered she was allergic to damn near everything in the country. Nabooru's room was spare, especially compared to her sisters. She had a woven rug spread out next to her cot, which was carved from the stone itself with a woolen mattress beneath it. The rug as well as the blanket on the cot were woven with sun motifs, and followed the rest of the room in warm orange and yellow tones. Against the wall facing the windows were two desks, or rather, one desk and one table with scrolls piled taller than Nabooru on top of it. She seemed to be able to find what she was looking for, but she was alone in that measure. The other desk was neater, with a small hand mirror and Nabooru's makeup tabs squared in the corner. Next to it were a travel notebook, a hairbrush, a devotional book of hymns, and a small metal tin with Hylian script on the side. Nabooru opened the box when she stepped beside the queen, spooning two lumps of dried green tea leaves into two ceramic mugs. "Don't worry about it," she replied, closing the box and continuing the quiet ritual of making tea for company. "Makes things easier on me anyway. It's a bear trying to leave right now - the horses just started foaling and the sheep are still lambing." It took her a minute to respond to the question, swirling the leaves in her cup thoughtfully. "You'd get a different answer from anybody else here. My mother made me a temple attendant the second I could memorize lines." She drank a bit, offering the other to her companion. "A lot of it depends on what your mother does. Smiths' daughters learn the trade, along with herders, and so on. We look forward to festivals, we play games, we watch out for cliff lions. The usual." "I'd imagine the differences start when basic training does. All able-bodied Gerudo children go through two years of military training when they're fourteen. It's self-defense, combat tactics, wilderness survival... What you need to learn to live here." She turned to look out the window, the sun setting the horizon ablaze in pinks and orange hues that put her room to shame. She smiled to herself fondly. "I wouldn't give it away for anything."

Let's Talk About NatsuMikan: Natsume (pt. 5)
I'm back on my bullshit. I decided I'd post these, once a day, four days a week. Then I'll go on breaks for the weekend to let interested readers catch up while also further writing more entries. At the time I'm posting this, for example, I'm in the process of analyzing Chapter 39. That way, it's easier for everyone to enjoy this essay. Which I hope people do.
Anyway, this can finally truly be called a ship essay, because one of our key players has FINALLY developed feelings! Going forward, Natsume's behavior will heavily feature his growing affections for Mikan. We'll be analyzing Natsume's self-preserving hesitation as well as his immediate instinct to give up any chance he has from the get-go.
Tumblr media
Chapter Seventeen
Natsume next shows up to walk into Class B during a commotion of Mikan’s retelling of the Reo incident. The kids all gather around him now too to ask questions and press about his condition. One kid even asks if he should teach Mikan a lesson for bragging about his rescue. Mikan smiles at him, under the assumption that their shared trauma has brought them closer and maybe even made them friends, but Natsume’s response is to simply turn away and ignore her.
He’s still Natsume after all. This is the first girl he’s ever liked, and she used to be somebody he despised, so the change in feelings is probably very strange to him. He’s confused and possibly embarrassed. He doesn’t know what to say or how to act.
Tumblr media
Can't have her getting any ideas that he's completely changed his mind about her or anything.
Most of the people that Natsume likes at the school (although that is just Ruka and Youichi… so… you know) know that he likes them. He spends time with them, is gentle with them, does things for them, and can openly say kind things to and about them. Mikan is different. He used to be her number one enemy, so all of a sudden switching gears and becoming her friend would be quite odd.
Over time, Natsume will find ways to be gentle and sweet to Mikan, but for now his crush is brand new and he doesn’t know how to act quite yet. He’d rather avoid her entirely, or pretend like nothing happened, than openly approach his new feelings.
Furthermore his behavior is always and under all circumstances inseparable from his status as Persona’s favorite and as the Black Cat. He may have some loved ones, but he keeps the number low and tries to avoid getting close to people for a reason. Naturally, nobody could ever really understand his experiences so there will always be a divide between him and the rest of his peers, but even more than that is that considering people precious turns them into targets.
Natsume has probably learned the hard way that displaying closeness and affection for his friends can have dangerous effects, so he might now think of showing that kind of affection as selfish or even cruel. Why subject somebody to something like that, merely because he has feelings for them? It’s not fair.
In either case, it’s really not that Natsume is naturally mean and cold. He just doesn’t trust his situation enough to properly act. It’s safer in every way to just pretend like nothing changed. It’s too much to deal with otherwise. But sooner rather than later, the hard thing will be staying away. Eventually, maintaining coldness with her will be almost impossible.
Chapter Eighteen
This chapter further touches on Natsume’s new-found crush and its consequences.
Class B is used to being in an environment where Natsume hates Mikan and is bothered by everything she does. He gives in to her slightly, in small ways, and it shocks his classmates. Now, it’s understandable that, even if he hadn’t developed a crush on her, he might still be softer to a girl who risked her life to save him, but it’s still odd.
Mikan recalls asking Natsume for help training her alice. She needs an offensive alice to nullify, so Iinchou or Hotaru’s would be ineffectual in training. Natsume is really the best person to ask, and, to everyone’s surprise, he actually agrees to help.
Tumblr media
Natsume doesn't need any convincing to help her, but what did she think practicing with a fire alice would entail?
And yes it does seem like he’s only doing it to torture her, because his alice is capable of genuine bodily harm and his admirers snicker with amusement at his antics, but I can’t help but assume there’s more to it.
He doesn’t really hesitate to help. He doesn’t need convincing at all. In some ways I think he did genuinely want to help. Her alice helped save his life, after all. Why not repay the favor by using his alice to help her train? To him, there's a lot of value in her alice, so training it is beneficial in his perspective as well.
And later still, Mikan spots Natsume sitting amongst the principal students. He stands out, as an elementary student next to upperclassmen. This moment is a good introduction to the arc. His crush on Mikan only grows stronger as the festival goes on, but there’s something looming over him too--he’s different from the rest of them. He stands out so much during the festival. He’s a dangerous ability type who’s not allowed to participate while also being a principal who has to sit on the stage for the opening ceremony. That's horribly ironic, but also shows just how singled out and under the spotlight he is. It’s a huge part of why he acts the way he does, so cold and mean and distant despite his growing affections. It’s all he can do.
He may see potential for a future, but he’d be foolish to think he should be able to acquire it, because his current circumstances have not changed at all.
The chapter ends with Natsume being asked by Koko if he wants to try out the special ability class event. He’s looking towards the special ability area, and we can tell the next chapter will be fun.
Chapter Nineteen
And how!
Natsume is here to see Ruka, his best friend, but he’s also here to catch a glimpse of the girl he has a crush on.
Sumire is also there, and it’s interesting to see that Natsume hasn’t changed in his attitude around her either, even though she also helped save him. She tries to embrace him and he dodges her.
This catches some people’s attention and they start to whisper about his presence.
In the anime, this moment is a bit more potent, hearing the murmurs and seeing a darkness over the gossiping kids, but the manga still establishes that the people waiting in line are by-and-large unhappy to see him. They whisper amongst themselves, rudely asking why he’d bother to come here, but that gloom only lasts for a moment (one singular panel and then Natsume’s responding bitterness) before Mikan appears jumping over the wall, calling his name and even smiling.
It’s almost like she was waiting for him to show up, running off from her post the second she heard Natsume was there. The dark looming screentones are replaced with flowery ones, and it’s hard not to think of this as his perspective: all is gloomy and then there is Mikan. All of a sudden, after hating her for so long, he thinks of her as bright sunshine, and he must have showed up just to see her and feel nice for a change.
Tumblr media
It's Natsume seeing Mikan through floral-filter lenses for me...
Of course, he ruins the mood. It feels almost as if he does it solely because he knows it will upset her. She was so excited to see him, and he manages to completely turn her mood from eager to angry, just the opposite of how she was able to unwittingly turn his mood from gloomy to... as close to content as he can get.
He’s okay now. He doesn’t want her getting any ideas.
Now, in my opinion, his method of bothering her could be anything and the plot would remain the same. What matters is that he wants to piss her off, and this just so happens to be the way he does it, partially because it’s intended to be funny. Mikan has to get angry at him for this chapter to progress the way it does, but his actions could have been replaced by any other irritating action and it could’ve gone the same way.
Tsubasa then appears, drawn to the sound of a loud commotion. He sees Natsume and vaguely wonders why he’s there. Everyone knows Natsume, at all grade levels, because he’s famous. For Tsubasa, whose only real knowledge of Mikan’s relationship with the kid is that he causes trouble in Class B, it would be strange to see him at the RPG.
Natsume, meanwhile, has no idea who Tsubasa is. Seeing Mikan crawl all over her senpai, seeing him easily comfort her, is something that bugs Natsume. He glares at Tsubasa, somebody whose name he doesn’t even know, and then starts leaving with Ruka.
At first, Tsubasa is confused to be treated like this, until he hugs Mikan tighter and sees both Natsume and Ruka turn in jealousy. Tsubasa gets it immediately. Thus begins a strange and tumultuous frenemy relationship between Tsubasa and Natsume, where they both begrudgingly understand each other while also irritating each other beyond belief.
Natsume is not interested in playing the game, insulting it and wondering how anyone could get hooked on it. Ultimately, it’s not even Mikan who convinces him to give it a shot; it’s Tsubasa taunting him, “then you should be able to win, no problem, right?”
Tsubasa will come to regret saying this, because the answer is yes.
The RPG is designed to be tough. Nobody has won the whole game yet. Beating one or two students is one thing, but being able to outsmart or outmaneuver the entire special ability class is a difficult feat.
Natsume agrees to play, and gets a robot cockroach as a weapon.
Tsubasa is hugging Mikan as Natsume is about to enter, and that pisses him off even more. He decides that Tsubasa will be his slave, his motive being get your hands off her. This is silly considering that just a short time ago, Natsume hated Mikan. His feelings really did a 180.
The challenges pick up in difficulty as he goes on. The first one is effortless. He doesn’t even move from where he’s standing. The mirror-alice girl just freaks out about the cockroach and sends him on his way after two seconds.
The next one is trickier, and Natsume will need to put in more effort than just standing and waiting for the cockroach to do its job. But not that much effort. He sits next to Megane, lights a fire, and waits. It’s a scorching flame, and although Megane tries to tough it out, he gives in with two seconds to spare. Natsume, a smartass, quips sarcastically that he’s sorry--he really can’t tell how hot it is. (This is not actually important or anything, it’s just interesting that Natsume is not affected by his own flames and can’t feel the heat of them. I might end up referring to this a couple times.)
With the exception of the first and last challenges, Natsume uses his alice to beat the maze; either by heating Megane up so his soul goes back into his body, or by writing with fire instead of chalk. The next challenge is the one Natsume has been waiting for and he’ll use his alice here too.
Tsubasa is shocked to find Natsume has progressed so quickly, but he proceeds with the challenge: Natsume has to touch him in thirty seconds, but it’ll be tricky ‘cause he’s held in place by his shadows. He toys with Natsume’s shadows a bit, which really pisses Natsume off. Tsubasa even apologizes nervously, even though he’s the one in control. Or he is, until Natsume uses his alice again and gets rid of the shadows.
Natsume’s anger towards Tsubasa all stems from jealousy. It’s not just that Tsubasa was hugging and comforting Mikan, it’s that he can. Natsume needs to distance himself from Mikan in order to keep her safe, and he’s aware of that right from the start, but there’s more to it. He’s busy establishing himself as an enemy to Mikan, doing things to bother her to make her angry with him, but nobody rushes to their bully for comfort, and Natsume knows this. It’s not just that Tsubasa was hugging Mikan; it’s that he feels like he will never get the chance.
And so the next and final challenge is where he gets to be selfish.
Mikan is aggravated to see him, obviously not thrilled that he was able to make it in such a short time. Her task is that he has to get her off the carpet in thirty seconds. He can’t hurt her or force her off the carpet, and because of their alice training together, he can’t use his alice on her either. (They’d apparently practiced so much that she was able to sharpen her skills significantly. Before, her alice was a wildcard and she struggled with using it, but now she’s able to use it with relative ease. That’s a lot of training in a short time, and I’m sure Natsume wasn’t upset at all the time they had to spend together as a result.)
Natsume must feel relief regarding Mikan's nullification alice. She's nullified his alice in pretty big ways already, one time to save his life. The girl he's crushing on is capable of turning off the thing that decreases his lifespan. She really is a breath of fresh air, in more ways than one, and his appreciation for her alice, even if he doesn't voice it, will only grow. This is important, but I'll talk way more about this in the other POV.
He tries the cockroach, but she’s a country girl and unaffected.
Natsume is genuinely stumped by her challenge, admitting to himself that it’s a tough one. He then comes up with a risky idea, no doubt influenced by her rescue of him when they were kidnapped by Reo. He plays sick. This act only works if Mikan falls for it and is concerned enough to jump off the carpet, but he’s a good actor on account of all the sick experience he has and she does fall for it in no time. Her being concerned was a given.
She jumps off, meaning he’s won the game, but that’s not enough of a victory for him. He acts sick until she’s closer, so he can grab her and put his arm around her. Yes, he calls her an idiot, but this is the closest he can get to a hug… for now. It doesn’t matter that she’s annoyed and dismayed that he won. All he cares about is that he got to touch her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She jumped down. He won already, but it's not enough! (Also sorry about two pictures. If it ruins the format, oh well.)
Natsume was jealous that Tsubasa got to do something he thinks he'll never be able to, and so he got a taste of what he wanted some other, convoluted way. He gets angry that Tsubasa is so touchy, but that's only because he wishes he could be touchy too. Natsume will get bolder and bolder with his physical affection, because he will want more and more to show it. When he starts being honest about this affection, she will be more eager to return it.
Natsume is the first winner, and Tsubasa admits it was never expected for somebody to be able to pass all the challenges. Part of the appeal is that it’s an unbeatable game, but Natsume’s feelings of jealousy and spite were enough to get him over the finish line. Though perhaps knowing it's beatable but only one person could is also appealing. It's possible to pass, but very rare for somebody to be able to, so they can draw in crowds by capitalizing on kids who want to the next person to beat the game.
He gets to choose a lamp, but he has no idea which one is whose. He cheats by asking Koko to tell him which one is the right one, but he ends up picking Mikan’s, because Koko assumed that’s the one he wanted. After all--Natsume was thinking about her. Natsume is lucky that Mikan was too anguished at being a slave to care about Natsume thinking about her, but it’s interesting to know that even when he’s supposed to be angry at Tsubasa, he was only thinking of Mikan.
Chapter Twenty
This chapter’s premise is pretty simple and light: Natsume can’t think of any use for Mikan other than to follow him and Ruka around the festival and carry their stuff. They navigate the technical ability class area and even encounter Hotaru, though only for a short time because she’s quite busy.
Most importantly, their time in the technical area makes Mikan insecure. Everyone in the tech class seems to know what they want to do with their lives, with their alices being perfect for research or creation. I’ll go into more detail with this during Mikan’s essay, but it’s important to note that Mikan asks the people around her if they’re prepared for their future only to see that they all are. Hotaru, Sumire, and even Ruka all have dreams for the future, even if Ruka won’t share his. Natsume has decided to leave the conversation and we don’t hear what his dream is, which makes sense because he doesn’t have one. Natsume doesn’t think he’ll live long enough to graduate, so why even bother wasting his own time and getting his hopes up for something unattainable?
It’s then revealed that Ruka is also a triple, and Mikan can’t tell, but the mood has been soured for Ruka. His triple-star status is a touchy subject that he’s unhappy with. His star rank is representative of Natsume’s suffering and he doesn’t like talking about it. He only says that he didn’t mention it because he didn’t get it on his own talent or effort before Natsume forces Mikan to walk in another direction, claiming to be hungry.
Tumblr media
This is literally just a scan of the TokyoPop version, which is better than the other version I see floating around.
He can tell Ruka is uncomfortable and is ready to step in so that his friend can feel better.
As a result, they end up at the cafe where Anna is working (after all, Mikan has been perfecting her puppy-dog eyes routine and I think both Ruka and Natsume are affected, even if the latter would never admit it).
Natsume takes the first bite of Anna’s hell pie, just to see a rot demon (or whatever that thing is) taunt him about the trouble his stomach will be in soon. He really doesn’t have a choice but to throw the tea over the pie. Ruka is grateful, but Mikan is outraged at how rude Natsume is acting, and even angrier when Natsume explains that the pie was horrible. She demands he apologize but Natsume simply walks away, content to be the bad guy because he saved his friends from getting food poisoning while also sparing Anna’s feelings and reputation at her cafe.
Tumblr media
"Your stomach will writhe" is such a potent threat. I feel sick just looking at that demon/scoundrel/rot thing.
This scene has more substance than in the anime. In the episode, Natsume sees the rotten scoundrel (or WHATEVER IT IS) before he can take a bite. He tosses the tea for all their sakes and ultimately nobody is hurt. But here, in the manga, Natsume has already taken a bite. We see the missing part of the pie, the residue on the fork. Natsume is already screwed. He's going to have food poisoning from Anna's pie, and he still puts her feelings before his own. He'd rather say that the pie is terrible according to his own tastes than to let everyone around know that she made such a health-risking mistake. He drenches the pie so that Mikan and Ruka don't get food poisoning, even if it's too late for him. Natsume leaves, knowing he will look like an asshole, AND with stomach problems on top of that, but at least he's the only one who will be seriously hurt.
This is a pretty insignificant example of a trait that we have seen before with Natsume but haven't really fully explored. It's going to play a major role for the rest of the manga, because Natsume has something of a martyr complex, where he is quick to sacrifice himself because he sees little to no value in his own happiness. This is a small example, and I'm not saying it's not kind of him, but there are consequences with his line of thinking. He's fine with looking like an asshole to protect people, or giving up things he wants so someone else can have it, or blowing himself up so two girls can escape safely. Whenever there's a chance to sacrifice himself, Natsume will take it every single time.
This may seem noble or romantic or admirable but it's not healthy at all. The way he was raised (no shade to Papa Hyuuga and Kaoru but also.... tentatively side-eyeing them for putting so much responsibility on him) and the way he is now tortured by the school has put him in a position where his self esteem is horribly low. This complex of his results in suicidal tendencies, even after he falls in love with Mikan (and even exacerbated by that love). For Natsume, love is sacrifice. He simply cannot love without feeling like he has to give something up. Ideally, he would grow out of this and maybe start seriously choosing himself sometimes. It's not evil to want yourself to be happy and to choose your own well-being, even if it occasionally makes others sad or upset.
In the context of the actual story though, we have yet another glimpse of a complex that will cause a LOT of trouble down the road for Natsume and Mikan.
Conclusion
Natsume has new feelings for Mikan and is having trouble navigating them. They will cause even more trouble in the next essay. We also touched more on Natsume's self-sacrificing tendencies and how devastating they will turn out to be. These tendencies will be consistent and persistent throughout the manga in regards to NatsuMikan's relationship, and cause more problems. These problems will pop up a bit in the next part, so stay tuned!
Also, small note: I call him Ruka and not Luca because I got used to it after watching the anime and through scans and fanfics. I heard his name pronounced that way and at first thought it was a Japanese name so I simply copied the pronunciation. When I found out it was supposed to be Luca, I'd already been using Ruka for a while. I don't really want to switch to using Luca most of the time because I know people in real life named Luca/Luka and I talk enough about GA on the daily where it might feel strange to me. I use Luca sometimes when I'm talking to others who prefer it, but Ruka is what I'm used to. I hope this isn't frustrating, but understand that I pronounce Killua's name (from HxH) like "Ki-ru-a" as well and in my head "Gakuen Alice" is pronounced "Gakuen Arisu" because I pronounce things based on what I hear when watching the anime ;-; These are things I have no real desire to change because they sound right to me. I'm sorry. (Nobody has said anything or complained, and this is not a vague or anything like that! I just wanted to say that I know it's supposed to be Luca and it's not my intention to be disrespectful when I pronounce/spell it Ruka. I am fucking crazy, but I am free.)

Meant To Be || One For Every Billion
8. Fan Behaviour
Your impromptu group has slowly made way through the long street of vendors over the last hour, sampling different treats and picking up small trinkets and mementos of the festival.
It's been pretty exhilarating not only with the exuberant energy of the younger girls with whom Akari somehow seems to blend right into, but also the odd tension between you and Suna. He's mostly stayed by your side as you stroll behind the others, his watchful eye on his sister and her friends but you've also caught his discerning stare aimed your way many times as well.
In as little as sixty minutes, that's quite a lot of time to make eye contact with a silent and seemingly immovable companion for the night. You don't let his demeanor throw you off, however, and continue on, immovable in your own way. Which means you say what comes to mind but don't follow the urge to stumble or yammer to fill any quiet gaps in conversation.
Somehow, it works and instead of being awkward and uncomfortable, you find myself at an odd peace, even with the feeling in the air as if you're at a precipice.
You haven't felt this level of comfort and familiarity with someone since... well, since Toru, you suppose. At the thought, a prickle rushes over your skin but you shouldn't have anything to feel bad about. You're in no way committed to anyone and you're sure nothing will happen here, regardless.
"Sorry," You look over at Suna's quiet intervention to your thoughts, "I don't have a jacket on me."
You raise an eyebrow before realizing you must have shivered outwardly at your last thought, hm, you really are letting your guard down to have let a physical reaction slip through. And he really is as perceptive as you first thought to have noticed that small movement.
Looking over at his own simple yukata that suits him incredibly well, you feel the corner of your lip lift before replying, "No, but it's so worth it."
He flicks another one of those sideways looks at you, chin lifted slightly and face angled so you can't read too much of it, "Yeah? Like what you see?"
"Oh yeah." You bite down on your lip to stop your smile from breaking into a flirty grin. You really cannot stress how incredible attractive his laid back confidence is to you.
A small smile of his own breaks through and you catch it before he turns his face away to the stalls on his right. When he looks back, it's gone as if it never happened but there's a look in his eyes that makes you feel almost breathless.
You think you actually do lose your breath when he smirks and casually adds, "Me too."
"Y/n-chan! Rin-onii!" You don't get a chance to respond as Rika bounces back to you both, "We're at the end, but Akari-chan found us a perfect place for the best view for the fireworks!"
"Then lead on, brat." Suna huffs out in mock annoyance. Yeah, you've been getting slightly better at reading him over the past hour. It's a gift.
The two of you follow behind them again, heading towards one of the bridges over the river beyond the street you were just on. There are glowing paper lanterns floating in the water below, lazily passing underneath and by in groups across the length of the bridge. Strung up above you all and reflecting in the dark water are similar lanterns, casting a warm glow over your group's chosen little corner with only a few people some distance away from you all.
Even if the view of the fireworks isn't all that great from here, which you're not sure about since you don't know quite where they've been set up, this ambience is enough to make this a perfect place to rest. Suna leans his back against the railing, right beside where you've chosen to lean forward facing the other way, with your forearms resting on the wrought iron as you survey the lanterns that are carried away.
"Do you game?"
You jerk your head up at his random question, looking up at him where he's got his classic side gaze trained on you. Hm, maybe not so random as probing. You answer just as succinctly as he asked his question, "I do."
"Okay." Another smile tugs at his mouth, you're sure he knows you're being stubborn. "Your voice..."
He's baiting you but what exquisite temptation, you can't help but ask, "What about it?"
"It sounds so..." He trails off, as if lost in thought but you think he's just torturing you for your sass earlier.
You're usually patient, you swear, but.. "Suna." but, you're starting to think his patience might just outweigh yours.
"Familiar." His eyes meet yours again as soon as the word leaves his lips and you're called back to the moments you were thinking that being around him felt familiar too.
But that's not what he means is it? You wait for him to speak again and when he does, even though you're expecting his next implication, you're somehow still both surprised and flattered, "I really like your channel."
"You watch GameOverGirls?" Yeah, that's literal disbelief in your voice. You know you and Vee have a lot of followers on the channel the two of you started back in the fall, especially thanks to both your fans from other clubs and activities, but here in Japan? At least any family you have hear that know about it would make sense, they know you from the first degree. But how would Suna Rintaro have found you already?
He shrugs casually, expression unreadable when he answers, "I like your voice. And you actually know what you're talking about." Then, with a smirk, "The streams aren't too bad either."
You don't even know where to start. The audacity of this pretty boy. Now you're flattered, flustered, and somehow offended at the same time. "When did you figure it out?"
"Just now."
"Seriously?"
"I couldn't place it at first. But then I just did."
"Huh."
"Pretty sure this is where you say thank you."
"For what? Entertaining you?" You pretend to yawn with a hand to your lips and a roll of your eyes, "Talk about fan behaviour."
He tilts his head back fully to study the sky, "Guess I can't deny it, huh?"
With a laugh, you mirror his stance, turning around to lean back against the railing and tilting your head up to survey the stars. After a pause, you give him an opening, "Unless you think you can do better?"
"Well, I could have cut some serious time on that run through of Sekiro. And yeah, I'd be the one carrying you through Warzone." He pretends to grimace and you smack his arm in retaliation.
"Please, squad up and let's see who carries who."
"Okay, bet."
You're about to turn to look over at him to see if he's serious or not about his offer to join your party sometime when something streaks over the sky. You've been expecting the fireworks but when you realize what it is, you suddenly reach out to his arm with one hand and point with the other, excitedly exclaiming, "Oh my god, Suna, a shooting star! Make wish, quick!"
Then you're watching its briefly brilliant light slowly disappear, scrambling to think of your own wish without realizing you're already making one by wishing that you could enjoy more moments like this. It takes you a little bit to realize you're still lightly holding Suna's wrist and he hasn't said anything.
After another beat, once the star has completely disappeared, your eyes slip back over to meet his only to realize he's already been watching you. You're compelled to break the building tension and choose to ask, "Did you make a wish?"
The serious, piercing look in his eyes holds you in a trance as he replies, "I did."
Light blooms across his face just as he answers, sharp, bright bursts accompanied by loud booms and pops, but you can't tear your gaze away from his own immovable, captivating gaze. It's better this way, the reflection in his eyes as they echo the light cast by the fireworks.
So the two of you stand there watching each other instead of the fireworks, surrounding by the cheering of your group leaning on the railing across from you both, conveniently facing away from you to give the illusion of a private moment. One that belongs just to you and Suna.
x-x-x-x-x
The rest of the night flies by quick as you and Suna are pulled to rejoin the rest of the group shortly after your interesting moment together. You don't know what it means but what you are sure of is that you'll be replaying it over and over in your head later, unable to stop from analyzing such a poignant moment with a guy that was a complete stranger to you just hours before.
Neither of you really have the chance to explore it further either, as you're both pulled this way and that by the others for the rest of the activities. No more breathtaking moments relatively alone together, but you don't mind too much, you have to think it over after all and need a minute to catch your breath in the meantime.
Everyone writes down hopes and wishes on paper lanterns before setting them afloat to join the hundreds of other dreams that float away hopefully to a benign deity. Your group then stops at the shrine, placed at the apex of the location, to offer your respective prayers before returning to loop around to any stalls you missed.
As you're all winding down for the night, Rika asks for your socials and you happily oblige. Suna, on the other hand, manages to slip your phone out of his sister's hand as the two of you are exchanging the devices back and taps at it briefly before handing it back to you. You smirk and mouth 'fan behaviour' when you see he's added his contact info, including his twitter handle.
He just raises an unbothered eyebrow and replies out loud, "Just wait until it's you asking for my autograph. You'll thank me then."
"I won't need to thank you if you're my friend."
"But you'll still need my autograph?" He smirks at you.
You can't help but tease about something you both had discussed earlier, "Didn't you tell me you were scouted to go to school here? I'm sure I'll be wanting your name on a paper someday."
"You'll want my name, huh? At least buy me dinner first."
You blush as you realize how he twisted your words and, for once, you don't have a comeback. So you make a reckless, last ditch effort to act like he didn't just win this round and do the opposite of denying his words, "Sure, Suna Y/n has a nice ring, I guess."
Holy shit. You didn't think anything couldn't completely break his impassive expression but you think you might have accidentally have won this round as you see the shock roll his expression right before the red of a full blush sneaks up to kiss his cheeks and tips of his ears.
His surprised eyes are wide on yours as if he's frozen solid by your words before he blinks and then it's like a shutter as he recollects himself and suddenly he's completely unreadable again. But you saw it, that moment that Suna Rintaro was completely caught unaware and absolutely flustered.
You both know who won, though somehow, he still gets the last word, "Well, that's definitely one way to get a permanent autograph."
The two of you turn and start to move forward to the exit in mutual silence, neither you nor Suna noticing Rika still by you both, having watched your exchange in delighted surprise and gears now turning in her head as she realizes her half baked idea earlier seems to have worked even better than she could have ever imagined.

Behind The Scenes!
-Remember Vee's tweet back in the Falling Into Winter Interlude? Sept 18th (21-09-18 timestamp if you're curious) - she was promoting her and Y/n's gaming channel - GameOverGirls :)
-There was still another hint connection in regards to it back in the same episode
-One that may be one or two degrees of relation as to how Suna found the channel ;)
-He really does like Y/n's voice specifically (even though Vee's got a nice one too but he's barely noticed lol), long before he saw the pretty face to match :D
-Y/n and Vee only suffered through Sekiro on a bet from Key and Tee
-Suna realized it was crazy since he just met Y/n tonight but... he kind of liked how his name sounded with hers..
A/N: Seriously, why is everything about him so pretty??? His name, looks, voice. Just...why? Anyways, with this episode, I've caught up to where I'm currently at in written segments for this series so updates might be slightly slower than usual until I can pull back ahead. Additional notes - I don't know why but I'd mixed up the pic for Suna's priv with his main so ended up using the same one for both since it was too late by the time I realized. It'll be fixed from here on. Also, clearly, the yukata pic makes him look older but he's still 14, it's more about the visual of him in his simple (but striking) yukata <3 Finally... can we all guess which precious bby boy is next???

Husk
Directed by Brett Simmons
Released Jan. 28th, 2011
Scrolling through the tubi app, I found this movie called 'Husk'. It was labeled as a horror/thriller that, according to the plot synopsis, takes place in a corn field. Seeing as the Fall season is right around the corner, I couldn't pass up the chance to hopefully get into the spirit of it. I mean, after-all, What says Fall more than supernatural slayings from a scarecrow in a corn field, right? Sure, maybe it's warm cider, festive hay rides, pumpkin picking, and the crisp breeze brushing against your face as the leaves change color but, I digress. Either way, I was beyond excited to be thrust into the middle of a Mabon celebration. So, I threw on my favorite, and only, flannel shirt. I fashioned myself a mug of pumpkin spice hot chocolate and I plopped my scrawny butt down for an hour and twenty two minute shock fest.
Now, I like to give films a pre and post rating on a scale of one to ten. Pre-viewing my initial thoughts were that this movie was going to consist of a lot of bad acting, a weak plot, sub-par visual effects and some shakey camera work. I was not expecting anything special. A solid three out of ten. It's safe to say that I was going into this movie with very little to almost zero expectations but, at around the ten minute mark, my stock in the film started to rise immensely. The actors, mostly unknown to me, did a fantastic job at making themselves relatable and delivering their lines with believable conviction. The visual effects were stunning compared to my expectations. Plenty of blood and kill scenes that didn't leave anything to the imagination. The sound effects were also phenomenal. It was almost as if I could feel every slash and slam just from the sound effects alone. I am not sure about how big the budget was for this film but it definitely wasn't bare bones as I believe that the production value of this movie could hold its weight with other major theatrical releases. The plot started off strong but began to lose it's steam towards the end of the movie. I don't necessarily think I would say that the plot had holes in it but, in my opinion, it did leave a lot to be desired. That being said, I also chose to watch this movie mainly because I wanted to kick start the spooky season. Safe to say, mission accomplished. There is just something about being enveloped by a corn field and having killer scarecrows chasing after you that really speaks to my soul. This movie is action packed, fast paced (for the most part) and is an all around fun watch. The only problems I have with the film come from the plot not meeting my expectations. So, for my post rating, I'd have to give this film a solid seven out of ten.
I hope I was able to keep this review as spoiler free as possible. If you have seen this film before, let's start the conversation. What the heck happened to the plot? If you have not, I suggest you put this on your to be watched list for sure!

Tyr looks like an interesting young man. I'd like to suggest the prompt Home for him, please! And if that one doesn't grab you, how about what he likes doing with his friends in their free time?
((They have both grabbed me but this one got a little long, so here's "Home" for a start!))
Tyr sat on a bench in some park he didn't know, in some country he didn't know, turning a stone over in his hands.
Odin II lounged at his feet, his head resting on the bench seat beside his friend. It was too hot to be running around, but the sun was just right for napping. They sat in a comfortable silence, for a while, as they watched the trees wave in the wind, and distant joggers making their way around the lake.
Eventually, Tyr gave a quiet sigh, and looked down at the stone in his hands. It wasn't of Earth - it's polished surface a faintly translucent blue, with a blooming core of oxide brown, and streaks of pink and red throughout. It had been a birthday gift from a friend, just a few years ago (though it seemed so much more distant than that). Skoji had been beaming with pride when he'd presented it, wrapped up in a handkerchief and tied with a piece of string...
Flash
"I found this in the northern river!" The boy had said proudly, all but bouncing on his heels as Tyr admired the small stone. "It was covered in silt and moss, but I had a feeling there was something special about it, so I scrubbed and scrubbed at it whenever I had a spare moment, and it was so pretty underneath!
"I know you like shiny things," Skoji grinned. "So thought you like to have it!"
Flash
Tyr closed his hand around the stone, and tucked it back into his pocket, where it sat like the weight in his chest. He didn't feel like looking at it, anymore.
"...come on, boy," Odin II raised his head up from the bench as his friend suddenly stood up, and started to walk away. "It's too hot out here. Let's go somewhere cooler." The canine stood up, and took a moment to stretch out his legs and back before trotting to catch up. Tyr led the way toward a public bathroom on the far side of the park, and after a quick check to be sure no-one was watching, he pulled out his key, and tapped it to the door's surface.
There was a small ripple of green light across the door, and when Tyr pulled it open, there stood a cobblestone alleyway between two tall, brickwork buildings, rather than the grimy tile of a public restroom. The boy waited for his dog to cross over first before following, and yanking the door shut behind them. Sticking his hands back in his pockets, he walked away from the alleyway door, and stepped out onto the main street of a small town, in yet another place he didn't care to identify.
There was some sort of local festival going on, that day. Small stalls offering everything from produce to artwork ran up and down the street, with colorful banners and flags hung from the streetlights and street-facing windows on the buildings and storefronts. No-one looked twice at the child walking his large dog down the middle of the street (though some did stare for a moment), and a little bit of the weight on Tyr's shoulders began to lift.
This place was pretty neat...it reminded him of the street markets on Asgard, actually, though the cultural differences were unmistakable. His mother often took him with her when she ran her shopping, and let him run about the nearby stalls, so long as he stayed where she could see him. The weight that had lifted abruptly returned as he passed by a stall selling metalwork flowers, and Tyr frowned.
Flash
"It was the last one at the marketplace." Brama made a point to avoid his eyes as she handed him a small rose made of hammered bronze. She wasn't giving her friend a flower because she liked him or anything. It was just because it was his birthday, and she didn't have the money to buy or the skill to make something more personal.
"The shopkeep was a fan of my mother's pastries, so I traded him the end of day's stock for it. Happy birthday, and all."
Flash
Shaking his head, Tyr pushed past the stall, and tried to push the memory out of his mind. He didn't want to think about those times; those friends. What did it do but make him feel sick? He couldn't go home, and they would have no reason to leave Asgard. Making himself homesick with memories would do him nothing good.
They were nearing the end of the street, now, and another stall caught Tyr's eye. This one had knives and cutlery, hand-carved from wood and antler, and that cold weight grew heavier.
Flash
"It isn't as durable as steel, but it'll last you a good while before it breaks." Vithar scratched the back of his neck nervously as Tyr slid the knife out of its leather sheath. "And since it's only bone, Skard even let me work on it during the business day! He said it was good for the shop for people to see me working on something, even if I can't touch real orders yet." The young man laughed.
"I know a birthday only comes once a year, but I don't have much coin right now, so I thought I could make you something useful instead..."
Flash
"....?" Odin II whined softly and nudged his friend's arm. Why had they stopped? Tyr placed a hand on the canine's scruff, and dug his fingers in. He grit his teeth together, and suddenly started off again - turning down the first corner he found, and hurrying up to the fist door he saw. Regardless of who might be watching, Tyr tapped his key to the door and shouldered his way through it. Odin II scrambled to catch up before the door swung shut, and the glass shop door on the other side closed with a 'click' just as his tail cleared it.
The hallway on the other side was dark, and shaded in twilight only where the setting sun outside spilled in through empty window gaps in the walls, and places where the stonework had crumbled away from age. Tyr headed wordlessly down the hall, knowing that Odin II would be following at his heels. He came to an opening in the wall where, perhaps, a door had once stood before it was filled in, and walked right into it. The air rippled around him as he stepped through the illusory barrier, and into the room beyond.
There wasn't much there; a pile of blankets that passed for beds, a scattering of dog toys, and a makeshift shelf of planks and cinderblocks stocked with an assortment of junk food. All things Tyr had scavenged or taken since his arrival in this realm to try and make a bare, concrete cell of a room feel more like home. In all honesty, most days it didn't work.
The boy dropped down into one pile of blankets and curled up in them, as if he could block out the world with fleece and felt. Odin II made his way through the illusory wall after a few careful prods of a paw, and ambled over to lay down next to his friend. He rested his head on Tyr's side, and let out a contented huff.
Tyr mumbled something that might have been 'good boy' into the blankets, and didn't move until morning.
