To be 100% truthful I only thought about doing this for the iconic physical feature like neuvi, Diluc, etc but this was fun jsjs

“It's bad to eavesdrop” softly you chastise him but he pouts and stomps.

“I wanna go! You told me dad lives there, I wanna meet him”

“Shush! I told you that as our secret” you close the book you were skimming over but sigh as you see his yellow eyes “but last month when I told you to come for a festival in Sumeru but you didn't want to go”

“Because aunties Eula and Amber were going to teach me how to skyyyy” he whines the last word, already sensing you wouldn't want to take him there.

“Bratty child” you groan “fine, if you manage to make up for the 4 days we will not be here with your tutor I will take you” and as you finish talking you hear him slamming the door shut and his bare feet hitting the floor as he runs away.

And, somehow, your usually mischievous child managed to work hard enough to make up for a few absences, or so said his tutor, who you still believed was under the spell of his puppy eyes, just like when he managed to smuggle two cats and a cryo slime.

“Karen, stay close, we have to go to the akademiya to check some paperwork and sit through some meetings” you grab his forearm, dragging him away from the colorful stained glass mobiles and the fluffy beasts carrying spices and fruit.

After a fair bit of bickering with every stand selling something he has never seen you manage to reach the akademiya, even if Karen was almost being dragged.

Popping your head on the administration room you see a row of desks, a familiar face standing out amongst the sea of brown hair, a long gray hair standing up tall from his scalp.

Alhaitham is lounging in his desk, a book on one hand and a pen on the other, seeing him so calm makes you decide against bothering him and rather to ask one of his coworkers, even if you have to wait for a little bit while they finish transcribing as you chat them up, knowing it could be intimidating to have you stand silently besides them.

“C'mon let's just go to himmm, he looks like he is just lazing arounddd” Karen tugs on the bottom of your tunic but you ignore his little tantrum and keep asking the girl about the date she told you she will have after work.

Seemingly waiting for five minutes was too much of a waste of time that could be used to explore this nation. Sneaking silently behind you he stands before Alhaitham’s desk, but is ignored as he has his noise canceling earbuds and Karen isn't taller than the desk.

“Hey” he says, no answer “Heeeyy” no answer, now ticked off Karen slams his small hands against the thick wood board “HEY! STOP IGNORING ME”

Alhaitham just peeks his head towards him, not hearing the noise but seeing his hands, but when he looks at him his annoyed look and yellow eyes seem too familiar.

He opens his mouth, eyes half closed as if he was thinking about something.

Now noticing he was causing the ruckus you drag him by the armpits so he stops hitting the desk, as you start making Karen apologize you see Alhaitham's face. His eyebrows now almost up with his hairline and his green eyes uncharacteristically wide, but quickly he changes into a smirk as Karen apologizes for yelling.

“Please don't tell me it was-”

“Keep reading your book”

“Not my guest's bed~” he teases while grabbing his book, expecting the office to be calm again when the door slams open again, a blond huffing and puffing ready to face his housemate.

“YOU… how come you always grab my keys?! I couldn't enter the house for 2 hours!” to which al haitham tugs a set of keys out of his pockets and dangles three keys and a lion doll.

“Ugh, calm down. Why even wait 2 hours if you already know where I work?”

Under all their yapping you mumble something to your son “that is your dad” and you let a small promise to make both meet if he is busy, but after 5 ish minutes of bickering and the paperwork you needed snug in your hand it's obvious it will be quicker to just end this fight yourself.

“Kaveh? Oh, hi, it's been so long” one of your hands falls on his shoulder, making him notice your presence “like 4 years ago?” You ask as you feel Karen hug one of your legs.

“oh, yeah, it's been so long” he laughs lightly, feeling suddenly bashful.

“It's a shame I was so busy I was just able to visit Sumeru, someone wanted to meet you” the flat part of your nail rakes through your son's hair.

“Huh?” He just now notices the kid behind you and his bright hair.

“Could you take care of him for a second? I have to finish a meeting and I should be able to meet you two”

“Yep! I will show him around and we can meet at the cafe, in sure we will have a lot to talk about”

Love how Lucifer just manhandles Adam during their 'fight' despite everyone else getting their asses kicked. Plus him effortlessly destroying him when Charlie's in danger is really sweet.

that was everything me to me. like everything. It was built up so well too

we spent the whole season building up alastor as this massive powerhouse, eldritch, nobody messes with him. Only one who tried picking a fight with him (Vox) got utterly humiliated and everyone else was clearly outclassed. Except for Lucifer where Alastor merely just went with annoying instead of power challenging. Like we got vibes okay yeah makes sense that the King of Hell isn't intimidated by anyone, even if it's alastor, but Alastor got TWO wtf moments in Dad Beat Dad one with Husk and one with defending the hotel

other than that, it was pretty much, nobody messes with him cuz he will mess you up

and he fights Adam evenly sorta for a bit before Adam pulls out the "I'm an angel which is stronger than any demon" card and alastor gets his ass handed to him.

Like what a way to set up how strong ADAM is, having him beat Alastor. And then no one else in the hotel is as strong as Alastor was, so everyone's struggling. Charlie at least gets one good hit in but her inexperience kicks her in the ass and then Lucifer just shows up and

like hot DAMN that was just one hit! He broke Adam's mask, the force was enough to send him FLYING across the roof top, and bounce so hard against the billboard he BROKE THE SKYLIGHT

That was just a "HANDS OFF MY BABY" warning too, like LOOK at that face, that's not a "fight me" face it's a "if you touch my baby again, I will screw you so bad your bones will need therapy and you never recover"

Lucifer not even .2 seconds later, just upon seeing Charlie

and then yeah, Lucifer was NOT taking the fight with Adam serious at all, like the dude was taunting him, mocking him, dodging all of his attacks, just shapeshifting like Adam was a joke LIKE LOOK AT THIS

Lucifer isn't even scared, he's just "oh there's a wall there"

His FACE IM DYING he's legit like "wowwww you just tried shoving me into a wall? really? didn't have any other ideas? Soooooo original of you. I will mock you now"

HIS HANDS ARE BEHIND HIS BACK HE FOR REAL SAID HE COULD TAKE ADAM WITH BOTH HANDS BEHIND HIS BACK

rewatching rn for the screenshots, he's legit just shapeshifting for the fun of it. 70% of the time nothing has happened, he's just dodging adam and shapeshifting while doing it, like he doesn't need to be doing that this is 100% mockery.

And then the iconic

like omgggg this is soooo satisfying and amazing to watch. Like the set up of Adam being powerful was great, and then we just get this absolute trolling from Lucifer cuz he really doesn't care about Adam

And listen the trolling is great and all, but when Adam makes the mistake of not heeding Lucifer's warning of messing with his baby, and then does it a second time

RIP Adam just getting one shot-ed like that but hnnnnnggggg we got to see Lucifer fully pissed and it was GREAT

And somehow my favorite part wasn't even watching Lucifer go absolute ham on Adam, it was that even at his absolute most rage fueled moment, snarling like a beast where he was going to and fully intended on making good on his threat about messing with his baby

just one shoulder touch from Charlie and he's immediately chill. Like it's instantaneous, like how much do you love someone to be able to be absolutely livid, about to incinerate someone levels of rage only to immediately be "o oki! No more violence!" the second that person touches you???

Ugh I love them so much! Like everything about that fight, but especially how Lucifer can just go from absolutely the most dangerous person in one second and then OWO SOFT the next just by looking at Charlie

since i've spent the past few days essentially staring at nothing but natsuyuu volume covers i thought it'd be so fun and silly to try and redraw them all from memory tee hee. all 30 (thirty) (三十) of them!!! wheee!!!!

i haven't actually looked at them next to the originals yet so guess what time it is!!!! LET'S COMPARE

starting with volume 1. iconic. show stopping. masterpiece. the mona lisa of natsuyuu SURELY i reproduced every single detail perfectly such that it kickstarts my career as a forgery artist RIGHT

forgor the flowers tho. i literally forget everything that isn't a character like immediately BUT OK CUT ME SOME SLACK like after a point the covers start being whole ass scenes which are SO much easier to remember shit abt than the fuckin Green Void (p sure this is the last green void cover tho)

8/10 composition is gr8 but details like the shirt & the yellow flowers are wrong, also the stick is backwards. i literally looked up what that thing is called and forgot already tee hee

OK WE'RE NOT DONE W THE GREEN VOID I REPEAT-

fuck dude. fuck. i rly thought vol 6 was the last one LOL not to spoil but as i was grabbing these images i saw a Preview of what's to come and the green void lasts until fuckign volume TEN LOL collapses onto the ground and dies

so erhermrm this is vol 7 lolllll i remembered the bg flowers this time can u believe hahaha distracts u from the fact that LITERALLY everything else is wrong auhghg

u know what the green void turned into bushes and i think that's beautiful.... like points for creativity on my part tbh. like to be completely honest. 3/10 i got the characters right

obviously the most striking thing abt this cover is the bg w that deep burgundy & the circular window so that was the main thing i nailed down right away (my palette was more muted tho). also natsume sitting there w paper in his mouth but i thought he was mid return when rly hes playing like keep-the-balloon-off-the-floor or whatever the fuck he's doing. i love u natsume

Thank you for writiting so much Stomarol, they’re my newest obsession. I wish we had gotten more than one season with them as speaking characters :( Carol is so beautiful and so is Steve and Tommy is so obsessed with both of them it’s just perfect.

They’re the best love triangle because they all actually love each other and I truly believe that Tommy and Carol hated Nancy because she took Steve away from them

Could you imagine what would’ve happened if Tommy saw what Billy did to Steve and Stomarol were still together? Idk how bringing Steve into the Upside Down stuff would work if he wasn’t dating Nancy, I just think it’s an interesting concept. Or maybe Steve finds Dustin actually looking for his cat in the woods and then meets up with the Party and Max and that’s how the fight with Billy happens if there’s no Upside Down? And Tommy and Carol are busy with their parentsthat day, or they got into a fight with Steve so he’s going to apologize to them like he was to Nancy, so they aren’t with him. Like if Tommy was mad at Jonathan after the fight in season 1, I think he would go feral at Billy especially since Steve was knocked unconscious

I just crave more Stomarol and I’m so close to writing my own version, but I’m just scared it would suck because it would be the first fanfic I’ve ever written

They could have lost him! I don't Steve would be very happy if they went against him to do so, but I don't see Tommy caring? Steve got a severe concussion. He got brain damage. Rotting in jail is the least that asshole Billy deserves.

I've had so many thoughts about stomarol getting involved in the Upside Down in an au where Steve doesn't date Nancy, throuple all the way. And I can't quite decide on an answer?

Because without Steve inviting Nancy to his place to the party, she wouldn't have invited Barb, and she wouldn't have been taken. But then does that mean Nancy doesn't get involved with the Upside Down? Or does she get involved another way?

Or does Steve invite her as a cover? Because he knows she's interested in him. He's hot, he's good at flirting. He knows what a person who likes him looks like. Because Tommy and Carol are publicly dating. Have been since middle school. Steve however? It's the 80s and he's a teen boy who hangs around his best friends a lot. He's touchy and soft and loves them. So he goes on a series of first dates with random girls. He flirts, he kisses them, but he doesn't sleep with them. Doesn't date them long term. Something to cover him so people don't get suspicious.

Does Barb still disappear? Does one of the trio disappear?

I know I like the idea of Tommy and Carol getting involved with the Upside Down, along with Steve. Mostly because those three cannot keep a secret from each other. Not for the big things. The reason they work long term is because they communicate. They have to.

Tommy, Carol, and Steve all being cool bitchy mentors to the young teens is so good. They think they're so cool.

I have this image in my head, of the three of them sitting on the kerb after the fight with the demogorgon. Steve still with his bruised face, bat in hand. Curled together, not caring who sees. They could have died. Monsters are real. And it's just bought them closer. Steve's started revealing his soft underbelly more, he doesn't want to be an asshole. Miserable. They almost died! and because Tommy & Carol love Steve more than keeping themselves safe with their bitchy armour, they all start to soften. Be less mean.

And the Jonathan of it all! @findafight mentioned in the STWG that Jon was still in the woods taking his pervy pictures. Only instead of Steve and Nancy of course - it was Tommy and Carol he caught a photo of. Carol with her top off, them touching. And because no one else except stomarol knows what Steve's bedroom looks like, they don't suspect a thing. They don't suspect that Steve was just out of view of the window, watching them.

And it makes Steve fucking mad. And scared. And on edge. Because they could have been caught! Literally any other option except Tommy & Carol would have been the end of them! If it was Steve and Carol, they would have been labelled dirty cheaters. If it was Tommy and Steve they'd have been outed. And it was all three of them it would have been the end. Their threesome exposed, and they'd have to be so careful not to reveal that it was more than a one time thing.

Steve still smashes the camera. They rip up the photos. And I think they'd still fight Jon in the alleyway. There isn't the 'Nancy The Slut Wheeler' of it all, of course, but they'd rile him up. Begging for a fight.

And yeah 😂 that got slightly out of hand lmao. I just love them! They're so fun to think about! Especially in a world where they last. They make it work.

at this point Alex not being married/having kids seems like an intentional Choice to not follow the prescribed path and it's so fascinating but we can't ever really know more about it bc its a crazy invasive thing for an interviewer to ask (not that he'd answer but still)

i never went looking for it again bc it just made me cringe so much but i'm 100% sure there was an interview from 2018 (like, if someone has this interview you're more than welcome to send it to me and i will share it bc more than anything i'm committed to the truth. i just haven't snooped hard for it bc like i said, the whole thing gave me secondhand embarrassment and i know that if i find it i will read it again bc i'm me lol and i don't wanna feel it again mvfmgkbmg) where the interviewer did ask if he wanted to start a family and he answered (would you look at that) that he "wasn't ready for the responsibility".

and like i feel like in 2018 that answer said everything. he's been hopping from committed relationships to committed relationships since stepping into the limelight and i find his candidness really surprising (always do lol) but truly any other answer would just stand out so much as a lie bc it's so obvious that at the time (we'll get to that) that was the case. he'd been dating taylor for over 3 years at that point, living together for almost as long, they had fucking matching tattoos, and he still didn't feel ready to fully commit. like, he never did. that's been his stance since always. that's one of the reasons he's a serial monogamist, if i may say so. he craves the stability but never wants to commit all the way.

and like, of course. they broke up. which has always happened and looks like it always will tbh. i don't wanna comment too much on louise bc that's always a headache but just overall you know. she hasn't moved in like the other gfs did within months, he doesn't let her post him, doesn't take her to events (barely attends them himself anymore tbf), doesn't take her on tour as much as the others, etc. all the while seeing the guys getting married (and divorced but then again, married again) and having children, etc. and where is he? tucked away reading books, watching films, listening to and writing music. like. oof okay i don't have a point. but you know. you know.

i don't have anything to base this on but like please keep up with this loosely explained train of thought. there he is, tucked away while his closest friends build families (which he is watching happening) and i think something clicked in him since 2018 that yeah, he doesn't want that. of course he hasn't said anything, but don't you just feel it? in your soul? that he doesn't want it? i feel like he's accepted that he doesn't want that kind of responsibility, not that he's not ready for it yet. he doesn't have social media bc, according to him, "there isn't enough time in a day" lol. like, imagine a toddler running around the house when he just wants to crack a rhyme or something. it's completely cliché, i know, but i feel like he's one of those absurdly dedicated people who just wants to live for his art, man. that's the love he chose, he just wants to spend time with that and anything else would be a nuisance. or, you know, some other less cynical more homoerotic expanation lol

he's been with louise longer than he was with alexa, his most iconic relationship. isn't that crazy? does he look like he's getting married any time soon? lol

Been A While.

Hey. How's it going. Been pretty busy these past months, which meant no activity on this page. But, I want that to change soon. I've been getting into the whole "liminal space" subject again, and it reminded me of this page on tumblr I made a while ago. That's just a bit of what I wanted to talk about. Something is on my mind recently. I don't have any pictures for interesting abandoned places or familiar locations you swore you have seen before, but this does have something to do with those. Abandoned malls. You have seen them, those eerie, empty places with nearly nobody. Quiet music echoes around the halls and the buzz of the yellow lights to accompany it. Somehow stores can still reside in those halls, even if the mall has around 100 visitors a day, with around 12 of those visitors actually purchasing goods from the shops, or expired candy from the rusted machines. Play places sit still collecting dust, carousels and other little rides become inoperable. Why am I bringing this up though? It's December of 2014. People are rushing to buy presents for loved ones, roads are filled up with cars sitting in traffic, going to different stores and restaurants with family and friends. People sit outside of popular thrift stores dressed in well built Santa costumes, ringing a bell and giving their merriest "Ho, Ho Ho!" waiting for people to slip a coin into a red bucket beside them. That is exactly what I saw, while my parents drove me and my sister to a local mall, that was exploding in popularity. It was very hard to find a parking spot, but eventually a lane was found where my parents rushed to pull into. I remember being so excited, just waiting to see what was in store, and what was in stores too. I was still building my Christmas list at the time, and I was taken there with my sister to get ideas. It was, to say the least, extravagant. The large halls were crowded with people talking to each other, navigating to shops to buy gifts for their families and friends. Candy and vending machines were nearly empty, with lines of kids my size waiting to try new bubblegum flavors, and new stuffed animals that they knew they couldn't get. So many red and green decorations were scattered throughout, from snowflakes, to streamers, to little icons with snowmen, Santa, elves, and other such family favorites on the walls. Charity organizations and stores had their sponsored signs across the walls and on pillars, with merry signs to attract customers and donors. Christmas songs would play through the speakers, though you could barely hear it through the footsteps and chattering of hundreds of people. I don't think a single person there wasn't smiling. Finally, my dad guided my into a gift shop. I couldn't get many ideas as half of the shelves were empty, because all of the popular toys were sold out. It seemed like a scene straight out of my favorite Christmas movie Jingle All The Way. I got to sit on Santa's lap and I excitedly told him exactly what I wanted - a huge marble run set. It was probably my dream toy, to make my own marble courses and show them off to my family. I would go through all of the shops finding gift ideas for myself and my family, taking notes on a little notepad I had brought with me. That, was probably the best memory of my life, that single day. I was so happy, travelling through the mall, and the rest of town. I was so young, and even the littlest thing would make me so happy. after a tough day of contributing absolutely nothing to the greater good of society, jay decides to do what men like him choose to do to relieve stress: by playing a high-stress game.

what he wasn't expecting, though, was to get a snarky partner who would actually reciprocate his angry chats (as a result of his bad temper) and shit-talk him back. like what they're doing right now.

killstrike: wtf you should have covered me notursniper: yea well u shouldnt have been peeking. killstrike: ur ign fits u bc ur shit at sniping 😂😂 notursniper: i HAD him but ur big ass head was IN THE WAY now u got headshot boohoo 😛 killstrike: just stfu and come revive me

jay was pissed. there's no way he's losing this duo match. it's down to three teams and he can't risk losing more points for his rank when he's so close to reaching crown four, so he breathes in and out, trying his utmost best not to let the arrogant demeanor of his partner get on all of his nerves. notursniper heals him and fends off two players while he heals, leaving just one more team.

you got this. you got this. jay internally chants before a barrage of shots echo from his phone's speaker. he's too busy to look for the enemy to notice his partner's been knocked down. the motherfucker's proning. the circle's getting smaller and jay's getting anxious over the constant request for healing when all of a sudden:

better luck next time player killstrike! top 2/100.

"fuck!" jay shouts in frustration, watching the loading screen as the game demotes him from crown five to regular crown rank. "great. that's just great." in the heat of his frustration, jay adds notursniper just to be able to message them— and as soon as he sees them added to his "friends" list, jongseong taps his frustrations away.

killstrike: its your fucking fault. now im just crown

notursniper: 🤨 ?

killstrike: well??? are you gonna admit your wrongs???

notursniper: 1, is this how u treat women lmao and 2, no i wont :p notursniper: maybe if you actually healed me then we wouldve ranked up notursniper: but ur too selfish and tried to shoot before attending to ur teammate notursniper: so i'd say that rank demotion is DESERVED ❤️

was it possible to choke on air? because jay's convinced he choked on air when he read that. it doesn't help that his eyes immediately darted to the icon where her cuteness was radiating despite her hand and phone covering her entire face. he blames his temper for why he's feeling hot right now— definitely not because he got a visual of what could happen if he did choose to get in line. definitely not. never. no.

notursniper: hey u can block me if u want to lmao 🤣

impulsive by nature, jay taps a few times and gets so close to removing user notursniper as their pubg friend but he hums in thought. having a higher rank meant having more skilled enemies and he's never seemed to get past top 40 players without dying, so it was a miracle he got until the top 2 tonight. his teammate's shit-talking aside, he'd say they were actually really good.

and again, real cute on her icon.

"what?" his own intrusive thoughts snaps him back to the real world, to see that she actually removed him as an in-game friend. what the fuck? in a span of panic, he tried to add them again.

a few days pass by but alas, no response from her. jay does not know why he's itching to check on his phone every now and then. heeseung and sunghoon don't even want to question why he's been staring at phone with his brows furrowed for hours now.

it's only because they're a good player and they can help me rank up. that's it.

soon enough, jay's routine has become waking up, going to school, and checking if user notursniper has accepted his request at every waking second of the day. the same goes for the following morning when jay anxiously opens the game again and finds one new message from a friend.

notursniper: hey loser. back for more?

First Thoughts After 4 Hours - Star Ocean Till the End of Time

April 25, 2024

I have a few of memories of Star Ocean 3 (Till the End of Time) from when I was younger. Back then, you didn't go on social media to talk to people about games, you joined forums and message boards! There was one girl in particular who LOVED Star Ocean 3 so much that I'd constantly see the video game pop up.

I ended up getting the game but I didn't love it. I wasn't into science fiction back then, so I couldn't get into it. But in 2022, when I start gaming regularly again, I bought Star Ocean First Departure R for the Nintendo Switch and absolutely loved it. (I even played it a second time on the PS4 last year).

Now that I have a PS4, I'm finally able to give Star Ocean Till the End of Time the chance it deserves. I've played 4 hours so far and I'm hitting the spot where I'm enjoying it so much that I don't want to stop playing!

Here are my first thoughts after playing 4 hours:

• The way the characters walk (specifically Fayt since he's the only one we control) feels super clunky. I don't hate it though, it's just very noticeable.

• The sound bites and menu design are similar, almost the same?, as First Departure R and I looooove it. (We love continuity.)

• I actually dislike the map completion percentage stuff. I haven't reached 100% on any map so far and I'm not even going to try.

• The voice acting is well done but MAN, THEY TALK SLOOOW (or I just read super fast.) I do enjoy hearing their voices though, so I haven't turn the voices off. YET.

• The solo battles are hard in the beginning, but that might be my fault because I didn't stock up on Blueberries. I'm getting better though!

• I wish there were more item drops after battles.

• I wish the save points also healed your party.

• The graphics look great. I'm playing the PS4 version so I'm sure they were spruced up, but the FMVs still look like old PS2 graphics and I mean that in the BEST way possible. I love old FMVs, that look is *iconic*.

• Fayt is very sweet, he reminds me a little bit of Sorey from Tales of Zestiria.

• Sofia's outfit from the beginning scenes is whacky. Who wears jeans like that? lol

• We love a rotating camera! The indoor locations/homes are very cozy so I like being able to see everything inside. The rotating camera also helps spotting treasure chests that are hidden away.

• I really like that Fayt can read the book titles on bookshelves and also that we're nosy and read people's letters that they leave out on their desk.

• I mentioned above I'm at a point where I feel excited to play and don't want to stop... I like that. It's the sign of a good game that is hooking me in with the story!

tlou episode 4 thoughts!

- i loved seeing ellie play around with the gun in the bathroom. that felt like the perfect amount of childish innocence contrasted with the fact that she clearly knows how to use a gun on some level

- THE JOKE BOOK THE JOKE BOOK THE JOKE BOOK!!!!

- i totally didn't think we would see that scene with ellie and joel in the truck, i thought that the end of the last episode was all we'd see! i even showed my friend a clip of that scene from the game because i didn't want her to miss out, oops. super cute though

- joel not being able to sleep because god help him, he has a job to do. my hearttttt 😭 and the fact that as soon as he recognizes that he cares about her, even the smallest bit, he rebuilds that wall and insists that she's just "cargo", not family. typical joel.

- they really upped the tension leading up to the iconic "he ain't even hurt" scene (although i'm sad they cut that line, because it implied so much about joel). i loved how ellie felt genuinely scared and joel kicked into protector mode (and the callback to sarah hurting her leg: "are you hurt anywhere, are you hurt?" was so good)

- okay so of all my predictions on how the stolen gun would turn out, ellie successfully saving joel was the option i called the most boring, but i'm actually 100% happy with how it turned out. we finally get to see some humanity, remorse, and sadness from ellie in relation to death, something i've been CRAVING. this felt like the ellie i know and my heart broke seeing how that encounter happened. the fact that joel actually apologizes and doesn't act like an asshole after? hello?? that was a welcome change. hbo!joel is a lot more self-loathing where game!joel is more closed off to emotion in general, so this makes sense to me. joel teaching ellie how to properly hold the gun was so cute! and then she puts the gun in her pocket anyway yesss that's so ellie, that's my little shit

- "it wasn't my first time." HMMMM is she talking about riley? did she have to kill riley? :( or someone else?

- melanie lynskey killing it as always!!! it makes so much sense to tie her to henry. i'm super interested by her story! it feels like a soft intro to abby's future story; maybe they're introducing the idea of the cycle of revenge now so people won't freak the fuck out when we get to part 2? one can hope...

- jeffrey pierce!!! i didn't recognize his face but as soon as i heard his voice i was like omg

- joel wheezing his way up the stairs was so cuuuuute, "get up you lazy ass" 😭 i love them so much

- what a beautiful fucking scene, you know the scene i'm talking about. man. i could listen to them laugh with each other all day 🥺 reminds me of this concept art:

- HENRY AND SAM!!!! they must've already been in the building right? i loooove the way they introduced them after joel promised that no one would sneak up on them and they already stated that joel is hard of hearing on the right side, which we then see that he rolled over in his sleep (letting his guard down) and he didn't hear them sneaking in. just another one of joel's "failures" in his mind. and sam is deaf (?) or possibly they're just using sign language as a way to stay silent/safe? either way it all ties together so well

- this is a dumb complaint but i really wish they had used ashley johnson's cover of true faith for the credits. but i'm glad lotte kestner is getting recognition after what happened with the original trailer

- neil druckmann in the post-credits saying "i love humanizing villains" sooo real, i love it

Now for the hard question: in your top 10 movie franchises list add in ALL of the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings movies in order of favorites.

Oh you have to ask the hard questions! Ok, let me see...in order for Star Wars:

Empire Strikes Back -- it is just such a good movie with some iconic Luke looks and Daddy-Son moments. It's so good and him with grandpa-Yoda is so cute. I also love how we see this lead up into Luke's change of perspective with everything.

Return of the Jedi -- Also great Luke and Daddy-Son moments. I think it barely inches over New Hope simply because I got to see it again on the 40th re-release in theaters and I was feral over how Luke looked. Also, loved the fighting scenes and we get Lando. I also happen to love the Ewoks.

New Hope -- May actually be in second place once RoJ-theater release gives me peace (need another few months). But this Luke is just so pure and whiny and I want to put him in my pocket forever and ever and ever. (let me throw this Luke at Din omg)

Revenge of the Sith -- UGH just UGH so god. Anakin is so hot in this and so messed up and this lead up is just fantastic and wonderful and absolutely tragic.

Rogue One -- I mean, how could I not adore this? It is absolutely AMAZING. Just heartbreaking with amazing graphics, awesome characters, and is only getting better thanks to the Andor series.

The Force Awakens -- Honestly, I adored this movie so much. It wasn't perfect, it needed more Luke and the original trio, but it had so much potential. I just thought it was leading up to something amazing and the memes Mark gave us after left me excited and laughing for a long time.

The Phantom Menace -- Part of this is spite-love for young Anakin and Jar Jar Binks; both deserve better. But honestly, I have rewatched this a few times recently and was all "this is actually great? why the hate?"

Attack of the Clones -- Honestly, I need to rewatch this again. It's just here cause I haven't rewatched it in a while and i don't know why. We get Jango! We get the Clones! Baby Boba! The SAND-QUOTE! Obi-Wan's mullet! The lead up to the Clone War series! Badass Yoda! Yeah, gotta do a re-watch.

Solo -- Again, i actually really enjoyed the movie. It wasn't the best but it wasn't bad. Honestly, there were just some weird choices for some story movements and character interactions but other than that? It was good. I need to rewatch it honestly.

The Last Jedi -- I hate, hate, hate what they did to my Luke. If they were going to go this route with him I'd understand 100% because it would make sense for him to to have so much PTSD and just be burnt out and so hurt (still, i think we have enough of this and deserve older heroes that are still full of hope and silly and are kind). But the execution and how he is made to be a loser is just wrong. There were also some other scenes and interactions that were "uh...no?" but the fight scenes were great, Po was great, I loved Rose, I loved Finn's story and realization. It was just really wonky, disjointed from what we were getting before, and I will keep my head-cannon Luke in my claws.

The Rise of Skywalker -- I...didn't like it. I saw it twice and actually checked the time till I could go home often (only have done that with like two other movies). It was so awkward, the dialogue was poor, the actors seemed done, there was so many random new stories thrown in at last second, characters were thrown away, "Palpatine somehow returned?" like...what??? It was just lame. Such a lame, lame ending. The OT-trio and the new trio deserved so much better. It needs a re-do.

Now for the Lord of the Rings!:

The Fellowship of the Ring -- Even though it wasn't the most action packed, what it sparked, how good it was...just AUGH perfection. I adore this movie so much.

The Two Towers -- Incredible, amazing, also perfect. Great action, all the characters are given their due-time (with Legolas making faces). I love it.

Return of the King -- AMAZING ENDING. The wraps up is just...the moments of suffering and the release. The HAPPINESS. How ever gets what they deserve (tho RIP Boromir) just adore it so much.

The Desolation of Smaug -- PERFECT. Except for maybe some off CGI, this movie was amazing. So much Bagginshield, the intense cliffhanger, the Arkenstone....it was so good. I adored this movie so much!

An Unexpected Journey -- I adore Bilbo. I love him so much. And how this opened up Bagginshield just how could I not adore it??

Battle of the Five Armies -- I didn't like it the first time I watched it. But a few more times I was "huh, actually, it's not bad!" It honestly should've been loads better. There were so many wonky decisions and everything that happened did not feel like it met up with the end of a trilogy. But the end....how everyone survived! Can you believe that there was absolutely NO HEARTBREAK WHAT'SO'EVER??

Because I want to see the massive Aeon stan reaction if their interaction completely changed in the new story. i'm saying damnation itself is going to be deleted from the remake timeline entirely and the only thing that's going to be salvaged is the lore it contained. this has already started with RE4make. the idea of a "dominant" plaga or different tiers of plaga wasn't a thing in OG; that concept wasn't introduced until damnation.

i 100% see chris making reference to a civil war that broke out in the ESR using a similar strain of BOWs and then commentating that he tried to get more info from leon but leon couldn't help him because he wasn't there and the US government acted without him.

and the reason why i say that is because remake has made his relationship with the government the front and center focal point of his character arc.

removing ada from his arc in bits and pieces to focus more on the government seems to be the direction this is heading.

instead, this will be used to set up jake's character.

i bet you ANY amount of money that damnation is going to be retooled to foreshadow jake and completely remove leon and ada's involvement all together.

20. A boss you think is really cool

Hmmm... that's an interesting one! I'm gonna answer with a few different bosses, bc 'cool' could mean a lot of different things

Cool design + concept: Blizzeta from Twilight Princess (her 2nd form also has what's probably my 2nd fave boss theme of all time)! I also like the in-story context for her boss battle so much! (spoilers for Twilight Princess) We know already that the mirror shards are a corrupting force, and earlier we see that the Goron Chief was corrupted by the Fused Shadows. But here we see, via freaky ass cutscene, a character we liked get corrupted in front of us- it's no longer a generic 'beat the bad guy' boss fight, it's a 'saving the innocent' battle with personal stakes! and the cutscene that initiates her battle? Iconic. Everyone in the fandom knew NOT. TAKE. MIRROR. I also have an attachment to her for very personal reasons haha. But yeah her design fucks hard, I wish the combat was as interesting as the rest of her schtick.

Cool (I admire them): Cynthia from pokemon gen 4 are u kidding me I wanted to be her SO BAD as a kid. She wiped the floor with me so many times. I made a sprite edit using her as a base when I was like 12 and used it for an avatar. If I can remember the name of my old forums I'll post it.

Cool as in 'has stuck with me': Honestly a lot of the OG Luigi's Mansion ghosts are cool bc they're like... just people, and it's real wild that the first boss of this nintendo game is somebody's dead mom. But Bogmire stands out for being kind of surprise creepy. I think about it a lot. What's its deal. Yeah it's the personification of the house's misery or whatever, but what does that MEAN. I was like 5 or 6, playing this game, and I go to a hidden graveyard and knock on a big cool gravestone and initiate this battle. For little me, it was the right mix of creepy but engaging. I was nervous but not terrified. I would buy a Bogmire plushie.

Cool as in 'I look forward to it when I play the game': The darknut minibosses from both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Yeah the Wind Waker one isn't that tough now that I have a big grown up brain, but it's still neat, and WW Darknuts are my literal all time favourite enemies to fight in any game ever. I never pass up the chance.

The Twilight Princess one, though? Holy shit. I replayed the game like 2 years ago, and that bitch STILL kinda freaked me out! YEAH you can cheese him with the bomb arrows if ur a little bitch, but if you do a genuine bona fide sword fight? That shit's fun as hell. There's this unnameable dread when you first enter that room. You can feel in your BONES that that suit of armor is going to come to life and whoop your ass.

Cool as in most badass/dramatic: oh yeah it's gotta be the Wind Waker final battle. Everything about it RULES. (SPOILERS) You're having a desperate sword fight for your life, a 10 year old kid who left home a month ago vs an ancient warlock who was so powerful the gods themselves had to seal him away.

He won, btw. Like Ganondorf literally wins in WW. It takes KoRL stepping in to DROWN BOTH HIMSELF AND GANONDORF to prevent Ganondorf from getting his wish. So you're trapped in a room, water pouring in on all sides, against a man who... doesn't even hate you. He's just doing what must be done. He could have killed Zelda, but he doesn't. He puts his sword away and backhands her instead of running her through. He's 100% just playing out his destiny. You aren't the one who defeated him the first time, you're just some kid who was dragged into this by a ghost.

And when you kill him BY STABBING YOUR GODDAMN SWORD INTO HIS HEAD, he laughs quietly before delivering one of the most iconic lines in Zelda history. Like that whole battle, from opening cutscene to the final, is so intense. So fucking intense. I'm convinced they couldn't have gotten away with half the shit they do if the game wasn't so cutesy. Easy Teen rating.

Cool as in Best: WW Molgera is 10/10. The fight itself is fun and satisfying! Molgera has a KICK ASS design! It's a fantastic and mood-setting opening cutscene! The sound design on the boss is freaky in all the right ways! It's a UNIQUE boss battle! She's got the greatest boss battle theme in the whole goddamn series and I'll DIE on this hill! She was so scary I cried while watching my dad play when I was little, and once I got to her battle on my own I not only remembered her, it took me two days to work up the courage to face her, and I felt like an absolute fucking badass once I did! In that moment, I fell well and truly in love with video games. I was Link, a child facing down an ancient wyrm, terrified but pressing on.

Also, in the original GCN version of the game, the hitbox on her tongue doesn't go away when she starts flying, so you can hookshot it and force her back into the sand.

i think about rosemary kennedy a lot.

i think about how her family lobotomized her and then just

left her in that facility for years, never checking on her, never writing or visiting. just abandoned her. how, even when she was allowed to visit her family, they never told anyone who she was (her sister eunice, who founded the special olympics, straight up told people rosemary was just a disabled person she allowed to swim in her pool.)

(putting the rest under a read more bc this shit can be triggering. mentions of asylums, cruelty, death of infants. you know. the stuff of a mentally ill person's nightmares.)

i think about how it wasn't that long ago that the last asylums closed or were converted into mental health facilities (google says 1997 in america but) and how the fear of those places is still prevalent in the minds of mentally ill people.

i think about how my father was dead certain he had an older brother who was just 'put away' and never spoken about, and a little brother who died of sids but they were never 100% on that because smothering babies with birth defects or visible autism or down's syndrome was just

a thing some people did at that time and it was really hard to differentiate sids from smothering.

i think how i was born in 1998 and if i had been born earlier, there was a very real possibility that i could have been locked away like rosemary kennedy. like those thousands of people locked away in those facilities or

or that uncle who is never mentioned by anyone in my dad's family because mental illness was so stigmatized people would straight up pretend the mentally ill people in their family weren't fucking real.

i think about in today's world, psychology terms are all over the internet. discussion of mental illness is an every day thing.

and yet,

we're still afraid of those men in white coats.

we're constantly making media about people in asylums, exploring those deep-seated fears. almost needing to assure ourselves that we aren't 'too crazy'.

conspiracy theories abound about certain pieces of media being all in the main character's head as a trauma response. as a society, we're almost

obsessed, maybe, with the concept of psychosis. we want to explore the darkest parts of our psyche.

and part of me can't help but see this, the exploration of the psyche, as a response to those old ideas of hiding the dark parts of your mind, of pretending those things, and the people who suffer them. don't exist.

i think about the outrage people speak about rosemary kennedy with. about how angry people get when they learn what her family, once revered as an icon of all-americanism, did to her. i think about how it changes people's view of her family.

i think about the reason given for her lobotomy was 'seizures and violent mood swings'

of which, i have suffered both. my father suffered both. i wonder, sometimes, if i had been born earlier

'would i have been lobotomized? or would i have just been left in a facility, never spoken about. would i have become like my uncle?'

and that makes me wonder.

how many of my relatives, my ancestors

were put away? were locked away and never mentioned again, because that was just what they did back then?

i think about how many of my ancestors were like me

who had difficulties managing their emotions, who wanted to just

scream. a lot. because there was so much happening in their brains all the time. who had difficulty socializing because they overshared or split on people and didn't know how to manage that.

i feel

connected to them, in a way that i don't otherwise feel.

i don't know. maybe i'm rambling.

i just think, sometimes

we forget how far we've come.

absolutely not a stupid question at all tho!! a lot of writers and other cc's will say a resounding "yes" and while i do think that people should reblog fics they like, if its initially like... super daunting to do so, i think its okay to like? getting used to tumblr can be kinda hard in the beginning, but i do highly recommend reblogging fics--even if you don't have any followers btw, the engagement still means a lot to ppl!! even if ppl don't put tags or anything, it says "i like this and i want other people to see it" since likes aren't public the way they are on other websites (or at all, if you turn them off)

please don't feel bad for not doing it since you're new!! literally i think most people don't understand how tumblr functions but that's pretty normal for joining a website haha

so full disclosure: i'm working on desktop and things are usually pretty similar on mobile, but there's a few differences that i can try to explain if you're on mobile!! but for reblogging:

at the bottom of a post, you'll see a couple things. they're in the same place pretty much for both desktop and mobile. if a post has been interacted with (through a reply (the little bubble icon), a reblog (the arrows), or liked (heart)), it'll have notes! you can nowadays see what other people write in their replies/reblogs by clicking on the notes key and looking through the different tabs there, but some people limit their replies (the bubble will be grayed out as a result) or turn off reblogs (reblog arrows will be grayed out).

excuse the extra buttons on mine: im on desktop and i have an extension called xkit active <3 (it allows me to block posts + do quick tags when i post fics)

as you can see: this post i made (which is dk uts skdfhds its the first thing i have thats not my pinned post) 48 notes, followed by a series of buttons. ignore the first two (they're from xkit), the rest are what you'll typically see on a post.

in order:

the single arrow can be used to share the post. either you an send it to other tumblrs (not all people have DMs open, and i'd honestly say ask before you DM someone if you don't know them well), or you can copy the link, share it on twitter/facebook, or do other things w the "more" button like send stuff via text n whatnot. its very possible to send things from a sideblog, if you ever have one and want to do it that way

on mobile your main blog will be at the top of the page with a little down arrow next to it: all you gotta do is click it and decide what blog you wanna send it from. on desktop:

you can see the bubble next to "your message here" isn't my icon since the message would be coming from my main. all you gotta do is click that little bubble (of your own icon) and you can send things from different blogs <3

anyway!!

the little speech bubble is the button for replies. tapping/clicking it will just open up the replies tab.

reblog on both desktop and mobile will open up the tab to reblog something. if you're on mobile, though, and wanna reblog something quickly, you can press and hold. i have sideblogs so i can't confirm if only having one blog will just auto-reblog it, but with sideblogs it'll pop up 2-3 of your recently used blogs (if you have more than 3).

on desktop:

this is what reblogs will look like! it's similar to posts, but the difference is just the blue "reblog" button compared to a blue "post" button. important distinction: the #tags is for tagging stuff (or, yknow, posting thoughts if you want lmao the tagging system on tumblr is kinda broken). if a post asks for something "in the tags" then you type in the tags as opposed to the main body <3

anyway, that lil heart outline is the like button <3 it just says that you like a post :) they don't get broadcast onto other people's feeds the way they do on other websites, but you can have them public or private through messing w settings
