[Let us] pause for a moment upon this question of our Lord’s, ‘Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat?’ Now notice what a lovely glimpse we get there into the quick-rising sympathy of the Saviour with all forms of human necessity. He had gone away to snatch a brief moment of rest. The rest is denied Him; the hurrying crowds come pressing with their vulgar curiosity– for it was nothing better– after Him. No movement of impatience passes across His mind; no reluctance as He turns away from the vanishing prospect of a quiet afternoon with His friends. He looks upon them, and the first thought is a quick, instinctive movement of a divine and yet most human sympathy. The question rises in His mind of how He was to provide for them; they were not hungry yet; they had not thought where their bread was to come from. But He cared for the careless, and His heart was prophetic of their necessities, and quick to determine ‘what He should do’ to supply them. So is it ever. Before we call, He answers. Thy mercy-- O loving Christ! --needs no more than the sight of human necessities, or even the anticipation of them, swiftly to bestir itself for their satisfaction and their supply.

i just think that the first saw apprentices are victims, like, lawrence and amanda endured so much, following the rules and literally finding purpose and a will to live. lawrence cut off his own foot, amanda killing a man. they suffered and passed their games. they learned how to make people suffer and atone because that is what they had to endure. they are as much jigsaw's apprentices as much as they are victims. mark hoffman is iconic. he just decided to saw trap his sisters killer because he deserved it. his victim wasnt meant to survive because he never suffered the same pain as a victim. he missed the point, and when he was allowed to apprentice, he thought he would go untested. even john kramer suffered before he made his first trap. jill suffered the loss of gideon and the death of john himself. mark never did. mark thought he would never suffer.
but thats a part of being an apprentice. you have to suffer. you have to be tested.

My favorite thing to imagine is all the mischief Tilly and John would get up to in their youth.
Them pranking Arthur, stealing candy from general stores, and getting on the very last nerves of Dutch, Hosea, and Grimshaw.

okay so we know some saw movies are green and some are blue. and we know mexico in saw is yellow and orange. so here's my 'theory':
idk shit about american geography but we don't have any exact locations for where they take place anyway. my theory is that SAW CITY changes all the time and the colour scheme can indicate latitude, at least in north america. all usa saw movies are blue/green/yellow, all mexican saw movies are yellow/orange/red, any future canadian saw movies will be blue/purple/brown or just fucking dark as hell, and any south american movies could be pink/lavender maybe. the gradient follows the gilbert baker pride flag in honour of adam
