"Veep": A Tim Baltz sighting, an "is he or isn't he?" tease, and a lot of frontal nudity
I watched the first season or so of Veep (2012-2019), with Julia Louise-Dreyfuss as a scheming, acerbic Vice President of the U.S. (political party unspecified), but got annoyed with the excessive amorality of the characters and their interminable petty squabbles. But I'm back to review Episode 3.4, "Clovis," because it reputedly has a gay theme. There's a huge cast of middle-aged white men with interchangeable personalities and identical names, so it will be easier to refer to them by job title.
Tumblr media
Scene 1: Palo Alto, California. The Veep (Julia Louise Dreyfuss) is speaking at Stanford. Her Strategist (Gary Cole, below) notes that tickets are $5000. Tomorrow she's speaking at Clovis, a company worth $4.3 billion ("more than I make in a year!"). Darn, I thought she would be going to New Mexico.
While she is holding a baby and talking baby-talk, its mother asks why she backflipped on fracking. They get into an argument. The team tries to disengage, but you can't just walk away while holding a baby.
Scene 2: The VP Chief of Staff is yelling at the Communications Director (Matt Walsh, left), asking why he didn't disengage quicker.  Meanwhile the Veep and her Assistant Gary (Tony Hale) discuss the damage: "You're going to alienate women in their 30s."  "Oh, no!" she exclaims. "I'm left with gay Latinos and Jews at college."  A very precise fan base.
Scene 3: At the Veep's office, the staff watches tv: Danny Chung  (Randall Park, below) is talking about the fracking fiasco (gleefully; he must be an enemy).  Deputy Director of Communications (Reid Scott, top photo, left, and below) wants to "take the fucker out."
To add to his woes, on his computer, his frenemy Jonah is rapping about the fiasco, having the Veep say "And that's why drinking chemical sludge is good for you."
The full review, with many frontal and rear nude pics, is on Righteous Gemstones Beefcake and Boyfriends.

You Hurt My Feelings Review- A Total Misfire For Everyone Involved
With there being all kinds of movies coming out from week to week it’s hard for little indie films to make it sometimes. A24 is one of those companies that have invested very well in arthouse directors and indie films that premiered at film festivals like the Sundance Film Festival. The latest example of this is they made and premiered the most recent offering from writer/director Nicole…

David Harbour Says ‘Thunderbolts’ Brings ‘Something New’ to MCU
David Harbour Says ‘Thunderbolts’ Brings ‘Something New’ to MCU
David Harbour is branching out from his Stranger Things fame to develop his MCU character, Red Guardian. After previously appearing in Black Widow, Harbour now says the upcoming Thunderbolts will bring something new. Thunderbolts, the final film of Phase 5, sees Red Guardian thrown into a whole new scenario. In the movie, he’ll be joining a Suicide Squad-like team of anti-heroes. In addition to…

Among Wakanda Forever's many MANY achievements is its superb indictment of white feminism. Julia Louis-Dreyfuss' character is the classic superficially "empowered" woman in a high-level corporate job who does nothing to empower any other woman--who in fact only seeks to infiltrate and sustain the same colonial patriarchy that oppresses most of the world for her own benefit. Contrast this with the true feminism of Wakanda and Talokan, where women are not only on equal footing with men, but play an active role in creating and maintaining societies that would have no room for such backwards notions as misogyny in the first place. Wakanda Forever is a masterpiece.

kai, an immortal whose body immediately and automatically heals itself, discovering that his own pain creates power he can use to fuel his magic: good news! i found an infinite clean source of energy. it's called STABBING MYSELF IN THE CHEST REPEATEDLY
kai: the best part is that emotional trauma counts too! including the emotional trauma incurred from being stabbed! bogo power source!

Thanks for the tag @wheel-of-fish! This was a fun one... My top 10 comfort films:
1. I Remember Mama (Irene Dunne)
2. The Long Long Trailer ( Lucille Ball)
3. Always (Holly Hunter & Richard Dreyfuss)
4. The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (Rex Harrison & Gene Tierney)
5. The Sound of Music (Julia Andrews & Christopher Plummer)
6. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Jane Powell & Howard Keel)
7. Both Snowy River Movies (Sigrid Thornton & Tom Burlinson) *I don't care if it's cheating, I couldn't choose between them
8. Persuasion 1995 (Amanda Root & Ciaran Hinds)
9. Canterville Ghost ( Charles Laughton)
10. Labyrinth (David Bowie & Jennifer Connelly)
Beauty and the Beast and The Secret of Nimh were contenders but since they are animated I will save them for another tag game... Honorable mentions that almost made the list are Sabrina (Audrey Hepburn), Cheaper by the Dozen (The 1950 version with Myrna Loy), The Shop Around the Corner (Jimmy Stewart & Margaret Sullavan), and The Quiet Man, and Yours Mine & Ours ( the original with Lucille Ball & Henry Fonda)
Tagging with no pressure @battydings, @illuminaughti-online, @from-aldebaran, @jennyfair7, @ladystormcrow

I don't like SNL very often (as seen by my rant against it), but there is one season I'd probably like: Season 10. With a cast containing Martin Short, Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and more, it's probably their best season. One day I feel like checking out the four films Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy made together. They all sound fun.
