AU in which Eraqus refers to the χ-blade as the "kye-blade"
This pisses Xehanort off. So much.
Which is, of course, why Eraqus keeps doing it.

Pretty Boy's Mistake
Kye was you average university athlete, mainly there to get a degree a generic sports degree to get a job as a personal trainer in the high end gyms, he rarely went to his lecture but always got outstanding grades. It wasn't that he wasn't passionate about sports or health, in fact he had taught himself pretty much everything the university had to offer before he had even gotten there. He was only there for a piece of paper. He spent most of his time in the gym, lifting weights whilst also training some guys on the side for some cash in hand work but he always made sure to put his own workouts first. His body was almost perfect and he loved every inch of it.
Tumblr media
Although he wished he could be bigger. He saw some of the guys in the gym, how their tank tops looked like they could burst at any moment. One time he even saw a guys tank split because of an insane chest pump. He loved huge guys, wanted to be fucking huge like them. He would picture his gym crush and how his entire car would bounce and wobble when he squeezed his massive frame inside, he wanted a guy like that in his bed, he wanted to be bigger than that but a body like that would probably take him another 15 years to build and he wanted to enjoy and flaunt that size before he left uni.
Kye was in the gym when he saw a huge lumbering giant walk in. The man looked like a superhero right out of a comic and something possessed Kye out of no where. He followed the huge meathead to the locker room.
Kye stood there seeing the giant block almost all the lockers on a wall his back was so wide and Kye got nervous, a lump formed in his throat and he spat out what he had to say.
"so...how do I get as big as you bro"
the massive dude turned around looking around the locker room checking to see if he was talking to someone else, he let out a thunderous chuckle.
"you talkin to me pretty boy?"
Kye grew red in the face "y-yeah man, look I been lifting for a few years and I really wanna get fucking huge like you man"
"aaa just keep at it guy, youll be massive like mean real soon"
"how old are you?"
"Im 22 bro"
"22!" Kye yelled "bro im almost 23 how the fuck you get so big man, you gotta tell me your secret"
"hmmm, look, you're kinda cute bro so, I'll let you in on a little secret, for a trade of course"
"Anything man, anything, Ive tried everything I know with diet and routine and I'm just not swelling up like other guys are"
"I'll give you my secret if you tell me why you wanna be so big, annnnd, for a date" the large man raise his eyebrow and walked closer to Kye.
Kye's heart started pounded as he imagined what it'd be like to have his skull crushed by the giant bodybuilder's monstrous thighs
"o-okay, ummm, phew, is it hot in here?" kye tripped and stumbled over his words like it was his first time ever talking to a guy.
"so, why you wanna be big pretty boy?"
Suddenly the man had is arms leaning on the doorframe behind Kye forming an arch over him looking down at him.
"eer, well, I-I like size and, I like guys with size and I wanna be big y-ya know" Kye tried to avoid eye contact as the massive brute leaned in
"So you like big guys hey? why don't you keep your lil jock bod, let a mountain like myself have fun with you"
"Because I ain't no bodies bottom bitch, believe me man, if I was as big as you, I'd of already throw you against the wall and you'd be beggin for it"
The massive meat head in front of him bit his lip
"so you promise, once you're as big as me you'll be tossing me around?"
Kye smirked trying to keep up the confident façade
"yeah bro, but gotta warn you, I'm already a catch, once guys see me with arms tearing out of my shirt and my huge muscled fat ass squeezed into tight gym shorts you'll probably have some competition"
"oh I like a cocky meathead"
the man turned around walking back to his gym bag pulling out a small vial of orange fluid, he handed it to kye
"I'm Jason by the way"
"What is this?"
"My secret mixture, drink it man, it'll make you real big...and give you that fat juicy ass you want"
Kye instantly downed the drink and gave Jason a wink.
"Alright, Im gonna go workout man"
"See you tomorrow pretty boy" Jason laughed as Kye walked out.
Kye was stepping into his car, having to stop to catch his breath, he worked harder than he ever had. He knew the vitamin shot he was given wasn't going to do anything but it was at least energising. Kye felt a strange tingling, as the veins on his pelvis swelled with blood pumping downwards. Kye gritted his teeth feeling like he was about to get hard and suddenly he watched as his package swelled and doubled in size in his pants.
Tumblr media
Kye jumped in his car feeling his thighs and arms swell. Like his pump was subsiding but his muscles weren't shrinking down to normal size.
He drove home, gritting his teeth and occasionally grunting the entire way.
Kye stepping of of his car feeling his shirt tight around his chest and arms. He let out a tired sigh feeling strange and walked inside. Kye saw himself in the mirror, his shirt tightly pulled across body. He pulled off his shirt seeing his abs slightly stretched out, rubbing his stomach watches his package swell again.
UUUUUGGGGhhhhhh He groaned.
"W-what the fuck is going on"
Tumblr media
Kye watches as his bulge swelled outwards in his pants straining against the fabric, as his stomach swelled outwards with it.
"W-WHAT THE FUCK MY, MY ABS"
Kye grabbed his stomach feeling it strain
UUUUUUUGGGGHHHH-UUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRPPPPP
Kye let out a painful groan that turned into a belch as tears started to form in his eyes, his perfect 6 pack was gone swelled out like he had been bulking all year round.
Kye couldn't hold back the belches escaping his mouth and with each on his body changed. His arms swelled bigger, his thighs swells bigger.
He watched helplessly in the mirror unable to stop the changes, no matter how hard he pushed his stomach trying to get it to shrink the only thing he managed to do was push out another belch. Kye mercilessly began scratching at his jaw and neck feeling an annoying itch take over. He was too busy watching as his body swelled up to notice the changes in his face. Kye finally looked up from his bloated stomach to see himself, hairy, big and bulky.
Tumblr media
"WHAT THE FUCK, I" Kye pinched the side of his waist in disbelief
BUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRPPPPPP
Kye's massive meaty hand felt is muscled gut vibrate as he belched. Feeling a surge of change again, but he didn't see himself get any bigger in the mirror, he heard a slight ripping noise and looked around. Turning to the side he saw the fabric of his gym shorts tight, torn and ripped over his massive muscular ass. His face turned bright red.
"Oh god..I'm...uuggh I'm like a fat bear"
Kye's stomach grumbled and he made his way to the kitchen poking and patting his gut hoping by some mirecal it would shrink and turn back into a six pack.
Kye sat in the gym locker room trying to hide his new burly body under bagging clothing. Embarrassed and hoping Jason would walk in at any moment. After about an hour Jason walked in.
"H-Hey Jason"
"Oh hey Pretty Boy, hows it feel bein big"
"I" Kye couldn't even finish his sentence before letting out a monstrous belch
"I didn't ask for this"
"yeah you did bro, you wanted to be big"
"AND NOW LOOK AT THIS, WHERE ARE MY ABS IM TUBBY" Kye lifted his shirt and poked at the muscled slab
"Man you aint tubby, you bulky, thick muscle"
"But I wanted my abs bro, I wanted to look like some pro bodybuilder not like some kinda burping werewolf"
Kye rubbed his gut cocking his mouth open belching causing Jason to laugh. Kye's face turned bright red
"Dude stop laughing and fucking do something, uuuggghhh"
"alright bro, quit the complaining I might have something for you"
"Anything is better than this man"
Jason handed Kye a vial filled with bright pink liquid
UUUURpp "so, this'll fix me?"
"Oh man, it'll give you the perfect body"
Kye looked at it suspiciously feeling the concrete wall he had for a stomach. He closed his eyes and downed, a few moments passed and Kye didn't feel much different, when suddenly the familiar sensation rose up from his gut to his throat.
UUUUUHHGG-UUUUUURRRRRPPPP
Tumblr media
Kye's eyes widen and his face turned white
"WHA-UUUUUURRRPPPP DID-UUUUURRRRRRPP YOU GIV- UUUURRRPP ME?!"
Kye tried to speak more but he struggled to form a full sentence from his constant belching
"Looking good man" Jason laughed
Kye, felt is rock hard bloated gut and heard the sound of tearing fabric as his muscles bulged out of his shit, soon he was left standing there in the gym locker room in nothing but his underwear.
tumblr
Kye looked at himself in the mirror disappointed by his huge muscle gut, he cocked his mouth open and belched.
Jason let out a booming laugh "bro you look like you take roids and smash 6 protein shakes hourly"
"bro why'd you do this" Kye sheepishly asked
"because you wanted to me big"
"then why not make me like you, why give me this huge gu-UUUUURRP"
"Coz you were cocky, and I find it hot when cocky guys get taken down a peg"
"oh" kye smiled "so now you've gotten you kick I can go back right?"
"nah, you were a pretty boy jock, now you can enjoy being a bulky cunt"
Kye went to walk away from the mirror, hearing his underwear start to rip around is massive muscled ass. That'll teach him to take stuff from strangers in the locker room.

You were pretty sure that working in the narcotics department was not for everyone, even more so when you were about to infiltrate another one of your missions. Under the judgmental gaze of your friend Liza, your breath came out more like a sigh as you slid a fake card to the guy standing at the entrance to register the flow of people.
"Hello, lady" with a scowl on his face, your tone was totally the opposite. You signaled a greeting and then he beeped your card, doing the same with Liza's so the two of you could go past the huge iron gate at the beginning of the street.
"Wait, y/n" she held your arm when the two of you were already a considerable distance from the entrance gate. Liza swallowed dryly as she looked around, that place was a bit empty compared to what you two would find if you kept walking down that deserted street.
"What?" you stopped walking to look her right in the eyes. Liza did not convey fear, on the contrary, she seemed afraid to see that both you and she had gotten into this head on.
"Are you sure we should do this?" she asked "Maybe that guy lied to us and Changmin is right…"
Changmin is right, you snorted. You didn't want to give reason to one of your sector colleagues and one of the smartest policemen. It happened that a few months ago you seized some drugs that were circulating in the city, and a heavy scheme that whoever was involved in them turned up dead the next day. You couldn't tell if it was from ingesting the substances or if the supplier didn't like who was consuming his product. So you went after people who had contacts and more contacts until you got to the one who started it all.
You and your team came up with the name of Kim Hyemi, or as he seemed to be called by anyone in that environment, Kye. All of the thugs that you had apprehended during the past two months who had some involvement with drugs, feared for this Kye and how he might go after them at the police station.
Changmin was with you when you first heard the man's name. He swore that he could find you only with the help of the information technology team and a few more contacts, but you refused. You said that wanted to go slowly because this man seemed dangerous, seeing that almost all the consumers in the cells where you worked were afraid even to pronounce his name.
"What if Kye doesn't exist, and is just another group of idiot bandits trying to sell illegally? So they'll make us go after a non-existent being while they sell what they want at all costs" Changmin muttered one night when you were up early looking for some information about the case. Liza sighed, sipping her coffee while you threw your head back in your chair, yawning and trying to ignore that maybe he was right. But a hint of hope that Kye existed was screaming inside you.
Now you and Liza were going on an illegal run where – supposedly – Kye went almost every week.
"Are you ready?" you looked at Liza and she nodded quickly, then as the two of you passed that huge concrete wall, the noise of motorcycles and cars filled your ears.
It was packed with people, teenagers and adults who were irresponsible, or who wanted to try to make easy money, get high, and enjoy life in completely the wrong way. You heard Liza's sigh beside you as you approached the crowd, the smell of cigarette and vehicle smoke flooding your nostrils as you both searched for anything suspicious. Or someone, as just about everyone looked suspicious out there.
"Don't separate yourself from me, please" Liza grabbed your arm as you began to walk between people, engrossed in the scene in search of a target. Your friend's voice was right beside you, but it seemed that your brain was working frantically along with your eyes around everything and everyone that passed by you.
Some friendly smiles, nods, and even whistles. You both heard everything while you were there, and you even swore you heard Liza fake an urge to vomit when a guy shouted 'hot' at her. That made you laugh, anyway.
"Oh, shit" the voice broke your thoughts when you felt a hard thump on your arm – which Liza wasn't holding. This caused you to stop walking and consequently, your friend's body also bumped against yours.
"Fuck" you whispered, feeling a slight pain.
"Sorry" the voice was deeper, perhaps closer to you, and then your eyes stared at the figure in front of you. The boy had a shy smile on his lips "Are you hurt?"
"No" you replied.
"Yes" Liza almost screamed as she ran her hand over her shoulder where it had hit her body "Don't you watch where you're going?"
"I've already apologized" he laughed ungraciously "But you two were hurrying around a lot…"
"Watching us?" Liza raised one of her eyebrows to look at the boy. You just watched in silence as your eyes searched for something else besides the boy and his friend in their little argument.
"Yeah" he said sincerely "Not least because you two look new to me around here" he straightened the jacket he was wearing, looking at Liza and then at you "I'm Jake, by the way."
"Hi, clueless Jake" Liza smiled at him "I'm Liza, and this is my friend y/n."
You waved at him, greeting him after he waved back.
"So" Jake – you heard the boy's name right – put his hands on the leather of his jacket and looked around this time "I'm sure this is the first time you two have been around here?"
A little silence. If he, some boy noticed this, perhaps you two were very out of place in your mission. Looking different was not something that was in your plans. You had frequented many places like that, you worked daily with people of that type, and you had to know how to behave, at least.
"Maybe" you shrugged, taking the line since you knew Liza would continue to be on a war footing with the boy "My cousin ran here once, so we got interested and came to check it out."
"Your cousin?" Jake looked surprised, smiling when you agreed "Did he win any races?"
"No" you feigned disappointment "So it's kind of irrelevant" the boy seemed to agree and not pursue the subject. Maybe if you had said he had won something, Jake might even know. People who won that sort of thing tended to be known, and you didn't want to risk saying some name that the boy could swear he'd never heard.
"I think it would be cool if you two joined us at that booth" Jake pointed a little further away from where you were standing "I'm over there with some other friends, if you don't mind."
"We do mind, yes" Liza spoke again, you rolled your eyes as Jake let out a muffled laugh.
"We don't mind, thank you, Jake" you quickly covered Liza's mouth before she ran her tongue across your palm for you to get her out of there. Once you did, the two of you followed Jake to where he had indicated, and the booth looked very cozy. There was food and drink to be had, a weighing rack next to it with some tools, and a young man had just arrived.
"Hey Jake, you've got company" he smiled showing all his teeth "Hi!"
You and Liza waved at him, the boy smiling even more.
"I'm Jungwon" the boy looked so young you wondered if he could be there.
"Those are y/n" Jake pointed in your direction, and you smiled when he smiled back "And that little hotty is Liza."
"Fuck you" she hissed.
"I see you've already made friends" Jungwon laughed after Liza almost advanced on Jake, but you held her back "Well, we need you for a few seconds, all right?"
"Yes" Jake agreed "I'll be right back, you two can make yourselves at home" he left just as quickly as he appeared in front of you and Liza.
"Is this our chance?" she whispered.
"If you stop picking on a stranger" you whispered back "He might be our chance to come back here more often and try to find Kye."
"Sure, without dislocating my shoulder next time" you and she talked in whispers, fearing that someone would overhear them and their disguises would be completely blown.
"I'm back!" Jake announced.
Liza was already complaining about your annoying voice when you turned in his direction. And you swore your heart almost burst out of your mouth at the sight of the boy he was with. It was no longer Jungwon who walked beside you, but a tall, dark-haired, fair-skinned boy. Every curve of his face was beautifully drawn, and you cursed yourself for paying so much attention that you noticed he had a mole on his nose. That dot was so beautiful and gave a unique charm to his face.
"Girls, this is Sunghoon" he smiled at his friend and Liza was the first to nod. You stood static for a few seconds, just listening to Jake say your names to the boy.
"Jake" his voice… Shit, it was so low and powerful, you thought your legs were shaking at that very moment "You know we can't bring anyone here."
You heard as he pulled his friend by the shoulders. His countenance was serious and cold, but at the same time concerned as he spoke to Jake.
"I know, but—" Jake nibbled on his lower lip "They looked lost, and I accidentally bumped into—"
"Were you two hurt?" Sunghoon asked.
"No" you said.
"Yes" Liza then spoke "I could have dislocated my shoulder."
"But it didn't, right?" for the first time since Sunghoon appeared in your field of vision, you noticed a quick smile on his lips when Liza denied it, hearing Jake's victorious laugh next "Good. My idiot friend apologizes to you, but I don't think it's a suitable place for the two of you."
"Why?" you asked without thinking next. The words were soon out of your mouth, and Sunghoon's gaze pierced your eyes.
"Look around" he pointed around, slowly until he reached you "You've never been here before and this place is too dangerous, I think you'd better go home."
"You should too if it's dangerous" you shrugged.
"I can't" Sunghoon mirrored your gesture, shrugging as well "I work here and I'm much more used to this kind of thing."
"So you're kicking me out of a public place?"
"Technically it's not public, you have a card to get in here, anyway" he smiled without showing his teeth "I suggest you go home, it's better."
And having said that he left, giving Jake a light punch on the shoulder before disappearing between some trucks.
"Well…" Jake scratched the back of his head a little awkwardly, trying to explain what had just happened. It was clear that he had called Sunghoon to meet you and Liza, but he didn't seem too happy about making new friends.
"Sorry about that, Sunghoon is just…"
"A jerk" you spoke up.
"He's overwhelmed, it's a tiring job" Jake bit his lip again, he seemed a little unsure of his words "But deep down he likes to make friends."
"Then we came on the wrong day" Liza muttered.
"Sure" he was being friendly with her for the first time since they met "How about you come next time? I'll leave my contact info and we can meet up."
"Without breaking our shoulder next time" Liza held out her phone for Jake to write down his, and quickly did so, nodding and saying she would go after Sunghoon, thanking him for the conversation in no time.
"So? What do you think?" Liza asked.
"That Sunghoon is such an overbearer" your blurt came out angrily, Liza frowning as the two of you walked away from the booth you were standing at minutes ago "Really, does he own all this stuff to think he can send us away?"
Liza laughed next. You stared at her and stopped walking midway, waiting for her to conclude her thought.
"Calm down y/n, stop picking on a stranger, he could be our key to Kye," you hated it when people used your words against you. And Liza was doing just that in that second when you walked back through people. At no time did it cross your mind and your friend's mind to leave, even though you knew you might run into Sunghoon and the fury in his eyes. But this seemed to urge you even more to stay, after all, you were on a mission and in search of information. Not to please an extremely handsome and attractive boy you had just met.
Tumblr media
Your gaze drifted to the photo right in front of you, sighing heavily as you ran your hand through your hair restlessly.
"Another body?" Changmin nibbled the inside of his cheek trying to keep his lips closed, not showing any kind of reaction. But it was impossible, he heard Liza say that they already counted nine people counting the one the MLI had just sent to your table.
"This is getting more and more serious" you closed your eyes for a second, at which point Changmin thought it best to move the photo away from you and close the yellow folder, taking it for himself.
"Maybe it's not him directly" Liza walked into the room she shared with you and a few other people, including Changmin. She had a cardboard holder in her hands containing two glasses, the third she carried in her other hand, sipping slowly "What if the drug is so strong that it's killing people?"
"Do you guys think it could be that?" her question came out more like a whisper, but the other two in the room heard it perfectly.
Liza handed the drinks to you and Changmin, you both thanked her for the coffee and started drinking as you went to your respective tables to start your day.
"I don't know" Liza's desk was right across from yours, so you two were able to keep a slightly more discreet conversation going. But you don't mind sharing it with Changmin since the room only had the three of you there. And it would stay that way for a long time.
"Maybe it is" Changmin interspersed his gaze between his coffee and his computer screen, swiveling in chair as he sighed quickly "First, we need to get the results of the samples that are in the lab…"
"How soon can we get them?" you asked.
"That I don't know" he placed his cup on the table, turning chair in the direction you and your friend were standing "It's been a few weeks since Soonyoung took a sample and so far he hasn't returned."
"Can you call him so we can expedite this?" Changmin merely agreed, picking up his cell phone to dial his friend's number in a moment. You turned your attention to some notes while Liza searched for something among the papers on her desk.
Momentarily the room was silent, just a few clicks on the computer, the coffee cup banging slowly against the table as one of you lifted it to your lips to drink. Your concentration on your work was so great that it was only interrupted by the sound of Liza's cell phone.
Her gaze moved from the papers to her friend quickly, turning her attention to the recent paperwork from the latest case. Rereading information about the latest victim and how he was found.
"I don't believe it!" Liza almost screamed, you just couldn't tell if it was from surprise or anger. Or both together.
"What?" you and Changmin asked at the same moment.
She didn't answer in words, she just reached for her device for you to pick up, and at that second the only boy in the room got up to go to her side. He also wanted to see what was on Liza's cell phone and why she was acting like that.
His laugh came out too loud. You were sure of it because Changmin cringed and your friend rolled her eyes, huffing and throwing her head back.
It was a message from Jake.
hi, it's me, Jake. It's Liza's number, right?
"I'll answer that it was a mistake" she tried to grab the cell phone from your hand, but you deflected.
"What? You gave him your number."
"Not to mention that it could be very helpful in the investigations" Changmin added.
"Oh, sure" Liza looked at her empty coffee cup, wondering to herself if she should get up and get another one at the police station snack bar "An idiot like him might have some connection to Kye or whatever that shit is."
"You don't know" the boy shrugged, taking Liza's phone for himself and quickly unlocking it. Intimacy sucks, you thought, because Changmin knew both of your passwords, and in the sequel, you knew his too.
"Changmin, what—"
"Okay, sent" he smiled showing all his teeth, handing the cell phone to the girl who just looked at the message check. It had indeed been sent.
"You little shit, son of a—"
"Hey" you said louder to end that little argument that would start, as Changmin had already gone over to Liza's table to hug her by the shoulders and plant kisses on the girl's cheek. This would irritate her even more.
"What? If she wouldn't do it, me or you had to" Changmin bit Liza's cheek before turning away and walking over to her table "And I decided to take the lead because you weren't going to make it either." Mental note: hating how much Changmin was right.
You didn't say anything else for a while, just reaching out to see the answer he had given instead of the owner of the device.
Jake, hi. Yes, it's me! How have you been?
You tried to read it in your friend's voice, laughing quietly because she would probably be rolling her eyes if you said it to her in person. And certainly her cheeks wouldn't be as flushed as they were at that moment.
"I think I'll get some more coffee" you readied yourself, the two in the room also asking for more before you left for the coffee shop. Hoping that Changmin and Liza wouldn't destroy the office while you were gone.
Tumblr media
Sunghoon finished cleaning the tool and threw it into the steel box along with the others, the old tattered cloth on the table was used to try and get the remaining dirt off his hands as well.
"You finished there?" Jay glanced at his friend, Sunghoon just agreed when he finally looked at him "The boss asked for help on this bike and two others for tomorrow. Do you want to help me?"
"Sure, I can help you" then he smiled at his friend. Jay smiled back, nodding and asking Sunghoon for the rag so he could clean his hands as well.
"He's happy that finally the races are working out, you know" as Jay checked all the day's work, Sunghoon followed him through the workshop to the back of the establishment. There it was more private and they could rest with more privacy from the busy day.
Not that the boys didn't like it, it was something that was already part of them. But once in a while it was normal to want a little quiet when you saw people all the time. Talked to people all the time. Dealt with so many people all the time.
"Just a few unforeseen things that came up last time" Jay was still talking as he went to the fridge to get a beer. He offered it to Sunghoon, who accepted with a small smile before taking the cold bottle between his fingers.
"Which ones?" he asked really curious.
"Oh, you know" Jay shrugged, opening his bottle and drinking some. The other followed his movements "Two people who attended there were found dead the next day. The reason is not known."
Sunghoon had heard of course. With Jake and Jungwon as his best friends, it was impossible not to know about something going on over there.
"They said the police are investigating because the bodies were found very close to here."
"And they want to change the location of the next race to avoid conflict?" Sunghoon took a long sip of his beer, feeling the bitterness go down his throat.
"No one has said anything so far, but I think so," the two of them just stood in silence after Jay spoke, savoring the cold beer as they thought for a while.
Not that there was much to think about, but seeing all that going on was not so pleasant. Their work was already, in a way, not pleasant at all. Having something to impede their livelihood and their way of making money worried them. Sunghoon and Jay got tired of counting how many opportunities they had to get better jobs. Real jobs, as he had always heard his grandmother say. But that way it was much easier and faster, and with the amount of money Sunghoon got he could provide an extremely comfortable life for his grandmother and his younger sister, his only concerns.
"Hey, man" Sunghoon snapped out of his reveries as he looked forward. Jake's smile shone right in front of his eyes. The boy smiled next, coming back to reality when he noticed that his beer was now in the hand of his newly arrived friend.
"Hey" he continued smiling "How long have you been here?"
"About two minutes, I thought you were paralyzed" he laughed and handed the beer to Sunghoon again "But I came to bring some information."
"Say, gossip" Jay joked, and Jake quickly cussed him out before throwing himself on the two-seater couch in the workshop.
"They're staying at the race site next week" he had his eyes closed, as if relaxing from a long day of work. Which consisted only of counting all the money the boss was getting, from all possible places. It wasn't a menial thing, anyway, but the amount of numbers Jake had to deal with all the time made his head spin.
"Really?" the other two asked at the same time, Jake opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling.
"Really" he answered them both "Three new people have joined and the boss doesn't think it will be necessary to change, not least because even with the latest events, no cars have been seen prowling the streets we use during the night."
They looked at each other for a while, now Jake straightened up on the couch to look at the other two as well.
"By the way" he licked his lips to continue talking, a smile planting on his lips "I think I have company for the next race."
"Wow" Jay looked excited, smiling in anticipation as Sunghoon rolled his eyes, but laughed at the other two who seemed to be amused as Jake pulled his cell phone out of his pocket "Who is it?"
"Liza, I bumped into her last time" Jake showed the message to Jay, at which point Sunghoon didn't know why he was so tense.
"Did you guys exchange phone numbers with each other?" he asked, watching his friend agree with a nod and smile even wider as Jay read the friendly conversation the two were having "What's your problem?"
Jay stopped reading the messages, staring at Sunghoon as Jake got up from the couch to nonchalantly walk through the shop and over to the fridge.
"I don't have a problem, I just liked the girl" he shrugged, trying to see something other than a beer in there.
"Yeah, a girl who clearly never went on an illegal run" Sunghoon huffed.
"Hey man, chill" Jay tried to intervene "Maybe she knows what she's getting into."
"Not her, and not her friend" he continued with his gruff tone, Jake didn't care from the start and Jay seemed a little concerned.
"Since when do you care about that kind of thing?" Jake opted to drink a can of soda lost in the bottom of the fridge. The tsk the can make as it opened caught the attention of Sunghoon who, until then, was looking at Jay.
"Since when did they smell of innocence in that middle of idiotic people…"
"You were right there in the middle" Jay wanted to lighten the mood a bit, maybe that would help.
"Yeah, he's the dumbest of them all" Jake smiled. And Jay's thought of helping had gone down the drain, those two looked like dog and cat when they were together.
"Ah, you son of a bitch" Sunghoon shouted. His wildness was no longer as severe as before, maybe he was just swearing at Jake as he ran after him through the parked cars in the repair shop.
As they ran, Jay threw himself down on the couch and sighed so loudly that, if it hadn't been for the other two running and shouting curses, his sound would have echoed. And he felt relieved for the second time in the evening because his friends were there to lighten the mood of all the tension he had been under all day at work.
Tumblr media
The sound was highly strident, the loudspeakers of the tuned cars made the ground shake. You noticed how the whole place looked like an open-air nightclub, and in none of your days of life could you imagine being in something like this. Not even on business.
Your eyes searched for Jake since he was the one responsible for inviting you and Liza to the next race, which took a while to arrive considering the rush you and your team were in to start solving all the pieces of the puzzle.
"Did he text you again?" your voice came out low because Liza was right next to you. She then decided to take the device out of her pocket and unlock it to stare at the screen quickly.
"Nothing" the girl sighed "At least we are here and can try something… Do you approve, little shit?" Liza whispered into her fake brooch, where Changmin had implanted an imperceptible microphone.
"I definitely approve, love of my life" his voice came out of the headset you and Liza were wearing. Your turn to laugh, as your friend made fake vomit sounds at Changmin's declaration. These two were hilarious, you were grateful for that. Because they both made your days at the police station and in your position as chief less tense.
Changmin was such a lighthearted person, helping you in any way he could. He had a comforting smile and his feet on the ground, always keeping you steady when you thought the whole workload was heavy.
Liza was the opposite. She was short on patience, but funny because all her catchphrases always had a comic touch that made anyone laugh. That's why you and Changmin picked on each other. Besides being great friends, you both knew that it made you feel better. And they would do anything for you.
"Oh my god… Shit" Liza cursed pulling you out of your thoughts.
"What?" Changmin said into her headset.
"Shut up" she cursed again, you looked around until you found the reason for the outburst. And when that happened, a laugh came out of your throat.
Jake was standing right there, just a few people away. As he tried to look around for you and Liza, this gave you – and your friend, of course – time to examine him. His clothes were mixed with dark leather and a two-tone flannel. The black T-shirt paired with his pants, while his dark hair was nonchalantly tousled. And wind whipped against the strands and prevented him from looking steadily ahead, but that was no problem. Because he had found you.
Waving, Jake then sidestepped a few people until he ran into the two of you.
"Hi" he was so smiling that you could swear if you did that for more than a minute your jaw would hurt.
"Hi Jake, thanks for the invitation" you were the first to speak since Liza had been practically silent the whole time. Jake then nodded, saying that you didn't even have to thank him because it was an invitation from the heart, as he turned to his friend.
"And you, aren't you going to say hi to me too?" Liza's gaze fell to the boy's lips, which nibbled incessantly. You laughed out loud and that seemed to get her attention, who blinked a few times before swallowing dryly.
"Oh, hi Jake" she finally verbalized "I… Thanks for the invitation too."
"Sure, any time" he cast a wink in Liza's direction.
"Oh my god, she's going to explode" you made a point of whispering into the job at a moment Jake was furtively staring at his friend. And hearing Changmin's almost outrageous laughter from the other side, you tried all your control not to laugh along with him.
"Okay, I wanted to apologize for the last time we met" Jake was speaking as he led you through the crowd. Some people bumping into each other accidentally, some trying to get in front of you, but nothing that he couldn't make way for you and Liza.
"Why, exactly?" you asked as soon as he stopped walking. A quieter side where only a few people were meeting. It looked like a place to hang out and drink, not in the crowd where everyone seemed to be doing drugs, kissing, and even selling and bartering. That was where you and Liza should be, for the cover you were in. But the spot that Jake had designed for the three of you was perfect for looking out over the crowd. That way you and Liza could identify some people to mark while you were there.
"For the treatment of my friend" he sounded so sincere that you almost let the feeling of compassion show, but being there was a cover and you wanted Liza to get her act together too.
"It's okay" Liza shrugged "You said he wasn't on his best day, right?"
"He rarely is" Jake joked, and you and Liza giggled "But today I think it will be better, he has almost no work to do."
Agreeing was the only answer, as you both pondered answering because at least you knew the boys. Jake was quite talkative and that was good, because he made conversation almost the entire time, even offering to get drinks for you and Liza. You gladly accepted and waited for him to return with a small bucket of ice.
"Soda, beer, I don't know what you girls drink. So…" Jake placed it on the makeshift metal table that was next to you "Make yourselves at home" he smiled.
You and Liza opted for the soda because you were on a mission – your friend was thwarted, because as soon as she reached for the beer, she felt your deadly gaze on her – so it was better not to risk it. Jake had also grabbed a soda to go with them.
"So Jake" your voice was a little louder because of the music, but it could still be heard. He looked in your direction, nodding to show he was listening to you "Why are you here, do you run?"
"Oh, me? No" he laughed gracelessly "I just do my job."
"And what is that?" Liza asked, muffling her voice in the soda can.
He seemed to flinch a little, looking away quickly. At that same instant, your friend glanced in your direction, it didn't last long because Jake was already looking back at them next.
"Uh, is it something illegal?" she tried to play it down, to show a relaxed tone so as not to sound too suspicious or make him uncomfortable.
"I wouldn't say illegal" he shrugged quickly "But I mess with money, I love numbers."
Cutting it short, which was no lie, was Jake's job. He just didn't have to say where the money he worked counting came from.
"And you guys" it was his turn to ask "You said your cousin ran once, so you like that sort of thing?"
"Ah, not much. But it's interesting that kind of place."
"Interesting? Why?" Jake seemed really curious, but you didn't know how to answer that. It wasn't your type to get into character, but lucky for you, Changmin would go over some things to answer and even give some hints if you two forgot something.
However, unlike you, Liza might as well think of something quickly or even incorporate something Changmin had said. But in her own way.
"Because it's not every day you meet a handsome guy wearing leather and perfectly fine" just came out of Liza's lips, and she didn't realize how big of a shit she said until she saw Jake's face turn red. It looked like he was burning and on fire.
Had she just flirted with him or was that the cover character?
"I swear to God, I want to scream" Changmin interspersed laughter and a few sobs with his mechanized voice in the headphones you were wearing.
"Right, well…" you started to speak, unsure whether to intervene or let Jake continue looking away and searching for something to answer Liza at length. But you quickly saw that the attention of both of you ran to the boys arriving to greet Jake.
"Oh, I remember you guys" one of them smiled gently. You tried to search your memory for his name, but you didn't even have to when he hissed as soon as he approached you "I'm Jungwon, remember?"
"Of course!" you sounded equally excited to him, who held out his hand to greet you. As soon as he greeted Liza as well, he made room for you to look at the other boys.
"Sunghoon, Jay?" Jungwon called out to them, both of them standing next to Jake, but equally looking at you and Liza.
"Hi, I'm Jay" he nodded, his smile sneaky and one of his hands resting on his belly "You guys want something to eat? I just got out of the workshop and I'm starving."
"Working still?" Jake rolled his eyes.
"That son of a bitch wanted to tweak the moto last minute, thinking the boss will like the result" Jay was a talker, and that made you and your friend thankful because he barely noticed. Unfortunately, the other quiet one had taken the hint that your eyes were on him.
Nudging Jay lightly, showing that he had talked too much, the boy's eyes went wide when he noticed two pairs of new looks in his direction.
"Did I say, boss? I mean—"
"It's okay" you fought the urge to be firm, you took a deep breath not to pull out your badge and pin them there to take them to the police station for information. Then you just held back and stared at Liza for a short time "We know these things go on around here, so just ignore it, let's pretend we never heard anything."
"Actually you shouldn't even be here" Sunghoon spoke up for the first time since he had approached you.
"Wow… And why is that?" your arms crossed, in an attempt to avoid gesturing too much. A habit from when you were nervous.
"Look around, doll" the nickname came out of your lips with such debauchery that you rolled your eyes.
"I'm looking, and from what I can see it's a street. A public place. Are you going to stop me and my friend from hanging out here?"
He opened his mouth once, twice, even three times to try to answer something, but just huffed and decided to lean back against the table where Jake had put the drinks for you for a while. Jay huffed afterward, holding his friend's shoulders to try to calm him down.
Meanwhile, Liza got into an animated conversation with Jake and Jungwon, the three of them looking like old friends, and you practically rolled your eyes when you saw the angelic, smiling face drinking a beer. Appearances were deceiving you that night.
You wanted to keep paying more attention to the conversation of the three, or even look around to record some faces that were handing out illegal stuff around the party. But the only thing you could concentrate on was Sunghoon's angry, boiling gaze in your direction. And how he didn't take his eyes off you even when Liza and Jungwon called you over for more drinks.
Tumblr media
Changmin wrote everything down on his computer, tracking all the equipment that you and Liza were using and it was very well hidden. He tried to get information about the boys you talked to all night and the most he could find was that Jay and Sunghoon actually worked in a workshop. So far, nothing illegal or too suspicious to put you and your friend in the police positions and make the arrests. You were already getting tired because everything seemed in vain. Everything went round and round and back to square one.
Liza was equally tired of it. Her look of impatience for some information was glaring, even though she was taking it very well and trying to get some information out of Jake and Jungwon, with whom she had talked for the longest time. Even Jay – the one responsible for releasing one of the biggest pieces of information so far – talked a lot with the two of you. He even gave you the phone number of his garage and said that you could go to him if you had a problem with your car, or whatever means of transportation you could use.
I just hope the police station car doesn't give any problems, you thought. Because going with the screaming police emblem in a garage that worked for clandestine things, was not so good. Even more so if you or Liza were driving.
"Look at that, it's about to start" Jay announced the first race of the night, before the boy even yelled over the microphone that the racers should start hurrying.
Liza glared at you and vice versa, maybe everyone's attention on the race could leave the place a little emptier for the two of you to look for more clues.
"Do you guys usually watch from somewhere?" you asked.
"We have a VIP area, want to join us?" Jungwon was always so helpful and helpful, you wondered what his role was in that place. Why couldn't someone so angelic be there?
"We'd love to" Liza smiled "But can I use the bathroom first? I think I drank too much soda" she gave a small laugh which Jungwon followed.
"Sure, I'll show you where it is" he told the boys that he would meet them later, but Jake opted to go along as Sunghoon and Jay said they would wait for you all at the meeting point.
The way to the restroom had been smooth, not least because the space looked abandoned. But not the way it looked inside because the lights seemed to be newly put on. The graffiti on the walls gave the place its identity, along with the pink neon light that made you and Liza giggle at your appearance in the mirror's reflection.
"I feel like a teenage girl in a suburban nightclub" she whispered, you had to agree. Keeping your voice down as the two boys waited for you outside.
Entering the same bathroom stall, you sat on the toilet while Liza pulled her cell phone out of her pocket to type some things for Changmin. Like some license plates, some symbols that she – discreetly – took pictures of. Even some sayings on the bathroom walls might help.
"So much stuff" Changmin spoke after being quiet for so long, just waiting for you two to get in touch with him "I'll see what I can get and talk to you guys later."
"I don't think that will work" Liza whined "My phone is running out of battery."
"Mine too" you whispered to both of them "What are we going to do?"
The boy on the other side was quiet for a few minutes, seeming to think of the perfect solution to be able to help you both.
"Okay, your phone tracker is still picking up here on the computer" he clicked a few times, and the sound of typing was quite audible to both of you "If your headphones discharge, send me a message or an SOS, and I can track them if you need help."
You were thankful for Changmin's speed and insight, without him on the team no one would have known what to actually do. Everyone fit together somehow.
"Seriously, I owe you one" Liza said.
"Flirting with another guy and owing me one… Really, Liza?"
"Fuck you" she heard him laugh, as did you, who rolled her eyes after saying goodbye to Changmin and both taking off their headphones.
"Flush so as not to look suspicious" your voice came out low as the other was about to leave the bathroom. And then she flushed to wait a little longer until she came out and was followed by you.
"Hi. Are you okay now?" Jake asked as soon as you and Liza were out of the bathroom, both of you agreeing with sincere smiles.
"Great, then let's go" Jungwon darted over to give you and Liza his arm to hold, and you both accepted. As a way to feel more secure.
"Hey, what about me?" Jake whined a little behind, practically being forgotten by the three of you.
"That's for bumping into me" Liza hummed.
"But it was you who bumped into me" he shouted back.
"Are these two going to be like this forever?" Jungwon whispered in your direction as Jake and Liza began shouting taunts at each other. You cringed at him, laughing softly.
"I hope not" you replied in the same tone as him, then decided to engage in a side conversation with Jungwon while the other two were still shouting.
A part of you was looking forward to the outcome of the whole mission because you loved your job more than anything. But on the other hand, you were beginning to feel uncomfortable – I didn't mean to say that you felt bad – because you were lying to people who were welcoming you. Jungwon and Jake were proof of that. But if they were there, maybe they weren't that good either.

Before The Cameras
A story for the ones who wonder if there was love between Hank and Nancy Loomis. Inspired by Amphetamine by Everclear in their So Much For The Afterglow Album. Please tell me if you want me to make this official and I’ll change the title!!:)
Young Hank walks into a crowded den, music blasting at every corner imaginable and classmates brushing by him every second.
Why is he even here?
He wishes he could just go home but he didn’t want to be a let down to his so called friends, as they trot away from him leaving him to rot in a high school party he wasn’t even welcome to. Nobody liked Hank, he liked that though, he made sure to keep away from the kids his age but someone he’d charmed some of them because as stated before, he somehow made a small circle of friends.
They always go to him when they have to talk because he taught himself how to act like he cares. Constantly saying their name, giving the occasional “Oh, really?” And the little statements to make it seem like he agreed. In reality he does not care, he’s too busy with himself and his future. He takes a sip of water he snatched off the counter as he scans the room filled with drunk teens, fucking ridiculous. He turns around and as soon as he does some girl spills her drink on him. He stops completely, looking down at his sweater and jeans, he huffs aggressively and pats himself down, he glances up at the girl and she’s staring at his sweater. She has curly hair and bright brown eyes, her pained nails cover his mouth.
“Thanks. I really appreciated that.” He said to her silent reaction, she looked into his eyes and busted out laughing. He jerked his head back and his face scrunched up.
“Oh, shit, I’m sorry- not very nice of me, huh? C’mon, follow me. I’ll just give you one of my dad’s sweaters.”
“What? What the- no. No, you won’t be doing that.” He snaps at her but she grabs his wrist, tugging him behind her. He wanted to smack her hand off of him but he didn’t, instead he quietly glared holes into the back of her skull. She must of be the host for the party. The girl walks them up some stairs and walks into a huge bedroom, as soon as she let go he stood still. She left him at the door way. Tempted to leave he leaned on the doorframe, crossing his arms.
“What size are you?” She opens a door that’s across the master bed and from what Hank can see, it’s filled with clothing.
“Medium. Don’t do this. Seriously, there’s not point, I can just go home.” He looks back down stairs, this was his excuse to go home and listen to anything but this trash.
“Shut up.” The girl snapped at him and he looked back into the room, suddenly she was right up on him, holding a dark blue sweater. “I think this fits you and your gloomy look, what do you think, Loomis?”
“What? Where’s your manners?” Hank pushed the sweater away. “Whoa, wait how do you-“
“We’re in the same math class.” Her brown eyes stared into his, “I sit… sit next to you?” She mumbles. He felt his body freeze up, shit, she looked upset at the fact he didn’t even know who the fuck she was. He sigh and smile, fake and wide.
“Kyes… right?” He said through his teeth.
“You have a ugly smile.” She smiled warmly, genuine and confident which made his drop.
“You have an ugly tone.” Hank snapped at her,
“Here, just take the damn sweater.” The girl shoves the sweater into his chest. “I’ll make sure no one peeks.” She giggled and walks a little past him, watching him step into the bedroom before she closes the door behind him.
————————————————————
Hank walks out the room and the girl is waiting right there, like she said she would. He stares at her as she obliviously stares at a wall, he sighs and she turns around.
“I was totally right, can you frown more?” And to that little joke he did. She laughed with a little snort at the end, which made him jump and scrunch his face up again. She covered her mouth and looked away, waving her hand at Hank. “Don’t look at me!” She laughs and gives another snort at the end again, Hank starts laughing. Usually it would be at someone but it feels like he’s laughing with her.
“It’s fine. Its cute, Kyes.” He says smugly, crossing his arms again. A little teasing never hurt anyone, it’s been awhile since he’s been approached by a girl who hasn’t scream in his face for being a “dick”. She shakes her head and looks at him once her laughing fit is over.
“Do you even know my name?” She’s breathless. He shakes his head no and looks behind her, pretending to listen and block her out but unfortunately he’s hooked on her voice. He hesitates and looks her in her eyes,
“…Nancy Kyes.” She states.
“Yeah? Cool.” She nods,
“Mhm.” Silence falls on them and Hanks uncomfortably looks away.
“You’re boring.” She says, biting her nail and he stares at a wall, that hurt. No one has said that before. “I like you.” No one has also said that, he snaps his head at Nancy, blinking at her. He’s starting to breathe heavily.
“What?” He squeaks out, god, he must look so pathetic.
“I’ve liked you since the start of the year. You’re so devoted, you’d be so.. amazing as a dad. I think I love you.”
“You- you don’t even know me!” He protests, “Are you crazy? Dumb? WHO the fuck in their right mind likes Hank—fucking—Loomis?”
“You’re lucky, I’m in my left mind! Im so surprised you even came to my party, I mean yeah I did invite your friends here on purpose to hope they’d bring you but..” he started block out everything she was saying, not that he wanted to, his mind was racing. This was a first. He thought it would be a never and he wouldn’t mind being alone forever, shit. Could this be his wife one day? This crazy girl who is just infatuated with him? “…and when I saw you standing there, I.. I had to do something.”
“So you spilt your drink on my sweater so I’d follow you up here and you’d have a chance to talk to me?” He blurts out, he sounds pissed.
“Yeah.” They just stare at each other for a while.
“I like you too.” He said, he didn’t know if he actually did but this could be his only chance. His only chance to actually have a family and continue the Loomis legacy. He awkwardly held his hands out and she smiled and walked up to him, grabbing his face and leaning into him. Her lips on his, he tensed up as Nancy rolled her tongue on his lip but he slowly leaned back into it. His hands close around her waist and he leans into her passionately.
Maybe if he just went home. Maybe if he just smacked her hand. None of it would’ve happened

If you’re still taking drabble prompts, I would love to request some Yona. As for the prompt…Hak loves being bossed around and we haven’t seen much of that lately. If you think about it, you’d be doing him a favor by giving him what he wants if you write this. (This does not need to be nsfw if you don’t want it to be.)
Anger scorches the cavern of her chest as Kye-sook’s dark robes melt into the shadows and out of her sight.
“I remember when you used to boss me around like that.”
The corner of Hak’s mouth turns in that infuriating smirk that sends her up the wall. Not too long ago she’d strangle him when she saw it. Now her first two fingers hook in the cord of his necklace, and with barely pressure at all, he lowers himself to her. One would think it would take more for such a big man to bend.
“You already know who’s boss.”

Book Review: Quiver by Rachel Spangler
My angst loving friends, I have the book for you. Quiver is a second chance, celebrity, small town, sports and ice queen romance all rolled into one beautifully healing love story.
Kylie Manchester’s once blossoming acting career is waning. In an attempt to save a big audition she tells the director about her amazing skills as a mounted archer… too bad she isn’t one. But she does know one, a champion, only getting the ex-love of her life to agree to help her will be only slightly less painful than actually working with her everyday.
The tension between Kye and Fletcher flares like a wildfire from the start. Their borderline obsession with their work is both what broke them apart, and kept them moving forward for the last 12 years. Fletcher agrees to help Kylie out of a need to give her what she needs to leave as quickly as possible.
The very slow coming together is painful and beautiful, you will want to yell at them and cry for them more than once. I would consider both of the main characters ice queens to different degrees, and their well-earned walls are thick. Without their connection to each other both women suffered in their personal lives never truly able to move on, but unwilling to move backwards.
The combat sport of mounted archery plays a major role in the book and is honestly just so cool. Every scene was descriptive and made me feel like I was there, in the barn, watching the horses and arrows fly by.

Debut
“One more week before school starts,” Sam commented. Kye grunted and hunched his shoulders. Despite what he had said about wanting to go, Kye could not hide his uneasiness towards going to school. Sam didn’t blame him. To be honest, Sam felt just as nervous, perhaps more so since not only would he be new to the school, but he would have Kye to worry about too. While Kye could probably manage interacting with most students on his own, as long as Sam supervised, if there were bullies in the school it could be a disaster. Kye could not control himself around criminals, and to him, bullies would be nothing more than criminals.
Sam shook his head. It did no good to worry. Besides, he and Kye had been going out more often, in an attempt to get Kye more acclimated to society. This evening, they had gone downtown to see a movie, one that Sam had deemed would not rile up Kye. The only "bad guy" in the movie had been a tornado, and natural disasters did not enrage Kye as villains did.
Sam turned to ask Kye what he thought of the movie, but Kye suddenly turned his head towards an alley, a fierce look entering his eyes. Dread gripped Sam.
“No, wait,” Sam started to say, reaching out to stop Kye, but the boy had already taken off, leaping down the alley. Gritting his teeth, Sam raced after him, pulling out his phone and dialing the police. If Kye was acting this way, it was because he had sensed a criminal. The best thing to do was to call the police and try to hold Kye back from killing the villain until they arrived. “Hello, officer? There’s a crime happening on Lyle St. off of 43rd. Please come as soon as you can!” Sam said into the phone as he raced around a corner.
Three men stood, holding someone against the wall. They had turned, however, to see Kye approaching them with a snarl and eyes glowing, just like when Kye had rescued Sam. “Kye, don’t kill them!” Sam yelled, running over. With another snarl, Kye slammed a fist into one of the men’s faces, throwing him back against the other alley wall. The other men stepped back in surprise.
“You want your faces to be mush as well?” Kye said threateningly, lifting his fist again. The men, however, backed away, faces pale with terror. As they stepped away from the wall, Sam saw that they had been accosting a girl, probably around Sam’s age. She sat trembling, staring wide eyed at Kye.
In concern, Sam knelt next to her and asked, “Are you all right?”
Turning her wide-eyed gaze to Sam, she whispered, “Yes.”
“The police will be here soon,” Sam reassured her. He glanced up to check on Kye, but to his relief, the vampire was merely glaring at the men and snarling, keeping them pinned to the opposite wall in terror. Kye was much better at restraining himself now than he had been when Sam had first become his caretaker. It had been almost impossible to keep him from beating up the criminals before the police came, and Sam had almost given up the idea of taking Kye out in the city. Now it seemed Kye had learned to intimidate more than physically attack. Glancing at the girl, Sam felt some regret that she had seen Kye like this. It must be scary to her to be threatened by the men, then see what most people considered a monster.
It was not long before the police arrived and handcuffed the men, leading them away. They also took the girl, so they could ask her some questions and contact her parents. After asking Sam and Kye some questions, the two boys were dismissed with a caution to be careful out on the streets. As they finally walked down their own street, Sam sighed. He had hoped this would be an uneventful night, but of course that had not been the case. With a smile at Kye, however, he said, “Good job tonight, Kye.” Kye merely grunted and nodded, but flashed a grin back at his brother.
“Ready?” Sam asked, glancing at Kye.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” Kye mumbled, gazing anxiously beyond the school gates at the large building. They stood outside the school, other students streaming past them into the building, on the way to their classes. It was their first day. Taking a deep breath, Sam and Kye stepped onto the school grounds and up to the school building’s double doors. Though Sam had not been to this school before, seeing the classrooms with their rows of desks and the rows of lockers in the halls felt familiar and exciting, as he remembered his middle school. For Kye, however, it was overwhelming. So many other students, all chatting and laughing or rushing to their classrooms. Hunching his shoulders, Kye stuck close to Sam as they made their way to their first class, English.
When they entered, a girl sitting in the front row looked up and exclaimed, “Sam!”
“Lily? Fancy that, we’re in the same school,” Sam said, walking over to her desk. The brown-haired girl smiled.
“I thought you were homeschooled?” she asked.
“Well, we decided it was time to start public school again,” Sam explained.
Lily nodded, then smiled at Kye and said, “Kye wasn’t it? Nice to see you again.”
Kye nodded, his eyes flicking all about the classroom nervously. “He’s a little overwhelmed,” Sam said apologetically.
“I can understand,” Lily said sympathetically, then motioned to two desks next to her. “We get to pick our own seats today. Why don’t you sit up here? I like the front row, since you don’t have to see the backs of everyone else,” she said.
Sam thanked her, and he and Kye took their seats. Class started soon after that, and to Sam’s relief, Kye seemed to relax as the teacher continued. They made it safely through the morning classes, and by lunchtime, Sam began to feel hopeful.
At lunch, Lily introduced some of her friends to Sam and Kye. There was Morris, a lanky boy who like to joke around; Sarah, a tomboyish girl who was part of the theatre club and kept trying to convince the others to join; and Marissa, a quiet girl with long black hair. When Kye saw Marissa, he stiffened slightly. Sam couldn’t tell why, though there was something about the girl that seemed familiar. Halfway through their lunch, Kye leaned over and whispered in Sam’s ear, “She’s the girl we saved last week.”
Sam started. Looking at Marissa more closely, he suddenly remembered and felt uneasy. It could be problematic if Marissa recognized them as well. While it wasn’t the end of the world if people knew Kye was a vampire, Kye did not really like his identity being known, and it could deter people from wanting to interact with him. Perhaps Sam should try to meet with Marissa alone and ask her not to reveal Kye.
She beat him to it, however. As they exited the cafeteria, Marissa turned to him and said, “May I speak with you and Kye a moment?”
“Uh, sure,” Sam said nervously, and they walked to the side, into an empty hall.
Bowing her head politely, Marissa said, “I want to thank you both very much for saving me last week. My family is rather well off, and I’m often getting targeted as a ransom. Please let me know if there is any way I can repay you.”
“There’s no need for you to repay us,” Sam said hesitantly. “Though, if you wouldn’t tell anyone that Kye is a vampire…”
Marissa nodded. “Of course.” She smiled shyly and said, “By the way, you both were really cool then, when you faced those criminals. Anyway, thank you.” She bowed again and then hurried away.
Sam and Kye looked at each other. “Well,” Sam said with a sigh. “That went better than expected.”
Kye nodded, but looked thoughtful. “I wonder what she meant by cool,” he murmured.
With a grin, Sam teased, “Maybe she’s got a crush on you.”
Kye rolled his eyes and groaned, “Yeah right. Don’t make stuff up, Sam.” Sam laughed and they headed to their next class. The first day had gone well so far. If only it would stay that way.

HEY! READ THIS PEOPLE!
This is Past Ty (This was written on august 28th)
This is going to be super weird because I'm talking to the future but its how I do things.
Anyways, look. Today is my 18th birthday (September 9th). And I will have band practice from 9 to 5.
Normally people are happy for their sweet 18 but there were people who would be celebrating this day with me who are no longer around. And that really ruins the day for me thinking about how they would feel and knowing they aren't here. It's the hardest day to get away from dark thought outside practice.
this made my 16th and 17th birthday so horrible and I tend to want to forget about these days.
THATS WHERE YOU COME IN!
Even if you don't know me, show some love! It doesn't have to be off the walls crazy, just a little sign to myself in the future that things are okay and to be proud of this milestone. And knowing myself, I will forget I written this and queued it.
Does this make sense?
Write message to future Ty because past Ty told you.
To my future self: It's okay that Kye and Grandma and Grandpa Joe aren't here, they would be so proud and happy of you if they were still here. Hold your chin up, this day doesn't have to be tough for us. Make them proud and celebrate the day with people you love.
It's no longer your day, it's our day to celebrate! Throw a party, be dumb! Worry about trouble later, have fun today so you can look back at this day with happiness instead of darkness like the past 3 birthdays.
And stay away from knives, your clumsy. Don't cut any cake, just have someone else do it. Seriously, do not cut any cake. We don't need a repeat of last year!

Rubell Museum - DC - Jan 13 2024
A trip to the Rubell Museum was something to look forward to despite my new Doc Martens slicing up my ankles during my 10-minute walk from the Waterfront Metro station. Opened on Oct 29th, 2022, the DC location at 65 I St. SW brought Mera and Don Rubell's collection of post-1980 art from Miami to the DC's Southwest neighborhood. This would be my second time visiting with my first experience viewing the inaugural exhibition What's Going On?. The collection showcased many artists I was not familiar with. It was a treat discovering new and exciting art. For me, artists that I wanted to learn more about from my last visit were Chase Hall, Hernan Bas and Christina Quarles.

Christina Quarles
Detail: Fell to Earth (Felt to Pieces), 2018
Acrylic on Canvas
Taking advantage of the gorgeous and expansive space past the entrance, the museum mounted works by Alexandre Diop - a Franco-Senegalese artist who, according to the website, "uses discarded objects to create work that raises questions pertaining to sociopolitical, cultural and gender issues. Drawing inspiration from his European and African roots, he explores the legacies of colonialism and diaspora while tackling universal themes of ancestry, suffering, and historical violence". The open space with its large cathedral-esque windows floods the space with natural light, showcasing all the wonderful varied textures and highlighting all the materials that Diop uses in his work.
Tumblr media
Once you exit this room, you will enter a three-level building that was once part of Randall Junior High School, a historically Black public school that ceased operations in 1978. The Rubells purchased this historic site from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in 2010 for $6.5 million. The building was the site for the inaugural What's Going On? when the museum opened in 2022.
Although quite disorienting to navigate at first, each level essentially follows a radial floor plan. There will be an exhibit in the middle of the level when you first come, and then out in all directions are hallways that will lead to individual rooms with their own exhibits relating to the overall current exhibition - Singular Views: 25 Artists.
One of the biggest flaws in the architecture of the building or more importantly, how the architecture is utilized, is the decision to install art in the narrow hallways. These hallways doubtfully will pass the modern fire and safety code. Large enough to fit one individual through, there would often be two-dimensional works hanging on both sides of the wall. The proximity between the visitors and the works would make any conservator nervous. There is a serious bottleneck where a visitor must wait for another to pass through before entering these spaces. Needless to say, when there is a person waiting, one cannot help but exit in a hurried manner. This takes away any chance for close looking or truly connecting and appreciating the work.
Tumblr media
Overall, the exhibition was something you would come to expect of the Rubell Museum (so far that I have seen in DC): colorful, vibrant, electric and featuring young artists, some in their early or mid careers. The standouts this time for me were Amoako Boafo, Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe and Rozeal, whom I will be covering in separate posts so they each have their own spotlights.

Overwhelmed - nyt
Tumblr media
Pairing: Yuta x gn/enby OC (Kye) Contents: When the party gets too rowdy, Kye thought they had escaped the others by getting outside. They thought wrong. Warnings: overwhelmed oc, weed consuption, beer drinking Word count: 1.2k
A/N: Alright so I hated the original one so I took it down and rewrote it. I think this one is much better and I hope you guys like it too! Also I know I promised a masterpost for this series, it's coming, things just got out of hand lately but we're (hopefully) back on track
*This is purely a work of fiction. It is in no way meant to represent any idol in any way, shape or form.
Voices became louder, and Kye turned around, trying to see what was going on. Johnny was nowhere to be found, and Haechan and Mark had run off who knows where, leaving Kye alone with their thoughts in the middle of the very crowded living room. Doing their best to not bump into everyone, Kye tried to make their way out of the crowd and into the kitchen, where they figured they could have a moment for themself. Everyone else seemed to be going the opposite way, trying to peak at whatever was happening over there. Mumbling ‘sorry’s and ‘excuse me’s, Kye pushed through, ignoring as much as they could the loud and repetitive beat of the music.
A glass bottle broke, startling Kye, who spun around, spilling their drink all over someone’s shoes. Apologizing profusely, Kye kept backing up, abandoning the empty cup on their way. With the kitchen finally in sight, Kye cursed, seeing that it was just as crowded as everywhere else. The backdoor seemed like their best bet. When they got outside, they threw themself against the wall, out of breath.
“Kye? You alright?” Turning towards the voice, Kye saw Yuta, sitting on the concrete bench a bit further from the door. Kye nodded.
“In a minute,” they mumbled, but Yuta seemed to hear, since he didn’t push further. Closing their eyes, Kye tried to focus on their breathing.
If they were completly honest, Kye would have wanted any other frat brother out there right now. They didn’t have anything against Yuta, but they found him slightly intimidating. They had never really talked either, as Yuta was usually at work whenever Kye and Johnny met to work on their project. They were surprised Yuta even knew their name, given that the both of them had barely ever talked.
“Are you gonna be sick?" Yuta asked, and Kye shook their head. "You should probably sit down, then," he replied, patting the seat next to him. "I don't bite," he added, and Kye smiled, giving in.They went to sit with him, and he leaned back against the wall, bringing a joint to his lips. He really was beautiful, Kye thought. In the dim light from the patio's string lights, he looked like he was straight out of a movie. After all, his nickname was the Prince, and Kye thought whoever gave him that nickname were very right. Yuta glanced at them, and Kye looked away, feeling the heat burn their face. Fortunately for them, Yuta misread their reaction.
“Want a smoke?” He asked, stretching his arm towards them.
“Thanks,” Kye replied, taking a long drag, then very slowly blowing it out.
“Someone’s used to this,” Yuta joked.
“It’s one of the few things that help my overthinking brain to shut up sometimes,” Kye explained, and Yuta nodded.
“I get that. Do you feel better now, though? I can go and get you water."
“No, no, I’m good,” Kye paused, “and honestly… I’d rather not be alone right now. If you don’t mind,” Kye said quietly.
“I shall not leave your side, then,” Yuta said, and Kye smiled.
They sat in silence for a moment, the joint going back and forth between them. Yuta noticed how Kye was fidgeting with a strand of their ripped jeans, and Yuta handed them the joint again, then took off one of his necklaces, letting it dangle in front of Kye. It was a simple chain with a small feather carved in a black stone. Kye gave him a questioning look. “To play with. In stead of destroying your jeans. And your skin,” he said, noticing the raw skin around Key’s nails. Kye hesitantly took the necklace, running their fingers along the feather. It felt cool and soft, and their focus fully on the piece of jewelry for a moment, examining every side and smooth curve on the little object. Yuta watched them, a fond smile on his lips.
“Do you like it?” He asked, and Kye nodded. He thought they looked very cute, staring at his necklace as if it was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen, analyzing every single part of it. He almost let himself tell them to keep it, but he cleared his throat instead. “So what was happening back there?”
“No idea. Everyone got loud and started pushing around to get a better view so I just dipped,” Kye explained.
“Hmm. Probably just Haechan doing a keg stand or something.”
“That would add up, yeah,” Kye laughed. “What are you doing smoking all alone out here?”
“Couldn’t find anyone to come with me.”
“In a frat house full of partying uni students? Yeah right." A beat passed. "You didn’t ask me,” Kye stated, eyes glued to the feather.
“I didn’t know you smoke. In fact, I don’t know you at all. Other than your name, of course.”
“What do you mean you don’t know me? We see each other all the time!” Kye said, falsely offended.
“Yeah, like half a second.”
“That’s on you, really,” Kye said, and Yuta laughed, happy to see them more comfortable.
“Hey, I don’t choose my hours. If anything, you should plan your visits around my schedule.”
“I don’t know your schedule.”
“I can text it to you.”
“Smooth. Do you always get people's numbers like that?” Kye asked, finally looking up from the feather to look at him.
“First time, actually. Did it work?” They stared at each other for a second, then Kye sighed.
“Gimme your phone before I change my mind,” Kye said. Yuta had a cocky smirk, handing it to them.
The back door opened rather violently, and Kye jumped at the sudden snap, instinctively scooting closer to Yuta. His arm went across them, hand falling on their thigh in a protective stance as they both checked to see who was coming out.
An angry Jaehyun made his way through the yard, Jamie not far behind him, calling out his name. Yuta and Kye shared a look, Yuta noticing his position and moving his hand away.
“Sorry,” he mumbled.
“That’s okay-“
“Leave them alone for once, will you?” Johnny’s voice caught their attention, and they saw him holding Haechan back, keeping him from running after the two others. Haechan turned around to protest, but his eyes fell on Yuta and Kye, and his target suddenly changed.
“Since when do you two know each other?”
“They’re a regular at the cafe,” Yuta lied right away, and Kye nodded. Kye shared a look with Johnny, who knew that was a lie, but strangely refrained from commenting. His eyes fell on Kye’s lap, where the feather necklace and Yuta’s phone now laid, and he smirked.
“Come on,” he told Haechan, dragging the younger boy back inside. Poking his head out the door, he added “They’ve calmed down, by the way.” Kye smiled, thanking Johnny as he disappeared, yelling some non-sense as he did.
“Do you wanna go back inside?” Yuta asked, and Kye took a deep breath.
“I’ll stay a little longer. But you don’t have to wait for me,” Kye said, handing Yuta his phone back.
“I’m good,” he said, closing his eyes as he leaned back against the wall. A few minutes later, a sort of chant rose from inside, and Yuta sighed.
“See, this time it’s really Haechan doing a keg stand,” he said, and Kye laughed, mindlessly playing with the feather in their lap.

1948 Pt1 - A New Home
Tumblr media
Hezekiah sat contemplating his move while Stefan watched him anxiously. "Stop stalling and go already."
"Patience son, one can't rush a good strategy. Ah here we are."
"Awe man...I wasn't paying attention."
"See! You can't rush the game or you'll make mistakes."
Tumblr media
The phone rang and Kye wheeled to the living room to answer. His heart leapt when a familiar woman's voice spoke. "It's all settled, Kye. We just need you here to close the deal."
"Great and you managed to get the price lowered to what we agreed upon?"
"18k just as you said."
Tumblr media
"Lizzie I need to tell you something."
"If it's about Ivy...I already know about the drugs. I'm working on it."
"Uh...no...it's not about that. Our trip to Copperdale next week...Anabelle doesn't know yet but...it's gonna be permenant."
"Oh. You're leaving?"
Tumblr media
"Hey you'll be fine. Kailee and Knox are just across the river and I'll be just a phone call away."
"I know... you can't stay forever I just never put much thought into how soon it might be."
"I know it's been hard these last few years, but I'm really proud of you Lizzie."
Tumblr media
"Proud of me? Why?"
"You tackled a devistating event and made it something beautiful. Transforming Kailee's old apartment into a homeless shelter, teaching teens life skills that will help them get jobs or raise families. I know you can do anything."
"I'm gonna miss you, Kye."
Tumblr media
In Copperdale, the family enjoyed a leisurely day at the carnaval and checking out the sights until they were exhausted. "I'm ready to go to the rental now."
Kye took Sofia's hand, "One last stop...Stefan would you cover your mother's eyes for me."
"Kye, what are you up to?"
Tumblr media
Stefan kept her eyes covered as they made their way up the path, Anabelle was starting to get annoyed.
"Just a little further."
"Ok, ok"
"Alright you can let her look now."
For a moment she couldn't comprehend what she was looking at, then a smile came over her face. "Kye."
Tumblr media
For a moment the four of them just stood there looking at it. "Is this ours? Is this really our home? But how? I could save another decade and still not be able to afford something this big."
"Look mom, dad already put in some of your plants under the window."
"I see them."
Tumblr media
She fell into his arms overcome by emotion. "I don't know how you did it but I love it."
"Well I do have a confession...two actually. I did use the money you were saving to buy this but the rest...well I never told you but as it turns out a handicap pension is pretty hefty."
Tumblr media
Kye brushed the tears from her face. "Alright enough of that, you 3 go stand in front of the door so I can get pictures."
"Come here you two." Anabelle pulled them close despite their complaints. Sofia felt awkward when Stefan threw his arm around her neck but smiled anyway.
Tumblr media
"Don't think you're gonna get away with no pictures, mister. Get over here and get some pictures with your kids."
Hezekiah chuckled as Anabelle took the camera from him. She'd always wanted a wall filled with photos of a family she'd created and now she could do just that.
Tumblr media
A few weeks later the Greenburg's came to visit from Evergreen Harbor. It was a long trip but thankfully travel had become better between the worlds and it was easier for them to come for a shorter amount of time. The family was excited to catch up and show them around the house.
Tumblr media
"I could always tell this is what you wanted deep down."
"You always were there to keep me on the right track. I'm glad things worked out that way."
"Well they didn't just work out. Joining The Movement was just an excuse to make sure you weren't alone. You needed the push."
Tumblr media
"Is everything alright Kailee, you look a bit pale." "It was just a long trip."
"Uh huh, not an easy one on the stomach I imagine."
"Ok you got me, we're expecting"
"Oh that's so exciting! I know how hard you've been trying."
"It's been a long road, but we're ready now."
Tumblr media
After a long evening of catching up and playing card games, Sofia finally had some time to cuddle up with a book. The banter of the family had been exhausting. Even Stefan had joined in while she always struggled to interact. But she was determined to make this family work.
Tumblr media
That evening Anabelle woke from a bad dream her eyes scrambling for something familiar but not recognizing her surroundings. She rolled over and saw Kye and everything came into focus. This was their new house. She was in bed...with her husband everything was fine.
Tumblr media
She stroked his collarbone gently as if assuring herself he was real and he stirred a bit. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you. Go back to sleep." S
he kissed him on the cheek and he turned toward her, "Everything alright?"
"Yes, it was just a bad dream. I'm fine now."
Tumblr media
"Do you want to talk about it." "It was nothing, really, just fear playing with my head. I dreamt I lost you...and the kids. I was in a forest all alone and the people I love most were gone."
"It was just a dream. You know I'm not going anywhere."
"I know. Just a silly fear."
Tumblr media
"I love you, you know. So much! I could never let you go. If anything happened to this family, I would fight like hell to bring us back together again."
"You wouldn't get very far." He gasped in fake offense, "Don't be mean."
"Shut up and kiss me."
"Whatever you want."’
Tumblr media
The next morning the Greenburg's headed back to Evergreen. "Thanks so much for having us. We'll send you a letter when the baby arrives and be sure to call once in awhile if you don't have time to write." The two families said their goodbyes and life as a family of four began.
