Last night there was massive storm where I live. I was woken up from my Shabbat nap about an hour before Shabbat was over to the very very loud sound of some sort of siren that I had never heard before. It was pouring rain and thundering and lightninging and the lightning was the most beautiful purple I had ever seen. And as I sat in bed, half asleep, there were a few moments where I genuinely thought "what if this is it? What if this is Mashiach?" Like.....it really was a surreal experience. I had never seen lightning so vividly purple like that, and the siren was so loud and so steady that I thought it was Mashiach's shofar.

Then the siren stopped.

There was still a beautiful storm outside, but I realized that it wasn't Mashiach. I got dressed an watched the storm from my window until Shabbat was over. It wasn't until I checked my phone that I realized that the siren I had heard was a tornado siren, and that there had been a tornado warning in place. I didn't even know my city had a tornado siren.
