I see some in some form a therapy or healing for mental health, trauma, family or generational curses and that’s being prioritized. I also see education being a focused too, so some of you may be a student, going back to school, taking courses, becoming certified or established and diving into religion & spirituality.

This isn’t a time to get stuck in analysis paralysis, pondering of the past or what could be in the future— be here now. Clear out the clutter, keep it true & straight & just have fun at this time. Use discernment to know if anything is worth disturbing your peace for.

Love & Romance is focused on stability, change, freedom and a provider or partner with status, wealth or power.

For some of you, a decision between 2 partners or deciding what kind of partner you want is indicated. Remember your values, what you truly need to be fulfilled and think long-term. Be mindful of your intentions & what you’re investing time, money & energy into.

An attraction to a foreigner, or a wealth person in power is indicated ( a police officer, lawyer, doctor, celebrity)

A level up is needed— meaning your partner will have to level up for you OR you will have to level up for your partner. One person is more established, experienced & successful than the other. So love is coming in, but someone needs to get to a specific big point as far as money, fame, career or networking.

Ex: you want to pursue a celebrity romantically. Think about what you’d have to do to even be able to walk up to this person. We’re all human, but it’s very unlikely that’d you just be able to be with a celeb easily. If you live in a small town, run a small business, or a small social media account— what can you do to get noticed while staying true to yourself? How can you level up your reputation to eventually be known by this celeb?

*Don’t focus too hard on specific celebrity, wealthy or just successful person. You might want a specific celeb like a singer, but end up with a famous songwriter or producer instead. You might want an actress/ actor, but end up with a NFL OR NBA star.

A big move is how you meet this person. Your creative passion, career/ job or public reputation is how you meet this person. ( and vice versa)

(You may be moving to a new city, state or country. Starting a business that becomes successful & well known or you become famous on social media or in your state for your career)

For those of you already in a relationship ( someone not on your level, someone you settled with or already married or in a relationship with someone else) either they put in the work to change & level up for you OR leave that other person or relationship— or you leave them behind. You’ve outgrown someone and they want to continue to do the same things, which will hold you back. Some of you are with someone who knows your worth & knows you can do better. So they’re keeping you stagnant, so you won’t go to someone better.

I see a time of being single & going through a glow up.

How am I settling? What do I need to do to level up? What have I outgrown? Is the old keeping me from the new? How can I bring in someone on my frequency, when I’m being help back by lower frequencies? What am I wasting / what am I not taking advantage of? What am I underestimating?

The Wheel Of Fortune

Love & Romance is focused around time management, whirlwind romances, prioritizing finances or yourself.

You will have many opportunities regarding love & romance, however it depends on YOU.

There’s a huge energy of you prioritizing, something else over your live life. It’s indicated that you’re prioritizing something that will bring you security, more money, status or fulfillment currently or in the future. ( work, business, creative pursuits, savings, body transformation, mental health, self care & singledom)

So the energy is “what can you bring to MY table, that I can’t already serve myself?”.

Now this can be you or a person you’re interested in, so this can be vice versa.

Being to busy, high standard, demanding, spoiled, unattainable independent or happily single may intimidate a lot of people. You may be approach by people who want you to dim your light, slow down, be less busy, make time and open or change your schedule around for them. The question is: are they worth it.

Be mindful of sacrificing or delaying what’s important to you & good for you ( in the long run) , to entertain or accommodate someone who wants your attention for a minute.

How can I make time for romance? What am I putting aside for someone else? Do I jump at love without thinking? Is love important right now? How do I romance myself? Can I wait for love? Is this attention really a distraction from my goals?

Love & Romance is focused around broken promises, healing, forgiveness, apologies, communication, love language & opening your heart.

( I see an indication of friendship here, as well as a broken commitment ( promise ring, engagement, marriage)

You are still dealing with a blow to the heart. Feelings of being left behind, stabbed in the back, revenge, & picking up the pieces is emphasized.

For some a strong energy of forgiveness or an apology is here. I see many feeling guilty of hurting you and vice versa.

Someone you’ve blocked & refuse to talk to— wants to communicate with you. I’m seeing conversations about the past, reunions, laying it out on the table, expressing truths, emotions & apologies. However, it does not mean this person (s) will stay in your life. Be mindful of selective hearing or seeing; do not overlook unchanged behavior or old tricks.

I see many of you single & isolating yourself from many out anger & pain.

For other, these are ghost wounds from the past. This has already happened to you, but you fear it will happen again. Feelings of guilt, shame & anger will arise as you ponder on seemingly wasted time. Don’t turn the sword onto yourself. Know that nothing is wasted & this will add to you wisdom & growth in the long run. Take these Ls & turn them into MORE love… make lemonade. Do not allow another’s wounds to bleed onto you, do not allow bitterness to make you a lemon. Release the sourness you’ve experienced & add sweetener to your life. To sweeten, does not mean to sugarcoat— it means taking the sour & salty moments and making the best of it. Honey is used to heal as well…

Allow the ice to melt & warm your heart again. Allow for new love in all forms to come to you ❤️‍🩹

You are being called to confront your fears & triggers. People from the past may come back to you, so you can close & heal old wounds. You’ll be tackling feelings of your worth.

William Stephen Belichick (born April 16, 1952 -) is an American football coach who is the head coach and general manager of the New England Patriots of the NFL. Widely regarded as one of the greatest head coaches of all time, he holds numerous coaching records, including the record of most Super Bowl wins (six) as a head coach, all with the Patriots, along with two more during his time as the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, for the record of eight combined total Super Bowl victories (the most of any individual in NFL history) as coach and coordinator.

Handsome with a perpetual grumpy look, Belichick is a big, hairy fuckfest of a man. And under his tenure with the Patriots, he was a central figure as the head coach as well as the chief executive during the franchise's dynasty from 2001 to 2019. Plus I bet he fucks like a champ.

Of course he's straight, having married in 1977, but they divorced in the summer of 2006. The couple have three children. Oh… his relationship with former Giants receptionist helped precipitate her divorce. Now I'm starting to wonder about that rumored sex tape. Apparently his relationship with his girlfriend ended and he's back on the market. There isn't much else I can say about him. He's a grumpy looking man… with nice tits and I'd love for him to pound me into the bed.

It should not have been a surprise that the notifications coming from your phone woke you up out of a peaceful sleep and as you turn to grab your phone, with the screen light shining bright on your face trying to figure out the reasons why your phone is going off so early in the morning hours before your alarm.

The alert text messages from your manager confuse you as this morning was one of your only off days that you have during the week where you can relax at home and not be on the roads traveling from different cities to do wrestling shows every week.

Things have never been easy for you since joining WWE as you quickly became one of the company’s most popular wrestlers by winning multiple championships across the three major WWE brands: Raw, NXT, and Smackdown… While the love from wrestling fans is one of the reasons your passion for wrestling continues to grow, the obsessiveness that some wrestling fans have over a young woman in the business is the reason you’re so private about your life.

Scrolling through all the text message notifications before you can unlock your phone, you feel your boyfriend move closer to you and snuggle right behind you while wrapping one of his arms around your waist trying to pull you closer to him as he was slowly starting to wake up out of his peaceful sleep due to your movement.

“Darling… it’s too early for anyone to be awake” Joseph mumbled. “Who is texting you at this hour?!”

“It’s my manager…” you whispered. “I was just about to unlock my phone, it has to be important seeing as she knows today is one of my only off days.”

Finally unlocking your phone, as Joseph tries to fall back asleep, seeing the texts from your manager that woke you up from a peaceful sleep… Your eyes widen as the article link your manager sent to you causes an anxiety bubble to start forming in your chest, sitting up in a panic causing Joseph to groan in his attempt to fall back asleep, you click the article that you never thought you’ll see being written about you and Joseph.

TMZ EXCLUSIVE

WWE SUPERSTAR Y/FN Y/LN AND NFL BENGALS QUARTERBACK JOE BURROW CAUGHT TOGETHER IN PUBLIC DURING THEIR OFF-TIME.

As you read more of the TMZ article, you feel as if your heartbeat is beating out of your chest and the world goes quiet. The paragraphs written by some reporter exposing your relationship with Joseph are in descriptive details of how the two of you met through mutual friends which started forming a friendship that quickly turned into something more once Joseph’s off-season from the NFL started earlier in the year and how you’ve been keeping this secret from all of your co-workers in WWE as you were terrified of how people would react due to the reaction of your last relationship.

Scrolling back to the top of the article, looking at the two photos that TMZ decided to use in an attempt to get more clicks, you easily recognize that the photos were taken at an private party that Joseph and you are invited to attend by Pat McAfee a few weeks ago.

The private party has less than 30 people in attendance and everyone in attendance knew about your relationship with Joe Burrow. In that moment in time, you didn’t realize that photos of you and Joseph were being taken as it’s very clear the two of you were in your own world on the party dance floor but you weren’t thinking about who took the photos, you were more focused on the thought that your private relationship is now a public relationship.

Joseph groans in his sleep once again as the light from your phone is illuminating the bedroom, his cold hands touch your back in an attempt to get your attention causing you to zone out of your thoughts and be present back into the real world.

You quickly turn to Joseph and by the look on your face that he sees due to the light of your phone, the NFL quarterback can easily tell that something was wrong.

“What’s wrong?!” Joseph asks as he’s rubbing his eyes to try and wake himself up. “Did something happened in the WWE?!” As your eyes tried to make eye contract to focus on him, your mind is wandering all over the place as your frozen still.

Joseph notices your frozen figure and sits up in a panic to comfort you in his arms while he takes the phone out of your hands, finally feeling free from your frozen form you wrap your arms around his waist and cuddle into his chest as Joseph finally reads the article that has you in a panic state of mind.

The NFL Quarterback carefully read through the article noticing the descriptive details that “insider sources” claimed to know about your relationship and many more photos of the two of you out in the town, holding hands and acting as a normal couple that wasn’t being followed by stalkers who felt as if it was their right to expose your relationship before the two of you are ready.

After the trouble you went through because of how your 2 year relationship with AEW wrestler “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry ended, due to the pressure of being in two different wrestling companies and continuously being stalked by wrestling fans. You faced so much backlash for the how the relationship ended even though it was a mutual decision between you and your ex-boyfriend, but the internet loves picking sides.

Joseph tosses your phone on the bed and wraps his arms around your body, pulling you closer to his chest to give you the comfort that you needed… As much as the rage boiling inside his chest wants him to get on his phone to make calls and to start yelling at his manager for allowing TMZ to leak this information to the general public before either of you were ready for the world to know, all he wanted to do was protect you from the world that has shamed you for being a woman in love that knows her worth and deserves much better than the love that she has received from ex-boyfriends in the past.

Finally after many minutes of the two of you just sitting in silence, trying to comfort one another and realize that the privacy that your relationship had was all gone… You decided to slowly move away from Joseph’s chest, unwrapping your arms from his waist while Joseph unwraps his arms from your body and sitting up to face each other.

The light phone that was tossed onto the bed is still the only light that is illuminating the room and the morning sunrise is barely peeking it’s way through the dark curtains of your shared bedroom.

A text message notification sound cause you and Joseph to look at your phone before you decide to grab it and read the message, it shouldn’t be surprising to see another text message from your manager.

You feel Joseph move closer to you once again as you both read the messages on the screen from your manager that you didn’t read after seeing the text message that was the link to the TMZ article.

The text messages from your manager reads that they’re trying to figure out who these insider sources are claiming to know so much information about your relationship with Joe Burrow and trying to figure out who sent these photos to TMZ. The newest text message states that the reaction from wrestling fans and NFL fans about your relationship is mostly positive, but more articles about your relationship are being spread around by more media sources.

“I’m sorry.” Joseph apologized. A confused look appeared on your face when you turn to look over your shoulder before Joseph continued his thought. “I’m sorry I didn’t protect you the way that I should’ve.”

“Joseph… what are you saying right now?!” You asked, still confused on Joseph’s apology. “None of this is your fault?!”

Joseph sighed. “It was my idea to go to Pat McAfee’s party a few weeks ago-“

“There are photos from other events too. We weren’t caught at the party: These stalkers have known about our relationship for months and TMZ is only just know releasing the articles with all the photos. There are no places that we could’ve hid from them. They found us and took pictures of us at the park, the stores, out walking the streets, at festivals and many more places that we’ve went on dates too… How could we have known that we have been stalked for these past few months?!” you exclaimed as your hands grab your hair to pull and you curl into a ball. Joseph took your hands from your hair and interlocking your fingers together, he knows that when you get easily stressed out that you like to pull at your hair in an attempt to distract yourself from the stress with pain.

“I just- I just don’t understand…” you stuttered, looking at Joseph who notices the fear and worry on your face and the tears in your eyes. “Things were going so good for us; for many months we were able to live our lives together and apart without the judgment from people who think they know us, we didn’t have to care about the things that people who don’t know us thought. we didn’t have to worry about all the things that caused my past relationships to fail.”

As the anxiety bubble is your chest is causing you to struggle to breathe as the tears stream down your face, you turn away from Joseph while letting go of his hands to wipe your tears away. All Joseph could do at the moment is allow you to continue to talk through your feelings of fears.

“We already struggle so much to be together with our schedules, and it’s only going to get worse when the next NFL football season starts.” you exclaimed, looking back at Joseph who had an apologetic look on his face. You take a moment to think about what you said, the last thing that needs to happen right now is for you and Joseph to get into an argument. “I’m sorry… I’m not blaming you I swear-“

Before you could finish your apology… Joseph wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you into his lap to be as close as he can be to you as you wrap your arms around his neck to bring him close to him into a hug.

As he rubs his hand against your back and hums a melody of an familiar song, your panic breathing from the anxiety bubble in your chest starts to deflate to match his breathe pattern and as you hold each other closer… It’s in this moment you realize that Joseph isn’t going to leave you, this rough patch that you’re going through in your relationship with him isn’t going to cause him to want to give up and leave.

You’re not the only one who is going through the hard time of dealing with your privacy being exposed to the world by people who only want to make a profit off your names and relationship, while you’re making this situation all about you due to the anxiety you felt after seeing the article with the photos, you failed to realize until this moment that this will affect Joseph too as he has been private about his life outside of football.

After a few minutes of Joseph’s hums of familiar song, the sunrise light is starting to shine through the curtains and the early morning sounds of birds start to chirp outside your window… You pull away from Joseph and he gives you a soft smile before leaving to give you a kiss on the lips.

The kiss doesn’t last long as Joseph’s alarm goes off for football practice goes off, he quickly reaches over to his nightstand to turn off his alarm before his arms hold your waist as you’re still sitting on his lap with your arms around his neck.

“I promise to you, that I will not allow anything to let our relationship falter under pressure; no one in the world is going to stop me from loving you the way that i’ve been loving you for all these past months and how i plan on loving you even more every second of the day until death due us part. This is a promise that i plan on keeping forever, do you plan on keeping the same promise to me?!” Joseph asked.

Being very overwhelmed with so many emotions in the past hour, unable to speak or else you know you’ll be crying in Joseph’s arms (but this time, for a good reason). All you could do is nod your head and pull him close to you once again as you kiss him with so much passion.

You don’t know how the future your relationship with Joseph is going to be now that the foxes was finally caught by the hunters… but one thing you do; is that as long as Joseph decides to stick by your side, the two of you can be able to outrun the predators together and will be able to keep what makes your relationship so special to yourselves without outsiders’ opinions.

If Donald Trump returns to the White House, close allies want to dramatically change the government's interpretation of Civil Rights-era laws to focus on "anti-white racism" rather than discrimination against people of color.

Why it matters: Trump's Justice Department would push to eliminate or upend programs in government and corporate America that are designed to counter racism that has favored whites.

Targets would range from decades-old policies aimed at giving minorities economic opportunities, to more recent programs that began in response to the pandemic and the killing of George Floyd.

Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung told Axios: "As President Trump has said, all staff, offices, and initiatives connected to Biden's un-American policy will be immediately terminated."

Driving the news: Longtime aides and allies preparing for a potential second Trump administration have been laying legal groundwork with a flurry of lawsuits and legal complaints — some of which have been successful.

A central vehicle for the effort has been America First Legal, founded by former Trump aide Stephen Miller, who has called the group conservatives' "long-awaited answer to the ACLU."

America First cited the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in February in a lawsuit against CBS and Paramount Global for what the group argued was discrimination against a white, straight man who was a writer for the show "Seal Team" in 2017.

In February, the group filed a civil rights complaint against the NFL over its "Rooney Rule."

The rule — named for Dan Rooney, late owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers — was instituted in 2003 and expanded in 2022. It requires NFL teams to interview at least two minority candidates for vacant general manager, head coach and coordinator positions.

American First argued that "given the limited time frame to hire executives and coaches after the season, this results in fewer opportunities for similarly situated, well-qualified candidates who are not minorities."

In 2021, Miller's group successfully sued to block the implementation of a $29 billion pandemic-era program for women- and minority-owned restaurants, saying it discriminated against white-owned businesses.

"This ruling is the first, but crucial, step towards ending government-sponsored racial discrimination," Miller said then.

Zoom in: Other Trump-aligned groups are preparing for a future Trump Justice Department to implement — or challenge — policies on a broader scale.

The Heritage Foundation's well-funded "Project 2025" envisions a second Trump administration ending what it calls "affirmative discrimination."

Part of the plan, written by former Trump Justice Department official Gene Hamilton, argues that "advancing the interests of certain segments of American society ... comes at the expense of other Americans — and in nearly all cases violates longstanding federal law."

Hamilton is America First Legal's general counsel.

Such groups have gained momentum with the Supreme Court's turn to the right — most notably its recent rejection of affirmative action in college admissions. The court ruled that programs designed to benefit people of color and address past injustices discriminate against white and Asian Americans.

In 2021, a federal judge blocked a $4 billion program to help Black farmers.

Earlier this month, another federal judge ruled that the Commerce Department's Minority Business Development Agency was discriminating against white people and that the program had to be open to everyone.

What they're saying: The Trump campaign directed Axios to the candidate's already stated positions bashing Biden's policies promoting equity.

"Every institution in America is under attack from this Marxist concept of 'equity,' " Trump said in 2023. "I will get this extremism out of the White House, out of the military, out of the Justice Department, and out of our government."

The Trump campaign's Steven Cheung added: "President Trump is committed to weeding out discriminatory programs and racist ideology across the federal government."

The NFL and Miller declined to comment. CBS didn't respond to a request for comment.

Between the lines: A CBS poll last November found that 58% of Trump voters believe that people of color were advantaged over white people — just 9% of Biden voters said the same.

Polls also show, however, that Trump is gaining support among Black and Latino voters.

Zoom out: Trump has portrayed himself as the victim of racism amid his legal troubles.

He repeatedly has said Black women prosecutors in Georgia and New York are "racist."

His political career really began in 2011 as the chief Birther-agitator, questioning Barack Obama's eligibility to be president.

When Trump jumped into the presidential race in 2015, he accused Mexico of dumping criminals and rapists into the U.S.

I actually would love to hear where ticket/concession/merch money for concerts go. If someone has already asked about that, can you do something similar for a sports game of your choice?

Already got a request for concerts, but I can do the sports game!

So, let's go with... baseball. I've been to professional baseball games ('twas the Ducks), even if it's been a Very Long Time, so that's the one I have some perspective on. Who is in control of the money any given game (as in, who owns the stadium and the home team) varies by place and sport, so let's use the Mets and Citi Field as our example when we need a specific.

Mostly, this is because I'm in New York and so it's down to either them or the Yankees, and between the two... the Mets, through a wholly owned subsidiary, Queens Ballpark Company, are the ones that actually own their ballpark, which makes a few things easier and includes a Fun Fact about the naming. It also means that I can treat the team and the stadium as one singular entity instead of waffling over who gets to be the Main Character of this simulation. It's not exactly uncommon for teams to own their own stadiums, but it's not most of them.

(The Mets, btw, are owned in large part by a hedge fund manager. Like, 95% of the team stock is owned by this one guy. Why can't more sports be like the Packers and just belong to the city.)

In this case, I will be referring to the Forbes article on Citi Field's revenue for 2022 as a guide or framework, as they have an actual image of the financial report; they don't do much explaining of the actual data, though, so my part will be explaining the less-obvious things and doing some maths. A few other articles will also be cited as they come in useful.

I'll also note that the Mets are a very expensive team operating at a loss, but they still work for our purposes.

MONEY COMING IN:

Tickets, most obviously

To quote the wiki article on Major League Baseball:

"MLB is the second-wealthiest professional sport league by revenue after the National Football League (NFL). [...] MLB has the highest total season attendance of any sports league in the world; in 2018, it drew more than 69.6 million spectators."

I didn't know that until I started researching for this post, but it makes sense. After all, baseball is "the American pastime." The Forbes article cites average attendance of 33,000 per home game. The stadium seat about 41,900, so we're looking at roughly 79% attendance. This is fine, because attendance is not the only stream of revenue.

Advertising

If you have seen a professional sports game in the past however many years, you have seen that, depending on the type of court, they are plastered in advertising. Let's take a look at Citi Field:

The Forbes article states that the stadium makes about $48.5 million per year from advertising. About $28.5 million of that comes from the various 'temporary' and long-term ads, the Nikon and Geico and Toyota and Coca Cola, etc.

$20 million of it comes from one company. I'm going to quote Wikipedia again:

The naming rights were purchased by Citigroup, a New York financial services company, for $20 million annually.

This is not uncommon! ESPN has an article about it, and some standout examples are Bank of America Stadium, Coors Field, Delta Center, FedEx Field and FedEx Forum, General Motors Place, Gillette Stadium, Heinz Field, and the list just goes on. I'm not even sure if the list is up to date, because I'm seeing even more articles elsewhere with higher figures.

Concessions

The financial report that Forbes cites has $22mill in concessions. This is not entirely surprising. Going by this page, we're looking at... 84 home games in that 2022 season. Let's assume that 33,000 average cited earlier. That's 2,772,000 attendees over the course of the season. So, what, a little under $10 per attendance tick? Entirely plausible. A hot dog plus a soda is $15, so... that tracks.

Parking

Apparently parking is, collectively, about $13mill annually. That's... genuinely a little concerning to me, for uh. Reasons. Also parking is $40.

(A lot of people go to games via train, if anyone's interested.)

Luxury Suite Premiums

I had to google this one, but uh. Turns out those fancy private box seats are even fancier and more private than I thought, bringing in over $10 mill a year.

Other Revenue - Stadium, undefined

"Other Revenue" and "post season revenue" are not given any further information, but they're about $16.5 mill so. They're definitely doing their part? Wish we had more information.

One guess is that there are events in the vein of the Citi Field Spring Carnival that contribute to the revenue through either fees to the stadium (if this is a carnival that rents the parking lot) or concessions and tickets (if the stadium rents a carnival).

Other Revenue - to the team that is not direct operating income of the stadium itself

Not counting the "other revenue" section of the financial statement, the Forbes article tells us that:

National broadcasting deals with Fox, ESPN and TBS that pay over $60 million a year to every MLB team, as well as the local cable fee the Mets get from SNY, which is over $80 million a year.

That's another $140mill in addition to the $244mill that the financial report cites.

Merchandise - not direct stadium revenue.

MONEY GOING OUT

Operations

This one's easy: you have to pay wages to your employees, from the players themselves to the food sellers to janitorial to security to field maintenance, etc. Also, you have to pay for utilities (those billboards and floodlights aren't cheap), product to sell (frozen hot dogs), supplementary materials for products you sell (plastic cups, paper for the ticket machines, bags for garbage cans, and so on), and repairs/maintenance for the stands themselves (can't imagine they get through a season with all 41,900 seats intact).

Player salaries (and a few others, like the coach) aren't actually included in stadium revenue, but since the stadium is owned by the team, we're bundling them together for the sake of this case.

Payment in Lieu of Taxes

So this is an interesting one, and while the Forbes article does touch on it, there's a bit more detail to the story.

Citi Field was built in 2009, and the process cost $850 million. Of that, $615 was public subsidies. A lot of this was municipal bonds, which the Mets have to pay back with interest for the lifetime of the park; those municipal bond repayments are an offset, and in return for paying tens of millions in municipal bond repayments each year (the 2022 report shows about $43.5 mill), Citi Field does not have to pay property taxes.

Wikipedia only cites property taxes, but the financial report doesn't include any other taxes, so I'll assume the only other taxes they're on the hook for are sales and payroll, which aren't displayed in the financial report.

Parking

Right, so, parking as a bundle is about $7.5 mill in expenses, which means that parking alone has a marginal profit of about 42.3%, given the earlier figure of $13mill in parking revenue. I'm not finding any solid information on where that money goes, but it seems very like that New York City's taxes on land use for parking is not included in the property tax exemption we discussed above, and that most of the $7.5 mill is in that regard.

Post Season Expenses

I'll be honest, they don't define this $1.8 mill, but given what is and isn't included in the other sections, I'm going to hazard a guess that this may be about upgrades (more than maintenance) or replacement of physical billboards that are also not included as regular maintenance but require a lot of manpower to get up and set if complicated enough.

General and Administrative

This is the other possible allocation of the utilities and related payments. This is also where back of house activities like accountants, lawyer fees, payroll clerks, facilities managers, and so on are bundled in. It's about $5.5 mill.

Publicity and Promotions

This one's easy, it's just marketing that doesn't fall into General Mets Things and is rather for home games specifically.

Depreciation and Amortization

Bit trickier, but you know how a car loses value the second you drive it off the lot? That is depreciation. You paid $20,000 for a car, but two years later it's worth $16,000; on a financial report, you put that down as a $4,000 loss to depreciation. Amortization is similar, in that it lowers values of various assets in relation to time and relative value to what it was when new.

Interest Expenses

Expenses related directly to interest rates tend to get their own line separate from regular debt repayments. This isn't really relevant beyond 'loans are more expensive than when you first get them.'

Travel and League Expenses

Since this is a traveling team, being professionals, and a Major League Baseball Team in particular, money has to be spent on the plane rides, team bus, and of course, the league fees. I wanted to end that a bit more pithy, but it turns out it's not easy to find league fees for the MLB.

(A new team joining would have to pay about $2.2 billion, according to one article, while previous new additions were a couple hundred mill, so... 100 mill? Maybe?)

Take Care: Chapter Five TEASER

emphasis on TEASER again, people! you’re in for a treat with this one. you get both a chapter teaser, and an article teaser... who’s excited yet? this one’s for chapter five!

After Bumbercatch had performed Sex on Fire, you went back to chatting with Keeley, but that was promptly interrupted by an abrupt “Oi!” from yours truly. You twisted yourself on the sofa to meet his gaze above. Roy peered down at you, empty beer glass in hand, and a small smile on his tipsy face. “Need a refill?” he asked, and you smiled immediately.

“Yes, please,” you said, as you stood up and followed him to the bar. You slalomed through other people enjoying their night out, until you both ended up at the main bar. The music was loud, and the place was packed, but you felt at ease next to Roy. “I’ll get these!” you yelled over the noise, but if Roy heard you at all then he chose to ignore it.

He ordered two more pints and tapped his card against the machine without hesitation. You pouted as you zipped up your bag again, looking at him sternly as he passed you your pint. “One of these days you have to let me buy you a drink, Roy.”

He shrugged. “I don’t fucking mind. Not when it’s you.”

You looked at him quizzically. “Why?”

“Because you don’t expect it. Everyone else does when you’re a footballer. They expect the drinks and food and the fucking bill sorted, but you never have,” he explained.

You scoffed. “Yeah, because my mother raised me with manners.”

“Good woman,” he said, before he clinked his full glass against yours. All you could do was laugh, as the two of you took generous sips of your drinks together.

You took a moment to glance around the main room of the club. It was bustling to the brim. People danced and drank joyously, and a few managed to scramble onto a small stage and use the pole that was there. You hadn’t been out to a club like this in a long time, and it made you even happier to think about the people you were with. A stellar team, a kind group of guys. You couldn’t believe how much you’d lucked out with them all.

Roy gently leaned to your ear, his beard skimming your cheek softly. “Need some air?” he asked, and as much as you wanted to say yes, you knew you had a song queued in the karaoke room.

You leaned into his ear in return, savouring being close to him like this, even if it was brief. “Keeley queued a karaoke song for me!” you said, and the mischievous face that Roy sent you was one that you added to his expression bank in your mind.

“Come on, then!” he yelled over the noise, before he offered you his arm.

Since arriving at Richmond, I’ve heard a phrase within the walls of the Dogtrack; the Roy Kent Effect. His teammates say it when they nail a play in training. Lasso and Beard say it when Roy makes things easier for their NFL suited brains to understand. His hamstrings say it when he withstands another sports massage from the club physio.

The Roy Kent Effect is a household name at AFC Richmond, only becoming so alongside Roy’s arrival at the club two years prior. When I mention it to him, Roy leans back in his chair and smiles. Yes, he can smile! ‘They’re good lads, the Richmond lot. I see myself in a lot of them. Obisanya, McAdoo, they all work so hard. It’s an honour to be their Captain, but I don’t steer the ship on my own.’

‘I don’t think that’s what the Roy Kent Effect means. It’s not about you leading them.’ I say, and this is the only time I’ve ever felt smart when it comes to football, especially next to the likes of Roy.

Roy leans forward. He likes to show people when he’s listening to them. It only elevates the notion that he knows there’s always something for him to learn. ‘The Roy Kent Effect isn’t anything you do, it’s simply having you around. You’ve been a role model, a leader, a staple of the game, for more than ten years. There’s admiration there, and that’s what they want to show you. That’s why they perform, and overachieve, and kick the ball like their life depends on it. It’s for them to show you how much you mean to the sport.’

Career of the Year is a Mattel line that has been running since 2010 - where Mattel identifies a specific career to produce specific Barbies for. I have referenced this before in the context of the Dream Gap Project and how in 2019 Mattel chose Judge as the career of the year, citing that only 33% of sitting judges were women.

Over the years, the Barbie Career of the Year has ranged from Fashion Designer, to Game Developer, to Architect, to Mars Explorer, to Music Producer. In recent years, Mattel have gone of their way to explain why they have made these choices; for example, in 2021 the year of the Music Producer, they released a press release explaining that women make up less than 3% of music producers.

The Career of the Year for 2023 - the year that is now drawing to a close - was Sports. Not specifically athletes: Barbie has been an athlete before. This time, Barbie was depicted as a General Manager, a Sports Reporter, a Ref and a Coach.

Some of the statistics cited in this press release included that the first female General Manager in Major League Baseball was as recent as 2020, and the first female coach in the NFL was in 2015.

Sugar Rush - snippet

General description: Remus helps one of his summer Cubs navigate how to continue in sports after a diagnosis of Type 1A diabetes. Thanks to @lumosinlove for the characters, @noots-fic-fests for the prompts and cards, and @hazelnoot-analyst for their archive work :)

Remus sifted through his inbox, which was usually pretty quiet during the summer months before training camp kicked off. There would, however, sometimes be the odd e-mail from a parent related to the Cubs teams he coached, so he continued to check his Lions' e-mail everyday. Sure enough, today, he had two e-mails, one from the ice manager about when the Cubs were expected to arrive for their special arena tour the coming week. One from - hmmm - one from the administration forwarding an e-mail from Mr. Sanchez, father to one of the more gifted Cubs Remus has coached in the past three seasons. Lucía had joined their program as a seven year old, and now, at nine, was one of the best skaters and players on the ice. She had worked hard to catch up to the kids who had grown up on the ice, learning to skate as soon as they could walk, and she showed an instinctive grasp of hockey tactics and reading plays on the fly. She had missed last week, and he hoped this wasn't bad news. Remus clicked open the e-mail, scanned it quickly, then let out a breath. It wasn't good news, but it certainly wasn't as bad as he feared. Lucía had just been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, and was afraid that she couldn't play hockey anymore. Remus fired out a response, inviting Lucía and her father to a meeting before the next practice. Then, he hit the books. Well, he hit the internet, collecting resources from reliable sites he already knew of and sniffing out some sites with information that might be more accessible to an 8-year old, and some resources in Spanish, just in case. Then he called his buddy Jake, a former NFL tight end Remus had met during his courses at Madison. Jake, a Type 1A diabetic, did a couple of sessions at the university each year for aspiring trainers on how to assist athletes with diabetes, and Remus had stayed in touch. He also fired off an e-mail to Luke Kunin, who had started working with the Madison sports trainers in high school while Remus was finishing up his program, even though Kunin's freshman year was after Remus' graduation. The following Tuesday, Remus felt ready to go. He met Lucía and Mr. Sanchez in the lobby, and ushered them through to his office so they could be assured of privacy. It broke his heart a little to hear Lucía look so defeated when she declared that she couldn't play anymore. Diabetic Mexican girls have no place on the ice, her doctor said. At that, Remus shot a look to Mr. Sanchez, whose jaw had clenched so tight, Remus was afraid he might crack a tooth. "But, you are from Honduras. Lucía, don't believe anything someone says if they can't even get that right once you've told them. Your doctor is very, very, very wrong." "The school says it too, and other players. Only some girls can play hockey, and not brown girls, and not sick brown girls. They say I will get a sugar rush and fall down whenever I skate fast. And they say I will get too fat to skate, only fat Mexicans get diabetes." "I am sorry you had to listen to that. None of what they say is true. I will keep a stronger ear out for that kind of bullying and ask the other coaches to do better too. That kind of attitude does not belong on the ice, in the locker room, or anywhere."

Then, point by point, Remus demolished the false statements, explaining that diabetes is different from a sugar rush, and that with careful management, Lucía can not only play any sport she wants, but excel at it. He shared the tips from Jake and Luke about how to wrap Lucía's new continuous glucose monitor and pump so that they were protected without impeding movement or insulin flow. He talked about nutrition and managing diet in the sense of being aware of how your body was feeling, and learning when and what to eat ahead of expected activities, and how to recognise a low. He shared his stories of working with Kunin, and how the whole World Junior team kept jelly beans in their pockets and on the bench, just in case Kunin needed to quickly raise his blood sugar. He talked about how the discipline and awareness of how her body is feeling that Lucía will develop while managing her diabetes might help her with the work needed to become a professional athlete, if that is a goal she decides to pursue (although nothing can guarantee anyone will make it to a professional, - and doesn't Remus know all about that, he thinks silently to himself - but diabetes certainly shouldn't stop her).

An alarm started to ring from the desk, and noting that it was almost practice time, he gave Lucía a handful of the temporary tattoos Jake had courriered over to him, some a simple blue circle, others the circle with the words Insulin Dependent written underneath. Then he sent Lucía off to change into her gear, but asked Mr. Sanchez to stay behind for a second.

"What your doctor said to Lucía was incredibly inappropriate, damaging, and incorrect. Is there any chance you can switch doctors?"

"I have already started the process to transfer Lucía to a pediatrician who specialises in juvenile diabetes." "Good. If that doesn't work out, please reach out to us here, and we will try to share more resources and make some connections with organisations the Lions work with regularly. Also, if I may be so bold, please report that doctor to the state board and the US Department of Health and Human Services. I have to head to the ice, but, please, don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any other questions or concerns about Lucía playing hockey. I can set up another meeting like this anytime this summer. Lucía is a gifted player and a great leader on the ice, hockey would be worse off without her playing."

Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders fire Josh McDaniels after starting 2-10 and losing to the Chiefs Week 12 in Las Vegas, and promote defensive coordinator Patrick Graham to be their interim head coach.

Patrick Graham will finish the season with a record of 2-3, leaving the Raiders with a final record of 4-13.

The Raiders will fire general Manager Dave Ziegler, interim coach Patrick Graham, and a majority of the rest of McDaniels' staff after the regular season is completed.

Tennessee Titans

Starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill gets injured early in the season, and the Titans allow scond-year QB Malik Willis and rookie Will Levis to struggle for the starting spot before Levis wins it outright after during Tennessee's bye week in Week 7.

Levis then manages to lead the Titans to an 8-3 record from the bye week on, putting up Rookie of the Year-worthy numbers... if he had started the full season.

The Titans still manage to fall in the Wildcard Round to a tough Browns team, but this year still cements Levis as the starting quarterback going into 2024, with Tannehill likely to be moved by the front office in the offseason.

Washington Commanders

Ron Rivera is fired after a Week 16 loss to the Jets, finishing his season in Washington with a record of 4-11. Assistant head coach and Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is promoted to be the interim head coach.

Bieniemy then coaches the Commanders to a 2-0 record in the final games, and after the season, his interim tag is dropped in order to make Eric Bieniemy the full-time head coach of the Washington Commanders in 2024.

Aside

Originally, I had afew wonkier predictions, namely the Cardinals and Colts trading their respective picks to quarterback-needy teams so those unnamed teams could select one of USC QB Caleb Williams or UNC QB Drake Maye.

My only reservation was that by the time October comes around, we're gonna have seen a much better sample size of football in 2023, so I'm certain I'll have opinions on it. I'd just like to save some for the wilder stuff for when there's a clearer picture to expand upon.

Ideally, I'd like to do one of these at the end of every month of the season, so we'll see how that goes.

End of the way, I wanted to put something out to reign in the new year, and I hope you're along for the ride.

Out of all the footballers you like/follow, who do you think has the best pr/public image?

That's an interesting question 🤔 I mean, taking Sonny out of the equation because we've already established his career is managed almost perfectly.

To be fair, one I use as example often is Pedri. This might sound stupid but being liked is easier for him because of where he's from. Even Madrid fans won't hate him like they hate other Barça players. He's a bit like Iniesta in that sense. But also, everything he does fits his image and who his target audience is. And people laugh at the bananas (we have the word banana in Spanish but what he advertises are plátanos and are so much better than bananas) but that's a huge cultural thing for him. And a brand that is massively respected in Spain. Plus, that check they're giving him must be pretty nice 😅

Grizi could probably do more. But he's so underrated. But I like the few things he does too. Like the NFL thing is just a passion of his but is building the transition for his move to the MLS beautifully.

In general, I think Prem players have worse PR and it's usually the not knowing your target audience. They want to do too much for too many people and ends up being messy and feels too fake.

Hi there anon! Haha this posts brings back a lot in regards to some past discussion regarding the role of the Pokemon League and dealing with criminal organization. Because it does seem odd that someone like Giovanni, nevermind the Elite Four and half the Kanto gym leaders could manage to slip by the league... Until you look at the league for what it is which is a very organized sports association. Sure it passes legislation but only in regards to the sport of Pokemon training (passing salaries, how many Pokemon can be carried at one time, etc) and at least in the Hoenn Chapter declaring a national emergency. So there is some power but ultimately with the fact that there is an International Police organization, armies for various regions (as hinted at with Lt. Surge) and local law enforcement there's very little the Pokemon League actually can do. Much like in real life people who go into sporting organizations or other professional organizations can be bad people on the side and have criminal dealings. And it's not the job of the professional organizations to handle them criminally, the most they can really do outside of cooperating with law enforcemen is decide to kick the person out and bar them from any future sanctioned events. So the idea that trainers can be league reps and still be evil actually makes a lot more sense when you look at it that way. And it also explains why in general most gym leaders, elite four, and even champions don't do as much you would think they would in regards to regional threats in the games and anime (I know we're talking about the manga mostly for this ask but I wanted to bring the games and anime up too because it's pertinent). Because again they're under a professional sporting organization and not a governmental one. It's not really in their job descriptions as part of the league to actively combat threats. Now if they happen to be detectives, G-men, soldiers and what not as their other jobs then yeah there's more of a professional reason to help but again it's not coming from the league itself which is just a global NBA/NFL/MLB assocation That doesn't mean they shouldn't try to help out. They absolutely should as a civic duty to their regions especially given their battle prowess which is helpful in dealing with various threats, but it's not a requirement in the job descriptions so they can most certainly not intervene and still retain their jobs because the Pokemon League Association.

As far as gym leaders/elite four/champions being criminals, well certainly the League should have the power to kick them out but the fact that they don't across multiple canons raises some implications. Either they don't really care or they may fear retribution if they try. After all especially when speaking of the Elite four they are incredibly powerful and certainly may decide to retaliate if they haven't been imprisoned. The people in the league association (running things in the background) may very well not be capable of handling a pissed off ex-league member and so they could be backing down on actually handling evil members out of safety concerns.
