#Ray does not exactly trust Klaus

If Ray had decided to come with Allison he and Klaus would have ended up as a strange sort of default best friends by virtue of being the two poor sods who had no clue what was happening at any given moment. Confused Kings comparing notes because no one tells Klaus anything and Ray has no context to make sense of anything that he is told.

I’ve seen a couple posts about how everyone was wildly out of character and totally inconsistent this season and I’m just like... were you guys paying attention?
1. Luther
Arguably the biggest shift in character between the two seasons, but it makes sense. Luther spent a year fending for himself and thinking his entire family was dead.
This is the first time in his life that he had to hold down a job and actually live on his own. It was literally his first time living out in the world among anyone other than his family, and you can see in his reactions with the other characters from that life (the boss, his landlord, those kids that idolize him, and the waitress) that it has really mellowed him out. It has allowed him to be more normal, despite being very much not normal. You can see the way he’s so much more comfortable in his skin. Literally the only times he looks uncomfortable is when he’s fighting people, shirt off and body on full display. He’s still not comfortable with that, but he’s not trying to hide under huge overcoats anymore. He has people in his life who accept him for being a little weird, but really do treat him normal.
So is he a little less uptight and mission focused? Yeah. Because he can finally see another life, and it’s the life that he honestly did want in season 1 but felt like he couldn’t have because he was number 1 and he had a responsibility to his dad, his family, and the academy to be the leader. Having a year on his own frees him of all that.
But he also spent all that time thinking his family was dead and feeling so guilty about it. You can see in his very first interaction with Vanya, where he suddenly feels that responsibility again. He brings a gun, not knowing what’s going to happen and, despite what he told Five, he absolutely does still have that lingering feeling of responsibility. But then he sees Vanya and she’s not a threat and everything he has been holding in for the last year comes out. Because he does feel guilty as hell for what he did to Vanya, but also for the fact that his actions pushed her into causing the apocalypse. He spent a year with the knowledge that he did that and thinking that his family was dead because of his actions.
He’s willing to listen now because he spent a year living in a world where his actions killed his whole family. And now he finds out that that didn’t happen and he has a second chance. Of course he’s going to take it!
2. Diego
In the first season, Diego finally admitted that he wanted to be close to his family and that he cared about them and wouldn’t leave them again. He confronted the guilt about leaving, which he had previously denied. He realized the difference between revenge and honoring someone’s memory. But despite all that, he never confronted the reason why he, a grown-ass-man, wandered around the city as a leather clad, mask wearing vigilante.
So when we see Diego show up in 1963, that’s still who he is. He wants to be that hero and he finds an answer for how to be that hero in the first several minutes that he’s there. So he takes it. I mean, what else is he going to do? His family is gone. Maybe they’ll show up again. Maybe this is it. Either way, he’s on his own like he was before, so he’s got a duty to be the hero he has chosen to be.
And then he meets his dad again. Everyone keeps telling him he has daddy issues, and they’re right. He absolutely has daddy issues. He’s still trying to simultaneously prove that he’s good enough for his dad, but also doesn’t need Daddy’s approval. Except he does need it. He still desperately craves it and he feels gutted when his dad denies him that approval, even falling back into the stutter he had as a kid.
Now, despite the way we joke, Diego is not dumb. He is so observant and he makes some of the most poignant statements about his siblings and the way they see the world. He sees the people around them and he understands them, but he has never been able to completely turn that gift inwards and see those same things in himself. In this season, Lila breaks through all that and he finally sees himself in her at the end.
“Do you know how hard it is to trust people when your whole childhood was bullshit manipulation? Then why would you do that to me?”
Diego sees himself in Lila, in her failure to break away from her mother despite the fact that he knows she wants to. In the final episode, he sees that she is just like the rest of the siblings, but she doesn’t have to be. None of them have to be stuck with their daddy issues, because they have each other. They can support and care for each other. It’s the last step of the growth he started in season 1, moving beyond his tendency to define his life and his family through their father.
3. Allison
Throughout season 1, Allison struggled with whether or not to use her powers, but it was all centered around getting back to her daughter. When she appears in 1961, that motivation is effectively removed. She thinks everyone else is dead. She thinks that she is stranded in the past and that she will never get back. She finds a group of people to support her and before long... she finds her voice again.
It’s no coincidence that Allison’s first spoken words in the series come right after she gives Ray that pamphlet with a bunch of added notes. She finds her voice in the civil rights movement. She finds her power there. She finds a way to help change the world, to change reality, and she does it without her powers.
This is something she struggled with through the entirety of season 1, feeling inadequate for using her powers to get what she wanted, not knowing if anything was real or earned. Now she has the chance to earn everything without those powers and she is thriving.
And then she is forced to use her powers again. It all turns out fine, but now she’s showing off and experiencing all over again how good it feels to have power. She spent two years in a world where she was denied equal treatment, where she could be arrested and assaulted for any reason those with more power came up with. And now she feels that power... She doesn’t have to wait for people to give her respect. She can demand it. But the pain is still there, and it’s not enough to just be respected, because these people have hurt her. They almost killed her husband. They have used their power to cause pain to her and all those who look like her time and time again and now it’s time to understand what it’s like to be powerless, to be hurt and to be unable to stop it and...
And it’s scary. It’s scary to have that much power, to see how you could become the kind of person who uses your power to hurt others. And she knows that her power has hurt people she loves and suddenly she’s right back where she started.
Only not entirely.
She doesn’t shy away from her powers in the final fight. She is obviously still finding that balance and I would expect this struggle to continue for her in future seasons. Power can be addicting and Allison’s power is so strong. She knows the danger there, but she also knows that sometimes it’s needed despite the danger.
4. Klaus
Klaus is an addict. He finds obsessions to bury himself in to avoid dealing with reality. In season 1, he buried himself in drugs and booze. When he shows up in the 60′s, he finds a new drug to bury himself in: adoration.
Klaus is so impulsive and it’s not difficult to connect the dots of how one thing leads to another until suddenly everything is out of his control. Honestly, that’s the story of Klaus’s life, no matter where he goes. And then something changes. He gets tired of his cult and leaves. Except... that’s not really the reason.
After all this time, Dave is still the love of his life, and he knows he has an opportunity. He knows where Dave will be at this one time and he knows exactly what he has to change to keep Dave alive.
He also knows that Ben is going to have thoughts about this.
I know some people were disappointed that there wasn’t more Klaus and Ben bonding this season, but it makes sense that there is tension there. I think a lot of that tension comes from Ben’s circumstances, which I’ll discuss later, but Klaus is also not responding to that tension well.
They are fighting more than ever (not that they ever didn’t fight in season 1, where they spent much of their time being snarky to each other and Ben literally punching Klaus in the face for being an asshole), but the fighting is about something new this season. Ben wants his own life and Klaus is not in a position to give Ben what he really wants. We also learn that he has been carrying around this guilt for the last 17 years about forcing Ben to stick around as a ghost. He forced this half-life on his brother and now that it’s not enough for Ben, Klaus doesn’t want to deal with it. So he avoids and deflects and snarks and we see the toll on their relationship. We see it in the way he tries to deal with his plans around Dave entirely on his own. He focuses so much into that last ditch effort. He’s already in such a low place before this, so when that fails, we see him snap. We see him give up and crumble. And Ben falls back to his old role, trying to save Klaus from himself.
But the tension isn’t gone and Klaus’s guilt isn’t gone. We see it again when Klaus finally agrees to let Ben possess him. Klaus has always been afraid of his powers and being possessed is just as terrifying a thought as being surrounded by the dead. And yet he gives Ben that chance. It’s the last good thing he can do at that point.
I do wish we had gotten more closure for Klaus and Ben’s story. I think Vanya’s reveal could have been given a little more time, but that’s not really a problem with inconsistent characterization, so we’ll save that for another post.
5. Five
OK, who would argue that Five was out of character or inconsistent? He’s obsessed with stopping the apocalypse, is willing to cross a lot of lines to save his family, and constantly frustrated by his family’s failure to go along with his plans. This is textbook Five.
What I loved about this season was that we got to see Five finally meeting his father again. They interact as two adults, not as a child trying to find away to become his own person, frustrated by a lack of trust from his father. It allows Reggie to see Five in a different light and to actually provide advice in a constructive way, something he has almost never been able to do when viewing them as his children. But despite outward appearances and despite the fact that Five is a grown man, he still sees his father the same way he always has. He doesn’t register Reggie’s advice as advice. He hears that he’s striving beyond his abilities and that maybe he can only travel in seconds. He hears his father telling him he can’t handle time travel. That’s why he doesn’t try to actually take the very good advice until the very end.
An old dog can still occasionally learn a new trick and Five proves that true.
6. Ben
As I mentioned earlier, Ben is chaffing at his ghosthood. Maybe it’s because Klaus has been sober enough to keep Ben around solidly for 3 years. Maybe it’s because Ben is no longer spending all his time trying to keep Klaus alive and sober. Or maybe it’s the fact that he has finally found someone that he actually wants to spend time with. Whatever the reason, Ben wants to be alive this season.
Again, as I mentioned, that’s causing some tension. Ben doesn’t want to be tied to Klaus, but Klaus is ignoring that because he feels so guilty about it. Ben doesn’t want to admit that he was too scared to go into the light on his own, so they’re at a bit of a standstill.
And then Ben gets the opportunity to be alive again, if only for a while. And in a lot of ways, it’s wonderful! But it’s not the same as being truly alive.
So when the time comes, when he’s faced with that light again... he’s not afraid. He knows that it’s time to move on. He knows this isn’t where he should be, but he also got the chance to be there for his family. He misses them, but he got to talk to Diego and Vanya. He got to save Vanya. He got to save Allison and Diego and Klaus and Luther and Five and the whole world! So while he would have stayed, he’s not sad about leaving anymore, and he’s not afraid.
7. Vanya
OK, she was a little out of character because... you know. She had amnesia.
But aside from erasing her past, the amnesia allowed us to see Vanya without the anger and resentment that plagued her for all of season one. Vanya was always someone who was kind and loving, someone who cares enough to leave peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches out for a missing brother for years. Someone who knows the pain of not being seen and who will always take the time to truly see other people. She’s someone who wants to love and to be loved and to protect those she loves.
That was all here, with or without the memories. And as soon as the memories came back, so did the guilt and fear about what she had done, what she had become, terrified of what was inside her in a way that she was not when her powers first surfaced. But Ben is used to being afraid of what’s inside of him. He knows she’s not a monster and is the perfect person to explain that to her. And this time around, she has experienced the love and care and attention of her siblings (and Sissy) to back up those words. That’s how she finally accepts them as truth, how she finally accepts her power as a part of her.
Overall, there are things that I wish this season spent more time with, but there was nothing that I felt was out of character or wildly inconsistent. The characters still struggled with all the baggage from their shitty childhood, their fear of their powers, and the guilt in their past. Some struggled in new ways this season and some continued old struggles that had never fully been resolved. The season felt very different than the first, but it still felt like the Umbrella Academy. It was a good mix of new and old and a good mix of feel-good moments we have all been waiting for and frustrating and sad moments that just come with having a complicated family. I loved this season. And now, I’m going to go re-watch every episode.

TUA DANCE SCHOOL AU
(but also like there's murder in here because it's still Umbrella Academy so...)
(BEWARE: mentions of abuse and harassment, murder, kidnapping, etc.)
(If you can handle watching Umbrella Academy, this will be fine for you.)
(Ballet, Hip-Hop) Diego came to this school for Eudora, and he’s staying here for Eudora. She’s his beloved adopted sister, and the one who told him he should pursue his passions in hip-hop… and ballet, but Diego’s not interested in telling anyone that bit yet. He’s only gonna be here a year anyway, just long enough for Eudora to win her way onto the women’s US national soccer team and earn enough money for the both of them to live worry-free for the rest of their lives. He’s not planning on making friends… until one of the dancers in his ballet class trips into his chest and Diego starts questioning whether love at first sight is a thing.
(Ballet) Klaus is top of his class in ballet, which is the only reason they haven’t kicked him out yet. He’s addicted to some hard shit; he’s sold himself for money; he’s living with his abusive boyfriend who he hasn’t loved in three years because if he wasn’t he’d be homeless. He knows he’d be fine if he just told Five what was happening to him, because Five is a thirteen-year-old runaway genius living in a studio apartment big enough for three, but Klaus doesn’t know how to bring it up. He knows he’s a mess - he’s got serious PTSD, anxiety, and depression from his few months in the army where his boyfriend he actually loved was killed in front of him, and he’s got anorexia because he’s a ballerina so of course he does, and he’s probably suicidal if he thinks about it too hard. But he just doesn’t want to deal with it. At all. But then there’s Diego. Sweet, innocent, hero-like Diego. And Klaus loves him. Klaus doesn’t love anything, but, fuck - Klaus loves Diego.
(Ballet, Break Dance, Hip-Hop, Tango) Five is a killer. You can laugh, it’s okay - everybody does when he says that, as if it’s a joke. Five’s alright with that. He has more to lose from them finding out about his habits than he does from actually doing it. It’s not like he can get caught - he’s killed detectives and cops too, and he’s very good at covering his tracks. Next on his list is Klaus’ boyfriend, who’s a piece of shit. He’ll bring Klaus home with him, and keep him safe. Five may not be loyal to many, but those he is will die of nothing but natural causes. He has access to things you can only dream of. All of his dance classes double for training; dance is a good segway to fighting techniques. The only trouble is Diego, who Five loves, who Klaus loves, who is well and true and good… who looks far too much like that vigilante who travels around after hours saving Five’s victims before they’re done bleeding out.
(Flamenco, Hula, Hip-Hop) Allison is undercover, and ready to be done with this shit. She knows Five’s guilty, and knows he knows she knows he’s guilty, and knows that if he wanted her dead she would be by now. She’s worried about his intentions towards Diego, but Five seems to have instead set his sights on Klaus’ boyfriend, who Allison can’t honestly say she’ll be sad to see go. So Allison won’t be bringing Five in - at least not yet. Instead, she focuses her efforts on her dance classes, hanging out mostly with her best friends Klaus and Ray, the latter of whom she has a crush on. And she’d make a move, too, if it weren’t for that stupidly hot and kind himbo she keeps passing in the hallways and cursing at.
(Jock, Break Dance) Luther doesn’t fit in here. Everyone here is so fucking talented, and Luther just… isn’t. Break dancing is just a hobby to him, but dance seems like life or death to everybody else. He’s starting to think maybe he should just quit, but then he sees Allison in the hallways, and thinks maybe all the ridicule is worth it. Though his petty fights with that Diego kid are getting annoying… and there’s something unexplainably sinister about this school. Almost like it’s… he doesn’t know. Sometimes it’s almost like it’s not a school at all.
(Choreographer, Contemporary) Ben is one of the school’s choreographers, though he’s still a student. He knows everything about everyone, and uses that power carefully. This school is going to fucking hell, what with all the criminals scheming under its roof, but none of them are Ben’s first concern, loathe as he is to admit it. No no, Ben is worried about Klaus. His best friend, Klaus. His beloved brother Klaus. His abused, sick, sad, scared, suicidal brother. God. Here’s the thing - Ben will do anything to save Klaus. Anything. Even, he knows with some sort of horrible inevitable certainty, die.
(Violinist) Vanya plays violin for the dance students to perform to. Her teacher Leonard is harassing her and she’s probably gonna end up his invisible victim one of these days, since nobody seems to care about her here. Except for Sissy, the student volunteer secretary who’s attending a normal college across the way. She and Vanya are in love, and they’ve moved in together and Sissy proposed to Vanya last week and Vanya thinks they’re maybe gonna be happy together forever. And then Five, Vanya’s only sort-of friend, climbs through her window at two in the morning covered in blood, passing out with only the words, Sorry. It’s not mine. Vanya screams, and it’s all downhill from there.
(Tango, Waltz, Ballroom) Ray is undercover with Allison, but she seems uninterested in bringing Five to justice. Not that Ray minds - she’s a pretty good judge of character, and Ray trusts her with his life, even if she seems to be hellbent on letting a serial killer go free. Ray’s also found an oddly fulfilling friendship with Klaus, and vows to make sure he gets his happy ending with Diego. But then he finds Ben’s bloody and beaten body in the second floor bathroom after class one day and thinks, Oh. Shit.
(Ballet, Break Dance, Tango) Lila is in the know. The Handler wants someone to combat Five, who went rogue on her a year ago and only sticks around this stupid school to keep an eye on Klaus. Lila, meanwhile, is looking for a way out - Five’s not an option. He’s too sticky. But Eudora, that soccer star at the school across the street, her best friend Diego’s sister… Eudora’s a way out. (And she’s really fucking pretty too, but that’s unrelated.)
(Jock, Hip-Hop) Eudora has this weird feeling about the school she sent Diego too. If she’s being honest, she sent him there because she knows about his vigilante-ism and thought it’d give him something else to do. But when Eudora comes to visit him (and yes, maybe Lila with the eyeliner and pretty skin), she instead finds her brother’s crush tied up in the basement and screaming. And then there’s a gunshot. And then there’s nothing.
(Ballet I Guess) Dolores is the statue formally known as the “Little Dancer of Fourteen Years”. She’s at the museum right near the dance school, and Five visits her nearly every day, talking to her about any and everything. Sometimes Klaus comes with him, or Diego. Five doesn’t know why she’s important - she just is.
(Orchestra & Flamenco Teacher) Leonard is the creepy and perverted orchestra and flamenco teacher. Allison hates him on sight, but loves dancing, and can’t leave. Vanya doesn’t trust him, and he seems hellbent on treating her inappropriately, and Allison wants to fucking throttle him. But she’s sure Five will take care of it. He’s good like that.
(Ballroom Teacher) Hazel teaches ballroom dancing, and has been married to Agnes for almost twenty years now. His best friend and partner is Cha-Cha, and they both secretly work for the Handler, having been given their orders to dismantle Five. They know they’ll have to make him come to them, so they take Five’s favorite person: Klaus. It’s really such a shame that Ben boy found out what was going on and confronted them - he was far too polite to die.
(Break Dance & Hip-Hop Teacher) Cha-Cha probably wants to leave the Umbrella Academy, if she’s really honest with herself. She wants to… I don’t know, buy a boat and fuck off forever. Leave all this stupid shit behind. But now she’s got Ben’s blood on her hands and she can’t undo that, she can’t, and there’s - there’s Eudora, sweet, brave, innocent Eudora, bleeding out on the basement floor while Klaus screams. And Cha-Cha knows Diego - she’s just dug her own grave twice over.
(Ballet & Hula Teacher) Agnes is, on the contrary to most people’s expectations, not an oblivious idiot. She knows exactly what’s going on in her school. She also knows her students can handle themselves.
(First Dean, Tango Teacher) The Handler thinks she’s got all her secrets well under wraps. No one knows how many bodies she’s buried, how many students she’s killed… she’s safe from everyone but Five, the little bitch. And she thinks this up until the moment Klaus walks through her office door with a gun in his hand and the smiling ghost of Ben beside him, and realizes, Oh shit.
(Second Dean, Waltz Teacher) Reginald gives no fucks. He’s only teaching here because Pogo says it would be good for him. Granted Reginald thinks Pogo is a bit of an annoying wussy, but nonetheless he’s here. Teaching “secret” assassins how to dance. What a fucking joke.
(Counselor) Grace is everybody’s favorite person. When the school finally falls, she’s the one they all go home to. She only wishes they could learn how to dance without weapons beneath their skirts.
This turned out way darker than I intended and I am not sorry.

Sequel for how to save a life please
Sorry for the delay nonnie. You got it, here goes...For anyone who didn’t read part 1 you can catch it on AO3 HERE - Let me know what you think.
In the last part Caroline showed up hungover for her first day as a surgical intern only to discover her drinking buddy and one-night-stand is none other than her attending and famed neurosurgeon, Dr Klaus Mikaelson.
Original Synopsis from nonnie’s prompt: Caroline as Meredith Grey and Klaus as Derek Shepherd.
How to Save a Life - part 2
Tumblr media
Monday 6am
“I’m going to kill him,” she growled, holding her syringe precariously so it looked like she was cocking a firearm instead.
It had been a twenty-eight hour shift so far and she decided to blame it on that if they decided to report her for malpractice or for ‘accidentally’ killing an attending.
“Easy, tiger,” Kol offered, lowering her arm in the process. “I’m only an intern but maybe we should be conserving the life saving drugs for the actual patients. You know, just a thought.”
“Cute,” she drawled by way of response. Caroline wasn’t hungover this time, which was definitely a bonus, but it didn’t stop Doctor know-it-all from sharing his opinion more than a few times throughout her never-ending shift.
“No Dr Forbes, not that way Dr Forbes, listen carefully Dr Forbes,” he’d chide, except he sounded so sexy and authoritative when he called her Dr Forbes. And that was every shift, not just this one. If he didn’t have such a pretty face, she’d most likely slap him, even if it was frowned upon in the workplace.
“Trust me, I’ve been in your position too many times to count and letting him get to you is not the way to handle things,” Kol broke into her Klaus Mikaelson trance, which was probably a good thing.
But then his words caught her attention. Too many times to count? It was only day nine. What exactly had Kol done to earn his wrath in that short amount of time?
Caroline looked at him curiously, besides his first name she didn’t know much about her fellow intern, except the fact he liked to talk a lot when most people weren’t interested in hearing what he had to say. He’d also taken an instant liking to Bonnie which definitely hadn’t gone unnoticed.
“Who are you?”
“Just your friendly, fellow intern who has impeccable hygiene,” he offered, sending her his most dazzling smile. “And while we’re on the topic.”
“Of you having impeccable hygiene?”
“Yes,” he answered. Caroline, meanwhile, still had no idea where this was going. She consulted her watch to hurry him up given she knew how much he liked to talk. “I understand you have a room for rent and I happen to be looking for a place to stay.”
Obviously word of her mom’s large house had made the rounds. Yes, she’d been looking for a third roommate but didn’t expect it to be Kol. Given both Bonnie and Kat were living in her upstairs bedrooms, Caroline wasn’t so sure it was a good idea.
“Kol, now’s not the best time...”
“I can pay you three months of rent in advance and my share of the utilities?”
Now, that proposal caught her attention. Caroline needed money and fast.  But at the same time who was this guy? And why did he have so much money to spare? Most of them were struggling to get by given the hefty school loans they had to repay.
Which brought her back to his proposal and how much she needed it. She’d just have to explain to Kat and Bonnie that she had no choice and surely they’d understand her dilemma. Well, hopefully.
“Okay, fine,” she relented. “But we’ll do it on a trial basis. Four weeks and, if that hygiene isn’t anything short of spectacular I’ll be kicking you out much sooner.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he saluted. Caroline figured most responsible people would interview someone and at least get one reference but she was far too distracted by the attending to focus on proper process.
As if on cue, Enzo was already bellowing at them from down the hall to get their asses into gear. Caroline wondered just what the patients must think of the spectacle.
“Hang on, what’s your last name?” She asked, thinking she should probably know that if they were going to be living together, but he was already making his way dutifully towards the sound of the dictator’s voice.
She’d get to the bottom of that once her shift was over. As well as drinking a much-needed glass of wine or six, her memories of that recent hangover after doing the nasty with the overbearing attending well and truly forgotten.
Until next time, of course.
“Nice of you to join us, Forbes,” he barked. “Dr Mikaelson has requested you join him at MRI.”
“Me?”
“I don’t think anyone else goes by that name, Forbes,” he growled, emphasising her surname for added effect.
“Maybe someone else could..” she could see Bonnie and Kat trying to silence her with their eyes. She wouldn’t hear the end of this after their shift.
“If you don’t get up there right now I’ll send you to do that enema. Remember Mrs Jones from last night? You know the patient that hasn’t...” Caroline didn’t need to be told twice given just what she’d have her hands elbow deep in.
“Took your time, Dr Forbes. I’m just glad this wasn’t an emergency.” He hadn’t even turned his head and was too busy consulting the on-screen images.
Rather than trying to explain herself and the fact she’d run from the ground floor ER to MRI in record time she decided to keep her thoughts to herself. Professionalism and all that, even if he was an ass.
She made her way by his side, trying to ignore just how good he smelled from this close proximity. It was a problem she’d experienced too many times to count.
“What do you see?” He asked, finally turning to look at her.
She was momentarily caught off guard given the way those navy scrubs brought out his eyes. Caroline closed her eyes briefly reminding herself that this was too important. This was work and he was her superior. Nothing else.
If only memories of their night together weren’t still so vivid and causing places to stir that really shouldn’t be stirring right now. Caroline was pretty certain if her mother was looking down on her right now she’d be extremely disappointed.
But she needed to concentrate for the patient’s sake.
“There seems to be a tumour in the left hemisphere of the cerebrum,” she noted, pointing to the screen.
“Can you tell if it is cancerous or benign?” She looked at it again closely wondering if he saw something she hadn’t, he was the neurosurgeon after all. It was too easy to second guess herself but Caroline knew she needed to own her diagnoses.
“I can’t tell from the scan.” She really hoped that was the right answer, especially given she’d been awake over 32 hours straight.
“So, based on that diagnosis, what is the required course of action, Dr Forbes?”
“Biopsy surgery.”
“And what does that entail?”
“Obtaining brain tissue samples to diagnose whether the tumour is cancerous or benign.”
“Good work, Dr Forbes,” he murmured. “I want you to scrub into the surgery.” Caroline looked at him incredulously. Trying to figure out if he had a motive but at the same time really hoping he didn’t.
“You deserve this,” he murmured kindly. Not like everything she’d experienced so far in his presence. “As much as I like to give you a hard time on the floor, you are a quick learner and you work hard. But, not gonna lie, that attitude needs some work.”
“Okay,” she replied quietly thinking the attitude was probably sexual frustration but didn’t want to share that with him. “But I fully expect you to tell me when I’m not doing a good job. I happen to be a lot more resilient than you think I am.”
“And that’s why I like you.”
Caroline decided she needed to leave the room quickly before she said or did something she might regret. Like throw her arms around him or kiss him. She was still learning how to deal with a superior she’d done the nasty with after all.
“I’ll see you in surgery,” she offered, walking out of the room, not bothering to respond or look back. She decided it was safer that way.
9 hours later...
“My butt cheeks have gone to sleep,” Kat groaned, her head hitting the bar. “I was tasked with just watching someone and that shit hurts, let me tell you.”
“Consider yourself lucky, Pierce, have you monetarily lost your hearing due to the wailings from the patient in 3A?” Kol shot back, tipping back a whiskey for his trouble.
“No, I was too busy trying to pretend I was professional during that x-ray of someone sticking random things up his, well you know what,” Bonnie shared, albeit quietly.
“You do realise you’re a surgeon and a doctor so anatomy is not a dirty subject...”
“Call it a professional courtesy,” she huffed.
“I think Bon Bon here is definitely in the wrong career, just saying.”
“If I needed your opinion Kol, I’d ask for it,” she growled.
“For the love of god, Kol,” Caroline groaned, swirling the red wine in her glass and trying not to fall into its hypnotic tendencies. “I’m barely alive here.”
“Says the girl who scrubbed into surgery today.”
This is what Caroline was worried about, the fact her friends would think it was blatant favouritism. She didn’t sign up for that. At least they didn’t about what happened with Dr Mikaelson and for that she was grateful.
“Yeah with Dr McYummy”
“Who?”
“It’s what all the nurses call him,” Kat shared. “I really think it could take off hospital-wide.”
Caroline wasn’t sure if she wanted it to and weirdly Kol seemed freaked out at the prospect too given his outraged expression.
“Or it could be one of those things that you accidentally blurt out during surgery. Like ‘here’s the scalpel, Dr McYummy’ and that’s just asking for trouble and a demotion for being unprofessional.”
Trust Bonnie to see the sense in it all.
“I’m with you Bonnie,” Kol offered. “Better we don’t equate any names with any of the attendings.” Seems like the two most expected to disagree had finally agreed on something. Hopefully that would soften the blow when Caroline decided to reveal they were all rooming together.
Caroline was still trying to get her head around everything she’d done the past ten hours, glad that she had a day off before her next shift to properly focus. And to finally get some sleep. Until it happened.
“Kol!” She looked up towards the sound.
“There goes my reputation,” her fellow intern muttered.
“Can I buy you a drink?” Caroline was trying to reconcile the intrusion in her half asleep state. But when Klaus approached their table she knew things were unfolding and not in a good way.
“And you wonder why I was so glad to move in with you,” Kol whispered before their attending appeared in all his glory. Something she wasn’t expecting and was trying to .
“So, you two know each other?” She asked, probably against her better judgment.
“Siblings,” Kol offered gingerly.
“And you two?” Klaus asked, his expression telling her he was trying not to show his jealously but killing his brother wouldn’t be out of the question.
“We live together.”
If this was supposed to feel awkward then it really did now.

Diego Hargreeves x reader I Here and There part 2
Part one
Diego Hargreeves x reader Word count: 1923 Warnings: Language
Tumblr media
"Hold on," you held up a hand, the other firmly entertained with Diego's. "You're saying that dad assassinated Kennedy?" "Let's not jump to conclusions." Five reasoned. "What the hell else is he doing standing on a grassy knoll, holding an open black umbrella on a sunny day in Dallas the exact moment the president gets shot?" Diego fired back at him, his grip tightening. "You have to admit, it doesn't look good, Five." Five frowned. Diego got a strange look on his face- similar to Elliot's before he started spouting off about us being aliens. "No, he's the signalman for the whole goddamn thing." "Easy, Diego." You started, but he cut you off. "This is what Hazel was trying to tell you." Diego turned to Five who had an exasperated look on his face. "We have to stop Dad from killing the president." Five rolled his eyes. "Diego, calm down, all right? Dad was no boy scout, but presidential assassination? It's never been his thing." "How would you know?" Diego's voice lowered, you knew you had to put a swift end to this conversation. Five stepped closer to the two of you, a hard glint in his eyes. "You think I had it easy? I was alone for 45 years-" "We don't have the time for this right now!" You interrupted, dropping Diego's hand to stand between the two boys. "He's clearly in Dallas so let's go talk to him. Maybe he can help us fix the timeline." "Dallas is a big place. We need to find him first." Five rolled his eyes again. "Gee, if only we had some magical, old-timey way of finding people and their addresses." Diego opened his mouth to shoot something back at Five's bitter sarcasm, but you cut him off, "alright," you said. "Let's go."  _______________________________________________________________ Lila and Diego piled into the car first. As you went to follow, Five gripped your arm and pulled you aside. "Five?" "I need you to find the others," he said. "What? No, I'm helping you find Dad." "We've got it covered. Look, out of the three of us, the others like you the most. They'll listen to you. I need you to bring them back to Elliot's and wait for us there,." You wanted to argue, but upon seeing the desperation in his eyes, nodded in silent agreement. ________________________________________________________________ You knew tracking them down would be hard, but you didn't think it'd be this hard. You managed to find Luther, but he turned you away like he had Five: rather rudely. Vanya was completely M.I.A. and the only Allison in the address book was an "Allison Chestnut." That left Klaus. The only lead you had were some rumors surrounding a magical cult-leader living in a mansion here in Dallas. If anything screamed "Klaus," it was that. Deciding that it was too late to ask around for help without sounding crazy, you headed back to Elliot's. It was dark. The only light filtered down from the second floor, casting a faint orange glow around the space. You walked in to see Lila straddling a very naked Diego. You froze in the doorway. Five sauntered up from behind you. "Oh, he isn't dead." He said casually, as if remarking on the weather. Lila didn't look up, her gaze entirely focused on the man in front of her. Your man. "Disappointed?" She asked, "To see you? Always." Five gave her a tight smile. Why was she sitting on Diego? Was something wrong? Was there something... between them? "So much hostility in such a tiny package. Did you cut yourself shaving? I could teach you to shave like a big boy." No, that's impossible. Diego would never do that to you. Five looked away. "No, I just ran into an old family friend." His cryptic answer was enough to reanimate you. Tearing your gaze away from Diego you asked, "Who?" He remained silent. Lila rolled her eyes. "You still don't trust me?" "Am I supposed to?" Diego groaned. Lila pressed her hands to his lower abdomen gently, but firmly. Lila stared at you. "Are you just going to stand there?" "I-" "Y/n?" Diego's voice was characteristically soft. You hurried over to him and brushed the hair off his forehead. "Hey, you." His lips twitched into a small smile before his eyes slipped closed again. "What happened?" "His Dad," Lila replied bluntly; then climbing off him said, "He's all yours. I'm gonna get some sleep." You perched yourself on the edge of the sofa. You examined the bandages wrapped around his midsection. "Dad did this?" Five gave you a sharp nod.  "Pogo," he made a vague gesture at his face, "did this." "Pogo." He waved your surprise away. "Any luck with the others?" You sighed. "No sign of Allison or Vanya. And I might have a lead on Klaus." He considered this for a moment. "Luther?" You crossed your arms. "Luther is a dick." Five cocked his head. "That, we can agree on. You said you have a lead on Klaus?" A nod. "Follow up on it tomorrow." Another nod, and he was gone.
________________________________________________________________ Rays of sun streaming through a window woke you up the next morning. You were still of the sofa, head resting on Diego's chest, a hand carding lazily through your hair. "Diego?" You murmured sleepily. "Y/n?" Your head shot up. Diego. "You're awake! I need to redress your bandages." "Woah, Y/n, sow down." He caught your hand mid-reach to the table beside you. "I will not 'slow down,' you almost bled out!" His eyes softened. "I know, and I'm sorry. But-" "Diego, you're awake. Good." Five strolled into the room with a cup of what was probably his second cup of black coffee. "Five." Diego winced as he tried to sit up. "Did you find anything last night?" "Of course. Unlike you, I can do my job without getting stabbed." "Five," you warned. He waved your comment away. "Y/n, I'll take care of Diego from here. Go find Klaus." You glanced back at Diego who gave you a slight nod. "Fine." You stood and pressed a kiss to Diego's forehead before heading outside. ________________________________________________________________ You stood outside a large, stone building. Klaus lives here? You wondered. The lights were off so you snuck around back. A pale man with long hair and a strange tattoo was drinking on a pink floaty in the swimming pool. "Klaus?" He startled. "Y/n?" "Oh, my God!" You cried, yanking your shoes off to jump into the pool while he awkwardly paddled toward you. The two of you collided, throwing your arms around each other excitedly. "It's really you," you breathed. "I thought I was the only one left." You pulled back and gripped his arms. "We have so much to catch up on." Hopping onto the wall you asked, "So, how did you end up in a place like this?" He reclined on his floaty again. "Oh... you know, dicks, drugs, debuntes. My holy trinity." "Klaus, you started a cult." You kicked at the water, enjoying its coolness against your bare toes. "'Cult' is a very negative word, y/n. We prefer to call it 'an alternative spiritual community,'" Klaus explained. "Nope," you giggled, "You definitely started a cult." "Alright, alright, alright. Enough about me. What about you?" You sighed deeply. Where to begin?________________________________________________________________ "I'm telling you, Diego. I don't trust her. And neither does Five." "So you're siding with Five now?" "Really? That's your takeaway from this?" "I can't do anything right can I?" "Where was she last night?" "What?" "She disappeared, didn't she? Where did she go? We don't know anything about her." "I don't know." "Exactly." "Y/n, why can't you just trust me?" "Why can't you trust me?" Diego opened his mouth, but before he could answer, Five materialized. "I found Vanya."
________________________________________________________________ "Diego," you hissed. "I can't dance." He smirked, "Just follow my lead." He gripped your waist tightly, drawing you close to him. You swayed to the music, focusing only on the rhythm and the feeling of Diego pressed up against you. "Diego, about earlier..." "I'm sorry." "What?" "I was being stupid and defensive and I'm sorry." You smirked, "That sounded physically painful." "I-" You pulled him down by his collar and kissed him deeply. His brought a hand up to tangle in your hair. "I love you," he murmured against your lips. You brought your mouth to his ear, "I love you, too," you whispered softly. He suddenly tensed. "Diego?" "Mom?"
________________________________________________________________
"Five!" You cried as a white-haired man flipped him over his shoulder and slammed the 45 year old teenager into the floor. Diego gasped from behind you, a leather strap wrapped around his neck. "Shit, Diego!" You flipped your wrist and sent a wave of purple energy at the man. Diego dropped to the ground. He looked up at you and his face twisted in panic. "Wha- AH!" The third man had snuck up behind you and punched you in the back of the head with his metal knuckles. Diego struggled to his feet to help you, but the man you'd sent flying was back and began throwing punches. Despite staggering back from the blow, you stayed standing and whirled around to face him. Your fists were coated in purple as you fired shot after shot at him. He dodged every one. You raised an eyebrow. "Not bad." He remained impassive. "But not good enough." He cocked his head. Putting your hands together, you focused your energy on him and threw him through the wall. Lila came running up the stairs; she met your eyes then looked back at Five who was getting his ass kicked. You nodded and both sprinted in opposite directions- you to Diego, and her to Five. ________________________________________________________________ "One of us is dead." Diego said, staring down at his plate. Klaus started talking to something behind him, must be a ghost. "Regardless," Reginald said, what would possess me to adopt eight ill-mannered malcontents?" "We all have special abilities," explained Five. Diego slid the photograph of Reginald at the assassination across the table. "Explain that," he demanded. Reginald Hargreeves stared hard at it then looked up, almost disappointingly, at Diego. "Well. I suppose you've solved it. You'e single-handedly unearthed my nefarious plot. Is that what you want to hear? You fancy yourself a do-gooder? The last man who will save us from our descent into corruption and conspiracy? This is a fantastic delusion. You're a tragic man, desperately unaware of his own insignificance; desperately clinging to his own ineffectual reasoning." You were frozen. Diego was too, until he sunk back down into his seat beside you. Instead of responding, or firing back some rude remark, he stuttered out a weak, "You're wrong." You immediately grabbed his hand and said loudly, "how dare you. You have no right to speak to him like that, to any of us like that. You're a monster who bought children and turned them into soldiers." "Y/n, your hand." You stared down at the hand not holding Diego's and saw it sparking with violet light. Five, seizing the moment to change the subject, said, "Look, we have a catastrophic war coming in five days. We need to figure out how to stop it." A/n: I'm working on the third and final part. I'll have it up as soon as I can! As always, thanks for reading and lmk what you think :) Tag list: @jasminhargreeves

Unforgettable Memory
Hey, Happy Holidays @blueberrin I’m your Secret Santa! I’m so excited to give you your gift, but I must apologize for any grammar mistakes. (Writing this out on a phone was a pain but enjoyable nonetheless.) Regardless, I hope today is filled with lots of laugh and fun! ❤
“Are you...serious?”
“Of course I am. Why wouldn’t I be?”
Liz spoke hesitantly, trying to push out the words that had formed a lump in her throat. “This isn’t the first time that someone did this.”
“Liz...I swear to you, I’m not doing what Klaus made you do all that time ago.”
Liz looked at Zeus and then at the ring in his hands. Before she had confessed to Zeus, a certain someone else had invited her to a big gathering to pose as their fiance. It was a sense of deja vu to her when Zeus invited her to a big family gathering at the Brundle estate for the holidays. Gulping softly Liz’s hands became shaky.
“Liz, I swear to you, I’ll make you happy.” Zeus never broke eye contact with her
Staring at his eyes, Liz knew just how serious he was. A wave of relief gently washed over her as her hands reached out to rest on Zeus’ shoulders. “I know...that’s why I…” Tears gently began to fall down her face as she tried to finish her sentence. “...yes”
“Yes?”
Tears began to fall down her face as she nodded. Zeus’ eyes went wide and a smile formed on his face as he scooped Liz right off her feet, spinning her around.
“She said yes!” Zeus shouted happily.
“She said yes?!” A muffled voice asked from behind them; it was Hiro who was currently munching on some snacks that he had brought for the trip.
“That’s right, she did.” Zeus was practically beaming from ear to ear as he gently pressed his lips against Liz’s, giving a tender kiss before pulling away.
Hiro’s eyes widened before dropping his snacks to the ground. He ran over and hugged the both of them with a big smile on his face. Meanwhile the sounds of soft clapping ensued from those around who had watched the scene unfold.
Afterwards, the group finally made their way to the train station and waited for the train to pull in. Liz’s heart practically leapt from her chest as she held her hand up in the sunlight; the beautiful ring on her finger sparkled elegantly against its rays and before she knew it, tears were beginning to build up, causing her vision to get slightly blurry. She took notice of this fact and quickly wiped her eyes with her sleeve before turning her attention over to Zeus.
He seemed to be having a chat with Hiro who punched him in the arm, causing the both to laugh. Liz couldn’t remember a day where she had seen Hiro this happy, but for good reason too. Zeus and him were practically like brothers and the news made Hiro ecstatic.
Just as Liz was about to say something, the sound of a whistle echoed out in the distance, drawing her attention elsewhere. It was at that time that Hiro and Zeus joined her; Zeus wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her close to his side.
“You think that’s our train?”
“Should be.”
“Are you getting nervous?” Zeus looked down, his eyes meeting hers.
“A little.” Liz spoke as she shifted in her position. “I mean, this is the first time I’ve ever been to your estate, let alone to meet your parents. I suppose I’m a little nervous.”
“But you’ve gone to the Goldstein's estate before.” Zeus pointed out.
“That’s different, Zeus. They’re my friends and you’re my boyrfrien- fiance.” Liz quickly corrected with a slight blush on her cheeks. “ What if your parents don’t approve of me?”
“That’s unlikely, they’re going to absolutely love you, Liz.”
“But how can you be so sure?”
“Zeus isn’t lying.” Hiro spoke up. “His family might bear a noble name, but they’re some of the nicest people in all of Queensblade. Trust me, you really do have nothing to worry about.”
Zeus gave her a reassuring kiss on her cheeks as the train slowly pulled into the station. Once all the passengers were off, a man’s voice called out, alerting that this would be the final train to Queensblade for the day, due to possible hazardous weather conditions later throughout the day. The three of them hurriedly boarded the train and found their seats.
After a couple of minutes, the train slowly lurched forward, departing on it’s journey. Meanwhile, Liz began to fidget a bit with her fingers as she looked out of the window, watching the scenery pass by as a blur. Suddenly, Liz remembered something and quickly looked over at Zeus and Hiro who were playfully pestering one another.
“Hey, do you two remember what the station master said?”
“Huh? You mean about this being the last train?”
“Well yes, but also no. He mentioned something about hazardous conditions.”
“Oh yeah, I heard talk about some crazy winter storm that could be blowing in.”
“I see…”
“I wouldn’t worry about it though, we get these kinds of scares in Queensblade a lot, but half the time nothing happens.”
“King Kook over there is right.” Hiro chimed in with agreement.
“Oh, that reminds me!” Liz decided to change the subject as she quickly rummaged in her bag, pulling out a cutely wrapped bag filled with cookies. “I made these earlier since I knew we’d be travelling for a little while.”
With hungry eyes, Zeus quickly snatched the bag from Liz’s hands and opened it with ease as he began devouring the cookies inside.
“Hey, King Kook, leave some for me!” Hiro shouted while reaching out for the bag which Zeus hastily pulled away from his reach.
“No way, you brought your own snacks!”
“You ate most of them!”
“Well too bad!”
“Alright, that’s it!” Hiro quickly placed his hand on the sheath of his sword, clearly ready for a fight.
Zeus wasn’t backing down either and within a few seconds the ground beneath him began to glow. Liz knew what was about to happen and quickly jumped in between the two, despite the train still moving. She stood her ground though and managed to keep her balance before holding up another bag of cookies and handing it to Hiro.
“I brought enough for both of you, now would you please stop fight- ah!”
The screeching of the train’s wheels on the rails was all Liz heard before being thrown off balance completely, falling into Zeus who quickly caught her and pulled her on his lap. The bag of cookies fell to the floor, its contents spilling out.
“Liz, are you alright?” Zeus looked at her worriedly and sighed in relief when she nodded her head.
“I’m fine...but your cookies on the other hand…”
“Forget about that, as long as you're safe that’s what matters.”
“Ugh...can you two get a room?” Hiro asked before handing his bag over to Zeus. “I think I’ve lost my appetite.”
Suddenly, a man entered and looked around frantically. “I thought I heard a scream, is everything alright here?”
“Yes, we’re fine here. What happened by the way?”
“I’m afraid there’s been an accident up ahead.  Seems that a farmer from a nearby village was transporting his sheep, but something happened and the sheep escaped and ran out onto the track. I’m afraid we’ll be delayed for a bit.”
“Hey, you know I don’t think we’re that far from Queensblade. If worse comes to worse we could probably just walk there.”
“Looking out the window, Zeus gave his head a good nod. “Yeah, you’re probably right. But do we really want to go out and walk in the freezing cold for that long?”
“In that time, the track could be cleared and we’d already be there.” Hiro argued.
“I must advise you on one more thing.” The man spoke up. “We’ve received word that a heavy snowstorm is slowly making its way to Queensblade. I’m worried you may get caught up in it.”
“Wait, but if the snowstorm makes it there before the train does, that means we’ll be delayed again right?” Liz asked.
“Yes, if the weather doesn’t permit any travelling then we aren’t going to put our passengers at risk.”
“How long do you think it’ll be until the storm arrives?”
“I’d wager anywhere from half to an hour.”
“That doesn’t give much time, does it?”
“I have an idea. Hiro, Zeus, I want you to help me okay?” Liz quickly hopped off of Zeus’ lap and ran to the nearest exit.
“Liz?! What are you doing?”
Hiro sighed and joined as Zeus bolted from his seat to go after Liz. “Always a lively outing with these two.” He mumbled.
Not far from the train were a flock of sheep that an old man was desperately trying to herd back into his buggy. He seemed out of breath and soon leaned up against it.”
“These darn sheep just won’t listen to anything I say!”
“Sir?”
“Huh?”
“What exactly happened?”
The old man sighed. “I’ve been relocating my farm animals to my new farm. But it seems my bad memory caught up with me and I didn’t lock the back of the buggy all the way and these slippery heathens just took off!”
“I see. Well could you give us a few minutes? We'll have all your sheep back in there in no time.”
“What? Are you serious - hey!”
The three wasted no time with their efforts. Liz used her abilities to talk and coax the frantic sheep back into the buggy while the rowdier ones were dealt with by Hiro and Zeus who lifted and carried them with ease. Within mere minutes the sheep were cleared from the rails and were safely secured this time in the back of the farmer’s buggy. The old man gave a grateful bow before taking off in his horse and buggy.
Once all was done, the three headed back to the train and boarded once more. This time there were no setbacks and the three had made it to the station; and just in time too.
“Looks like this will be the final train of the day to and from Queensblade.” Hiro pointed out.
“We barely made it.” Zeus turned his attention to Liz as they stepped foot into the station. “Why did you do it?”
“It’s the holidays, Zeus. The other people on that train were probably trying to make it home to see their families.” Liz stated. “Point is, we made it, didn't we?” she smiled.
“Yes but you were cutting it very close.” A new voice drew the attention of three, but Zeus just smiled before going up and slapping the man on the back.
“Good to see you Edwin!”
The man coughed slightly from the force. “Yes, same to you, Mr. Brundle. Enough with the chatter, we have to get you to the estate, your parents have been waiting for your arrival. They were growing worried when the heard news of bad weather. Coupled with the fact that the train had yet to arrive until now...well, I was afraid I would have to give the bad news that you wouldn’t be arriving today.”
Zeus scoffed. “As if. Do you really think that some snowstorm poses a threat to the pinnacle of all creations?”
Hiro rolled his eyes with a sigh. “Here he goes again.”
Liz chuckled as she wrapped an arm around Zeus’, drawing Edwin’s attention.
“Ah, so this must be the special guest I’ve heard so much about.”
“You’ve...heard about me?”
“Yes. A numerous number of times.” Edwin smiled before going to the horse drawn carriage nearby, opening the doors and gesturing for them to come over.
“You never mentioned anything about a carriage.” Liz whispered to Zeus.
“How else did you think we’d be going to the estate?”
Zeus gave a cocky grinned, causing Liz to shake her head as Edwin helped her into the carriage. Zeus joined her shortly while Hiro sat on the opposite end. Meanwhile, Edwin began loading their luggage before taking his seat, ushering the horses forward. Before long the carriage was filled with chatter, playful pestering and laughter as they made their way to the estate. The path began to get smooth compared to the rather bumpy start and as they made their way up the hill, Liz’s eyes widened.
A beautiful building, almost castle-like rested prominently on a beautifully decorated landscape. This wasn’t her first time being invited to somewhere extravagant, but this really took the cake. Noticing her stare, Zeus chuckled and gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
“At a loss for words?”
Liz could only muster a soft nod, drawing out another laugh from Zeus and this Hiro as well this time. As the carriage pulled up to the front gate, Liz could hear the chatter between two others before the gate was open and the carriage made its way through. Once they came to a complete stop, the doors to the estate swung open revealing a beautiful woman locked arms with her husband. Liz caught a glimpse of them and was at a loss for words. They gave off such a regal demeanor, which wasn’t surprising considering they were nobles, but for some reason just being in their presence felt almost...intimidating. Zeus gripped her hand reassuringly with a smile before helping her out of the carriage once Edwin had opened the doors.
“Zeus!” The woman called out to him joyfully as she made her way over. Your father and I were worried that you weren’t going to be able to make it.”
“We heard news about a possible delay due to an accident happening on the rails. I’m relieved to know you’re alright.”
“It was nothing more than a little sheep accident.” Zeus smiled. “But we took care of it thanks to Liz here.” Zeus gestured to Liz.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you both.” Liz smiled.
“Oh dear, the pleasure is all ours; and no need to be so formal.” Zeus’ mother smiled. “Zeus has told us all about you in the letters he’s written to us, why, you’re practically family already.”
A slight blush formed on Liz’s cheeks as her gaze went downward.
“But enough about that, you should all go inside and warm up. We’ll make sure Edwin brings your luggage to your rooms.” Zeus’ father smiled as he and his wife headed back inside the estate.
“Come on, I’ll show you to my room.”
“Wait, we’re sharing a room?”
“Well of course. We’re engaged now aren’t we? Even if we weren’t, I’d still want you to stay in my room.” Zeus smiled as he led her inside.
The inside of the house was just as regal as the outside. Marble pillars with gold speckles adorned the entrance, as they continued walking further inside, Liz felt a sense of coziness. They soon ascended the grand staircase and walked down a long hallway before Zeus finally stopped in front of a door and opened it. The room was unlike anything Liz had ever seen before. The large room had marble flooring, similar to the pillars downstairs. In one corner of the room sat a beautifully adorned fireplace in what looked to be a study area. There was no door separating it, but rather a golden arch.
As she continued looking around, Liz took note of the number of windows adorned with antique curtains. One window in particular was larger than the rest, bearing a window sofa with an amazing view of the outside landscape. Taking a seat, she peered outside, watching as gray clouds cloaked the sky. She could hear footsteps from behind her, followed by a pair of arms that wrapped around her waist before the person in question of such gestures, took a seat beside her.
“Enjoying the view?”
“Yes, very.” Liz smiled. “You have such a beautiful garden. I’m surprised that there are still flowers growing in such cold conditions.”
“Oh, that’s because those are special flowers that came from Graceus. They’re made to withstand the harsh winter conditions.”
“Really? That’s amazing.”
“Maybe after dinner I can take you down there so you can get a closer look.”
“I’d love that, thank you Zeus.”
Taking his hand in hers, Liz gently leaned up to kiss his lips before quickly pulling away. But Zeus wasn’t satisfied with that, with gentle movements, Zeus tilted her chin back up before pressing his lips against hers. Their eyes closed as they became lost in the warmth not realizing that Edwin was at their door with their luggage until the sound of him clearing his throat filled the room. Liz quickly pulled away from Zeus who seemed to sigh in frustration at the poorly timed visit.
“Sorry for interrupting, but I’ve received word from your parents that the banquet will begin in a few hours. Guests are on their way now as we speak.”
“Yeah yeah, just leave our luggage and go.”
After the luggage was sat down and the door was shut, Zeus looked at Liz before sighing once more.
“Guess our fun is going to have to wait.”
“Guess so.”
The next couple of hours went by like a breeze and it was time for the banquet. Liz looked herself over in the mirror once more, she had done this many times and although Zeus had complimented her many times, she still wondered if it would be enough to impress his family.
“You know.” Zeus walked in as he straightened out his attire. “You’re trying way too hard. My parents already adore you, you know?”
“Yes that may be so but I at least want to give a good impression. After all, you’re telling them about our engagement tonight, aren’t you?” Liz asked softly.
“That’s right and I don’t think they’ll have any issues with that. If they do then that’s their problem.”
“Z-Zeus!”
“What? I’m being serious. I don’t need their acceptance for our engagement. I love you and that’s final. The pinnacle of all creations doesn’t need approval from anyone else but you.” Zeus gave a cocky grin. “I’ll meet you outside of the door alright? We’ll walk down together.”
Liz stared at her reflection, almost as if she was giving herself a silent prep talk to wash away any remaining anxious thoughts. Once done, she walked out of the room and then proceeded to walk down the stairs, arm linked with Zeus’.
By the time they reached the dining hall dinner was about to be served. Zeus led her to a couple of empty seats where they sat side by side. Just as they got settled dishes of all varieties were being placed down, some of which Liz had never even seen before. After everything was placed, Mr. Brundle gently clinked on his glass, drawing the attention of all the guests.
“Before we dig in to this beautiful feast before us, I’d just like to say a few words. I want to thank everyone for being able to make it out here today. The holiday season is usually hectic for all of us and this year with the threat of bad weather, I wasn’t sure if anyone would be able to make it. But here I am, standing before loved ones and even some new faces.” Mr. Brundle laughed. “I know we don’t see one another for most of the year, so today more than ever, let’s celebrate and make this holiday gathering another one to remember!”
“Here, here!”
Voices erupted as the other guests held up their glasses. It was at that time that Zeus cleared his throat and stood up.
“I have something important to say as well. This holiday season means a lot to all of us since we don’t see each other often. After graduating and continuing on with my life, I know more than ever how important this gathering means to me. But it means a lot more to me for another reason. I know that some of yu already know about my relationship with a girl named Liz. Well she’s here today, but not as my girlfriend.” Zeus smiled and Liz could feel her heart begin to race. “But as my fiance.”
The minute that Zeus finished his sentence, his mother gasped loudly and everyone looked on with widened eyes. It wasn’t until Mrs. Brundle spoke up that the others began to congratulate the both of them. After that, conversation began to go smoothly and before long Liz was talking to the others as if they were good friends. Laughter and all things merry filled the room that night and when the banquet had concluded the rest of the festivities were about to be in full swing.
But before Liz was able to go and join the others, Mrs. Brundle pulled her to the side, asking to talk to her.
“What is it you wanted to talk about?” Liz asked curiously.
“Well I wanted to give you a proper welcome, Liz.”
“Proper welcome?”
“To the family, dear. I know, I know, it’s so soon to be saying that but looking at you two tonight, reminded me of when I fell in love with my husband. I’ve never seen Zeus smile so much before. I do hope this means we’ll be seeing you more often when Zeus comes to visit?”
“Of course. I would love to come back here again sometime in the future.”
“Good, because we’d love to have you.” Mrs. Brundle chuckled before leaving.
Liz’s smile grew wider as she ran off to find Zeus, who was currently taunting Hiro, probably after having their usual banter. Liz had came here as a stranger and left as part of the family, this would be one holiday outing that she would remember for the rest of her life.

The Eighth Child (~TUA AU~) - Season 2
Chapter 5: Saving Private Dave
Warning: Strong language, mention of violence, death and racism, implied smut
(The Eighth Child Masterlist)
Tumblr media
- Are you sure you can drive? - I looked at Klaus with fear in my eyes.
- Yeah! Don't you trust me? - He held my chin before giving me a kiss - I've gotten so much better over the years, I'm a terrific driver now.
- That's what worries me, I don't wanna get too... Terrified.
Klaus and I had the best idea to get Raymond out of jail. We told Allison to go to her meeting and tell everyone the sit-in was still on, meanwhile, we headed to the police station and Ben would use his "persuasion skills" to scare the guards into releasing our brother-in-law.
Ben was happy to help, he was very excited actually, he had some great ideas, like writing on the typewriter to let the guard know exactly what we wanted. Everything worked out perfectly, in about five minutes Raymond was being released.
- Don't gloat - Klaus said to Ben.
- Says the man who lives to gloat... - I joked.
- Oh, shut up - Klaus giggled - I'm a very humble person, I would never...
- You! You got me out? - A tall black man wearing a very nice white shirt and trousers asked, walking in our direction.
- I told you, Ray, I have friends in... High places - Klaus smiled, fixing the collar of his striped silk shirt.
- I don't know what to say... - Raymond shook his head in disbelief.
- Don't say a word, anything for family, brother!
Klaus opened his arms, going in for a hug. Raymond was clearly uncomfortable with that, but that has never stopped Klaus before... Poor baby is so touch starved, he will take any chance he can get.
- We are all brothers, beneath the skin - Raymond said.
- No - Klaus took off his sunglasses - no, literally, you're our brother-in-law we're Allison's siblings... Come here, come say hi.
- Hey - I walked over to them with an awkward smile and shook Raymond's hand.
- What? - He looked at us as if he was staring at two aliens.
- Yeah, man, family barbecues are about to get real weird - Klaus chuckled - this is Ray. Ray, this is Victoria, Vicky if you're nasty... My beautiful girlfriend.
- It's a pleasure to meet you - I smiled.
- Wait, she's Allison's sister too... And your girlfriend? How does that work?
- Some things are better left unexplained - Klaus tapped his shoulder - later, bro.
Klaus put his arm around my waist as we left the station.
- That was... Weird - I said when we got in the car.
- He better get used to it, this family is a mess - Klaus replied - hey, I have a little errand to run, would you mind?
- No, not at all.
Klaus drove us near the diner where Allison would have her sit-in, I thought we were going to check on her, but instead, he parked in front of a hardware store. He looked in the mirror and then at me.
- How do I look?
- Great, as always - I sighed - why?
- No reason, come on.
Klaus left the car and opened the door for me, something he had never done before. I laughed nervously as we walked in, what the hell was wrong with him?
- Can I help you? - I heard a young man ask.
When I turned around my mouth dropped, my stomach turned with a feeling I  couldn't quite describe:
- Dave... - I muttered.
- That's what it says on my name tag - he smiled, just as pretty as I remember, or even more.
- Look at you, with your jokes and your name tag... - Klaus' voice was shaking.
- Can I help you find anything? - Dave looked at him.
"This is why we came to Dallas... This might be your dumbest idea yet and you're pretty dumb" Ben thought and I nodded in agreement without realizing.
- Just don't! - Klaus snapped.
- You're alright, mister? - Dave seemed a bit worried.
- Yeah, I'm totally fine... I just um... - Klaus sighed - Paint.
- Paint? - Dave repeated.
- Yeah, I'm remodeling the second bathroom... - Klaus tried his best to sound relaxed - And I need some paint.
- Sure thing, what color paint are you looking for?
- Oh, I don't know... - Klaus chuckled softly - Eggshell?
I pinched the bridge of my nose, shaking my head. God! Where did all his game go? What about this guy made him so flustered?
- Eggshell? How do you mean eggshell?
- You know, like white... Or like off-white, like an eggshell - Klaus tried to explain.
- We're fresh out of white - Dave turned to check the shelves - but I do have Mamie Pink on special, which always goes very nice in the latrine. I'm sure your wife will love it.
- My wif... Oh her? - Klaus looked at me - Yeah, I'm sure she will, right, love? Sounds perfect.
- Yeah... - I said uncomfortably - I love pink.
"Is this considered stalking?" Ben's thought made me laugh, which I hid behind my hand. Dave took the paint to be mixed and Klaus looked at him hypnotized as he flexed his muscles during the process.
- Don't drool... - I teased.
- Shut up, both of you - Klaus whispered.
The rattling of the machine seemed to make Klaus upset, he stared at it with a sad look, and from what I could read in his mind he was having a flashback from war. Oh, how I wish I could wipe those painful memories away...
- All set - Dave said right after Klaus paid him.
- Thanks - he smiled.
- You're welcome - God, why is his face so perfect? It's impossible to hate him, he's so nice!
Klaus took both gallons of paint and we went back to the car.
- Why don't you stay out of my business, Casper? - He said.
Great... Now I had to watch him fight with Ben too! I just quietly observed the ridiculous display. For some reason, I couldn't hear Ben's arguments this time. This damn power, I need to learn how to control it.
- Damn it, listen to me! - Klaus turned to the backseat - When we were on leave in Saigon, Dave told me about the day he enlisted, it was the same day that Kennedy was murdered and if would please just leave me alone for five goddamn minutes, then maybe I can convince him not to sign up to that stupid war and maybe I can save his life!
- You have such a big heart - I said with a sad smile.
- What's wrong, Liebling? - Klaus took my hand.
- Nothing is wrong.
- I know that shit usually works with boyfriends, but not when they have known  you since the day you were born. Spit it out...
- No, Klaus! Stop pushing me - I tried to hold back my tears.
- Shit... I should've known you'd be jealous.
- I'm not! I'm not jealous of Dave! I understand your love for him, I've always been supportive of it.
- You're right, you always have, but that doesn't mean it's not hurting you...
- It's just a little sad that your heart needs place for two and mine only has place for one.
- My heart is big enough for the both of you, you know that. I have loved you for as long as I can remember, but I can't lie to myself and say I didn't love Dave as well. Love is not like... A bag of chips. It doesn't run out faster when you share it, it only gets bigger.
- I know, I understand why you're doing this - I turned away from him - and I'll just keep being supportive like I've always been. Fuck, I'm such an idiot!
- You're not an idiot! You're one of my favorite people in this world, you have nothing to be jealous of - Klaus kissed my lips - but you look very cute when you are.
I opened the door and hopped out of the car.
- Whatever you say...
- Come on, where are you going?
- I hear the police, I'm gonna check on Allison in case they decide to do something dumb.
- Wait, I'll go with you!
- No, stay there. I'm the bulletproof one, not you.
"Vicky is an angel for taking all your shit..." Ben thought and I rolled my eyes. When I walked in the diner, Allison and her group were sitting down at the counter while a swarm of angry white people screamed at them to leave.
- I see this unique character who claimes to be your brother, there was a girl with him who claims to be your sister and the fun part is they're also a couple! - I heard Raymond say.
- Klaus and Vicky... It's complicated, but it's not what you're thinking - Allison chuckled - they are adopted, we all are.
- Oh, that makes it... Less bad - Raymond said with sarcasm.
- Hey Allison - I touched her shoulder and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
- Hey, Vicky - she smiled - what are you doing here?
- Klaus had something to do and we were near, so I decided to check how things are going... Seems like it's working, I love to see racists getting pissed.
- You only say Klaus' name like this when you're upset with him, did something happen?
- No... We're totally fine - I probably sounded like I was full of it.
- Stop touching her, this is disgusting - a man behind us said.
- Excuse me? - I turned to him - She's my sister.
- Yeah, right... - He laughed.
- And the only disgusting thing I see is your racism - I added - fucking bigot.
Before he could get a word in, a man behind the counter decided to push a hot cup of coffee on Allison's lap, making her jump from her seat. A cop immediately grabbed her and Ray got up to help.
- Get your hands off her! - Raymond screamed.
- Let my sister go! - I demanded, but the cops didn't care.
Another cop grabbed Ray and a third one dragged me outside.
- Get off of me, you pig! - I fought.
- You stay out of this, this is none of your business - the cop said - a delicate girl like you can't commune with ne...
- If you say what I think you're about to say, you will regret it!
The cop didn't seem to want a fight with me, most likely because I was a harmless looking white girl... I wanted to go back inside and help Allison, but a pair of arms wrapped around me.
- Don't do this, it'll just make things worse - Klaus said - I know you want to help, but Allison is the protagonist on this mission.
- You're right, just let go of me.
- Wow... Okay. I see you're still upset - Klaus let go and we walked away from the diner to avoid the noise - I'm really sorry if I made you feel bad.
- You are just trying to help someone you love - I folded my arms.
- You're right, but that doesn't and will never mean that I love you any less. You're my partner, even he knows that.
- It's just, you got all jittery when you saw him... You never get that nervous around me - I chewed on my bottom lip.
- How could I be nervous around you? We've spent every second together for 25 years! - Klaus laughed - We've seen each other in pretty much any embarrassing situation known to man... You make me feel comfortable. I have nothing to hide around you, isn't that a good thing?
- I guess - I tried to fight a smile, unsuccessfully - I have seen some pretty disgusting stuff...
- And you still love me! If dating someone after seeing them wax their ass with chocolate pudding is not true love, I don't know what is.
- I love you, dummy.
- That's my girl... - He grinned - I love you too.
When we looked back at the diner, there was a full-blown riot happening, the police was attacking every black protestor in sight and even the fire department was there.
- Shit... - Klaus hissed.
- Let's go!
We both ran towards the chaos, looking for Allison. When we finally found her, she seemed to be having a fight with Raymond.
- Alli - I called.
- We need to go, right now! - Klaus held her hand.
- No, I can't... - Allison looked back at Ray.
- Before you get hurt, let's go! - I screamed.
Klaus drove us to her home, a very nice place, but a little bit far from his mansion.
- It's getting late, maybe you should just stay here for the night - Allison said - you shouldn't drive all the way back.
- Are you sure? We don't want to intrude - I said.
- Of course, it's really no problem, make yourselves at home - Allison smiled, but the smile didn't quite reach her eyes.
- Are you okay? - Klaus asked, noticing as well.
- Yeah, just a rough night... If you guys don't mind, I'm going to bed.
- Sure, see you in the morning - I gave her a kiss on the forehead before she went upstairs.
- So, I guess it's just you and me, Schnucki - Klaus took my hand and we headed to the couch - first time sleeping together in so long, I'm a little nervous...
- Fuck you, Klaus - I sneered playfully.
- Well, if you insist… Get on your knees and get me going, princess - he grabbed me with one hand on my back and the other one on my ass.
- Stop that! We're in Allison's living room, her husband already thinks we're freaks, we don't need him seeing this...
- It will only take five minutes.
- Maybe for you...
- You know I can make you see stars in five minutes, sweetheart.
- If he walks in on us I'll never forgive myself and neither will Allison...
- Okay, I'm going to the bathroom to get ready for sleep - Klaus said, slowly walking backwards - if you feel like joining me, I'll be more than happy to...
- Do you even have a condom?
- Always - Klaus bit his lip - so is that a yes?
- Yes! Don't let it go to your head.

For the next couple of days, you spend time with Klaus and Stefan traveling. Looking for a pack of werewolves. Klaus never told me what or whose pack we were looking for, all I knew that he was on a mission to look for a specific one. After visiting someone in Pensacola Florida, and then talking to another person in Memphis Tennesse we made our way to some other house in Tennessee.
“Athena, love. What exactly do you know about Ray Sutton?” Klaus questions from the front passenger seat of Stefan’s car. I perk up, hoping that he’s not after the pack I call my family.
“Uhhh… not much,” I respond a bit hesitantly.
“Love, there’s no reason to withhold information. I will find out one way or another,” Klaus responds turning around to look at me from the front seat.
“I don’t know much. Just that he’s in Tennessee and he took me in when I first transformed.” I sigh.
“Is that all?”
“I mean, I just know the pack members. Nothing else. I swear.” I respond getting a bit nervous. We finally make it to our next stop. Klaus explains the plan as we stop a couple of feet away from the house.
“Now, stay in the car and don’t make a sound. We’ll be right back, love”  Klaus says as him and Stefan get out of the car. As I wait for them to finish their job I sit impatiently hoping we can just get a move on.
I see Klaus make his way to the car as I hear screaming, “You’re lucky there’s no one else around, I can hear the screaming,” I say as Klaus opens the door and sits down in the passenger seat. He doesn’t respond as Stefan makes his way into the car, I hand him a napkin to wipe his face as he sits in the driver’s seat.
“Next stop Southern Comfort,” Klaus says as Stefan starts the car. We drive for a few more hours. I drift to sleep knowing that there’s nothing better to do. I wake up to us pulling up to the bar with a blanket on top of me, guessing that Klaus probably put it there.
“You up, love?” I hear Klaus’ voice say as I squint from opening my eyes.
“Good. Alright you two. Stefan you will compel the patrons to not react to our antics, so to say. When Ray walks in I’ll approach him and ask him to direct me to his pack. If he refuses, we’ll use wolfsbane,” Klaus explains holding a bag up. “If that doesn’t work. Athena, you’re the backup.” He finishes as Stefan leaves to compel the patrons.
“Shouldn’t I be first back up?” You question pulling yourself up.
“Oh, you know me,” Klaus responds as we notice Ray walking into the bar. My heart suddenly drops, wishing I could warn him. Klaus makes his way into the bar as Stefan comes to bring you through the back of the bar.
Stefan tells me to wait in the back as he and Klaus talk to Ray. I watch as they confront him. Seeing as Ray doesn’t give the pack up, thankfully, I notice Stefan pull the wolfsbane out. As Klaus chains Ray in front of the dartboard, Stefan puts some wolfsbane in a glass along with some water and swirls the darts into the mix. Ray continues to struggle as Stefan questions him and throws some darts towards him.
Not being able to handle seeing him in pain I rush out from the back, “That’s enough Stefan!” I shout making my way over to the table he’s at.
“Come on you know I can’t stop,” I ignore Stefan’s comment and make my way up to Ray.
“You’re with them?” He whispers to me in pain.
“Not on my own accord.” I look at him shifting my eyes between the darts in his body and start to pull them out. “Look, I can’t do anything to stop this. And I know you shouldn’t give up the location of the pack but, to stop this you might have to,” I say feeling tears start to well up in my eyes. I turn to look at Stefan and Klaus, noticing they won’t back down.
Ray doesn’t get a chance to respond as I notice Stefan getting ready to throw a dart. I put my right hand in front of Ray, letting the wolfsbane soaked tip impale my skin, I hiss in pain.
“Ray, we can stop this right now. Just tell me where your pack gathers for the full moon.” Stefan says making his way to the two of you. He takes my right hand in his and pulls the dart out, making me hiss in more pain as I grab the wound with my left hand.
“I can’t,” Ray breathe heavily. I drop my head hoping he would see the bigger picture, that to stop his pain he has to tell them as they won’t give up.
“I know, I know. You live by a code and all that. But see, he’s not going to let me stop, until you tell me. And I do whatever he says. That’s the way it goes around here.” Stefan explains. I notice a woman make her way to Klaus as well as Stefan take notice of the conversation between the two.
Ray looks at me with pain in his eyes. I mouth to him “I’m sorry” and his eyes change to a forgiving look. Klaus and Stefan strike a conversation about Damon getting closer to finding us. To my surprise Klaus lets Stefan go and stop Damon. Klaus makes his way over to Ray and me as Stefan leaves the bar.
“Now, Athena. Would you be a dear and assist me in interrogating Ray?” He questions me.
“Do I have a choice?” I ask back coldly.
“That’s my girl. Ray, would you please tell us where your pack is?” Klaus asks pulling me to the table where the wolfsbane mix is. Ray doesn’t speak a word.
“Alright, have it your way,” Klaus says picking the glass up and pulling to place my arm on the table. I scream in pain as Klaus starts to pour the wolfsbane mix atop my arm. I try to pull my arm away but Klaus puts a firm grip atop my arm to keep it there.
“Alright! Alright! I’ll tell you.” Ray yells and Klaus quickly stops pouring the solution. I clutch my arm to my body and squeeze tightly hoping the pain stops soon.
“Good boy. Sorry love,” Klaus turns towards me. I bring it upon myself to punch Klaus in the face, knowing he probably let me do it. I head to the bathroom to run my arm under cold water. Before I make my way out, I pull my phone from my pocket and text Elena.
Me: I’m sorry I’m missing your birthday. I hope your day is going well.
Elena: Could be better. We’re still looking for you and Stefan. Could you please tell us where you are?
Me: I can’t risk hurting you guys. We’ll be home soon, I promise.
I quickly put my phone away and leave the bathroom. When I come out I see Ray now laying atop a pool table.
“Klaus?!” I yell making my way over.
“Yes, love?” He responds.
“Ok. Stop calling me love. Just let him go.” I say staring him in the eyes.
“I can’t stop calling you love, if you are mine,” Klaus strokes my cheek but I quickly pull away. “Ok, It’s a three-step process, right? This is step one. I want you to drink from my wrist.” Klaus says walking around the pool table dismissing my request.
“I already told you where to find the pack. What more do you want from me?” Ray asks out of breath.
“Have you been listening to a word I’ve been saying, Ray? I have great plans for you.” Klaus says before slitting his wrist, letting his blood ooze out. He then forces Ray’s head up and pressing his wrist against Ray’s mouth.
“He’ll thank me for it later, heh. There we go, atta boy.” Klaus says continuing to force Ray to feed on his blood before pulling his wrist away. I notice Stefan makes his way up to us.
“What are you going to do now?” Ray asks taking deep breaths.
“It’s time for step two, Ray,” Klaus answers his question before snapping his neck. I flinch at the fact knowing Klaus just killed one of the only people I fully trust.
“Don’t worry. He’ll come back,” Klaus looks up noticing the pain in my face. “You’re back,” Klaus says looking at Stefan.
“Did you doubt me?” Stefan asks as I stand over Ray with tears filling my eyes.
“Not for a second,” Klaus responds as he wipes the tears from my eyes. I don’t even move, not caring for anything but Ray. “I knew you’d pass the test. You still care for your brother; for your old life.” Klaus states to Stefan as I sit on the floor next to the pool table.
“I don’t care about anything anymore,” Stefan responds making his way to sit at a table behind him.
“You put on a good show, Stefan. I almost believe you. Let’s hope for your brother’s sake, he does. You never stop caring about family, do you? But every time you feed, the blood makes it easier to let go.” Klaus says just barely loud enough for me to hear. Stefan storms out of the bar and Klaus makes his way over to me.
“Love, I only did what I have to,” He says putting his hand out to help me up from the floor. I don’t respond for a few minutes before getting up, without taking Klaus’ hand and following Stefan out of the bar.
When I make my way out I see Stefan on the phone. I stand and wait a bit until he hangs up the phone, “Was that Elena?” I ask making my way over Stefan. He doesn’t respond but only nods his head as I take in the pain in his face. I feel more tears run down my face before he pulls me into a hug. I don’t say anything as he lets me sob in his arms.
“We can do this. We- We can make it through this,” I say breathing heavily, pulling myself out of his arms. We wait outside for a bit until Klaus makes his way out of the bar with Ray over his shoulders.
“Next stop. The Smoky Mountains.” Klaus says pippy. I drag myself into the back of the car and just lay down, pulling the blanket over myself.
The next morning we park the car off the side of the road. Klaus directs Stefan to pick Ray’s body up, he does so and puts ray over his shoulders. Klaus then opens my door, “You’re not staying in the car.” He says lifting the blanket off me.
“Ahhh… the silent treatment. Okay,” Klaus puts up his hands as I shift out of the car and move past him.
We spend the next few hours trekking the Smoky Mountains. Of course me not being a vampire, I fall slightly behind them. As we continue through the forest, Klaus tries to strike a conversation with Stefan. Stefen seems to try and shut him down but Klaus just continues to talk.
“Maybe it’s ‘cause I’m a little tired of hunting werewolves. We’ve been at it all summer.” Stefan states to Klaus.
“Thanks to our pal Ray, We found ourselves a pack,” Klaus says as we make our way up to the camp.
“Yeh. Not just any pack. My pack.” I say under my breath.
“She speaks,” As he pulls me off to the side with him as Stefan approaches the pack.
I watch from beside Klaus as Stefan approached the pack. He put Ray’s body on the ground as Paige, the alpha, and a close friend of mine, rushed over to him, “Who are you?” She questions Stefan.
“The more important question is who am I? Please forgive the intrusion.” Klaus says as he pulls me out with him from the side.
Paige slowly gets up from her kneeling position, “Athena?” She says under her breath as I look at her concerned.
“My name is Klaus,”
“You’re the hybrid.” She says on edge.
“You’ve heard of me. Fantastic.” Klaus responds. I rush over to Paige giving her a hug to let her know that I’m ok. Klaus and Stefan sit on a log and I stay next to Paige, holding her hand, hoping it’d comfort her.
“It’s fascinating, actually. A werewolf who isn’t beholden to the moon. A vampire who doesn’t burn in the sun. A true hybrid.” Klaus explains before Ray wakes up gasping for air.
“Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic. ” Klaus smiles.
“What’s happening to me?” Rays asks clutching the ground.
“Stefan.” Klaus turns to Stefan. Stefan then explains how Ray needs human blood to finish his transformation.
“Doesn’t take much, just a sample. Anyone? A boyfriend, a girlfriend. Along for the ride?” Klaus gets up from the log and scans the group.
“You.” Klaus turns to Paige’s boyfriend, Derek, before speeding to take a bite out of his arm. He then tosses Derek to Stefan as he’s pinned to the ground.
“No!” Paige and I say almost simultaneously. The only difference was that Paige pulled away from me to try and help her boyfriend. Before she could even get close to him, Klaus grabs her by the head and holds her back.
“If you don’t drink it, Ray, I will. Problem is I don’t know how to stop.” Stefan threatens.
“It’s the new order, sweetheart. You join us, or you die.” Klaus explains keeping Paige held back.
“I’d rather die than become a vampire,” Paige responds.
“Wrong choice,” Klaus says as his eyes glow amber and the veins appear under his eyes.
“Klaus please don’t,” I move closer to the two before Klaus gives me a look warning me not to engage. He then bites his wrist and forces it upon Paige, making her drink his blood. I notice Ray make his way over to Derek and start to feed on him.
“She’ll thank me for that later,” Klaus tells the rest of the pack, before snapping Paige’s neck and dropping her to the floor.
I make my way to her body and brush her hair away from her head, “I’m sorry,” I whisper in her ear and stand up.
“Ok, Whose next?” Klaus looks at the group smiling.
“Klaus. Let the rest of them go and transform me. I’m sure this is what you have planned for me, right? That’s why you brought me along, huh? To show me,” I make my way to him.
“Ahhh. I can’t make you a hybrid before I have my pack. Be patient my love, you’ll have your turn soon.” Klaus cups my face before speeding over to kill another wolf.
After finishing killing the rest of the pack he feeds Derek his blood to heal him, “There, good as new. Now you relax, ok mate? We’re gonna need you when the rest of them wake up.” Klaus says.
“They’re dead. They’re all dead.” Ray says shuddering. I sit next to him, in hopes that I can try to comfort him.
“Ah, he’s through his transition. He should be feeling better soon.” Klaus observes Ray’s behavior.
“So is this your master plan? Build an army of hybrid slaves? Stefan questions while leaning on a tree.
“No, not slaves. Soldiers, comrades.” Klaus responds.
“But aren’t they slaves if that had no choice? Just like I’m your prisoner?” I stand up almost meeting face to face with Klaus.
“You’re not my prisoner. You choose to be here remember?” Klaus responds.
“For what war, might I ask?” Stefan butts in.
“Oh, you don’t arm yourself after war has been declared, Stefan. You build your army so big that no one ever dares to pick a fight.” Klaus replies.
“What makes you so sure that they’ll be loyal?” Stefan asks Klaus.
“Well, it’s not difficult to be loyal. When you’re on the winning team. That’s something you’ll learn once you shake that horribly depressive chip off your shoulder.” Klaus replies as Stefan just laughs.
“That’s why you’re uh, you’re keeping me around? To witness my attitude adjustment?” Stefan asks and both Klaus and I get to Ray’s level, noticing the blood coming from his eyes. Klaus turns Ray’s head towards himself.
“You’ll know why I’m keeping you around when I’d decided that I want you to know,” Klaus responds inspecting Ray’s face.
“Somethings wrong,” I say concerned as my voice wavers. Stefan bends down to see what I was talking about.
“That shouldn’t be happening, should it?” Stefan states.
“Well obviously,” Klaus says annoyed.
Klaus and Stefan stand around confused and thinking of reason’s why this was happening. “You said it was gonna feel better. Why doesn’t it feel better?” Ray says shuddering.
“You’re gonna be ok,” I say pulling Ray’s face to look at mine. “Fix this. Now!” I demand, making my way to Klaus as he crosses his arms.
“Some master race.” Stefan states.
“Lose the attitude. I’m trying to think on how to fix this.” Klaus responds.
“If you kill my pack. My family. I will never, never forgive you.” I say pissed off as Paige wakes up gasping for air. I rush over to check on her.
“Derek, come feed your girlfriend,” Klaus says not taking his eyes off the ground. Derek without hesitation gets up and lets Klaus take his arm. All of a sudden, Ray growls before taking off into the forest.
“Go get him,” Klaus says looking at Stefan. With no hesitation, I follow after. As I make my way towards the two, I see Stefan get bit by Ray.
“You okay?” I ask Stefan as I catch up.
“Yeh,” Stefan says before perking up and making his way to a cliff. I follow and lo and behold it’s Elena, Damon, and Alaric, making their way to find us.
“Where did he go?” Klaus says walking up behind us.
“He uh, he got away. Forget him. Let’s go.” Stefan walks away hoping Klaus doesn’t see the group.
Klaus stops him and looks at Stefan’s arm, “A fatal werewolf bite. Ouch.”
“Yeah. I’m gonna need your werewolf bite to heal me.” Stefan looks between his arm and Klaus.
“Well, I’ll tell you what. You find Ray, and then I’ll heal you.” Klaus tells him.
“Can’t be serious.” Stefan scoffs.
“You better hurry, ‘cause that bite looks nasty. Athena, you’re staying with me,” Klaus takes my arm. I tug my arm from him and walk back towards the camp. When we get there, the rest of the pack starts to wake up. Klaus just walks around them with a big smile on his face as I go to check on them. I then make my way back to Paige, whose sitting hold her knees to her chest. I find her whimpering with blood coming from her eyes.
“You’re gonna be ok, alright? I’m not gonna let anything happen to you.” I tell her. She doesn’t respond except for nodding her head.
I continue to check on the rest of the pack as Klaus continues to make Derek feed them his blood. After I made sure they were ok, to some extent, I make my way to Klaus, “I’m gonna head out for a bit.” I tell him with tears falling down my face.
“I didn’t say you could,” He responds wiping my face.
“Tonight is the full moon. I’m not one of your little hybrids. I can’t control my transformation. You know I’ll come back to you.” I respond.
“And why is that?”
“You know why,” I respond.
“I just want to hear you say it.”
“I made a promise to Elijah,” I turn and start walking away.
“That’s not all, Love. is it?” Klaus says. I stop in my tracks before heading off again. “I’ll see you in a couple of hours,” Klaus says as his voice gets quieter from the distance you make between you two.
I wake up a few hours after my transformation was finished to find Stefan with his back to me holding my clothes out, “Thanks,” I say and start to get dressed.
“We should head back to the camp,” Stefan says while putting Ray over his shoulders. We walk through the forest and make our way back to the camp.
Once we arrive we find Klaus drinking a beer with the pack lying dead on the forest floor, “They went rabid. Some of them, I killed. The others just...bled out. In the end...they’re all dead.” Klaus explained as  I slowly make my way around them. Klaus then throws his beer bottle to a tree behind them as I begin to cry, while still looking at their lifeless bodies.
“I did everything I was told! I should be able to turn them. I broke the curse. I killed a werewolf. I killed a vampire. I killed the doppelganger.” Klaus backtracks.
“You look like hell,” Klaus says noticing the look on Stefan’s face.
“Last I checked, I’m dying…And you don’t want to heal me,” Stefan states displaying his bitten arm. “I had to take him out. I didn’t have a choice. I failed you. I’m sorry. Do what you have to do.” Stefan says looking from Ray’s body to Klaus.
“It should have worked.” Klaus picks up another beer and then bites his wrist. He drips his blood into the bottle and offers it to Stefan. “Bottoms up.” Stefan slowly grabs it from Klaus.
“We’re leaving,” Klaus tells us. I walk off still crying as I hear footsteps behind me.
I turn around after a few feet, “You let them die! You killed my family!” I yell at Klaus before punching Klaus in the face, clearly letting me do so.
“I told you. I did everything I was told.” Klaus says quietly.
“Clearly you didn’t do everything,” I start to cry even more. Klaus tries to pull me into some type of grasp but I just start hitting him in the chest and sobbing more.
He lets do so for a while before grabbing both my arms and pushing me into a tree, “Shhh...shhh...shhh… I’ll make it up to you. I promise.” Klaus says into my ear as I try to push him off me.
He pulls my face to look at his, I can see in his eyes that he fully meant it, but I still didn’t want to believe him. We stand there for a few moments as I try to calm myself down. We hear Stefan’s footsteps approach and before he caught up, Klaus finally lets me push him off and I start to walk towards the car.
A/N: Wow! A part on time! So I’ve decided that Monday will be the new update day for CIB. I really enjoyed writing this part and I hope it kinda shows the dynamic between Klaus and Athena. And maybe a bit of Athena’s fight for her feelings between Klaus and protecting her friends. Thanks for reading!

Just sharing some thoughts/opinions  about The Umbrella Academy.
I decided to share some of my thoughts and opinions on TUA S2 and S1,I know some of my opinions  /thoughts are very controversial and not popular but they’re also based on facts and some mistakes the writers have made this season. Here I go (if you don’t like any of opinions/thoughts then please kept for yourself/don’t read my post, I will not tolerate any hostility from anyone) (fair warning this post will be so freaking loooong so good on you if you read it all), it’s also going to be multiple posts as I have a lot to say.
Tumblr media
Let’s will start with:
Lila Pitts:-
Now I was 100% against Lila from the promos because I didn’t want her as a love interest for Diego, because I didn’t want the writers to just ignore/erase deductive  Eudora Patch as was such a big part of his storyline in S1, I didn’t everyone to just forget her. I also  just wanted Diego to have his own storyline that doesn’t involve a woman.
My first imprecision  Throughout of Lila is she’s ok, and I as suspected the new love interest for Diego which honestly got my nerves so much that I couldn’t really give her a fair chance, tagging along with Diego didn’t make sense to me, something was fishy about her from the start, when she left Diego I kind of anticipated it, so it wasn’t surprising to me. We learn then she was taken by the handler (honestly I also guessed right about it being Five who killed Lial’sparents) and trained as an agent, instantaneously I detected the parallel  between her & the Hargreeves kids, those flashbacks not only told us who Lila is really is but also she’s just much of a victim of child abuse (albeit in more twisted manner because the handler showed “false” love is a manner to manipulate her) just like the Hargreeves. That right there made her character more complex .Her interest in Diego made her fall out of line that the handler drilled in her head because she fell for her mark.
There’s definitely room for her character to grow/develop in the future and I’m open to idea there’s a lot to explore maybe she will grow on me,  as long as her character doesn’t take over Diego’s character arc/storyline, I don’t want Diego’s character arc to revolve around a woman he barely knows. I want him to deal with his own issues, his hero complex, to bond more deeply with his siblings. It’s also better if her character didn’t revolve around a guy, if she has her own journey, her own struggles to be able to establish her as an independent character, but I honestly predict she’s goanna be the new villain of S3, just the way her story ended, with the Swede killing her “mother” before she got a confirmation that she never cared about her, I see going in the direction of revenge and holding the academy responsible.
FACT: the timing was way off when Five rewind time backwards (just few seconds)  see with the original timeline, the handler came in killed all the Hargreeves , she  still had few more minutes to talk to Lila, kill her then still walk over to Five say some final words (as he was still alive) then as she was about to shoot him,  the Swede came and killed her, yet when Five rewind time the Swede come much much earlier and she was killed even before she had a chance to finish her conversation with Lila.
Tumblr media
Her Romance with Diego:
I wasn’t a big of this romance for many reasons, one of them being is that they’re goanna I didn’t want Diego to just move on from Eudora so easily, she was such a big part of his life/his character arc in S1.
Since S1, we know Diego suffered a lot because of his “father’s” abusive manipulation bullshit, he was feed up with the manipulation & bullshit lies Reginald put him and his siblings through their whole lives and left the academy to forge his own life away from toxic manipulation, Now one would  argue that he didn’t do such thing because he was still playing vigilante, but the things is Diego didn’t just go straight back to the vigilante life, he went to the police academy where he clearly tried his best to abode by the law, but it was too much red tape for him which is understandable since his whole life he never had to deal with any kind of red tape thus him falling back to the vigilante life. It didn’t really have anything to do with his father
Some of you might have missed this but Diego literally could NOT stand for injustice, NOR he could endure any of  his father’s lies and manipulation it’s one of the MAIN reasons he let the academy , Diego is all about honesty, telling it as it is without any bullshit it’s why at Reginald’s funeral he could NOT endure listening  to some bullshit speech parsing/honoring  the monster who fucked up their childhood
Cut to S2, Lila is Diego’s new “love interest” she’s literary everything he’s against (manipulation, lies, deception) he himself didn’t fully trust her and asked where did she go to after their night, and after what went down at the Mexican consult he lost complete trust in her, days went by and he didn’t even think twice about her (sure he had the occasional thought fluting trough his mind it’s normal) then Five told him that she was planted to deceive him and might have been a bit shocked for few seconds but he believed his brother because it adds up, by the time she tracked him done, he was 100% done with her he even said “forget we ever met” he was done with her, he didn’t want anything to do with her, she then tricked him yet again, didn’t let him even finish to bury Elliot properly which was the only reason he didn’t met up with Five and Luther earlier, drugged him, took him away from his family and just enforced a relationship on him that he clearly  ended, and a job which she was also lied about/left out a huge part of the job description that involved killing innocent people because she knew he would against it and he was threatened to be killed by her if he makes any issue with the job that’s forced n him, Lila would kill him herself, when Diego tells her he needs to get out of here (the commotion) she just ignores him and proceeds to guide him to what she wants/ordering him to do.
Cut to S02E10,first things first she is all in to send every psycho killer of the commotion after the man she claims to “love” so much, she didn’t even try to keep him safe or anything , all she cared about is getting her revenge even if the man she claims to “love” dies, any of the psycho killers could have killed Diego and it was such a close call but she couldn’t care less. she attacks his family and even nearly killing them all, by luck that first energy wave didn’t kill them, then she   deliberately tries to  kill Allison just because she was in her way of killing Five, she could have just made Allison sleep or something but she choose to kill her all so she could kill taking her “revenge” on everyone even though Five was the only who’s responsible for her parents death  (as far as she knew, she didn’t know about the handler yet). When the time was rewind by Five save his family, she just left after Diego offered her a chance at a better life/family she just left everything she has done to him.
Now in S02E4 they show us flashbacks of her childhood and we learn that just like the Hargreeves she too was raised/trained as solider/agent  with the apparent difference she didn’t have a supernatural ability (as far as we knew back then) so I distinguished right through the BULLSHIT the writers were trying to pull, the whole  she was raised like Diego was hence she’s the “perfect match” for him as she will be the “only” who understands him and vice versa  and giving us “sweet cute moment” o them sharing food/coffee and dancing , I didn’t fall it for it for one second , they’re just pushing way too hard that doesn’t appear natural at all, it feels so very very very forced and it’s the writers way/method of trying to make us forget about Eudora completely.
Diego deserves someone better than a person who deceives him for months, who calls him an idiot, who belittles him, who mocks him, who drugs him, someone who doesn’t care about him enough to care about his family as well. if Diego was the woman in that scenario and Lila was the guy, NO one would be ok with it for one second, no one would find it  cute or try excuse/explain it away as her traumatic life deprived her  from normal social skills or some other bullshit .
The  FACT is she’s the woman version of Leonard in S1, none liked him or sympathize with him or try to understand him, she just used Diego for her own mission then used him again as her boy toy because she liked playing with him, she is  NOT any better than Leonard , sure as hell NOT good enough for Diego, she did to him exactly what Leonard did to Vanya in first season stalked him, lied and manipulated him (even worse because it was for months) belittle him, isolated him from his family so she can manipulate him even more just like Leonard did with Vanya, tried to push him with the job just like Lenard tried to push Vanya with her powers.
Diego deserves so much better than her, he deserves some who’s good and decent like Eudora FREAKING Patch, someone like Ray/Luther or Dave or Sissy why is it that Allison, Vanya and Klaus get to have a good healthy relationship with a decent human being ( even if didn’t work out in the end) and Diego ends up with a psychopathic psycho who lies & manipulates him who always choose her own priority over him (choosing to save Five instead of him and even after she accomplished her mission and had plenty of time to help Diego out she still elected NOT help Diego) , hasn’t he like his siblings suffered enough at the hand of selfish asshole who only cares about themselves.
It also make ZERO ZERO ZERO sense that Diego went from semi liking Lila to doubting her completely to NOT trusting at all to out of NOWHERE  be “in love” with her. The story does NOT track NOR does act in accordance with his  personality.
Not goanna lie, after the season ended I was a bit conflicted and I thought I’m might be ok with this so called “relationship”  because I just so desperately wanted someone to love & appreciate my Diego that I actually was semi ok with it I still hated a lot of aspects about the whole thing and never felt comfortable under my skin never the less I was like 1% welling to give it a break, however  the more I re-watched, the more I thought about it the more I knew why I was never ok with it, why it felt much wrong than right for me. It’s because there’s too much toxicity, too much damage, too much bad bullshit  in this “ship”  than good and my man deserves SO SO SO MUCH BETTER than her.
Tumblr media
Eudora Patch:-
she was one of my favorite characters in S1, I liked her principles, I liked her chemistry with Diego. So I wasn’t excited about Lila at all since I knew the second she’s on screen with Diego everyone would forget Patch and focus on Lila (and that’s exactly what happened.) their methods might have been different(Diego’s illegal, Eudora legal methods)  but they both believed in justice, in getting the bad guy, protecting/saving the innocent,  she & Diego had such an AMAZING GENUINE NATURAL chemistry, and she meant SO MUCH to him, because she’s exactly the right person for Diego, the person who doesn’t underestimate him  or belittle him, a person who cares about him so much and knows him so well that she knows how much his mother meant (she might have even known about Diego’s stutter ) and she knows how much Diego cares about his family that’s why she tracked Hazel & Cha-Cha down to save his brother. That’s the kind of person Diego deserves.  I’m truly so FUCKING MAD at the writers for completely erasing her from the show, erasing her from Diego’s history just so to make us pay into the Lila & Diego’s BULLSHIT “romance”

After I had watched season 1 back in 2019, I made a post talking about what I thought of each of the siblings and how much I liked them, so I figured that I should do this again now that I watched season 2 because man things have changed quite a bit.
Luther: Big yes. His development this season was so good. I never quite hated Luther as much as everyone else did, for most of season 1 I actually thought he was just fine, until the whole thing with Vanya happened of course. Now though? He got that redemption and it worked. I liked the fact that, upon meeting Vanya again, he immediately apologizes to her and even realizes that what he did was wrong. I thought it felt genuine. He admits this again later around Diego, too. I had believed that Luther could be redeemed and heck he was. He's not a favorite but I do like him now and him interacting with the others (specifically Diego and Five) was hilarious. So good on him! And I'm glad the fandom seems to be accepting him more now too. He definitely had to redeem himself most out of all of them and I'm happy that it was succesful.
Diego: Well what do you expect me to say, this account is literally mainly Diego themed. He's been my BOY since season 1 and nothing has changed about that. I did feel like he was done a bit dirty in season 2 because him having a boner for both JFK and Lila was overshadowing a lot of his further development but that's more on the writing than on him. I also feel like they dumbed him down a little for whatever reason? Like, sure, he's not meant to be some genius like Five, but he sure used more braincells in season 1- He did have some really awesome moments again though. which I listed in a previous post, and his development from "I'm a lone wolf and I need to do everything on my own because I can't trust anyone" to "I'm starting to accept that it's ok to rely on others and that I don't have to go through shit all alone and I'm even admitting that I love my family in front of them" was beautiful. I won't get into that much detail here because I talk about him a lot anyways and will continue to do so, so I'll leave it at this. I could go on about him for hours though. Obvious favorite.
Allison: Y E S!!!! Just. Yes. Imma be honest, I didn't like her that much in season 1 all things considered, she had some great moments there but overall I was iffy about her and also her ability and the way she would use it. Cue season 2 and everything changes. The fact that she stopped using her power because she wanted to accomplish things on her own and only used it when absolutely needed was a huge improvement and I loved that part of her development so much. And the way that they made a good part of her plotline revolve around activism for equal rights was! Absolutely! Amazing! It was handled so well and her being that strong, independent woman fighting for her rights as a person of color really made me adore her. It didn't have much to do with the main plot of the show but this side plot might have been my favorite this season. Also her relationship with Ray was honestly so goddamn precious, it got me into my feelings a lot. They deserved the world. So yeah! Once again, I think her development worked out super well and I love her a lot. Also...not really an important thing but my GOD her style this season! From the hair to the outfits...gorgeous. Even greater than in s1. I'm gay yes that's all
Klaus: Honestly, not that much has changed since season 1. Admittedly, he didn't go through that much development (frankly, he didn't need to as much as certain others) and yes a good chunk of his screentime was comedy relief, but he's just so loveable. After s1 he was my third favorite and I think that's still the case. Also, the thing with him and Dave HURT like damn haven't we and Klaus suffered enough already in season 1? I get it, none of the siblings get to have successful and lasting relationships, it's almost a joke by now, but that doesn't mean Klaus needs to suffer even more. But also good on him for managing to be slightly less intoxicated overall!! So uh yeah. My opinion on him hasn't exactly changed so that's all I got but I love him!!! Who doesn't, though, let's be real.
Five: Sort of the same thing as with Klaus. Five is still pretty much the same little, sarcastic shit of a genius and I like him a lot, much like after season 1. Though I was maybe slightly disappointed with his development (or lack thereof) in s2. Last year I talked a bit about how I wanted him to grow as a person and learn that it's ok to feel things, now that he wasn't alone anymore. I wanted him to start accepting that he doesn't need to do everything alone anymore and that it's ok to rely on his family, much like Diego in his development. We didn't get all that much of it in s2 but I suppose it's also nothing that should be rushed, not with a character like him. I did however see improvement in the way that he was more open admitting that these people are his family and that he would do anything in order to save them. Despite calling them all kinds of insults and not always being particularly nice because that's just the way he is, it definitely became more apparent that he cares about them and I like that. A scene I found particularly interesting was Five saying that "he was done with the killing" to the Handler after the board massacre. He only did this for his family. To save them. Cold-hearted assassin Five doesn't want to kill anymore. It really does emphasize that he is human after all and that he does have feelings no matter how hard he pretends he doesn't. Furthermore, the scenes where he was around his other self showing that even he wasn't always super composed and everything. Let Five learn to be human again!!!
Ben: ...do I really have to do this? I think I'll cry talking about him. Oh well. After I had watched season 1 twice, I came to the conclusion that he was my 2nd favorite. This is still and perhaps even more so the case now. I always adored the way he's so incredibly kind and caring. And I like the way that in s2 they put more emphasis on how frustrating it often was for him to be stuck like this not being able to do anything and seeing the only person he can interact with throw his life away like that. When the siblings had all reunited again and Ben said to himself "I missed you all...so much." That shit made me weep. He cares about his siblings so much :( His little crush on Jill was so cute too, like, aww. And!!!! Klaus eventually allowing him to possess his body for a while. The way he took in every smell and every feeling for the first time after so long...I loved that. It's what he deserved. As well as the scene he had with Jill AND ALSO THANK YOU DIEGO FOR HUGGING "BEN" THAT WAS SO PRECIOUS AND AHH!!! So uh yeah. I LOVED all about that part so much. And then...oh. my. God. The first and I think only scene in season 2 that genuinely made me bawl my eyes out. Like for real. Not even kidding. BEN LITERALLY SAVED THE GODDAMN WORLD!!!!!!!! HE DID IT AND HE DID IT ALL BY HIMSELF. HIM! HE! BEN HARGREEVES! The way he comforted Vanya and told her that she wasn't a monster at all was just so beautiful and, for one last time, once again emphasized just how caring and kind he is. When he asked for a hug...that's when I just could not anymore. I'm tearing up thinking about it. He deserved that hug so, so much. I'm glad he was no longer afraid of the light and ready to pass on, literally saving the world in the process. I'm so endlessly proud of him, you don't even know. If anyone owned this season, it was him. Just like that.
Vanya: my opinion on her has somehow changed a lot yet not at all at the same time. How that works? I don't even know. I was feeling mostly neutral about her after season 1 and I still do? First things first- Memory loss is an absolutely turn-off for me most of the time. I'm not sure why but it's just a trope that annoys me to no end. In this case I didn't find it annoying at all though? Sure, it was kind of a cheap way to avoid Vanya having to deal with the aftermath of what happened in s1 while being stranded in Dallas alone a few decades into the past, but I thought it worked pretty well. The road to her regaining her memory was interesting too. Overall she's just not really my type of character? She just doesn't catch my attention that easily but I thought she was written REALLY well this season and I liked her development. Specifically her learning to come to terms with who she really is and also learning to control her ability and use it to protect the people she cares about. Also.. the wlw serve....god thank you so much YES. Ahem. Yah. Overall not a favorite but I like her too!!
And that's what I think was really good about season 2. It made me genuinely like all of them. I left season 1 not really thinking all that highly of ike 3 of them but now I do find all of them really likeable! And that's great, honestly. So yeah! That's it. Maybe I'll talk about the other s2 relevant characters at some point, who knows!

Umbrella Academy
season 2, episode 8
Once again- live blogging my thoughts and reactions in one post to avoid spamming.
So this is how the FBI gets their hands on Vanya, huh? Seems most fan theories were wrong.
Oh, Sissy's last name is Cooper!
I did wonder about that -how did remember her name despite forgetting everything else? If she knew her name then she should have been able to remember other little fragments.
Of course the feds focus on the fact that her name is Russian. Cold war bullshit. I guess they think she's a spy or since Russian sleeper soldier or something.
"I'm not Russian" -you kinda are though 😅 Tatiana was Russian and gave birth to you in Moscow sooo...
DID VANYA JUST SPEAK RUSSIAN?!
Is that one of the 7 languages that Reggie all the siblings or....? Does it... Does it have something to do with her powers or her birth place?
"simple-minded boy"? FUCK YOU.😠
"communist threat" there it is 🙄
Oh no, she's losing her cool. Here come the powers... I keep wondering how she does that 'sucking the life' out of someone thing. 🤔
That's a lot of puke.
Poor Five, he's starting to crack under the stress.
Why is Ben gagging? He's dead, he shouldn't be able to feel or smell the puke.
Loving Robert's real curls starting to show.
"I regret nothing" -hmm.... Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.
"there's a giant dead white boy on my couch" 😆
"Oh, I see. It's gonna be one of those kind of nights, huh? So are we burning or burying?" -this is why I love Klaus! He doesn't even flinch, he doesn't care what happened, he doesn't ask, he just immediately decides that he's going to help his sister get rid of a dead body like it's the most natural thing in the world.
Although, it would be interesting if Klaus actual saw the Swede ghosts too. I just want Klaus to be seeing ghosts everywhere again, ok? I want that struggle from season 1 to be brought back and not swept under the rug for plot convenience. As a writer, if you make something an important character trait, you stick with it and they haven't done that with Klaus, they are half-assing his struggle with his powers.
It's the Swede really going to...? Oh good, saved by the cat.
Oh! So that's what "lavender" means! I was right, it was the perfume, it was probably obvious but I'm a little dumb.
Ah! Lila is trying to hire Diego for the Commission???
Diego is so confused.
"colorful history" sounds so wrong and sexual 😣
Diego is so full of bullshit. His loyalties absolutely lie with his family, he's just too defensive to admit it.
Reginald FRAMED Pogo's family drawing? So he's a better dad to the chimp than his own kids, huh?
THE TELEVATOR!!!!!!! PLANS FOR THE TELEVATOR!!!! I love comic references, please tell me we'll see a real televator in the show!
So Reggie really is planning something about JFK...
"are you involved in something nefarious?" "Quite often. Did you have something more specific in mind?" -at least he owns it 😆
"shaggy man" -ah! Poor Diego!
Reggie really loves this Grace, huh? But she has a point.
Five is losing it a bit, huh?
The baby powder 🤣
"I have to find myself" -RIGHT! I was wondering when this would come up! Old!Five was there for the JFK thing so Five just has to find his old self and his briefcase in order to correct all this mess. More comic references!
"arguably the most dangerous assassin in the time-space continuum" -DAMN RIGHT 💯
"paradox psychosis" 🤣I know it's supposed to be super serious but the symptoms are so funny...
Tumblr media
"a spotter? What is that? Like a wingman?" 😆 This parallels that "Body man? What's that? Like a masseuse?" line in s02e02 where Five is the confused one.
Five, do you really think your brother can stop you if you spiral? Because I don't.
Luther doesn't have a great attention span, does he?
Harlan's drawing is interesting... I get a feeling it's important.
Shit, they are torturing Vanya!! This is so bad!
LSD? LSD?????? No, that's a terrible idea with her powers!!!
Eeeewwwww the eyeballs! 👁️
That's a hell of a bad trip... The way the music makes with the visuals reminds me of my synesthesia though.
Oh! So this is where the scene of all the adult siblings in the Academy uniforms is from!!! (I remember someone saying it was Diego dreaming of having a drugged hallucination in the asylum, they were pretty close! It's Vanya drugged by the FBI instead!)
"I get you" -that is not the face of a person that gets this at all, Luther!
"Don't freak out." -like that ever worked 😆
Lila trying to have her cake and eat it too with her mom and Diego.
That informational video 🤣🤣🤣
Free coffee! Weekly donuts* (*fees apply)! Wow, so tempting 😒
"whatever your skill, education, or comfort level with moral ambiguity (...)" 😆
Are the Fives just having a staring contest? 🤣🤣
Ah! How can Five be bitchy and aggressive to HIMSELF 😆
"all those years on the apocalypse, we never stopped working about our family." -why does Luther look so damn surprised to hear this?? Why the hell does he think Five is doing so this for?!
Wow, Five is really bitter about his body, isn't he? He's making old!Five so nervous 😅
Oops, there's stage 4 for old!Five!
And there's stage 3 as well and stages 5 and 6 for little!Five.
I get a feeling Five doesn't really have the accurate calculations, he's just lying and using the originals.
"I don't trust him!" -he's... He's you...14 days ago! How do you not trust yourself?
"but he's you" "exactly" 🤣🤣🤣
I'm so afraid how what Diego is going to do. I get a feeling hell fuck up trying to be a misguided hero again...
"I'm Diego. I have a knife." 😆
"it's very shiny" 🤣
So Diego is a legend, huh? 😏
"there's been a coup d'etat" "what's that? Cadillac?" -don't play dumb, Diego, I don't believe for a single second that you don't know what a coup is.
So the new apocalypse WAS Vanya's fault but by proxy (actually more the FBI's fault), she was just a small domino. So literally the only one that didn't actively do anything to impact the timeline ends up being the one doing the most damage (again)? PLOT TWIST!
Oh no, DON'T GET ANY IDEAS ABOUT YOUR SISTER, DIEGO! YOU SAW HOW BADLY THAT ENDED LAST TIME!
No, I refuse to believe "she will always be the bomb" 😠😠😠😠
LOL, hi, Dot!
NO! LUTHER, YOU MORON! DON'T GIVE HIM ALL THAT INFO! YOU'LL CHANGE EVERYTHING AND CEASE TO EXIST!!!
These dumb siblings exhaust me
Tumblr media
"little jerk-off" -why are you insulting yourself, you weirdo? 😆
Old!Five with all the PP symptoms and yet he says he never felt better in his life 🤣
"you're getting paranoid" -you both are, and sweaty, itchy and gassy. All that's missing is the homicidal rage at this point 😅
Vanya's hallucination shows us a twisted paranoid view she has of her siblings and it's very interesting:
-Ben is protective, defends her, he can do no harm, probably because he died young so nostalgia blurs her memory of him
-Allison defends her but is also arrogant and condescending, speaking as if she's implying that Vanya is weak, probably because Vanya feels that Allison is perfect and has an inferiority complex
-Luther is just as arrogant and looks down her, calling her lazy, but does so without malice (more mockery than anger)
-Klaus is accusing and suspicious but still on the fence and excitable, probably reflecting Vanya's own doubts and how she herself sees Klaus
-Five just stares, judging and silent but unable to look away, probably because she trusts him but she also doesn't know him, there's the same nostalgia effect as Ben but because Five came back (to stop her) the inferiority and fear of judgement is still there
-Diego is completely different, awkward and detached, this one is the most interesting because he's one of the people that was most vocal and mean against her in season 1 but apparently she sees a kindred spirit in him to an extent, either that or she fears she means nothing to him
Maybe I'm overanalyzing again...
I totally predicted the dishes would be brains but it's still gross.
Ew, the chewing... 😫 It's giving me the creeps.
Why is she seeing Harlan's drawing? She was gone already when he made that particular drawing (I knew it would be important), is she connected to him now??
And how does she remember her own birth??
Holy shit, Harlan is feeling Vanya's pain!!!😲😲😲
"why are people so much heavier when they're dead?" "You got a lot of practice at this?" 😅
Ben and Klaus conversation actually makes me feel a bit better about the possession but it makes no sense at all 🤣
Poor Ray keeps meeting in-laws in the weirdest situations 🤣🤣🤣🤣 his face! 🤝
Ray is having a nervous breakdown 😣 poor guy...
The moment Lila notices Diego is missing, the intercom chimes "Loyalty isn't a choice, it's a lifestyle" and if that isn't foreshadowing for Lila choosing sides then I don't know what is.
This is a really painful way for Vanya to recover her memories but it's so well done!
Holy shit... 😳
Klaus asking the real question here. She's being tortured, Klaus, go help!!!
HOLY SHIT! HARLAN HAS VANYA'S POWERS NOW?!
No, no, no,no, no, no nononononono! This is so bad! A child with a disorder that makes emotions hard to regulate suddenly having an apocalyptic level of power that connects directly to emotion is just a recipe for disaster!

this is like barely an au but “hey can I draw you?” au with klaus/geo... like cmon
ohoho, you got it ;)
****
By now, it was of course understood that wherever Klauswent, he’d take a sketchbook with him, as George was quickly learning thatthe urge to draw something was never far from his fingertips. If he didn’t haveone on him, he’d have to find a notepad or even a napkin to use in a pinch. Thismost often happened in cafes or bistros, when hauling a huge sheet of paper outwasn’t necessarily practical, but something nearby caught his eye—and he’d havea pen or a pencil out in the next moment, doodling away whatever scene happenedto be nearby…boats on the river, kids feeding the birds, or even just leaves onthe trees dancing in the breeze.
“Does it ever stop? The urge to just…draw everything?”George had joked once, looking up only to see that Klaus was busy drawingagain. He’d peered back up at him almost like coming from a bit of a trance, but not so much that he didn’t give a grin.
“No, not really. It’s a beautiful world out there. I don’twant to miss any of it.”
George had never really known another person quite like him—butthen, he spent much of his time hanging out with people like John and Ringo, onwhom many things like this were very often lost. It wasn’t that he didn’t thinkthey couldn’t see it all, but there was no chance of one of them commenting ona cusp of trees in the park, or in talking about the blue of the water. It wasdifferent for him too, to look at the world through the eyes of an artist. Somethingnew.
The flower shop, as it turned out, wasn’t too far away fromthe gallery that Klaus managed. As such, it meant that just as George wasbeginning to open the store up for the day, he’d often find Klaus popping in tosay hello for a few minutes before he headed to work himself. Or, on theother hand, if Klaus was staying late at the gallery one evening and George hadclosed the shop down, he’d swing by instead with a coffee for the both of them.
It wasn’t exactly routine—it didn’t happen all the time, there was no rhyme or reason to it. And yet George found himself lookingtowards the shop door each morning, or down the street if he was outsideassembling the pots and baskets out there, heart seeming to miss a strange beator two—or all but jumping away if Klaus did show up that day.
“That Klaus bloke has been around here an awful lot, hasn’the?” John asked him once when he was by the shop himself, and George had nearlyspilled liquid from the watering can he was filling up at the sink.
“Er…I guess. He works nearby. And he’s not so bad, really.”
“Well, I’ll take your word for it. Bit of an odd couplethough, eh?”
George had held his tongue at that—sometimes, it just wasn’tworth engaging with John. Besides, he really couldn’t quite articulate properlyjust how much the new friendship meant to him, or how secretly wary he was oflosing it. He wasn’t clueless enough to be unaware of the fact that he washardly the same kind of person Klaus would typically rub elbows with, thecultured, sophisticated artsy types who could talk for hours about brushstrokes and color palettes. Or wine.
So for now, he let it be. For now, he didn’t want to thinkof things ending.
Sometimes on weekends, they’d spend a few hours at the parkon a blanket, George typically dozing off under the sun or flipping through a bookwhile Klaus sat curled up next to him, the sketchbook open and out in his lap.  He’d dare to peek an eye open sometimes towatch Klaus over the paper, a curl of dark hair falling into his face, bitingdown on his lip and glancing up time and time again to look at what he wasdrawing. It was fascinating in its own right, sitting there and getting towatch him create.
So perhaps it shouldn’t have totally surprised him duringone such time, when he was stretched out on his back with his arms foldedbehind his head, that Klaus paused for a long while, pencil still held looselyin a smudged hand, then turned to look over at him and ask him a question.
“George…may I ask you something?”
“You already have,” George pointed out simply, feeling toolazy and sun-warmed to even open his eyes.
“That’s true,” Klaus admitted, paused—but then pressed on. “George,I was wondering if I can draw you.”
That had hisattention—George propped himself up on one elbow, now fixing Klaus with a look.“Why would you want to do that?”
He seemed almost surprised by the question. “Why wouldn’t I?”
Well, that was easy enough. “You already have, haven’t you?I’ve seen the little sketches—”
“I don’t mean one of those. I mean…properly. All you have todo is stay where you are.”
It wasn’t like it’d be particularly strenuous on his part. And yet, ridiculously, he felt almost anxious or a tiny bit unnerved. Hismoment of silence seemed to speak volumes anyway, Klaus shook his head andbegan to say something, but George cut him off.
“Sure, I don’t mind. Go easy on me a little bit, though. Itdoesn’t have to be exactly true tolife.”
“Oh, stop,” Klaus scolded lightly, but seemed notablycheered by the permission. When George settled back down, he reached out tolightly take his chin and adjust his head a little. “There. Stay right there.”
His fingers were warm. George keenly felt it when theyparted contact with him.
But what hadn’t were the eyes. Even letting his own shutagain, he was keenly aware of the intent gaze on him, the just-barely audiblesound of the pencil scratching on paper over the sound of the breeze and theother park activities nearby. There was something about it that was terriblyintimate in a way he wouldn’t be able to explain, if he had been making eyecontact with him, George rather felt like it would have been hard to catch hisbreath. At least looking away allowed him that much, kept that in check.
George may have nodded off, he wasn’t quite sure—or exactlyjust how much time had passed. When Klaus finally cleared his throat andshifted around, stretching his legs out again, he knew it had to be over. Oneeye peeked open again.
“How bad is it?”
“It’s not bad at all,” Klaus responded, and something in hisvoice sounded strangely hoarse. “But maybe I could do better. You’re a hardperson to capture.”
Never shy about showing his work, he almost hesitated now,but still was willing to let George sit up and take a look. What he saw therewasn’t really surprising—because it simply looked like him. He knew already ofKlaus’ talent, knew how skilled he was, so it didn’t take him wholly aback…butwhat did a bit was seeing himself like that, and evidently looking very happyand content judging by the look on his face.
“Shit. I mean…wow, I mean—” Face suddenly a little warm,George very nearly dropped the sketchbook as he tried to hand it back to Klaus.“You’re really good, y’know. Honestly. I couldn’t…I could never do anythinglike that.”
“To each our own talents, I suppose,” Klaus said with asmall smile. “But thank you, George. Drawing people is a…fascinating thing.”
And George was hardly a fascinating person—but hadn’t hefelt like it, just for a little while under the rays of an autumn sun? Therewas hardly any putting his finger on just what else he’d felt there, but hecouldn’t be sure if he’d let Klaus do it again any time soon. Not when he didn’ttrust how much his pulse had spiked, how his breath seemed to have beentemporarily lost.
