tell us about the royals au!!! (im on my knees. please.)

Ohhhhh my friend you have started me on a RANT I hope you��re ready!!!

I don’t know that I’ll ever actually write it so I’m not too worried about spoilers, and the wonderful people in my dms (which are still open btw) bouncing ideas with me are always going to come up with great ideas so I’m putting WIP in big red letters, things are subject to change! But for now, some ideas. Most of what I have will be under the cut, but if you want to know more about a specific part/have any questions please I’d love to chat :D will link to the art/posts I have so far!

(In this au I’ve been referring to Neil as Nathaniel at first and then Abram (hello names as a plot device), and everyone else right now is some version of their name)

Kevin and Nathaniel were raised at Evermore castle, Kevin to be in direct competition to Riko/see which of them might claim the throne (not thought out yet), and Nathaniel as the Moriyama’s attack dog, born and raised to take his father’s place as such. The two never met in person, but Nathaniel knows and recognizes Day because of course he does, and Day knows the name Wesninski means a very, very dangerous person. Essentially the top assassin on the continent.

But as we do, Day decides he can’t/won’t handle the treatment anymore, whatever the last straw may be, and runs off to Palmetto in a kind of desperate chase of the stories his mother used to tell him when he was little. He knew she loved that kingdom. Somehow he finds Wymack - the twin’s royal advisor - or Wymack finds him, and once Wymack realizes who this kid is and has reason to believe he’s not here on Evermore business, he puts Day’s incredible talent and training as a tactician/commander to work as his pupil.

Meanwhile Nathaniel is still at Evermore, mistreated and learning from his own failures and mistakes until he’s nearly as good as his father at the family business.

I don’t know how long Nathaniel plans it, but he either plays the part for long enough or his skill is so undeniable that when the Moriyamas have plans for the Palmetto Kingdom, they send him and one other accomplished fighter to kill the king. Nathaniel goes quietly and decides he’s not coming back if he can help it.

So instead of killing the young king, Nathaniel’s panic has him turn on his partner at the very last second, stopping them just before they can get to the king. He takes them somewhere far away and does what he does best, leaving no one to report back to the Moriyamas. From then on it’s a waiting game to see how long the family will wait before they send someone after him.

Day’s followed them, and Nathaniel turns around from the body and sees this man he hasn’t seen in years, alive and safe away from Evermore. It’s as elating as it is crushing - because Day heard his partner call him by name, and there is no way Day will ever let a Wesninski walk away alive. Not if he knows what’s good for all of them.

Except Day doesn’t kill him, even when Nathaniel asks him to. (Better Day than Riko, Nathaniel knew that even when they were all stuck at Evermore). Instead, he takes Nathaniel back to the twins/Wymack, gives him a little bread, and they sit until he can pry out an explanation. (See the comic of this first meeting here.)

Day and Nathaniel spend most of their time together because Day refuses to let Nathaniel out of his or Wymack’s sight until he proves not a threat to the royal family, which proves an issue because between Andrew’s rotation of personal guards (he never gets along with them well enough that they stay/aren’t fired) Day is Andrew’s guard, which sometimes means Nathaniel is stuck a lot closer than Day would like. But after a long, long time, Day and Wymack decide Nathaniel was serious about the whole “runaway” thing and isn’t playing spy (maybe there’s some dramatic event/Nathaniel protecting a twin that convinces them or maybe it’s just a lot of little things over time). Andrew, after a rough spat with the latest guard, is again in need of a new one. Finally Day just asks “is there ANYONE you could possibly pretend to get along with that can do the job” and Andrew knows Nathaniel is dangerous he just doesn’t know exactly how or why (but oh he is curious) so maybe he just straight up says. “Wesninski.” And Day has to go “…. Fine.”

So boom. They knew each other superficially before, but now Andrew and Nathaniel are spending most of their time together and miraculously - no arguments. No spats. Day thanks the gods there’s no physical altercations (that’s probably what got the last guard fired so quick). Nathaniel is just a mystery with shady ability to tell the truth and Andrew can’t help his curiosity. Good old fashioned andreil :D

From here the timeline becomes essentially nonexistent, I have no idea when these things happen in relation to each other but so far they’re all things I like and want to include!

1) there’s plenty of games and competitions at Palmetto, we love a good tussle, and Nathaniel usually does quite well - he’s not good at playing fair, but his underhanded methods are not technically illegal and usually he can use his preferred weapon - dagger rather than sword. He does well except for the one time an opponent accidentally says/does something that was constantly said or done to Nathaniel while “training” at Evermore, and he comes back to Andrew and the tent he watched from in the beginning of a panic attack. Andrew doesn’t know anything about Nathaniel’s past at this point, but he knows a panic attack when he sees one. In trying to talk him through it, Andrew realizes that yes Nathaniel is scared of being hurt, but he’s more afraid of hurting others. Nathaniel won’t let Andrew call him by name, he flinches every time Andrew says it. After, Andrew asks what he should call him instead, and Nathaniel finally asks to be called Abram.

2) Balls! Masquerades! Abram doesn’t have many outfits, he wears the regular issued uniform to every event. Andrew will not stand for this. Abram always wears clothes that cover him fully, which is fine, Andrew can work with that. He’s still seen Abram in a tight shirt or two. So he commissions one of the most knowledgeable people in the court (we’re thinking it might be Allison, she’s a noble but she’s great with textiles/embroidery/etc) and gets Abram a new outfit. It still covers him, its still protective material, but it looks better. (Find Abram in a corset here). Andrew handles it totally normal and rational in his head when he sees Abram actually wearing it of course.

3) Day probably assumes for a little while that Andrew and Abram have got a more or less normal guard/charge relationship, even thinking it’s slightly antagonistic considering this is Andrew we’re talking about. (This doesn’t fit the timeline, but here’s a mini comic of one of Day’s misunderstandings hehe)

4) king Aaron! He became king at 18/20/whatever age we decide this universe deems old enough because he is in fact the elder twin here. I imagine their parents have both been dead and gone for at least a few years at this point. Dan is Aaron’s guard and she and Abram hit it off great as coworkers and friends. More on the uncertainty of the twins backstory later. (Drawings of Aaron and his queen Katelyn here!)

5) the angst. The Moriyamas should have heard from the Wesninski boy months ago - something somewhere went wrong. So, naturally, they go to collect their property. If they get away with it, we can imagine how it goes. What I don’t know is if the twins, Day, and Wymack know for sure he was kidnapped or if they have a little nagging in the back of their head that wonders if he’s only run away from the castle or if he’s run back to Evermore with everything he’s learned.

When he’s recovered, Day doesn’t let Andrew too close too often for a while. If Abram forgets where is for even a second too long - waking up from a nightmare, having a flashback - it’s long enough for it to be fatal to whoever might get too close to Abram. It’s already almost proved fatal for Andrew, after Abram played normal so well that Andrew let it slip - he forgot Abram was taken back to Evermore for them to finish making him into a thoughtless weapon, and they’d nearly succeed. He wakes Abram too quickly and ends up extremely lucky Abram recognizes both his voice and the way Andrew didn’t call him ‘Nathaniel’ or ‘Wesninski’. There’s really a huge amount to possibly be covered about this point so I won’t go into detail here - but if you like hurt/comfort you know where to find me 👀

6) the biggest thing we haven’t figured out is Andrew. Either he was kidnapped at a young age and only recovered in his teens, or the elder King Minyard didn’t much care for his second son. Though I’ve always liked the idea of Mr. Minyard being a good man who died shortly before the twins’ birth and their mother just couldn’t handle the grief or knowing that the twins look like him. Anyway a lot of the twins’ issues after both of their parents are dead are the advisors or other people around them that try to take advantage of their youth and inexperience for their own gain, without realizing that both Aaron and Andrew have had to grow up much too fast, each for their own reasons. They can usually see right past the tricks. It’s why they both trust Wymack so much - he’s one of the few adults that are truly there to help them, and not make decisions for them.

Im sure there’s more I missed, but this is long enough as it is lol. People have asked about the Trojans/Jean in this au, and I’d love to include them! My brain’s instinctive response is that Jeremy is some sort of high end noble/royal of a faraway kingdom, and Jean (always last to leave the nest, im so sorry baby) somehow gets over there, but I don’t have an idea of his or anyone else’s roles yet. Renee could even still have a hand in him getting there if we really want.

How kind of you, to remind me of my manners.” A moment between The Manager and The Author, for one must make up for any rude transgressions upon ones space.

“You know,” Jamie says leaning against the archway in the hall with the quirk of a brow,“it is quite rude to intrude upon someone's home, no matter how many times you take it upon yourself to see yourself in.”

It was late too, Mary-Anne having already retired for the night, or no doubt she would have thrown a fit to see him in the home with no prior calling once more. For the best really, Jamie sheepishly knows they put the woman through enough stress already. 

Jamie had been settled in the sitting room for a late night cup of tea, reading into the latest novel they'd gotten their hands on, when they heard the oh so familiar tap of a silver capped cane, vision fuzzy on the edge of their peripheral. The clearest sign of any for an unexpected visitor, though not, of course, an unwanted one. 

Getting up to investigate, they found him standing in the entry hall, seemingly fascinated by the new painting Jamie had gotten hung upon the wall - an impressionist piece they'd purchased from an up and coming artist, always finding themself inclined to support the arts that were pushed back against. 

The Manager turns to look at them as soon as they make their statement, his ever present smile seeming slightly more genuine when his gaze meets theirs. 

“Is that so? Is this an intrusion?” He moves forward, closer into their space, a gloved hand coming up to cup their cheek and tilt their gaze further up towards him. “And here I was, under the impression that my presence was invited. How kind of you, to remind me of my manners.”

Jamie's not entirely sure why he's here tonight, as they glance up to meet his gaze. They're not in any particular state this evening, no more out of it then their baseline is these days. They shan't presume he's come just because he wanted to see them but- well, certainly he must get lonely too. A single performer can be grand, but it's only with a company that a show can truly be performed.

Jamie steps back slightly, moving out of his hold, before turning to dive under his arm in a quick movement. They move backwards toward the stairwell, turning to face him as they speak, the inkling of an idea forming in their mind.  

“Yes, it is!” Jamie can't keep down the amused smile at their play. “In fact, I think I'm rather quite insulted. It's very presumptuous of you - and a disgrace upon my honour!” They take a couple steps up onto the stairwell, before leaning on the banister to stare down at him.

Even now, it doesn't make them that far above him. They smirk down at him regardless, basking in the brief moment of being taller (or at least, being higher up). 

The Manager simply looks amused at their antics, seemingly in the mood to play along with their games. It was always fun for Jamie when he was - though, they never really did begrudge when he had other plans in mind.

“I see I have made a great error in my judgment. “ His words are laden with humour. Both of them know that Jamie cares very little about his habit of showing up unexpectedly. (Both of them know there's very little they could do about it anyways.). “Perhaps, then, there is something I must do? To account for my transgression?”

 Jamie's eyes flick down to his lips, smirk spreading out on their own face. “Oh, I don't know. Perhaps there is something, if it is to be on offer.” They lean forward towards him, leaving it to him to close the rest of the gap. 

A hand reaches up to lightly hold at the hair on the back of their head, before The Manager leans up, his lips at last meeting theirs. The scrape of his beard against their chin is familiar to them by now, but Jamie's pulse flutters all the same at the contact, eyes closing as they lean into the kiss. 

Jamie moves their hands to hold the base of the back of his head, trying to pull him closer as possible, aiming to avoid knocking his hat off just yet. They are oftly unused to this angle - it is rare that they're on the taller end of kisses, and most certainly not with him. Most events require some form of bending on his part - or other, different ways to put them on a more equal level. At least he's able to pick them up, not everyone has such capabilities.  

They're still smiling as they pull back from the kiss, breath quickened just a bit as they open their eyes to look down at him. 

The Manager smirks up at them, evidently feeling as if he'd won the interaction, but even he was still leaning forward himself, closer into their space. 

“And has that laid everything on account for? Or must I continue to abate my actions?”

“Hm, let me think on it.” Jamie says, a mischievous twinkle rising to their eyes.“What else might you have on offer?” 

They'd like to know their options first, before they decide.

Tell us about the fires of agni 👀

[From this post of my current WIPs, if anyone is curious ;)]

Ah yes, (one of) my Lu Ten lives AU which finally has a name!

The basic premise is that Lu Ten gets really, terribly injured at the siege of Ba Sing Se and ends up being returned to the Capital to recover; meanwhile, Firelord Azulon refuses to let Iroh return as well and so Iroh deserts with the intention of returning anyway and absconding with his son but ends up having a journey of self-discovery where he realises that the Fire Nation is shit, actually, and he has a new goal of Reformation TM.

In the capital, Lu Ten is recovering and also watching Shit Go Down TM as Ozai is a piece of shit. Too injured, he can't do much while everything happens very similarly to canon. Ozai says that Iroh is a traitor for leaving (which Azulon may grudgingly agree with) and that his line should take the throne; but then Azulon is like...Lu Ten is still alive and I like him more than you, to prove that you are actually still loyal, I want you to kill your daughter (and remove a potential threat).

Azula overhears - so does Ursa - and then things Go Down, as Ursa leaves the Capital after protecting her children in the best way she can.

Now Lu Ten is the only reasonably responsible adult in the area and he's like...twenty two, he should not be put in charge of children.

He gets on better with Zuko, but he is probably closer with Azula; he sees a lot of himself in her, especially the pressure that she obviously feels that she is under (although the pressure on him as a child was a little less intentional). He also has Complicated Feelings TM over his own father.

He has a fiancée drifting about, and there will definitely be a few more OCs of varying importances, but the end result of the palace is that when Zuko is banished, Lu Ten goes with him at Ozai's request, and Azula sneaks aboard too - for character reasons I have yet to properly establish, but the point of this fic is that the three potential heirs to the throne are on a ship, in the middle of the ocean, and they are varying degrees of angry at pretty much everything.

And have some shit to deal with.

Iroh is doing White Lotus shit everywhere and making up for War Crimes TM while Mai and Ty Lee are in the Capital being specially trained as Ozai's special operatives since his daughter ran away and refuses to appear again. He gets married again and probably has a baby kid with the poor woman, because both his heirs are currently Missing In Action and he can't have that (but, then again, he might also think that this means he won't be usurped because he's a bit doolally)

Lu Ten might be a nonbender, or he might be a prodigious firebender, I vacillate between the two ideas on the regular. Either way, he definitely know all the theory and he and his fiancée (her name is Hai Lien and she's one of the Imperial Firebenders and I could talk about her All Day) train the two younger firebenders.

Then plot happens? The vibes are vague, they keep coming across the White Lotus because Iroh is definitely keeping tabs on them. Season 2 is probably where the canon diverges properly - they end up on the run from Ozai who wants the both of them dead as he has his new heir and doesn't see the use in having any of them still alive, and they are both Convinced TM that they can be the one their father wants back.

Ty Lee and Mai are the ones sent after them, lead by Ozai's new wife - no name yet, just a terrifying bender with a lot of power and little precision; there is a lot of accidental arson that she does not feel sorry for - and like, the amount of effort they put in is Very Minimal; all of Ozai's attempts to make them loyal agents of the Fire Nation have made them go actually, no, not this thanks and loyalty to their old friends outweighs their loyalty to him.

Which means that Ba Sing Se goes hella different. First of all, the Jasmine Dragon still exists but Iroh created it like two years ago as a place for the White Lotus to meet up and this is where the fam all meet back with Iroh.

Second of all, no betrayal. Azula's not there to be all manipulative, it's only Long Feng and the wife who is a) not an emotionally significant figure for either of them and b) evidence that Ozai has really moved on from them - so when she's like you could come home :) neither Zuko nor Azula need Iroh to convince them not to go (although, I've been playing around with the idea that one of them might choose to go - either Zuko because he wants to believe his father, or Azula because she wants to believe her father - and the other staying but I shall see when I get there).

The walls still fall but I think Aang probably doesn't die - unless I make Ozai's wife go apeshit (as in, crazy firestorm that will Kill Everything which I might do) - and the Gaang gets the bedraggled remnants of the Fire Nation royal family (although Iroh peaces out to go do White Lotus stuff - noteably before getting told about the Day of Black Sun because I still want that to fail? I love AUs but I hate diverging too much apparently lol

Anyway; Lu Ten and Hai Lien stay with the Water Tribe fleet while the others go off with the Avatar. Things follow along as they do; Lu Ten and Hai Lien get captured by the Fire Nation after the failed invasion but they escape together, helping out a few other prisoners as well, if either Zuko or Azula go back to the Fire Nation (an idea I'm tempted by just so that the Gaang has a reason to know about the airships) then they return soon after the invasion.

The finale: Fire Fam feat. Katara go off to defeat Ozai's wife (left behind to Defend the Homeland). Lu Ten and Hai Lien meet the others at the airships, having used their escape to hijack one and cause chaos.

Zuko gets crowned because Iroh is like I sure as ain't having that, and Lu Ten is like...I have never wanted something less in my life (which is the end to some of his arc, where he's trying not to let everyone else's pressure get to him, kinda, it's very vague), but they're all very supportive to him, he has a whole family of people ready to help rule the country, he's just the guy officially in charge.

Ozai's in prison; his wife is either dead because accident or dead because she refused to be put in prison; the baby they had is probably barely a year or two old at this point so they are raised almost entirely by their weirdo family.

If I continued the fic, I'd probably rewrite some of The Search, so that Ursa hasn't lost her memories and now that the war is over, she returns to the palace. There's a lot of hurt feelings but they make up and they gain a Proper Parental Figure in her.

Also Kiyi exists because I think she's cute, but Ikem might not because I did not vibe with him. I kind of like the idea of Ursa and Hakoda hitting it off but nothing much happening because separate responsibilities, they just make sure to see each other a bit.

Anyway? Those are the vibes? That's kinda the plot?

There's a lot more character in between the lines, and I would like to add more of the Gaang to it because they're great; I also would like to make a disclaimer that Ozai's wife is not like Azula lite, just to replace her because she's good in this fic.

When I added her, I was slightly worried that that was how she would come across but I think she's very much a separate character - Ozai married her for her raw power but she is young and simply doesn't have the discipline to control it, showing a very important lesson about the uncontrollability of fire; she is also an avid imperialist, beyond the societal imperialism built into the Fire Lord system. Again, vibes - hopefully when I do eventually write this, she doesn't come off as Azula lite.

As for the other OCs! The only important ones I can think of now are Hai Lien (who is there through most of it as she is both a) an avid defender of Lu Ten as a person (either because she's in love with him or they're besties) and b) an avid defender of Lu Ten as the True Heir to the Throne, which is an entire thing going on - she goes through her own anti-imperialism arc herself as they're travelling, which probably ends in her joining the White Lotus; Lu Ten doesn't because he is determined to retire before thirty, that becomes like his entire life goal) and also the little sibling, but they probably become more important in a post series fic/writing.

I honestly don't have much for them, other than that they exist as a necessity for what Ozai is doing.

Anyway, once again, these are the vibes! Specific questions are very welcomed, I get far too distractable and I can miss this in my descriptions.

Here's a little snippet from what I've written already:

Lu Ten doesn’t wake up so much as drift through different states of consciousness until he’s more awake than not.

Everything hurts – a stabbing, rough pain from every slight movement he makes – so he focuses on his breath. Each one comes in deep into the stomach and out with a slow control, a pattern that’s been ingrained from a decade and a half of training under the Dragon of the West.

There’s a soft gasp beside him and he realises someone is holding his hand as it’s squeezed.

“Lu?” Hai Lien whispers, almost disbelieving, and Lu Ten forces his eyes open.

It’s dim, the candles few and each a cool red, but he has to squint all the same to get used to it. It takes him a moment to gather his wits about him, before he realises that this isn’t the eight person tent in the siege camp that he had begun to call home but is instead a cabin within a navy ship.

“You’re awake,” she says, disbelief shining in her dark eyes as her voice shakes. “You’re - oh spirits.”

She runs a hand through her hair (the one not tangled with Lu Ten’s upon the sheets) which is down and more dishevelled than he thinks he’s ever seen it.

“Oh-” She stands from her seiza at his bedside to call through the half open door. “Hey, go get the healers, tell them his highness has woken.”

“Hai?” Lu tries to say as her expression starts to get frenzied; if the dark bags beneath her eyes are anything to go by, she must be exhausted, but he could tell that just from how she was acting. He wants to tell her to go find somewhere to sleep, to get rest for both their sakes, but just trying to say her name alone hurts.

“No, no, don’t try and speak,” she says, her attention focussing entirely on him as she strokes back a lock of hair. “Just...try and stay awake for me, while the healers come. They’ll need to do some more tests, work out what they missed while you were...out of it.”

He wants to nod, wants to agree in some way but the longer he stays conscious, the more everything starts to blur together and hurt.

“And no dying either,” she continues, her voice getting wet with uncried tears, “I don’t want to write to your father if you do.”

So his father was still alive.

Oh that was good.

Everything is too fuzzy in his head to think straight, he can’t even work out why or how he’s even here.

There was a battle, that was right. They were taking advantage of the breach in the wall to take more of the agrarian zone and push into the lower ring and he had been distracted-

And he’d had tea and Pai Sho with his father the night before; he’d been planning the conversation for weeks, pacing anxiously around camp with Hai Lien at his side, but he’d been a coward in the end and didn’t manage to tell him the truth.

The door to the cabin opens and two healers file in.

“Your highness!” One exclaims, their voice wavery and thin over the rushing in Lu Ten’s ears, and Hai Lien’s warm hand in his falls away.

The healer’s fingers are cold, is the last cognisant thought he has before he falls back into the streams of unconsciousness.

It's Lokius! I think they've given me everything I never knew I could have. It's a classic enemy to friends to lovers, built on mutual trust and respect. It's a god in love with a mortal, but the mortal in question is older than the god and also has watched his entire life because he's interested in the mechanics of his being. It's a tragedy, inherently, but it's also incredibly mundane considering the circumstances. It's two people who like each other so much, who cannot stop touching each other, and - ultimately - the entire multi-verse is saved because one guy believed that someone canonically irredeemable could be a better person. I love them so much.

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?

I really like comics/books and that's where I source most of my "canon". I'm not really into the MCU movies, though now that I'm very into Loki it is my great exception. I don't base Deadpool or Spider-Man after anything in their respective movies because I don't like their approaches to the character enough to be inspired by them. I also don't read enough comics to be a true comic-canon writer, but I do like peppering my writing with little details and notes from them.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? 

I am truly where headcanons go to die. I don't have them (or, more realistically, everything I write is true regardless of its alignment with the source)

W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.

I really think that the way fandom writes about sex workers is not only wrong/misinformed/fetishy, but pretty universally bad. I have definitely read some half-decent ones before, but in general it's like. Oh. You don't understand how this works at all! That sucks! (I'm looking at you stripper/cam aus. I am looking at you.)

X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.

I am a sucker for barbarian AUs they are my guilty pleasure of all time. I love arranged marriage and forced proximity and all that jazz.

1. What are your OC’s best and worst qualities? What do they think are their best and worst qualities?

According to me: - Best: She truly cares about people and does what needs to be done because for no other reason that that's the right thing to do. -Worst: She's a follower. She isn't dumb idiot sheep follower--if The Group is doing something that she knows is bad, she'll leave. But if the people she's chosen as a leader or leaders start doing things that are questionable...she won't actually be the first to question it. She will, eventually, but if she's sworn loyalty to a person, it will take a lot to break her from that.

According to Her: -Best: She knows she's a hard worker and can be relied on. She knows that she is, at her core, a team player. -Worst: She feels she's very needy and clingy. She also feels like she's a hair-trigger away from losing control of everything and giving in to every awful impulse she's had.

2. Is there a meaning behind their name, or a particular reason why they have it? (either in the story, or why you as the author decided to give them their name)

Oh I love this one! Cassan is from a character I've had for...uh...almost half my laugh now wow. Let's see if I've gotten better about explaining all this. Cassandra's the birth name and I chose the name because nobody listens to her. Cassan is a version of her that exists where a) Mortal Kombat exists and b) this one is VERY aware of the multiverse existing. And the name Cassan was because I didn't want to put Cassandra herself in this due to all the baggage around her character. So I hacked off letters until the name felt good enough. In universe - Ryu suggested she "hack off the baggage" of her previous life.

16. How do other characters in the story view them?

-Ryu: She's his adopted daughter as far as he's concerned. He views her as somebody who got handed a busted deck of cards. He's aware he's probably been too protective of her, but he's a man of his word, and he promised he'd help her not repeat her worst mistakes. -Canon Kanon Characters: Varies. Most of them see her as a liability because of her lack of training and discipline with her abilities. Some also see her as a liability for Smoke/Tomas Vrbada because he's kinda Going Through It right now. Others feel kinda bad for her and want to help because they're in-universe good people.

God this is actually baffling for me. I watched SB ages ago and as far as I can recall, I was doing a rewatch for some reason and then I think some DCA art happened across my dash and I was like lets see what folks are getting up to with this guy who was barely on screen. I think what happened next is I went to ao3 and now here I am. Thanks fic writers 😘

Of mine, it's a tie between my world hopping y/n's and my unlimited flow one (world hopping but a different flavor) and angel in the wires bc my sweet jackie boy. Of other folks... gosh I think the royal jesters maybe? The designs absolutely slap and I enjoy the setup created in the released fic chapter. A guaranteed way to make my brain start churning, seeing that art. OH AND GOD. HOW COULD I FORGET. GITM. I AM A FOOL AND CLIP.EXE IS MY SWEET SOUTHERN BELLE. 9 - what do you think of the dca's canon appearance? Scary? Cute? Something else?

Honestly? They're weird and a bit ugly and deeply endearing for it. They aren't pretty and they aren't like... waves my hands around, they feel so different from the rest. They feel like somebody's passion project and really remind me of old wooden puppets in a very theatery way? I think if I saw them irl I would be absolutely fascinated. If I saw Moon coming at me in the dark at high speed I would absolutely scream, but they'd really be works of art to get to appreciate up close. Their skrunkly rizz is off the charts. 10/10 would kiss and lovingly maintain. I would do a lot of things to have Sunny be my coworker. I think he would massively improve my work's atmosphere.

Does your OC have any siblings? If so then did their parents have a favourite growing up? Has their relationship with their sibling changed in adulthood? If they don't have any siblings then do they perhaps feel they have missed out on an important relationship? Do they have any especially close friends who go some way towards filling that role?

She has a twin sister Selena, and a younger a third sister Aurora (or Rory). Selena and Solara are essentially night and day, and it's expressed in their mana affinities, but they do care about each other. Even if Selena can sometimes be a little bit mean, especially to Solara (but those with sisters probably know that it's not that uncommon with sisters sometimes...). But they're always there for each other and talk about anything and everything. Rory is considerably younger than the two, and still trying to find her own path in life, but there's love and care back and forth in those relationships as well. They were lucky enough to not be favoured in childhood. All of the girls were different, but they were wonderful in their own ways. Selena and Solara are more independent nowadays than what they were as kids, since while growing up they were going to the same school, same activities and so on, which caused them to be together a lot of the time. But in their adulthood they come together every once in a while to just talk. Or spend time together. With Rory it's mostly also Rory growing to be more independent, since she did lean on the twins while growing up, because... they were her older sisters ^^'

Does your OC find it easy to empathise with their enemies? Or do they see it as important to dehumanise them in order to combat them with sufficient determination?

It depends greatly of the situation, because while she does understand that behind those enemy lines (when humanoid) there are cities and families just like in her home country. But in a battle if it's your own or their own, she tries to shut it out, because it's... much more difficult to be in combat if you stay to linger about what might have resulted into the opponent being there. Everyone plays favourites. And she of course favours her own people over the people of someone else, if she needs to choose. In the heat of the battle, she tries to not think about it.

Ludus 5:

What seduction techniques are most likely to be effective when it comes to your OC? Are there some things guaranteed to get them going? Or are they immune to such things?

Honestly, seduction has a low chance of working unless she already likes and admires you as a person. And one's best chances in succeeding with seduction is admiring her back and showing that you do admire her, genuinely. If it feels generic and shallow form of seduction, she doesn't care. Genuine love and appreciation, as cheesy as it might sound ^^'
