Schüttelbrot is a regional crispy mostly-rye flatbread. This is the easy-to-use cocktail biscuit version, flavored with fennel and caraway. @petermorwood's not wild about them, but I like them a lot. ...Anyway, also admiring the picture of the Fünffingerspitze, there (I guess) to remind you where the stuff comes from, should that detail have slipped your mind.
The lactose-"free" Philly, on the other hand, is a waste of time. The milk from which it's made still has lactose in it—though granted, only a very little—so they add lactase to compensate.
...I have to question whether the amount added is even vaguely therapeutic. Frankly, I'd sooner take my own lactase on top of regular cream cheese... which would also be cheaper.
Der Vinschgau im Westen Südtirols, angrenzend an die Schweiz, ist ein feines Land: Kilometerweit geprägt vom Obstbau – Äpfel, Birnen, Kirschen, Wein, geprägt aber auch von Burgen, Schlössern, Kirchen und einem mächtigen Kloster, dem Benediktinerkloster Marienberg nahe Burgeis. Kürzlich hat es mich dorthin gezogen. Ein paar Tage Vinschgau, bevor die Sommersaison so richtig startet. Denn dann…
