Summary:
Nine-tailed Fox Spirit (Yu Suqiu) and Jade Rabbit Spirit (Xiao Fangfang) heard that absorbing the essence of Tang Sanzang (Guan Haishan) can instantly become immortals, so they pretended to be ordinary people and approached Tang Sanzang, but Sun Wukong (Ruan Zhaohui) saw it through. Tang Sanzang mistakenly believed in the provocation of the fox spirit and chanted the mantra, that drove Sun Wukong away. Nine-tailed Fox is willing to repay the life-saving grace with her body, but Tang Sanzang refuses.
Seeing that the situation is not good, Sha Wujing ( Xīguā Páo) hurried to Flower Fruit Mountain to find his brother. Sun Wukong turned into Tang Sanzang to deceive the fox spirit, but Tang Sanzang was still kidnapped and hid in the ancient well of the Fox Fairy Cave. The master's whereabouts could not be found everywhere, Sun Wukong and Sha Wujing accidentally overheard the monster's conversation, and they disguised themselves as a father and daughter and sneaked into the Fox Fairy Cave. In order to deal with Monkey King, the Green Snake Spirit (Chen Baozhu) went to the Frog King Cave to borrow the Fire God Orb from the Frog King (Yuan Xiaotian). No matter how powerful Sun Wukong is, there is nothing he can do and Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk missed and were captured again. Sun Wukong had no choice but to go to the heavenly court to ask Li Tianwang (Ma Shiju) and the Four Heavenly Kings to help him get rid of the demons. Finally, the three demons were enlightened by Master Gaunyin, and they went back to Purple Bamboo Forest to practice together. Tang Sanzang's master and apprentice continued to set off for the Western Regions to learn Buddhist scriptures.

You may have a little snippet I just wrote that is like seven chapters in the future of my hypothetical prime bros fic because continuity be damned 👍
[597 words]
––
To say Sonic was beyond worried would be an understatement.
Tails wasn't in his workshop, and neither was Nine. Which, normally, would be just fine. They perhaps went out to test whatever was it that they've been working on, or are simply hanging out Chaos knows where. That's how he explained it to himself the first day.
There was multiple issues that arose since then though. Sonic has been all around the zone seeing no sign of either of either of the foxes. The Tornado is still parked outside the hangar and the communicator given to him by Tails doesn't seem to be working either, saying there's a signal problem or whatever.
The only trace and clue that could've caused their sudden disappearance was a peculiar-looking contraption that seemingly materialized in the lab overnight. Whatever transpired there sure left a mess of tools blueprints and papers with two less foxes to be found.
He skimmed through the scattered papers multiple times by now but seeing the words "Prism" and "Portal" quickly scratched down in Tail's handwriting was more than enough to set off alarm bells in Sonic's head.
Literally all that would calm his nerves completely would've been had they left a note saying "Hey idiot, we're experimenting with paradox energy that we somehow got our hands on. You won't be seeing us ever because God knows where it teleported us or if we're getting back as the universe shatters again!
Signed; Tails and Nine. (the two dumbasses you're gonna kill if you ever get to see their faces again.)"
Perhaps Nine just wanted to return to the Shatterverse for a while. Or permanently. Which, don't get him wrong, would make Sonic quite bummed the fox didn't even give a proper goodbye but go figure it was to be expected now that he had the prism energy again and he wasn't one for mushy feelings.
Oh yea and Tails definitely wouldn't have passed up an opportunity to go see the Shatterverse for himself and study and figure out every nook and cranny of it.
But a heads-up would've been nice still!
Not to mention how did they even get their hands on Prism energy? Shadow had the trouble-causing rock and he'd definitely not pass up an opportunity to pick a fight with Nine over stealing it back so maybe he was caught in the crossfire of his brothers' experiments? Did he go with them willingly?? Did he not know any of this was going on and is brooding somewhere on the opposite end of the planet???
Sonic groaned as he harshly plunged his hand onto his knee to stop it from bouncing a thousand miles an hour and used the force of his arm to spring up from the step of Tails' lab.
He put away all the papers in unorganized neat piles on the table a while ago and prayed he didn't damage the portal thingie in doing so.
He walked up closer to it examining it without touching it for the enth time and saw no visible scars of damage on it so perhaps the boys were just taking their time and weren't stuck in the shatterverse or wherever the hell they were at with no way back.
He had to hope and believe that was the case.
With a sigh he opted to speed off into the wilderness to clear his head, he was overthinking for enough today.
Running through the familiar scenery of Green Hill all he could cling to was the unlikely hope of the two foxes suddenly popping back into existence.

A Rusted Heart and A Fox Kit
this is a fic i wrote becuz i am a firm believer in baby nine and cg rusty!!! i dont write all that much tho so sorry if its not up to par w most agere fics ;w; i had fun writing this tho
characters: regressed!nine, caregiver!rusty rose
word count: 1.1k
warnings: none!
summary: after helping dread's crew and returning to new yoke, rusty finds nine running to his base crying. out of curiosity, she follows him only to find him breaking down and going baby mode.
Tumblr media
finally making it through the portal, rusty was launched through the void and back into new yoke. but she wasn't going to see the chaos council. now that they had left her like scrap metal, she was going to help destroy the reinforcements in new yoke. see how the council likes that, eh? a taste of their own medicine.
she fell through the portal to new yoke, and roughly landed on her feet. she began to run to the heart of the city, trying to see what rebels were vulnerable and needed assistance. but as she ran, she spotted a certain yellow fox running with the shards. he tripped and fell on his knees, but quickly got back up and skidded around a corner.
rusty had never seen such behavior from nine, even at that distance. he was usually a very stable and calculated individual, but he seemed to be shaky and discombobulated. she changed her direction, following nine.
into the scareport they went, and to what appeared to be some sort of storage closet from the outside. the metal hedgehog kept her distance, watching nine punch in numbers to a keypad. as the door shut behind him, rusty went up to the door and repeated the pattern of the clicking keys. before the door could even open, she heard a crash followed by sobs.
the door opened, and she slowly walked inside. there she found nine on the floor, sobbing. the shards were scattered around him, and he was hugging his body. unsure of how to approach the two-natural-seven-mechanical tailed fox, rusty walked around to be in front of him. "nine, what are you doing here?"
nine quickly looked up and crawled backwards, away from rusty. tears flowed down his cheeks, and his knees were bleeding. "why are you here?!" he said through gritted teeth as he sighed. he tried to wipe away his tears, but they just kept running.
"you're acting strange. you seem to be much more calm and collected on average, and that's clearly not how you are now," the robotic hedgehog responded. instead of waiting for a response, rusty picked up the shards, and put them on nine's desk. they really shouldn't be on the floor like that.
"wh— how am i supposed to react?! after all that's happened?! how am i supposed to feel okay?!" nine hugged his own body again, stifling cries. rusty contemplated what to do. being with black and batten had taught her about some emotions, but she was unsure of how to handle someone with this strong of emotion, someone who seemed to be in despair. nine stared at her as she thought.
she decided on the first thing she thought of. she helped nine up, and pulled him close to her body. sure, her body was cold and hard, but it was better to do something than to just stand there. she rubbed nine's back, the fox's body stiffening in surprise.
instead of fighting and writhing out of the hug, he loosely hugged back, crying into rusty's shoulder. "there, there, nine. would you like to talk about it?" she tried her best to sound softer than her usual monotonal voice.
"i just... i thought we were friends. i did everything for him. i got captured and manipulated the council from the inside, i helped him destroy chaos sonic, i even offered to start a new world with him in the grim. but he just..." nine trailed off.
"he left," rusty completed for him. she felt a twinge of some emotion in her metal body. she felt sad for nine, having felt the same betrayal from the chaos council. she felt empathetic, hugging the fox slightly tighter. in return, he hugged back with more force.
the two stayed like this for a while, until nine began to make a whining noise. "are you okay, nine?" rusty asked. he pulled away from the hug, biting one of his fingers.
"i feel... weird," he stated. "i feel like i'm younger... what's going on...?" he seemed to be startled by his own feelings. rusty carefully took his hand in hers. "you feel... younger? how young?" she inquired. instead of responding, nine held up four fingers. his face was dusted with embarrassed blush, but his tears had stopped.
rusty tried to think... what would she do if she were taking care of a four year old? she wasn't one to take care of anyone in the first place, but out of pure care and understanding for nine, she would try her best. nine was fidgeting with his shirt, and biting his hand.
she remembered something she had found a while back. she opened her chest plate, and inside was a pacifier. back when she was with batten and black, she found this on the angel's voyage. holding it out as she closed her chest plate, she offered it to nine.
"do you want this?" she simply asked. nine stared for a moment before hesitantly taking the pacifier. placing it in his mouth, he began to relax as he sucked on it and bit it. it was a very strangely calm feeling for the fox kit, as he doesnt remember ever being treated softly and kindly like this.
he held rusty's hand, movingly slowly as he locked eyes with her to see her reaction. she let the fox hold her hand, and patted his head. he seemed strangely more trusting when in this state. rusty picked up nine in her arms, and he giggled in return. rusty noticed that he liked to be carried.
the fox kit rubbed his eyes, and rested against rusty's chest. rusty rocked him back and forth, and walked over to his bed. she placed him down, but nine began to whine again. he clung onto rusty's hand, desperately trying to pull her down on the bed with him.
rusty knew she should be getting back out into the city to help the rebels, but sighed and laid down next to nine. she would just wait until he fell asleep, then she would leave him in peace.
"rus...ty...?" nine spoke, his voice softer and higher pitched than normal. "yes?" the pink hedgehog responded.
"thank you..." nine smiled, snuggling up next to rusty. rusty slightly smiled in return, satisfied in her ability to help the once scared and upset fox. "of course," rusty ruffled his fur.
soon enough, nine had fallen asleep, pacifier still in his mouth. rusty carefully got out of the bed, and tucked the blanket around him. she took one last look around nine's base, and headed for the door. she made a mental note that if she finds any more baby supplies, she would bring them to nine as a gift.
she closed the door to his base and dashed out of the scareport. time to go kick ass and teach the chaos council not to mess with anyone anymore.

Maeko's status within Konoha is...complicated
Any positive significance stems more from her association with other people, rather than any feats or traits of her own.
Tumblr media
Things that boosts her status:
She's a child of the head of the Senju clan
At the time that Maeko grows up, during the last decade of the era of warring states and then throughout the early ears of Konoha, the Senju are one of the most prominent and powerful clans in terms of sheer prowess. While not as wealthy or as specialized as their allies and distant relatives the Uzumaki, they are nonetheless one of the most well-regarded and sough after clans to hire and have been such for ages. Regardless of where you are on the continent, the Senju crest and name are recognizable.
She's a child of the First Hokage
The leader of the first and largest of the shinobi villages.
She's a child of Hashirama fu**ing Senju
The god of shinobi, The Mokuton user, The First Hokage, and so on and so forth. He's a big deal. So are his genes. Maeko and her brothers have lots of those genes.
She's a direct descendant of the current head of the Uzumaki clan (Ashina) and is the granddaughter and niece (respectively) to the 1st and 2nd in line to the title.
The Uzumaki clan is another very prominent and powerful clan, but who prefers to be left to their own devises in the region they've carved out for themselves after years of clever political maneuvering and their sought after skills with sealing techniques. They are wealthy, and infamous for their skills and tenacity.
She's a child of Mito Uzumaki.
A kunoichi of such strength and skill that she was able to seal the Nine-tailed fox inside herself, becoming its first ever host. SHE. SEALED IT. INSIDE. HERSELF. As much as jinchuriki generally ended up becoming outcasts, you can't deny what a fucking unit of a woman she must have been to have the skill and nerve to pull that off.
Things that decreases her status:
Due to being refused a place in the academy, she was never officially a shinobi. She was a civilian. She had no rank, no registration, no identifying hitai-ate. She could not serve the village as a shinobi.
Before the village, if you were born to shinobi parents then you were born a shinobi. You were raised, lived and died a shinobi regardless of your skillset or life-expectancy. Being anything other than that was just not an option, and for the first seven years of her life this was how Maeko thought her life would be, with or without the ability to do ninjutsu. She would serve and fight for her clan best she could, regardless.
The academy set up requirements and exams to determine who would be suitable to join and receive the basic shinobi training to eventually graduate and be officially and publicly considered shinobi, with the hitai-ate and registration being the proof of their rank and competence.
Being a non-shinobi in a clan or community of shinobi, even if you did find a job to make yourself useful, still drastically decreased your status and rank, and this way of thinking lived on through the first couple of decades of Konoha.
Although civilians did obtain important roles to play in keeping the village running on a day-to-day basis, striving towards becoming a shinobi is still the ideal (propaganda who?), especially if you are born into a shinobi clan that took deep pride in that identity.
Maeko was born into one of THE shinobi clans. As a child to THE shinobi.
Being refused a place in the academy and being forced to remain a civilian painted her as weak and incompetent, decreasing her worth and rank in the eyes of many actual shinobi, both young and old. (If a Senju, a child of Hashirama, failed to enter the academy then she'd have to be a real disappointment)
And because of who her father was it wasn't really possible to hide this and for her to just slip quietly into the civilian population either.
Her inability for nature transformation which made it impossible for her to perform Ninjutsu, Genjutsu and many forms of Fuinjutsu.
It wasn't entirely unheard of, but for someone born in a shinobi clan, especially a clan like the Senju or Uzumaki,  this was very, very rare, and abnormal*. Such an individual could be considered anything from unlucky and misfortunate to pitiful and disgraceful, even by their own clansmen.
During the era of warring states, Ninjutsu (i.e. any form of jutsu that transforms the nature of chakra to give it unnatural properties and characteristics) is the defining skill of shinobi and is what sets them apart from other  groups that utilize chakra for combat such as the Samurai**, and common mercenaries without any skill at all in the use of chakra for combat.
So if you didn't, or couldn't, use any form of Ninjutsu, then you would not be considered a shinobi. DUH!
So even though Maeko was still a Senju and Uzumaki, with all the tenacity, endurance, strength and knack for combat that entailed, and had spent most of her childhood training and being far from incompetent in other areas such as Taijutsu and Bukijutsu, and was still more than capable of accessing, channeling and control her chakra, she lacked that one defining ability and that was enough for her to be told that she could never be a shinobi. ***
Notes:
*although all living beings have chakra, the ability to have awareness, access and use it the way shinobi does isn't something everyone can do. If you are born into a well-established shinobi clan you are more likely than not going to have this ability, even if it won't say anything abut how skilled you will be at using it. But if you are born to a civilian family with no real ties to a shinobi clan (or samurai clans) where this awareness is more or less genetically passed down, it's less likely that you will be born with it.
**Samurai saw transforming the nature of chakra as spiritually detrimental, and no self-respecting samurai would ever be seen using ninjutsu, and exclusively used chakra for and mastering difficult techniques of shape transformation and advanced forms of channeling and control (eg. Walking on water, walking on unconventional surfaces, boosting their strength and speed, channeling and condensing chakra around a weapon to alter its shape and range and release this chakra with incredible accuracy and control to create ranged attacks, accessing the lower of eight gates, break free from a genjutsu and more). *** The examinations and requirements that determined which aspiring shinobi would be accepted into the academy would shift and change over the years for various reasons, partially in order to facilitate an increase of shinobi before, during or after times of war and unrest. Requirements would be loosened and the level of potential and extant ability required would be lowered or changed. This was why Rock Lee would be able to enter and graduate the academy some fifty-five years after Maeko was rejected during the entrance examinations. Had he been trying to join in her day, he would have been flat-out rejected and sneered at just like she was.

Iron Widow, Chapters 1-5
Wu Zetian is a vicious woman and I love it. I adore it.
I can appreciate a main character that's a little bit feral. It's hardly like she's wrong to be so, either. She lives in an extremely misogynist society, her feet have been broken and bound into "lotus feet", and her sister was killed. Used as energy to power a giant mech that fights alien bugs. I think, though, that while these all might be reasons for her attitude, I don't think they're the end-all be-all, as though she were a perfectly docile women enriched in feminine manner before. No, I think her internal drive, her anger, all of it are intrinsically herself.
Important because these are nominally masculine traits that I haven't often seen depicted in a female lead. Usually I tend to see the modern-typical example of fantasy womanhood, that of competence, coolness, a collected attitude over a mental storm. It's anecdotal, I totally admit, but my experience so far with our heroine has been so refreshing for my personal reading life that I can't help but bring it up. I wonder, a bit idly, if Author Zhao's editor often argued with them about Zetian's character. If whomever was overseeing was worried that Zetian would come off as "bitchy" or "unlikable". Something I've seen a time or seven when a lady character expresses herself in any way that is less than perfectly "reasonable".
In a book so steeped in gender and its roles, it's hard not to talk about its parallels in the real world. I expect I'll have much to say about it down the line, as well.
For the rest, the substance of the story, I want to say that I appreciate the kind of earnestness Author Zhao presents their world with. It's a bombastic, vibrant, up-front world. The last thing I would expect from a book is a type chart that shows the five elements' strengths and weaknesses on the front page. The mechs transform in response to spiritual energy, and their forms are shown int he first pages. Ah! It tickles me how unapologetically fucking radical it is. So far there have been no long sermons on why having animal mechs that become bipeds are tactically the best choice for humanity's defense, and I hope there never is. I'm with you, I am along for this ride, my disbelief is liberated from my body by sheer force of my love for giant robots.
For the meat of what's happened, as I've said, Zetian's sister has been killed. Her spiritual energy was used up by Yang Guang to pilot the Nine-Tailed Fox. This is seen as business-as-usual by everyone in society, even Zetian's own family. And it is frustratingly heartbreaking that it's so, everyone seems to be on the page that this was the best possible thing she could have done with her life. To be fuel. Because isn't it? Isn't it better to give up a life to the Prince-class Pilot than let the Hundun threat breach the wall?
No. No, not in the slightest. Not even a little bit. Because the truth is that she never gave her life willingly, the society around her told her, her entire life, that it was all she was worth. That's not a choice, nor a noble sacrifice. It's a tragedy that these women are all doing this, clinging to the faintest hope they'll be a Balanced Match when they're given over as Concubine to a pilot.
Yizhi, ah you sweet boy. He wants nothing more than to save Zetian's life. There's no way she'll ever assassinate Yang Guang and come out alive. But the fact of the matter is that Zetian doesn't want to live under this system anymore, doesn't want to deal with the inevitable pile of bullshit that would fall on her and him. She's poised, hairpin in hand, to strike at everything shes grown to hate. Yizhi can do nothing about it at this point, even if they could have had a quiet life. But of course they can't, and not just because of Zetian's decision, or because Yizhi didn't "fight hard enough" for her. Their entire society set this split into motion, and it's all the more sad for it.
And all the more gross when we meet with the selection process for a new Concubine Pilot. It's exactly what you expect. They're all told to, in essence, be emotionally responsible for Yang Guang. To comfort him, to give him anything he wants, even their bodies. Even their minds. Seeing as how piloting is a melding of minds, after a fashion. Be meek and submit, they all say. I find it no surprise that the very picture of this "ideal submissive woman" was Zetian's biggest obstacle to getting picked. Xiao is everything Zetian isn't, all her fierceness is in guarding the system built to use her, and she folds to the words of authority in moments. It's why Zetian is ultimately picked, she'll be interesting for awhile and then, like all the rest, she'll be gone. Sooner the less fun prettyboy Yang has, I presume.
It might be the very battle that starts now.

[ A ] HRI'S FORGOTTEN PAST .
Tumblr media
Ahri has searched low and high for answers on what she is and the lineage of her people. The Vesani, as they are called, though she can never seem to find out any more than anyone else. In fact, she is the only known Vesani in the world, a name that was given to her race by a Piltovan scientist who once caught sight of Ahri nearly a century ago.
The truth of Ahri's story is one she has forgotten and can never remember. Over ten thousand years ago, there was a great titan war, one that raged between the mortals and titans. Her original name had been Setsuka, given to her by her parents for her beauty, the way her skin glistened like the pearly snow of winter, and her lovely singing voice. But when the war came, Setsuka knew she could not stand aside while her family and friends could be killed. So she, with many other mortals, gathered to gather and did what no one had ever done before. They called upon the spirit realm, meeting with many of the animal spirits beyond. The veil had been thinned and Setsuna met with a powerful fox spirit, who was a fickle beast. She did not choose likely, for the power of the fox was one that could be dangerous in the wrong hands. The fox has the spirit to maintain life and death, to see into the souls around them, and were often perceived as both benevolent and malignant spirits. One strong soul could meld with the spirit and the Fox had chosen Setsuka.
The merge between spirit and mortal granted gifts to Setsuka that no other human being would have. Her body changed, taking on the attributes of the fox spirit, not just one, but nine tails and her feet shifted to look more fox-like hind legs. human ears became fox ears and markings covered her face. Even her eyes became more fox-like, gold and slit with the power to see in the dark and see better. Every part of her heightened, sight, sound, smell, and even touch and taste enhanced. Fangs grew and power tickled at the tips of her fingers. Along with hundreds of others who had merged with other animal spirits, they took arms and went to war with the Titans.
The war raged for years, but with the powerful Vastayashai'rei, they turned the tide and defeated the Titans. Setsuka… was not so fortunate. Despite her immense power, and the ability to bring Titans to their knees by draining so much essence she weakened them, and her fight with one of the Titans left her severely injured. She had been left to die on the battlefield, and it was only for the sake of her stubborn desire to live that she found a place of safety. Her memory suffered, concussed and wounded, Ahri fell into a spirit trance.
Millenniums passed, the Titan war long forgotten, and the Vastayashai'rei spread to the far reaches, returning the spirits to their spirit lands but their effects of being with the spirits stayed; creating the line of Vastaya. Setsuka, though, woke one day to a curious pack of ice foxes exploring the cave she had stayed in for the last 7 Millenniums. She Loved these little foxes, they felt like home to her, but the problem was she could not remember home. She couldn't remember where she came from, or who her parents were.
She couldn't remember who she was.
Starved, hungry, and desperate for food, she hunted with the ice foxes, feeding on the animals of the winter land. Despite being in the cold, and having no fur on her arms, she could handle it like a seasoned fox. Yet, she knew she wasn't like these ice foxes, she had a human form though she knew she was not human. And her curiosity of the human realm intrigued her. But she also could feel something upon them; something she needed. Her powers from the fox spirit started to emerge and the need to feed. She had been starved for seven millennia, she needed the energy and life force; the titan essence had sustained her for those millennia but now, she was hungry.
She heard the names called between humans and decided to give herself a name.
Ahri.
Since then, Ahri has sought to understand her powers, understand who she is, and where she comes from. and most of all.
Why is she the only one of her kind? As her memory is gone and she has no idea of the life she once lived as Setsuka.

Yokai Ryokan - Chapter 2
My updates might be even more sporadic than usual, I'm quite busy this following month and a half :{
Jimmy woke up to a cold, very cold and damp sensation on his cheeks. And the first thing he saw as he opened his eyes was Scott's cyan and gold eyes, and he could feel his cold breath on his face. As Scot pulled away with a relieved smile, he noticed the small horns he had only ever seen in books about myths and legends. Small, rounded, slightly resembling antlers. And there was that tail with cyan scares and dark cyan fur along the top of it and a fluffy tuft at its end. And as he blinked and looked around he spotted fWhip, and his nervously flicking fox ears and all his tails. Was it seven? Nine? It was hard to say with how much they were moving. Burning away what remains of those monsters. "He's awake," Scott called out to the redhead, still supporting Jimmy so he doesn't fall down again. Be it on his back or his face.
fWhip burned away the last already mangled and charred corpse and quickly joined them. "How are you feeling? Are you good enough to walk? We're really sorry but whatever happened makes it impossible for us to disguise ourselves again," he jumped to explain.
"Slow down, he's got to be confused," Scott sighed, rolling his eyes.
"I know, but more of those things might be coming," fWhip huffed and more howling echoed in the distance. "Dang it. Can you walk?" he asked.
Jimmy just shrugged. A lot has just happened and he was surrounded by handsome - very handsome - men, he'd be overwhelmed even if circumstances were different, tails and horns and monsters or not. "I think so, the weird itching and headache are gone?" he added with a slight shrug.
"Okay, we'll take you to the inn, I'd rather not test how Katherine might react, she tolerates us, strong yokai it is, to a degree, and that wasn't onmyoji energy... I have no idea what that was but we should be careful," Scott nodded and helped Jimmy up.
Jimmy could not, in fact, handle walking the other half of the way to the inn end ended up being carried by fWhip. The kitsune, as the man himself said was much warmer than the water ryu (a/n: my damn brain needs a separation from European dragons). And created a small soul flame - another fWhip explanation - to light up the path and maybe keep some monsters away. "I have no idea what those were but they gave me the creeps," fWhip muttered. "Like... I never saw something like that..."
"Neither have I, but they seemed eerily familiar... Like there was a connection... Something in their energy was familiar but I can't put a finger on it," Scott muttered in an annoyed tone, twirling his umbrella. It was rather cute to Jimmy's frazzled brain. "Hopefully whatever's blocking our ability to disguise ourselves runs out or we're in trouble, Katherine won't like it," he sighed.
"Isn't Gem one of the shrine maidens?" Jimmy asked he was feeling significantly better but fWhip just shook his head when he said he could walk. "Why wouldn't she be okay with..."
"It's too complicated to say now but in short words," fWhip explained as more howling could be heard in the woods. Still distant. Maybe a bit further than before? "A strong yokai who used to live here turned evil," he continued, speeding up, "and it wasn't that long ago so Katherine's not big on trusting us right now," he finished. The inn was almost in sight.
"Stratos has wards, we'll be safe there," Scott's voice was slightly shaking as more howling echoed through the woods. This time closer. He was clearly not in the mood to fight anything. Much less completely unknown to them monsters of even more unknown origin.
When they entered the back side of the ryokan they were met by a shocked Joel. As Scott and fWhip tried to explain their appearance, Jimmy looked to the path. One of the three-headed beast dogs was there snarling. "Guys? There's one..." As he was saying that Joel pulled a bow out of nowhere and shot it dead. The Beast dissolved into dark smoke as the arrow vanished.
"Inside," Joel said sternly and no one argued with that. fWhip carried Jimmy to the staff building followed closely by Scott. "Luckily all the guests are in town, enjoying all the early stalls and pop-up performances," he said and left to find his wife.
They sat in silence. fWhip scrunched his face and suddenly tails and ears were gone. "It passed," he let out a relieved sigh as Scott followed suit. "And do not apologise, you obviously have even less of an idea what happened there than the two of us," he added, patting Jimmy's cheek.
"What the hell are you two doing to Gem's friend?!" Lizzie huffed as soon as she walked in. Hand on hips, hair tied in a messy bun, still in an apron. She was clearly helping in the kitchen before Joel went to get her. Speaking of, he was behind her, hand on her shoulder.
"Protecting him?" fWhip offered. "We were walking him from the shrine so Gem can get her work started. About halfway there, he fell to the ground holding his head. Then those monster dogs, like eight or ten walk out, Joel saw one. And then Jimmy exploded this... good, warm, clearly not human, energy, destroying them and our disguises. They work now," he explained and looked over Jimmy and Scott to see if they wanted to add anything.
"What he said. We've been hearing howling the whole rest of the way," Scott nodded but he didn't look like he was quite there. He was staring out a window at the darkened forest. "There was something familiar in those monsters' energy... I haven't... It was weird," he finished his scattered thought. "How are you feeling? Even the smallest odd feeling."
Jimmy hummed. "I'm fine now. My head's slightly spinning but I think that's mostly confusion," he shrugged and there was fWhip's hand on his forehead. "I certainly feel better than I was the whole day... Like since the third torii of the stairs from the main road to here," he added and fWhip blushed slightly. The mysterious figure on the gate came back to mind. "It was you I saw on that gate?" he asked, blinking.
"Yeah... I just wanted to see Gem before Katherine puts her in miko robes..." he sighed, sitting back and staring at the tatami floor.
"So... What now?" Lizzie asked. "We can't let Katherine know Jimmy's possibly a yokai of great spiritual power, she'd flip," she sighed and looked at Joel.
"Well, I can't talk for fWhip but if you," he looked at Jimmy, "are okay with it I can stick around you to make sure no more of those dogs attack and maybe try and teach you how to control your energy? Or try to? You looked damn bad since we saw you at the temple," he pushed some errand hairs off of Jimmy's face. "And if you are okay with it," he added, looking at Lizzie and Joel.
"Oh, I don't mind, that thing gave me the creeps even through the barrier. And if Katherine and her shrine maidens are worth anything they already felt that energy and will be looking for whatever caused it," Joel hummed, leaving Lizzie's side and looking out the window looking towards the shrine. "And pretend everything is okay because of the festival... Lizzie?"
"Same as Joel. And I hope you would help if anything attacks this place," she nodded, her attitude softening a bit. "fWhip I know you hate hiding things from Gem but..."
"Don't worry, I'm going to help. Just... I'm trying to think what Jimmy can even be. I... His energy was so different from me or Scott and we're the strongest around here. It was so..." he stopped for a second. Looking right into Jimmy's eyes. "It felt, for the lack of better words, good. Like it's incapable of hurting anything but it destroyed those monsters. I never heard of Yokai with such good energy," he finished with a shrug.
Jimmy just nodded. "I have no idea what's going on but I get that we can't tell the temple because some strong yokai turned evil recently and they have a hard time with trusting more powerful yokai, and I'm guessing here, even smaller yokai aren't too happy with it," he slowly summarised what he gathered from it all. "And I might be a yokai but we have no idea what kind and why I wouldn't know it... Okay... I"m more than willing to learn how to control what I did there, even maybe learn how to utilise it to defend myself," he added, staring up at the ceiling. This was a lot.
All five of them were silent for a moment until Jimmy sighed and flopped to the tatami floor. "Can we leave heavy topics for later and rest now? I was feeling weird the whole day, exploded and learned I might not be human..."
"Of course," Lizzie jumped right back to being a host. "Sausage is making dinner, you two better stay the night, we can't be sure what's in the woods," she chattered and almost dragged the three of them to the staff house's dining area where Hermes was already setting up plates.
"We're having guest, auntie?" he asked, looking between fWhip and Scott with wide eyes. The kid obviously was excited to see them.
Lizzie nodded, and once she had the three of them seated, Joel went to make sure no more monsters were trying to breach Ryokan's protections and went to help with dinner. Taking the kid with her. Leaving them awkwardly sat together.
"Are you really okay?" fWhip asked after a minute. Or two. "You're Gem's friend... I don't... I don't often talk to humans who don't know about yokai, but you don't have to hide what you're really feeling. I... I'll understand..." he was clearly not saying everything he wanted to say. But the way Scott patted his back was more than words. Gem. It must have been hard for him to learn his twin sister was different.
"I... I'm slowly processing what's happened today... I think I'm okay but it's a lot. We'll see how I feel after some sleep," he sighed and stared out the window. It looked darn peaceful considering all the recent revelations. "I'll assume, everyone here and that Oli character is also Yokai."
He was right in assuming that but neither Scott nor fWhip would say what kind of yokai everyone was. "It's their thing to say," Scott said and the kitsune nodded. They did confirm that fWhip indeed had nine tails and he agreed to show them to Jimmy in more detail another day when they had more privacy and time. And Scott was indeed a mythical ryu and usually lived in the lake, during tourist season he moved between smaller lakes in the woods. And with a chuckle, just before the diner was served he said that he was willing to show Jimmy his full form if they ever happened to have enough room.
"Everyone in town, even just humans, knows that there are yokai around," Scott calmed Jimmy's worry that someone might see him. "The valley is locked to tourists outside the season and I'm very careful, no need to worry about me," he finished with a smile and thanked Lizzie for the food.
An hour after the dinner was finished and he got into his bed Jimmy was unable to sleep. He kept tossing and turning in his futon. Overthinking his whole life and all the weird hunches he ever had. All weird shadows he could recall seeing. Was it all being a possibly forcefully disguised yokai or something else? Should he tell fWhip and Scott about all those small dumb things he avoided thanks to these premonitions? All the bigger things he could possibly stop but being a coward didn't? Probably. Next time it's just three of them he told, lied to, himself.
He was at it for maybe another half an hour. An hour? When a shadow appeared in his window. A small fox with three tails and weirdly shining in dark piercing blue eyes. The same shade as fWhip's tail fur. "fWhip?" Jimmy called out and the fox jumped in through the half-open to the summer heat window. And sad on top of /jimmy's chest. Still as a small fox, luckily for Jimmy's poor bone structure.
"Rest," Jimmy heard fWhip's voice from the fox as it settled on top of him. It was calming and reassuring. But also...
"fWhip you jerk..." suddenly Scott slinked into the room. Jimmy clearly remembered closing it but he was not about to question anything these two do. And there was a cool presence of Scott next to him. "We guessed you would be awake, analysing your whole life, hope you don't mind if we try to help."
"I certainly couldn't sleep when I learned I'm a yokai and Gem isn't. There are no yokai hybrids, it's fifty-fifty chance which the child is..." fWhip hummed, almost a whisper, not moving off of Jimmy's chest.

Meet Kiyoko
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Decided to finally give that fox lady a few sketches. Kinda wanted show Kiyoko's relations with other characters from POM series. But anyway its a little description of her:
Name: Kiyoko
Species: Angelic Kitsune
Age: 21
Character: Outside she might look shy, easily scared and not much of talker, but when she gets more comfortable with friends she is talkative, energetic, friendly. Always puts her friends and family security and happiness on the first place. Would be ready to die for people who she loves. Often uses her heart and emotions and empathy to solve a problem. Always afraid that she might do or say something inappropriate and everyone will look at her as on weirdo.
Abilities: Flying, Light Ability (what I mean is that she can control a light and also creates a light), also penguins showed her basics in fighting
Appearance: Light brown fur, white ends on paws and tails, white tummy, seven tails (not nine), angel look like white wings, grey eyes
Relations with others:
Private: Kiyoko is like older sister and friend for Private. They both love to spend time together like going on ice cream, playing chess or watching Lunacorns together. About that last one... Kiyoko finds Lunacorns boring since the scheme is like in Dora the Explorer but watches it with Private for his satisfaction. In times when penguins find Private's ideas childish Kiyoko is the one who cheers up Private and in some situation even agrees on his ideas. Would fight everyone who is a threat to the youngest of the group.
Rico: More like friends but also has brother/sister moments. They both share love to rock music genre. Kiyoko is really impressed on Rico's ability to vommit and swallow thing up without any outside and inside damage. She enjoys moments when Rico can express his passion to explosions but also wants to be the one who can stop him from going crazy before it's to late. They do of course has a moments when they don't share the same opinion and has some little quarrels but quickly they regrets it and wants to make up again. Kiyoko is also a person who navigates Rico when he becomes too naive on someone's words (especially Julien's words).
Kowalski: Left brained brother and right brained sister. Actually they share some traits of their characters. Kiyoko is like younger sister for Kowalski but it's not clearly shown. Kiyoko likes to ask him a questions about his inventions and get to know more about science even tho she understand more creative stuff. When other doubts Kowalski's ideas and inventions Kiyoko is the one who supports and motivates Kowalski to keep going. Scientist doesn't show this to her but deeply appreciates her support. Kowalski in return likes to have her around as an science assistant and knows she'll gladly go with him on science convention. When he's not inviting new things he enjoys hanging out with Kiyoko and Private and sometimes Marlene.
Skipper: Here we go. Their relation is more complicated looking at how they both act on each other. Kiyoko really wants to befriend penguins and Skipper also counts in it even tho his character annoys Kiyoko in most of time. But also that fox lady can't deny that deep inside has feelings for that penguin commando. But would rather bite off her paw than confess her feelings to him. (Why? She finds herself a catastrophy and the worst gf material so thats why she prefer see Skipper being happy with someone else and just stay as his friend). Really tries hard to be a big help for him and rest of the team. These two had hard time bounding with each other due to their characters differences. But in the end they kinda befriended each other and enjoys going out for ice cream or sushi. After the penguins found out that Kiyoko is Kitsune with light ability Skipper can count on Kiyoko in missions where her abilities can be useful. Mostly shows that he is only grateful to her for her powers but deeply he is grateful for her being herself.
Marlene: Bestieeeees ~ like Marlene was one of the happiest animals in the zoo when she found out that the new animal is a girl. Kiyoko for some time was a roommate with Marlene before she was moved to her own habitat. But it gave them a time to bound. Marlene and Kiyoko can count on each other when comes to girlish problems. Kiyoko is to this day glad that Marlene really wanted to befriend her. And so Marlene is glad to finally have a girl friend in the zoo. In hard times Marlene is a big comfort for Kiyoko. Not only talking out a problem but also comforting her by simple making a tea or cookies together or playing games to make bad feelings disappear. And vice versa. Kiyoko wants to be a comfort for Marlene when she feels bad or sick. In spare time they both visits each other or hang out to city for some snacks or ice cream or other stuff. It's just obvious they these two bonded with each other and will be devastated if one of them suddenly had to move to the other zoo.
Well I guess this is all I can add to her character. And here is a bonus:

 ― [ A ] HRI'S FORGOTTEN PAST .
Ahri.
Since then, Ahri has sought to understand her powers, understand who she is, and where she comes from. and most of all - Why is she the only one of her kind? As her memory is gone and she has no idea of the life she once lived as Setsuka.

Do you think you could make a list from the strongest demon king to the weakest?
Maybe Wukong's sworn brothers other than the demon bull king wouldn't be included because we never see them fight (although I understand they fought alongside Wukong when he rebelled against heaven?)
I could only give out a rough outline since I'm not really a 'power scaler' and honestly it's hard to say if by strong you mean the most difficult or if they had powerful attacks. Most of Wukong's worst fights aren't, particularly because his enemies were physically powerful but just had a strong weapon or a single powerful attack while being a glass canon.
While Wukong's sworn brothers did join the fight against heaven, their own armies were captured. Not sure if this was to reflect Wukong's favoritism toward his own monkeys or to show how his sworn brothers were outclassed but I am not even going to try to guess.
So this will be more of a list of Wukong Most DIFFICULT fights to the easiest fights.
Hurt Wukong Trapped Wukong Fought (tie) Fought (lost) Lost without Fight Never seen Fight (inconclusive) Magic Item
Red Boy - made Wukong pass out, Guanyin subdued him, glass cannon
Scorpion Demoness - poisoned Wukong, killed by Pleiades Star Offical, glass cannon
Yellow Wind Demon - make Wukong blind, he needed Lingshan's help, glass cannon
Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord - blinded Wukong momentarily, also taken out by Star Official Pleides
Golden-Winged Great Peng - Talons overpowered Wukong, was taken out by Buddha
Silver Horned King - captured Wukong due to magic spell and has magic item, was killed later though
Single Horned Rhinoceros King - very powerful magic item used, subdued by Laozi
Yellow Brows Great King - powerful magic item and needed Maitreya Buddha help to defeat
Princess Iron Fan - blew Wukong away with magic item, he needed Lingshan's help
Golden Horned King - captured Wukong due to magic items
Six Eared Macaque - tie until Buddha gave Wukong the upper hand
Bull Demon King - impressive fight but still ran away after being overwhelmed in numbers
Yellow Robe Demon - impressive fight but Wukong still needed the 28 Star's help
Nine-Headed Insect - ran away until taken out by Erlang Shen
Black Wind King - good at escaping, needed Gaunyin's help
Great Immortal King of Spiritual Touch - Gaunyin defeated in the end
Yellow Toothed Elephant - defeated Bajie, lost to Wukong
Azure Lion / Lion-Lynx Demon - defeated Wujing, lost to Wukong
Grand Saint of Nine Spirits - Wukong had Tianzun to help
King of Dust Protection - captured Bajie and Wujing
King of Heat Protection - captured Bajie and Wujing
King of Cold Protection - captured Bajie and Wujing, was killed by Bajie
Lady Earth Flow - able to slip away, needed Nezha and King's Li's help
Great King Jupiter's Rival - had a magic item but never got a chance to use against Wukong
Tuolong Black River God - his own cousin took him out but even Wujing could fight him
Python Demon
White Bone Demon - hard to pin down but killed in one blow
Spider Demons - stole Sanzang but very easy to defeat
King of the Southern Hill
Tiger Strength Great Immortal
Elk Strength Great Immortal
Antelope Strength Immortal
White Deer Spirit
Nine-Tailed Vixen
Great King Fox Number Seven
Wansheng Dragon King
Demon King of Confusion
Dragon Demon King
Peng Demon King
Lion Demon King
Female Macaque King
Snub Nose Monkey King
Bear Mountain Lord
This is my personal take on the Demon Kings and as you can see, I did include demons that aren’t technically Demon Kings but rather the main antagonist in their arc. This also doesn't include ALL the demons or any gods or immortals that Wukong has fought with either, these are just the Demon Kings (or at least demons that are the big bad in their arcs) so there are still other antagonists that are in the book on here.
I am solely going on how the fights went in my notes and what I can remember so if you remember these fights going differently and actually want to add any details please let me know. I didn't include anything that the demons like 'claim' to have or powers or feats that they have done, just what they ACTAULLY did in the story, cause actions speak louder than words.
There could be grey area with the demons with magic items. And you could argue how easily the demons that caused Wukong the most damage were easily defeated by other gods just because they could bypass their one (1) magic spell gimic that was just giving Wukong trouble. Two of these Demon Kings were taken out by the SAME ROOSTER just because they are insect demons and roosters are their natural enemies. So take that as you will... Other demons Kings were defeated just cause their owner showed up before they could really fight too.

Hide and seek
Word count: about 1400 words
Summary: Shadow plays hide and seek with the kids. It’s nice.
- - - - -
Twelve. Eleven. Ten.
Shadow took a deep breath, keeping his eyes closed until the last second.
Nine. Eight. Seven.
Chaos control was out of the equation here. Not that he needed it.
Six. Five. Four.
It was all about focusing on his senses. Hear the smallest noise, spot the slightest movement.
Three. Two. One.
The hedgehog tensed his muscles, a smirk briefly appearing on his face.
"I'm coming!!!" With an exaggerated movement of his arms Shadow removed himself from the large tree trunk, eyeing his surroundings carefully. He was against experienced opponents and knew he would need to be at his best.
Hide and seek was a serious game after all. Well, that's what the kids would always say whenever they asked him to play. They loved a good challenge, and the dark mobian had both heightened senses and a rigorous training for him. The youngsters didn't quite stand a chance, but he knew better than to go easy on them.
This time was no different. Shadow started skating at a slow pace along the main path of Firecreek Park, detailing the bushes and trees with attention. He'd been to this place a few times before, but Cream and Tails knew every corner of it from hanging out regularly with Charmy —who basically lived next door. The bee was also the smallest of them, so he would be the most difficult to spot.
As he passed a large fountain the hedgehog stopped. Espio and Silver were on a bench chatting and drinking cans of juice. The chameleon noticed him and stared back with a raised brow. "Did you lose them?" he asked. "We're playing." Shadow replied as he turned his back on the two. "I'll bring them back before you know it. – Take your time, Vector's picking up the pizzas before getting home. We have at least half an hour." Espio said with a smile, eyeing the striped mobian leaving towards the wooden area.
This still felt new, in a way. Of course Shadow had many an outing with Rouge and Omega, ranging from karaokes to "casual secret base infiltration" —as his best bat friend sometimes called them. Surprising as it was, even wrecking Eggman facilities could prove fun when surrounded by people you loved.
Playing with the kids was different. They were always full of energy and eager to play, their enthusiastic optimism topped with mischievous innocence. A contrast to the chaotic, sometimes cynical train wreck that was Team Dark.
Of course it reminded him of the Ark. Despite her poor health, Maria also showed joy and excitement whenever they could play.
Good memories.
Movement caught his attention. A rustle in hydrangeas on his left —ah, just a flicky. With a groan Shadow resumed his search, following the curved path and glancing methodically at any potential hiding spot.
Right before reaching a pond area, a rustle made his ears tilt. Red irises focused on a hint of yellow peeking through reeds, below the water.
They're really going for it, huh.
With an amused smile the hedgehog skated to the edge of the pond, and deftly threw a pebble right where he saw something. Surely enough, a muffled shout was followed by a pissed fox jumping out of the water. "That hurts!!! – You fight giant robots every week, I thought you could handle a little stone." Shadow replied as he approached Tails. "Found you." The kid frowned at the dark mobian, but he was evidently amused as well.
"I thought I was perfectly hidden…" Tails said. "The reeds and water reflections are great camouflage for many species. – Well, I have to admit I didn't expect one of you to hide underwater." the hedgehog replied with a shrug. "I was underestimating your wits."
Tails grinned as he shook his breathing straw, flattered by the compliment. "You still found me really quickly, though. – Mmh, don't forget I'm the ultimate player here. Please don't catch a cold while I search for the others." Shadow added after taking a look at the youngster's drenched fur.
Deciding blowing raspberries was a valid answer to his request, the striped mobian continued wandering through the park. The budding colours of autumn were pleasing to the eye, and the gentle wind —not yet cold— made his quills and fur bristle with anticipation.
No doubt Eggman would attack soon, and GUN would keep trying to get a hold of Team Dark, but for now the hedgehog was just feeling alive and content. A feeling he was still adjusting to.
"Come on, I won't hurt you!" The voice was coming from a bit ahead. It surprised Shadow, who immediately accelerated forwards. Cream was supposed to stay hidden and silent, so hearing her was unexpected. "See? You don't have to hide, I'm a nice person!" the bunny continued.
After a harsh turn between two birch trees the hedgehog stopped in front of a large, imposing elm. On one of its branches was Cream, seemingly looking at something on the trunk.
"Cream? Is everything okay?" Shadow asked, taking slow steps towards her. "Oh! Sorry Mr Shadow, I forgot about the game!" the small mobian exclaimed, putting a hand to her mouth before pointing it towards a cavity in the tree. "I found a small squirrel and I'm trying to become friends with them."
The hedgehog repressed a laugh. Children were such a wonder, intense in their activities yet able to skip to the next one… just like that. It reminded him of Sonic. Not that the blue blur would mind being compared to a child. Shadow could almost picture his voice: "Heh, at least kids know how to have fun!"
Amused chuckles brought the daydreamer back to Cream, whose hand was being curiously sniffed by a small grey squirrel. "Look Mr Shadow!" she whispered from her branch, "I think they like me! – It would seem so. Go back to Espio and Silver once you're done, I still have to find Charmy. – Alright, thank you!"
With an endeared sigh the hedgehog continued his tour of the park. His last target was not to be underestimated: the bee was not only brother to a skilled ninja, but also had great intuition. It was no wonder Vector would let him work on cases for Chaotix despite his young age.
Keeping his senses sharp Shadow skated along bushes and flower beds, under engraved arches and even across the grass. He checked the three ponds carefully, letting an annoyed hum as he left again —unsuccessful. The skies were starting to wear their warmer hues, a sign they would soon need to return to the Chaotix home.
Slowing to a stop near a streetlight that blinked on, the dark mobian closed his eyes and focused. Where did he forget to look? What hiding place might Charmy choose? It could be something unexpected, and of course he had the ability to fly like the other kids.
Realisation hit Shadow. He groaned, pissed by his oversight. The very first spot he ought to check… The tree he chose to countdown at the start of the game.
Gliding back to his starting point, he bit a smirk. There was the bee, perched on top of the highest branch. Sticking out his tongue at him. "Oh. You sneaky…" Shadow started, shaking his head. "Almost thought you were gonna forget me here!" Charmy grinned as he started flying in circles around the tree. "I can fly without a noise when I try hard enough. I’ve been training a lot! – You got me there. Espio really taught you well."
The kid's large, proud smile warmed Shadow's heart like a fireplace in winter. The wind might blow falling leaves across the air, sour memories might linger here and there, but the present was still worth living every second.
"I'll tell Vector you earned your pizza, I guess." the hedgehog said with a nonchalant shrug. "Did I earn a ride on your motorcycle?" Charmy asked excitedly, jumping around. "…definitely not. – But Cream— – Those were special circumstances." Shadow retorted. "And if you keep complaining I'll tell Vector to give you his pickles pizza."
He laughed as the bee feigned a tragic, exaggerated death. And as they joined the others to walk to the Chaotix house and share supper, he once again felt that life on Mobius was beautiful. Worth every fight, every discussion, and every silly game.

Hey, I recently began to read AUs that the Team Seven have their roles swapped. Sakura become apprentice of Jiraiya, Sasuke become apprentice of Tsunade and Naruto become apprentice of Orochimaru. Sakura due the bullying that she suffered in the Ninja Academy, start to dreamed of one day becoming Konoha's Hokage, to earning the respect and recognition from everyone in the village. Sasuke wants to heal, to be able to wash away the blood, the pain that haunts his every waking and sleeping moments because if Itachi are a symbol of death and destruction then Sasuke will never allow himself to be the same, wanting to becoming a symbol of protection and salvation. Naruto goals is to be free and find a place where the village system doesn’t define him, since the village and its people treated him far too harshly over the years with everyone around ostracized him, shunned him and called him monster behind his back for no reason whatsoever besides their assumption that he was the Nine-Tailed Fox. What do you think of the concept? How would this affect the Canon in your opinion?
Well it would affect canon a lot because Sakura doesn’t have special powers to support her throughout (no kyuubi and no sharingan) so all of her work is 100% her’s. No short cuts (Orochimaru gave Sasuke power through experimentation. It was a shortcut)
What i do dislike is the idea of Sakura training under Jiraaiya. I’ll be real the concept of ‘sannin 2.0’ was boring to me. Sasuke is the least like his ‘sensei’ (orochimaru wasn’t a sensei) but he still got the snake summons which i really don’t feel fit him. They fit Anko and Kabuto but not Sasuke, i like the eagle summons better for him.
If Sakura was the one to stay and become Hokage and fight for the village alongside Sasuke, i think she would train under Kakashi. His training showed the most growth in a short amount of time for Naruto (Jiraiya trained him for two years and he didn’t get any real new moves, kakashi trained him for a few days and he made an S rank forbidden jutsu. He would have been better sticking with Kakashi but Tsunade was using Kakashi for endless missions so he couldn’t train his students the same as he was before the chunin exams)
I do like the idea of Sasuke turning his back to everything Itachi told him to do and refusing. Wanting to be someone diffrent and heal instead of harm. That would have been such a cool twist to his character
And Naruto had every right to leave the village so i can see Orochimaru getting to him and conginckng him to leave even after Kakashi tries to talk to him, because no amount of new friends makes up for all the hate and cruelty he put up with his entire life

i know you personally. yet i dont know you at all its so sad...
Naruto (Japanese: NARUTOナルト) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who seeks recognition from his peers and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village. The story is told in two parts – the first set in Naruto's pre-teen years, and the second in his teens. The series is based on two one-shot manga by Kishimoto: Karakuri (1995), which earned Kishimoto an honorable mention in Shueisha's monthly Hop Step Award the following year, and Naruto (1997).
A powerful fox known as the Nine-Tails attacks Konoha, the hidden leaf village in the Land of Fire, one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries in the Ninja World. In response, the leader of Konoha and the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze seals the fox inside the body of his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki, making Naruto a host of the beast;[i] this costs Naruto's father his life, and the Third Hokage returns from retirement to become the leader of Konoha again. Naruto is often scorned by Konoha's villagers for being the host of the Nine-Tails. Due to a decree by the Third Hokage forbidding any mention of these events, Naruto learns nothing about the Nine-Tails until 12 years later, when Mizuki, a renegade ninja, reveals the truth to Naruto. Naruto then defeats Mizuki in combat, earning the respect of his teacher, Iruka Umino.[ii]
Shortly afterward, Naruto becomes a ninja and joins with Sasuke Uchiha, against whom he often competes, and Sakura Haruno, on whom he has a crush, to form Team 7, under an experienced sensei, the elite ninja Kakashi Hatake. Like all the ninja teams from every village, Team 7 completes missions requested by the villagers, ranging from doing chores and being bodyguards to performing assassinations.
After several missions, including a major one in the Land of Waves, Kakashi allows Team 7 to take a ninja exam, enabling them to advance to a higher rank and take on more difficult missions, known as Chunin Exams. During the exams, Orochimaru, a wanted criminal, invades Konoha and kills the Third Hokage for revenge. Jiraiya, one of the three legendary ninjas, declines the title of Fifth Hokage and searches with Naruto for Tsunade whom he chooses to become Fifth Hokage instead.
During the search, it is revealed that Orochimaru wishes to train Sasuke because of his powerful genetic heritage, the Sharingan. [iii] After Sasuke attempts and fails to kill his older brother Itachi[iv], who had showed up in Konoha to kidnap Naruto, he joins Orochimaru, hoping to gain from him the strength needed to kill Itachi. The story takes a turn when Sasuke leaves the village: Tsunade sends a group of ninja, including Naruto, to retrieve Sasuke, but Naruto is unable to persuade or force him to come back. Naruto and Sakura do not give up on Sasuke; Naruto leaves Konoha to receive training from Jiraiya to prepare himself for the next time he encounters Sasuke, while Sakura becomes Tsunade's apprentice. Two and a half years later, Naruto returns from his training with Jiraiya. The Akatsuki starts kidnapping the hosts of the powerful Tailed Beasts. Team 7 and other Leaf ninja fight against them and search for their teammate Sasuke. The Akatsuki succeeds in capturing and extracting seven of the Tailed Beasts, killing all the hosts except Gaara, who is now the Kazekage. Meanwhile, Sasuke betrays Orochimaru and faces Itachi to take revenge. After Itachi dies in battle, Sasuke learns from the Akatsuki founder Tobi that Itachi had been ordered by Konoha's superiors to destroy his clan to prevent a coup; he accepted, on the condition that Sasuke would be spared. Devastated by this revelation, Sasuke joins the Akatsuki to destroy Konoha in revenge. As Konoha ninjas defeat several Akatsuki members, the Akatsuki figurehead leader, Nagato, kills Jiraiya and devastates Konoha, but Naruto defeats and redeems him, earning the village's respect and admiration.
With Nagato's death, Tobi, disguised as Madara Uchiha (one of Konoha's founding fathers), announces that he wants to capture all nine Tailed Beasts to cast an illusion powerful enough to control all humanity and achieve world peace. The leaders of the five ninja villages refuse to help him and instead join forces to confront his faction and allies. That decision results in a Fourth Shinobi World War between the combined armies of the Five Great Countries (known as the Allied Shinobi Forces) and Akatsuki's forces of zombie-like ninjas. The Five Kage try to keep Naruto, unaware of the war, in a secret island turtle near Kumogakure (Hidden Cloud Village), but Naruto finds out and escapes from the island with Killer Bee, the host of the Eight-Tails. At that time, Naruto—along with the help of Killer Bee—gains control of his Tailed Beast and the two of them head for the battlefield.
During the conflict, it is revealed that Tobi is Obito Uchiha and not Madara as he claimed. Obito is a former teammate of Kakashi's who was thought to be dead. The real Madara saved Obito's life, and they have since collaborated. As Sasuke learns the history of Konoha, including the circumstances that led to his clan's downfall, he decides to protect the village and rejoins Naruto and Sakura to thwart Madara and Obito's plans. However, Madara's body ends up possessed by Kaguya Otsutsuki, an ancient princess who intends to subdue all humanity. A reformed Obito sacrifices himself to help Team 7 stop her. Once Kaguya is sealed, Madara dies as well. Sasuke takes advantage of the situation and takes control of all the Tailed Beasts, as he reveals his goal of ending the current village system. Naruto confronts Sasuke to dissuade him from his plan, and after they almost kill each other in a final battle, Sasuke admits defeat and reforms. After the war, Kakashi becomes the Sixth Hokage and pardons Sasuke for his crimes. Years later, Kakashi steps down while Naruto marries Hinata Hyuga and becomes the Seventh Hokage, raising the next generation.

Hi! So I noticed you have more than a few people here who are getting into Naruto, and wanted to give my top 3 fic recs. Unfortionatly I couldn’t narrow it down that much so, here are (in no particular order) my 9 faves! (3x3 keeps it sort of a top 3?)
1. Nine-Tailed Foxes are Dead – Rowlettlesbian
Summary; For Konoha, it's been one month since the preliminary Chunin exams. For Naruto, it's been six. And he wasn't in Konoha.
At the end of his ordeal, Naruto walks into the Chunin Exam finals without his left arm.
Shikamaru is very concerned. And, eventually, very precious to Naruto as they work together to solve the mysteries of Konoha and bring kindness to the Shinobi world, one adventure at a time.
Comment; You know one of those fics that makes you sit up and go WHOA! This. This is it.
2. Soft as an Unready Mind –  BC_Brynn
Summary; Inoichi’s decision to adopt the boy was a spur of the moment thing, but he stood by it, and he could not be prouder of both his children, even if they lived to give him grey hair.
Comment; Funny and feels in equal amounts.
3. Clouded Mind and Heavy Heart –  dawnstruck
Summary; You reap what you sow. Sasuke plants seeds of doubt. Instead of fighting in the Valley of the End, Sasuke convices Naruto to join him.
Comment; Series. Pretty dark, the mindfuck tag is there for a reason.
4. Wolf and cub (Or how small children became the new must have missing nin accessory) –  Dissenter
Summary; A slightly unhinged Kakashi finds two year old Naruto being beaten up, and decides the best course of action is to kidnap him and go on the run. Hilarity ensues. Other ninjas follow Kakashi's example. Zabuza has no idea how he ended up giving all these Konoha ninja parenting classes.
Comment; Incredibly funny. The chaos is abundant as Kakashi give Naruto the childhood he truly deserves.
5. Hiding in the Leaves –  aventria, iluxia
Summary; Fighting a bitter battle against forces within the village that are more influential and well-positioned, Orochimaru finds himself gifted with one last shining opportunity: three children, a team of genin, handed to him because Konoha has no better choice. He agrees to become a jounin-sensei for the first and the last time, taking on the next generation's Team Seven: Uchiha Sasuke, Nara Shikamaru, and Uzumaki Naruto.
Comment; Author has a tendency towards using Japanese words, especially in earlier chapters. I don’t mind too much but I know there are some who dislike it.
6. Flip the Coin – Inrainbowz
Summary; "When you think about it, Sasuke, we could be standing in each other's place right now" Naruto grows up shunned, hated, without support and full of rage. Sasuke grows up determined to step out of his brother's shadow and be recognized for his own merits.
In which Naruto is the one who runs and Sasuke does the chasing.
Comment; First part of an ongoing series. Great for if you want to cry for a while.
7. A political perspective –  MueraRashaye
Summary; Hatake Kakashi was a shinobi, and as a shinobi, the only people who could give him orders were his military superiors. The idea that a Council made up of civilians and peers was under the impression they could give him orders...displeased him. Or: He was ordered to pass Team 7. He was fine with that, until they actually passed.
Comment; The real problem with this fic is that it was last updated in 2018.
8. Ear to the Wall –  Vodkassassin
Summary; The Minato-sensei beams at him, and replies, “Kakashi! I’m glad you’re awake,” and, yup, that’s Minato-sensei’s voice. Kakashi falls back down against the bed, closing his eyes. It’s too short of a way down, and he clenches hands that are too tiny and feeble and not his in dog-print sheets he hasn’t owned for decades.
Comment; Aka the best redeemed Orochimaru you have ever seen and a Kakashi who really needs a hug.
9. Nukenin –  WhisperingDarkness
Summary; In the sealed scroll he finds a Bingo Book – his own page marking him as an S-class nukenin with flee-on-sight orders. “Ok. That is definitely different.” In his head he blames Naruto – even if his number one unpredictable student had been nowhere near him on this mission. When things go this stupidly impossibly wrong it must somehow be the future Hokage’s fault.
Comment; The one thing really wrong with this is that its only 4 chapters long.
excellent recs!

Hey Asa, I recently began to read AUs that the Team Seven have their roles swapped. How would this affect the Canon in your opinion?
ahhhh this is flip the coin, isnt it? ive read this fic before back in 2020, i remember enjoying it a lot. um i personally dislike the idea of sasuke becoming a healer because i like seeing him angry and fighting back against the shinobi system, but each to their own. i loved the direction naruto was going in when i read it. i think canon wise, a lot would be different because the plot of naruto revolves a lot around naruto and sasuke, especially how they approach situations. naruto = forgiveness, second chances. if he's vengeful the entire plot shifts n tbh im all here for it.
