Shadowstep Hello everyone! Today we are going to return to the Brigade and one of its founding members. Her original name concealed and slowly forgotten over the decades, 'Tricky' as she is nowadays known is one of the most skilled and formidable rogues from the old cadre. While most rogues specialize on pure offense, sabotage or crippling of the enemy, Tricky has gravitated towards the opposite. She has become a Bodyguard, a combat specialized rogue who excels at protecting nearby allies and tying the attention of the enemies to themselves while avoiding damage through skillful blade and footwork, and a copious amounts of dirty combat tricks. Tricky is extremely fierce and protective both on the battlefield and in her personal life, having built herself a sizeable, happy family and when not on duty, being known as a passionate chef with a knack for using very unusual ingredients. This is definitely one of the families whose children don't need to fear monsters under the bed and in the closet. At least I don't know of any critter too eager to volunteer becoming the next culinary creation. I have finished this piece a few weeks back, trying to capture the motion and effects of someone who'd be able to step through shadows in combat, it was a fun exercise. I hope you'll enjoy the final result!

Well, these random inked smokes are a result of a bargain with Jeele who is the leader of the aeterna minstrel group (running with the name "Messengers of Fate") not far from Giliad. (More about the guy later, because, oh boy, he is special in my fanfiction :D) To put it simply, she received an extra treat by a ritual, which is basically an inking process mixed with an enchantment. This allows her to "Ghostwalk", or "Mistwalk", or "Shadowstep" (or how the fancy fuckever I wanna call it, still don't know xD). Can't really articulate how it should look like, I'm really bad at this. xD The closest thing i've found that somehow illustrates the thing is: https://geektyrant.com/news/amazing-animated-cinematic-to-the-dd-game-neverwinter Actually it was based on the Ghostwalk ability of Enderal. I just changed the visual effects into black smoke. So maybe for the sake of consistency, I'll call it just like that :D On the flip side, it drains her "magical resources" (which is not much to begin with) and increases blood pressure (nose bleeding when severe) and "arcane fever" (=headaches, dizzyness, nausea) soon after the effect wears off. So she has to use it wisely. Similar to the arcane fever, that can moderately improved by Ambrosia; according to Jeele, the symptoms can be improved by Rhodiola potions. Heck, Maybe i'm gonna have to draw how Rhodiola potions look like - cuz it's rare. She has to make herself, because those are illegal in the Middlerealm white markets. :D

Introducing my new D&D character- Tovna Shadowstep, Silver Dragonborn Drakewarden Ranger, and her half-dead companion Ghost.

Tovna was captured by the dragon cult as a teenager, and the only one of her family to survive their initiation trials. Rather than be broken into loyalty, she instead carried a constant resentment of them, honing the effects she gained in her trials in the Shadowfell to plot her dragon lord’s downfall. She spread word of rebellion throughout the trustworthy members of this branch of the cult, until finally the day to strike came. Tovna was to be the distraction to draw the dragon’s attention while the others got into position- her role was to kill the dragon’s nearly hatched son as he emerged from the egg. But when that time came, using her powers to draw the dragonling out early- she could not strike. Something else came over her- and she grabbed the baby dragon and ran. Without her as distraction, the rest of the rebellion was killed.

Noticing the missing egg, the dragon sent his guards to chase after her, arrows following her escape- until one hit the defenseless dragonling, killing it instantly. The guards fell back in shock and fear, allowing Tovna a window to escape.

She felt responsibility for the creature, as it is what allowed her to finally escape- yet it was also her biggest mistake. She sought out a druids’ shelter she had spared in a past raid, asking them for help. A ritual began, bonding a piece of her soul to the creature, forming the bond of a Drakewarden as the dragon returned to a semblance of life. Seeking shelter, the two traveled along the road, with a conflicted relationship yet stuck together. Thinking to hide with safety in numbers, Tovna sets off on the journey to the largest city in the dragon’s empire- where they’d surely never look, meeting a party of other escapees along the way.

Playing a shadow monk in bg3 is typically so fun except im in the cursed shadowlands and have to have a torch running 24/7 so 2 of the coolest traits are in fact useless to me although to be fair i never used one of them to bwgin with so if anyone has ideas on making the character holding a lantern be highly obscured i would adore them

Omg I have an idea.... reader x az fic where az is sent to recruit any rumored shadowsingers and finds reader hiding from her powers, working a job she only half likes while he's putting on the "are you a talented all hearing shadowsinger?" Presention at the town square. Later while she's closing at the job he finds her, and winter soilder style (the scene with the guy and the milk) asks her why she isn't doing something with herself etc.

little 5am ramble moment ummm because i wanna talk a lil about some EoD stuff with Luis, because while he doesn't do all that much directly w/the story (that's Kalla's business) there IS still some stuff happening with him.

But basically to put it simply, he winds up learning (or really more like just manifesting) some specter fun stuff. Effectively being a specter but with deadeye rifle. WE MULTI TRACK DRIFTING NOW Most importantly of the specter fun stuff is specter shroud, which also REALLY freaks him out when he taps into it the first time. To be fair, he freaked out because his hands became incorporeal and smoky??? Swirling masses of blue and purple shadow??? He's pretty sure that is not how hands are supposed to be?? And it was a very Weird feeling! Felt kinda cold and tingly and numb at the same time! Now he knows what the sensation feels like when he no-clips out of someone's grip, though. Deep down he is a terrified anxious creature so he hates surprises and tends to catastrophize. He does put away the worry that it's void corruption within a few days because it is proven to be unrelated, but still does not put down the worry that something is very wrong with him. (there are many things wrong with him but he's known about those things already for years lol) as to how he keeps developing new things. Well, he's been through a lot and the removal of the Orrian curse had some Interesting surprise effects and unlocked a lot of weird enhanced abilities. Because to break the curse without causing him harm, he was infused with magic to put it simply. also hanging around for various big cataclysmic events where a FUCKTON of magic got released into the world helps. He might have missed most of the dragons but he didn't miss Balthazar getting pasted. No, he helped with that one because things were Personal :') Also got front row seats to Primordus and Jormag (and almost died again, but that's another story)

Also side note! his shadowstep "noclip" abilities are a bit more powerful than in-game stuff. He can take people with him when he noclips so long as he's physically touching them and chooses to do so. It feels a little funky, a little dizzying for whoever he's giving a ride to. This is, however, very draining on Luis too, and causes his illness to flare up due to the strain on his body. TLDR: his alac specter build is Fully Canon now but he also still does a big shooty with his favorite rifle.
