Don't forget to go out and look at the annular solar eclipse tomorrow! ...With proper eclipse-viewing eye protection, of course.
"If you want to know when the next eclipse of the Sun will be, you might try magicians or mystics, but you'll do much better with scientists ... They can routinely predict a solar eclipse, to the minute, a millennium in advance ... Think of how many religions attempt to validate themselves with prophecy ... There isn't a religion on the planet that doesn't long for a comparable ability - precise, and repeatedly demonstrated before committed skeptics - to foretell future events. No other human institution comes close. Is this Worshiping at the altar of science? ... Far from idolatry, this is the means by which we can distinguish the false idols from the real thing."

The Demon Haunted World, Science as a Candle in the Dark
The next Solar Eclipse is happening on Monday April 8th. Many will turn out to watch and even travel hours to see the sun play a bit of hide and seek. I'll be doing a bit of magic, care to join me?
Here are a couple of tips for the witchy ones out there to help better harness the power and magic that a solar eclipse can bring to your work.
Meditation
During the time that an eclipse is taking place its great for meditating. Especially for letting go of any negative situations your dealing with. When the sun reemerges all of those undesirable feelings are over and gone, everything is new.
Now if you cant see the actual eclipse that's ok! Just visualize it. I would recommend setting a timer for when the eclipse should be over so that when the timer goes off-Bing- time to imagine the sun beginning to shine.
Side Tip- Being a reader having what I am meditating on written down is very helpful in keeping me focused.
2. Divination
Be on the look out for important messages. Messages meant for you can be found in a number of ways but are you looking? This is the time witches! Can I tell you a secret? This is totally my shit, I love divination and actually just recently bought a new divination mat for a pendulum I brought in Salem, Ma last October. Maybe Monday will be a good day to break it in what do you guys think?
Also- If you have a question you'd like me to ask, drop it in the comments.
Back to what YOU can do for Mondays main event. If you don't have your own set up. No biggie. Divination is not in everyone's broom closet. Visit your local witchy shop (in person or online) and have a Tarot reading, your palm read or see what else they have to offer!
Because I love divination so much I pulled out one of my favorite magic books - A History Of Magic Witchcraft & The Occult. And it did not fail to give me all the tea. Take a look...
May you all have a wonderful eclipse event no matter what your getting into just don't look directly into the sun- magic or not.
Solar eclipses used to be dreaded by rulers everywhere. They were seen as an omen of downfall, death, or the departure of a monarch. Kings and queens would nervously look up at the sky, fearing the eclipse as the sun was blocked out, plunging the day into darkness.
Today, solar eclipses are interpreted differently. We see and sometimes feel them as a burst of energy, a hidden quality of the sun being revealed as it's momentarily covered by the moon, like a ring of light around the moon.
The idea of a wild impulse becomes very powerful.
Eclipses and Self-Reflection
From a psychological perspective, eclipses are seen as a time for rectification – a chance to check in with yourself and see if you're on the right path. It's a time to ask yourself:
Am I following my life's purpose?
Have I strayed from my course?
Do I need to make changes?
These times may lead to strong emotions being expressed or difficulty with expressing your feelings. You might experience restlessness, sudden urges, or impulses without a clear explanation.
Stay Grounded
If you don't currently have a clear direction, and strong emotions arise during an eclipse, stay calm. Take some time to reflect on what these feelings might be telling you. Trust that these feelings hold importance.
