Bernard: "You're impossibly fast and strong." Tim: "Martial Arts training with Batman, the League of Assassins, an internship with Lady Shiva once on a summer break." Bernard: "Your skin is pale white and ice-cold." Tim: "You try hanging around in a cave seven days a week and still keep a tan." Bernard: "Your eyes change color." Tim: "That's the rotating artists' fault." Bernard: "And sometimes you speak like you're from a different time." Tim: "LOL, n00b." Bernard: "You never eat or drink anything... unless it's, like, coffee or has caffeine in it" Tim: "... I can stop if I want." Bernard: "You don't go out in the sunlight." Tim: "I'm very into PC Gaming." Bernard: "How old are you?" Tim: "... seventeen?" Bernard: "How long have you been 17?" Tim: "Depends on the reboot." Bernard: "I know what you are." Tim: "Say it. Out loud. Say it!" Bernard: "... well, like, you have a lot of aliases, don't you? Robin, Drake, Red Robin, and I guess you are also Batman in an alternate future as well?" Tim: "The fans didn't like it." Bernard: "Yeah, they still want Terry to be canon."

Yeah, I wrote something, and it has been like two months since I`ve started this crossover, and I believe it is good enough to post it out there.
It's both in the Archive of Our Own (Songue85) and FF.net (Songue)!

With ChatGPT's rapid growth since its launch in late 2022 and many other text, graphic and video AI generative services gaining popularity, AI and copyright has become a heatedly debated topic. The U.S. Copyright Office is now seeking public comment to assess the need for legislative or regulatory steps in copyright law issues raised by the rapid development of AI.

Questions for Fic Writers ✏📝💻
@faeriekit tagged...
Tumblr media
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
Only one! Most of mine are all in FF.net, maybe one day I'll post them there, but for now, yeah, single fic.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
Today (10/30/2023), measly 45k, but I'll be posting two chapters this week, so... 50k soon?
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Now, Spider-Man and Batman, but I've mostly published Doctor Who fics, usually crossovers.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Just AO3, that is Arachnomaly. If I include the works in FF.net, then, by favorites, it would be:
5) Maelstrom in the Darkness - An Essay on Blindness: What if Uzumaki Naruto had been incurably blind from birth? Oh, I wish I had time to write more, so many ideas, so LITTLE TIME!
4) Smoke on the Water - The Untold Stories! Based on the popular "Smoke on the Water" story by Sir-Mercutio-McHuffer, who authorized me to publish chapters as a separate, sorta-not-exactly-canon bonus chapters!
3) Different Doctors Meet a Most Unique Universe: after a talk with @zaziecurie , I started writing this collection of short stories about The Doctor in Steven Universe's reality, different takes as his many incarnations (4, 10 and 12 posted, but I had other ideas)
2) Justice-Whimey : formerly my longest fic to date, it's a tie with the first place, The Tenth Doctor is a patient in Arkham Asylum, DC Universe, in an reality-altering adventure;
And at the top
1) ARACHNOMALY! Surprise, two months of posting and it is my most favorite story at the moment at FF.net, though it's always a one chapter behind from AO3's schedule (less than half of its ao3 equivalent in kudos as well).
5. Do you respond to comments?
Sure, always! I don't have too many comments, but what I get, I try to reply on the same day or the following, at most!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
My short story Destiny is Not A Game , in FF.net, based on the finale of the game X-Men: Destiny.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
What is this 'happy ending' people talk about so much?!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Hate in ao3? Maybe... overzealous criticism?
Tumblr media
The worst stuff, as expected, is in the reviews in FF.net, but, again, it's FF.net, so what can you do against great guest reviewers such as...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9. Do you write smut fic? If so, what kind?
Used to, but they are for my wife's eyes only !
10. Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Currently, Spider-Man x Batman comics, but the craziest were my forays into Doctor Whooves stories (my focus, as always, had been more of a whovian than ever a brony, I'll admit)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope! Maybe I'll do it myself for Arachnomaly, one day!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, long time ago, but never published it - it was a crossover with The Idealist 33. Actually, I fibbed, I heavily edited a chapter for their story, Doctor Whooves?, chapter 7, which almost makes it half mine, kinda?
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Oh, wow, let's see, there are so many... NaruHina ? Though I always had a spot for NaruIno? In RWBY, Dragonslayer, just for the fics I've read. Peter Parker x Kitty Pryde, just because of the Ultimate Comics, but PeterxMJ for life.
... and in my writing, yeah, The Doctor (Whooves) and Ditzy Doo.
Tumblr media
... it was a phase, mom.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Well, "Spider-Man Must Not Ruin the Future" is an old project, Spectacular Spider-Man crossover with X-Men: Evolution, trying to integrate both realities in one story.
Also an untitled story where the six original Mighty Morphing Power Rangers get saved by the arrival of Black Dino Thunder Ranger, hilarity and feelings ensue (those who know, will understand the potential!)
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've been told that, when I get the character, I REEALLY get them. Like,
Tumblr media
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
If I feel the chapter needs to be short, it will be short. Sometimes, I can get too concise for my own good.
Also mispeling, but I've been getting better, I think.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm always writing in another language, but I've been venturing on writing a character who communicates mostly in ASL.
Tumblr media
19. First Fandom you wrote for?
Doctor Who!
20. Favorite Fic you’ve written?
Tie for Justice-Whimey , Arachnomaly and Charades 4 6, actually!
And that's all, folks!
Thanks once again to Faeriekit for the tag!
Whoever would like to continue, follower of mine or not, feel free to consider themselves tagged!

Personal recommendation, crossover between The Sandman and Doctor Who. Short and sweet, good characterization, Ten and Morpheus having a... disagreement.

Excerpts:
“ I know there’s been a controversy about the character’s popularity in certain ways and all that and I actually agree with some of the problems.“
“I do not think the police should be using the Punisher icon. The last thing I want my police to identify with is with a violent vigilante. The police are supposed to be part of the balance of power. Enforcing, not to be judge, jury, and executioner.”
Tumblr media
“The last thing I want to see is police cars driving around with a skull emblem on it”
Tumblr media
“Also, even though it’s probably not quite as bad of an objection, I don’t think the military should be using. That skull emblem, strictly related to the military, its biggest connection would be with the SS. And I don’t want our soldiers being associated with the SS.”
“He never kicked back with a beer after a mission accomplished and felt accomplished or anything like that. It was just on to the next one, on to the next one.”
“But once in a blue moon I’d get a letter from someone saying, ‘Oh. I love the Punisher. I want to be just like him.’ And I’d roll my eyes and I’d stop whatever it was I was doing and I’d write them back and explain to them that this is a miserable human being who hardly ever solves any problems.”
“Obviously he’s a man obsessed. It would be one thing for him to avenge his family by killing those directly responsible for their deaths. But why does he go after all criminals?”
“More often than not he just gets involved with or perpetuates or starts ongoing cycles of violence, and he takes no joy in life. Anybody he gets close to is usually not long for this world. Why on earth would you ever want to be like this character?”
“He feels guilty for not being able to protect his own family. He not only needs to avenge them but he needs to be punisher for failing them,”
“He punishes himself by constantly putting himself into dangerous situations when he takes on criminals. This way he cannot lose–either he wins and kills more of the types who killed his family, or he gets killed pays the penalty for failing to protect his own. It’s an odd death wish."
Tumblr media
“This obsession also denies him any real life or relationships. This is also a punishment”

Food and Trumpet
In the large (improvised) outdoor kitchen, Julieta was in her own world. They said food was her Gift. People were half right, though. It was Cooking.
To the Eldest of the Second Generation of Madrigals, Cooking was always magical. Like the alchemists of old, Julieta Madrigal was inspired, even in her young days, to create new recipes, cook up concoctions and brew ingredients together in shapes, colors and aromas completely unique. The fact that her empanadas could heal broken bones was just a consequence, the real magic was in how to make the perfect bread crust to stick, to make sure the aromatic oil was present but never drenching and how to make the best spice blend for the relleño de queso y pollo.
Today the air was filled with sweet and savory aromas, as a couple of young villagers helped out (and learned from) Julieta as she prepared a large thank you meal for all the workers, while the experienced mother stirred a cauldron bubling with a hearty potato-corn sancocho, while also getting the chicharrones cooking along the rice.
She put the ladle aside, pulled some small green twigs from her apron's front pockets, expertly plucking and crushing the mix of leaves and sprinkling the result over the green paste she left on the side, whisking them in. She took the barest sample with a small tasting spoon, gave an approving nod and passed the dish to the oldest of her helper, who was still younger than her niece Dolores. "Gilda", she said in her kind but commanding voice, "good work, the aji is excelent, just felt like it needed more cilantro myself."
Ermenegilda, or Gilda, acquiesced. She was the third child of the Monteros, excellent providers of some really good queso de capa. The young woman was here for the same reason as her elder brothers were, to help the Madrigals, but she would be lying if she wasn't taking the chance to learn as much as she could from the best cook of all the Encanto.
Some of the components for the bandejas paisas were already set on the table, and, as it was fig season, some brevas caladas were at another table, just cooling down before the lunch hour. Gilda almost missed the approaching well suited man, knowing what was about to go down and not wanting to miss a bit.
Julieta felt the hands on her hips and, with practiced ease, let herself go as her husband Agustín spun her in place, charming as the first day they met. She always wondered how someone with so much talent for dancing could be so clumsy in doing anything else.  "Buenos dias, my love, how can I h-", and that was as far as he got, as a wooden spatula hit him lightly on his forehead, a gesture both adorable and threatening. "Mi corazón, I love you with all my heart, but stay away from my kitchen".
He had the decency of flushing, while giving a small laugh, "Oh, mi paz, wouldn't dream of causing any problem, just wanted to h-", the raised spatula made him shut up.
"Perdón, señora", said Julio, her other helper, a teenager just a few weeks older than Camilo and her Mirabel. His pregnancy was a risky one, and Julieta, pregnant herself, always had a time to visit his mother Andira while bringing some buñuelos to help out with the worst side effects of gestation. His birth occured with little problems, and her friend named her son after the Madrigal.
Today, Julio had been put in charge of both keeping the slow boiling of the mondongo soup and watching out for the inevitable visit of Mr. Agustín and his offers of helping. Julieta did not need to add her husband accident-proneness to her list of worries today, bless his heart.
"It's for your own good, mi amor", she said, already pouring some butter on a hot pan for the platanas fritas. "you could always-", she turned, just in time to see the large, conical golden flower.
"To you, my love", he said, his voice doing that charming tone that made her fall in love with him so many years ago. She wondered where was he hiding that before, as she picked it up, and brought it closer to her chest. A kiss on her other hand and her husband left the cook there, enamored and speechless.
The silence was broken by the arrival of her daughter Isabela, who eyed the flower in her mother's hand.
"Mamá, is that an angel's trumpet?!", she asked in concern.
"Hm... maybe? I don't know? It was a gift from you father."
"And also really, really poisonous", Isa warned. "Careful with the sap, that's where the toxin is the strongest."
Of course, "Ay, Agustín...", she said, dropping the present and running to check on her husband's condition.

Ratas Of Unusual Size
The segments bellow were based on  FandomTrashCan ( @lunylune )'s fic, Through the crack in the wall .
The summary is, as follow:
'Mirabel was decently sure this wasn't normal... Most families didn't have an uncle living in the walls. And if they did, surely the parents knew about it? Surely?! But, well, we don't talk about Bruno. So the Madrigal children didn't. It wasn't their fault their parents and grandma were so oblivious. And tio Bruno was nice to them, so they were happy to keep his secret. They didn't talk about Bruno, they talked with Bruno instead.'
Enjoy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
And so, with such high (er than usual) spirits, Bruno allowed himself to be washed by a vision, well, not like the wave of the sea, which he read about, but like the flow of a song, as a reluctant dancer joining the baile.
And that's when he saw them. Once again. He thought that they would subside, attenuate. Uncle and his ratones and ratonas, making such stride forward, but no. Once again, he saw them, even sharper and deeper than before.
The Cracks.
He thought he was fixing them. Oh, but what Irony. Cracks don't get fixed by plaster and nailed boards, they are still there, aggravating. Bruno bent himself and touched the floorboard. Casita was breaking and splitting at the seams, fissures taking root and trembling ever so discreetly under the surface, quietly suffering, under the veneer of a facade of happiness, a wounded animal, still motherly taking care of the Familia, while a catastrophe only Nature could come up with was brewing under its losetas.
And it was about to happen tonight.
Antonio's quinto cumpleaños, his fifth year's gift would herald the foretold decade-long destruction.
An almost quiet 'Oh, miércoles...', left his lips.
(...)
The first to react was, of course, Dolores.
She mentally berated herself, her slight loss of control, which made it obvious to her brother Camilo (the always perceptive Camilo), that she heard something strange.
But who could blame her, that had been the first time she had heard their hidden uncle cursing - ever.
"So...?", Camilo started, not too subtle for the most Gifted Actor Alive.
"So?", returned the sister, lip almost pouting, quick look to the left, where their father was pulling and old vinyl record from his collection.
Camilo followed her look, just a blink faster, and rose his eyebrow, as if insisting.
"Heard some... rat", she told him out loud, and let Camilo do his magic, because, if Camilo was Gifted with the way he could change into others, he had been blessed from birth with the ability of seeing the 'tells' of other peoples. Whatever he saw while looking back at her, he made sure he knew she was lying.
"Ratas? Around the house?", asked their father, dusting off the cover.
"No. Away." A Lie.
"And what was wrong?", Camilo joined.
"It made a strange noise. Just surprised me." Truth.
"Surprised you, mija? Must have been quite a rata, eh?"
Her father looked at her, and, not for the first time, Dolores felt as if he was reading her soul just as easily as she could hear the fruit that just fell down from Hernández' stand - followed by Mr. Hernández' quiet and colourful vocabulary after.
"Huge, papa." Truth.
"Hm", apparently satisfied with what he saw, Félix shrugged and returned to his collection.
Dolores, in her stead, was paying attention to several other things, but mainly to her brother's heartbeat, that just picked. Figures, he would have picked up on her words' hidden meaning.
'Something happened to Uncle'.
Camilo's face fell painfully easy into a blasé expression. "Yeah, papa, I'm gonna... see if Tia Julieta has some postre ready."
"You are going to spoil your appetite, mijo", Félix rose a mocking-disciplinary finger, back still turned to them.
"But you know me, pápa! I'm a growing chico-"
"- and also a shrinking chica-", his father quipped back.
"- and many other things as well", they both finished their own usual routine.
And, if the father had paid any attention, he would have realized his son had left into the wrong direction, instead of the kitchen...
"Now, this, Lola, this, I know you'd like listening to, instead of some-"
... and so did his daughter.
"- rata?"
(...)
"Really? A rat?"
"I could not think of something better!", Dolores half-whispered.
"A 'huge' rat?"
"I was caught by surprise..."
"Well, let's talk about this 'rodent of unusual size' of yours..."
