親パレスチナ投稿のエル・ガジ、マインツと契約解除「罪なき弱者たちの地獄に比べたら…」

マインツは3日、オランダ人FWアンワル・エル・ガジとの契約解除をクラブ公式サイトで発表した。

　現在28歳のエル・ガジはアヤックスやリール、アストン・ヴィラ、PSVなどでのプレーを経て、今夏にフリーでマインツに加入。ここまでブンデスリーガでは3試合に出場し、1アシストを記録していた。

　そんなエル・ガジは先月、自身のインスタグラムのストーリーズでイスラエルとガザの衝突に言及。「片方が水や食料、電力などを奪えばそれは戦争ではない」とパレスチナ寄りの意見を投稿していた。マインツはエル・ガジの投稿が「クラブの価値観と一致しない」として、先月17日より同選手をトレーニングおよび公式戦のメンバーから除外していた。

　両者は度重なる話し合いを通じて和解に至ったとして、マインツは10月30日にエル・ガジの出場停止処分を撤回していた。しかし、すぐに同選手は自身の公式SNSを更新し、「僕は自分の発言を全く後悔していない。ガザで起こっている殺害を終わらせる必要がある」と、主張を曲げることはなかった。

　結局、マインツとの契約解除に至ったエル・ガジは、再び自身の公式SNSを更新。「正しいことのために立ち向かう。それが例え孤立を意味するとしても。僕が生計を失ったことなど、ガザの罪なき弱者たちが味わう地獄に比べたら、どうでも良いことだ。#stopthekilling」と投稿。改めて、自身の立場を明確にした。

　マインツは1905年にユダヤ人のオイゲン・サロモン氏らによって創設されたが、1933年にナチス政権による圧力を受けてサロモン氏ら数人のユダヤ人幹部がクラブから追放された。その後ドイツを去ったサロモン氏は、1942年にアウシュヴィッツ収容所でホロコーストの犠牲となった。2010年にマインツのファン・サポーターによる運動でスタジアムへ続く道路の名称が『オイゲン・サロモン・シュトラーセ』と名付けられるなど、同氏のレガシーは今もクラブに残っている。

I know most, if not all of my follwers are not in the Philippines, but it happened again. Frank Gregorio and Sonya Gregorio has been murdered by another policeman, Jonel Nuezca, who was meant to protect them. This is yet another incident in a long list that our government is doing absolutely nothing about. In fact, Duterte has promised that “he won’t let any police go to jail.” They refuse to wear body cams because, according to Chief Superintendent Joseph Abnol: “our body cams is god himself.”

The video made me sick to my stomach, but for all of those who want to know what happened, the victims, Jonel, and his daughter was involved in an altercation. Things escalated when Jonel’s daughter and Sonya got into a heated argument. His daughter proudly proclaimed: “My father is a policeman.” Sonya replied that she doesn’t care. At that point, Jonel pulls his gun out and says “want me to end you right now?” He then shoots both Sonya and Frank Gregorio point black in front of his daughter.

This has become part of the police culture in the Philippines. There are two other cases against Jonel Nuezca involving homicide, one in May of 2019 and another December 2019. Both were dismissed due to “lack of evidence.” He has killed before and they let him go. The police let loose a murderer because he was one of them. Police brutality should not be part of the Philippines culture, but Duterte’s administration and his willingness to kill has emboldened police like Jonel Nuezca to use their authority as they see fit. Worse is that there’s still people who refuse to hold the police accountable.

They’re now calling it an isolated case.

I know most of the people who sees this will not be Filipino, but please talk about this. Please spread this as far as possible. Don’t let them sweep this under the rug again, because they will. Don’t let them forget that Sonya and Frank has been murdered. That a cop murdered a mother trying to protect his child in order to spoil his daughter. Don’t let them call activists “terrorists” while police are out shooting any unarmed civilian they see.

Makes Me Sick

Ahmaud Arbery. Breonna Taylor. Bothem Jean. George Floyd. And 694 other African-American people killed by police officers since 2017. That’s 698 more people than deserved to die. 698 more people that should be here still, spending more time with the people who loved them. It makes me sick. 

It makes me sick that Ahmaud Arbery was just going for a jog, something I do every. single. morning, when he was shot by two white supremacists who thought that he was trespassing. Even if he had been, trespassing is a misdemeanor and CANNOT warrant a death sentence. 

It makes me sick that Breonna Taylor and Bothem Jean were murdered in their OWN homes. Breonna’s door was kicked in by police officers who had a warrant to search a nearby house and ended up in hers. Even if it hadn’t been her house, she could’ve been there for any number of reasons but they killed her before she could say anything. Bothem Jean was killed in his Dallas apartment by an off-duty cop who thought it was her house. She walked in and shot him, didn’t say anything first, just pulled out her firearm and killed a man in cold blood. On top of that, she hesitated to call the paramedics and didn’t administer ANY life-saving procedures. 

It makes me sick that George Floyd was buying groceries when someone called the police because they ASSUMED he was using counterfeit money. When the police arrived they threw him to the ground while one of them put his knee on George’s neck, not a procedure taught at the academy to restrain someone. The other officers stood their and watched as George shouted that he couldn’t breath and that he thought he was dying, at one point he even called for his mother.

Now there are hundreds of mothers and fathers who buried their children, when in fact, it should have been the other way around. There are mothers and fathers left childless because an officer thought that they had the right to rob families of thier members. There are kids standing at their siblings funeral unable to comprehend the fact that they are NEVER going to see their brother or sister again. And their are ideas which will never be spoken into life because the lungs they should’ve came from aren’t breathing anymore.
