Guys, I’m gonna need the fandom to stop being weird about Phee.
Okay, so, first off, I’m not back. I’m still on break; I just logged in to check on the DMs? Made the mistake of checking the tags, and happened to see some real hot takes about Phee’s line about Tech and wrote this out before my better judgment kicked in. Two things:
1. From a narrative perspective, a NARRATIVE perspective, not a character perspective, a narrative perspective, Phee’s line has the exact same function as every other mention of Tech by the characters and visual reference to him through the season so far. We haven’t seen any single character process Tech’s “death.” And by processing Tech’s death, I mean that we haven’t seen a single character come to terms with it the way we, for example, saw Omega and Tech come to terms with Echo’s departure, or the entire ghost crew come to terms with Kanan’s death in Rebels.
In refusing to show us this, the show refuses to allow the audience to internalize Tech’s death as an actual event that has consequences and is expected to stick. In addition to this, the show pokes at us at least once an episode, whether by a single line or by visual cues, to remind us of Tech’s absence. In so doing, the show refuses to allow the audience to fully let Tech go; this only makes sense from a writing perspective if the absence is temporary and the much needed catharsis after an event like the first five minutes of “Plan 99” is going to come from something other than processing the character’s death—something like letting him come back. Phee’s line is just another one of those jabs reminding us that Tech is absent.
(Before anyone comes in here saying that they’re probably mourning Tech off-screen: They probably are. That’s not the point. The point is that there is purpose in what writers choose to emphasize. They have had plenty of opportunity to show us Omega or someone coming to terms with what happened, and plenty of time to do even more than that, because not only are they willing to stop for emotional moments—half the season so far has been Crosshair’s extended emotional moment and catharsis from two seasons of buildup. I’m actually not willing to argue about this at this point.)
2. The way Phee talks here is the way that every character has been talking about Tech the whole season. She’s not unique. The Tech mentions have largely been informative and impersonal—just enough to hurt, not enough to derail a conversation. The emphasis has not been on the loss of him as a person, but instead on his absence and how that makes life difficult. Once again, from a narrative perspective, this is because getting personal with the Tech mentions leads directly into the characters actually processing their loss; and since the show is not allowing that processing to happen since it’s almost definitely bringing him back, the little, slightly impersonal mention once an episode is as far as it can go in bringing Tech up. And since it doesn’t want us to forget about him either, that’s what we end up with. It’s not bad just because Phee did it too now.
3. From a character perspective generally speaking (of the whole cast), the way the mentions work reads to me as ambiguous grief. Remember that Hunter and co. never recovered a body, never really saw any evidence, and don’t really know what happened to Tech in the end. And, speaking from personal experience, not knowing can be emotionally paralyzing and can leave you incapable of processing your loss, because you don’t know if it’s a loss or not. They come across to me as stuck and unable to to anything that we see besides noting that he’s not there. He’s gone, they don’t know where he is; he might be dead, and he might not.
4. And, speaking of Phee specifically: Phee’s mention of Tech wasn’t overtly sad, but neither was Omega’s mention of Tech back in “Shadow’s of Tantiss.” Not everyone cries every time they bring up someone they lost. I don’t. Don’t expect everyone to outwardly react the way you want them too, please.
And, frankly (this IS a hill I will die on) Phee brought Tech up out of nowhere. They weren’t talking about him. She brought him up completely unprompted in an unrelated conversation, meaning he’s on her mind, meaning that, no, she’s not over it.
PS: Do not come into my notes and bring up Fives and the lack of Fives discussion in TBB. I love Fives, I love the domino twins, but Fives was a secondary character on a completely different show with a completely different kind of narrative structure. Not bringing him up in this show is not the same as not allowing the characters or audience to process the happened to Tech.
PPS: I’m sorry if I sound salty in this. I am. This isn’t really directed at anyone I follow or interact with on her, or really anyone who follows me; this is directed at certain parts of the larger fandom that are kind of exhausting.
PPPS: If anyone comes into this post to call me delusional for still thinking Tech is coming back because that’s literally what they’ve set up on screen, they’re getting instablocked.
PPPPS: Don’t @ the cast and crew on Twitter, guys. Just don’t. Think about what they’re doing and what you’re doing, and don’t.

Look, I love Kanan Jarrus, I literally named this blog after him. I loved his relationship with Ezra and I AM glad that there was significant mention of Kanan from Ezra.
But.
I hate that Ezra's new lightsaber ended up just... a copy of Kanan's, both in its emitter and its color.
It's lazy. And it's so insulting to just... let Ezra make himself a new one and he just COPIES Kanan's rather than being able to make a saber that was uniquely his and spoke to the person he has become after everything he's been through, from losing Kanan to having to sacrifice himself to surviving Thrawn to spending so long on his own.
Ezra could have had a purple lightsaber, the first live action Jedi since Mace Windu to be given one, which allows him to stand out against Sabine and emphasizes that connection to his lineage through Kanan without being an exact copy of someone else's.
Or Ezra could've had white. This could've been an interesting and meaningful way of actually explaining the white sabers in mainstream Star Wars. Most casual viewers are going to have NO IDEA that the white sabers are "healed" crystals from red sabers. That lore is lost on people who aren't deep in this fandom. Ahsoka just wanders around with white sabers because... it's unique and it makes her look cool. No one's stopped in any of the shows she's been in so far to explain what they are or why she has them. (Yes, I know it came from the book but again, not EVERYONE has read the damn book and if they're going to use that particular piece of worldbuilding in the shows, I feel like they could go to the effort of explaining it on the shows, too.)
Ezra could've found a crystal somewhere on Peridea that had been corrupted by the dark forces of the Nightsisters that permeate the planet (which would also add to the lore of the planet just a little and actually connect it to the Nightsisters better given that it's apparently THEIR homeworld). Maybe he could feel just how broken it was and he could see that it was either red or a really sickly witchy green color and even though the darkness in it repulsed him, the crystal also called to him, so he took it and has been fiddling around with it ever since, for years. Over time, it started to lose its sickly red or green color and became a pure white, but he'd never been able to acquire the right parts to actually make a new saber, so he'd just been carrying around the crystal for a while.
Or Ezra could've used some cool Force powers to yoink away Shin's saber from her during the fight with the bandits and when either Sabine or Ahsoka suggests he keep it since he refuses to take his old one back from Sabine, he says that it just feels... wrong. Something about it feels dark and full of pain and anger. And Ahsoka can explain how she was able to heal the crystals in her own saber so that Ezra is able to do something similar.
Literally anything OTHER than just giving Ezra Kanan's saber recreated would've been more interesting and said something new about Ezra's character and how he's grown and changed.
But nope. They couldn't be bothered to come up with a new design, so he just gets Kanan's saber now. How inspired.

The last episode of Ahsoka-
Literally- blow my mind- I had to stand up at least 3 times cause I was just so ???!!!!! !?!?!?!?!?!?!!??
Words can’t describe
The feeling that felt - xD
YEAH IM GONNA GO INSANE UNDER THE CUT ONE SECOND:
BITING THE FUCKING DRYWALL. BITING THE DRYWALL GNAWING CLAWING AND EATING IT. IM JUST. WHEN THE STAR WARS IS GOOD!! WHEN THE FANSERVICE ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE!!!! LIKE YES WE GOT TO SEE TCW ANAKIN AND TCW AHSOKA IN LIVE ACTION BUT IT ALSO ADDED TO THE STORY AND GAVE US CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR AHSOKA AND SAID YEAH, THE FUN TONE OF CLONE WARS WAS BC THE CHARACTERS COULDN'T DEAL WITH IT ANY OTHER WAY. THEY WERE PEACEKEEPERS AND CHILD SOLDIERS WATCHING FRIENDS DIE ON THE DAILY AND IF THEY DIDNT JOKE THEN THE GRIEF WOULD TAKE OVER. AND THEY DONT SEE THAT IN THE MOMENT BUT ADULT AHSOKA REALISES HOW STRANGE IT IS
AND YEAH HAVING HER PLAYED BY A CHILD (also wow ariana greenblatt does such a good job i literally cant not imagine her when i think of babysoka now) RLLY DRIVES HOME HOW YOUNG SHE WAS. HOW FUCKED UP IT WAS. BUT ALSO WHAT THE CONSEQUENCES OF WAR ARE!! ALL THIS SAID WHILE FORCE SENSITIVE CHILD JACEN'S SO HEAVILY IN THIS EPISODE. AND W THE KANAN MENTION!!!! LIKE ITS POINTING OUT LOOK THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IN WAR AND IF AHSOKA DOESN'T END THIS THEN JACEN WILL HAVE TO BE LIKE HER AND HIS FATHER AND I AM ONCE AGAIN BITING AT THE DRYWALL. IT DIDNT JUST GIVE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IT GRABS YOU BY THE FACE AND SAYS THE RETURN OF THE EMPIRE IS SERIOUS. WAR IS SERIOUS. ITS NOT THE CARTOON YOU GREW UP WITH.
AND ALL OF ANAKIN JUST GESTURES TO ALL OF THAT. HAYDEN SLAYED SERVED CUNT THROUGHOUT HE'S SUCH A GREAT ANAKIN NOW HE HAD SO MUCH RANGE TO THE CHARACTER AND THE FLICKERING ANIVADER AND RED LIGHTSABER. HE'S BOTH AT ONCE AND AHSOKA HAS TO ACCEPT THIS AND IM EATING DRYWALL AGAIN.
calming down for 2 seconds the cinematography was great this episode and the pacing was a definite improvement from ep1, which filoni also directed! this played into his directing strengths a lot better w the action and emotion. i won't lie i'm still not sold on the show as a whole i do think eps 1-3 were okay i guess, 4 was a step up and 5 is like. wow ok go girl. also the way they used anivader in this episode made me rlly sad for the kenobi show bc that show should've been smthn like this, using him as a vision for obi-wan's development instead of the villain of the show bc thats a tired fight but hey! this is abt ahsoka not kenobi i digress. SPEAKING OF loved how it was actually ABOUT the titular character for once. anyway. going insane. i don't have too much faith the show can keep this up but i'll be happy if it can reach smthn close to this as it goes on

Here For You Now
It took Ezra a moment to figure out why he'd fallen asleep on the floor, less than a foot away from his bed. He would've totally assumed that he'd fallen off the bed in his sleep again (it was less than a foot's drop; he'd slept through it before,) but the pile of blankets underneath him told him this was definitely intentional. He couldn't quite piece together why he would've done something like this though— until he heard a murmured whisper coming from the bed, a voice he almost thought he was just imagining again, until he remembered that yesterday was the day he'd spent over a decade waiting for.
 Sabine had found him.
And, since his trailer offered little in the way of comfort, he'd let Sabine take the bed and offered to sleep on the floor instead. Good hospitality, he'd called it, something he'd learned well from the Noti, and also a way to say "thank you" for coming all this way just to bring him home. (And in actuality, he'd never make his favorite person in this [and any] galaxy sleep on the floor— and also he knew he'd irreversibly stumble over his words if he suggested they try to share the bed.)
But despite being on the floor and definitely sore from it, it was one of the best wakeups he'd had in years— certainly the one that ushered in the most hope along with it.
Though he'd never lost faith in Sabine, hope had been in short supply the past year or so— that is, until yesterday, when the Noti had told him that they found a girl ("your girl," their language put it, and he was too ecstatic to disagree) and she'd come to the camp looking for him. He'd never thought she'd looked more beautiful than she did when she saw him, and gave him a smile that conveyed the same genuine joy and total disbelief he was feeling.
And now he woke up knowing she was here, and it wasn't another stupid dream about her return: she was on Perida, actually with him, quietly chanting something in Mando'a.
"Ni su'cuyi gar kyr'adyc, ni partayli, gar darasuum."
Ezra wasn't sure what she was mumbling about, but it felt almost like some kind of meditation, or a prayer. His interest was piqued when he heard the next two words, and he looked up to see her sitting cross legged with her eyes closed.
"Kanan Jarrus. Ursa Wren. Alrich Wren. Tristan Wren. Ahsoka Tano. Ni su'cuyi gar kyr'adyc, ni partayli, gar darasuum."
Sabine sighed, and there was a moment of silence.
"What's that?" Ezra asked, once he was sure she'd finished.
"Ah-wha?" Sabine started, apparently not having known Ezra was even awake "it's nothing. Just an old Mandalorian tradition. I didn't mean to wake you up. Did you sleep alright?"
"What kind of old Mandalorian tradition?" Ezra asked, completely disregarding her attempts to divert the conversation.
 "Nothing," Sabine shook her head.
"Didn't seem like nothing to you."
"Well, it's nothing that matters to you," Sabine said.
"Everything you…" Ezra stopped mid-sentence, knowing that if he said "everything you say maters to me," she might start to think he had feelings for her— which he did, but he was pretty sure she still didn't feel the same way, and he didn't want to run the risk of scaring off his only ride back home. So, he switched trains of thought.
"You mentioned Kanan," Ezra shook his head.
Sabine looked at him, and in her eyes he saw the softness and pain she was trying all too well to hide. He smiled slightly, nodded slightly, raised his eyebrows slightly, tried to remind her with merely a look that her secrets were safe with him.
 Sabine sighed.
"It's a remembrance," she offered, "'I am alive, but you are dead.'" she shook her head as she choked out the words, "'I remember you, so you are eternal.'"
Ezra smiled a little at the sentiment, at keeping the memory of someone alive long after they're gone— but then he realized that the names of her family were included in that list.
"You mentioned your family too," Ezra said, quietly, "Are they…?"
 Sabine nodded, "they're gone."
 "And Ahsoka?"
"I think so," she said, the words petering out as a single breath.
Ezra thought he saw a tear trickle down her cheek as she looked away from him. He didn't fight the urge to climb up onto the bed next to her and wrap an arm around her for comfort. He realized after he did so that he'd taken a gamble, and she was likely to be annoyed by his attempt to comfort her, so he was surprised when, instead of twisting away from him, she actually leaned closer, accepting the shoulder he gave her to cry on.
"I'm so sorry, Sabine," Ezra whispered, with no idea what other words he could even offer.
"There's nothing you could've done," Sabine said, "there's nothing anyone could've done."
Ezra remembered thinking the same thing when the empire took his parents, that there was nothing anyone could've done to help him— but that didn't mean he didn't want anyone to.
"I could've been there for you," Ezra shook his head, "I should've been there for you. Kriff, I've missed out on so much."
Sabine lifted her head off his shoulder and looked up at him.
"But I am here for you now," Ezra said, letting go of her and resting his hand on the bed behind her, "if you wanna talk about it at all."
Sabine shook her head and looked away.
"I don't wanna talk about it."
"Alright," Ezra nodded, "is there anything I can do?"
"Could you just sit here with me?" Sabine asked.
 "Absolutely," Ezra smiled.
They treasured a moment's silence, before Sabine leaned a little closer, resting her head on his arm again. She glanced up at him as a smile crossed his face, and he rested his head on top of hers.
Maybe he hadn't been there for her for the last few years. Maybe there were a lot of moments she'd needed him that he missed out on.
But this moment? It wasn't going to be one of them— he was here for her now, and that's what mattered.
And he wasn't going to stop being there for her ever again.

I was thinking about Rex from Star wars and came up with a theory/Headcanon about him and his relationship with Ezra Bridger.
In the last season of Clone Wars, it is more or less implicit (or rather confirmed) that Rex knows about Anakin and Padme's relationship.
This is quite important because it makes it clear that perhaps he knew which Padme was pregnant with and logically intuited that the father of Padme's baby/babies was Anakin.
In Tales of the Jedi, Ahsoka goes to Padme's funeral and the one who takes her is Rex (maybe I'm wrong) so at least Rex knows that Padme is dead and believes that Padme's children are too.
The point I'm getting at is that Rex was very fond of Anakin and to some extent probably hoped (my Headcanon) would meet any children Anakin would have.
Now we come to rebels, in the series when Rex meets Ezra it seems that he has a special affection for him and it could be the fact that he worked with Jedis when he was young and perhaps Ezra reminds him of several padawans (AKA Ahsoka) which he came to know during the Clone Wars.
This is where my theory comes in:
Rex is nostalgic and this is noticeable in Rebels because several times he usually mentions the “old days”, that is, the Clone Wars, especially when it comes to teamwork with Kanan or Ezra.
But the difference between how Kanan treats Ezra is noticeable: He treats Kanan like a general (much to the chagrin of Kanan himself), while he treats Ezra in a more parental way.
This is the series is taken as a joke as something that makes the rivalry that Kanan and Rex have more noticeable. But in my perception Rex treats Ezra so affectionately, so paternally because he sees him as a nephew (to put it in some way) or as the son that Anakin never had (it must also be made clear that Rex never knew that Anakin had a son or at least he doesn't know it during Rebels).
Let me explain: Rex has long thought and probably sworn that Anakin is dead. So it's a little painful for him. When he first appears in Rebels, he has spent years on a more or less deserted planet spending time with his clone brothers and suddenly a group appears where there are two Jedi and there is just a Padawan who is the same age (almost perfectly) as him. his friend's son would have, so he almost instinctively begins to project what Anakin's son would be like on Ezra.
So this just adds a layer of tragic to their relationship but that can be done because I love this type of Headcanons.

For your prompts requests, how about some Cal and Kanan as padawans together? Or even meeting again as adults..whichever sparks your muse.
I think Kanan is a little older, but that doesn't necessarily translate as they would not be friends as kids. I just love his sort of harder sarcasm balanced against Cal's sweeter nature.
Thank you for the request! I'm sorry this took so long and I thank you for your patience. I hope it's what you were looking for! 💜

Dividers by @eloquentmoon
Cal twiddled with his padawan braid as he watched the traffic fly by outside the large window. Wanting to find a place where he could think without being disturbed, he had climbed up here to this window ledge. If his master looked hard enough, he would find him, so he wasn’t worried about someone thinking he was missing. Although, Cal wasn’t sure if anyone would notice if he did go missing.
With the war raging across the galaxy, it seemed there were always more important things. He knew his master had been hesitant to take him on as a padawan in the middle of the war, and sometimes Cal wondered if that caution should have been headed. He would have been fine to wait in the crechè for a while longer if it meant he could have a master that would be able to designate more time to him.
Master Tapal had mentioned bringing him along on missions, in order to continue his training in the field, but once again he had hesitated. Cal knew he was younger than most human apprentices, and even those older than him had been kept back from the war as long as possible. One in particular he knew about was Caleb Dume. He was only a little older than Cal himself was, but he had just started going on missions with his master, Depa Billaba.
Cal both envied the other boy and had pity for him. He knew deep down that they all belonged at the temple, playing and learning with their fellow students. One of the crechè masters had said something along the lines of “being forced to grow up too fast”, but he figured that was part of life sometimes.
“What are you doing up there?” a voice from below asked.
Cal looked down and saw the very boy he had just been thinking of, as if he had been summoned by his thoughts.
“Just thinking,” he responded, turning his attention back to the window. “This seemed like the best place to do so.”
“Is there room for me up there?”
Cal gestured to the other side of the large window ledge, offering the space to the boy below. After a few moments of contemplation on his route, Caleb seemed to find the way up to him and was soon clambering up onto the ledge to settle in the designated empty spot.
“What are you doing out and about?” Cal asked. “Shouldn’t you be training with your master?”
Caleb shrugged and fiddled with a loose thread on his tunic.
“She’s busy right now, so she sent me to go do my own thing. I was on my way to the library when I noticed you were up here.”
“My master is busy too,” Cal said, letting out a heavy sigh. “He’s always busy.”
Caleb gave him a look of pity, which Cal wasn’t sure he appreciated.
“I know it sounds like I’m whining. I just wish this stupid war would be over so things can go back to normal.”
“I think everyone wishes that,” Caleb said. “It would have been even better if it had never started in the first place.”
Cal couldn’t argue with that. Maybe he would still be in the crechè. Although, he wondered if that meant he wouldn’t have met Master Tapal. He had heard there was a connection between masters and padawans that existed even before they started training together, so perhaps he would have ended up with him anyways. He also knew there were much bigger problems than where his training would have gone.
“I don’t understand why there needs to be so much violence over something as stupid as political disagreements,” Cal said. “Why should people’s different views be a reason to hurt innocent people and drag the entire galaxy into a devastating war?”
Caleb shrugged again and looked out the window at the passing traffic.
“I think it’s a lot more complicated than that. Something that we as padawans are too young and inexperienced to understand.”
“I’m told that I’m too young to understand a lot of things,” Cal said.
Caleb smiled and turned back towards him.
“That’s why we gotta learn what we can so we can understand the things grown-ups think we don’t. They won’t always be around to help us, so we have to learn to fend for ourselves if the situation calls for it.”
Cal shuddered at the thought of dealing with anything serious on his own without his master there to guide him. While he knew it was an inevitable part of life, he wasn’t in a hurry to get to that point. It seemed that his alone time for thinking had taken him down a path that he wasn’t interested in exploring right now.
“You wanna go get some treats from the mess?” he asked. “I’m tired of sitting up here and I’m hungry.”
“Sure!” Caleb said, shifting in place so his legs dangled over the edge. “I’m hungry too.”
The two boys jumped from the ledge, using the force to slow their descent towards the floor. Cal had to admit that Caleb was better at it than he was, his landing a lot smoother and without stumbling. The pair of them walked off down the hall, sharing what kind of treats they hoped to find in the mess when they arrived.
Tumblr media
Kanan picked his way through the market, his eyes flicking from face to face. He always had to have his guard up when he was on a new planet, never knowing who he might run into. He doubted there were many people that would recognize him, but you could never be too careful. He had argued with Hera about which of them should go out to get the supplies, an argument that he had lost when she said she had some repairs to make on the Ghost. Which was how he found himself in his current location.
As he perused the goods in the stands he passed, Kanan made sure to keep one eye on the crowd around him. He stopped at one stand that was selling meilooruns, checking their price. Maybe if he brought a few back for Hera, she would soften up a bit more. He knew she liked them. Just as he was about to ask the owner of the stand to help him, he noticed someone in the crowd.
A tall man with a shock of red hair was pushing through the crowd a short distance from him. A long scar ran down his face onto his neck. Overall, he seemed a bit worse for wear. A look that Kanan recognized from his stints in that same position. Something about the man seemed familiar to him, something he couldn’t quite figure out.
Do I know him?”
Kanan wiped that thought from his mind as soon as it appeared. He didn’t know anyone. Everyone he once knew was gone. His master, the order, and all of his friends. The man he had noticed turned to look at him and their eyes met for a moment before the other man turned away, shaking his head.
Does he know me?
Kanan felt a surge of hope swell up in his chest as he looked at the man again. Red hair, freckles, familiar features. He was transported to a time in his memories when he knew a kid with similar qualities, a fellow padawan. Cal Kestis.
It can’t be him. He’s dead.
Kanan squashed the flicker of hope down and turned his attention back to the fruit stand in front of him. He didn’t dare let his heart run away with the hope that there were more survivors, that some of his friends may have made it out. Hoping was dangerous. There was no way Cal could have survived what had happened at the end of the war, he had only been a kid.
So were you.
Passing over some credits, Kanan grabbed the bag of fruit from the vendor and walked in the opposite direction from where he had seen the red haired man standing. It was better to just walk away and forget about the whole thing.
Tumblr media
Cal bounced in his seat as the Mantis entered the orbit of Yavin 4. He was anxious to meet the members of the Rebellion that he had heard so much about. Especially the Spectres of Phoenix Squadron. He had heard rumors that there was a pair of Jedi among the group, a master and apprentice.
“Kid, would you quit?” Greez grumbled beside him. “You’re practically vibrating.”
“He’s excited. Which is understandable,” Merrin said, coming up behind him and placing a calming hand on his shoulder. “Greez is right though, Cal. You really are vibrating.”
Cal gave her a small smile and placed his hand over hers on his shoulder.
“It’s not everyday you find another survivor,” he said. “I’ve been hearing so many rumors and I’m anxious to know if there’s any truth to them.”
“I understand,” Merrin said. “If I knew that any of my sisters were still out there, I would do anything I could to reunite with them.”
Cal squeezed her hand before releasing his grip and reaching forward to help Greez complete the landing cycle. Once the ship was settled, he took a deep breath and stood from his seat, walking out of the cockpit. BD-1 beeped inquisitively from the holotable, checking if he was alright.
“I’m fine BD, just nervous.”
The droid jumped off the table and landed on Cal’s back securing a grip on his shirt. The door opened as the ramp extended down to the ground. As Cal walked down the ramp, he could see several figures waiting for him. A green-skinned Twi’lek stepped forward, extending a hand for him to shake.
“Welcome Cal Kestis. It’s good to finally meet you,” she said. “My name is Hera Syndulla.”
Cal shook her offered hand and nodded in greeting.
“It’s nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about your squad and the good you’ve done against the Empire.”
Hera raised an eyebrow at his words, obviously surprised to hear them.
“Really? I wouldn’t think Saw would have anything good to say about us. He doesn’t really agree with the way we do things.”
“He can be a little difficult to get along with sometimes,” Cal agreed. “But he spoke highly of some of your crew, specifically a pair of Jedi. I was hoping to meet them.”
Hera gave him a small smile and gestured for him to follow her across the landing zone. As the pair of them walked together, Cal noticed that Hera seemed a bit nervous herself.
“I didn’t tell them you were coming,” she said. “I wanted to make sure you were the real thing before I got Kanan’s hopes up. He’s been looking for other surviving Jedi for so long and I didn’t want him to be disappointed.”
Cal understood what she meant about having hope and then having it be destroyed. He had followed many leads to only have them end in disappointment and grief. He had been ready to give up on his mission to find other Jedi, thinking that it was impossible for him to come across any other survivors at this point. But when Saw had said he knew these Jedi personally and that they were the real deal, he had resigned himself to one last truth searching trip.
“Here we are,” Hera said, leading him to a small area surrounded by large crates.
A group of people sat around talking; an older man, a man with a ponytail and mask, a young woman that looked to be wearing Mandalorian armor, a young man in orange, and to Cal’s great surprise, a Lasat. The sight of the Lasat caused Cal’s heart to clench in his chest. Although he had long ago come to terms with his grief for his master, there was always something that could bring back the pain in small amounts.
“Everyone, I’d like you to meet a very special guest,” Hera said. “This is Cal Kestis. He’s a purge survivor and has been fighting alongside Saw and his band of fighters for the past few years.”
Everyone but the man in the mask gave Cal a wave in greeting. He returned their hellos with a polite nod to each person, but when he got to the last man, he was surprised to find him reaching for him. Cal took the man’s offered hand, which clutched at his own with strength he was not expecting.
“Cal? Is that really you?” the man asked. “You’re alive?”
“As far as I know, but I do have a friend that can bring back the dead. She could have done something like that without telling me,” Cal joked, trying to ease the tension surrounding them.
The man before him reached up and pulled the mask from his face, revealed clouded eyes slashed through with an angry red mark. Something about his face seemed familiar to Cal, but he couldn’t put a finger on it.
“Kanan?” Hera called out softly. “Do you know him?”
Cal couldn’t remember knowing anyone named Kanan. He reached out with the force to touch the other man’s mind. It was both foreign and familiar to him, like someone he had once known but had gone through much change and heartache.
“I used to be called Caleb,” the man Hera had addressed as Kanan said. “Caleb Dume.”
Cal felt all the air leave his lungs. Never in all these years had he thought that his friend could still be alive. In his search, he had found a record of Master Billaba’s death and had assumed that Caleb had died along with her on Kaller.
“Caleb…you’re alive?”
The man nodded, a smile forming on his lips. Before he could stop himself, Cal surged forward and wrapped his arms around his childhood friend, holding him tightly against him. To his surprise, his embrace was returned. The two of them stood locked in their embrace for a few moments before Cal pulled away to look at him again.
“You know, I think I saw you a number of years ago in a market,” Kanan said. “I couldn’t let myself believe it was you at the time so I walked away. I didn’t think you were still alive.”
Cal thought back to a similar experience he had been through. He had been in a market once and had a strange encounter with a man across the crowd. He had assumed the man had recognized him from his wanted posters and quickly left the scene. He had buried the feeling that he knew the man deep inside himself, focusing on getting away from the market and the danger it presented.
“That was you,” he said. “I remember that day. I thought you were going to turn me in.”
Kanan laughed softly and shook his head.
“Two Jedi find each other and the first thing we do is run away.”
“Oh how times have changed,” Cal said. “But I have no intention of running away this time.”
Kanan placed a hand on Cal’s shoulder and gave it a squeeze.
“That’s good to hear. I have many things to tell you.”
Cal laughed at that statement.
“As do I. You wouldn’t believe the things I’ve been through the past few years.”
Kanan led Cal over to a box to sit down before gesturing to the people around them, formally introducing them to him. He called over the younger man in orange, presenting him as his padawan, Ezra Bridger.
As the group talked about their experiences, Cal couldn’t help but to think about his own crew from the Mantis. This group seemed to have a similar sense of family and companionship that he had experienced with Merrin, Greez, BD-1, and Cere. He was glad that Caleb, or Kanan as he was now known as, hadn’t been alone for all the years they were apart. And now that they had found one another, neither one of them would be alone again.

According to the latest Star Wars Chronology, the years 9 ABY to 19 ABY are called the “Peace of the New Republic.”
It is likely that the Ahsoka series and its sequels and crossovers all take place in this time period, which means
1. Lucasfilm will have to retcon this chronology because Thrawn starts another galactic war.
or
2. Thrawn finds out that the Emperor he once served is dead and the Empire has fallen, so he goes home to the Chiss Ascendancy in the Unknown Regions.
and/or
3. The Nightmothers were just using Thrawn to get to Dathomir, just as Thrawn was using them to get back home to the main SW galaxy. Now that the witches have achieved their goal, they will betray Thrawn and/or he will betray them.
and/or
4. There will be an effort by the heroes of The Mandalorian, the Ahsoka show, and other members of the Ghost Crew to stop a war. There will be an armed conflict with little or no help from the New Republic, and the brave unsung heroes save the galaxy from a bigger war that could have happened but didn’t.
Likely character deaths or transformations: Thrawn. Ahsoka.
Possible romance arcs completed: DinBo, Sabezra.
Cultures reborn/transformed: Nightsisters, Mandalorians, Jedi.
New Master and Apprentice pairings: Sabine and Grogu, Ezra and Jacen.
These are the “Jedi Mandalorians.” (Yes, I have been thinking about this for a very long time. Look at my username.)
Mando by birth: Sabine Wren, who restores her Clan.
Mando by adoption: Grogu.
Mando by marriage: Ezra Bridger. 😏
What do you think? What are the other possibilities?
Am I crazy? Here’s my Ahsoka Season 1 Bingo card:
Tumblr media
Tolkien references (too many to list here)
Jacen is Force sensitive.
Sabine misses Ezra. 😢
Thrawn does the unexpected.
Kanan reference (more than expected). 😢
Chopper is a menace (not as much as he could have been).
Hera misses Kanan (his photo is on her dashboard). 😢
“Snips” 🙌
Anakin flashback. 🙌
Rex lives. (They didn’t kill him off yet and we did get a cameo so that’s a win.)
Quotable Huyang (Don’t get me started.)
Ezra is still a dork (and we love him for it). 😂
Ezra is a badass. 🙌
Sabezra tease. (Just go look at the rest of my Tumblr.) 😍
Mutual pining idiots. (See above.) 😍
Clan Wren. (We got a mention. R. I. P. 😢)
Sabine painting. (We saw the mural, the loth cat doodles and the graffiti in Ezra’s tower and on Ahsoka’s ship.)
No Fenn Rau. (I still want to see him in live action, maybe in Mando s4.)
Clone Wars Flashback. (More than one!)
No Rebels flashback. (We did get many callbacks though. I’d love to see any of them cameo in Andor s2.)
Loth rat. (Not the animal, but Ezra being his usual chaotic streetwise self, such as impersonating a stormtrooper and stealing his helmet and armor.)
Loth cat. (Sabine’s adorable pet. 😻)
Loth wolf. (They are on the end credits star map and the Lothal Rebels mural. Howlers are also wolf-like.)
Run. (Our heroes did a lot of that.)
*******
So am I good, or what?
The Prophet of the Church of Ezrabine has spoken.

More Kallus headcanons because I can
His facial hair is absurdly strong; if he shaves in the morning, he’ll have noticeable stubble by the evening. In order to maintain his clean Imperial look, he tends to shave twice a day.
For all his war experience, his mind is actually surprisingly innocent in the sense of not dirty at all. Once he joins the Rebellion, the Ghost crew has a field day with this, and it becomes a running game between Ezra and Sabine (and Kanan and Hera, though they pretend otherwise) to make the most obvious innuendos that still fly right over his head. They’re usually about Zeb, who does recognise them for what it is, but is forced to keep quiet for his own and Kallus’s peace of mind.
Because of his preference of field work and taking direct command over the soldiers he leads, people tend to forget his seniority in Imperial ranks, and it’s often a shock to those around him when he pulls rank on them because he doesn’t do it often, preferring to let the admirals and governors squabble over bureaucracy while he gets actual results by getting his hands dirty.
This has gained him a lot of respect from low-level officers, who are not used to be looked at twice by someone of any significant rank, much less to have them lead in front. Senior officers however sometimes resent him for it; Admiral Konstantine for instance saw it as personal humiliation when Kallus pulled rank on him after he had gotten a bit too comfortable ordering the agent around.
When he joined the Rebellion, Rebel Command was stymied on what to do with him in the military. Considering his background as a defector, not to mention the war crimes he has committed, they couldn’t exactly have him start out in any sort of commanding position, but with his battle experience and strategic brilliance he had the capabilities the Rebellion desperately needed at its top. In the end the decision was made to have him become the Rebellion’s Thrawn: put in a relatively low position with all intention of having him shoot up quickly.
For all his commanding brilliance, he is a terrible instructor. He has no patience with the average minds of the Imperial cadets and ensigns, and even less with the ragtag volunteers of the Rebel Alliance. General Draven asked him exactly once to instruct a group of newly enlisted rebels, and never again.
Growing up his closest (and sometimes only) companions were droids, and as such he often feels more comfortable with them than with actual people. Droids love him because he takes them seriously, and has a tendency to repair or improve them when he can, even if he doesn’t need them right away.
Ever since defecting from the Empire he has difficulty thinking of the future, because he lost his whole personality with the action and now he has no idea what he even wants. He wants to bring down the Empire, but beyond that he has no clue, and it terrifies him whenever Zeb tries to bring it up. For Zeb, who lived on a relatively peaceful planet until the Empire had already risen, this is a difficult subject to navigate.
Having been at the centre of the war for almost his entire life, it’s the only thing he knows, and him and Rex bond over this, becoming good friends. Rex however does know what it’s like to leave the war behind by then, and he serves as an inspiration for Kallus in this. Especially when Ahsoka returns and they finally get to settle down together.
And a completely irrelevant headcanon based purely on that early concept art of him: he has a Chiss ancestor, but so far down the line that it’s not accessibly documented, and he doesn’t know.

A feeling in the force
Kanan didn’t need the force to feel something off about Hera lately. She wouldn’t say anything about it but she didn’t need too…she felt so tired? Empty? Like he could taste the bitter tears coming off her though it wasn’t visible on her face. Finally He couldn’t talk it any longer. He didn’t want to push her but it felt like the unshed tears where stinging him.So as she was heading to the cockpit ladder. He took her arm.
“Hera spill what’s going on.” Hera wasn’t the pity type so he needed a different approach.
“Nothing.” She responded.
“Thats a load of bantha fodder and we both know it.”
“Oh really how could you tell? Is it Jedi powers?” She replied more as a challenge.
“I don’t need the force to tell something is wrong now please talk to me.”
“Nothing…” she said with a pause this time
Im not going to get anything from her am I?He thought to himself.
“Nothing, except for the fact that we still haven’t found a base! lothal is still under siege and I just got word from fulcrum that ry-!” Her tone was rising as she spoke ending her rant with a growl as soon as she said ry- cutting herself off.He has never really heard her mention anything about her her home or her past if that was even relevant.
“This galaxy has gone to the wolves.Im going to bed.”she was about to head up the cockpit ladder when Kanan gently took her arm and rubbed his thumb over it.
“That never stopped you before, it never stopped us before.”
“Kanan thats sweet but not now I-“ and suddenly she was transported back to ryloth. Her father Cham had gotten badly injured in a battle, so much so that they weren’t sure if he would recover.Hera couldn’t even bear to visit him in the medwing, that is until Elani said those magical words. “Nothing can stop us Hera nothing , and you shouldn’t let anything keep you from your family.Your father needs you right now.” And suddenly she was little Hera again.Little Hera who was afraid.Who missed her loving mother and father and her eyes starting to mist and as she broke into a sob and fell into her jedi’s arms.
“Shh.” He rubbed her back softly.
“Today w-was the anniversary of my moms death! It was the day everything went wrong! And my father.I keep getting news of Ryloth! My people are enslaved and the war takes more and more from us! And Im watching my father spiral and I can’t go back-I don’t want to but ugh!” She shouts with angry tears, she starts tugging at her montrails.Kanan squeezes her tighter.
“Hera I don’t know what to say.” He rubs her back again quietly.
“This was the one day where we could patch things up.The anniversary of her death. We argued but we came together and thats all gone.I miss my mother.I miss my father.” Her Twi’lek accent was peaking.
“Hera we will get through this.” He responded now with a smile.
“Sometimes Im not so sure.” She responds with a grim chuckle.
“You taught me the power hope when I forgot it.When I was trapped in the drunk darkness, and because I feel it.
“In the force?” Hera asked.
“In you.” He said kissing her forehead gently.
Thank you guys so much for the support it gave me so much motivation to continue writing and slowly I will reveal more of the backstory.🥰.Don’t worry my OC backstory is plenty tragic and if anyone hasn’t seen it yet check it out in still tweaking it and looking for feedback.I decided to do something a little but different since Kanera is the current winner and I lack patience. (There is some Rebel Captain art in the works.) anyway I wrote this myself and I hope you like it.

The Clone Wars and the Siege of Mandalore and Rex and the Kanan mention and Jacen being force sensitive and the LEIA MENTION and I need to stop myself before this post is a million words long.
Anyway, feel free to message me and scream about it because I need someone to talk about it with too.

Rebels Rewatch: “Vision of Hope“
Plot threads coming together as we approach the home stretch and season finale arc, lets explore some sewers today!
Kanan has deemed it safe enough to enlist help training Ezra again.  Fortunately this time they are solidly on the ground and taking precautions. XD
This exercise is a little bit similar to the one Anakin put Ahsoka through in Trials of the Jedi.  Only, you know, it has an actual achievable goal and endpoint (redirecting a blaster bolt into the target helmet) and Kanan doesn’t force Ezra to keep getting knocked unconscious over and over again.
Nice detail in Ezra sensing bolts coming and ducking, moving before they even remotely reach him.
Tumblr media
Please help him, he’s so tired.
Seeing that Ezra’s distracted, Kanan calls a brief halt.  I do wonder if Ezra’s own anticipation of catching Gall Trayvis’s broadcast, while he’s open to the Force and letting it help him deflect and dodge shots, is what triggered his vision.
The boy does tend to accident his way into Force breakthroughs lol.
Tumblr media
This full-body eyeroll is such a typical teenager thing.
The “Shenanigans” leitmotif comes in here, in playful synths.  Then the Force ring sound effects starts and it crashes to a halt with a note of cymbal percussion.  The strings take over with high frantic ascending trills that drop away into the full-on soundscape of Force noises, only a strained trumpet bleeting out halting notes of Ezra’s theme.
There’s a pulsing heartbeat sound underneath everything too.  Also love the wavering effect on the sides of the screen to indicate the vision.
The amazement when Kanan tells Ezra he deflected every single shot into the helmet, aww.
Tumblr media
He looks so proud.
You know in hindsight it’s really not surprising that Kanan assumed Ezra had graduated to tracking through the Force in “Legacy”, given how often the kid had already surprised him. XD
Tumblr media
His face.  *sobs*
I haven’t been commenting on it much but pay attention to whenever the titlecard pops up without its normal bombastic fanfare.  Usually a sign that things are serious.  I remember we went a solid streak of like five episodes in Season Four without a single fanfare and it was STRESSFUL.
Kanan brings up the very likely possibility that Ezra’s desires are coloring his vision, making him see what he wants to see out of it, which again goes to show why the Jedi teach discipline and clarity of mind when tapping into the Force.  You bring your own emotions and junk into the connection with you and they can trick you even more than the already cryptic and vague visions can.  “Your focus determines your reality.”
We’ll revisit this concept later in the series.
Zeb going for a headsmack while Sabine chooses a shoulder bump.  Sabine has this adorable devilish grin right before she lays it on him.  It turns softer and more playful as she passes.
Tumblr media
Ezra smacks Zeb back as he runs into the Ghost, cute.
Subtle animation appreciation moment: The way Ezra twirls his helmet before sitting down, lovely little character touches like this make the animation feel more natural and immersive and realistic.
Hngh, Ezra’s eagerness in these early scenes hurts.
Lol, Sabine leans in when Ezra mentions the mural, the artist in her is intrigued.  And without missing a beat she pulls up the correct schematic.
Tumblr media
This is the biased shipper in me but I’m loving their comfortable proximity, you can see Sabine slip out of her seat in the booth and kneel or crouch next to Ezra who’s on the stool.
Kanan once again warning Ezra not to put too much stock in his vision and Hera raising an eyebrow like, “Mais, c’est quoi?”
Tumblr media
“He had a what now?”
Hi Zare!
Zare is exiting state left into his own spinoff adventure lol.  (Really gotta get myself a copy of his books.)
Ezra’s eyes are really pretty this episode.
The crew talking about Ezra’s tragic backstory. :(
That old Ralph McQuarrie concept art put to use in lovely fashion.
Tumblr media
*has a plan*
Tumblr media
*DOUBT.jpeg*
And Chopper straight up murdered his first other droid lol.  And also very nearly takes Kanan’s head off.
The sass on this droid. XD
Always found it cute how Ezra doesn’t get indignant or offended by Sabine implying he smells like the sewers but glees up like it’s the most exciting thing in the world that she’s paid enough attention to him to tell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Kanan’s like, “Okay, can you not be embarrassing about your obvious crush for like two seconds?”
Hi Trayvis, you dirty lying snake. :)
Tumblr media
This shot of Ezra and Kanan igniting their lightsabers together for the first time is pretty sweet.
“Padawan Jabba.”  Snrk, love that Kallus remembered that.
Oooooh lookit the way Zeb’s bo-staff lights up the smoke!
Hera’s blaster has a very unique sound that I like.
The “Shenanigans” cue comes back but it is a lot less fun and upbeat.  Some of the chords sound transposed to minor key.
Trayvis starting pinging me the moment we saw him in person, honestly, just something about him and the way he talked was way too slimy but his hesitance to actually escape here definitely got me suspicious.
Good thing Kanan was reviewing blaster bolt deflection earlier lol.
Tumblr media
SNAAAAAAAAKE.
NO ONE LIKES YOU. >:(
Tumblr media
“How will you find us?”  “I can smell you, remember?” <3333333
Love to see Sabine initiating the banter for once.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Hera is like, “THAT’S CUTE GUYS BUT WE GOTTA GO.”
Trayvis digging for leads to other Rebel factions like the lying rat he is. >:(
Aaaaaand this is why Hera doesn’t tell the others anything, Ezra’s so eager to believe Trayvis is an ally that he’s just talking openly in front of him.  Disaster averted only because Ezra thinks the Ghost crew is literally all there is.
Subtle animation appreciation moment: The consistent wafts of air from the fan that blow Ezra’s hair.
The sharp-eyed can tell that Hera adjusts something on her blaster moments before handing it to Trayvis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EVERY SINGLE SHOT OF THE BETRAYED LOOK ON EZRA’S FACE HURTS ME PHYSICALLY AND PERSONALLY.
Tumblr media
Bbbbyyyyyyyyyy. :((((((((((((
Hera’s furious Mama Bear haymaker to Trayvis’s face is... satisfying.
I love the sound Ezra’s saber makes when it’s turned on, it sound so unique to normal lightsaber ignitions.
And then there’s one last distorted iteration of the “Shenanigans” cue and Ezra’s death glare game continues to be on point.
Tumblr media
Hera’s turn to comfort Ezra this time, though Kanan’s flat, “I saw this bratty kid who constantly caused me trouble.” gets a chuckle out of him first.
“Shenanigans“ comes back, properly in the woodwinds section and major key again to close us out.
Oof.  This episode isn’t one I particularly rewatch that often, since it’s kind of a bummer.  Our potential ally turns out to be a fraud and a spy, all the work the crew has done only seeming to put bigger and bigger targets on their backs.  But this is a franchise about hope, about enduring until the dawn breaks, so our heroes escape to lick their wounds, regroup, encourage each other, and try again.
And next episode they make some big splashes.  Boy oh boy. :)

Rainbow Mists In Which He Stands (A Kalluzeb Fic)
Had to do something short and sweet for these guys, I'm being consumed by them. I haven't decided yet if I might expand this into a three-part series, with this one, a Kanera one, and a Sabezra one (which, fair warning, would probably be platonic bc I have complicated feelings about them being a couple). The point is, this is a delightful little break for Kalluzeb and they're having a nice time together. IN case you were wondering, the title is another Wayne Visser reference; that part of the poem kinda melted and gooified together in my brain like crayons left in the sun with that art @kappamelone did of trans kallus a little while ago to create my favorite scene in here (which will be terribly obvious when you see it). Read on and enjoy!
The crew of the Ghost had been offered (ordered) shore leave for a few days after a stunning misadventure involving Chopper, a bag of explosives, and a remarkable inability to count. Kanan said it was because their nerves were all stripped after that; Hera muttered about being put in time-out and kicked a couple of crates.
Zeb, like Ezra and Sabine, didn’t really care why they had been sent away to a remote moon for a bit of quiet time. He joined them in making excited plans about how to make the most of it, especially after learning that Kallus had been commanded to go with them.
“They want me to keep an eye on you,” he said, then a little more irately, “I’m pretty sure Rebel Command is as sick of me as they are of you.” Having been recruited into the Rebellion by the Specters, he had picked up their annoying habits of rarely listening to orders in the way in which they were intended.
But once again, Zeb didn’t care why Kallus had been packed up and shipped off with the Ghost’s crew, and he convinced Kallus to stop caring at least until they got back from leave. Then he could be annoyed about it all he liked.
The minute they landed, Ezra and Sabine raced out of the Ghost, shoving each other to the side, to take in the view. The planet was warm, covered in tall trees with vines hanging from the branches and brightly colored spiky flowers. Zeb had never seen another planet quite like it; the kids probably hadn’t, either.
Kanan and Zeb sat down together on the ramp, while Hera went through her post-flight checks and powered down the ship. “I used to go camping with the other Honor Guards,” Zeb said. He was still a little bit surprised, himself, every time he mentioned his life on Lasan. It seemed to happen more frequently these days; he wondered if maybe letting go of his pain enough to make room in his life for Kallus had helped him be more at peace with it in general. “I could show the kids how to set up tents.”
Kanan smiled, his head tilted towards where Sabine was gushing over how good the spiky flowers would be as pigments for her paints. “They’d get a real kick out of that,” he said. “You’ll probably have to drag Hera off the Ghost by her ankles, though.”
“What about my ankles?” Hera sat down between them, leaning against Kanan’s arm. “I guess—to spare you boys the effort—I could be convinced to spend the night outside. Sleeping among the stars is one thing, but there’s something special about sleeping under them, too.”
Kanan’s grin grew wider, and he kissed the side of Hera’s head. “You old romantic,” he teased.
Zeb rolled his eyes, standing up to stretch. “I’ll get the tents,” he said. Let those two have their moment. He went back into the Ghost and hefted the top off of a storage crate that he’d stuffed a couple of tents into before leaving the base. He’d only been able to find three; he expected Sabine and Hera would probably share a tent and leave Ezra and Kanan to commune with the new planet’s nature in that Jedi way of theirs—and of course he and Kallus would bunk together.
Speaking of Kallus, where had he gotten off to? He was prone to sort of drifting off while everyone else was busy, and half the time he neglected to even mention to Zeb where he was going. It was hard for him, Zeb thought, when he was with the Spectres; they had been a family unit when he met them, and he hadn’t figured out how to integrate into it just yet.
Zeb stopped to set down the tents outside before following the path that Kallus’s boots had left in the soft grass. Ezra and Sabine had stopped their frenzied exploration to lay back on the ground for a minute, and he gently nudged Sabine’s shoulder with his foot as he passed. It was good for them to enjoy themselves. They didn’t get to be kids often enough.
He didn’t mind getting the time to relax himself. He didn’t really care how long it would take him to catch up to Kallus, with fresh, greenery-scented air to breathe and nothing to distract him from appreciating the scenery. There were certain bright orange flowers that reminded him of ones that grew on Lasan, and soft white ones that looked like the drifts of snow on Bahryn.
Zeb finally stopped when he saw the waterfall up ahead. It was one of the most stunning views he’d ever seen.
Standing at the very edge of the fall, feet submerged in the pool it created, was Kallus, shirt, jacket, and boots discarded on a nearby rock, his head tilted back ever-so-slightly and his damp hair clinging to his face and neck. Where the water spilled across his freckled shoulders, it shifted and shimmered in the light, the mist forming a rainbow in the air like a cape.
There was that feeling Zeb was still trying to get used to: looking at Kallus and being sure that his heart was going to beat against his lungs so hard he would pass out, like there wasn’t enough room for love and oxygen in him at the same time and his body would rather go without the oxygen. It was easy to say he had never been in love with anyone the way he had fallen for Kallus. He wondered sometimes at the designs of the Ashla, but he was certain it had guided them towards each other, softening each of them in turn to make what they had now possible.
Zeb released a sigh and walked across the clearing to stand at the edge of the pool. “Enjoying nature all by yourself, handsome?” he teased. Kallus’s face instantly broke into a wide, unguarded smile, such that Zeb only ever saw when they were alone together, his amber eyes lighting like sparks from a flint. There weren’t many lines by those eyes yet; like Zeb, Kallus had spent more of his life frowning or scowling than he had smiling, but he was making some progress. A few of the worry lines, at least, seemed to have become less pronounced, now that Kallus was a little bit less tense than he had been as an Imperial agent.
“I don’t have to be,” Kallus said. Zeb stepped into the shallow water and waded over to Kallus, ripples fanning out around his legs as he walked.
Zeb cupped his hands around Kallus’s upper ribcage, thumbs covering the beautiful twin scars beneath his pectorals. The lines were thick and pale, mostly even; only jagged at the edges. “Have I ever told you how much I like these?” he asked, leaning his forehead against Kallus’s.
“Every time you see me with my shirt off,” Kallus answered, resting his hands on Zeb’s forearms.
“Which isn’t often enough for my taste,” Zeb said. Kallus laughed (Ashla, did Zeb love that deep, hoarse laugh), fingers playing across a set of dark purple stripes that were a little bit darker still than the others on Zeb’s body.
“How long do you think we have before they miss us?” Kallus asked. His face was flushed from sun—it made the freckles on his face seem just a little bit more vivid by contrast.
“A half hour before the kids hunt me down to set up the tents.”
Kallus smiled at him, more softly than before, but with just as much earnestness. “Ever the family man, aren’t you, Garazeb.”
Then he put his arms around Zeb’s neck and kissed him, and there was nothing on the planet except the two of them and the stones beneath their feet and the mists spilling across their shoulders, and for just a moment nothing could ever be wrong again.

☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?
OHOHOHOHO I've got so many---
(get ready for a long post)
My current favorite is a Kalluzeb Superhero AU. It's a little wild, but the concept is the Ghost crew are superheros with various powers. Hera can fly, Sabine can create illusions, Kanan and Ezra have telekinesis, and Zeb has super strength. Zeb is the only one of the heroes who does not have a secret identity. I'm not 100% sure how that happened, but I figure there was an accident and his mask was damaged. His identity was released against his will, and now he's had to balance heroic work and the fame, something the rest of the Ghost crew doesn't fully understand because they've preserved their secret identities.
Kallus does not have powers, but he's a journalist who faces a lot of pressure from his superiors to report on the superheroes. Instead of bending to this pressure, Kallus actively avoids anything on the heroes and focuses on other issues like poverty, homelessness, corruption, etc, just about anything that keeps him away from the fast-paced and intense adventures of the heroes.
Well, as it turns out, Kallus did such a good job on avoiding anything and everything about the heroes that he can't recognize the heroes or even name them all off the top of his head. He doesn't even recognize the famed Garazeb Orrelios when they bump into each other at a bar. Kallus assumes this is just Some Guy and they chat. Zeb is eager to talk to someone who doesn't bring up his hero work 24/7. They talk, they like each other, and Kallus ends up bringing Zeb home with him that night. They sleep together, blah blah blah. Fast forward to the next morning when Zeb, assuming Kallus is just too polite to mention his hero work, makes an offhand comment about said work.
Kallus finally clues into the situation and realizes he slept with the Most Desired Man in the entire city. Zeb finally realizes he's actually met someone who didn't know about his hero work, and who, even after learning about it, doesn't care. Kallus, genuinely, could not care less. He doesn't report on the heroes. It's not an ethical issue. As long as he keeps it secret from his bosses, no one will bother him about it or try to make him write an article on it.
So they keep seeing each other. It starts out pretty strictly sexual and platonic, so Zeb doesn't bother telling the Ghost crew. They're not committed, but they start really enjoying seeing each other. They start going out once in a while, Zeb often masking up to hide his identity, and these outings start feeling more and more like dates. And really, who can blame Zeb when he starts sleeping over more often? Who can blame Kallus when he looks so forward to Zeb coming over?
MEANWHILE, while all of this is happening, the Ghost crew is having their own issues. Until now, they've operated independently. They've got their system of being on duty and watching over the city (what city? heck if i know). They train together and live together. They got their own thing going. However, there's a government program that's been established. It's kinda like SHIELD if you know Marvel. It's just a government program like the FBI who also want to get the vigilantes under their thumb. Anyways, most of the Ghost crew is considering joining this government program.
I say most because Zeb is adamantly against it. He's not even considering it. He thinks if they go under this program's authority, they'll lose their freedom and independence. He's also worried the government will force the rest of the Ghost crew to reveal their identities (protective much, Zeb?). But there are good reasons to join. Hera and Kanan think it would take the pressure off if they operated through a third-party. Sabine and Ezra want more free time to focus on their education and hobbies. Still, Zeb is nervous.
Anyways, the Ghost crew, one way or another, gets involved with the government. Zeb's not happy, but he's not abandoning his family. But he's also extremely nervous about Kallus. He's heard of this program using heroes' loved ones against them. He's terrified of how the government could use Kallus against him. Kallus doesn't have a superpower to protect thimself. The Ghost crew doesn't even know Kallus exists yet!
AND THEN. Kallus and Zeb make their relationship official. Kallus knows the general gist of the government third-party thing, and he can tell it's causing Zeb a lot of anxiety, but he loves Zeb and he wants to commit to a romantic relationship. Zeb does to, more than anything. So they do. But Zeb is so terrified of losing Kallus or watching Kallus get used against him by the government. So he decides to keep Kallus secret from anything and everyone. They still go out, of course, and are together. Kallus' friends (Ahsoka and Cassian, both journalists) know about them. But the Ghost crew doesn't know about Kallus. Zeb's chosen to keep him secret to hide him from the government.
And SO. The story progresses. There's a lot more to it when the government starts sending the Ghost crew on missions and Zeb has to continue doing wilder and riskier things to keep Kallus hidden. But it's about the secret relationship, their commitment to each other. It's about them loving each other and being willing to do anything for each other, yet being unable to be open about it. It's also about betrayal and Zeb keeping something so significant secret from his family. It's about the angst when the Ghost crew inevitably finds out. It's about so much and I don't know how to put it into words.
I have variations of this au, including situations where Kallus and Zeb are married by the time the Ghost crew starts working for the government, which sends Zeb down a wild ride trying to keep his marriage certificate secret. I've also got variations where Kallus and Zeb end up adopting kids and the things they do to keep the kids safe, preserve their upbringing, and also be there for them. In most of these situations, they adopt the kids out of necessity, such as Kallus' sibling dying or being unable to care for their kids and Kallus needing to take them in. God I've got so much in this au, it's insane I haven't written anything about it.

i like Physically Need ezra to be around during the og trilogy timeline and after it so ezra and luke could be THE fruity jedi besties like obi-wan and quinlan once were but like forty years younger. imagine luke going to dagobah to seek jedi knowledge from master yoda himself and when he comes back and tells ezra what happened he's like THE FUCK?? i had to talk to that old bastard through the force and crack his fucking riddles but when YOU needed guidanse he was like yeah hmu i'm chillin out there my god ahsoka was right those damn skywalkers are force's favorites. i need them gossiping about obi-wan (“uncle ben? kriffing a sith lord? no way” “BRUH I'M TELLING YOU I KNOW THEY DID IT BUT I JUST CAN'T PROVE IT”). i need ezra seeing luke for the first time and IMMEDIATELY knowing he was gay even when luke himself had no idea. i also need to see luke's face when they first meet and ezra introduces himself as nothing less but jabba the hutt. i need leia and ezra to lovingly make fun of how little luke knows about the galaxy outside of tattoine and about the force and them having the longest chats about their home planets (because ezra can't be normal about lothal and leia is literally the princess and representer of alderaan). i need ezra and luke to start a new jedi order together, with ezra honoring kanan's teachings and also his example of how a jedi can have attachments and still respect the code. i need ezra to tell luke kanan's story because he was obviously curious to learn about another jedi but too awkward to ask and i need luke to tell ezra about his father, who also was a jedi (the vader era of his father was not considered important to mention). also, my wife's take: i need ezra to be ben solo's jedi master because ezra as someone who was impacted by the dark side at some point of his life would understand ben's struggle more then luke could and he could actually set healthy boundaries between them, which luke could not do - simply because he was ben's uncle. (i also just like the idea of ben being mace windu's lineage). i need ezra to make fun of luke when he can't hide his crush on din djarin properly and i need luke to make fun of ezra even more when ezra can't hide his embarrassingly huge crush on sabine wren who visits their temple sometimes (and they gossip about their mandalorians A LOT). i need ezra to celebrate the victory over the empire on endor with all the rebels (including hera and rex) and while luke is chatting with his force ghosts he is talking to kanan's ghost. i just want luke to have another jedi around that is not a force ghost and not ahsoka who can't always be there, someone to share his frustration and fears with, someone to meditate with, to run a new jedi order with, to train with, because at some point they both feel like they are the only jedi in the galaxy and they just don't have to be
