So I was watching an Animal Crossing comic dub and I realized that Redd/Tom Nook and Macaque/Sun Wukong have a lot of similarities:

Friends/lovers/etc. that are now rivals

Unknown friendly past that broke down- we only know what the ending of each relationship was, not what led up to it.

Macaque and Redd are both artistic tricksters that are mainly interested in doing things in their own self-interest

(Including tricking kids)

Tom and Wukong are former tricksters with kids that they are fond of

Both are (probably) rich and own an island

Macaque and Redd follow and bother Wukong and Tom, neither who want to deal with them.

nope you're spot on tomkin was only sixteen when he went to war! im going to cry

#like dont compare trauma and all that but tomkin and nanook joining the war effort as literal teenagers #is sadder to me than what happened to the gaang?#hmm maybe not sadder persay but it's DIFFERENT and the grief is different i think #like the gaang left to persue a destiny and they were too young and saw too much #but they stayed in their group and they were individuals and they KNEW their presence meant something. like they were important #they were ACTIVELY CREATING CHANGE #whereas tom nook just joined the fray like they would have seen and been in actual battles #and yes their chief is good but at the end of the day any soldier in a war will always boil down to faceless cannon fodder #they meant NOTHING in the grand scheme of things and they KNOW THAT #and they're both non-benders going into battle against firebenders and they have no timeline for it #there's no 'if we do x thing the war will end' like to them it could go on forever #in fact they know statistically they're more likely to die before the war ends bc it could be YEARS and it's already been a century of war #and they were literally just kids through it all. stop itttt this is why they're so attached at the hip #they really found their person and latched the fuck on #ask #taob asks

Me writing animal crossing lore in my head while falling asleep: I am about to craft a narrative that is so convoluted

#random thoughts #animal crossing #okay so isabelle has been divorced once and is currently married to her high school sweetheart who she broke up with when he was drafted #her ex husband was abusive and she left him after she got pregnant because she was better at putting other people's wellbeing over her own #she reconnected with her ex sweetheart when her daughter was four years old #his name is ted he is a bear he had braces when he was younger and he's an absolute sweetheart #so while she's with ted she starts questioning her sexuality because she never really had the chance to explore it #since she grew up in a small town and married young due to a pregnancy scare #and ted's like 'hey do you wanna explore your sexuality?' but isabelle's reluctant #since her ex cheated on her a lot and she's afraid of becoming like him #but ted's a real experienced man and he's been in polyamorous relationships before so they start going to clubs together #so she can get comfy with the idea #(she's pansexual btw and she goes through this whole crisis about it because she's middle aged and married with a kid)#(so does it REALLY matter??? but it does it does a lot.)#so they go to clubs and isabelle starts flirting with women and getting comfy with it #and isabelle starts getting harrassed by this dude and she says she's here with her husband to try and get him to leave her alone #but ted's in the bathroom and the guy isn't backing off and GUESS WHO SWOOPS IN TO SAVE THE DAY #fucking TOM NOOK THAT'S WHO #tom nook also grew up in a small town but he got to explore his sexuality when he moved to the city in his early twenties #he's well-known in queer circles for having gone FUCKING CRAZY in his heyday. he was gay divorced before gay marriage was LEGALIZED okay.#he's also a drag queen who performs at the club ted and isabelle went to #so like imagine tom just like LOOMING over this creep in these tall-ass stiletto heels #like tom's intimidating okay. he's a big dude.#so that's how tom and isabelle met <3 also ted has like. the SMALLEST crush on tom. he'd never act on it tho #he's more than fine with polyamory when it's his partner practicing but he prefers to have a singular partner #he likes it when he knows isabelle is being taken care of <3 he's such a sweetheart #tom is VERY flattered by ted's like. small but obvious crush #isabelle's daughter is like. heyyyy remember like literally months ago when i sent you an ask about play therapy and children coping through play and how it would be interesting having zi se do it or something ??? yeah well i was just going through my notes app and found everything i typed out about it and realized i never got around to sending it you so ima just copy and paste here, if ur no longer interested in it no worries but here ya go

okay SO the whole thing about coping with trauma through play, first we’re gonna back track and look at WHY children play. children are literally just constantly trying to figure out how to be alive basically and trying to find their place in the world. typically children play to understand and explore the world around them. if you observe a child playing they will often play in a way that’s recreating life that they have seen. (i’ve watched it with my brother it’s crazy like he’ll see a scene on tv and then like recreate it with his toys) also for example, kids playing with those toy cash registers, kids playing with baby dolls and caring for them, kids playing with tools to fix things, almost all the time their play is going to reflect the world around them. often they will take on the role of the adult in their play because it helps them understand a bit better why. “why” is a child’s biggest question, all throughout childhood they are just figuring out “why” why is the world the way it is? why do some people play these roles in my life? why did this thing happen to me? so let’s look at zi se. if he’s recreating what happened with fong in the form of play, he’s trying to gain some control over what happened, he’s trying to understand why it happened and what exactly happened. but the problem is, he’s just a tiny human, he doesn’t know how literally anything works and with what he’s been through, trying to learn how to just be is incredibly difficult. using play, he’s recreating the scary traumatic thing in a controlled environment with no real stakes. in his play he might want to take on the role that zuko did and mimic that, maybe he decides to “play” the “game” of zuko fighting for food. maybe taking on that role as play will help him understand why zuko did that, or how that made zuko feel. or maybe he’ll want to recreate the scene where he lost lanse, maybe he’ll want to play the role of zuko, and tell whoever is playing as zi se how they should act and feel. he could maybe tell them “now you’re supposed to act scared” and that’s him indirectly naming the emotion he felt in that moment and helping others realize how he felt in that moment. and if we really want to play into the play therapy aspect, whoever he’s playing with could acknowledge it and go “oh? did you feel scared” and then he might be like “yeah i felt scared.” he could play as himself too but children who play though traumatic events will sometimes want to play as who they see as the caregiver or the stronger one because they wish they could have been strong in that moment. and if he’s playing the scene with lanse, whoever he’s playing with could maybe be like “look! he’s fine actually!” and zi se would either be upset because he would want to replay exactly how it happened or maybe he would accept it and play it in a way with a happy ending. both could be therapeutic. i hope this is making sense?? i’m trying lol

im literally taking notes of u rn this is so fucking interesting and the zi se implications are so SAD

#ive been thinking of having a lighthearted scene maybe as soon as next chapter with zi se actually just playing like a normal kid #with tom nook and/or sokka bc then it's a fun scene for all of them and shows them taking some of the responsibilty off zuko #but i knew i wanted to kind of get some zi se trauma in there and now im Looking at this #idk. we shall see #abby smartest person award 2023 #ask #taob asks

So yeah! He does social justice while you do Stardew Valley!

He'll sometimes roll over to your desk and say hi to your chat, completely commandeering the stream.

"Playing Animal Crossing, I see... Dude- This game just teaches capitalism to kids! Tom Nook is a capitalist! He steals money from the working class!"

He has a segment on his streams every now and again where he'll either play a game with you or he lets you talk/make something on his steam (I'm picturing like customizing your switch or building Lego)

As much as he wants to, he kind of can't raid you afterwards because your audiences are very different.

The same way that if you were to raid him, you'd be sending an army of soft girlfriends like you to rally amidst incels, Hasanabi-heads, activists, and Top G high value alpha males.

Safe to say, he can't raid you, but, he constantly and strongly recommends people to go watch your stream instead of his if he's reacting or speaking about something specifically triggering.

Sometimes, he'll get you to entertain his chat when he goes to the toilet
