The sign that I am reaching a fandom critical excursion is when I start building investigator cards for Arkham Horror based on the fandom. How obsessed I am will determine how much material I can generate for Arkham Horror games.
So far, I've made investigator cards for Left 4 Dead/Left 4 Dead 2, Star Trek TNG (including Q as an Ancient One), Sherlock Holmes and Watson, Hellsing, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, and Good Omens. Once I made cards for Rick & Morty and Steven Universe but those obsessions didn't last so they've never been playtested.
For Torchwood, I've actually made an entire elaborate set that includes a special Torchwood item deck, a replacement Ally deck, a Herald (Abbadon), a Guardian (the Doctor), new monsters, an alternate set of Ancient Ones, and a specific overarching scenario. The only reason this hasn't been playtested is because I don't have a printer; hence, I have to make all the cards and chits by hand, and I'm too neurofucked to manage that task most of the time. One of these days, though...
I'm currently developing a Re-Animator game, which will have a number of characters, monsters, etc., but is less elaborate than "Death By Torchwood" because there's just not a lot of characters in that universe. And my wife and I are batting around ideas for a Twin Peaks-themed game that would be heavily reliant on a new Ally deck and probably have to rewrite a bunch of rules as a result.
Anyway, my point is that since my focus this week is on The Godfather, it's really goddamn hard not to start gaming out cards so that I can have the Corleones fighting Cthulhu.

"I'm not sure I want to be near Jesus when I die. I might make a mistake, even just a small one, and upset him. I don't know enough about him to know what might make him mad."
