#OTD in 1919 – Harry Boland and Michael Collins engineer Éamon de Valera’s escape from Lincoln Jail in England. He is dressed as a woman.
The façade of Lincoln Prison is an intimidating welcome for anyone entering the facility. Since its opening in 1872, few have escaped and those who have were often quickly re-apprehended. That is, except for the case of Éamon de Valera, the Irish dissident and future president of Ireland, who managed to escape to freedom in 1919 in a famous incident which briefly brought the Irish revolution to…

Episode 4
Spoilers
Rick eyeing Michonne's thighs and ass. That man. Since day fucking one.
The way Michonne flicks her wrist when she says, "Poetry." Flick, swish, like her sword work. It was in the leaked scene and I've been emulating it for days.
The first time I burst into tears, Rick's trembling hand over the apartment door handle.
Rick having a panic attack connecting with Michonne again, JFC! I didn't cry the first time but because of the confession that comes later I ugly cried the second time. And I know we love Richonne smut but honestly that was so damn intimate and real I had to look away and give them some privacy.
"I can't live without you. Without you, I die."
"When I saw you I got so scared. I needed to get ahead of it."
"Knowing. Seeing that loss, I can't- I won't survive that Michonne. I just won't."
If Andrew Lincoln doesn't get acting awards for this series I will get violent. He triggered a goddamn heart condition.
When Michonne places that drawing of Carl in Rick's hand - I have only ever cried like that one other time in my life, over the cancer diagnosis of a real loved one. I could literally feel my heart breaking. It still hurts hours later. My wails didn't even make a sound, I was speechless with grief, breathless.
Danai Gurira, ladies and gentlemen. She protected her piece from AMC and brought us here.
"That's how we make it all make sense. We love on each other as hard as we can while we can."

The reason why this series is so hugely successful is because it improves the mothership, TWD. I don't even call all the themes this series weaves, the characterizations, "call backs." The series makes TWD better. It threads humanity and real love into all the silence and stoic dialogue. TWD's most character conflict season was S2 and it was quarantined from the rest of the series, they never let interpersonal and internal conflict get that externalized ever again. [Think about how terribly the scripts fumbled after Glenn died, because they were so eager to get to Negan.]
I've seen some commenters focus on how Michonne hasn't yet said "I love you" in this series. But look how Rick has said it and when he's said it in the series and in TWD, he uses the phrase as an apology. Michonne doesn't need to say it because her actions show it. Rick doesn't feel the need to say when his actions show it too.
Let's fucking go! The best couple ever written for television is on the same page again. They can do anything.

Been thinking about Vincent today and something just occurred to me.
Okay, so we know their dad (term here used loosely) separated he and Bo. We know it was controversial. We know that of the twins, Vincent got the literal raw end of the deal. So what if… what if he dedicated his life to learning his mum’s (again, term used loosely) wax and sculpting crafts because if he didn’t, his parents would have even less reason to love him?
He’s ugly, they say, he must hide his face, only take it off when he’s alone (being alone usually involves Bo because spending time with his twin is as relaxing as solitude for Vincent), they should have had two beautiful boys but instead they had one and a… a half one. Vincent is less than a person because of what their dad did to him. Bo has scars too, but it’s hidden by his hair. Bo is beautiful. Vincent is not. He could be, he could be, but if his face isn’t pretty, then he’ll just have to work as hard as he can to master his mother’s craft, so his art can be beautiful. So others can be immortalised in their beauty too.
Vincent’s beauty was taken from him by god, his parents say, so he takes others’ lives and encases them in wax so they stay forever beautiful and he can gift them that. If he works hard enough, tries hard enough, then maybe one day, even though Vincent has no beauty of his own but he can work to give others what he’s missing. Maybe one day his mum will love him.

if there’s one thing i noticed from the fifa 2022 word cup is that these men?? these lil guys?? they wanna show off their thighs. wanna flaunt those juicy hamstrings packed with muscle in their slutty little boy shorts. and if you zoom in reeaaaallll close you can see that there is not a single hair to be seen on those babies.
anyway this is my very elaborate way of saying you and bachira go wax your legs together

i think the 'cosmic horror' narrative that TMA tries really hard to push is like. much less interesting than the themes of interpersonal hurt and domestic issues that it is constantly fixated on. like it's struck me on my re-listen just how many statements are about the family at their core. and the horror coming from inside the house there is like. way chewier than the meta-narrative it tries to do about how Fear Controls Us All or something. imo. in my opinion.

I had another potential concept for how Iseult meets the turtles
It would happen much earlier in the series than I originally considered, during the brief time the turtles ended up in Triceraton prison during the first arc of Season 2. In the most likely instance, I can imagine her having gotten framed for something that the Triceratons took full offense to, alongside her adoptive father. The whole thing is definitely Torbin Zixx's fault. And because they already made one near-successful escape attempt, they've been forced to partake in The Games as gladiators (they're the second most recent arrival after the turtles.)
Much like the other, more barebones version of their meeting, Iseult's problem is that her universal translator is broken; this isn't as much of a problem with the other gladiators, most of whom still have working translators of their own, but since the turtles don't have them, she initially can't directly communicate with them and has to rely on the Leader Gunjin to translate for her. During the shock stick practice gone awry, Iseult ends up going against Don while Raph is up against the Leader Gunjin, and Don takes note of the fact Iseult seems hesitant to fight him and his brothers. However, when the Leader Gunjin is getting his butt kicked by Raphael, Iseult leaps in to defend him, and they are among those pleasantly surprised at Leo's choice to spare Traximus. During their "Last Meal," Raphael inquires about Iseult and the Leader Gunjin's situation after Traximus explains his story, to which the Leader Gunjin explains their plight and the fact that Iseult's translator is broken. Don offers to check her translator and discovers that the needed fix is actually very simple, although he unfortunately doesn't have the necessary tools on hand to do it. Iseult then says something to Don, which the Leader Gunjin translates as "Thank you. I could sense from the moment you and your brothers entered this place that you are as kind as you are brave."
Like the other gladiators, the plan was for Iseult to fight the turtles to the death, but she, Traximus, and the Leader Gunjin all refused, and they were separated from them. During the confusion the turtles caused escaping with Honeycutt, Iseult and the Leader Gunjin were able to escape with the other gladiators; she and the Leader Gunjin reunited with her uncles, but they decided to stick with Traximus in order to repay their debt to him. She also got her translator fixed and snagged a spare in case it got broken again because seriously, not having one sucks.
(Semi-related: I really wanna give the Inuwashi Gunjin proper names. It feels silly just calling them Leader, Hothead, Sage, and Joker. Well, "Sage" and "Joker" definitely work as names, but not "Hothead" or "Leader." We also don't know which Gunjin are Hothead, Sage, and Joker to begin with.)
Iseult later reunites with the turtles during the Big Brawl arc. They first spot the Leader Gunjin, alongside Traximus, in the crowd of fighters, and she makes her appearance while Mikey, Don, Raph, and Splinter are waiting on Leo; she's not actually participating in the tournament, revealing that she's only there to support her father while gathering information for her "personal project." She ends up assisting with the whole Ultimate Ninja and Drako thing, helping Don, Usagi, and Leo (once he's recovered from the poison dart incident) to protect the Daimyo from Ultimate Ninja's assassins.
Iseult doesn't go home with the turtles after the Battle Nexus, but she officially decides to move to Earth and set up shop after the Triceraton invasion, during which she and her adopted family assisted in Traximus' rebellion. She discreetly travels to Earth through the Battle Nexus, appearing in the turtles lair with her things and promising that she'll be out of their metaphorical hair as soon as she's figured out a good, well-hidden place to set up all her equipment, which ultimately ends up being a small shelter near the Jones family farmhouse. Happy end for her! (I wish, but we still got a few more seasons to go through.)

at last my 2nd fav Con happened and I could wear probably the creation I’m the most proud of :D I had already worn this handmade salopette dress as a crash test earlier this year and since then I improved it! even if it’s not v comfortable and kinda heavy, i’m v happy w the result! This is a mix of my 2 fav styles ever and my fav aesthetic, decora kei, cyberpop and neon colours (even uv reactive!) ♥ I’m proud of myself, I worked to improve myself for more than a decade to reach this level of style and I can humbly say I’m succeeding! but I’m not resting on my laurels and give myself the challenge to improve even more !
