Wrote this out of boredom uhhhh

For years I've just kinda ignored metasusie because I thought it was dumb more than anything, but seeing the new wave of fans latch onto the first straight ship they see it means I'm seeing it flood my timelines and I'm forced to think about it. I don't even subscribe to the MK has robot PTSD theory so much as I think it's just a bad read of both characters. I think people should be allowed to make and consume what could be considered problematic media as long as they still think critically about what they are doing and understand the effects their creations can have on people. But I'm not seeing that here. Listen if this was just a bad read of the characters I wouldn't make an elaborate post on it unless someone asked about it oop There are a lot of headcanons I think are shitty reads of the characters, but that's all they are. There is no point to take a fat dump on them other than I was bored and wanted to complain.

But metasusie isn't just that, it promotes harmful ideas rather the people that like the pair realize it or not. If the gender roles were switched more people would recognize that there was an unfair power balance and how icky the whole situation is, and if it isn't undermining MK then Susie is reduced to a sexy mannequin devoid of personality to look pretty next to the cool guy. I have never seen a ship that both completely disregards the media's message in order to exist and is so sexist for both characters involved; and I'd never thought I'd have to say that for a bloody Kirby ship.

I know I'm not changing metasusie fan's minds because they are very stubborn. After scrolling on Twitter too much it's clear that metasoos fans know their ship is problematic, and instead of reflecting on themselves they try to divert attention by bullying gay people or smth. I've seen them try to argue that metadede is the more problematic pairing, and as someone who does not like metadede, *bruh* it is as inoffensive as stock images lmao. Rather I'm writing this so that people that get there is smth off about the pairing but can put to words what they're feeling. Because if you so much as poke at the arguments supporting it, they immediately shatter they're so haphazardly put together.

And knowing what posting this will entail; please don't harass anyone over this, it won't help your point. I don't think that liking smth yikesy automatically makes someone a bad person, some people just legit don't know better. I think what matters more is how the respond after the fact, and to be patient with people because you can't expect anyone to change overnight. That said some people won't change their minds ever, and no amount of trying to cram the idea in their heads will change do that. Hell constantly poking someone about it when they have shown they don't care about the topic, even if you think they are wrong about it that's just bullying. If you can't change someone's mind they aren't worth the time.

So, the big point everyone has seen. Susie ripped MK of his humanity. When you say you "remodeled" someone and give them a new robot name you have dehumanized them. There is no getting around that fact, and this is a thing that happened in the main story not even as pause screen lore.

How she describes him before the second fight is particularly degrading, calling him a product and referring to him as "it". The line about the upgrade enabling him to work for 24 hours is definitely commentating on long works hours lol

People will argue that MK doesn't seem all that bothered by it so it's okay, I'd argue that isn't the case but let's go with this take anyways. Even if MK himself was okay with being reduced to a company's asset, the act of mechanizing someone against their will is still an irresponsible thing to do on Susie's end. I'm pretty sure 80% of metasusie fans didn't actually play Planet Robobot, but just so that we are on the same page, the plot of that game is that the entirety of Planet Popstar is robotized by the Haltmann company and Kirby has to save the planet from being taken over by comically over-the-top capitalists. Meta Knight is one of the many, many victims of robotization and the fact that the galaxy's greatest warrior was even taken over by the company is how the game raises its stakes. Whispey the tree becoming company property is bad enough, but the Haltmann company is just so damn powerful that not even Meta Knight could fight them off. This is the part where the player goes "oh shit! Not the badass Meta Knight!" The whole game is critique of capitalism, that the system reduces those at the bottom (the robotized) into cogs of a wider machine that serves to maximize profits that benefits only those at the top (the Haltmanns). Doesn't matter how good you are at sword fighting, that can't fight off an economic system man. And this game's critique of capitalism, while still simple because all ages game, doesn't get enough credit. That line about being able to work for 24 hours isn't just a joke about how hard a job is, under capitalism the people in charge wring out as many hours out of their employees as they possibly can. They'd like it if we were all just mindless robots because more hours means get more work done in a week meaning more profit and faster. Even if you are 10 and have never heard of capitalism, it's still clear that the bad guys are doing their bad guy thing by taking over the good guys. My point is by excusing Susie robotizing Meta Knight and saying it wasn't all that bad, you are excusing the rest of the planet being turned into a hellscape and its inhabitants being ripped of their humanity. You are saying that the game's message does not matter, that the game's entire fucking conflict meant nothing. After all, if MK being robotized wasn't so bad then why would Kirby need to save the whole planet? Some people really will ignore a whole game to justify a ship god damn.

Some people instead claim that what Susie did was awful, but she can improve as a person and MK can forgive her. There are a handful of things wrong with this mindset let's break it down.

First off, Susie has never shown a willingness to change. "But she helped Kirby at the end" technically yes, but was it out of the kindness of her heart or because she was already in danger and recognized that he was the only way to ensure she'd survive? Going by her dialogue it looks more like the latter. "I'm not going to stand here be be destroyed by some crazy machine!" You got to work on your optics girl.

Compare and contrast this with Taranza helping Kirby in the end of Triple Deluxe. Taranza was blasted away Team Rocket style by Sectonia; he just had his best friend whom he was still loyal towards despite her changing for the worse finally betray him. He is literally blasted miles away from the big boss fight at this point and probably dealing with a lot of confused and built up emotions. And despite that, he goes to back to help Kirby and DDD defeat her having realized that she can't be saved. He could of stayed behind away from all the action, but he went back to do the right thing. Both Susie and Taranza would of died in their situations (Secc eventually becomes a ginat flower and starts to cover the planet) but Taranza was the one that put himself into more danger by going back. That's why he looks more selfless than Susie does. Not saying Susie didn't do a good thing either, nor that you can argue even Taranza might of had selfish motivations for wanting to survive because don't we all. But, because of the situation her motivations seemed more selfish in nature whereas Taranza put himself in more danger to save others.

Perhaps the intention was to have Susie be as admirable as Taranza was. I get the vibe the devs wanted Susie to be the next Taranza, but I don't think they captured what made him special. Yeah they both had sad backstories, but that doesn't excuse their bad actions. Rather they have to show them working to better themselves, and they had Taranza at the end helping DDD and Kirby back to Dreamland while Susie fucks off to space in her mech. If the intention was to make Susie nicer, then she should of been shown helping others more. Or maybe that wasn't even their intention, and Susie is just supposed to be a bad guy. Taranza and even the Squeaks in the infamously underwritten Squeak Squad make up for their actions at the end of their respective games, if they wanted Susie to reform they could have. And Magolor shows that if they change their minds on smth they can just retcon what happened in their next game appearance! So did they do that with Susie?

We would see her again in Star Allies, so if we get a plot follow up of sorts then it would be there. In it she's a Dream Friend; playable characters whose inclusion in the game are canonically dubious, but the information here is still significant because it's the closest thing we'll get to official media commenting on where the characters are after their own titles. It has been confirmed that there is no clear timeline, but it's fair to say that KSA takes place after all the other games because it references those, and how else would Kirby know all these people anyways? Ultimately the most common take is what you see is canon, and what people see is Susie helping Kirby and the game referencing the events of PR. Each playable character has a little blurb in their pause screens explaining why they are in the game. It should be noted that the people that translated the game were seemingly given like two days to complete it, so yes I will be bringing up the differences in versions, but the vast majority of people that played the English version only know about the English text. While the Japanese text is the "original", that doesn't make the English text any less valid no matter how bad you may think it is. In the English version Susie's blurb reads:

The company he built... I will bring it back!” Cool and collected, Susie from Kirby: Planet Robobot is all business. Following in the footsteps of her employer, she uses science to advance her mission—mechanizing new planets and peoples.

I don't think I even need to explain how this version of Susie is repeating the same villainous acts from her debut game. This is how most English players view the character rather you like it or not. Moving on to the Japanese version:

“His company…I’ll show that I will rebuild it!” Brushing aside a loose strand of shiny hair, the beautiful secretary Susie that inherited his will from Planet Robobot has taken action! A harmonious family, and a happy life, are offered with the power of science… I’ll exterminate the savages under such principles!

I've seen Susie fans say that her JP description is nicer than her EN one and proof she's changed for the better which. Okay mechanizing planets and people is arguably worse cause that's larger scale, but the JP version literally says she is killing people she decides are degenerates lol. And what she considers savages are the people of Popstar by the way, she isn't actually helping anybody. Even if she was killing obviously bad people, "exterminating the savages" is still a really blatantly evil way of wording things. That kind of language is used by colonizers when they take continents, or in the Haltmann's case, planets. Big red flags here, is the American education system that bad???

In order to justify killing an entire population to take their land, the colonizers convince themselves and others that "well the inhabitants are just savages anyways they wouldn't understand." This is what she means by "A harmonious family, and a happy life, are offered with the power of science… I’ll exterminate the savages under such principles!" Killing "savages" in the name of science is straight up some eugenicist shit I'm not kidding. And capitalism is associated with advancement of technology which means getting rid of what is outdated by capitalists standards. Such as a planet and its people lacking in hi-tech department for example. She isn't helping people y'all this is still the same capitalist from the previous game, just look at her dialogue in the second screenshot: "You natives need to be taught manners!"

This still is a bad localization, but unlike other parts of KSA I at least understand what the mindset was. "Okay she wants to exterminate the savages.... and those savages are the people in the way of her colonizing planets..... oh so she's colonizing planets." That's still a different meaning from the og text, but even the person that were given what seems like 30 seconds to translate this at least understood the wider implication.

All that said, ultimately this dialogue is just set up for a punchline. Consistent in her writing is her complete and utter lack of empathy and juxtaposing her cherry attitude with her bad behavior. In the first dialogue blurb I reference she acts as if her turning MK into her slave was her doing him a favor and she thinks this completely unironically; she is crazy and that's the joke. Bad people never think they are the villains; Susie thought she helping people when really she's killing innocents and that's the joke. This game series is inherently silly I don't know how people can miss this.

Then there is the menu animation thing where MK runs away in fear and Susie chases him. These are even more canonically dubious but it's the one example of the games referencing the two together after Planet Robobot. If they were supposed to both be on good terms you'd think the one time they can comment on their relationship status that then they'd be all buddy-buddy. But that isn't what they went with, the animation is there to say that MK (and even DMK) is afraid of Susie.

I'd like to point out that while it's easy to completely dismiss this as a "cute reference", there was still thought put into this. The people that created this had to think about what makes the most sense for these characters based on what information we already know. They didn't come to that conclusion based on nothing.

Alright the big question; does MK forgive Susie at the end of Robobot? Or ever? The end of the game has MK fly his ship near Star Dream where Kirby and Susie happen to be, nods to Kirby, Kirby nods back, and then they fly away leaving Susie behind. Some people have took this as MK forgiving Susie because. Uh. He doesn't acknowledge her? What is that the mindset here, that because he doesn't got out of his way to say "Susie you suck" that means they are on good terms? No, what's happening is there is a giant computer about to take over the galaxy, and MK doesn't acknowledge Susie because the evil murder robot is more important at the moment.

A problem with the series recently is that its had pretty ambitious story telling with little time to tell it. We probably won't figure out if Taranza moves on from Sectonia's death because *when* could they tell that story? TDX2? lol that was scrapped. Taranza certainly isn't popular enough to show up in a game collection to elaborate on his game's ending. We don't know if MK forgave Susie or held a grudge because the game doesn't have time to explore that unless it wants to ruin the pacing of the gameplay. The nature of the series is that after every game Dreamland basically resets, this is so that you can hop into any entry without needing context from previous titles to enjoy the current one. At most there will be references for older fans to gawk at, but the characters themselves live like they are in an episodic tv show. Next week all will back to normal to make a clean canvas for the next game. We can't have a game that follows up on the after effects on mechanization because we can't expect everyone to have played Planet Robobot. Plus the games barely have any time to properly establish the new story and characters, you think it has time to recap previous titles? We won't find out what the likes of Bonkers and Whispey think about the whole being turned into a robot thing because of this.

But the people that worked on Star Allies had the opportunity to at least comment on the effects it had on MK, even if it was in the form of a simple easy-to-miss animation. They had to think to themselves what do we know about these characters and in this one opportunity we can comment on what their current status is, how would they react. Thought was put into this.

Well, MK just isn't a very open guy for one thing. Like, him being quiet and mysterious is his whole gimmick. Even if the games were more story heavy, MK isn't the type to waltz into a room and announce how he's feeling. He's also normally in a high position of power; be it leading the Halberd or defeating the likes of Galacta Knight. He fights back the possession during Epic Yarn, and afterwards infamously says "Kirby, forgive me! I blame the yarn!" He is very clearly embarrassed by the ordeal lol. By KATFL he's so sick of being possessed that he just escapes Fecto's grasp through sheer will. In PR he's shown to be very stiff and lifeless in his Mecha Knight animations, devoid of any personality. We don't see him struggle like in Epic Yarn, but the fact that the mechanization has that strong of a hold on him that he can't fight it back is much scarier than the yarn thing. He would be at least a little shook from having that power suddenly taken from him, and he has been established to not like being mind controlled. And we know the guy is stubborn, he will not admit he's losing a fight and stick to the very end. Even if Susie tried to get on better terms with him, he'd hold a grudge for having bested him. In KF2 he still holds a grudge against freaking Kirby for always beating him for Pete's sake. This isn't proof the guy is traumatized or whatever that title goes to Zan, but he is said to have an ego streak in Star Allies, and the whole turned into a cyborg against your will thing would bruise your ego. So yeah, I think it makes complete sense that MK would try to avoid Susie. Go figure the people that work on these characters for their job understand them inside and out.

Now even ignoring all of this, I see people say well it's so open to interpretation what happens that I just hc Susie as getting better and MK forgiving her anyways.

Okay, prove it. Where's this story you have where this happens. Where is this content. I have not seen a single metasusie fan commit to this slow burn growing for the better and learning to forgive narrative, they just hop right into the romance. I have seen stories where Susie tries to better herself, sometimes MK forgives her and sometimes he doesn't, and none of those were done to justify shipping the two. They were stories that existed to explore the character (hell the only one with shipping had FranSoos) While I have argued here that Susie has never shown the willingness to change at all, at least the people that disagree have made some impressive art expressing why they think otherwise. The fact that I haven't seen metasusie fans actually do that and instead charge straight first into generic married couple shit tells me they don't actually care about the narrative where they grow as people and just say that's what they hc as a justification for the ship. You aren't exploring these characters you just want fluffy shit, and if that's all you care about just say that.

"Why can't you just let people have fun."

fffffffffffffff The main reason why I made this thing despite keeping quiet on other shit in this fandom I don't like, is because this pairing pushes sexist ideas rather the shippers intended this or not (and the vast majority of the time they don't). Making the two a happy-go-lucky couple downplays the abuse MK endured, and by extension rips Susie of her agency.

I am not saying MK suffered the equivalent of real world domestic abuse, he is literally a blueberry man that was made into a cool transformer when he didn't want that. But, there is more evidence to support that MK didn't like being robotized than there is saying he was okay with it. If the game explicitly supported the idea that he is fine and even forgives her, that would be a different story. But as established he's either indifferent at best or scared of her at worst. What is happening is that the media says that he suffered a bad thing, and people react to it by showing him fine and dandy despite that. Let's play a game. It's called "a man kidnaps a woman and forces her to do everything he says rather she wants to or not; is this scenario fucked up". If you answered yes then congrats you won the game, if you answered no, welp. I don't what to do with you man. It's incredibly telling when I see people react viscerally to others that headcanon MK's experience as having went worse. The same people I see say "just let people have fun it's just hc" in regards to their fluffy owo metasusie ship freak the fuck out whenever they see an angsty MK was hurt by Susie hc and try to argue how wrong it is. If your headcanon that MK is okay with the robot thing is valid, then what makes the angstier hc's any less valid? What is wrong with people that sympathize with MK being stripped of his anatomy and forced to work for someone else and exploring that story? Taking the theming of dehumanization and further exploring it? I thought you just wanted to let people have fun! Gonna go out on a limb here and say some people don't like the idea that men can't take more abuse than women; that they have a double standard and seeing that take makes them reevaluate their minset. And also that headcanon conflicts with the idea that he can date Susie. Mostly the later, but smth smth no one is free from biases and those can show up anywhere even in depictions of anthropomorphic spheres.

Back to Susanna, a problem with the games with that she suffers little repercussions for her actions. She can't really grow as a character if she doesn't find out what she did was wrong. But if they wanted to just play the villain thing straight it's still kinda boring to see she barely struggles to get what she wants, wow she sure is quick to brush off losing Star Dream so quickly after all her hard work. This is reflected in fan work as well, people don't seem all that interested in discussing why what she did was bad unless it's among the lines of "she is evil incarnate and deserves to die". Very productive guys. Because the games never properly punish her for her bad deeds, and the fans jump straight into the romance shit without writing that character arc where she grows as a person that the games lack. And the end result is Susie is never punished for her actions, rather she's rewarded with the same man she dehumanized. No amount of "well I hc this" will change that, all you ever draw is shippy stuff, never the character growth, and what people remember is the visuals not your written hc's. All people will see is fanart of a villain who never learns and is even rewarded for her bad behavior. MK's tribulations are ignored for the sake of her. Again, if the games actually had her pay for her mistakes then everyone's understanding of the character would be that of someone that actually understands what is and isn't wrong, then the pairing would be less icky. But that isn't the case, and the fandom isn't going to change that perspective anytime soon because it doesn't have the influence the official media nor does it care all that much about that narrative to begin with.

I've seen some defenders of the ship say that it only gets so much hate because people are weird about Susie. Now the people that say this will lump together actual haters with people who have legitimate criticisms, but yes as referenced above people are very weird about Susie. Like some people just despise this fictional woman, and she's clearly a bad person but she's a villain that's the point? Calm down. I know it might seem like *I* hate Susie because I've written 1000 words detailing why she's an awful person, but actually that's why I love her. All that dialogue I used to argue why she's awful? That shit is funny as hell! I'm sorry the hero of the story is boring; I'd much rather watch a villain giggle in glee, wine in hand from the comfort of their spooky castle as they watch the city burn underneath them. Susie would post a picture of her posing next to her latest victim with the description "feeling cute might delete later". She's that meme posing in a pool with someone drowning in the back. I don't think she's particularly well written, her backstory doesn't seem to have any affect on her and the game itself can't decide rather she's a straight up villain or morally ambiguous, but damn she's still so much fun. What she lacks in clear morals, she more than makes up for with plenty of personality! And seeing a horrible character suffer no repercussions for their bad actions and instead are congratulated with given a hot bf is obnoxious. But making a fun character boring? One of the worst sins you could commit. No I'm joking, but it is also super fucking telling that a good chuck of metasusie shippers are really just MK fanboys that only ever bring up Susie in relation to MK. And they ignore her war crimes to make her a sexy lamp that flirts with him and seemingly has no other ambitions. Like hating women is one thing, but women are people and people can be awful therefore women can be awful and let women be a bad bitch like Maleficent dammit. What I mean to say is; Susie isn't like some feminist icon, for one of like barely 10 plot important female characters she plays into a lot of basic stereotypes and the devs seem hesitant to actually punish her for her actions or have her grow to the extent of her male counterparts. But she's still an incredibly active character that can outsmart anybody (exception being the evil supercomputer which is fair) and takes matters into her own hands. In order to make Susie shippable you have to make her nicer, but this comes in the form of removing her smarts and her go getter attitude so that she becomes the ideal wife, and not only does she no longer resemble Susie, that's incredibly demeaning.

(Edit: I forgot to mention a lot of people will argue that depicting a female character as villainous to be an inherently bad thing. While it is true that there are some creators that hate women so much that every woman they write is some sort of evil temptress or whatever, this obviously doesn't mean that every fictional bad lady ever is inherently sexist for being evil. No not every depiction of Susie being mean is a result of someone that hates her, you can't deny that she's mean in canon at least at *sometimes*. Let women be bad bitches.)

TL:DR, The ship is bad. Planet Robobot makes a stance on the negative effects of capitalism, that because capitalism favors those at top it dehumanizes those below them. Meta Knight is a victim of this, and by saying it wasn't a problem you ignore the game's message for a ship. Susie isn't a particularly well written character, perhaps she was intended to be more sympathetic but the series doesn't do enough to show her trying to change for the better. The fans don't make up for this and treat her even weirder. If it was just those issues then it would just be a lame pairing, but the pair also emphasizes how the abuse men receive is undermined and how little people care about Susie being her own person. Also by posting this I lost a lot of followers lol

1. What inspired you to create your oc?

Ombra - Before I created them, I thought there should be a character like them in the MK universe. I mean someone with this appearance and personality. Also Ombra gives me the opportunity to project my creativity into my writings and drawings.

Gizem - I thought one of Ombra's family members should also be involved in their story. Someone close to them and with a somewhat similar personality. Plus, someone has to do the mechanical jobs in the SF, right?

Demiral - As I was working on Ombra's story, I realized that Metalrealm definitely has had a protector who plays a significant role in Ombra's and others' story.

5. What kind of abilities and power level does your oc have? Why did you give them their powers? What's the in-universe reason?

Ombra - They have the power to control and manipulate iron. I gave them this power since I wanted them to have a somewhat unique set of abilities. Also I thought it's pretty cool.

The in-universe is that Ombra is half-metalrealmer, a race known as metal benders.

Gizem - She's capable of engineering high-tech armors and some kind of weapons such as guns. I gave her this skill so she could be the brain behind SFs combat facilities.

Demiral - He's the god of all metals and societies. He technically has the advanced version of Ombra's power beside protecting societies' fates and harmony. I also wanted him to be a distinct type of god in MK universe.

7. Does your oc have any notable skills or good personality traits? Why did you give them those traits? Why do they exist in-universe?

Ombra - Well, their power make them considerably strong and powerful. Beside that, they can be a shoulder for you to cry on, they're understanding and is humorous. There isn't a particular reason for this; maybe because I pictured them to be like this. The in-universe reason is that they partially inherited these traits from their mother and that they were born in a tough society.

Gizem - She's pretty good at mathematics, is a people guy, and is very loyal. The reason is somewhat the same as Ombra's.

Demiral - Oh god, he's freaking powerful, is veryy kind and thoughtful, takes care of you no matter what, and has a pretty vast knowledge. He's a god after all.

15. How does your oc interact with the canon narrative? What about it do they change?

Ombra - They're considered to be a morally gray person since they have interacted and worked with all the realms' factions. Some characters trust them despite being aware of this fact, some are just not enemies with them but still have their guards up, and a lot of them despise them.

Gizem - The characters defending earthrealm are allies with her, trsting her with her skills. Other characters are pretty neutral to her as long as she doesn't harm them personally. However, there have been some people who had tried to eliminate her in order to damage SF's engineering system.

Demiral - Well, this man has multiple allies and numerous enemies. You can easily guess which ones are his comrades.

20. Share a random piece of trivia about the creation of your oc. Examples: scrapped ideas or changes you didn't expect to make.

Ombra - They were first supposed to be Schizophernic.

Gizem - They are inspired by a irl person I know.

Demiral - The first version of his name was "Demir". Then I added the "Al".

Explaining the Iceberg #8

In which the theories get worse as you delve deeper. (some content is cut because it’s not appropriate/something I would want to discuss)

Coldharbour/Clockwork Tamriel: Coldharbour has many locations that resemble Tamriel, and often are outright taken from it. C0Da seems to indicate Sotha Sil’s final goals for the clockwork city is to recreate and ‘perfect’ Tamriel.

The Crimson Ship: During the Knahaten Flu, the Kothringi were hit particularly hard, and the Crimson Ship was full of refugees trying to find a new home. They were turned away at every port, until reaching Hammerfell. After being turned away once again, they sailed out to sea. Some years later, pirates found the ship full of corpses.

Storming of the citadel: Unsure of this, the wording is too general. It could possibly refer to the Morrowind Mainquest, when you take back the profane tools, A Covenant quest in Elder Scrolls Cnline, or the Main quest in Elder Scrolls Online

Altmeri formwars: Mentioned in an MK short story. Possibly a war from a previous Kalpa that involved the Dreugh

King of Worms = The Underking: Both are liches, both are undead, that’s about it. May stem from initial confusion of MK saying there were ‘multiple underkings’ when he meant there were multiple copies of the same person in the dragon break.

500 companions were dragons: the 500 mighty companions, an obscure text calls at least one of the companions a dragon, and some of the names were draconic sounding.

Dreamer can’t wake up: Straight from the mouth of MK, this might mean ‘the Godhead isn’t literal’ or it might literally mean, the universe can’t cease to be because the Godhead just stops.

Mortal Kombat: Biggest Changes the Movie Makes to the Games

This article contains spoilers for Mortal Kombat.

The Mortal Kombat movie may be one of the first true blockbusters of 2021, but for millions of fans of the games, it’s also another chance to “get it right.” Sure, 1995’s is a somewhat underrated live-action adaptation of a video game, but its irredeemable sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, left many fans doubting that we’d ever see another big-budget live-action Mortal Kombat movie much less one that comes close to capturing what makes the games special.

You can read our review of the film itself for a better look at how close the new movie comes to accomplishing that lofty goal, but suffice to say, the movie makes a lot of changes to the games it’s based on. Some of those changes were almost inevitable given the transition between storytelling mediums, while others are more…debatable.

While there are a lot of little differences longtime Mortal Kombat fans will spot in the movie, these are the biggest ways the movie changes the universe of the games.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero’s Origins and Rivalry

We’ve covered this more extensively elsewhere, but the most popular version of the Sub-Zero/Scorpion rivalry as it’s portrayed in the games involves the sorcerer Quan Chi whose task pits Sub-Zero and Scorpion (who are members of rival clans) directly against each other. Sub-Zero kills Scorpion while trying to complete that assignment, but Quan Chi resurrects Scorpion after making him believe that Sub-Zero killed his family and clan.

The Mortal Kombat movie cuts through some of that by suggesting that Sub-Zero and Scorpion are simply members of rival clans and that Sub-Zero did actually kill Scorpion’s family. It also cuts Quan Chi out of Scorpion’s resurrection. The idea that Sub-Zero is directly responsible for those deaths could close the door on a future storyline where Sub-Zero’s brother and Scorpion unite to get revenge on Quan Chi, but streamlining this particular plot point makes a bit of sense when you consider that adding Quan Chi to the movie would have only added another piece to an already busy film.

The Reason For Jax’s Mechanical Arms

Again, we’ve covered this story before (in a great article you really should read), but Jax has lost his arms in a variety of ways over the years across Mortal Kombat’s various games, timelines, and adaptations.

However, none of those stories involved Sub-Zero ripping off Jax’s arms, which is pretty much what happens in the movie. Given that the story of how Jax lost his arms has changed so much over the years, it’s hard to blame the movie’s writers for not sticking to an existing story. Besides, making Sub-Zero responsible for the incident is a nice way to tie two of the bigger characters in the movie together.

How Mortal Kombat’s Fighters Are Chosen

In the Mortal Kombat games, people participate in the tournament for various reasons. For instance, Johnny Cage joins the tournament to prove he’s more than an actor who relies on stunts and effects, while Liu Kang joins as a fighter trained to protect Earth. There’s really no universal explanation for how people get there.

The movie tries to offer such a universal explanation by not only suggesting that fighters are chosen by fate but that you can become one of the fighters by killing an already chosen participant. That idea is already becoming one of the film’s most contentious changes as some ask whether the whole concept is just one plot point too many.

The “Arcana” Explanation

Why do characters in the Mortal Kombat games have special powers? The storyline explanations vary. Some were born with those powers, while others acquired them through mechanical enhancements or gifts from the gods. Mostly, though, giving characters powers was just a way to spice up the original arcade game’s special moves.

In one of the biggest departures from the games, the MK movie suggests that Earthrealm’s warriors have to unlock the “Arcana” ability within them. We’re going to cover a couple of the more specific instances of this explanation deviating from the games in a big way, but it’s worth highlighting the fact that this idea of Earthrealm warriors needing to unlock the Arcana within them was never really mentioned in the games. It’s a very “Midi-chlorian” way to approach the whole idea.

Sonya Blade’s Powers

Again, we could spend quite a bit of time talking about the many ways the Arcana concept changes the video game versions of Mortal Kombat‘s biggest characters, but Sonya Blade is one of the most interesting and notable examples of such a deviation. As those who saw the MK movie know, Sonya gets her powers when she kills Kano, becomes one of the tournament’s chosen fighters, and unlocks her Acana ability.

How did she get those abilities in the game? It’s a little muddy in the beginning, but later entries in the series suggest that her abilities are based on mechanical creations rather than an inherent power. The idea of Sonya having a device attached to her arms that allows her to shoot projectiles really seemed to be part of an effort to help explain her otherwise unexplainable abilities in the original games, but it was a pretty effective way to do just that.

Kano’s Eye

The origin of Kano’s “laser eye” in the Mortal Kombat games is really pretty simple. Kano suffered massive damage to his eye in a battle against Jax and had a mechanical plate and enhanced eye grafted on to cover the affected area. That eye so happened to grant Kano the ability to fire a laser beam as well as access several enhanced modes of vision.

The Mortal Kombat movie not only suggests that Kano’s physical trauma was caused by Reptile (more on that in a bit) but that Kano’s ability to shoot a laser from his eye is part of his Arcana ability. It’s an…interesting deviation that is arguably the most unnecessary of all the Arcana plot points as Kano’s eye was one of those pieces of lore that was explained in the games fairly early on and has since become one of the character’s defining physical qualities.

Sonya Blade: Exposition Machine

In one of the movie’s stranger moments, Sonya Blade lays out a sizable bit of lore as she explains the concept of the Mortal Kombat tournament to Cole Young and helps him understand what it means to be chosen. She doesn’t have all the details, but what she does know is described as the result of a lengthy investigation.

This is another one of those instances of plot convenience, as there’s no early version of Sonya Blade in the games who is so well-informed about the tournament. In fact, in both the original game and the 2011 “reboot,” Sonya stumbles upon the tournament in progress while hunting Kano.

Reptile’s Design

I told you we’d get to Reptile. In the games, Reptile is a humanoid/reptilian ninja who is loyal to Outworld’s rulers and Shang Tsung. He is typically described as a gifted assassin and warrior.

The Mortal Kombat movie keeps some of those traits but strangely portrays Reptile as little more than a giant lizard. While it’s true that Reptile’s in-game humanoid attributes largely hide his “lizard” form, most of the games portray him as a creature with a somewhat human physical structure. Actually, one of the only MK games to show Reptile as a pure “creature” was Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and that design was not exactly well-received by many fans.

The Mortal Kombat Tournament’s Rules

While it probably seems like the Mortal Kombat tournament is basically a free-for-all, many versions of the tournament seen throughout the games do adhere to some basic rules. One of the most important MK rules says that you can’t attack another realm’s fighters prior to the tournament and that a violation of that rule could mean having to deal with the wrath of the Elder Gods.

The movie throws a lot of that out of the window. It does mention that rules exist, and it rightfully suggests that not everyone plays by them, but at some point, everyone seems to ignore the whole tournament concept altogether in favor of just killing each other. Meanwhile, the Raiden stands by and lends little help despite seemingly being able to step in and start smacking the cheaters around as soon as the rules were broken.

Liu Kang’s Origin Story

From the very first game, Liu Kang has been portrayed as an incredibly skilled warrior who stands as one of Earthrealm’s most capable defenders. The details of his origin have been played with over the years, but there’s long been the idea that he was one of the Earthrealm participants who has trained for this moment for quite some time.

The movie doesn’t stray from that story too wildly compared to other reworked origins, but it adds a couple of wrinkles by suggesting that Liu Kang was once a down-and-out orphan and that he “earned” his place in the tournament by killing a child smuggler who had the mark on him. The change seemed to be a way to explain how Liu Kang got his powers in the film’s universe and joined this version of the tournament, but it’s another one of those aspects of the movie which was perhaps overthought and creates a few character complications that aren’t quite resolved.

Cole Young: Scorpion’s Descendant

By now, you probably know that Cole Young was a character created specifically for the Mortal Kombat movie and doesn’t exist in the games. If you want to know a little more about the meta reasons for the character’s creation, I highly recommend checking out this article.

What’s fascinating, though, is that the movie goes on to reveal that Cole Young is one of Scorpion’s descendants. Scorpion’s children have been featured in previous MK works, but they typically don’t appear in anything more substantial than a flashback or vision. The whole idea of Scorpion’s descendants living on through the years creates questions the movie doesn’t necessarily answer. If anything, that idea feels like a play on a moment in MK 11 when Scorpion confronts his younger self and convinces him to defend Earthrealm.

The Elder Gods were the ruling deities and creators of the universe, only being overshadowed by entities such as the Titans or the One Being. Unlike Titans, whose powers are linked to the governing laws of reality, such as time, the Elder Gods' powers are more related to physical concepts such as life/death and the elements, such as fire, water, wind, earth, etc. Whereas other Gods only have jurisdiction over a single realm and typically represent an element, the Elder Gods are more ethereal and have power in all realms in the universe. The natural born Elder Gods have blue-gray skin and a humanoid appearance. In their purest form, the Elder Gods resembles the Mortal Kombat Dragon logo.

The exact extent of their powers remains unclear, but they do not appear to be as omnipotent as they seemed in the early games in the series, as they are capable of being defeated nonetheless. Regardless, they remain the most powerful class of beings outside of the Titans, with only the most exceptional of mortals or lesser gods even hoping to challenge them (like Scorpion with Raiden in MKX comics).

Technically speaking, Shinnok is one of the highest-ranking gods of all time, but he still often gets beaten down by lesser gods and even mortals like Johnny Cage. Obviously, it seems as though one's divine status does not immediately equate to combat prowess (contrary to one's assumptions). But it also appears that there's a reason for this minor quirk in the Mortal Kombat series' logic. Not only does it explain all the non-canon matches that happen when one player picks a human and another picks a deity, but it lets NetherRealm build up the Mortal Kombat lore and involve more characters in the stories of their games. After all, there is actually a set hierarchy of gods that the games don't always flesh out.

Raiden and Fujin are presumably the lowest of the low when it comes to fully-divine entities, and to express this, NetherRealm started referring to them as demigods in MK11. However, this is strictly to denote hierarchy. It has nothing to do with them being half-god and half-human, as the tradition use of the would would convey.

Another key aspect of the MK pantheon to understand is that each level of the hierarchy comes with specific responsibilities. Obviously, the One Being is busy embodying all of existence at once, while Titans tend to embody the most abstract forces that exist in the universe. Kronika, for example, embodies time. Meanwhile, Elder Gods are about lesser qualities, such as life and death. Finally, the demigods always embody base natural forces, such as thunder or wind.

Here are character descriptions for both Raiden and Fujin;

Immortal God of Thunder, Protector of Earthrealm. Raiden has saved Earthrealm time and again by rallying the bravest and strongest warriors of the day to defend it. After centuries of kombat and bloodshed, he fears unintended consequences for humanity, and himself.

The God of Wind, Fujin serves the Elder Gods alongside his brother, Raiden, as Protectors of Earthrealm. Affable and lighthearted, he’s adept at inspiring peoples’ innate capacity for goodness and heroism to conquer forces of hatred and tyranny. Fujin believes Earthrealm’s best days are still to come, and he fights to ensure that bright future.

For my portrayal of Fujin, Raiden and Fujin did not ascend from their mortal status; just as Cetrion and Shinnok were ‘birthed’ from Kronika’s being, not giving ‘birth’ like the mortals would, but merely creating them out of the Titan’s need, both Raiden and Fujin were ‘created’ by the Elder Gods, to serve at the Pantheon, to serve the humanity at large. Despite their own trials and tribulations, even with their immortality, they face such relatable vices, as Raiden does with his own darkness, as he would take no qualms of risking his being to be consumed by the forces of evil in order to get the work done. Fujin would NOT ever blame Raiden for it, because it’s the consequence that they both are risking.

Even when Fujin suffers severe exsanguination via impalement and near-death because Raiden had been corrupted by Kamidogu, Fujin would never hold against his brother, for he’s witnessed multitudes of times how humankind could subjugate easily into darkness and vices, and make them blind.

Ever since Fujin’s creation, the Storm Brothers have been strenuously training at the Sky Temple, keeping in check with their elemental capabilities and up-keeping the Jinsei Chamber. They frequently train the Earthrealm warriors, not limited to White Lotus, as they both get hands-on with both Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei, specifically both (as Raiden’s intro suggests, and Fujin’s friendship with Hanzo).

While Fujin is a natural when it comes to the emotions of others, his own feelings can be a bit different. It’s challenging for him to really processing his own feelings a lot of the time, since he is so used to tending to the needs of others. When it comes to his inner emotions, the Wind God can feel rather uneasy about really processing these feelings. It can make him nervous when he has to dive into his own emotions and try to understand himself better in this way. Raiden, despite the inhibited essence of his own emotions, is one whom Fujin will rely on with no qualms whatsoever. They are so natural and can also use the emotions of others to deflect from focusing on their own feelings. Because of their roles as Protectors of Earthrealm, they can become so caught up in caring for those around them, and so actually tending to their own feelings can be challenging and confusing.

Being used to caring for others causes Fujin to feel stressed when someone wants him to focus inward, unless he is intimately closed and linked with such in trust and devotion. This is foreign to him most of the time, and can feel selfish as well. When it comes to really diving into his own feelings, Fujin can feel like this is selfish and will try to avoid it as much as possible. For him, it is more comfortable to tend to others and so he can be deeply hesitant when it comes to his inner emotions. It can be confusing for him sometimes when he is forced into self-reflection, since this is new territory for him (but people like Raiden, - because of their close proximity and eons of time spent with one another - Jax Briggs and Hanzo Hasashi definitely help him to contemplate his own emotions, without feeling too guilty).

When it comes to being able to empathize with others, Fujin finds this rather natural and easy. He has a strong sense of the emotions of others, and are easily capable of putting himself into their shoes. He wants to be able to connect with people and understand them, and he enjoys getting closer to people he cares for and likes. When it comes to empathy, Fujin often has this in abundance, sometimes it can actually be overwhelming for them. He gets a strong sense of the emotions of others, and when people are upset, Fujin has a hard time just ignoring this. He is extremely perceptive when it comes to Raiden’s status - not only through the physical and tangible abnormalities - but his mental stability as well. They both know when each other is unhappy and want to do whatever they can to help them.

Fujin doesn’t like feeling discord or tension and so he spends a lot of time trying to create peace and make others happy. For him, it is hard to just ignore when he can tell someone is upset, no matter the circumstances. This sense of empathy can be difficult at times, since not everyone wants him to be aware of their feelings and struggles.

Connecting Dots to find the Truth (MPD/DID)...

Finding Patterns, connecting the Dots in Our Landscape…

As an adult and a man enjoying the company of women from across America. Any individual will tell you, crazy makes for more dynamic liaisons. Even with my diminished psy-abilities (due to my “locking” much of them away), what I saw inside the minds of my Lovers painted a disturbing picture. No matter where they were from, the “dots” as it were connected repeatedly in similar fashion. A fact that meant the damage to their psyches, minds, souls and bodies caused in early childhood trauma had a common source. Not only a common source but a very well thought out and devised series of protocols with the intended purpose of creating MPD/DID individuals. I freely admit to indulging my own hedonist nature with the adult ladies who consented to carnal relations with me. Bit by bit, I found the means to circumvent the access coding and command structures that have for millennia allowed the Jinn’s or Mages to control their victims. Even keeping their actions and alt identities hidden from questioning eyes or interrogations. Qualities that these practices and associated systems of control prompted their adoption by our Military Industrial Complex. The Initiatives/Programs adopted by our Military fell under Psychological Operations commonly referred to as PsyOps. Eventually coming under the command of Lt. Colonial Micheal Acquino. An infamous character who along with Anton LaVey started the Church of Satan back in the day. Even more infamous the MK Ultra mind control experiments are the associated application of the Scientific Model to the age old practices of “acolyte” training or the creation of “Golems” (see my previous posting on Golems).

As I stumbled through the years, increasingly becoming a thorn in the side of the “families” who in conjunction with the “Shadow Government” that functions in association with and as an extension of our ligament Government’s Intelligence Community, including those of the Military Industrial Complex. As well as the “Blood Occultic Families”, essentially the “Luciferian Families” that indirectly and or directly run the world. Since all trauma based practices require family involvement to re-enforce conditioning, preferably multi-generational to be effective. As with all dynamic relationships, my interactions eventually reached a critical series of events in 1998. When a government psychiatrist became aware that I could and had direct access to their trauma based operatives and their alts. When the aforementioned Acquino received notification of such a breech, he ordered operations world-wide shut down and revamped. Beginning 120 days later the programs associated with trauma based conditioning began to come back into operation. Those within the intelligence community may recall intelligence operations being interrupted during this time period. Now you know why.

As a consequence regrettably all trauma based participants, I prefer the term victims, are now tortured and traumatized 10 to 20 times worse than ever in the histories associated with the practice of MPD/DID trauma induced mind control. So much so that as a by-product it has become increasingly accepted for persons to use the pronoun they/them as testimony to the tidal wave of ever increasing victims in our society. Even world-wide! Something Unexpected

Thank you for reading my fanfics! I come here with another small fanfic that involves Magic Kaito 1412, MCU and detective Conan! My previous Au of a crossover with MCU and MK/DC world was liked so I thought abut this and ever since the movie 23 was out I’ve been trying to write it in this AU. I’m still mourning the loss of Irom Man so..yeah it was kinda hard coming to write this when I felt really down when thinking about Tony...so without further ado I leave this here to see if you guys like it. Somewhere far away a man was staring out the window admiring the breathtaking sunrise of his home. He would never get tired of rising and admiring such a beautiful view. Sure, they had made this room fir for a king, filled to the brim with luxuries, the last technology, and a wardrobe bigger than what he would like but the view it was before him each morning. Well, nothing would ever compare to mother nature’s beautiful creations.

After a bath and a change of clothes, the most modest he could find, he got ready to face the day. He had may things to do according to the agenda he was provided and approved by his most trusted advisor along with his mother making sure he would be able to take breaks and eat properly. Also, a meeting with the rest of his friends wouldn’t go amiss ever since that incident concerning the Avenger’s split and his adventure where he had to fight for the throne of this country.

Sighing he took his coffee as he ate the breakfast, his mother already gone to start the day helping him and enjoying herself, and his sister that probably was somewhere in her lab messing up with her newest inventions. Changing some channels as he supervised some reports from his guards and issues to assess with the council and his alarm made him stop when the channel changed into what looked a Breaking news segment.

“As we can observe, the explosion inside Marina Bay Sands in Singapore was reported as an incident that might be related to the recent homicide of Sherilyn Tan, a famous lawyer,” the female reporter said as the images passed on the right corner of the TV as T’Challa changed into another news channel, the same images passing through.

“The police are still investigating but so far they have confirmed the use of explosives in the are of the parking lot along with some generator that caused a blackout in the shopping center” A blonde male American host explained in the news as the photo of Marina Bay Sands appeared in the TV. Soon it was changed into another channel.

Images of the incident and recent murder victims were displayed, several videos from security cameras before the blackout were reproduced showing the moments before the explosion and the panic got a hold of the people along with the pictures some of the news were able to obtain through helicopters and other media. Underneath them, over a red single string cutting the Image a small resume of the news was written in English, Malay, and Chinese.

“Breaking News! It seems the police are dubbing Kaito Kid as the perpetrator and responsible for this …” A young woman was reading the paper but she no longer had a voice.

The TV was on mute, T’Challa with a frown on his face as he walked outside the room. The plans for going for a small travel weren’t going to be something the council would approve of but surely, he could make the understand. After all, this was an important matter that required being assessed to as fast as he could.

“Brother!” a female voice interrupted his thoughts as his sister opened the doors with a dramatic flair “have you seen the news? They blame Kaito for those bombs and the murder!”

T’challa nodded, his frown prominent and deep in thought. He had been fairly sure one of the members of the avengers had made contact with the boy. Kaito was not a murderer, and he would never taint his father’s name either.

When he had met the boy, he had believed Fury to be jesting on his abilities, but oh how on spot Fury had been. Kaito was someone worthy of carrying the title of an Avenger even if he didn’t wish for the world to be known as one. He already won the trust and respect of all of them in some way and form. So, watching this, he could say without a doubt that something was up.

And knowing him, well, Kaito would find a way to get himself tangled in the mess to bring justice.

“Contact Kaito, Shuri,” T’challa said as he walked up to the throne room, signaling for the members to be called “and make preparations for a small trip to Singapore, after all, we should represent Wakanda with the best we have”

Shuri stopped as she pouted. She knew what his brother was going to do and she would be alone staying at the hotel. She would just stay in Wakanda to be safe and away from those unnecessary dangers.

“Sure, I’ll book you, Nakia and Okoye along with the Dora Milaje” she sighed, his brother was not going to take her “you go on and save Kaito from this mess”

As she walked towards the lab already writing a message and contacting the Dora Milaje T´challa stopped her with another announcement, his voice loud in the hallway and a smile on his lips.

“Shuri!” T´challa smiled when his sister turned to watch him “WE are going to help Kaito out of this mess”

“YES!” Shuri fist-bumped excitedly understanding his statement “I get to see Kaito! Oh, I’m going to tell mother!”

Shuri smiled as with a new renewed vigor she arranged their stay in Singapore.

Yes, this was going to be some long days, but they would be worth it. She even expected their mother to be on board this time, she also had a soft spot for the Japanese teen. It had been ages since they both had seen each other and she couldn’t wait to meet him again. Thinking about what they could do together she smiled and giggled, knowing how Kaito would love to train with her brother and Okoye, maybe show her some magic tricks and cook for them. She couldn’t wait to see what chaos both of them could bring over as they could experiment if she took her small lab to the hotel. It would be so much fun!

151. Sonic the Hedgehog #85

The Big Payback

So Eggman is quite peeved that Sonic stopped his plans to destroy Station Square via ancient water monster. However, he has a plan to get back at Sonic - and as with many of his previous plans, it involves a robotic duplicate of his archnemesis…

Sonic and the Freedom Fighters are in Station Square, which is in the midst of trying to clean up the mess left by the attack, being thanked and awarded by the mayor for saving their city. Suddenly, the ceremony is interrupted by the appearance of Silver Sonic II, which is significantly smaller in size than its original counterpart.

Sonic leads his robotic nemesis on a wild goose chase across the city to draw fire away from the innocents at the ceremony. Big snags Silver Sonic II's leg with his fishing rod, and Tails tries to attack it while it's stuck, but he gets knocked aside into Big as the mecha breaks free and continues its pursuit of its quarry. Sonic and it finally crash through a window into the ground level of a building that's been structurally compromised by the flood, something Silver Sonic II uses to its advantage.

The building falls on top of them both, and Eggman, watching from his base, cackles, knowing that Silver Sonic II is sturdy enough to survive such an impact. The Freedom Fighters desperately dig into the rubble only to find a hole in the ground beneath it, indicating that Sonic dug his way to safety through the ground. As he pops back out and continues to fight the robot, Nicole, Sally and Nate try to discern its potential weaknesses.

Damn, if Eggman somehow found an infinite power supply, why did he waste it on one measly little robot? You'd think he'd insert that into an Ultimate Annihilator Mk. II or something and get to work erasing existence. Sonic is shaken free from Silver Sonic II midair, and when Tails catches him, Silver Sonic II straight up jettisons his own foot into Tails' head as payback. Sonic becomes enraged at seeing his friend knocked out by the long-range kick, and this gives him enough strength to deal the final blow against his foe.

What indeed? Eggman certainly doesn't seem too fazed by Silver Sonic II's loss, as he installed a homing beacon in it for this very possibility, and intends to simply wait until the Freedom Fighters leave the city unattended and then waltz in to fix up his robot and get to conquerin'. However, the Freedom Fighters certainly don't seem too worried, leaving the city after saying goodbye to Big, who's heading back to the Mysterious Cat Country with Froggy in tow, and they hop in their aircraft only for it to immediately begin to careen out of control.

Sally orders Sonic and Tails to do some reconnaissance for signs of life nearby (why, I have no idea - they crashed like not even a mile from Station Square from the looks of it), and shoots Amy down when she tries to ask to go along. Nate, inspecting the damage, finds it to be the result of sabotage, and while he worries about who may have done it (the idea that it may have been, you know, Eggman, or the robot they were just fighting, doesn't seem to cross his mind), Eggman himself waltzes straight into the city like he didn't just try to murder everyone in it. Somehow he doesn't get immediately arrested on the street, and instead he finds his robot as planned - only Silver Sonic II is already repaired, and has been reprogrammed by Nate to serve as Station Square's loyal protector from now on! That's actually some damn good thinking on his part. Amusingly, Eggman races out with his former creation on his heels while shouting that "Payback is such a glitch!" which is maybe the closest this comic has come to actually swearing so far.

Writer: Karl Bollers Pencils/Colors: Diamond Rose Studios

The art in this issue is really bizarre, for some reason - it's credited in its entirety to "Diamond Rose Studios," without elaborating on who actually worked on what, and the art style, particularly the shading, is pretty noticeably different from the style of other artists for the comic. If anything, it comes across much more like amateur work you might find on DeviantArt rather than official art for a licensed video game comic. But hey, it's not bad art, so no real problem here. Oh, and Rotor's finally back! It's been so long since we've seen him… *checks back* twenty-four issues, in fact! We unfortunately find him now in a nasty predicament - his bathysphere is taking on water fast, and he's not having any success radioing for help. He thinks back on how his last few months have been - shortly after he left to find his family, he indeed found them safe and sound with the help of the Arctic Freedom Fighters.

This issue seems to take place just shortly after Eggman's return, because Rotor recounts how just recently his family all fell under the mind control spell again, once more trying to kill him and forcing him to run for his life in his bathysphere, which was then damaged, leaving him stranded in his current predicament. Honestly, I have to point out right now that the timeline of these early eras is aaaall over the place. Issues are constantly throwing out random amounts of time, claiming that X amount of months have passed between this event and that event, only to claim a different amount of time between similar events over here and there. I mean, I got the initial impression that Robotnik had only died a maximum of maybe five months before Eggman's arrival, and yet here Rotor is claiming it had been nearly a year? Then on top of that he apparently spent months hanging out with his family in the North Sea, easily making it over a year since Robotnik's death - and yet the timeline of StH#72 and beyond clearly indicates that mere days passed in between his leaving and Eggman's return, yet here he is, claiming to have spent months with his family unmarred by any negative circumstances. Even if you argue that maybe the mind control was a delayed effect and only started back up right around now during the Chaos fiasco, the early issues of this era seem to indicate that not more than a few weeks have passed between Eggman's arrival and the Sonic Adventure adaption - this is his first evil world domination plot since his return, after all. What I'm saying is that the amounts of time that various issues claim have passed between most of these key events just don't line up with each other at all, so you really have to take any character's claim of months or years between events with a gigantic grain of salt. I don't know why they didn't put more effort into maintaining a consistent "schedule" if you will of events, if only for consistency's sake, but then again this bothers me probably more than most, just because I have a strong need for narrative consistency in my own stories. It's just another one of those odd plot holes that we kind of have to ignore to get anywhere.

Rotor, having finished with his chronologically-impossible recounting of previous events, realizes that the water leaking into his bathysphere is coming entirely too close to a mass of live wires, and makes the decision to abandon ship, preferring to risk a long swim back to the surface.

Well, at least these friendly fellas have got his back. Hopefully we'll see more of him back with the main Freedom Fighter chapter soon, because having him head off to find his family honestly felt like an excuse to just get rid of him as a character for a while, and I resent that, because Rotor is a big chubby bro and we deserve to see more of him being a badass sweetheart.

Fury from the Deepfake

Earlier this year, Doctor Who fans were treated to some rather exciting, yet strange news. Students at the University of Central Lancashire had started a film project re-creating the lost First Doctor episode "Mission to the Unknown." I say "First Doctor," lightly, as it's the only televised story of Doctor Who to never feature the Doctor. Because of this, and it being only a single episode, it seems an obvious candidate for re-creation. Not to badmouth any of the actors involved in the episode, but none of them are irreplaceable. Even without Nicolas Briggs giving the project some weight, no sacred cows would be in jeopardy. Nobody has to fill the shoes of William Hartnell or his two lovely companions.

When I covered the new animated version of "The Macra Terror," I discussed the importance of re-creations. While a small portion of the fandom dislikes the practice, most fans agree that they're a good thing. The re-creation has taken on many different forms throughout the years. Classic Comics compiled the tele-snaps of lost episodes with captions allowing readers to follow the story. The Target novelisation is a sort of re-creation. For some, they act as the only way to experience lost episodes. There are the unofficial reconstructions from videographers like Loose Cannon. YouTuber Josh Snares has been working on some rather promising reconstructions of his own as well. Many of the narrated TV soundtracks have recently been pressed to vinyl. While it seems as though BBC is really pushing their animations, are those the final form of the reconstruction?

If you'd have asked me before the UCLAN students' project, I may have said yes. Now, I'm not so sure. The BBC seems to have sanctioned the project. Doctor Who actors Peter Purves and Edward de Souza even showed up on set to give their blessing. There's not a lot known as to exactly what sort of release the project will receive. Perhaps the BBC will release it on the Doctor Who YouTube channel. Or maybe it will be a blu-ray extra in the near future. But which blu-ray? An animation of "The Dalek's Masterplan," perhaps? Regardless, I believe it opens the door for an entirely new kind of re-creation. Enter deepfake.

For those of you not in the know, deepfake is a somewhat new form of cgi that uses facial recognition software to swap out a person's face for another, to varying degrees of success. You may remember it from the uncanny video of Jennifer Lawrence with Steve Buscemi's face. While many people fear deepfake's impact on identity theft and national security, there's also an undeniable artistic implication. Facial swap technology has been around for years in various forms. As a concept, it cropped up in places like the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie "The Running Man." In 1994's "The Crow," Brandon Lee's face was swapped in after his tragic on-set death. With deepfake technology becoming more and more refined, it's also becoming cheaper and cheaper. Which is the point I'm here to make to the BBC- it doesn't cost much!

If you follow my logic, I'm sure you know where I'm going with this. What if we employed the methods of both the animations and the student film? What if the only thing an actor has to do is actually fill William Hartnell's shoes? Nobody has to recite his dialogue, they only need to be his body double. Deepfake can then follow the faces of actors mouthing the lines to the original soundtracks. With the same faithfulness to set design and filming that the students of UCLAN gave us, these episodes could see the light of day once more. Mind you, the sets would cost something, but weighed against the cost of animation, probably fairly comparable when you consider the budget of classic Who.

Let's face it, nothing will ever be as satisfying as the originals, but that's part of the fun of re-creating classic Doctor Who. It's a chance to be creative with the source material. But what about modern Doctor Who? How could deepfake impact the current series? There's no more obvious example than the 50th Anniversary special. While "The Day of the Doctor," was a critical success and loved by many (myself included) there is a glaring omission of the surviving Doctors. As I said in my article about older companions, the War Doctor was used as a sort of filler classic Doctor. Ironically, one of the show's biggest setbacks is time.

When they wheeled out DeForest Kelley, Leonard Nimoy, and William Shatner for six Star Trek films, there were no issues. But if you want to make a Voyager or Next Gen movie several years later, you have to explain why a hologram or an android got fat and old. Sure, Data could have upgraded with old age to feel more human, but we all know it's a dumb idea. While the Doctor is not an android or a hologram, they all regenerate. If Six regenerates with curly blonde hair (and Sylvester McCoy's face) then you can't see him with Colin Baker's wispy white hair. Though poor Peter Davison's weight and hair loss were explained by "time differentials" in "Time Crash."

In typical Doctor Who fashion, this multiple Doctor episode came with a caveat. Someone is always missing. It's funny then that the very technology I'm suggesting was used in the advert for "The Day of the Doctor." In a rather impressive sequence, we see several Doctors' faces on body doubles. We even get the closing shot of the episode where Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor joins his past incarnations to stand on a cloud. Sadly, the body doubles stood so still, I originally thought they were mannequins. (Gasp! Autons!)

It's inspiring to think that by 2023, Doctor Who will be celebrating 60 years in time and space. By then, it's entirely plausible that deepfake technology could get to a point where an episode like "The Fourteen Doctors," could happen. If we can replace William Hartnell with Richard Hurndall and David Bradley, or Matt Smith with Jacob Dudman, we can certainly replace Jon Pertwee with his son while a deepfake Second Doctor runs around with Fraiser Hines doing the lines. Doctor Who is a show that lends itself to these kinds of innovations. The very essence of this concept was instilled with the inspired concept of regeneration, or "renewal," as they called it back then.

I'll admit it, deepfake still looks pretty ropey, but so did most of the CGI in the Ninth Doctor's run. There are so many reasons why something like deepfake is perfect for Doctor Who. It's a chance outside of the comic books to see Jodie Whittaker running alongside Tom Baker and K9! We can create lost episodes. We can update missing scenes. There are multiple precedents within the show to look into the technology. We can finally do one better than ghoulishly sticking the Brigadier into a Cyberman suit. And if nothing else, we could finally get Christopher Eccleston back, sort of.

SO WHAT IS THE CIA PROJECT MK ULTRA?

Project MK Ultra, also called the CIA mind control program, is the code name given to a program of experiments on human subjects that were designed and undertaken by the United States Central Intelligence Agency—and which were, at times, illegal.

Experiments on humans were intended to identify and develop drugs and procedures to be used in interrogations in order to weaken the individual and force confessions through mind control. The project was organized through the Office of Scientific Intelligence of the CIA and coordinated with the U.S. Army Biological Warfare Laboratories.

The scope of Project MK Ultra was broad with research undertaken at 80 institutions, including colleges and universities, hospitals, prisons, and pharmaceutical companies. The CIA operated through these institutions using front organizations, although sometimes top officials at these institutions were aware of the CIA's involvement.

Project MK Ultra was first brought to public attention in 1975 by the Church Committee of the United States Congress and Gerald Ford's United States President's Commission on CIA activities within the United States. hi! what are your thoughts on Stranger Things? I've only just started watching so Idk how it turns out, but from what I can tell one of the characters has been abused by government as part of experiments and although this is a fictional story I can't stop thinking about how there is children who experience things like this which makes it really chilling. At one point there is a bief mention of mk ultra when the police are looking through old news articles related to the organization in question.

You are correct in that the show makes reference to MKUltra.

In Season One of Stranger Things, the MKUltra Project is directly referenced by Chief Hopper, once he discovers that the lead scientist and director of Hawkins National Laboratory, Dr. Brenner, had worked on MKUltra, prior to its being shut down. Similarities to MKUltra in the show include the laboratory setting, the sensory deprivation chamber, and the trauma bonding between Elle, who had been kidnapped from her mother, and Dr. Brenner (Dr. Brenner making her call him Papa, as he performs various experiments on her to harness her psychic abilities).

Another government project that has been tied to Stranger Things is the Montauk Project. Initially the title of the show that was proposed to Netflix by the Duffer brothers was Montauk. The Montauk project was according to some, an extension of Project Rainbow and the Philadelphia Experiment. In an expansion of government tests on inter dimensional exploration that was developed by scientists including Nikola Tesla and Dr. John Von Neumann (Project Rainbow) and research conducted on the possibility of weather and mind control by William Reich (Phoenix I Project), researchers conducted experiments on many unwitting adults and children at both the Brookhaven National Labs and the nearby Montauk AFB at Camp Hero, near Montauk, Long Island, New York. Under the Phoenix II Project (aka Montauk Project), reported experiments include tests in particle quantum physics, genetics, particle beam technology, and both electronic and drug-based mind control. Reported witnesses to these tests state that some of the results included materialization of objects, teleportation, and black hole creation. Various reports describe the connection to inter dimensional portals and tunnels. The information is a bit sketchy, so some of this may have been under Phoenix III as well. There has even been reports of a monster that somehow was released via an intra-time portal via someone’s subconscious, which caused casualties and destruction to the base, causing the shutting down of some of project. It has been suggested that this influenced the plot feature of the demogorgon in both season one and two of the series.

Other elements of the show are taken from Project Stargate (which was called by various other names prior to 1991). These projects were for the purpose of competing with the soviets during the Cold War. They were experiments in remote viewing and gathering data via extrasensory perception. The project started as an army project at Fort Mead, in Maryland, and later involved the Stanford Research Institute in Menlo Park, CA.

It is hard to know if all of the “facts” related to these projects are totally accurate. It seem the powers that be like to provide information and disinformation at the same time. What we know to be factual is that MKUltra happened and continues to happen. We know that children have been trauma programmed. We know that trauma bonding happens. We know that there are multiple dimensions. We know that remote viewing is possible and has been happening for years. We know the government lies and has no scruples. We have seen all sorts of stuff happen in the supernatural that we don’t fully understand. For me, the things that we know lead me to believe the possibilities of things we don’t know yet.

My thoughts are that the kind of information regarding government programs, that is being alluded to in the show, has been injected into society as entertainment at this time (and over the years) because it can be used in part as a predictive programming. More evidence may continue to become available as to what the government has been doing; yet if the masses have already been de-sensitized to the information through the entertainment industry, no one will be overly shocked or outraged; and the likelihood of action against such atrocities decreases. I also think that rather that being de-sensitized, people can choose to learn more and take action for good.

The 'Son of Man' is a prophetic title for the Messiah recorded in the prophecy of Daniel (see the Book of Daniel 7:13-14). In Jesus' time the Jewish people were looking for a Messiah who would set them free from the oppressive rule of Rome. Jesus came to set people free from the worst oppression of all - the tyranny of endless slavery to sin, Satan, and death. Jesus came to bring us into a new covenant relationship with God that would not end with death but lead to everlasting peace, joy, and abundant new life.

Why did the Messiah have to suffer rejection, condemnation, and death on a cross?

On no less than three different occasions the Gospel accounts record that Jesus predicted he would endure great suffering through betrayal, rejection, and condemnation to tortuous death. The Jews resorted to stoning and the Romans to crucifixion - the most painful and humiliating death they could devise for criminals they wanted to eliminate. No wonder the apostles were greatly distressed at such a prediction! If Jesus their Master were put to death, then they would likely receive the same treatment by their enemies.

Why did Jesus freely and willingly lay down his life for us? Did not God promise that his 'Anointed One' (the literal meaning of 'Messiah' and 'Christ' in Hebrew and Greek) would deliver his people from their oppression and establish a kingdom of peace and justice? The prophet Isaiah had foretold that it was God's will that the "Suffering Servant" make atonement for sins through his suffering and death (Isaiah 53:5-12). Jesus paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. The ransom Jesus paid sets us free from the worst tyranny possible - the tyranny of sin and the fear of death. Jesus' victory did not end with death but triumphed over the tomb when he rose again on the third day. Jesus defeated the powers of death through his resurrection. Do you want the greatest freedom possible, the freedom to live as God truly meant us to live as his sons and daughters?

Jesus weds authority with sacrificial love and service

Jesus did the unthinkable! He wedded authority with selfless service and with loving sacrifice. Authority without sacrificial love is brutish and self-serving. Jesus also used stark language to explain what kind of sacrifice he had in mind. His disciples must drink his cup if they expect to reign with him in his kingdom. The cup he had in mind was a bitter one involving crucifixion. What kind of cup does the Lord have in mind for us? For some disciples such a cup entails physical suffering and the painful struggle of martyrdom. But for many, it entails the long routine of the Christian life, with all its daily sacrifices, disappointments, set-backs, struggles, and temptations.

Through death to self we serve and reign with Christ our victorious Lord

A follower of Jesus must be ready to lay down his or her life in martyrdom and be ready to lay it down each and every day in the little and big sacrifices required. An early church father summed up Jesus' teaching with the expression: to serve is to reign with Christ. We share in God's reign by laying down our lives in humble service as Jesus did for our sake. Are you willing to lay down your life and to serve others as Jesus did?

"Lord Jesus, your death brought life and freedom. Make me a servant of your love, that I may seek to serve rather than be served, and share in your victory over sin, suffering, and death."

GLORY TO HIS RIGHT AND LEFT

“...one at Your right and the other at Your left, when You come into Your glory.” —Mark 10:37

Sts. James and John asked Jesus if they could be intimate sharers in His glory. They wanted to sit at Jesus’ right and left when He mounted His throne as He came into His glorious reign. James and John didn’t understand that Jesus’ kingly throne was His cross. When Jesus came into His glory on the cross of crucifixion, His inaugural banner read: “Jesus the Nazorean the King of the Jews” (Jn 19:19). Who received the honor of being at Jesus’ right and left when He entered into His kingly glory? Two crucified criminals were His courtiers, “one at His right and one at His left” (Mk 15:27).

Like the two crucified next to Jesus, we also are sinners. Yet Jesus likewise invites us to be intimate sharers of His kingly glory. He calls us to pick up our cross each day, be crucified to the world (Gal 6:14), and die to ourselves (Lk 9:23). We are crucified with Christ, and the life we live is not our own; King Jesus is living in us and sharing His glory with us (Gal 2:19-20). His glory so consumes us that we know nothing but King Jesus crucified (1 Cor 2:2, RNAB).

The daily cross is excruciating, but always remember what Jesus promised the one who was crucified next to Him: When you share My crucified glory for love of Me, “this day you will be with Me in paradise” (see Lk 23:43).

Prayer: King Jesus, as I share Your crucifixion each day, I pray: “remember me when You enter upon Your reign” (Lk 23:42).

Promise: “The Son of Man has not come to be served but to serve — to give His life in ransom for the many.” —Mk 10:45

Praise: St. Philip Neri was a priest who combined a humorous personality with a deep trust in Jesus. He was one of the main influential people in the Counter-Reformation.

what are your headcanons on the magna-ge? we have so little on them and im just dyingggg to know what they could be beyond "they escaped from mundus and made the stars"

Ok first i’m gonna break it down for anyone who isn’t sure what the Magna-Ge are. Lorkhan proposed his divine plan to create mundus, Magnus was the architect of the design. It was revealed that Lorkhan’s plan would have caused the death of thousands of those lesser spirits to become the earthbones and some fled back to aetherius along with Magnus.

The little lore we do have on them is unlicensed and by Kirkbride (who i’m naturally warry of) however I like to work with what i’m given and twist it to ways I find pleasing. https://www.imperial-library.info/content/magne-ge-pantheon and this gives us a lot to think about and work with. (I’ve done an analysis of this already but i’ll briefly summarize what I talked about in that last post)

The text describes four groups of Magna-Ge, CMYK and blend signs. In real life CMYK are the colors a printer uses to create images and color. The basic gist of the classifications are as follows: C signs are associated with disaster, but rigid and cautious. M signs are willful, rash and silly, Meridia is one of these. Y signs are cursed by a spirit named Nana-Null they are erratic and confused due to this. K signs are young and ambitious, I believe Mnemoli to be one of these.

It’s rather difficult to tell if these spirits listed are unique in their own right or different names to existing characters (Daubella becomes Dibella ect.) Regardless let’s just leave that to later analysis and focus only on the general information given.

There was a war known as the Breaking between the C, Y and M signs, Merid-Nunda, daughter of Magnus foretold this. I think this was likely an argument about how involved the Magne-ge should be with Mundus. It’s very important to note that spirits had already died at this time and the Magne-Ge fled. Auri-el and Lorkhan were beginning to war, and the war between the Magne-Ge mimicked this, or were directly involved (but I doubt this is the case, Magnus seems very detached from Mundus)

Those under the signs C and M started the war, but the Y signs got involved after the curse of Nana Null. Merid-Nunda united C and M in an act known as the pigment truce, to attempt to stop Y, but failed. The C signs had many casualties, the M signs less so.

Perhaps in an attempt to fix things, maybe to end the war, Merid-Nunda travels to the bowels of Lyg with Xero-Lyg (perhaps they created lyg for this purpose) and created Mehrunes Dagon (I predicted this originally in 2016, 2017 and a lorebook in eso basically confirmed it, needless to say i’m ecstatic I was right!) Mehrunes Dagon is at his core an avatar of change and the M signs (Which merid-nunda is) are described as ‘knowing no change but change itself’ I find this particularly interesting considering the Magne-Ge are Anuic, typically static beings. Merid-Nunda changed into Meridia after Magnus cast her down, and Mehrunes being her creation reflects this.

Since you asked for headcanons i’m gonna give something more specific rather than an analysis of MK’s weird fever dreams.

Meridia herself admired Lorkhan and his creation, it was something new and interesting, but either feared the consequences, or was forced by Magnus to accompany him back to Aetherius. I personally like to think she made Mehrunes resemble Lorkhan as a sort of nod to him. I don’t think she was happy in aetherius, and under the rule of Magnus.

Mnemoli or the Blue Star is young, being under the K signs and was originally known as Mnethm. She was fascinated with creation like Merid-Nunda and observed it during opportune moments (dragon breaks specifically) eventually she reached out to a particularly interesting mortal, Sotha Sil and he built her a body, and she became almost a daughter to him. :)

Christ’s Foot Soldier’s - part 5

Last time, we were looking at responses to theological objections that a potential brother or sister in Christ might voice, (mostly due to having been misinformed). We looked at those who protested that they did not believe in God and / or did not believe the Bible was the inerrant truth of God’s word. Let’ continue:

3. ‘I don’t believe Jesus is God.’

I understand why you wouldn’t. This has been debated for centuries. So, let’s take a look at what God has to say:

Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]…” Gn. 1:26 AMP

‘Note the Amplified Bible’s insertion of a trinity of deities. The New King James translation just sticks with the word ‘Us.’ You might think that God is just referring to Himself in the manner of a royal ‘We.’ Personally, I don’t think so.

Can we conclude that the Son of God was present when humankind was created?

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last…” Rv. 1:11 NKJV [Note that God says the same thing about Himself. (Rv. 21:6)]

“Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Jn. 8:58 NKJV

“And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.” Jn. 17:5 NKJV

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. Jn. 1:1-4. NASB

Clearly, the Son of God is the Word of God; God’s very expression. Unmistakably, He was with God before anything, (including the universe itself), was created. Thus, there was nothing to create Christ with, other than the essence of God Himself. And yet, because God is infinite, He cannot divide Himself without becoming finite. Therefore, the Son of God must be incorporated within the Father.

Does that make Him God? In a sense, (to the best of our abilities to understand the infinite), yes; or at the very least, a definite deified Being. A mere man would not be one who could facilitate all creation. Indeed, the Son of God cannot, at this juncture in the beginning of time, be a man, because flesh and blood cannot inhabit heaven. (1 Cor. 15:50) Therefore, He must be a Spirit.

Note that some religious sects try to explain that God and Jesus are not the same because they read Jn. 1:1 as: …and the word was a god in their own translations of the Bible. (Emphasis mine.) But check this out:

For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption [because of His sacrifice, resulting in] the forgiveness of our sins [and the cancellation of sin’s penalty].

He is the exact living image [the essential manifestation] of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible], the firstborn [the preeminent one, the sovereign, and the originator] of all creation. For by Him all things were created in heaven and on earth, [things] visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [that is, by His activity] and for Him. And He Himself existed and is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. [His is the controlling, cohesive force of the universe.]

…He Himself will occupy the first place [He will stand supreme and be preeminent] in everything. For it pleased the Father for all the fullness [of deity – the sum total of His essence, all His perfection, powers, and attributes] to dwell [permanently] in Him (the Son)… Col. 1:13 – 19. AMP

This is not an ordinary man. Jesus would have to be at least God-like, which this scripture clearly expresses. Neither can we hold up a human being to be our source of salvation:

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” Jn. 14:6 – 8. NKJV

Jesus is essentially saying, “Look at Me, this is what God is like in the flesh.” This is so that we may experience God with our five senses.

Let’s reflect upon one of God’s prophecies:

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Is. 7:14 NKJV

Immanuel means ‘God is with us.” Here is the same prophet, mouthing God’s words:

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Is. 9:6 NKJV

Indeed, God conveyed the Spirit of His Son, (the essence of God), by way of the Holy Spirit, into the womb of the virgin Mary. The rest is history:

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles believed on in the world, received up in glory. 1 Tim. 3:16 NKJV

…looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus… Titus 2:13 NASB

“My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.” For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal to God. Jn. 5:17, 18. NASB

Jesus in fact, said that we must give Him equal honor:

“…all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father.” Jn. 5:22 NKJV

…although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes – the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it]… Phil. 2:6 AMP

What must also be considered, is that God demanded in the first of the Ten Commandments that only He is to be worshiped. (Ex. 20:4, 5.) That also forbade any worshiping of angels. (Rv. 22:8) However, Jesus did allow Himself to be worshiped:

Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.” Mt. 14:33 NKJV

Then he said, “Lord I believe!” And he worshiped Him. Jn. 9:38 NKJV

While He was here bodily, Christ raised people from the dead, e.g. Lazarus. At the end of time, He will also give eternal life to all God’s children:

“…everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” Jn. 6:40 NKJV

Again, and again, no ordinary human being could do these things.

Jesus was filled with the essence of God and was separately human. Note the demonstration of His power:

And when He called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. Mt. 10:1 NKJV

Even when Christ went to the cross, He had the power to resurrect Himself:

“…I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it again.” Jn. 10:17, 18. NKJV

For myself then, if Jesus is not God, He is so much like Him that there is no meaningful difference. However, I receive letters from these aforementioned sects that present well thought-out objections. Let’s consider them:

1. Jesus died; and God cannot die.

My answer is that only the human form of Christ died, and that part, (the perfect man), had to, to pay for the sins of Man. His humanity was trusting His Father to care for Him. It was Christ’s ‘God essence’ that raised Him from the dead (which only God could do), so that the world could be reconciled to His Father.

2. No one can see God and live.

True. But all the people saw was His human form until His resurrection, when they witnessed His integrative God-Man self.

3. Jesus was flesh and blood.

Yes, His human part was. The nature of His God-Man self is unknown to us. As we know, He could then appear and disappear at will, yet allowed the apostles to handle Him.

4. He prayed to His Father. Yes, but that was prior to His God-Man manifestation.

5. Finally, Jesus was tempted; and God cannot be tempted.

Christ was tempted in His flesh. God wanted Jesus to be humankind’s high priest. The only way to do that was to gain an empathy towards them which could only come by direct experience. His ‘God Essence’ was not involved. God cannot be in touch with sin. This was the only way.

Ultimately, even if the Godhead is considered as one, we must acknowledge, (even if we don’t understand it), that there is some form of tripartite existence within the whole. We see in scripture where God declares Himself as one God (Dt. 6:4; Is. 46:9). We see He and Jesus separately in Daniel’s vision (Dan. 7:14, 14.) and during Jesus’ baptism we see all of the Godhead together but separate. (Mt. 3:16, 17.) Jesus said that He required His Father’s power to accomplish anything, but that was when He was in the flesh manifestation. (Jn. 5:19, 20.) He also said that His Father was greater than Him. (Jn. 14:28) We may consider that in the light of God being the integrative whole of the Godhead, but that’s only conjecture on my part. Finally, we have Jesus’ outcries of anguish on the cross; but, He was experiencing the pain of His flesh, which was the source of His cries. (Mk. 15:34)

And then we have all the aforementioned scripture that infers a closeness between the Father and the Son that we may never understand until our heavenly appointment…

Meet your listener where he or she is at, present your case, and the Holy Spirit will lead them to an understanding.
