Pokemon Emerald Retrospective, from the perspective of a first-time mainline Pokemon player
To preface this, before playing Emerald, I had very, very scarcely played mainline Pokemon. I played about 40 minutes of Soulsilver back in 2013, and played Legends Arceus and Violet to the credits in 2022, but not much else.
My passion lies with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. I played Rescue Team DX, Explorers of Sky, Gates to Infinity, and Super all in a row back in late 2020, and I've been obsessed with them ever since. You can find my retrospectives on those if you look back on my blog.
So why play mainline?
To put it simply, some of my friends were doing it, and I wanted to do it.
A friend of mine boldly proclaimed that they would play every single mainline Pokemon game without reusing any Pokemon species. I decided to challenge myself to do a less strenuous challenge: play one mainline game for every mainline Pokemon region, but I can't use a guide. If I get stuck, I have to ask my friends for advice.
And so, I started Emerald. Why start with Emerald and not Firered? I don't quite remember. But it's where I started.
My first impressions were...rough.
It was slow, clunky, and a lot of stuff I was accustomed to through PMD, Legends Arceus, and Violet, simply weren't there.
Then I got the running shoes, and stuff began to pick up.
I picked Treecko, and named him Apoyime after my PMD Explorers protagonist. With his help, I was able to defeat Roxanne in one fell swoop, thanks to rock's grass weakness.
I caught two more Pokemon on the way there, a Zigzagoon I named Mavy, after the character from Quenched Torch, written by my best friend Sudmensch, and a Tailow I named Tilio.
With them, I made it through Granite Cave, and managed to do it without Flash! I also caught an Aron and named her Serald.
Brawly was more difficult than Roxanne, but thanks to Tilio, I managed to defeat him too.
Then there was Wattson.
Wattson was brutally difficult. I could often get to his Magneton, but every time I did, my team got curbstomped.
It was here that I started seeing the cracks in Emerald again.
You see, Emerald's EXP Share is extremely easy to miss, and doesn't apply EXP to the whole party. Instead, it just splits it between the Pokemon that participated...and one, single other Pokemon, that has to have the EXP Share as a held item.
I really, really hate grinding in games.
So, I visited the Game Corner, and tried to gamble my way to a Flamethrower TM for Mavy.
Even with using savestates for this specific occasion, though, it was a bust. The roulette tables were far too slow, and the slot machines were rigged.
So, I sighed, and decided to ride back and forth on my bike in front of the daycare in order to make number go up.
After hours of this, I managed to get my team up to a large enough level that I could finally, finally beat Wattson.
I decided to take a break for a few months after that ordeal, and resumed my playthrough in January.
And then, there were the HMs.
Before this, I didn't understand why everyone hates HMs so much. Now, I very much do understand why.
HMs force you to reserve either a party member slot for a Pokemon exclusively dedicated to HMs, or to use up move slots on your Pokemon on these moves that are often completely useless in battle.
I sighed, caught a Poochyena for Rock Smash, and named her Hiova.
I pressed onwards, fighting Team Magma atop Mount Chimney, then fighting Flannery in Lavaridge.
Flannery was also very difficult. I had to grind a bit more in order to defeat her, and at this point my patience was wearing thin. I was considering abandoning the marathon at this point.
Not helping this was the fact that the game was very unclear about where to go next. I thought I had to travel through the Route 111, but it was a dead end with nothing but the Mirage Tower.
I did catch a Trapinch here, though, and named her Raga after the Flygon from Tetra's fic Home is Where the Hoenn Is.
Eventually, a friend informed me that I should head back to Petalburg to face Norman, but that he'd be the biggest difficulty spike yet.
And so, I gave up. I turned on a cheat that gave me infinite rare candies, and leveled up my Pokemon that were lagging behind Apoyime.
And so, I took on Norman. It took two tries, but I managed to win!
I had already taught Strength and Shock Wave to Mavy, and decided to teach him Surf as well, making him the jack of all trades of my team.
Thinking it was the next objective, I explored the Abandoned Ship. It was fun, but I got little out of it.
I then saw Wattson wandering around in Mauville, and decided to talk to him, which granted me access to New Mauville.
Gotta say, it's a lot different in the game than it was in the Adventures manga, but it was still cool and fun, and the music gave me lots of inspiration.
Next up, I made my way to Fortree, and was stumped by the invisible blockade in front of the gym until a friend told me to go further, into Route 120.
After giggling a bit and making a bunch of PMD references from the invisible blockades being Kecleons, with the Devon Scope in hand, I returned to Fortree and took down Winona.
Next was Route 120 proper, which was a surreal experience. I had researched it a bit for my fic In Tandem, but playing through it was something else entirely. It was like childhood wonder.
Mount Pyre was really neat. Same music as New Mauville on the inside, which paired with the graves created a very eerie atmosphere.
But outside, there was a fast-paced track that got me feeling ready to take on both Team Aqua and Team Magma.
Then I made my way to Lilycove, where I decided to try a contest with Apoyime.
I failed miserably, getting last place.
And then Emerald stumped me with the most baffling detour yet.
The Aqua hideout was blocked, the ocean routes were blocked, it seemed like I had nowhere to go.
I wandered around for quite a while, until a friend told me that I had to go back to Mount Chimney of all places, and examine a random rock, now that I had the Magma emblem.
This was probably the point where I was angriest with Emerald. More than Wattson's difficulty spike. More than HMs. More than the lackluster EXP Share. More than having to grind.
But I took a deep breath, and pressed onwards.
The Magma Hideout was nothing special, but it got the plotline rolling! Seeing Groudon become active was so cool to see.
And from there, it was a straightforward trip back to Lilycove to infiltrate the Team Aqua hideout.
The Aqua hideout was some of the most fun I had in the game so far. The maze of warp tiles, combined with the great music, and even being able to find a master ball tucked away past a tricky set of warp panels, it all came together to form something very fun!
Then it was a simple surf to Mossdeep, and I battled the Magma grunts there.
After the battle alongside Steven, though, tragedy struck: Hiova turned into a Bad Egg, and I saved before I noticed.
I have no idea why this happened, but Hiova was gone.
After taking a moment of silence to both calm down and to grieve, I looked up what to do in the case of a bad egg.
I deposited the bad egg into the PC, turned off the infinite rare candy code, and went to Route 120 to fetch a new HM buddy, a Marill.
After that, I went back to Mossdeep, and defeated Tate and Liza.
Next up, I began searching for the Deepsea Cave. It was a difficult search, and I managed to find Sootopolis City first, but eventually, I made it inside, and faced off against the evil teams of Hoenn one last time.
With Groudon and Kyogre both awake and both fighting, and after consulting Wallace, I made my way to Sky Pillar.
And...Rayquaza flew out without me fighting it at all. I was honestly kinda disappointed.
After making my way back to Sootopolis, Rayquaza stopped Kyogre and Groudon's warring in a really cool cutscene, and the main plot of the game was over.
But mainline Pokemon is weird. Unlike PMD, the game doesn't end when the plot ends. Instead, there's still the gym, Elite Four, and champion to go.
And so, I battled Juan, and won.
Next up was Ever Grande City, which, side note, really didn't live up to expectations. I was expecting a city as grand as the name implied, but all it was was a Pokemon Center, Victory Road, and the Pokemon League.
Speaking of Victory Road, it was a nightmare to navigate, especially with no Flash and no guide. It took me quite a while to get through it, but eventually, I made it to the Pokemon League.
It felt so tense going inside. I was about to face a gauntlet of the five toughest trainers in the main game, with no Pokemon Centers in between. This was it, my sea of time in Hoenn.
Sidney was relatively easy, but that relatively is doing a lot of work. He still nearly took down Raga and Serald, but I managed.
Phoebe was tough. Her Banette's Curse took down Raga, and she left most of the rest of my team with low health, but I won. Using a revive on Raga, and restoring everyone's HP, I pressed on.
Glacia was easier, about the same level as Sidney, but still nearly took down Serald, and dealt a hefty blow to Mavy as well. But I won.
I just had two trainers left, and this would be my toughest challenge yet.
Drake was brutal, as much as Wattson was. But I had come a long way since then. I just barely scraped by, with Mavy and Apoyime being the only members of my team not fainted when I took him down.
And then, after healing up my team, it was time for my final challenge.
Wallace was very difficult. Almost all his Pokemon were of higher level than most of mine, with his Milotic matching Apoyime's level. And with the move Recover? That Milotic was very, very difficult to defeat.
But I pulled through. I won. I made it into the Hall of Fame.
I consider that one of my greatest accomplishments I've ever done in a video game, up there with beating Champion's Road from Super Mario 3D World solo.
It was tricky. It was brutal. But I did it.
Maybe I'm just bad at mainline Pokemon, but I'm proud.
Emerald, while not my favorite, was mostly a great experience to play through for the first time.
However, it had its flaws. HMs, lack of directions, and grinding made some parts of it a slog.
Overall, though, I enjoyed it, and it was a fantastic start to my mainline Pokemon marathon.
Hoenn is now one of my favorite Pokemon regions.

🪦 — GUTHOUND ROULETTE
"thats all your life's worth?"
Tumblr media
AN: Not proof read, contains R slur. Can reclaim. Enjoy
Tobin sat down onto his rusted old chair, tossing his backpack onto the ground next to him. He leaned back and stared across the small metal table at an older, disheveled looking man. The man rapidly drummed his dirty fingernails on the tabletop, his thick brow furrowed, desperate eyes stealing glances at the boy sitting across from him. His hair looked to be as unwashed as the cheap, worn out faux leather jacket he was wearing, and his face was aged past his years.
Tobin remained still as he lounged in his chair, the light overhead was buzzing eagerly, shining down dimly onto the two men. The boy stared impatiently at the man, gesturing his hand to prompt the older to put in his wager.
“A kid like you wont have the type of cash I need from this,” he spoke with irritation as he shook his head.
“What’re you betting?” Tobin asked.
“80k.”
“That’s all your life’s worth?” The boy raised an eyebrow at the other, unimpressed, watching as the man began to quickly place a few wads of cash onto the table.
“It’s all I have.”
“Alright. I’ll double it,” Tobin reached over to his side and zipped open his bag, pulling out stacks of cash and placing it onto the table as well, “160k.”
The boy leaned back into his chair again as the man stared at the mound of money, $240,000 in total, winner takes all. Tobin pushed the cash aside with his arm, letting some stacks drop onto the ground. He then reached into his bag once again, and took out a revolver, placing it onto the table.
“You can take a look at it if you want. It’s not rigged.”
The man quickly grabbed the gun and opened the chamber, which was empty, and examined the exterior before putting it back onto the table. Tobin reached into his pants pocket and leaned over the table, letting the man watch as he placed a bullet into one of the chambers. He handed it to the man, and told him to spin the cylinder. The other’s gruff hands snatched the revolver from the boy, and quickly spun it with his thumb, holding it for a moment as he breathed through a shaky breath.
“I’ll go first,” Tobin says.
“What, are you stupid?”
“Like you wouldn’t believe,” Tobin grabbed the gun from the man’s grip and pressed the muzzle against the side of his head, his finger snapping down onto the trigger. Click.
He handed it back over to the other, and the man slowly put it to his head as well, taking a moment before pressing down on the trigger, squeezing his eyes shut. Click.
The revolver made its way back into the boy's hands, and Tobin again raised the gun up. The buzzing from the fluorescent overhead lights filled the room, dancing alongside the tense silence. Click.
He placed the revolver into the man’s hand, and reclined comfortably into his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. The other stared back at him.
“Hey, before you pull that trigger,” the boy spoke out, “What do you care most about? Money, or your life? ‘Cause in here you only get a 50/50 chance, yknow?”
“It’s a one in six chance, you retard,” the unkempt man raised his voice with annoyance, hurriedly placing the muzzle of the revolver against his head once again, his finger shaking atop the trigger.
“Whatever you say,” Tobin muttered as he closed his eyes, remaining still in his chair, lounged back, arms crossed.
Click. Boom. Tobin felt a warm sensation splatter onto his face, the loud vibrato of the shot bouncing off of the walls of the small, dimly lit room. The boy opened his eyes and wiped his face off with his arm, looking across the table at the man with a gaping hole in the side of his head, brain tissue and blood decorating the wall.
“Who’s the retard now, huh?” He said, grinning to himself as he watched the dead man sway for a moment, before gravity took hold and his body fell to the ground.
Tobin shoved the cash into his bag, and crouched down beside the corpse, prying the revolver from the man’s dirty hands. The boy ran his finger over a very small splinter on the cylinder, marking the same chamber he had put the bullet into.
“Fucking idiot,” he muttered.
Tobin fiddled with the keys to his run-down apartment, the hallways dim, the streets outside overtaken by the darkness, past midnight. He pushed open the creaky door and walked in to see Tali sat on the couch, still awake watching reality TV. Tobin closed the door softly behind him, and dropped his backpack on the dining room table, before making his way over to his girlfriend.
“Hey Tals, it’s a 50/50 chance I’d win in a game of Russian Roulette, right?” He asked, walking over to the girl.
“It’s a one in six chance,” she said, not looking away from the drama playing on the small, old television.
“Shit, guess I am the retarded one,” Tobin grinned as he fell back onto the couch next to Tali, laying his head onto her shoulder and closing his eyes.

Ciel Phantomhive With An S/O Who Plays Russian Roulette
Aged up!Ciel Phantomhive X Reader
Requested: Anon
Request: Ciel with a gn s/o who plays Russian roulette
Warning: Guns, Illusions to shooting and killing, russian roulette, Ciel aged up.
Tumblr media
Let's be honest, the first time that you mentioned this when he asked about a new game to play he was horrified, he doesn’t know how you even found out about that game, especially because the only reason that he knew about it was because of his work for the queen. He hates that you think the game is worth the time of day and never agrees to play it with you. The day that you made it important to an investigation that he was doing drove him insane, he wanted to stop the game from the moment that it started honestly his heart was beating out of his chest. He gave Sebastian one order “if it looks like she’s in trouble or this game is going to get her killed you get they’re out of there.” “What about the investigation?” “To hell with the investigation!”
You sat opposite the supposed accomplice's fingers drumming on the table, you were apparently the type that this pair looked for when they were deciding on a victim “you're here alone?” The man in front of you asked. “Is that a problem, I don’t have any other friends that would have been interested in this.” You explained feigning innocence. “Really? Sounds like you might be lost.” He smirked and you nodded. “You think?” You asked. “Here let me explain and then you can tell me if you want to play?” He asked. “O-okay,” You answered, faking fear as you did. “Have you ever heard of the game russian roulette.” He asked. “No… Is it fun?” You asked. “Really fun.” He answered. “All we need is a gun.” “Gun!?” You asked. “Don’t worry, there’s only one bullet in the chamber, we spin the cylinder like this.” He placed the bullet in the gun and spun the cylinder and you looked at him and nodded “and then you hold the gun to your head and pull the trigger.” He held the gun up and the small click that signalled an empty chamber. “If you play and win, then you can have anything that you want but if you lose well, you’ll die.” “Anything I want?” You asked. “So I can save my family's company.” You hadn’t expected to have to make up a prize, you just hoped the partner doesn’t look it up. He nodded and you swallowed like you were nervous “then I will play.”
Ciel was sitting in an abandoned building across the way, it had a good view of you and the man as you talked, Sebastian was looking for the partner who shouldn’t have been too far, he was the one who gave you the invite to this building. “Hurry up.” He mumbled to himself, he hated that you were this close to anyone dangerous but he hated the game that you were so willing to play, he was counting the amount of times that you picked up the gun there was only two chambers left in the gun and that was when he saw you move the gun from your head and point it at the man across the room “Sebastian abandon your search and get to (Y/N) now!” Ciel ordered even if the butler wasn’t in the room he knew that the order would be heeded.
“Please do not tell me that you are surprised by this?” You pleaded, “I wasn’t acting very well.” “You were different then the girls that come here, some of them are more willing then others but it usually takes some convincing.” He smirked. “You know your partner is probably caught by now. What are you doing all of this for?” You asked. “What are we doing this for?” He asked, putting his hands in his packets. “Well what makes you think that there’s a reason?” He stepped forward. “Careful, I’m sure you know that all I have to do is pull the trigger and you’ll be dead.” You reminded him and he smirked. “The bullets in the next chamber over, I was the one who put it in, I spun the cylinder, you know I spin it a certain way, the game was rigged from the start.” He explained. “Really… Are you sure? Maybe I pulled the trigger before pointing it at you.” You shrugged. “You aren’t close enough to see so are you willing to risk your life when it’s actually in danger.” “It’s really not in danger.” He smirked and you shrugged. “Fine.” You lifted your hand and spun the cylinder and then pointed the gun at him again. “What about now?” He grit his teeth before he straightened up and relaxed, you seem to have forgotten that I’m not here alone. There was a sound behind you before and then the sound of someone getting knocked out. “Are you finished playing with him Miss (Y/N)?” Sebastian asked and you sighed. “Yes… He’s unlikely to be any fun now that he’s not winning.” You shrugged putting the gun on the table as Sebastian dealt with the man in front of you.
Ciel was waiting for you with the detectives from Scotland Yard “are you okay!?” He asked. “I’m fine.” You answered as he turned your face looking you over, in the years Ciel had gotten much taller and often used that to his advantage even if he didn’t realise it. “I told you not to do anything stupid.” He glared down at you and you rolled your eyes. “I wasn’t stupid, I knew that you’d have Sebastian come and find me, I needed to buy time.” You explained. “You are never playing that game again,” He informed you, causing you to raise an eyebrow. “We’ll talk about that later.” You said “but right now we need to finish up this investigation right?” “The detectives will take it from here.” Ciel waved off your suggestion and pulled you back to his carriage “they know where to find us if they need us.” “So we’re going home?” You asked. “Yes, we’re going home.” He confirmed as Sebastian closed the door for you all and you set off.

Card Games
Tomorrow comes another night, A night forever cold. In the morning all is done, Cards already fold.
For the hand we have in life The deck was always rigged. Not a single ace in sight, And with those cards we live.
Some were given fresher starts, A dealer breaking seals. We don’t always get that chance, And wounds don’t always heal.
Life’s a gamble, play roulette, The table never stops. “All on black” they cheer for you, Never reach the top.
In the house, they always win, Never end the play. They don’t stop, and if they lose, You’re the one who pays.
//ALTERNATIVE ENDING
Even if it’s always hard, You’ll live another day. You’ll survive, and in the end, You choose the game you play.

What would be the best quirks for gambling?
Best quirks for cheating at a casino?
I feel somewhat concerned that more then two people asked about this. Is this some Ocean Eleven style plan and this is step twenty eight? Joking aside, I can think of a few that would fit that set up. After all, there's nothing wrong with rigging the game from the start.
Tumblr media
Electrification: This is a very specific one since it's only good for any form of machine-based gambling like slot machines. Specifically, short-circuiting them so that they "malfunction" when you try to use them.
Compress: You know that old trick of holding cards up your sleeve? It's like that, but now you can do it with pretty much any cheating implement you wish. And if you need to escape the hired muscles, just throw a car at them.
Glamour: Not only would this be really good for messing with other games and players, there could be some really fun shenanigans with it. What are you talking about cheating? The fact that I have seven queens and you have only uno cards is just the luck of the draw.
Sloshed: A lot of people drink while they are at casinos. Why not add something a little extra without slipping anything into their drink? You could easily bet against other people in such a sloppy state. Not so much helping you win as making sure others lose.
Poltergeist: With how many of these games are based around small objects, like a roulette ball or a set of dice, you could move it in the smallest of ways to change the game in your favor. You don't even need to be that obvious with it, just move your hands around, and it's as good as yours.
Confession: Bluffing can make or break someone's game of cards. So why not just remove everyone's ability to lie? If you're subtle enough, you could selectively get the truth out of people without others realizing it. It could even help in figuring out which games are rigged.
High Spec: At the end of the day, a lot of gambling comes down to math and odds. Forget counting cards, you will be able to count every table at once. You could psychoanalyze players in seconds, figuring out all their tells and knowing just the right way to throw them off their game.
Overclock: With how fast you could do things, you could get away with almost anything. Switch out everyone's cards, put the ball in the right part of the roulette, or make it seem like the dice landed in your favor. It's like that entire bit with Jotaro and D'Arby, but now you're actually cheating.

She did not know who left the photos and why. But there they were on the small coffee table in the drawing room. It made her giggle.
“Oh-so-perfect Ruki not so perfect after all.” - she walked to the living room, where – as expected – she found him reading.
“You seemed to have a great holiday…” – she started all so innocently – “Las Vegas…the city of nightlife… casinos…lust…greed… Perhaps all capital vices…” - her voice was sweet. Almost too sweet. A small chuckle – “That really a great destination for someone as frugal as yourself.” – she could hardly not be bursting into happy laughter.
“Tell me Ruki, how much did you lose? Roulette?” – a deep pretended sigh; she was having so much fun. At once she had gained some advantage – “And imagine! It was you who was trying to shame me for buying a few additional scarfs…”
But she could not play that for too long. “Tell me Ruki, what the city like?”
"Nunnally... How did you—? No, I won't question it. This is a fairly small household, and I'm anything but surprised that word would spread so quickly around here. Well, not that I planned on lying to you about it anyway. Yes, I did in fact visit Las Vegas, the so-called city of sin. Between the endless casinos, exotic dancers, and inebriation as far as the eye can see, the city certainly lives up to its name as the ultimate paragon of human greed."
Irritation swelled in the Vampire just hearing her deceivingly cloying tone, knowing all too well she mocked him for ever stepping foot in the city that never slept. Running a hand through his atramentous locks, an exasperated sigh left his lips as he set the book, no longer able to concentrate on its contents.
"However, you don't know me as well as I thought you did if you truly think I would dare gamble our benefactor's precious money away. Whether it was money I received from him or money I earned myself, gambling it all on a whim for the small possibility of hitting the jackpot is the last thing I would ever do in Las Vegas, Nunnally. It’s foolish to risk one’s hard-earned cash on games of chance. No doubt, such games are rigged to ensure the house always gets their share, and the people that walk in will leave disappointed and poorer."

Luz’s Crimes: Gambling
Inspired by Koolkon08 on Tumbler. “Luz runs a gambling scam.”
 Gambling scam/ring
I am not endorcing anything illegal in this fic
Amity and Gus were siting next to each other in the shack, putting the finishing touches on the last few documents needed to make it look like they were humans born in the country.
“Just a few more touches, and…”
 SLAM!
“I FOUND A MONEY MAKING OPERTUNTY!”
Amity jerked back from the table, smearing all the ink on the document she was just finishing, ruining hours of hard work.
She then turned towards Hunter with a look of murder in her eyes.
“What a coincidence, I was just found a soon to be dead body.”
Gus put a hand on her shoulder.
“Hold on Amity, lets hear what the opportunity is first. Also, Willow would be mad if we kill him without asking her first.”
At that, Willow walked though the door behind Hunter. “Yes, I would, and no you do not.” She then pulled Hunter into a side hug. “The only person allowed to kill Hunter is me.”
Hunter gave a little blush at that before extracting himself from the hug. “Anyway, I found a way for you to help with the finances Gus. There is a gambling ring out of a unsold store slot in the local shopping center. It’s pretty small, just a few card games, a roulette wheel, and some sports betting.”
Willow then took that moment to speak up. “My Gardner supervisor is actually the brother of guy running it, and asked if I would be willing to be a dealer for a bit since one of his regulars dropped out. He said that the pay is a flat rate plus a percentage of the money we get from people each month in cash.”
Gus’s eyes widened when the implications hit him. “You want me to use my illusions to cheat people out of their money?”
Hunter just smiled at that. “Almost, but there is one big factor that really sells this plan.”
Willow smiled with him. “Camila gambles there as well.”
Gus and Amity just looked at them before falling to the ground and rolling around laughing. They just stayed down there for a minute before noticing that Gus and Willow weren’t laughing also.
Luz decided to come back from the bathroom at that moment and took stock of her friends on the floor.
 “Are you two ok?”
Gjus turned to look at Luz. “Luz, quick question. Dose your mom do any gambling?”
“Oh yeah. She has a friendly card game with the vet staff weekly . Why did you ask.”
Hunter filled in Luz on the situation, and her eyes lit up with understanding.
“You want to have Gus rig the games where she is playing so she wins.”
“Not too much though. If she keeps winning massive amounts of money people will think she is cheating and decide to either kick her out, rough her up, or just not play with her anymore.”
Gus stood up and sighed. “Ok, I will SLIGHTLY mess with the card games she is playing so she doesn’t lose any money at the tables. I can mess with the card games and the roulette wheel, but the sports betting is far beyond my abilities.”
Hunter just nodded. “That is all we are asking for Gus.”
 Saturday Night
Gus had decided to take the form of a human Adrian Vernworth wearing some glasses, but went by Adrian Verner. Was he being a little petty be tarnishing the appearance of a foe he only met once?
Absolutely yes, but he was a kid and the guy tried to take away his ability to do magic and melt his brain.
He was working a poker table while also keeping a sound damping spell up around the gambling den.
He figured that anything that would prevent people from noticing that something was going on in a supposedly empty store was a good thing and would keep this going on for longer.
It was a hour into his shift when he noticed Camilla entering the building through the front door with a few other people he recognized from pictures on the wall of the animal clinic. The wandered over to his table which had just finished the last game and sat down.
A man with a green shirt looked at him suspiciously. “Who are you? Never seen you here before.”
Gus flashed the best smile he could, calling on all his ability to make the ugly mug as appealing as possible. “I am Adrian, a yes I am new here. I have been dealing here only a few days, but have extensive experience behind this.”
Camilla wacked the man on the shoulder. “Come on Jack. Don’t give the new guy the 3rd degree. Let’s get to playing some cards. Deal us in Adrian.”
Gus nodded and shuffled his deck before dealing out the cards, saving illusionary copies onto the inside of his glasses so he could keep track of who had which cards. The current hands had Camilla with 2 of a kind and another with a flush, but a little illusion from Gus before they lifted up their cards gave Camilla a 3 of a kind and ruined the flush.
He kept doing that all night, and eventually it ended with Camilla winning big.
“¡Sí! ¡Ven a mamá! She yelled, racking in her chips. “Guess who is buying everyone puppy shaped donuts tomorrow morning!”
At that the rest of her table cheered.
Gus just shot her a smile.
It’s times like this that she shows that she really is Luz’s mom.
Thank You again to by Koolkon08 from Tumbler for the prompt. Remember, if you have a idea for a crime that can be done, don’t be afrade to comment or PM me the idea and I will credit you if I like it.
The hardest part is figuring out how to have a gambling ring in a small town and where it would be. Rest assure, we will see more of this den.

Dauntari Day 3
The outer door opened, and Merrin, a Kyrrov and the newest member of Malaka, came aboard with her arm wrapped around Esmae's shoulder. The Maeshari was sobbing.
Cosmic Peanut, the ship's captain, had been running diagnostic tests on the new VR rigs with EDI's help. The ship's AI had just pronounced that the rigs were functioning at 100%.
The captain took a sip of the drink in her hand, grimaced and set it aside just as Esmae ran past. Cosmic Peanut tried to grab their arm. "What happened? Is--"
"We're going to need a lawyer." This from Merrin. "Maybe two lawyers." She appraised the VR rigs. "These look great. Do these have the veli-sonic processors?" She crouched and began to remove the hatch on one of the rigs. "I have an idea to add something like that to Ping."
"Why is Esmae crying? What lawyers?" The captain put a heavy paw on Merrin's shoulder.
"Oh right." Merrin stood. "There was a kidnapping. I mean, Esmae kidnapped a croupier. Accidentally of course. But he's married, and who knows if he'll be able to have kids now. Oh and Garty is pisssssed about it."
"Do we need to get out of here ASAP? EDI, run preflight."
"Of course, Captain," said the AI.
"Does EDI have, like pest control?" asked Merrin. "There were these bugs. Only, they weren't bugs, but they tried to possess me." She ran her fingers through her hair. "They cut my hair and danced around it."
That stopped Cosmic Peanut, who had been about to reach for her drink cup. "What are you talking about? You didn't take anything last night, did you? There's this new drug I heard about--"
"No, just a few drinks. We saw the footage, CP. Garty has cameras everywhere! So these shapeshifters snuck up to the suite, and Garty says they were trying to do a possession spell on me. Take over my body."
"Not again with the bug possession," mumbled the Glabrau captain. She glared at Merrin. "You're you, right? How many fingers am I holding up?"
"None. I told you they didn't get to complete the ritual. I woke up and saw them around my hair, and then they scattered."
Cosmic Peanut turned around once as if taking stock. "Who are we missing? Have we done all the shopping? Where's Quinn? Is Requiem at the hotel? Merrin, figure out where Requiem and Dr. Quinn are. Get 'em here pronto. I'm going to talk with Esmae."
Merrin pulled out her handheld and created a three-way call.
Dr. Quinn, the Proxy scientist-bard, felt a vibration in her coat pocket. With dread she reached for it. "It's probably Brian, the crime lord. If that's even his name." She looked at her friend, the Hanadarian singer Requiem, who was sitting beside her.
"Hold on, I'm getting a call," said Requiem. "It's Merrin. She's calling you, too." Requiem placed her handheld on the table and hit the broadcast button.
"Where are you both? You need to get to the ship. Captain says we need to leave right away."
"See, Quinn? Not fired." Requiem smiled. Quinn had been telling Requiem about how upset Captain Cosmic Peanut was about a damaged VR rig.
"I'm still a criminal though," the Proxy countered. "Hey, ah, Merrin, did you happen to see any Brahvaaschi around the ship?"
"Yeah, I guess."
Quinn placed a hand on the table and leaned toward Requiem. "We need to talk with Garty."
"Merrin?" Requiem picked up her handheld. "Is Esmae still with you? She's onboard, right? Things are.... getting complicated. Make sure she stays put."
"Oh no," came the reply, "more lawyers?"
Requiem sighed. "Let Peanut know we'll be there soon." She put down her device and smiled at Dr. Quinn. "So you went carousing the other night with CP, and you don't remember what happened."
"No, I remember that I lost 29 credits at the roulette table. Sorry about that. And then I woke up to a text saying 'Thanks for helping me with that issue.' See?" She held the message up for Requiem to read. "I thought I did something nice! Something kind or, or noble." She leaned forward and whispered, "Not robbing the casino blind!"
"Listen, you obviously used the same hacking tunnel thing for this, ah heist, as you did to scope things out before we arrived."
Quinn put her head in her hands. "Don't remind me! I will never, ever, ever go carousing again."
"What I'm saying, Quinn, is that you can use those same skills to see what happened the other night, when you stole thousands upon thousands of credits from Garty O'Brien."
The Proxy groaned. "My life is over."
"No, it's not. Stop being a drama bard. Let's go."
Quinn grabbed Requiem's arm. "Brian is watching the ship. He told me not to leave. He called me a golden goose."
"We're just going to the ship so that we can figure this out as a group, alright?"
"We need to pull a Nexus then. Stuff me in a suitcase and smuggle me onboard."
"Quinn, I think that's drastic. Besides, I don't have any luggage big enough--"
"We'll go to the suite, and I'll help you detach my limbs. Then I'll fit in just about anywhere."
"I'm not going to make you a torso, Quinn. This is possibly the most insane--"
Quinn clasped Requiem's hands in her own. "Please? I'm holding on by a thread here."

A Casino Bitcoin Review
Tumblr media
A casino bitcoin is a site that accepts Bitcoin as a method of payment for online gambling games. They are similar to traditional online casinos and offer a variety of popular slots, table games, live dealer tables, and more. Some of them also offer sports betting and poker tournaments. However, players should be aware that casino gambling has a house edge and is not an excellent long-term investment.
The best bitcoin casinos offer a large number of provably fair games. These are games that are audited for a randomized outcome by third parties to make sure they are not rigged. This way, players can rest assured that they are playing fair games and that the house does not have an advantage over them.
Another feature that sets some of the top crypto casinos apart is fast withdrawals and deposits. This is because Bitcoin transactions are much faster and cheaper than those made using Visa or Mastercard. Some of the top crypto casinos even allow players to withdraw their winnings within a few minutes.
mBit is one of the most established and reputable cryptocurrency casinos, having been in operation since 2014. The site offers a generous welcome package for new players that matches each of their first three deposits by 75%, 100%, and 125% and throws in 300 free spins. It has a wide selection of games that includes slots, roulette, baccarat, and blackjack. In addition, it has a VIP program and a huge customer support team that is available around the clock.

Anthony’s Stupid Daily Blog (418): Tue 9th May 2023
I went for a run early this morning but there was something not quite right with my legs that made me stop after about 15 minutes. I could still breathe fine by my legs just felt unusually wobbly. I walked the remainder of the way home and as k was passing by the barber shop a big muscled bloke walked past me and said “Those are some nice fuckin’ sideburns mate”. I welcome compliments but lament that they always seem to come from either meathead lads or old balding men and they never seem to come from sexy women with amazing tits. Once I got home I had a quick bath and then headed off to the town to put the money I won at the casino into the bank. There was a huge traffic jam across the bridge from the Wheat Sheaf and it took me half an hour to get across the bridge. I think someone must have tried to (or succeeded in) jumping off the bridge because there were a couple of police cars there and tape across the railings on the bridge. I have sympathy for anyone who tries to take their own life…but also, come on dude: you can get sleeping pills for pennies these days and overdoses don’t disrupt anyone else’s day. I finally got to the casino (no thanks to Selfish McSuicide) but there was no one on the physical roulette table so I was forced to go on the computerized one which I don’t like using because they could easily be rigged. The guy who put the machine together could have easily put together a programme that collects all the numbers that people have bet on and then makes the ball stop on a number that hasn’t been selected. How would we know? Anywho I didn’t win a anything which I blame on that bridge jumper too. I have a gut feeling that if I’d have been there half an hour earlier then it would definitely have come out on 00 but instead I was sat on my bike moving incrementally across the bridge while the police shoveled / hoovered this guys splattered remains off the riverside pavement below. Maybe this incident was a sign from the universe that I should have forgone playing roulette for once and instead play a game of bridge. Even though I’ve been drinking plenty of water which is recommended for losing weight I keep ending up infuriates by the end of the day when I look on the scales and see that I haven’t lost any weight even though I’ve stayed below my calories allowance for the day and I’ve drank plenty of water. Last night I read up on it and there were multiple health websites which said that drinking do much water can make it hard for the kidneys to process it which leads to water retention which can last for several days. These sites also recommended taking magnesium supplements in order to  get rid of the excess water so before I went home I popped into Holland and Barrett’s to pick some up. I also grabbed some CBD edibles to see if they were any better than the drops I got a while ago. The lass behind the counter said that I could get any item valued at less than £10 for free so I grabbed some dried plums as I’ve heard that they can aid with digestion and if there’s one thing I’m constantly looking for in life it’s ways of having a less painful shit. When I got home I intended to go for a 40 minute run to make up for cutting short the run from this morning. However a few minutes in to the run I got a stabbing sensation in my right calf. I tried stretching it out for a good five minutes but my calf wouldn’t stop hurting so I had to hobble home. I think I might have torn a muscle in my calf. According to webMD this sort of thing can heal on its own after a few days but it’s not ideal for someone who’s trying to run every day for a month. Finally today: I thought that after my trip to LA I’d had my fill of adventures for the year but as luck would have it I’m not all done. Turns out I’m: ALL IN!

Investing Tips : How to Invest in 먹튀검증사이트 Stocks
Near the beginning of the 1973 film The Sting, Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) takes his share of the money conned from a numbers runner and loses nearly all of it on a single bet against a rigged roulette wheel. http://query.nytimes.com/search/sitesearch/?action=click&contentCollection®ion=TopBar&WT.nav=searchWidget&module=SearchSubmit&pgtype=Homepage#/먹튀검증사이트 The most popular stud variant today, seven-card stud, deals two extra cards to each player (three face-down, four face-up) from which they must make the best possible 5-card hand. If so your Ante bet will be paid even money and the player’s Bet wager will be paid according to the pay scale. Before each game and prior to the dealing of any cards, players have the opportunity to participate in the Progressive Jackpot prize. Straight – five numerically adjacent cards ignoring suit (Example – 7 of Spades, 8 of Spades, 9 of Clubs, 10 of Diamonds and Jack of Diamonds). Where both the player and dealer hold a Straight the hand with the highest card is considered the winner.
The suits found on Mamluk cards—cups, coins, swords, and polo sticks—influenced the development of Latin cards, the earliest medieval European playing cards. The game may sound a bit complicated to a new player but the reality is that it is very simple to play and takes only a few hands before it all becomes clear. New Caribbean Stud Poker players should take the time to play a free version of the game He is sitting on a bail of goods and his wallet, papers, and book are at his feet, showing that confidence and reliability are the foundation stones of commerce, just as exchanges are its means, and order ensures its safety. If the jackpot payoffs are different, you can calculate the expectation from the following formula:--where * denotes multiplication, JP is the size of the jackpot, and f(x,y) is equal to the smaller of x and y if there is a cap on the straight flush payout or equal to x if there is no cap.
Straight flush pays either 10% of the displayed progressive jackpot or pays $5,000 (licensee chooses payout option at the time the game is put into play); Four of a kind pays $500,Full house pays $100,Flush pays $50. Tips seem less frequent at the roulette wheel. The house edge in Caribbean Stud Poker will vary according to the payout schedule for the progressive jackpot, but it’s usually around 5%, making it comparable to roulette, mathematically. The house edge comes from the betting structure. 44% of the time, the dealer won’t qualify, so you’ll only win your ante. One Pair: Two cards of the same rank.High Card: Ace is best. In descending order, A-K-Q-J-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2.
It gained drastic popularity among American Civil War soldiers, and eventually migrated to the western borders. Then the mid-1800s came, and 32 deck of playing cards were added to the first 20 cards. Though Genoa and Piedmont are very similar to the French, the Italians also have the distinct Tuscan and Lombard patterns and the Trente et Quarante game comes with its own pattern. Between dice rolls there is a period for dealers to make payouts and collect losing bets, after which players can place new bets.If the player holds the best hand he is paid out at even money on the ante bet. He will also win on the raise bet, the amount he is paid depends upon the quality of the poker hand he holds. The pay outs on the raise bet are as follows:
Tumblr media
After receiving a deck of cards at the table in accordance with 205 CMR 146.49, the dealer shall, as applicable, comply with the requirements of either 205 CMR 146.49 and (b) through below or the requirements of 205 CMR 146.50. The most common Bingo cards are flat pieces of cardboard or disposable paper which contain 25 squares arranged in five vertical columns and five side to side rows. Cable networks such as ESPN and the Travel Channel broadcast games from the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour—once obscure competitions reserved primarily for hard-core poker players. 먹튀검증사이트 It has been said that economic studies showing a positive relationship between casinos and crime usually fail to consider the visiting population: they count crimes committed by visitors but do not count visitors in the population measure, which overstates the crime rate. Part of the reason this methodology is used, despite the overstatement, is that reliable data on tourist count are often not available.
But remember not to feel pressured just because someone in the group is spending more or playing longer. Know your own limits. Casino-goers come from all groups of the population -- 55 percent have some college education; 45 percent have white-collar jobs, 25 percent blue-collar; 17 percent are retired. They offer more playing time for a certain amount of money spent and have balls exchanged for game tokens, which can only be used to play other games in the establishment. If you're betting $5 for yourself, a $1 bet for the dealer once or twice an hour, or when you're on a winning streak, will do.
The pockets of the roulette wheel are numbered from 0 to 36. According to Bloomberg, accumulated revenue of the biggest casino operator companies worldwide amounted to almost US$55 billion in 2011. SJM Holdings Ltd. was the leading company in this field, earning $9.7 bn in 2011, followed by Las Vegas Sands Corp. at $7.4 bn. The third-biggest casino operator company (based on revenue) was Caesars Entertainment, with revenue of US$6.2 bn. These bets are often considered "not working" on the new come-out roll until the next point is established, unless the player calls the bet as "working."The house advantage or edge (the proportion of the stakes that the casino expects to win on average) of this game is one of the highest of most casino games.
Some casinos also offer split-final bets, for example final 5-8 would be a 4-chip bet, one chip each on the splits 5-8, 15-18, 25-28, and one on 35. a graduate degree. (See Figure 3.5.) About 28% had some college credits or an associate's degree. Nearly half (44%) had not attended college. This compares roughly with education levels on a national basis. With a pair of aces, the player is given one card for each ace and may not draw again. This article is about the casino game. For other uses, see Roulette (disambiguation).

Good Gambling Tips for Beginner Casino Players
Gambling is a great pastime that accompanies the pleasure of gathering real money payouts. As a novice, it's enticing to attempt almost all that for a few fast bucks.
>> Article Source: Sbobet88
In any case, practicing restraint and picking suitable games usually returns the money you contribute. Here are a few hints to get a long period of fervor for certain nice successes along the way from the side interest:
Understand the Chances Casino games rely upon karma as the most significant factor to award payouts. Strategy can be utilized in certain games to sway the triumphant chances, however they cannot alter the result or anticipate it accurately.
Game engineers use RNGs to create unforeseen outcomes that are nearly difficult to manipulate. Therefore, approach gambling as paid entertainment like you would while heading out to a film. Assuming you wind up winning, that's great, however it isn't guaranteed.
Learn The Gameplay Strategies Most games have consistent gameplay strategies, so on the off chance that you play a couple of them, you will get the hang of it. There are free games available to practice on without stressing over spending real money. These sets have fun acknowledges that function as bets and rewards incorporated into them.
Notwithstanding, they cannot be cashed out and keep players out of most moderate jackpots. The free games are available for all games aside from most live dealer games. The demo games run on affiliate sites alongside audits and casino recommendations, accompanied by real money ones.
Play in Reputable Casinos Most new players make the mistake of enrolling with the principal casino they happen and remain optimistic. The web is crawling with maverick sites ready to cheat players out of their money. These destinations make it unthinkable for players to withdraw payouts or rig games against their favor unfairly. Be keeping watch for ideal gambling caves with these qualities;
Great audits from professional, unbiased survey sites that offer solid information Valid licenses and approval seals from acclaimed bodies like the MGA, UKGC, GCC, GLI, Curacao eGaming, and iTech Labs Tight safety efforts, for example, SSL encryption to safeguard personal and financial information Reputable game creating partners like NetEnt, Play'n Go, Microgaming, Pragmatic Play, Evoplay Entertainment, and Evolution Gaming Have a Financial plan Casinos have games for almost any financial plan, from as little as a penny to millions of dollars. Most of the games are also fast-paced, meaning that small bets accumulate rapidly and ring up to a significant amount eventually.
Always have a clear idea of the amount you will send both online and offline. The chose amount ought to always be inside the restrictions of what you can lose enthusiastically. Once the amount is spent, walk away from the game whether you are winning or losing. Chasing misfortunes with most logical lead to greater ones, so don't do it.
Play Suitable Games Part of gambling's appeal is the vast range of options to suit almost anyone. Almost all casinos have an assortment of game categories, some with thousands of options. Slots are usually the most given and the focal point of attention. They are fast-paced, easy, and pay the most noteworthy rewards of all the featured games.
Notwithstanding, they offer players the least sway between various winning and payout chances. On the other hand, table games offer various chances to bet with varying rewards of win and chances of being landed.
Apply Strategies Where Conceivable A few games accommodate strategy while others don't. Slots only allow players to place their bets and play the round, while table games have a vast range of options. While playing games like roulette, use Martingale, Fibonacci, James Bond, and other strategies to sway the chances over the long haul. Rewards are not assured, however they have made individuals more fortunate.
Choose Low House Edge Games The house has the advantage in all their casino games, meaning players lose more than they win. These chances are usually introduced upfront as RTPs and house edge. RTPs are utilized in slots and address the potential percentage players can expect of their long-term bets to return.
The higher the rate, the higher the theoretical payout. These rates are tried north of millions of twists, so it doesn't address the exact rewards gathered. Blackjack, poker, and video poker usually have the best house edges and can try and dunk as low as 0.0% in certain variations. These advantages allow a few players to go ace.
Select a Suitable Volatility Volatility is a payout metric that tells the theoretical amounts and intervals a game is probably going to pay. A high volatility pokie will probably lean towards significant successes gifted between long losing periods. Such games are suitable for huge financial plans that can withstand choppiness.
Low volatility accommodates smaller spending plans by being more disposed to small wins in regular sessions. Medium variance offers a blend of both. This information is often given alongside the RTP rate.
Claim Casino Motivations Most casinos have rewards in line for their clients. All offers look lucrative, yet not all of them merit claiming. Regardless of whether the amount is high and spread out across various stores, pay attention to the agreements. The best motivations have a reasonable amount, low playthrough terms, access to high RTP games, and indulgent timeframe of realistic usability.
Qualify for Moderate Jackpots Moderate jackpots are a popular way for gamblers to win millions offered in slots, roulette, blackjack, and other games. A chance at winning these pools can be restricted side bets that need an extra stake. Place the wager reasonably affordable for you and have a remote possibility of gathering up to several millions in payouts.
Other games qualify all players, and you don't have to stress over being locked out. Some jackpot games with massive pools to set off are Mega Moolah, Age of the Divine beings, Jackpot Giant, Arabian Evenings, Book of Atem WowPot, and Sherlock and Moriarty WowPot.
Save While Ahead Save most of the payouts you gather over your original bet. That way, you have a better shot at walking out with more than what you walked in with. This can be applied online and offline.
Decision Take your time adopting the new leisure activity while applying these pointers. Learn when to break from it so it remains healthy and offers fervor for a lifetime.
