#adrien deserves happiness too

The thing with the "Adrien deserves to know the truth" is that while yes it's true, to me it's also a lot of "Marinette deserves to be happy too"
Because sure right now Adrien is happy and that's great for him, I've seen people argue that he might never know and that it's probably better because he deserves to be happy and not traumatised. But him never knowing means Marinette has to hide it everyday and live with the knowledge that she's hiding something big to the person she trusts the most, unable to share everything with him. And that's not fair at all
In the long run, Adrien knowing would hurt his happiness less than him not knowing would hurt Marinette's. And if the show chooses to let Adrien blissfully unaware of Gabriel's crimes (which I doubt but you never know), I'm not okay with Marinette hurting, nor with their relationship never feeling quite as strong as we know it should be all because of Gabriel

Clarification I definitely should have done ever since season 4 and the Ladynoir conflict started escalating, but hey, let's just get it out:
There are reasons why I'm harping down so badly on Miraculous' Girlboss feminism and defend Adrien as much as I do.
To get the feminist (in-universe) explaination out of the way first:
I would be lying if I said that I like the direction the show has taken Marinette's character and the story in general. But regarding her specifically I simply have to say that most of my problems with her are how she is written as Ladybug, Guardian, and especially leader & partner. Not in her civilian self. Hence why you won't find that alot on my blog, only when it contributes to the overarching double standards problem from s4 I take issue with.
I simply cant deny it, Ladybug is a kind of leader I just came to not be able to respect alot anymore in how she operates most things bc she doesn't really ever look passed how things look & stand for herself, and what SHE needs & wants. Marinette is a very low empathy person in the sense that she struggles putting herself in other people's positions, or remembers considering that at all.
But that's not the reason why I can't respect her as leader. I have ADD, that would be really hypocritical of me.
What leaves me unable to respect her as leader though (& honestly kinda even wanting Alya to take her position) is the fact that the show doesn't see much wrong with Maribug doing that.
They don't properly depict this as flawed leadership she actually NEEDS to grow out of by making up for her shortcomings by, for example, making other people her official co-leaders. Instead the show since s4 (& kinda s3) will proceed to put it's feminist foot down if Maribug isn't actually in the end 100% correct and "totally girlboss justified" in any given case - with CN & authorities specifically - no matter the context. Ergo she's barely ever truly improving her weakpoints in partnership skills for example & continues doing the same mistakes over n over.
like she genuinely would benefit from having Chat Noir as her co-leader too, not just Rena Rouge. But no. The neurodivergend low-empathy girl can't have a high-empathy boy co-leader bc apparently thats misogynistic now, huh ?
Again, I have ADD and I'm also a woman. In fact, I actually have alot in common with Maribug (hence why it hurt so much once s4 took her away from me), so forgive me when I still say: I am NOT going to lower my standards of my believe that neither of those aspects get to be an excuse on everyone else's expense regarding LEADERSHIP (which I do also am in the position of in my life).
And I repeat: LEADERSHIP. Not Marinette herself as a person necessarily & esp not her civilian life.
People always say that her critics wouldn't be so hard on her if she were a man, but I strongly disagree. In my experience, if Marinette were a boy people would actually draw a line nowadays and call out that Mariano is too stuck in his own head to be a good leader (& partner). And maybe even demand that he shouldn't be in that position anymore either at all or until he's in a better head space.
Bc with male characters people are actually drawing lines now in important factors when it comes to power & the accountability coming with it, bc in the end being in change means it ain't about you
Hence why e. g. Steve Rogers (Captain America) was then a fucking fugitive from the law when shit got real in the MCU. They had to do that bc of his leadership morality not being able to exist well within a corrupted & complex law system under fire and attack. My man's an amazing battle leader, but the MCU did VERY well leaving taking care of all kinds of social & political matters to Tony Stark. This kind of nuance ain't Steve's strength. Marinette & Steve are actually a EXTREMELY similar type of leader and it's interesting that I don't exactly vibe with him too much either in that regard, but like him as person the way I did Marinette. So for me it's definitely an issue with their type of leadership.
But the mainstream female leader characters are often still "too female" to get held to the same regular standards bc telling a female leader character in a complicated and not entirely beneficial situation & position 'yeah, it's sucks but you're not the center of the universe'' is now more often than not still "too mean/ sexist"
again, Steve was made an outlaw for a reason and you can bet if he had been a Stephanie people would have made all her struggles about sexism & called the 'outlaw leader' route after Civil War misogyny, merely bc "society doesnt respect women". This is whats happening with Maribug & it clashes with her leadership style.
Hence why there AREN'T ALOT of mainstream female leader characters. And if we get some, most of them are narratively defined by how powerful & in control they are for THEIR OWN BENEFIT and it being depicted as 100% right & just in general (like with Marinette) which goes against what a normal leader should be, so alot of people don't like them (ignoring the actual sexist people for a sec)
The first Wonder Woman movie for example was so well-received for a reason. They did it RIGHT (& may I please also recommend Wakanda Forever? Fuck, that movie was GOOD)
--
But yes, it's notably how Maribug treats Chat, who is supposed to be her partner and friend, that I take alot of issues with.
And yes, I would say the same if LB were male and CN female. Ladynoir is so rooted in toxic femininity that this "partnership" (or just the entire LS) the way it is could NOT exist today in gender bend. S4 and the s5 finale in particular are unthinkable in gender bend and they sold it as "justified female empowerment" & "unparalleled loving treatment" from Ladybug's side Chat Noir needed to learn to be GRATEFUL for.
All while, and I will never stop stressing this: the show has never stopped writing Marinette to treat Chat Noir as if he basically just spawns into existence once he puts on the mask. He's HALF a human being. Even once she falls in love with him in s5.
This is the fundamental and deep seeded problem of where my issues come from here. It never stands in question if Adrien views Marinette and Ladybug as full human beings, but the other way around that very much is the case. In whatever way it's depicted. Yes this is a line I draw, especially because of the whole Sentihuman thing.
I personally am alot more like Adrien regarding Friendship and partnership (or what his character initially started out). They are heavy & meaningful topics for me. So seeing Marinette being utilized to girlboss all that into the ground with Chat Noir, esp in s4, while she apparently barely ever even noticed anything wrong with how she treats him in the first place as she literally replaced him with Alya/ Rena in everything but name
cause buring him under a wall of secrets & lies meant she can still 100% benefit from his eternal devotion by letting him believe she's too alone to be a partner anymore AT ALL. (Kuro Neko onwards and then NEVER stopped letting him think she's just as alone as he is. NEVER. She's still doing it in s5 while leaving him 100% isolated which was then his demise in the s5 finale.)
and gives Alya the deluxe partnership entirely on his expense, while barely ever sparing him even the most basic thought in anything; & by "Risk" then literally having them switch status. Rena is her actual partner she fully treats that way and he's merely her favorite temp hero with no rights, which Rena was previously.
And the only reason why Chat was treated with something resembling to fairness or dignity again in season 5 (& finally wasn't a rag doll for her every little mood anymore...) was because Maribug plainly had no other choice and had her team & position of power taken away by force while Alya renounced for her own safety. And yet she's still treating him as half a human being even by the end of S5. AFTER her character development. He's Chat Noir and that's where his existence ends in her leadership & friendship. CN and Alya in s5 are literally 2 halves of ONE PARTNER.
All that was painful to watch to say the least. Bc it's imo honestly a disgrace to friendship and partnership. I can't put into words how ashamed I would be of myself if I treated someone the way Marinette treats Chat Noir (again, HALF A HUMAN BEING).
Much less a friend I claim to love dearly and don't want to loose (another thing the MCU did better regarding Steve's fall-out with Tony over Bucky... I should really make that comparison post why Steve works for me & Marinette doesnt)
Just the mere fact that Marinette in "Elation" even told Chat "It doesn't matter who's underneath your mask" is honestly outrageous.
Because thats simply what it is for me. If s4 & 5 Marinette were portrayed from a similar morality angle to Emonette in the Paris special I would have much less issues with her. Cause thats ironically an angle female characters barely get & is mostly used to redeem the broken bad boys with a hidden heart of gold™.
Double irony: s1-s3 actually DID put civilian Marinette often into that angle, hence why I really liked her, but then s4 suddenly said "well, her methods & actions really dont matter. She's wrong, but actually not really; ergo she should get rewarded in the end. Always. But with a few exceptions. Here n there she loses to claim otherwise. But actually the world just needs to learn how right & amazing she is."
She makes countless mistakes but often either doesn't really learn from them anymore or they just don't "count" bc that's 'what makes her quirky & loveable', so having any issues with her now means you hate women. And she's a very flawed leader but actually never did anything wrong. Ever. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
I will be VERY blunt now: The moment you put a female character into the leader role the FEMALE aspect is supposed to be of secondary importance. And a leader, by the nature of the position, ALWAYS has to be questioned morally wise in my opinion bc of the fatal blindspots that will automatically occur in every leadership.
And it happened here too: Chat Noir's treatment. But they demanded that her being the (female) leader means she's OWED to treat him badly & gets to keep him as blindspot on HIS expense bc she doesn't like thinking about him existing as civilian person.
A leader is ALWAYS somebody who is NOT going to sit well with everybody regarding their approach. That's a normal instinct, and in fact it would be highly dangerous if that wouldnt happen at all. So if I, or other people, don't respect her as one that simply means she has an opposition the way every leader has & is being held to normal standards a leader should be held to, regardless of gender.
Sorry if you think thats sexist, but in my opinion that's a YOU problem. I personally respect female leaders too much to not acknowledge them as anything else but the potential threats they are. The same way I do with male leaders.
You're leader first, woman second. If you can't handle that get out of the leadership position (yes, oc that also applies the other way around). Feminism was about making sure that women cant be excluded from e. g. position of power just bc we're female. The goal wasn't to have yet another group of people stomp their foots, now claiming that they are OWED power once they wanna have it to feel powerful. But that's what Marinette was used to teach an entire generation of children, especially girls.
The last thing you will EVER get me to do is accept that I should be holding women - specifically for equality, female empowerment and leadership - to LOWER (moral) standards as I would the men in her position.
Buddy, I am NOT gonna fucking do that. Just the thought is pissing me tf off, and has ever since s4, cause it directly plays into the misogynistic thinking of:
"Women can't be given power, status or even too much focus as human beings because they're too irrational and immature to be able to then lay proper priorities & take rightful accountability for their shit like a man in power could; and not just scream and cry while playing the oppressed victim card the moment things don't work out & they aren't being given the special female treatment to let them mostly off the hook consequences wise.
Leading to everyone around them, especially the MEN, having to step up, do the work & basically babysit the women like children - while still having to give her the credit as person in charge - turning the women more or less into toddlers wearing a queen's crown"
Which, by all means, Adrichat in every dynamic of the love square by season 5, Gabriel at the end of "Recreation" and even Luka & Félix (& "thankfully" Alya too since s4) had to do for Maribug in alot of ways.
Pick up all of her slack in several major areas & catering to her while simultaneously having to still give most of the credit to HER or else they would be "mean to the female lead" (it's also telling that Alya is treated the best here, & goodness dont get me started on Su-Han...).
And with that out of the way, a few more meta reasons:
1) I'm NOT watching a damn documentary. Marinette is NOT a 14 year old, she doesnt exist & isnt based on a real person or story. She's a fictional main character and narrative tool, so forgive me for approaching this differently than a real life case.
and 2) in everything I watch I automatically look out for the narrative's blind spots and victims of the writings' favorites. I take it this seriously because this is career related for me.
Hence why I have barely ever liked a main character and ironically Marinette/ Ladybug was once one of the few exceptions (alongside Korra from Legend of Korra and Blitz from Helluva Boss)
Look, when I for example watch Helluva Boss or a Yugioh show I will automatically pay extra attention to how the female characters are being treated bc they are obviously treated worse by the writing and much more neglected and scapegoated than the male characters.
Meanwhile when I watch Miraculous and She-Ra, I do the opposite and pay attention to how the male characters are treated bc now they have the gender-biase against them.
And when I for example watch Avatar the last Airbender or Legend of Korra [and She-Ra, that show is great], then I actually get to be mostly fucking happy for once in my life jfc
I'm not going to elaborate too much more on this because I already named by my main point in the beginning: Chat Noir's - not even Adrien's, I mean CHAT NOIR - sometimes honestly awful treatment being the biggest moral and narrative blind spot of the entire show, and honestly where most of Maribug's problems then are also rooted in. Hence why I started focusing so much on Chat Noir since season 4. I look at the overall narrative and circumstances and look for the blind spots that needs to be solved to get to the core of the problem of this whole mess, to get effective results.
And that was and even by the end remained the fact that Adrichat is treated so badly, scapegoated in every possible way in the name of "feminism" and kicked out of the story where HE is at the core of most everything going on, just so the show can force Maribug into everything, make things about her that have no business being about her
Just so she can then be made to constandly turn around and scream, cry and stress about problems - and go about them in the least effective way - that wouldnt be there in the first place if she wasnt the main character of a story that isnt hers.
Mate, I dont know what to tell you here, but the fact that we are following Marinette Dupain-Cheng ,who has nothing to do with anything besides being the cool action girl, is and will always remain of the of core problems of this show. I WISHED that wasnt the case. But for the love of everything, Kagami would have made so much more sense as the female lead, but no.
Anyway, I will leave it at that now cause I already elaborate much further than I initially wanted to, I just wanted to finally have all this stated.
This Blog is not a full representation of how I lay priorities in (feminist) media in general, my view adjusts to the piece of media I'm watching.
And unfortunately, ever since season 4 Miraculous turned into a full blown extreme case and has only gotten better somewhat recently. So I will continue doing what I always do: focus on the fucking VICTIM whose bad treatment pulls down the whole show's quality, and here that's plain obviously Adrien Agreste/ Chat Noir.
And with all due respect: Die mad about it.

Loved your Trevor smut, could you write soft aftercare with Alucard with the prompt 123?
Yes I can, I love Alucard, was to happy to see him again in Nocturne, even if it was PAIN.
Pairing: Adrien "Alucard" Tepes x Fem!Reader
Tags: nsfw, smut, aftercare, overstimulation, bite marks, caring boyfriend Alucard
A/N: He deserved all the love in the world and more okay? Okay.
Tumblr media
123. “My baby, you did so well.”
Alucard's fangs and his cock pulled out of you at the same time, both your neck and your pussy left sore afterwards. He was quick to kiss the marks on your neck, and lick up the blood still dripping down. "Sorry. I don't remember biting down this hard. It's already starting to bruise. That looks like it's gonna be sore."
"Not the only thing that's gonna be sore after tonight." You tried to stretch but ended up groaning in pain when you pressed your legs closer together. "You were really into it tonight."
Alucard took a deep breath, "I missed you. It's been a while since we've spent a night together." His eyes turned to between your legs, "My baby, you did so well. I'm sorry if I was too rough on you. I'll kiss it all better." His still slightly bloody fangs got your blood rushing through your body again, to those still sore places.
"Oh you'd have to... Al- ah- Alucard! You're cold!" You tangled your hands into his silky blond hair to reveal his lustful gaze. In that moment it stopped mattering how cold his tongue was against you or how sensitive your pussy was. You leaned back against the bed and let your voice out once more, allowing him to slowly and gently lick up and inside your pussy.
"Take it easy. Allow me to take care of you. You've had a long travel to get here, taking care of you is the least I can do, my darling." His hands started to run over your legs, trying to get rid of the sore feeling in them so you could drape them over his shoulders with comfort. Alucard was as caring as he was still horny.

At the moment, I like to think that the reason Chloe started bullying Marinette in the first place wasn't because the latter did anything against her personally.
Marinette has this energy, this warmth that naturally attracts people towards her. Her clumsiness is endearing. Her creativity is inspiring. Her kindness is heartwarming. And her leadership skills are comforting. She got everything that Chloe has always wanted without seeming to put any effort into it at all!
Marinette's mother genuinely loves her and would go out of her way to ensure she's doing fine and that she's happy (Audrey doesn't even remember her name). Marinette's father loves her just as much and would pick her up and twirl her around (She has to scream for Andre at least fifteen times before he gives in to her whims).
So of course, after getting a good look at Marinette when they began middle school, Chloe had to nip her in the bud before their classmates could get closer to her.
If she, the mayor's daughter, can't get people to love her without having to compromise or do things she doesn't want to do, why should this peasant from the bakery get everything? She should stay in her lane of course! She's just a worm. A piece of dirt. She doesn't deserve the love that Chloe has been dreaming of all her life.
But then...
Adrien gave Marinette his umbrella. And he chose to become closer to her and would even defend her from Chloe's wrath! And then he gave Marinette his heart.
Audrey was impressed by Marinette's talents. She asked her to come to New York with her. But what about Chloe!? She's her daughter for crying out loud but she chose the peasant over her!?
Zoe came along. But she chose Marinette too like everybody else! No amount of "I love you, you're my sister!" will ever heal that sting.
Felix chose Adrien which meant he chose Marinette. They may not have gotten along much as kids but dammit did it still fucking hurt.
And then there's Lila.
Oh, Lila, Lila, Lila.
Chloe chose Lila. This should have made a difference right? Right???
But no.
Lila's hateful obsession with Marinette was so bright, so blinding, how could Chloe ever have a chance to shine for the olive-eyed brunette's heart?
She hates her.
She hates Marinette.
She hates her she hates her she hates her my god she fucking hates her!!!!!!

Luka Couffaine/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
-They‘re just so good for each other. Luka is such a calming presence in Marinette‘s chaotic life and helps her relax when she feels anxious and unsure of herself, always willing to be there for her and offer a helping hand during tough times. Marinette has a deep appreciation not only for Luka‘s ability to play music but also hear heart songs, as if she understood immediately what he meant after listening to him play for the first time. They feed off each other‘s creative energy and are just generally so wholesome together. I could talk about them forever, they make me so happy!!

The Power of Love according to Season 5 of Miraculous
Something disturbing dawned on me concerning...a lot of the development in Season 5 and it comes down to one thing: Love.
At first, Andre and Felix getting redeemed while Chloe gets sent off to the worst fate the show would allow didn't make a lot of sense. The only thing I could get from the writers was just that "Chloe bad, so everyone else good." It was stupid, but it wasn't insidious. At least, not that insidious at first. And then the finale with Gabriel happened and while it took me a while to process my frustrations with this, something finally clicked. Not only concerning that, but some of the other developments I've seen.
Felix getting another chance to the point of JOINING the heroes in the new universe seemed like nonsense until you look at what happened before that. He was someone who Astruc went out of his way to bury in the narrative and was exclusively causing trouble for everyone up to and including GENOCIDE...until he showed his love to Kagami. Suddenly, his actions are seen as righteous and his backstory of being abused by his father was justification for his actions. You see, he loved Kagami and he also apparently loved Adrien too because they were "the same."
Andre was basically just some corrupt politician who was also a pathetic snob. Then when Zoe came in, we suddenly get all of these humanizing bits about how Chloe totally mistreated him (because apparently, not having the guts to say no to your daughter is mistreatment) and when he divorced Audrey, he gets Zoe because he's someone he could be happy with. A true familial love unlike the one he had with Chloe.
Chloe, meanwhile, doesn't love anyone as far as the writers are concerned. Any genuine connection she might have in either the platonic, familial, or the romantic sense, whether it'd be to Adrien, Sabrina, Zoe or Ladybug, are shown to be either fake or so utterly shallow, it doesn't count as "love." With that, everything she does is absolutely reprehensible and doesn't deserve a shred of forgiveness even if it's clear she's a neglected child who needed help. BUT, because she "doesn't love anyone", she doesn't get redemption and deserves to be sent away with a parent who doesn't love her either. Same with Lila, she doesn't love anyone at all and in fact, just jumps from family to family purely to keep up her manipulations.
Finally, we have Gabriel, who had done nothing but sheltered, belittled, and outright ABUSED Adrien as well as commit a multitude of horrid crimes throughout the series. His actions constantly escalated in awfulness throughout the series, even showing that he doesn't care if he destroys the universe to get what he wants. Yet there was always this trait he possessed. His love for Emilie and that ended up coming to the forefront in the finale. Marinette, who had Gabriel dead to rights, decided at the last moment to try and appeal to his humanity because she knows he loved Emilie and in her mind, that love is enough grounds for her to offer him one chance to step up and help. Then when Gabriel opts to betray Marinette and starts the wish, he tells her at the last moment to try and help Adrien remember all of the times he "tried to be a good father," which is apparently an indicator that he actually LOVED Adrien too. THAT ended up being why Marinette decided to lie about Gabriel by saying he died fighting Monarch and went as far as to try and tell Adrien to remember him as a good man. All because she knew Gabriel "loved" him.
This tells me something distressing. Now, the concept of "Love Redeems" is something I'm not at all against and is in fact common in a lot of stories I like. However, it's what Miraculous does with this concept in Season 5 that angers me. The message of Miraculous ends up giving in its grand finale for the Agreste arc isn't that love can help people find the way to kindness. It's that anything you do can be justified as long as you do it for "love." It doesn't matter if you purposely get a cab driver in trouble, attempt to sabotage a date that your crush is in, put together a project that tries to commercialize air, betray someone to help a terrorist, commit genocide, cause untold amounts of damage to your town and beyond, or even destroy the universe! As long as you love someone, everything you do can be justified. Except when we decide that you don't love ANYONE, then we'll do everything in our power to show that all of your connections don't count as love so you can have the worst punishment we could possibly muster. Regardless of intent, that's how the writers ended up describing the Power of Love in Season Five of Miraculous and that's wretched to me.

Hello, all respectfully, may I ask, why do you want emilie to be dead? I mean adrien deserves to have his mom back, don’t you think? You can answer it thru private chat if it makes you more comfortable.
No that’s perfectly fine! I love getting a chance to overanalyse and write down my own thoughts! 📝
So, I have a complicated relationship with Emilie as a character, but I don’t hate her by any means. I do believe she is a lot less pure and innocent than we were first led to believe, but that makes her much more compelling, so as far as I’m concerned it’s a great writing choice.
The reason I think she should be dead, or more accurately, stay dead (the nuance is crucial), is simply storytelling.
As fun as the show is, it is also pretty serious when it wants to be, and these 5 seasons were written with a couple of core messages in mind:
Part of the experience of being human is to accept that there is no magical solution to our problems. Sometimes things don’t work out, sometimes we lose the people we care about; and actions bring consequences, always. This is why using the Peacock carries such a heavy toll, even after it is fixed, and why the Lucky Charm primarily relies on Marinette’s intelligence and creativity (characteristically human qualities) rather than being an automatic problem solver.
Tumblr media
Whenever these losses occur — you have to move on. Staying stuck in the past means depriving yourself of a chance to enjoy the present and plan for the future. All of the events of these 5 seasons were triggered by Gabriel’s inability to accept the concept of death, and by his attempts to drag all of Paris down the pits of grief (symbolised by the akuma attacks) with him — starting with his own son.
Tumblr media
Of course, Adrien deserves to be happy and loved! And Emilie herself explains how it can happen:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
By letting her go.
Adrien is an extremely strong and loving kid who, unlike his father, is able to shoulder the pain while still opening himself up to the world. Gabriel trying to bring Emilie back did nothing to fix the sorrow his son had to deal with; in fact, it cost him his other parent and a normal childhood in the process.
But the thing is — Adrien does not need Emilie anymore.
Tumblr media
He has a girlfriend who loves him so much she gave his dad one last chance to make the right choice, despite all the pain he caused (and will likely continue to cause from the grave). He has a cousin who loves him so much he was willing to burn the world down, then help fix it to protect him. He has amazing friends who supported him through this entire ordeal (special shout-out to Nino, who has been on Gabriel’s case since S1 E9), even when he did not feel comfortable enough to share the full extent of the abuse he was going through. He has Amelie and Nathalie, who will provide him with the motherly love he needs in his life, and Tom and Sabine, who are already packing him his breakfast every morning because they’ve carved him a place in their family and hearts. Also, he has a cheese-eating demon who lives in his pocket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No one is entitled to raising the dead, and Adrien would never even consider it. But he does deserve love and care and happiness, things his father deprived him of in his senseless quest to defy the laws of nature — things he was able to build for himself because he chose to be kind and vulnerable despite his grief.
Season 6 will be terrible on him, but he will come back stronger on the other side. And in doing so, he will send an important message to the core audience of the show: young children who will sooner or later have to mourn a loved one themselves, but will know they can be OK thanks to his example.
And you know, sometimes us adults need a little reminder too. 💚

Chapter 2: how to PROPERLY introduce your alter ego to your ex-boyfriend
In which Ladybug somehow winds up in Adrien's room again, but this time he only cries a little.
Fic Summary:
When the guilt of keeping Gabriel’s secrets gets to be too much, Marinette breaks things off with Adrien. She figures he deserves better than a girlfriend who keeps cancelling plans and dodging his calls because she can’t bear to tell him the truth. He deserves to be happy. But staying away from him is easier said than done. One visit to his room as Ladybug quickly turns into another, and another, and…before she knows it, they’re falling for each other all over again. And as for secrets? Those have a way of coming out.

To be fair, Adrien's 'apology' effectively amounted to Marinette comforting and reassuring HIM that oh, he's just such a *good person* that he couldn't see how bad and nasty and evil Lila was. Claiming that he was just too PURE and simply couldn't comprehend what kind of person he was dealing with. So I question how much it really 'validated Marinette's feelings' versus patting him on the back and coddling him YET AGAIN, with a hefty dose of "It's not HIS FAULT he's so sheltered and trusting!'
You're not wrong.
Sadly, honestly at this point, the bar is so low for Adrien and the writing around him that it seemed impossible that he would ever say the words "I'm sorry" in any truly meaningful way.
So a lot of us are just happy that he at any point acknowledged being wrong at all and apologized for it. That was all we wanted. That was all we've BEEN wanting. So much so that we're willing to give leeway for the sheer fact that he says it.
Unfortunately, this apology comes a good while too late to really matter and it's further invalidated by having the victim reassure him and make him feel better by framing his justification as being too nice.
The thing is, Adrien's words and apology DID validate Marinette. The problem is that the writers can't let Adrien be at fault for anything and of course make it Marinette's job to make him feel better, so they have the victim try to reassure HIM and thus undercut the validation that she deserved and the fandom was long wanting.
...then there are a couple other things to consider here:
For all that they're trying to twist his mistake into a sign of how wonderful he is, the problem is that Adrien's issue here wasn't that he was "too nice" but that he was passive. He actively prioritized the feelings of a liar and manipulator like Lila over the wellbeing of his friends.
This is evident in the other problem in that Adrien is apologizing for what he said to Marinette and NOT the fact that he hadn't acted himself in the matter. This is indicating that he had no problems with Lila lying until it bothered him and it only bothers him NOW because he's in love with Marinette and they're dating.
The OTHER problem is that Adrien is LYING.
Adrien: I shouldn't have told you to wait to act against Lila.
Stop.
Review that.
Do you see the problem here?
Because while I don't know about the French version of this scene or the scene in Chameleon, there's a major discrepancy here in the English version:
He never told Marinette to wait to act.
Adrien: Are you going to tell everyone? Marinette: 'Course I am. Lila is— Adrien: (interrupting) A liar. Yes, I know. But do you really think exposing her will make things better? If you humiliate her, she'll just be hurt more. Making a bad guy suffer has never turned them into a good guy. Lila: Ladybug and I are like two peas in a pod. Marinette: So we just stand by and let her lie? Adrien: As long as you and I both know the truth, does it really matter? Marinette: You're right, maybe it's not such a big deal.
It's been a common argument from Adrien defenders that this is the approach Adrien was taking. So in a way, it makes sense for that to be the angle the writers try to use since the fandom practically handed the excuse to them.
But at NO point in this discussion did Adrien say to take a wait and see approach. At no point does he imply that they would or even should act against Lila at a later time. At no point does he even express a belief that Lila's lies will be revealed. Because at NO point in any of his lines did he express genuine concern for anyone but Lila.
What he DID do was invalidate Marinette's feelings and dismiss her very valid concerns.
And yet his apology wasn't for that.

I LOVED YOUR DADVI FANFIC OH MY GODDDD 💜💜❤️
AHHH THANK YOUUUUU. I am so happy you liked it!!! 😭😭😭
I was worried about making Levi too strict as a father but I truly believe he would be rather strict! But, setting that aside.
I believe it is rather cute how after the rumbling the world slowly went back to normal and Levi lives in one of those "respectable family neighbours" since in the manga Levi is in a wheelchair with a big clock behind that looks like the big ben. I don't know why I concluded "he's living in a country similar to England" lol and now his kid grows in one of those country sides, classic pretty English houses. I think it's cute how obvious it is that Adrien (his son) has a very normal life, he has a big house with front and backyards to run and play, his own room with his record player, goes to school, and has pets.
I think the pets were a rather "family" addition, Levi seems to like animals a lot so he owns a dog and a cat is so freaking cute to me. For me, they have a border collie 🤣 and a very fluffy fat tuxedo cat. Like Levi really settle down and said "whatever shit is going on, it's not my responsibility any longer. I did my part and now I want to give my family the life we deserve"... Doesn't help that Adrien is a bit of a reckless but 🤣 "it's a phase" lol
In the end, Adrien was probably between 3-5 years all when the whole rumbling happened. I think Levi would get a bittersweet taste when Adrien casually mentions that he doesn't remember paradise any longer, or the walls, or the war at all. His kid grew up without walls surrounding him. I like to think that Gabi and Falcon think Adrien is "immature" for his age or "spoiled" (but with love of course) but they know that Adrien is part of the first generation that grew without a war, that simply makes his childhood last longer.

The Truth 1
The Truth
[1 The Truth] [2 Soul] [3 Through a Shattered Mirror] [4 Healing]
Marinette took a deep breath. Adrien deserved to know the truth, about her identity and how his father, who is now being hailed as a hero, was Monarch, the man who terrorised Paris for the past couple of years. Adrien stared down at her, his eyes soft and loving. Marinette hoped he didn’t hate her.
“Adrien?” Murmured Marinette, glancing up at him, “I need to tell you something.”
“What is it?” Adrien murmured back.
“I…” Marinette’s mind went blank, “can’t remember.”
Adrien winced, “I hate it when that happens, you know what your gonna say and then to flies out of your mind.”
Marinette hummed, quietly pondering on what she was going to say.
TT
Ladybug looked down at Adrien, he was staring up at his father’s statue, with a troubled look on his face.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Asked Ladybug, making Adrien look up at her.
“I’m thinking about my father,” Confessed Adrien, “He gave his life to defeat Monarch, and he’s a hero for it, but all the stuff he did to me and my friends. How he hurt me and was unnecessarily cruel to my friend. He hated my girlfriend because she made me happy. I, I wanted him to be Monarch, j-just so I could feel justified in why I hated him so much.”
“I,” Ladybug paused, “I never knew you felt that way.”
“Yeah, well,” Scoffed Adrien, “He’s a hero now, everyone loves him. No matter how horrible he was or how bad he made others feel.”
Ladybug felt her mouth and voice move on their own accord, “I’m sure he was just doing his best, Adrien.”
Adrien scowled and scoffed again, “No offence, Ladybug, but you didn’t know him, you didn’t live with him, you didn’t have to work for him, and you didn’t have to try to reach out to him every day and get rejected.”
Adrien spun around and stalked off, as Ladybug gnawed at her bottom lip.
TT
Ladybug gnawed on her bottom lip, she’d asked Chat Noir to meet her, she’d made sure to specify that she wanted to see Chat Noir only, much to the rest of the team’s consternation. Since Monarch had been defeated and Gabriel’s statue had gone up, she’d tried to tell Adrien who his father really was, but every time she tried, the words wouldn’t need her mouth.
“Okay, LB, what’s the news?” Said Chat, making Ladybug jump.
“How many time do I have to tell you not to do that?” Gasped Ladybug, before straightening up, “Never mind, I have a problem.”
“Is it boy trouble? I promise not to cataclysm him too hard.” Rattled off Chat Noir, getting a sigh from Ladybug.
“It’s to do with Monarch’s identity.” Said Ladybug, not hearing the team all gasp underneath her.
“Oh, really?” Questioned Chat, “Who was he?”
“Gabrilllll- Gabb- for fuck’s sake, the guy who dressed like a candy cane before being bleached.” Spat Ladybug, internally cursing whatever was going on with her.
“Gabriel Agreste?” Asked Chat, slowly, “I’m sorry, M’Lady, but I thought he helped defeat Monarch?”
“In a roundabout way,” Dismissed Ladybug, “I can’t remember how, but he got the Miraculous, made the wish and then, nothing, I don’t know what changed, but he seemingly wished himself out of existence.”
Chat Noir swallowed, “W-why didn’t you tell Adrien this?”
“I’ve tried,” Sighed Ladybug, “that’s the problem, every time I try and tell him, my mind goes blank, and I keep forgetting what I’m trying to tell him. Then my mouth suddenly gets a mind of its own and tells him ‘Your father was a hero, he helped defeat Monarch’. It’s like my brain’s trying to erase that he was Monarch!”
“What?” Ladybug and Chat whirled around and spotted Carapace, “Adrien’s dad was Monarch?”
Ladybug groaned, before pinching the bridge of her nose, “Okay, okay, who else decided my instruction of ‘Chat Noir Only’ was a suggestion?”
Slowly, each and every member of the team crawled out from their hiding places. Ladybug groaned again.
“Yeah, I know, we didn’t listen to you and you’re not mad, just disappointed.” Said Rena, “However, in our defence-”
“Rena, be quiet.” Said Ryuko, walking up to Ladybug, “Ladybug, look at me.”
Ladybug slowly looked up and everyone jerked back, Ladybug had blood running from her eyes and nose.
“What?” Asked Ladybug, before her eyes rolled back into her head.
“Oh shit.” Swore Rena, rushing forwards, helping Ryuko lower Ladybug to the floor, “What the hell?”
Chat shook himself out of his stupor and knelt down next to Ladybug, “What just happened?”
“Ladybug said Adrien’s dad was Monarch, before she started bleeding from the eyes and nose and then she collapsed.” Said Pegasus, getting everyone’s attention.
“I think he meant that metaphorically.” Suggested Purple Tigress, as Rena frowned.
“I’m going to have to remove the earrings.” Stated Rena, “Hopefully, Tikki can tell us what’s wrong.”
Rena went to grab the earrings, before hesitating. She frowned, before looking over at the rest of the heroes, “Argos, I need your coat.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t have a blanket to hide her identity!”
Argos grumbled as he shed his coat and held it out to Rena.
Rena took it and carefully adjusted it over Ladybug, before reaching under it and pulling the earrings off. Chat stared at Ladybug’s shoes, they looked familiar to him, before Ladybug suddenly started convulsing.
“Oh fuck!” Yelped Rena, attempting to restrain Ladybug with Ryuko, “Now what?!”
“Stop restraining her!” Yelled Pigella, rushing forwards, “You’re at risk of harming her!”
Shoving the two out of the way, Pigella went to remove the coat, Rena opened her mouth, but a glare from Pigella silenced her.
“I’m sorry.” Whispered Pigella, before pulling the coat off Ladybug and rolling her onto her side.
Marinette suddenly expelled blood from her mouth, everyone except Argos, Ryuko and Rena froze. Pigella shook her head and looked at them, “We need to get her to a hospital.”
“How?” Asked Ryuko, “we can’t just charge in there and say ‘Hey this unconscious and bleeding girl is Ladybug, we don’t know what’s wrong with her!’ can we?”
Chat shook his head and looked away, before rushing over and grabbing the earrings form Rena and jammed them onto his ears.
“What are you doing?” Demanded Rena, as Chat flicked the earrings.
“Tikki might be able to help.” Said Chat, as the Kwami appeared.
“What?” Said Tikki, “Where’s…?”
She spotted Marinette, “Marinette!”
“Tikki, can you tell us what’s happening to her?” Asked Chat, quickly catching her attention.
“It’s a side effect of witnessing a reality changing wish, she tried to reveal what happened in the old world and now it’s trying to kill her.” Answered Tikki, “It was a stipulation Monarch made when he made his wish.”
“Is there any way to reverse it?” Demanded Rena, from Marinette’s side.
“The Celestial Guardian might.” Said Tikki, getting a frown from Chat, he didn’t particularly like him very much.
“They trained me to succeed Su Han-” Started Viperion, before someone snorted.
“You were trained because you were a loose end,” Said a man, appearing with a shimmer, “You are simply a soldier, not a commander.”
“Li.” Chided a woman, appearing, “At ease.”
The man scoffed, before jumping down, “Move aside.”
Ryuko reached for her sword, before the woman spoke up, “Li has a blood connection with the girl. He can help in ways the Grand Master cannot.”
Li crouched next to Marinette, ushering Pigella and Rena out of the way. He sliced into his hand, and started muttering under his breath.
Viperion scowled, before Marinette coughed up some more blood, with some red markings appearing on her. Li frowned, before resuming his muttering. Marinette coughed again, the red markings vanishing.
“She should be healed enough to go to a healer without anyone asking too many questions.” Said Li, after he was finished, “They’ll likely say that she’s exhausted, but she’ll be fine.”
Rena nodded, grabbed Marinette, with Ryuko helping her and jumped off the roof. The rest of the team stood in silence as the Guardians left, with Li casting a sharp glare at Viperion.
T
Marinette coughed blood into the paper bowl the doctors had given her.
“She’s incredibly lucky.” Said one to her mother, “if she’d ingested any more, you’d be making funeral arrangements.”
Sabine glanced at Marinette, before looking at the doctor.
“That being said,” they continued, “it may also be down to the fact the glass wasn’t ground fine enough.”
“Why didn’t anyone notice?” Asked Sabine, making the doctor look at her.
“Ground up glass looks a lot like sugar when ground up.” Said the doctor, “Does she had sugar in anything?”
“Practically everything she eats or drinks.” Said Sabine, frowning.
“Has she had any reaction to anything she’s eaten?”
“No, she’s hasn’t.”
“How about drinking?”
Sabine froze, “She threw away a coffee she got, she said it hurt her tongue.”
“Where did she get it from?” Asked the doctor, frowning.
“A coffee shop near her school, Petunia’s.”
The doctor didn’t move, before looking down at his notes, “I’ll be back in a minute.”
Marinette spat some more blood into her bowl, “Maman, am I going to die?”
Sabine sat next to Marinette and gently wrapped an arm around her, “I don’t think so, the doctors don’t seem to be too concerned.”
The door opened, with the doctor re-entering the room, “Right, I’ve contacted the police, we’ve had a number of other patients with similar symptoms. They’ll want to talk to you.”
“Is she going to be alright?” Asked Sabine, getting the Doctor’s attention.
“She’ll be fine.” Assured the Doctor, “Fortunately, the blood’s mostly coming from her tongue, but her fainting is down to another issue. Does your daughter suffer from insomnia?”
“I don’t think so.” Answered Sabine, “But she does drink a lot of coffee at home.”
The doctor sighed, “I’m going to suggest you put her on a caffeine hold and see what happens from there.” They handed Sabine a prescription, “These are a mild sleep medication, she should take one after a meal. I’m going to see about discharging your daughter.”
Sabine watched after the doctor as they walked out, before looking at Marinette, who, for some reason, had stuck four cotton balls in her mouth.
“Habe bhe beebin stobed?”
T
“Don’t be bemused, it’s just news,” Said Nadja on the television, “Petunia’s, a local coffee shop, has been closed by police after it was discovered they were giving some of their customers ground up glass in their coffee.”
Marinette stopped with a cheese puff half-way to her mouth.
“The owner of Petunia’s has not been arrested, but had declined to comment.”
Marinette shrugged, before going back the spell book, pausing when she saw a particular spell.

It’s so hard being an Adrien stan in this fandom. People are constantly nitpicking every little thing he does. He can never do right by them. It’s so frustrating. And that’s not even mentioning how he was treated in canon
I feel you anon. I wasn't actively posting for the fandom during the major salt periods, like right after the airing of Syren and then Chameleon, but I was around to see the ridiculous salt fests that would go on. People love to pick on Adrien for every single little thing that involves him making a decision that doesn't cater perfectly to Marinette's whims and needs, but woe be upon you if you say anything about Marinette that isn't praising her. It's not even like I have a problem with Marinette as a character. Some of her writing in Season 4 and 5? Yes. But in Seasons 1-3, I really loved her. She was such a breath of fresh air for me as a character. She was so full of charm and life and energy. But she got ruined for me by her stans who jumped to salt on every other character for not exactly agreeing with her every decision and for having minds of their own and having desires that weren't about her.
And another annoying part is their insistence that Marinette is treated oh so cruelly by the narrative and poor Marinette is always suffering and everyone is treating her so cruelly and she deserves better than people who aren't willing to be her faithful slaves. Then Seasons 4 and 5 brought this into canon, and then you saw people who were salting on Adrien for being upset about being neglected by his partner, and they were blaming him for "feeling entitled to her" despite never calling her out for her treatment of him. Lemme tell you, the chimney discourse was wild. And all that bullshit ass "discourse" about him harassing Ladybug, while ignoring all the stalking Marinette did and pretending it was nothing. I generally ignore anyone who says either of these things because they are clearly meant to be jokes, and I think calling Adrien a harasser is just as ludicrous as calling Marinette a stalker, but the double standard of taking the joke seriously for Adrien but not for Marinette is annoying, to say the least.
And ultimately they just want Adrien and everyone else to be Marinette's sidekicks/yes-men who will never disagree with her and will always do whatever she wants and will never think for themselves. And you unfortunately can see this attitude seeping into canon too, with how Adrien isn't allowed to have independent thoughts outside of how he can be of service to Marinette. Nothing matters for him, the only thing that matters is her and what he can do for her. She's allowed to yell at him and throw him into trashcans, but fuck him if he disagrees with her on something and isn't happy to just sit by and accept being replaced and ignored. And canon Adrienette is such a good example of this phenomenon.
But the salters will whine and rage about how Marinette is such a victim of the narrative and how she suffers so much that we should all excuse her less than perfect actions, while also raging at Adrien for any small slight and denying that he also suffers. I guess Marinette can be excused for being traumatized and stressed, but being a victim of horrific abuse is too less of a reason for Adrien to be excused, and I guess it means he isn't suffering. To them, only Marinette's feelings and suffering matters. And this has also become true for the show, because Adrien's feelings don't matter, only Marinette's feelings about him matter.
And the worst fucking thing I've seen from this fandom is the occasional post about how Adrien is "spineless" and "cowardly" and "doesn't have a backbone" because he is non-confrontational and doesn't get up in arms about everything. And, aside from the fact that there is absolutely nothing wrong with not flying into a righteous rage about everything, this is some fucking heavy victim blaming bullshit. Like, y'all know that Adrien is like that because he's a victim of abuse, right? That his actions are a trauma response, right? It's called fawning. How awful of Adrien to have been conditioned into being non-confrontational by an abusive father who wants him to be subservient to his every whim! How useless is he for being traumatized because of the abuse he suffers! What a loser!
Honestly, the deranged Marinette stans are the worst. If someone says that shit about Adrien, they can go fuck themselves honestly. The gall to accuse a character who is an abuse victim of being "a spineless worm who can't grow a backbone" (someone legit wrote this word for word). Acting like he's the scum of the earth for not agreeing with Marinette 24/7 and victim blaming him for not rising swords drawn the moment someone does something mean to her.
So yeah, I understand you anon. It's really annoying to see all these "hot takes" going around. But there are still many Marinette fans who are nice and don't say all this goofy shit about Adrien, and there are plenty of Adrien stans who love and defend our boy. My advice is to block the salt tags, follow the right blogs and curate your experience the best you can. Trust me, it took a while for me to learn to stop putting myself through the agony of looking through these salt posts and to start blocking tags and salters' blogs. But I'm better off for it now. It won't stop some of these posts from popping up here and there, but it'll massively improve your fandom experience.
Thank you for your ask!

merry christmas and happy holidays, @bittersweetresilience! i'm your secret santa!
summary
Félix doesn’t miss the soul bond between him and Adrien until it’s gone.
excerpt
She could be old, Félix tells him. She could be thirty.  The cold dredge of fear that shudders through Adrien’s mind is almost worth all the time he’s kept Félix up tonight, parading his red and black fantasies through the silence.  You’re awake? Adrien asks, humiliation edging his thoughts. How much of that did you see? Too much, Félix replies. Although it’s not as bad as that time she rescued you. That’s when I knew I had to learn to turn it off. So you have been turning it off. Adrien’s voice is accusatory, his sense of chagrin warring with a strange, guilt-ridden relief. I didn’t even know that was possible.
i hope you like it sunny 💚❤️💚❤️💚 you deserve the whole world and also the moon. muah love you!!! enjoy some sad senti-twins for the soul!

A deserved mistletoe
I wrote this for @lukacouffaineappreciation The 7 Days of Luka’s Christmas (super late, I know ^^;)
Dec. 24: Mistletoe
Summary: (Juleka's POV) Not wanting to see her brother hurt ever again, Juleka is protective of whoever approaches Luka with dubious intentions. What she didn't expect was for him falling in love with Marinette at first sight. What could she do now?
AO3
(Thank you @celestiall0tus for checking it for me!)
Enjoy?
_________________________
Deep down, Juleka knew she could blame no one but herself for the current situation.
Years of hissing, deathly glares and a few stabbed voodoo dolls- all for nothing. Just because she had a slip. Because after the many attempts of boys and girls flirting and trying to date her brother she prevented, it didn't even cross her mind that his brother could be the one falling for someone for a change. Even worse, falling for a girl who had a crush on someone else- which is why she let her guard down in the first place...
And now, Luka was full of sappy songs about Marinette and she could do nothing except for warning him.
“You should forget about Marinette”
“Why?”
“She is in love with someone else”.
“I know. That's fine. I'm just happy spending time with her. And I'm happy she doesn't dislike spending time with me”
His words irked her. “Just forget about her, please!”
Her words were useless. He kept playing those songs, messaging, chatting and hanging out with Marinette.
Didn't he get it!? That's what she had tried to prevent all these past years! Scaring all these people who approached Luka for either his looks, his talent or his kindness. Which became harder when he changed schools, but she still worked relentlessly for it. She did it to protect him from this. From heartbreak. And she had no doubts this love he was experiencing at the moment could end in nothing but that.
____________
After their first meeting, seeing Luka and Marinette together become more and more frequent. Juleka couldn't help it but feel both frustrated and irritated. Why wasn't he listening to her warnings!?
She groaned and left a deep, unusual sigh.
“What's wrong, my love?” Rose approached, with a quick peck in the lips and sitting on her girlfriend’s lap. Juleka surrounded her closer with one arm around her waist and another on her upper legs.
Juleka didn't answer, but the way she darted her eyes towards Luka and Marinette said enough.
“They look so happy, don't they? They would make such a cute couple!” Rose squealed.
“No”
“No?”
“I don't like it.” Rose blinked at her girlfriend’s bluntness.
“Why not? Don't you want him to be happy? With somebody?”
“Of course I do, but that's impossible” Juleka’s teeth clenched against each other.
“Why do you say so?” Rose blinked again.
“Because Luka is the best and most wonderful person I know. No one deserves him! He's too good for this world! He's too good for anyone!”
“But-”
“When mom refused to tell us about dad, Luka was devastated. I don't want to see Luka like that ever again. I don't trust anyone. I want to protect him from heartbreak as much as I can!” Juleka explained with frustration.
“But he seems to like Marinette… isn't that a good thing?”
“No! Of course it's not!” Juleka's grip tightened around Rose’s inner thigh. “You've seen her with Adrien and her crush on him. She'll end up hurting Luka and I don't want it! I'm not going to let it happen!”
“But Juju, Marinette told us she was over Adrien and that she doesn't even understand what she saw in him anymore... She asked us to stop all our plans too, remember?”
“She could do that to Luka”
“You think so?” Rose cupped and caressed her girlfriend’s face. “I'd say she matured, don't you agree? Besides, she looks very happy around Luka. Both of them look happy. The happiest I've seen them in a while, actually”
Juleka knew Rose was right. Admitting it wasn't easy or pleasant, but it was too obvious to deny it. And she would never lie to her girlfriend.
“I know…no matter what I do to try to keep them from meeting or getting closer, they always manage to go back together. They're like satellites gravitating around each other and there's nothing I can do to make them stop. It's like going against the laws of physics: impossible. Which is why it frustrates me so much” she took a deep breath before continuing. Luka deserves only the best. And that person doesn't exist.”
“But Juleka, you know Marinette! She's wonderful! She's kind, hard worker, creative and always willing to help others. Doesn't she deserve the best too?”
“Well…”
“I think if there's someone in this world who deserves Luka, that would be Marinette. And someone who deserves Marinette would be Luka. Look at them. How happy these two wonderful pair look together. Don't you think they deserve each other?”
Once again, she knew Rose was correct. If Luka was the best boy Juleka knew, Marinette was the kindest, most wonderful girl she knew (excluding Rose, of course). And, apparently, she had already moved on from that crush... She obviously matured, seeing how she handled her meetings with Luka now.
She wanted her brother to be happy. And maybe… maybe Marinette could make him happy, after all…
“Rose, would you help me with something?” Juleka softened.
“Of course!” Rose grinned knowingly, planting a kiss on cheek.
__________
“Juleka?” Luka asked as his sister pulled him towards the back of the Liberty. “What-”
“Shh!” that's all Juleka said, and it was enough for him to shut up and follow her in silence.
She placed him at a certain spot. Alone. And he gave his sister a questioning look. “Hm?”
A moment later, Rose arrived, pushing Marinette towards where the siblings were. “Wait Rose- where are you- Oh”
Rose stopped, making Marinette stand face to face with Luka. Both of them immediately smiled, and Rose grabbed Juleka's arm and left them on their own.
“Hi again” Luka smiled, in that soft way he always did only for Marinette.
“Hi” There was a blush on her face as she smiled softly, back at him. “Do you know what this is about?” she signaled their surroundings and the girls leaving.
“No clue” he giggled. Her own giggle in response to his made her bend a bit, so it forced her to look up and-
“Oh” the blush immediately intensified, leaving Luka curious. “Uhm…”
He understood it when he followed her eyes up.
A mistletoe.
A million thoughts came to Luka's mind. Was this a way for Juleka to say she finally approved of Marinette for him? He had been aware of her doings for a long time, but for him, his sister always came first, so she let her do as she pleased. As long as she was happy... But then he met Marinette and his world became upside down with the new acquired feeling: love. He fell for her, and he knew it was forever, so he decided to become unusually selfish, going against his sister's wishes for the first time ever. And now, after weeks of showing disapproval, she was telling him he could date Marinette, giving him her blessings, by giving him a chance to kiss and confess to the girl he loved.
He was not going to waste it.
He smiled kindly, happy and grateful for Juleka's approval, before his eyes locked on Marinette’s. He straightened his arm lightly, to hold her hand on his, making her blush even more and gaze down in embarrassment, looking at her hand on his and how well they fit together.
Cute.
“Marinette” he called for her attention and she hummed to show she was listening. “Can I kiss you?”
“Eh!?” It didn't seem possible, but her blush intensified even more. He rubbed the back of her hand in a calming, reassuring way to ease her nerves and surprise. She breathed again, but her heartbeats were loud in her chest. Once grounded, thanks to his kind touch, and finally understanding this was reality and not the dream she’d had a thousand times, the answer to his question was easy. “Yes, please”
The way he beamed, his smile widening, made the butterflies in her stomach go crazy, but after that first agitated second, she found inner calm with the long-awaited contact. Their lips met halfway, the two gravitating pair finally crashing together by the powerful feeling of love warming them from heart to toes. No definition of the word “happiness” could ever be as accurate as what they felt at that moment.
The blush on Marinette remained when they separated, but her shyness was changed for the warmest smile he had ever seen on her. One that mirrored his.
“Would you be my girlfriend, Marinette?”
She answered with a big smile and jumped to give him a tight hug and kiss him again.
___________________
“Marinette and I are dating,” Luka said, sitting next to her before dinner. “Thank you, Juleka”
“Hm” she hummed at her glass of water and, after a long pause, she mumbled her biggest wish in a very low voice: “I hope you're happy forever”
Surprised, Luka turned to look at her with wide eyes. He could tell there was a rare, slight blush under the hair curtain covering his sister's face. He smiled fondly at her.
“I have the best sister, the best mother and the best girlfriend in the world. I'm the happiest. I can't ask for anything better”
Juleka drank some water to cover her blushy smile, just when a sudden message alert arrived at Luka's phone. The way he beamed left no doubt of who the sender was. The goth girl smiled fondly at her brother: seeing him happy made her happy too. “They really do deserve each other,” she thought.
Suddenly, she was a bit embarrassed of her own past protective behavior. Maybe she had been too much- and a bit jealous, too (even if she was never going to admit it). She should have known Luka had enough love for everyone- his sister, their mom and his new girlfriend included- and how kind hearted and good Marinette was. Now, she was proud of having contributed to their happiness.
