Gently down the Stream

A repaint of an Inktober piece from 2020. I never got the light to work as I wanted but like the idea, so I mounted the original drawing to carton and painted it in acrylics. There is a making-of article in my blog, https://jenniferslange.wordpress.com/2023/08/31/float-acrylic-painting-and-timelapse-gif/ Now I am much more happy with the outcome. I am currently repeating quite a few drawing as paintings, usually simply overpainting the original, that I liked but wasn't happy with the final. Inktober pieces are typical candidates with the rush of getting one image done per day and therefore ending up with a lot of images that may not always have had the treatment they deserved; but that's what the other eleven months are for ;)

Go get lost for a while. Get comfy, get hydrated, and exit that there door of yours and just start walking. Having some friends along helps, but I'm sure you'll meet some along the way, as well. Maybe a wandering squirrel, maybe a group of punk kids at a park. To feel lost is oddly enough such a grounding feeling. To have to aim but the wind.. no destination, no goal. Lose yourself completely in this moment. Camp HJ – A Fortieth Birthday Adventureparty

I turned forty two weeks ago. I thought I was cool with it, found out I wasn’t and then quickly got cool with it again. Want to know how? I threw a big Adventureparty.

Six months ago, I started planning. I knew I wanted a summer camp theme, I knew I wanted tube socks involved and I wanted food at the end.

I got what I wanted. (Plus, I got to snuggle some babies.)
