What i just got from watching midnight museum is that dome/chan/the one is a dynamic so close to the holy trinity (but a very dark and f ed up version) like idk if someone already mentioned but

to me the one is like the holy spirit since he doesn't seem to have an actual body, he just travels to different bodies as much as he likes and seems to know everything about everyone almost like he just watches things from afar

Chan at first i wanted to put him as the father aka god but he had this whole dying plot which was so similar as the jesus dying for our sins plot that im more certain he might be the son aka jesus, cause he also comes back the second time years later quite like the bible says will happen

And that would lead to dome being...god? (that would be funny how everyone sees him as a god and he's just..who are you calling god? me??) I mean that would explain his powers that seems to be the most powerful out of the three but i still feel like both of them could switch places i'll probably need more thought about it

And yeah the last thing why i think it makes sense is that no one knows if they are 3 different people/beings or not and with the holy trinity concept they are both just one entity (and have one body of gun) and also 3 different beings at the same time and to me it just seems like a less confusing way of seeing them. They are all god and all powerful but each a different entity in a way

on chises family, "a storm brewing in the east," and future arcs

hello im back from two years of not posting on this sideblog to spitball a theory thats been burning a hole in my brain since i caught up with the manga. all loose speculation, id be extremely interested to hear thoughts on this

now that fumiki is back in the picture, id like to theorize that yuuki hatori will soon follow. for the purpose of this theory im going to skip all the reasons why yori is absolutely fumiki. imo theres no point addressing all the evidence here, but id be happy to summarize if not. more attention being paid to chises life in japan, chise wondering why her father "abandoned his role," and elias expressing curiosity over the circumstances that led her to meet seth are all hints towards yuukis story coming to light

one thing TAMB does that i love is how tertiary characters are facsimiles meant to help us understand our main characters. for example, all the "toxic" pairs we see in season 1 that we are meant to compare and contrast elias and chise to, all in various ways that help us understand the ways their relationship might evolve. these minor characters may seem unimportant, but are preparing us to accept developments in the main cast. i believe there are two characters in the college arc that are prepping us for yuuki hatoris story - seth noel and adam sargent

lets first address fumiki, who ill just call yori. yori seems to have mastery over his eyes, which "have the power to bind [fae]" according to gabriella. this is a power both he and yuuki have, which protects chise and chika for a time. however, chika implies in chapter 19 that he didnt always have this ability, or perhaps didnt have the sight at all until he became involved with her. which is strange, considering yori has a "family business" important enough to require he study abroad to train for:

lets run with the idea that yuuki started off with weak or nonexistent powers. have any other men in this series been booted from their families because they lacked the skill?

its possible that this "family business" (assuming yuuki didnt found it himself, and that yori doesnt just mean the church, which i dont think he does because he seems specialized in exorcism) eventually learned that yuuki acquired his binding powers, as well as a child with the same ability. again, are there are other men who are forcibly dragged back into their family, to the detriment of their young daughters?

theres a few reasons why i think such care and time was put into the backstory of philomelas family. chise has done much of the character growth thats possible for her at this time, and attempts to "fix" philomela as a way of fixing herself. she projects on her, and for good reason too, since we are meant to compare them almost 1:1. i believe that the amount of time sunk into adam sargents story is meant to warm us up to understanding yuukis situation, regardless of whether we are meant to forgive him for his abandonment. seths story, too, introduces us to the idea of magical families booting their unworthy kin. which leads us to:

going back to the screencap for the beginning, lets give yuuki the benefit of the doubt and assume hes being truthful when he promises hell be back for the girls one day. this phrasing is really interesting, and i feel like it implies yuuki knows the place hes going is too dangerous for them. assuming hes returning to his family, or to some sort of organization (which i say because yori is part of the conclave/church), perhaps hes afraid that theyll be taken advantage of. or... maybe he was just lying! there is very little we understand about the church, so there are all manner of reasons why yuuki and yori may have ended up involved with them

so, great, okay. fumiki is here, and yuuki may be coming soon. under what context might he show his face? i have some ideas, but this soon into the arc everything is too subject to change. im also not convinced any of this will be addressed in the fiendbane arc. after all, yori was first introduced at the beginning of the college arc, and is only now becoming relevant. so all of this may only be laying the groundwork for yuuki to return in another arc, if not this one, which appears to have a lot cooking already with the dragon, the new mage, etc. but then again, we get oberons little prophecy:

i think we all understand this is japan, right. like, it has to be. it doesnt seem that oberons phrasing in the JP text matches what the great wall of china is called in japanese, but i dont think we are meant to interpret it any other way. what else could it mean, hadrians wall? cmon

all of this focus on chises family, past, and meeting with seth are perhaps warming us up to these people and places becoming relevant when the storm breaks. and i believe yori and yuuki will be the ones to involve chise in it all. now, at this point its clear yori doesnt know who chise is, and is just as likely to not know he had a sister at all. but i think this guy knows:

now... i double checked, and im almost certain this is not seths bodyguard. they have similar hair and fashion, but seths bodyguard parts his hair to the side. its been so long since yuuki has appeared in the manga that its impossible to know for sure if this is him, and im not confident at all that he is. they share some qualities for sure, but that doesnt mean much in this medium. he certainly has yoris swooping hair, at least, so if hes not yuuki he might still be related to him. in the same family business, perhaps? all we know is that hes been here before, and may have been keeping tabs on them in the same way the church does

the use of "wrest" in the above panel is notable here. to wrest is to forcibly take something, and what kind of "blessing" would they want to seize from elias' possession? maybe a useful slay vega that yuuki failed to disclose? if, IF this is yuuki, his demeanor has changed much over the years, and perhaps he is more willing to put chise to use now that he knows where she is. its possible yuuki is making good on his promise, and really is coming back for his daughter like he said he would. we have, after all, seen in chapter 99 how liam and isaac are both unwilling to return to their homes, and the sudden development of philomela being taken in by the scrimgeours. again, philomela is meant to be a near 1:1 chise dupe, so its compelling that we are just now seeing her spirited away to join another family without warning. again, developments among secondary characters prep us for developments among the main cast

again, too soon to tell, and the next chapter is coming soon, so theres a chance this will all immediately blow up in my face. however, we have already seen chise get scouted by another mage, and elias considers how frightened he is that chise will desire something "he cant provide." so how catastrophic would it be if she was also compelled to rejoin her family, searching for answers and closure in a way elias cannot understand? personally id love to see it, though itll be a long way off

im probably ranting sooo much and im not even finished thats whats worse,, i saw from a twt post again from a ktokki that in some of the concept pics, hanni is the odd one out,, like in some pictures shes the only one thats looking directly at the camera and in others shes the only one not looking at it. theres also some other ones where her face is covered completely and/or her back is facing the camera (even when the others are turned around too, some parts of their faces can be seen but hanni's face us just... not there???)

mafuyu: my favorite in the whole game. its odd considering that i used to absolutely hate her. i hated her for the same reason that most ppl hate her. i thought that everyone was overreacting to her problems but then i realized i was projecting my own insecurities onto that so i started to love her. ill pull her mothers hair out in clumps

kanade: my second favorite in the whole games. i just relate to mafuyu more. her hair is nice. we both hate going outside ♡︎ idk how shes paying the bills but either way i feel bad for her she lost so many ppl she loves & shes trying to protect someone she loves & i want a friend like her but i dont think itd be healthy but do i care? not really. i love kanade i wanna give her a comfy blanket to sleep with.

Id love to hear your extensive belle character analysis

It's a bit difficult to just broadly say anything about belle because, like pretty much every character in petscop, theres about 20000 different ways you could look at her and a lot of mechanisms that we only get little glimpses of, so a broad question like "what's belle's DEAL" is hard. No one knows for sure, and i think thats very deliberate; ultimately, petscop is a story presented to us by as early as the 9th episode through a filter of what the family considers "important" and what contributes to their narrative, and belle is tacitly not that, unless she happens to be near to the other things that ARE important to them (Rainer and paul, namely.) and thats actually probably a big part of her big inner conflict -- I'm gonna get more into it under the cut.

Essentially her entire conflict, character arc, and motivations, are only visible during the instances in which it intersects with Paul and care's. Here's a few things we know about her without having to extrapolate:

Belle is lina leskowitz's adopted kid. The where, when, why, and how of this is never stated. Garalina/rainer may have been involved. See new life letter in 23 and OST ending. As demonstrated in 22, she seems to be pretty insecure about her status as "family". She's touchy about it.

Sometime around 1995-1997, belle was involved with the initial testing of the game, when she became involved with rainer, who appears to have attempted to rewrite her identity-- the mechanisms, timeline, and reason for this is something we can only make educated guesses about. (All of this information is in episode 12; it must be between 95 and 97 because petscop did not exist until 95 and rainer either died or disappeared in 97.)

Belle has a copy of the game that she has apparently left on in accordance with rainer's instruction since ~2000. She is extremely knowledgable about obscure functions of the game, and adept at a skillset unique to it -- note her speedy in-game typing, knowledge of the nifty function, and expertise with the piano.

Contrary to the implication in the game that she is "stuck" somewhere, this is only true of her in-game avatar. The reason why she became softlocked in her room is pretty apparent considering the way rainer talks about the results of their collusion in 12. Nonetheless she's free to do whatever in the physical real world. See episode 22. (Game theory HATES this video because paul and belle go hang out at 7 11)

Belle is at least at the beginning of the series feigning ignorance about her involvement with the game. We learn in 22 that she is the person who paul was initially addressing the videos to, and that person also apparently expressed doubt about whether or not paul was lying about petscops existence.

Belle is in some capacity at multiple points in the series sharing a physical space with marvin, and passing his messages along to paul. (This assumes pink tool is belle, but their handwriting is identical if you look at it, so I hope that's not too contentious.) See episodes 5 and 7. She seems to have some ulterior reason for wanting to get the machine in the game working.

This is slightly less self evident, but it appears she does have a degree of genuine care for her brother; she tries to get him out of a dangerous situation in 23 though its ultimately futile, is apologetic about the circumstances, and appears to attempt to comfort and reassure him in the OST ending -- I'm going to talk about belle like she might be a pretty self serving person with some emphasis on how it negatively effects paul in a minute, so i thought it was important to list this too.

And honestly, that's about the extent of it. Everything you could possibly come up with is entirely composed of those 7 things that are essentially everything that's even remotely concrete. Everyone has to draw their own conclusions on how they feel about belle from all of that. There's a couple other bits and bobs of evidence that are more questionable that I'm also going to bring up, but that's the meat of it.

From this base of evidence i've put together some things that make pretty decent sense to me. I can relay them to you, but they're no more true than anything anyone else could assume given the same evidence. Maybe it will make sense to you, maybe it won't.

One last thing before i lay it out, I can't really get into the deeper reason why I think this way because it would be an even longer essay, but i'm working off the assumption belle's adoption had very little or nothing to do with petscop. Some people will talk about her being adopted into the family because of her participation in the testing but thats contingent on the notion that garalina is like an actual company and I literlaly cannot get into that but for the sake of simplicity we'll assume that the timeline goes belle was adopted -> belle tested petscop -> events as opposed to belle tested petscop -> belle was adopted -> events.

The way i see it is this: the core conflict driving belle's actions both leading up to and during the story is an insecurity in who she is and where she fits in her family. the family outside of lina, paul, and rainer, seem completely unconcerned with her; they crop her out of videos, they don't seem even remotely bothered or interested when paul mentions her, they don't seem to care much about her presence at all. if this is the way things have been since she was a kid, it would explain her insecurity in the present when referred to as 'not family'; and rainer would be exactly the type of person to see a child being treated that way and figure that he could "fix" it, espescially considering his apparent belief that someone can be subsumed into whatever "family" means to him through certain means (see caskets in episode 20). No matter what exactly it was that happened there, the result is the same: it appears to have messed her up pretty bad. She ended up in a transitory in-between state ; whatever this process involved, she started it, she made significant progress, and ended up permanently changed by it, but she never completed it. In this way, belle is stuck between two selves, and with rainer gone, she has no """Guidance"""" as to how to consolidate them. This is where i think her behavior in the actual meat of the series comes from. It seems that she came to the conclusion at some point that this in-between state was very real, and that she needed to finish what got started back when she was a kid. ...which would explain pretty well why she's consisntely subjected herself to the game for such a long time. things like the needles piano that she's become exceptionally good at were both portions of the process she was apparently taught could rewrite her identity (and maybe make her a real member of the family) and also the only things she could access from her little softlocked room. for an absurdly long amount of time, she's been practicing, trying to find some kind of solution that could close the loop so to speak. to me, this is her deal. she wants to Be Finished. she seems to take it extremely seriously. whiiiiiiich gives her reason to be colluding with marvin: he is aware of how to do that, and it seems like he tells her how. even though this is clearly not a beneficial situation and in petscop 5 seems to be putting her in active physical danger, she has freedom to come and go as she pleases and still willingly and continually gets involved with marvin. the way i see it, Its an extremely elaborate self harm game that she's playing in a desperate bid for closure. this is why i've recently started to feel like she might not actually be as averse to paul playing the game as i initially felt . her getting out of her softlocked room is something that only paul could help her with, and only paul could gather the other 500 pieces necessary to power the machine -- the process requires both copies of the game with pieces in it (marvin's copy does not have them.). in a wacky coincidence, belle seems to be able to have the ability to manipulate some portions of the game world, and the door that allows paul into the main corridors below the plane opens up with a tone that is distinctly linked to the times belle fucks with the game world. as unsafe of a situation that it put paul in, belle's big chance to finally resolve this 20 year old internal conflict that seems to have been commanding her life since she was a child opened up the second paul found that game. and when you think about it , espescially given pauls very stubborn personality, "I don't believe you" is not a very good way to get someone to not play a game. in fact, it kind of sounds like something someone would say when they realyl want you to play a game! Just some food for thought. ultimately, she does end up finishing the process, before paul does -- her egg is in the locker, finally, after 20 years of her menu space sitting there unused and incomplete. doesn't seem like she feels very good about everything that happened though.

Hopefully my logic makes sense here. I feel like i've integrated the information in the way that makes the most sense to me, and hits hardest! As always all of this is just the way i put together the informaiton presented and not at all something that I consider textually correct, it's just my own inner world here.

awawawa ty for the questions ! i’ll try to answer to the best of my ability , , , under the cut for length !

firstly , my number one most important tip is to just have fun with it ! it’s really easy to get burnt out quickly from editing & it’s important to establish boundaries . even if you’re begging for requests , if the requests you do get turn out to be uninspiring or demotivating - deny them ! trust me , you might feel discouraged , but it’s better to create an environment that YOU work well in rather than bend over backwards & stress yourself out . ( this is less of an editing tip and more of a blog tip , i suppose )

i’m not really sure what you mean by sources ? ( sorry ,, )

as for overlays , i haven’t used overlays in a while so i can’t really say . . .

polarr filters are on the easier side of editing accessibility , in my opinion . generally , just mess around & find out ! you’ll eventually find a style you like . although personally , i tend to utilize the duo tone overlays on polarr a lot ! ( i usually do a base editing style leaning toward the theme i’m going for and then just mess around with duo tones until it looks right )

honestly , i think its fine either way & really just depends on preference on whether you should aim for consistency ! edits can be good even if they’re not consistent . it’s a good goal to aim for if you DO want consistency , though .

motivation is a really tough subject to tackle , and i think it ties into the first paragraph i wrote . if you force yourself to do stuff that demotivates you , you’ll be demotivated . it’s really a game of knowing your limits and not pushing yourself too hard . even then , it’s totally fine to get burnt out & demotivated !

as for any more advice , hm . i recommend brushing up on basic color theory ! you don’t have to get too far into it , but it’s good to learn ( because colors are really the backbone of edits , if you think about it )

i also recommended looking at how different blending modes work in an art program ! again , it’s good to know about the stuff you work with .

& don’t be afraid to mix programs ! like a feature / layout of one program but prefer another for specific things ? just use both ! ( for me , this means filtering in polarr & doing tinier adjustments + blur effects in ibis paint x )

and again . . . just have fun with it ! at the end of the day , editing is a hobby , and you shouldn’t stress yourself out over it if you can help it ! !

the whole guizhong reincarnation thing with ningguang really has me thinking and honestly it makes me lean towards the ningguang and zhongli pairing a lot. now im not the biggest fan of zhongli’s story (in terms of his current whereabouts and choices) BUT the idea of him leaving li yue in charge of his dead wife’s reincarnation scratches a particular itch in my brain.

theres a lot that kind of points to the theory of reincarnation with ningguang and some of the more notable ones that ive noticed are listed below. a spoiler warning is in effect so scroll at your own risk!

- she is extremely powerful for a geo user. a lot of geo character abilities revolve around construction (hence geo construction inc. being a meme), but this could fit in thematically of being a fallen god that is rebuilding what was lost to her. her shield (?) ability is different than other geo characters. zhongli literally creates a pillar, lumine/aether build...a more stout pillar, and albedo has a lotus elevator lol. but ningguangs is more functioning as a wall of protection while also not exactly being physical per say. it looks more like a transparent scroll when unrolled, sort of like transluscent magic at play.

- in the fight against osial, ningguang uses a lot of magic that does not look elemental based lol. it just looks like...pure magic. i wonder where she picked that up or if shes just naturally gifted in channeling magic like that. there were lots of symbols that did not look geo related in many of the cutscenes. but thats just my observation. 

- her ascension materials include glaze lillies which we all know zhongli will NOT shut up about. even if current glaze lillies aren’t the “real deal” as zhongli puts it, having them be her ascension materials is a big deal. im not entirely sure about the entire story revolving around them but i believe they carry a symbolic meaning of the wishes of people (i remember lumine had to sing to one to harvest it correctly or something). it seems to bear a lot of importance to zhongli and his past, and i may be remembering this incorrectly/it may be a fanmade fact but i believe rex lapis and guizhong led their people through fields of glaze lillies during the archon war. plus you can find all sorts of fanart of zhongli standing in a field of them lol.

- ningguang mentions having a dream where rex lapis came to her before she had to rally the qixing against osial in the last archon quest. idk if other archons do that or if zhongli regularly shows up in people’s dreams, but its a “hmm” moment considering zhongli did plan to leave the fight up to the adepti and the qixing. perhaps it was his way of passing on his duty to ningguang by visiting her in a dream to help her in her fight. not only that, he was close to guizhong. perhaps he is giving back what he feels was hers to begin with? part of li yue’s rule? who knows.

- a LOT of fanmade designs of guizhong mirror that of ningguang’s. this isnt like a “ahah its coming together” moment as much as the ones mentioned above but its a neat tidbit regardless

- ningguang started from nothing before becoming one of the richest if not richest person in li yue. her decision to sacrifice the jade chamber shows her selflessness and devotion to her people, qualities that guizhong most likely exhibited towards her own people before her tragic death. not only that, it fits thematically with the concept of archons, meaning that it was possible for humans themselves to ascend to celestia (though i think you have to be a vision bearer to be able to do that). assuming that all gods in ancient times started as nothing (such as venti being nothing but an elemental being) and had to earn their spot in celestia, then ningguangs path to success and rulership closely resembles it, albeit in more modern terms.

- zhongli definitely does know about ningguang and shows quite a lot of respect for her, even chiding people about not touching pieces of ningguang’s property after fragments of it fell from the sky after the fight against osial. okay, sorry, tangent time, but how does he know that stuff was part of her tea set? or is he just good at guessing everything lol? did he ever go to the jade chamber and have tea with ningguang? who knows.

and some of my personal reasons why i like the pairing:

- yes childe can be zhongli’s wallet but ningguang could be his vault 

- their color pallets match so well. its kind of like how chongyun and xingqiu’s match perfectly lol.

- they are both tall. you get a tall aunt and uncle. posh wine aunt and broke uncle vibes?

- the idea of them being intrigued by each other due to past lives and connections- im a sucker for that idea

- zhongli learning human connection while also still having a part of guizhong with him at all times?? exquisite

- its rare. im gonna be honest, some rarepairs just make me smile and i wish more people considered them. the only other one i can think of rn is scaramona (but mostly because their colors fit well together again).

hello i would like to hear about otherkin history from you! and maybe even your kins!! i wanna know more :D

ok so!! basically the otherkin community started in the 1960s when elfinkind- people who spiritually identified as elves from lord of the rings- created a community thru mailing lists and the like, specifically the elfinkind digest. towards the 70s and 80s, more species than just elves discovered themselves, and the world otherkind became common use. this became the word otherkin thats used most commonly today. in 2004, the word otakukin was created, basically ppl who were otherkin of character from anime. this was changed to fictionkin to allow ppl from a variety of sources to use the same word. the word mediakin is also used, albeit less commonly, by those who dont want their sources to be called fiction. as for what otherkin / fictionkin is, the term combines a couple of experiences, with the msot common one being that you believe you were a character in a past life due to the multiverse theory*. (tho theres also the. i want to say colloquial but i feel thats not the right word? so. the often-used meaning of the term, which is “character u relate to.” & relating to characters is fine but thats not the actual meaning of the word- synpath, copinglink, mirrorlink, kith, and otherhearted all exist for that purpose) *(the multiverse theory is basically the theory that theres infinite alternate universes. its rlly fun to watch youtube videos abt when ur on a bunch of pain meds after getting ur wisdom teeth out kjfgfk) as for me & my kins: i figured out i was kin in. early 2018 i think? id known abt otherkin for several years, full transparency i would look up "otherkin cringe" on pintrest in 2016. & 2018 was around the time that kff ("kin for fun" - synpaths/copinglinks/etc using the word kin, basically) was taking off but i still understood the word by its original definition. anyway. yknow when u suddenly get a super strong memory that u havent thought abt in years? i had one of those except it was for sure not of something that happened to me, and it was for sure something that happened to jared kleinman and i was kind of like. The crew kept trying to get the Marrow and Blake convo about Atlas faunus (and Marrow reaching out to Blake to connect over how theyre both faunus) in but it kept getting cut. We will be getting it in a future volume

YES!!!! I really wanted this (both the convo and the bonding) and i thought itd make the Ace Ops vs RWBY more painful. By "a future volume" does that mean Marrow will be in more than just V8???? (Does this mean hes leaving Atlas with RWBY or are we getting a third Atlas vol?)

The merge has begun, and Oscar had been accessing Ozpin's memories ("a city in the sky is held to a higher standard")

Okay i knew the merge begun as soon as Ozpin woke up in Oscar but hearing it confirmed that it didnt stop with Ozpin hiding (which makes sense) makes me a little sad. Oscar got like a month where he got to be Just Oscar most of the time

I personally didnt really focus on or think about this moment that much but i know the fandom thought it was like a look of reassurance. It makes sense a lot of people forget that 1) Qrow is  suspicious of everyone all the time 2) Qrow is known not to like how Ironwood runs Atlas or how loyal Atlas soilders are

During the tundra fight Clover identified Qrow as the bigger threat, not Tyrian

All i can do is just remember the flood of post with "Clover should have focused on the bigger threat!" And like bro he did we just assumed he knew how dangerous and skilled Tryian is. But now that i think about it there was also a lot not known about him outside of the fact he was a serial killer, and Qrow is ranked among the best Huntsmen in Remenant (Ace Ops are the best Huntsmen in just Atlas) AND worked along Ironwood in the field before, so probably Ironwood briefed the Ace Ops on Qrow when RWBYJNROQ first arrived.

Weiss feels really unconfortable in the scenes with her mom, because she doesnt know how to help a adult with a adult problem

Somebody (i forgot sorry) pushed for Blake to hold Weiss' hand when she was facing her father. The rational was Blake is the only one who understands how hard this interaction is going to be while Yang and Ruby have no idea a father would ever say things like this to his daughter

Id love have it be Ren is aroflux but i dont think the crew would have that be the reason)

ok i have SO many thoughts about the game. consider this a messy ramble review about the game (spoilers ahead)

ok so gameplay wise. i really enjoy the game- lots of improvements but also! very very similar formula to the last game. when i realized that i was afraid it would feel too similar and boring, like the collection of the psychic 6 felt thorny towers-esque BUT it all came together in a very different way with much different dynamics at play. all the minds were so interesting and while really big, they weren’t so hard to move through and the changes of scenery in many definitely kept it all interesting.

concept wise- with minds and things. all the minds were real interesting- i like some more than others of course. but they all displayed some kinda metaphor that was pretty easy to grasp and i think thats important! as always i appreciate how the game tackles symptoms and ideas and not specifically named disorders. for one it means it wont be dated, but it also means anyone can find ways to relate regardless of labels. i think metaphor wise, bob’s was my favorite... that was a rough one. look wise? probably nona’s mind. just so colorful!

on dated terms, retcons. i cant be the only one  seeing retcons right? which is fine and good really. i think this game was a chance for them to backtrack and alter some old ideas. its been 16 years.... theres no way in hell whatever was in mind back then is true or good now. Ford’s mind situation was handle VERY well. as someone with DID i like ford, but it seemed clear to be they needed to tackle this as a psychonaut lore thing and not “multiple personality disorder with a twist” ya know? and it totally worked out. it made sense in his context and my god, so much more painful to see how it happened. it makes sense that a story would be told “wrong” in order to cover things up- it confused me at first as i noticed the retcons but as the theme of the story unravelled into that of distrust, it made sense. additionally of course the use of the g slur and raz’s curse. well, the twist-retcon really got me!! i didnt expect it and i think with the other elements of ford’s story it was a good way to handle it! post game, frazie mentions the galochios (which up to then hadnt been mentioned) where they call them “fortune tellers”. so yeah, they definitely changed that. and making a twist that took focus off the “galochios” as a whole was a good move.

on the story...... stated above a bit but man, so many twists i didnt see coming. lots of theories we had were very wrong probably because it was not based around the assumption that some things would be kinda.. retconned. and it was written in such a way it was a fun surprise. i can imagine some being upset but the writing in this game was just great. i feel they expanded on the lore and characters so well! in the start of the game i was quite shocked by the event of raz changing Hollis’ mind tbh, and we werent even that far into the game for me to be surprised by that. this game feels like it had much high stakes, which makes sense with such a large threat and now being more settled in this world with these characters. to go from raz doing something impulsive and distrusting to then having his own hero torn down in front of him because ford basically manipulated his family into living lies..... yeah, thats harsh. i do wish some more focus was on raz’s anger, i dont feel like he got a chance to be that angry at ford before they helped nona but, the connection raz makes with her was so heartfelt, it did help support that development. additionally this game carries the same sort T rated humor as the first, and i love that. it allows for a more serious angle and harder topics to flourish which still being quite funny. all in all i really liked the story, and while it feels quite conclusive, i dont really mind. i know id love to have a third game but its hard to imagine that happening.

and man. the little details! so much dialogue i need to hear on replays! i will be 100%ing the game too of course. and i love how they handled the curse post game, having raz be caught and supported by the water... was wondering how you’d play post game after that.

I'm pretty convinced they fooled around a bit, like the wanking circles and told themselves 'we just have a bit of fun with each other but it's not like we're gay.' John realised he was in love and somehow got the idea that Paul didn't return those feelings and so the relationship crumbled. Paul seems to regret not being more expressive and open with how he much he loved John.

Whilst I do believe overall that the most likely explanation is that John loved Paul, but Paul being straight didn’t love him back (not sure whether or not I believe John ever admitted to his attraction though, thats harder to say) there are times where I do think to myself that its pretty possible that they fooled around a bit when they were drunk or high or something - sometimes I even think it’d be the explanation that makes the most sense in relation to the deterioration of their relationship. It does feel like a lot of the time, that there was something transcending the emotional aspects of their relationship that ultimately led to an intense and strenuous breakup. Like it feels as though there must be more then just jealousy due to unrequited physical love. Physicality in a relationship I would argue brings a lot more complications to the emotional aspects, whereas keeping a relationship as solely emotional can keep it simpler (sometimes). Does that make sense? Like, you cant separate sex and emotion - sex complicates stuff, and we know they had a very, veryyyyyy complicated relationship. So it would explain some stuff.

I guess the problem with believing that they did fool around together though is that it is mostly speculation (but if you or anyone else wants to send me some reasons why you think it is convincing though, dont be shy to cause id be interested in hearing them!).

Whereas, with the one-sided, ‘John was in love with Paul’ theory, I think there’s a lot of rationality to it because there’s just so many quotes and stories and stuff that, to me, just don’t make a lot of sense when we view them through a heterosexual lens. I know that im alwayyyyyyssss mentioning this, and everyone must be sick of me bringing it up all the time, but John frantically marrying Yoko after finding out Paul married Linda just seems sooooooooo gay to me haha.

And I just think that exemplifies what im getting at here: that with Johns sexuality, theres a lot of reason to believe that he wasnt 100% straight, and theres also a lot of reason to believe he was attracted to Paul. But with Paul, as far as I can tell, there isnt so much reason to believe the same (again, feel free to drop me another message telling me why you think im wrong on that!)

Assuming that there was some physicality to their relationship though, I think it would be a casual thing (like the wanking circles), and probably they’d be drunk/on drugs when it happened. Not sure how often I think it would have happened, and im not sure how far I think they would’ve taken it, but yeah, assuming they did fool around I think it ultimately would’ve taken a toll on John, because he needed a wholly committed partner.

Paul does appear to regret not being more open with John, because I think you can hear him expressing that regret in songs like ‘Here Today’ and ‘This One’ etc. So maybe that gives more credence to the ‘they fooled around but then John wanted more and Paul wanted to keep it casual and “not gay”’ theory (?) but also, I think its true that Paul does regret not telling John he loved him more often (platonically or romantically) because John died such an abrupt death. Like at least with George they had time to sit down and actually forgive each other, and really bury the hatchet - I know John and Paul did end on a pretty good note with one another, but still, there must be a million things he regrets not telling him.

TL;DR I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that they fooled around a bit, and it does make sense to me (especially in explaining the intensity of the breakup), but im not totally convinced of it either because at the end of the day it feels more like speculation. Like id need more evidence to really get on board with it.

I looked intently over the shelf in front of me. I was in desperate need of groceries but was also hungry so going to the store was probably a bad idea. Right now was prime time for impulse buys but I couldn't decide which cookies I wanted, Oreos or nutter butters. I heard a sigh from behind me, shaking me from my thoughts and realizing someone was waiting for me. I made a quick minute decision, stepping to the side and reaching for the Oreos. Just as I was grabbing for them someone elses hand came crashing into mine, finally making me look up at the stranger.

"Sorry."

We both said at the same time, making me smile bashfully at him. I pulled my hand away to scratch the back of my neck.

"Uh, go ahead I think I'm still deciding."

He smiled at me as he took the pack and tucked it under his arm, shifting the case of vanilla coke in his other hand.

"Can't decide between regular or double stuff?"

He asked, joking a little bit. I let out a quick laugh at his comment.

"If only it where that easy. No my heart says Oreos but my brain says nutter butter."

He nodded in understanding, glancing quickly at what I already had in my cart. It wasn't much but it was almost period week so I was stocking up on a few favorites.

"Hey, why not both?"

I snorted a bit.

"I definitely don't think I need both."

He shrugged, side nodding.

"If you're worried about not being able to eat them all yourself I could gladly offer my services."

He said with a smile. Okay, so he was cute and clever.

"If I get both can I take you up on that offer?"

He laughed a little bit.

"If you'd like."

i smiled bashfully at him.

"Both it is then."

I said grabbing a pack of each and placing them in my cart. he had a wide smile on his face before reaching into his pocket.

"Here, wanna give me your number? I'll text you."

I nodded taking his phone from him and texting myself.

"And what am I saving you as kind sir?"

He let out a nervous laugh.

"Oh right, I'm Chris. And you are, y/n?"

He said looking down as his text history. I nodded.

"That I am, and it's nice to meet you Chris."

I said holding my hand out for him to shake.

"Likewise."

When the day finally came I was super nervous. Chris and I had been chatting for almost a week before deciding on a day for him to come over for a "date." Neither of us wanted to do anything crazy so we agreed on an at home picnic and movie type thing. It was nice in theory but it also meant that I had to speed clean my house and get food, now knowing he was vegan, or at the very least vegetarian. i wiped my hands on the towel before hearing a knock at my door. i took in a deep breath as i walked to the door and opened it. in front of me was chris, smiling widely and holding a small bouquet of flowers.

"what a nice surprise."

i said, taking them as he handed them over.

"i know you said you werent really a fan of fancy things but i thought itd be a nice gesture. after all you did insist i didnt bring anything but myself."

i laughed a little bit as i let him in, id always been the host type and hated making people do stuff i could do myself. in this case it was cooking and entertaining.

"its much appreciated, these are beautiful."

"well i did think of you when i was picking them out."

his words made me blush as i lead us both into the kitchen, getting a vase down and filling it with water.

"do you mind if i arrange these before we get started with the movie?"

he sat at one of the bar stools on the other side of the counter.

"be my guest."

i unwrapped the rubber band on them and slid them out of the plastic.

"i got everything out so if you wanna start eating youre more than welcome."

i said picking up a strawberry and popping it into my mouth, sending him a reassuring smile as i cut the stems of the flowers to fit in the vase.

"you really went above and beyond."

he said looking over what i had made. i wouldnt necessarily say it was a lot but i didnt really know what he liked so i got options.

"well if theres one thing i am its an overachiever."

i joked nervously and he sent me a smile, picking up one of the oreos and biting into it.

"theres nothing wrong with that. i could probably say the same of myself but im more of a perfectionist than an overachiever. everything always has to be just the way i want it, which is kind of hard when youre on the road all the time but you learn to work around it."

i nodded along to what he was saying.

"do you like it?"

he looked up at me with wide eyes.

"being on the road i mean. i know you said you were in a band but surely you must like it."

he laughed a little bit.

"oh yeah, im a real road rat. i love getting to travel all over the place and perform and just experience stuff."

i nodded along again, pushing the now full vase to the side and leaning into the counter with my arms crossed under me.

"i dont know if id ever be able to do that. like it sounds fun in theory but i think id yearn for a stable home life after a while."

he rubbed his hands across his thighs.

"yeah i get that, its not for everyone, specially for people who have careers and families but ive never really thought about that stuff as an interest. like yeah itd be cool to have a wife or at least life long partner but the kids and stuff ive never really entertained the idea of."

i smiled at him, laughing a little bit.

"same here, kids are kind of a no go for me. like dont get me wrong i love my nieces but taking care of a small human is so much work and its so time consuming."

"right? plus you have to worry about what theyre doing at every moment and i definitely dont need that kind of stress in my life."

i picked up a cookie and tapped it against the counter.

"ya know i never thought id be having a conversation about family goals on a first date."

i looked up at him and he smiled at me nervously.

"well i guess you just go where the conversation leads you right?"

i nodded before taking a bite of the cookie.

"that you do. but i guess since we're on the topic. have you been actively looking for someone to date?"

i raised a brow as he looked down at his lap, thinking about my question.

"if im being honest no, but with the life i have id be lying if i said i didnt miss not having someone to share stuff with. just like someone who gets me and is willing to be there for me."

i looked up at him with hopeful eyes that this would go well.

"and you think that might be me?"

he shrugged.

"maybe. id say things are going pretty well so far."

i half smiled.

"id say so too."

he picked up another oreo.

"what do you say about that movie?"

i perked up a bit.

"yes, you pick, i got out a few that i think you might like."

i stood up and walked into the living room, him being right behind me. i watched his face light up at what i had laid out on the coffee table.

"sick!"

he said picking a few up and looking at them.

"oh yeah, i definitely think this is going to go well."

i laughed a little at his reaction.

"which one first?"

Lol what's wrong with romancing the inventor? I've never heard of it and I love hearing people Go Off about books. Are there many ff books that youd reccomend people specifically not read?

So to start off, Gail Carriger is Extremely Popular. She writes these... Quirky Steampunk(??) books  and she’s got this whole Quirky Steampunk image that is already lowkey irritating to me but hey, you do you, if it makes you happy. But people kept going on and on about her books and I saw one of them was f/f so i thought “alright, i keep hearing about this one, it must be good?”

ITS NOT. ITS NOT GOOD. The heroine is this bland characterless husk that is constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY, described as extremely thin and white and ~beautiful~ by everyone, which again, irritating. All the vampires just want her, but oh no, shes but a measly maid! Honestly, the book starts of her being so horny for getting turned into vampire, i thought it was gonna be great, but it didnt really go anywhere, at least at the point where i had to drop the book. 

There is so much sexual harassment and assault! She gets constantly pawed at which was so gross!! The love interest was interesting in theory (a butch(??) mad scientist lady, or at least gail carriger’s idea of what a butch is lmao) but again, so bland. There was no chemistry between them either!!

But! What pissed me off the most was when the heroine from a previous series shows up and the protag of this one just mentally goes OFF about her. There's a scene where the protag, repeatedly described as beautiful and skinny and white meets the protag from the previous series and she describes her as 'too loud and too big with too big a nose and dark features' with this nasty tone and I was like 'oh you just described me'. She made a big deal of having a fat heroine in her series, and then she writes another heroine from a later series insult and fatshame her for her looks. What in the Actual Fuck!!!!!!!!! Fuck off!!! Also theres a thing in this series that italians have no soul(????????????), which uh, idk if you know anything about racial politics of europe, but its REALLY not a great look for a super pale white brit to write into her series that italians have no soul. Fucking yikes gail carriger, what the fuck

I dropped the book immediately after this because i was already bored and frustrated with everything else and then this bullshit!! And ever since then, any mention of this author makes me grit my teeth

Stormsong by CL Polk: read my review of the first book and tell me if you think the villainous sister is not only redeemable, but also deserving of her own book

Her Lady's Honor by Renée Dahlia: this is my biggest disappointment of this year. It promised a ww1 vet nurse and her captains daughter falling in love, and gave me miserable story with people being assholes to each other, and a terrifyingly blase treatment of violent parental abuse. I made it about 25% in before I had to bail 

The Lady and Her Secret Lover by Jenn LeBlanc: One of the most gorgeous covers slapped on probably THE most triggering book Ive ever read. I kept reading because I couldnt believe all the horrific things happening in this book. Read my review for more info 

Mrs. Martin’s Incomparable Adventure by Courtney Milan: in my experience, courtney milan’s books are on a VERY slippery sliding scale of quality, and this was a rock bottom. Written as a “stick it to the patriarchy, yeehaw!” “fun adventure”, it managed to make me literally sick with anxiety. Im not joking, this book made me so anxious my stomach started hurting. This book made me FURIOUS. Again, read my review for more details

I think to start off i should just make a little disclaimer, everything i am going to discuss will be based in my biases probably seeing as I am also a brown British Pakistani person who is Muslim. Zayn has been someone that especially when i was younger I looked up to and was very essential in my journey of learning to love and accept myself and my culture tbh. It’s cheesy as hell but it’s true and i think this is important to know before I go into this more because like I said i am definitely biased towards him. Another thing is that I’m just going to be discussing my personal opinions and also my memory is not very good so i will probably miss out a lot of other things that happened/could be discussed. please dont take this as anything more than just. my opinion.

A thing that really opened my eyes to racism and especially the racism in the 1d fandom was the day that zayn left. I dont think thats what the post above was about btw and ill go into that but i kind of just want to talk about this. The day he left was. a severe mess. Not only because it was obviously upsetting but because of all the bs that people were spouting about a situation that absolutely no one had any context on. the statement that was released on facebook gave us nothing. literally just stated that zayn was leaving the band and the accusations and hatred people were directing towards zayn when we didnt know what actually fucking happened (and still dont might i add) was disgusting. people accusing him of being selfish and how they hated him and why he had to ruin everything. Accusing him of using mental illness as an excuse and lying about it and so much more. i had unfollow more than half of the people i followed that day. it really opened my eyes to the fact that these were all thoughts and opinions people had underneath it all and zayn was fine as long as he was part of 1d and giving people what they wanted. which was essentially being the token in the group and once he wasnt providing that anymore? people turned and people turned fast.

i think its also important to point out the flip side of it and that was zayn stans saying that 1d were nothing without 1d etc. i want to talk about why this was different from ot4 stans hating zayn. of course it wasnt nice to see or hear EVERYONE arguing with each other. i hated it so much. but i think what people failed to realise was that when it comes to situations like this you need to look deeper and think about all the nuances of the situation. zayn stans being happy about zayn leaving the band and saying 1d was going to die i did not agree with. anyone who knew me then and knows me now knows that i am a 1d stan regardless (preferably ot5 but i supported 1d until the end even as a 4some) BUT these opinions were rooted in his mistreatment in the band and the racism he was having to face as a result of being in the band etc etc i apologise for not being a person who can better describe and explain this situation but hopefully you are getting the picture. when fans were hating on zayn. with no context with nothing. that was based on racism. point blank. the amount of tweets FROM 1D FANS talking about how he was leaving to join isis and how upset fans were gonna be vulnerable and join etc etc all this deplorable bs. and he had to deal with comments like that throughout his whole time with one direction and i imagine even now. 

Another thing id like to talk about is who zayn stans at least from my point of view usually were. For me i remember when i first got into the fandom i actively made the decision that i didnt want zayn to be my favourite because i didnt want to be a stereotype and this was a point in my life when i still tried to shun and push my culture down because i was ashamed of it. it was only as i slowly saw that zayn was considered as cool and hot and everyone else liked him that i kind of understood that maybe. being brown was alright and it was something cool and that maybe i was cool. it sounds fucked up and honestly i dont even know if i want to be admitting this so adamantly but argh if it helps someone understand then maybe its worth it. (mortifying ordeal of being known eh?) anyways i noticed as i engaged more in fandom and looked for more diversity, more fans like me, majority of non white fans were also... zayn stans. and honestly it makes sense because we all tended to flock towards the closest diversity we could find it seems. im not saying that there werent white zayn stans and that the other boys didnt have non white stans but i just wanted to point out this trend. so when you also take this into account and the fact that on the day zayn left it was majorly... white stans who were criticizing zayn it puts it in perspective for you. majority of fans who still like and support zayn are also not white.

there is a lot more to do with fans but hopefully thats enough of an insight and you can understand the kind of vibes that were present during 1ds prime and what not only zayn had to go through but also as a result the racism we ended up having to deal with as well tbh.

now!!!... something i dont really like talking about lol so this will probably be short but the other boys. so as far as i can remember liams always been kind to zayn since hes left (no surprise there <3 also please correct me if im wrong), niall was kind of indifferent/didnt say anything really, and then there was louis and harry *awkward smile*. hahaha. from my memory i remember when asked about what the most difficult thing was about zayn leaving harry said ‘the paperwork’ which was *awkward smile* and he also kicked that monkey mask/pinata? i cant remember with naughty boys face on it and honestly im sure theres more but his overall reaction to zayn leaving was kind of not caring and maybe being slightly nasty which :) with louis there was the massive twitter fight which literally tears my soul in half so lets not go into that haha and honestly other things where it maybe seemed like he was upset with zayn leaving as well. honestly i am a bit in two minds about these reactions because at the end of the day we dont know what occurred behind the scenes and we probably never will as much as we can speculate or whatever. not to mention that this 10th anniversary it seems maybe everyones on good terms which, who knows really im going to try be optimistic. i think whats important to note about heir reactions is that we dont know anything about their situations but the problem was really how fans reacted tbh (btw i forgot to mention earlier this is about basically everything except for harry and the nb thing. that is inexcusable). the boys reactions were understandable but the problem is that fans of course vicariously are influenced by the boy they stan so when one of them acted a certain way of course that ended up reflecting in fandom and resulted in more racism etc. 

another thing with zayn was that there were many files leaked with like promo or whatever basically describing what kind of role the boys would take on/ their image etc. and of course all the other boys got things like bubbly/funny/charming etc and zayns descriptors? moody, mysterious, dark horse etc etc like from the inception of 1d zayn has been victim to racist stereotypes being pushed on him. and i think this is where harry comes in because of course the image pushed onto him was also extremely harmful and i definitely dont think we should not talk about that but often you'll see that... thats all that is talked about because people are uncomfortable admitting racism and talking about it. 

When i mentioned other celebrities my point was basically just that while ive only talked about zayn in one direction this... is so present among any and every fandom. 5sos, Little Mix, Fifth Harmony... any fandom you can think of, i promise you it is there. racism in fandom is a real thing and a big problem and honestly this is why i always say representation is so important. and when i say that i mean everywhere!!! because if I didnt seek out non white fans to follow then maybe i would’ve had a completely different perspective on all of this.

The thing is also that a lot of this is just stuff that we’ve been able to get our hands on and also fan analysis and theories etc. there is probably so much more to talk bout or go into or stuff we’ll never even know about. I’ve kind of had to make peace with the fact that with celebrities you just really don’t actually know anything about them.
