This Week in BL - A New Entry My Top 10 BLs of All Time
March 2023 Wk 4
Tumblr media
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Bed Friend (Sat YT, GaGa & iQIYI uncut) ep 7 of 10 - the plot remains much the same and I am getting very concerned they extended this one as it’s starting to flag. Might have been my first high heat 10/10 candidate if they had kept it at 8 eps. Bummer. I mean it’s still good and I’m still enjoying it, but... character development is a thing.
Future (Thai Sun YouTube & Gaga) ep 2 of 5 - Drunken gathering is such a hallmark of this franchise. Tiny bit of James flirting! (He’s my fav character ever since Love Mechanics original and the punch). Fuse is right to be worried about getting drunk bc he wants to be able to take care of Ana. I love the actor who plays Top (the ex). I’ve said it before (Remember Me) I really want him to get his own series. Also adventures in translation, Top did not say “I can’t believe you’re dating this man”, he said “I can’t believe you’re dating this kid/child”. These two are the ULTIMATE over dramatic college gays. Their relationship has NO drama but they will make it anyway.
Pastsenger (Thai Weds Gaga) 4 of 12 eps - I like it more and more each new ep. The leads are developing a fun playful relationship. It’s a bit slapstick for me but it’s not offensive or boring.
A Boss and a Babe (Fri YouTube) ep 5 of 12 - I don’t know. I’m just finding this one kind of boring now. Although, it looks like we are getting cute boyfriends next week so that might be nice.
Tin Tam Jai (Tues Gaga & iQIYI) ep 6 of 12 - Side couple advanced into lap sitting and tongue kisses out of nowhere. Good tongue kissing, even if surprising. Higher heat! Yay! They’re a great pair, but would it kill Thailand to give us character development with our high heat?
Chains of Heart (Sat iQIYI) ep 7 of 10 - the confusing whateverness of waisted chemistry continues to confuse.
The Promise (Thai Weds YT) ep 5 of 10 - I don’t know what’s going on with this show. That’s it? He just fell in love with bestie and then punished bestie for his own feelings? Seriously? WTF. ON HIATUS UNTIL APRIL 19.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Our Dating Sim (Korea Thurs Viki) eps 7-8fin - Absolutely wonderful. There is a time laps but it’s the good kind - NO SEPARATION. Couple of moments when I doubted they could pull it off. But CONGRATZ! We have a new entry into the very rare 10/10 club. I have go change all my best of lists but this was worth it. Final thoughts below.
Unintentional Love Story (Korea Thurs iQIYI) 5-6 of 10 - (here’s how I’m getting it) KBL rarely gives quality sides dishes but these two are legend. Poor tattooed player hottie is always getting punched. Don’t get me wrong the leads are great too. It’s fun to watch two sets of bisexual identity crisis being handled entirely differently because of good characterization. I say “ouch” a lot while watching this show. Also “awwwww.” I do worry their cafe has no customers tho.
The Eighth Sense (Korea Weds Viki) eps 1-2 of 10 - With 10 episodes of about 40 minutes each this has got to be one of the longest BLs Korea has ever given us. However from tone, filming style, opening credits, and trailer I am guessing this could be sad. If its KBL doing JBL style then we are in His the series territory, but it could be more in the Blueming vein. I’d give it 50/50 odds. There’s always a chance it wants to be “taken seriously” which is the death knell of BL. Also if a lead smokes it means that one or both will cheat. (I don’t make the rules, the Japanese yaoi gods do.) OK, but do I like it? Yes, actually, it’s... interesting. It’s got a bit of an age gap, country boy/city boy, the acting is great, characters complex, good chemistry and tension. It’s a bit chewy and sticky and less perfect than most KBL (do I detect a touch of Taiwan?). This one is deploying BL tropes (messy eater, shoulder sleep, protective seme, there’s even some hyung-slinging) but it isn’t in the KBL bubble, there’s sharp edges, we may get a coming out sequence or even a bashing. It certainly will stay interesting. But proceed with caution.
A Shoulder to Cry On (Korea Tues Viki & Gaga) eps 5-7fin - What both these kids need is a little affection and a lot of therapy, not romance. The punishment for flirting in class thing was funny. They are such boyfriends by ep 5 - Sitting together, sharing a glass etc…Terrible awful grueling confession rejection. 2 year time gap. Much needed in this case. Then another 2 before the epilogue. Honestly, the most unlikely thing about this show (after the casting) was the prospect of an out gay Korean cop. No kisses for us. Narrative indicated that there should have been at least a fish kiss, but not happening with them in the same Kpop group. I’m starting to think I really just prefer KBLs where they use actors and not idols (Semantic Error excepted, of course). I’m assuming the next 2 eps are bts. Final thoughts below.

It’s Airing But ...
Love Syndrome (Thai Sat WeTV) stopped at ep 2 of 12 - I’m just not into any aspect of it (except Lee Long Shi and I can watch him in Tin Tem Jai - see above pic, awesome side dish action) - saving to binge if the end is solid.
Venus in the Sky (Sat YouTube) pilot/tester?) 0 of 10 - not entirely sure what’s up with this one distribution-wise, but the pilot was cute, classic university-set pulp. I hope it happens because the leads are cute with good chemsitry and I thought it was fun. However, it totally holds together as it’s own little short story too.
Cafe In Love (Thai ???) 10 eps on Ch3+ - Thai pulp, about trying to save a coffee shop. FairyGodBLer came through for me, but I’m collecting to binge just in case. It’s my new policy with the grey stuff.
Destiny Seeker (Tues WeTV Thailand) 10 eps - it’s not on any WeTV I can get ahold of. Bad Buddy the pulp rebirth meets Japanese handsome host club action. Same as above.
Make a Wish (Thai Weds ?) from WaGa Creative staring Fluke Natouch (OhmFluke UWMA etc...) & Judo (The Miracle Of Teddy Bear) in a medical-fantasy. It seems to be a light-hearted romance with a comedic flair. About a doctor who sees ghosts and a deity who resides in a Bodhi tree that earns merits whenever he fulfills a wish based on a y-novel by Sammon (Manner of Death, Triage). Too hard to find.

Finished this week
Our Dating Sim (Korea Viki) I enjoyed every aspect from the casting to the very simple premise to the quietly smooth execution. Sure it’s very low stakes, but that makes it high domesticity and extremely warm and gentle. This is a fuzzy blanket of a story. Do we call this cozy BL? Why not? This one is going to live in my rewatch pile, I can tell already, and you know what’s best about it? Every single episode is in that pile. There’s no skipping with this one, it might be good natured and calmly sweet but it’s tight and the pacing is excellent. It perfectly suited KBL’s short-length tendencies. Full review. 10/10 I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOW HIGHLY ENOUGH
A Shoulder to Cry On (Korea Viki & Gaga) - Adaptation of a manwha, high school set bully romance, staring Jaehan & Yechan BOTH from Kpop group OMEGA X, so no kissing. All in all this was a painfully awkward watch for me, and while beautiful and decently acted, the story and characters rendered it ultimately disappointing. I think we shouldn’t let Korea do bully romance. 4/10 FATALLY FLAWED
Jack O’Frost It was fine. I never really cared about the characters or their relationship. Not to slag off the acting (which was superb) but the narrative bored me. 5/10 WATCH ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO
Tumblr media
In Case You Missed it
Ai Long Nhai got a special ep on iQIYI.
Eternal Yesterday is getting a movie version with additional content if you want extra suffering.
A few things have been announced but mostly Thai, Japanese, and 2 (yes, 2) Chinese Omegaverse (Desire and Couple or Not). It’s doubtful these will pass censorship, so I’m not gonna bother tracking until they actually get international distribution. For Thailand, I’m excited about Waterboyy 3, which NOT a remake (hally-fucking-luya) but a new installment, and stars KaownahTurbo (Love Stage!!! et al). Although why the fuck they don’t put Est Supha (swim champ) into one of these is a mystery to me. For Japan, they’ll start airing sooner rather than later, so expect me to start tracking those.
Next Week Looks Like This:
04.06 Our Dining Table AKA Bokura no Shokutaku (Japan Gaga) - I AM SO EXCITED I LOVE THE MANGA
04.07 My Beautiful Man Eternal (Japan ????) - 3rd installment, movie which means it’ll be a pain to get hold of.
Tumblr media
No proper post for April but remaining releases are:
04.14 Naked Dinner AKA Zenra Meshi (Japan Gaga) - not really my thing but yes I’ll watch it
04.15 My Story (Pinoy YouTube) - not my fandom but I will give it a go
04.18 Step By Step (Thai WeTV) - office age gap, I am all in! Even though it’s WeTV. Sigh.
April is looking a bit slender so I might start watching Destiny Seeker or Cafe in Love, or both.
2023 forthcoming BL master post (see comments, some are inaccurate, NOT KEPT UPDATED)
Adventures in Captions
Tumblr media
Ai Long Nhai special both reviewing its own plot and having fun with English.
THIS WEEK’S BEST MOMENTS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The danger in dating an older boy. (Future)
Tumblr media
Love triangle in one photo! (Promise)
(last week)
Current Kpop earworm? Nada, the comebacks have been disappointing recently.

since last year I had thought about creating some slightly strange Verses about said character that because of who I am it is not necessary to mention his name 🤦‍♀️
1) Mortimer Mouse "Minniehusbandforever" (Minnie's fanboy)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
It's basically the idea of Mortimer being like Sky from FnF (although it could also be a mix of Miko since he is an internet addict like me JSJSJSJSJS k*ll m*)
His personality is completely different from the original (more silly and childish but also jealous)
A curious fact: he has a demon side (yes... too much cringe but WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM A TYPICAL FANBOY?)
2) NuMortimer (Mickey's fanboy)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Same as with the first one, a mix of the NuSky character
Actually this character was created by a friend of mine but after months I revived him @mijcky
Gay TransMasc (previously the original creator said that the character canonically is bisexual but I felt that he DIDN'T LIKE WOMEN)
Mickey>>>>>Minnie
Call me crazy but I think he identifies with this song (YES, I KNOW THE LYRICS ARE STRANGE BUT I DON'T CARE)
3) Yander! Mortimer (or nameless)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Previously, because of his name, he was going to be a kind of Yandere addicted to dressing up and being like his rival, but seeing that the story had nothing to do with the "Yandere" theme, his name would no longer make sense
It is also a reference to the character "Mr. Happy Mouse" but from the House of Mouse/Mickey Mouse Works
It has a definite story but I have to remind you that I am a very evil person who keeps stories private WHEHEHEHEHEHE (ask me and I'll tell you)
according to "Michelle's World", he has a girlfriend and her name is "Ver 1! Michelle" (the first version of Michelle)
Sadness Mortimer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have much to say about him...I'll just say that he and Mickey could easily be a representation of ENA

please regale us with thoughts on matts sexuality i am on my hands and knees
Thanks for doing the thing 💛 So this got long and I chopped most of it to shove it under the cut because of that...
So, Matt identifies as bisexual as I've said before but he's the youngest son in a pretty typical white middle-class British family which means he's grown up in a pretty overly masculine environment, not helped by the fact that rugby was his chosen sport as he was growing up and into university.
He knew he liked men in a different but equal way to the way he liked women from a pretty young age, perhaps 8 or 9, but also he understood that men weren't really where he was 'supposed' to find his attention resting. Because of his age, it also means that section 28 was only just being repealed as he started school and means that his and his brother's schooling wasn't exactly positive or even neutral on people who weren't in heterosexual relationships. So he learnt pretty young that he was 'meant' to be with a woman.
Because of the people he was around when he was younger, he internalised the idea that same-sex attraction is bad pretty quickly (gay as an insult was pretty pervasive in primary school when I was there), despite knowing that he isn't straight and that some guys who were also on the rugby teams he's played with haven't been either. His first boyfriend was a teammate he was very close to, but both of them kept it silent because they were scared of being outed etc.
As a result he kind of just thinks it's easier and 'right' to keep on the down-low and date women and not correct people when they assume he's straight. There's a lot of stigma around bisexual people and bisexual men in general and the idea that they are somehow more feminine than heterosexual men in combination with his upbringing means that he does have an unconscious bias against bisexuality in general, despite knowing and loving many bisexual people.
Despite knowing that it's not actually the case, the idea that queer men are feminine is very pervasive and the media rarely helped that; if you know the portrayal of the LGBTQIA+ community in the early 00s you'll know this well. Because of these stereotypes, people also assume that he is straight and he really does find it easier to not come up against that assumption, despite his otherwise brash nature. An important thing about Matt is that he's brash and loud when he's confident, but he doesn't feel as confident about his sexuality as he does filming or fun nature facts.
He also knows it'll always be easier to bring a woman home to his family despite his mother seemingly knowing about some of the boyfriends that he's had in the past. His father and brothers have rarely ever entertained the idea of him being anything other than straight as a possibility and as the youngest, he definitely didn't question the overt or thinly veiled homophobia he was hearing.
So basically, a melting pot of toxic masculinity and media portrayal of queer men made non-straight men to be something less than desirable in Matt's mind when he was too young to have critical thinking about it. So although he is working through it, he will likely always have a level of internalised biphobia and a desire to not be 'that kind of gay' which makes it easier to date women. He's never really going to feel like he's represented by a rainbow flag and pride parade no matter who his partner is.
Sorry, this was pretty rambly but I have a lot of thoughts as to why Matt is like he is.

I keep having thoughts that feel kind of judgmental, but where I’m not exactly trying to be and where I’m trying to make more sense of a particular topic.
I know that I came out late. I kind of hesitate to say “really late” bc wrt to my generation/background/location, I don’t necessarily categorize it like that. And when the entire process began around ~25 (the age I first started questioning if I was a lesbian rather than bisexual), I’m like. Meh about calling it super late or whatever.
And okay. I clearly know what it’s like to stay in a LTR with a man when you don’t actually want to but do it so other people (family, him, etc.) can be happy at the expense of your own happiness and desires. But somehow it’s still hard for me to understand how other people “like me” progress further than I did.
Like, when I got engaged, it was for a very short time because thinking about marrying a man (even one I was close to) was making me physically ill, filling me with this immense grief and everything. I could not actually go through with it once it progressed into a planning-type stage. The idea of going even further, getting married, having a child or children all seems incomprehensible to me. I don’t mean that to come across as vaguely misogynistic, although maybe I do still have some internalized misogyny, because a lot of it is like. I can’t imagine carrying a child in a marriage with a man. I would have brief moments where I could see a family in theory, but when it came to the reality of it, it was always like no. No no no no no. People talk about social dysphoria with gender, and it was almost like that but with sexuality. Like the idea of that was just. Wrong for me.
And I do have a hard time understanding the experiences of other people who came out later who did those things. I know gay men do this too, and idk why it’s so hard for me to wrap my head around. It’s like I can get staying in a LTR with someone you aren’t actually attracted to because people do that all the time anyway, or stay with people who aren’t necessarily good for them or whatever, but things like marriage, kids, etc. Those take so much preparation and so many steps. I don’t know if my thoughts on this are negative or maybe gatekeepy (which I DEFINITELY don’t have a right to be and am not trying to be that way lol), it’s just hard for me because a looooot of spaces for people who came out late include people who are divorced and have kids and I just can’t relate to them/wish I knew more people with my own experience.

GO Season 2 and fandom history ramblings
Spoilers for Good Omens season 2 to follow:
I've watched the second season of Good Omens twice by now, and several days later I am still thinking about it. I know many people are delighted, pained, moved, and excited by the storyline, but that's not the only thing that I keep coming back to. For me, it's the novel experience of seeing the subtext become text, after countless years of existing in fandom without any possibility of that occurring.
For context, I've been in fandom for about 15 years, which is certainly not as long as many other folks I know. There are friends in my circle who collected Kirk/Spock zines back in the old days of fandom, who watched Starsky and Hutch as it was airing and read in it the love that dared not speak its name. Personally, I was one of many people of my generation who entered slash fandom via Harry Potter and LiveJournal, and began writing in the Merlin fandom.
From the beginning of my time in fandom, it was exceedingly clear to me that slash pairings for these shows were never, ever going to be canon. Articles about the Merlin tv series touted the parallels between magic and gay identity as early as the first season, but the show included straight romances for just about every main character. I tend to characterize fandom from around this era in the following buckets:
Deny, create straight pairings.
Token queer rep.
Cultivate queer subtext
Queer story arcs
Good Omens season two, apparently a category of its own
***often one show can be in more than one bucket at once, or moves between them as discourse evolves.
(More below the cut)
Deny the subtext, create straight canon pairings to dispel slash undertones, express discomfort with the very idea of slash pairings, and sometimes downright mock the idea:
The paired actors from Stargate Atlantis, Supernatural, LOTR, and Sherlock did this, repeatedly denying, expressing discomfort, and sometimes even mocking slash at conventions and in interviews. So too Merlin, the Harry Potter films, etc. Hugh Dancy of Hannibal expressed this discomfort in a number of interviews, though notably Misha Collins and Mads Mikkelson, speaking about Supernatural and Hannibal respectively, were more open to the possibility of homoeroticism. All of these pairings were given heterosexual romance arcs.
In many examples, as the writers became aware of the subtext, the characters were actually separated to try to prevent any potential subtext from being read into their interactions. In Teen Wolf, Hannibal, Supernatural, Captain America, and the Witcher, character arcs separated pairings who previously spent a lot of screen-time together, physically distancing them to reduce any opportunity for subtext.
2. In the next category, there are the creators who write in minor gay characters in the hopes of appeasing fandom or shifting their focus from the main slash pairing. See JK Rowling making Dumbledore gay, Felicia Day's character in Supernatural, Jaskier in the Witcher, etc. This kind of redirection is often an attempt to say, see, we're not homophobic, but also we have no interest in alienating middle-America cable viewers by asserting that a traditionally masculine lead could in fact be queer. See Watson's queer sister in Sherlock, even while the writers denied any queer subtext between the leads.
A more contemporary subcategory of this category involves giving a character a backstory that hints at or includes queerness, but doesn't show it on screen or allow it for the character's present day arc. I think the Loki tv show is an example of this, as is Valkyrie in the Thor films, although I haven't seen Loki and I think there was a cut scene with Valkyrie that made her bisexuality canon for the film verse. WWDITS does this a little as well, though I think it's much more self aware and also, is an unfinished story arc. The main characters are revealed to be queer but the pairing is not thus far canonical, though both Nandor and Guillermo are shown having on-screen queer relationships with other (or in fact the same) people.
3. The next category, which I believe begins to push the boundaries of fandom, are those shows that purposefully wrote in or allowed subtext to flourish, likely for financial reasons. Again, there was no chance the writing teams were going to make a slash pairing canon, but they would certainly wink and nod at it to appease fandom. And, largely, this worked. Fans noticed it, we liked it, we worked it into fic. Did we also feel mocked and disrespected by it? Certainly. But those liminal spaces were where our identities were allowed to live, and so we took those seeds and turned them into the vibrant culture of fandom.
One particularly egregious example of this comes from the Teen Wolf television show, which produced a viral video featuring the members of the slash pairing. The video showed the actors cuddled close on a boat, and opened with one of the actors saying, "We're on a ship, pun intended." The ad was intended to garner votes for an award for the show, and purposefully capitalized upon slash fandom to that end. However, the show also simultaneously wrote out the possibility of these characters having a romantic arc.
Some subtler examples have surfaced often during unscripted Q&A sessions with actors, for example Hannibal's Mads Mikkelson reacting humorously during a panel discussion in which Hugh Dancy describes Hannibal and Will's love as platonic, indicating that he disagrees. See also Misha Collins saying, "Also, Cas is gay" in an instagram post, after a canonical declaration of unrequited love from Castiel to Dean in Supernatural (or requited if you believe the Spanish subtitles, though there's still plausible deniability for this to be platonic love).
Hannibal I think begins to push the boundaries here, and some fans will say that the Hannibal/Will slash pairing is canon. While there is a ton of space to read that in the show, especially in season three and in creator Brian Fuller's statements since the end of the show, the show utilizes ambiguity both for artistic effect and (in my opinion) to avoid ever making the subtext into text. See for example this much quoted line from the second last episode of season 3:
Will Graham : "Is Hannibal in love with me?" Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier : "Could he daily feel a stab of hunger for you and find nourishment at the very sight of you? Yes. But do you... ache for him?"
We quote this scene all the time and say, it's canon! Hannibal loves Will! I am personally a gigantic Hannibal fan and I love the room for subtext in this writing, but note that while it certainly SEEMS like Bedelia is saying Hannibal is in love with Will, she does not explicitly say that it is romantic love. Also, Will doesn't reply! We can read many emotions into his facial expression, but we don't have explicit canonical confirmation.
Similarly, the show's climactic ending is often touted as a romantic embrace, but I would say it is not undeniably, explicitly romantic. I feel it has strong romantic undertones, but the writers chose not to make the subtext into explicit text. It's important to mention that this show aired on cable, and as such was beholden to network censorship and the need to target cable audience for ratings. The next category of shows is different.
4. As television production has moved into the realm of streaming services, there has of course been a rise of well-received queer television and film, Orange is the New Black being one of the early examples. There is of course a financial market for this stuff, and it's easier to tailor content to sympathetic audiences. I do think this stuff is also just becoming vastly more visible in general (in politics, on tiktok, etc.) and as such we've seen more and more representation from TV shows. These shows were all, from their inception, intended as queer stories. This category includes Heartstopper (a show much beloved by me), Gentleman Jack, and notably OFMD. I think Our Flag Means Death stands out because it took pains to dispel many of the characteristic elements of fandom queerbaiting, which while evidently unintentional on the part of creator and writer David Jenkins, was almost certainly an intentional choice from the overwhelmingly queer writer's room for the show. But again, though many fans were surprised to see the pairing made canon, it was intended from the original arc of the show. I think the remake of Interview with the Vampire also falls into this category of more fandom-aware, intentional queer stories.
5. And then there's Good Omens. In season one, I think the show fit into categories 2 and 3, containing queer and nonbinary representation and allowing a lot of space for subtext. Michael Sheen stated in interviews that he was playing Aziraphale as a person who was trying not to show someone that he loved them, but never explicitly stated this to be a romantic love. I know fandom read it that way, including myself, but technically it was never explicitly stated as romantic love. It seemed reasonably clear in the landscape of season one, and the other shows that were being made at the same time, that slash pairings do not become canon. Much was made of a line from the Good Omens book, reiterated by Neil Gaiman on tumblr that angels are agender. Several of the characters are in show canon only referred to by gender neutral pronouns, though not Aziraphale or Crowley. Much more still was made of Gaiman's references to conversations in which he and Terry Pratchett joked? discussed? the pairing living in a cottage in the South Downs together after the events of the book. There was a great deal of room left by Sheen and Gaiman's comments, and by the subtext of the show, in which to imagine a queer romance.
As I prepared to watch season two, I remarked to a friend that I was curious to see what, if any, impact fandoms like Hannibal and OFMD might have had on the series. Hannibal fandom seems to have largely convinced Brian Fuller of the viability of a queer romance, though he has been cagey about if it would happen in a hypothetical season 4 of Hannibal (I've seen several interviews in which Fuller states that it might not happen in season 4 because "Hannibal would want Will to be able to consent, and he would not be able to in the planned storyline for season 4").
OFMD's success seems to have paved the way for story-lines containing queer representation and romance that are not in fact centered around the experience of being queer. OFMD, in addition to showcasing many different kinds of queer relationships, worked hard to write a story that was not a Heartstopper style coming out story. So too, Hannibal and Good Omens season one are compelling as stories that happen to contain possible queer pairings, not as stories framed around the experience of being queer.
Additionally, through each of his recent television series but most notably with Sandman, Neil Gaiman made an explicit statement about including substantial queer representation in his work. He did not seem to be overly burdened with the requirements from the Terry Pratchett estate, or with any personal fear of writing queer narratives. If ever there was a moment to make a slash pairing canon, it seemed to be now.
As I watched season two, I felt much as I had watching OFMD - filled with a sense of disbelief that after countless fandoms in which there was no eventual queer arc, the subtext seemed suspiciously close to becoming text. I kept reminding myself not to get my hopes up, because that has basically never paid off in the past! I assumed the show would hint heavily but leave some room for ambiguity.
But it didn't! And not only did it deliberately and explicitly state that the arc was a romantic one, it also referenced and validated subtext from season one, which I suspect was before anyone had a serious intention of making this pairing explicitly canonical. I cannot think of any other example of a fandom that began a story without an intended queer romantic arc for its main characters, and ended up writing one in. If there are any other shows out there I would love to know, but for now Good Omens stands alone as the first fandom I know of in history to do this. What a time to be alive, and part of fandom! I can't wait to see what happens next!

I always saw Obi-Wan as an asexual kind of guy. Maybe that's because I'm old enough to remember when we only had the OT and he was already old. And dead for most of it. Anyway, part of why I love Star Wars is the emphasis on friendships and how strong and rewarding they can be without romantic feelings (although Han/Leia was my first ship). May we all have such people in our lives. All interpretations are valid of course and people love what they love, just wanted to share another point of view!
I mean, that's basically how I also envision him: my "Obi-Wan Kenobi as queer text" meta described my personal headcanon of him as biromantic asexual, and that's what the other post seemed to be hinting at in: re whatever they put in the book. After all, remember kids, ignore the exclusionists: asexuality is a full and complete queer identity on its own, and doesn't need other modifiers or qualifiers to be considered legitimate. So yeah. But as I said, he has radiated such intense bisexual sass disaster energy for the longest time, and I am frankly shocked that the Disney overlords allowed even a single sentence in a YA book that might hint at confirming this. To be honest, I don't care one way or another what the Mouse says about anything, particularly SW canon, since I reject what they have done with most of it. But hey. It's nice to have anyway.
As I also mentioned in the tags, Obi-Wan is a particularly formative character for me as a queer adult, since some of my first-ever forays into fandom, fic, and slash came as a result of reading TPM-era fics with him back in the dark days, with badly designed Web pages and SLASH!! content warnings. I imprinted on him as queer long before I knew what that was either for him or for me, and so I have a certain nostalgic perspective on it. (Also, nobody could read the Revenge of the Sith novelization in 2005, come out totally emotionally destroyed, and go, "yeah, Obi-Wan is totally straight." Even if I didn't, again, actually consciously realize this at the time.)
Likewise, Obi-Wan's appearance in the original trilogy has always fit the "celibate or asexual wise-old-mentor" stereotype, who exists mostly to guide the hero but doesn't have particular passions or motivations of his own. Then they cast Ewan McGregor as the younger version of him, and Ewan McGregor is likewise very attractive. But then in prequel-verse, all of Obi-Wan's most formative and important emotional relationships were with men (Qui-Gon, Bail Organa, etc) and then, of course, Anakin and the "it's a love story" Obi-Wan Kenobi series. So the more canon we got past just Alec Guinness, the more intensely Obi-Wan read as queer to me. The man cannot even sit straight (see his pose in the Council seat in ROTS), drops his cloaks with utter drama, sasses people, and is the utter opposite of toxic masculinity. He just has Big Queer Energy, in other words, and I felt it for a long time before I was able to properly name it in either him or myself.
Indeed, Obi-Wan would read pretty clearly as gay to me, except for the fact that they apparently added in some pseudo-girlfriend in the Clone Wars animated series and other assorted female interests in the expanded-universe books. Which, quite frankly, can't help but sound like "welp, this famous and beloved character is TOO queer-coded, better add in some comphet to tone that down." However, aside from my personal attachment to queer Obi-Wan, there's another aspect to it which I think is touching and important, and that is the fact that Luke is also often headcanoned as queer/gay/bi of some description (which Mark Hamill has enthusiastically supported). Considering that the original trilogy came out in the late '70s and early '80s, just as we were losing what should have been our entire generation of gay/queer ancestors to AIDS, I would find it very lovely if Luke, a queer man, was being mentored by Obi-Wan, his queer elder, in a way that we were so often denied the chance to have in reality. So yes. There are a lot of layers to it, in my view, and as I said, I don't care whether they bother to put one sentence in an EU book or not. The heart knows what it knows. Ahem. ;)

I recently found out that FakirxAhiru is supposedly not "canon" because they didn't end with a confession of love or a kiss, and many consider their relationship just friendship or even brother and sister, which surprised me a lot… Since to me it was so OBVIOUSLY canon, every action and interaction between them was sweet and romantic <3, that just because it's not "specified" isn't considered "canon" anymore, it looks silly. I mean, do fans really think that Ahiru admitting that she wasn't in love with Mitho while she kept having moments with Fakir was it a fluke by the creators? And the "I'll always be with you no matter what happens"?? THAT'S A MARRIAGE PROPOSAL NO WAY YOU SEE IT
(Sorry if I sound aggressive, it's just that they frustrate me)
((And yes, I am aware that romance between human and duck is bestiality, I simply imagine their relationship as a asexual relationship, simply enjoying what they have as human and duck…))
(((WHICH IS VERY LITTLE, for which I am so grateful to Zwei<3<3<3<3)))
I mean, I'm super in favor of giving importance to platonic relationships of just friendship, but I didn't get that impression with Fakir and Ahiru<3 (And least siblings lol). I also saw a video of a girl who ship Rue with Ahiru, which is not bad, but ironically I did see those two only as friends (Or just rivals from the few interactions they had in the anime), as LGBT person I love LGBT relationships, but I like that they make more sense and that they don't just ship characters because they look cute together (But yes, my headcanon is that Ahiru is bisexual XD (And maybe Fakir too, all those scenes between him and Mitho they are very queerbaiting LOL))
Ironically, I like Mitho, but it is true that it is very poorly written or could have been developed better, over the years I have seen a huge number of "unemotional" characters that manage to show individual characteristics or make you understand why others characters would give so much for them, but Mitho is simple and purely flat lol, although I have grown fond of how easily he gets into fights when everything is avoided if he listened to Fakir to stay in his room LMAO
P.S: By the way, if you want to make the conversation public, I don't mind
Technically fakiru is not canon as their love is not confirmed. But it's heavily implied so you could call it semi-canon. If the supposed 3rd season happened, I'm positive they would had ended up together. People see things differently. I think Ahiru and Mytho have sibling-vibes more than romance-vibes.
Most ships are fan made and not canon. Fans want something to happen, so they see ”evidence” of that in everywhere (even when it's not there).
I don't concider Fakir's words as a marriage proposal. Like neko-sensei, he could had just said will you marry me if he wanted to propose. Given their age and friend zone status, it sounds out of place too. I see it more as a promise to not leave Ahirur alone even if she's a duck: she doesn't need to stay as a human for him to care for her. Ahiru is afraid of abandoment because ”she's just a duck” no one would pay attention to.
In anime, bestiality is highly controversial. We see all kinds of romantic matches in media, including vampires, werevolves, demons, youkai, mazoku, devils, angels, zombies, spirits, deities, dead people, witches, wizards, people who turn into animals or other forms, monsters, aliens and so on. That's just the way it is. If someone wants to complain about the ”unrealistics” don't pay attention to them. There's no point in arguing with someone whose mind is set to reasoning fiction with the laws of nature.
I'm not into LGBT stuff and sometimes I'm confused why people go back to old series and start giving sexual orientations to the characters. I don't see sexuality as a topic you need to bring up so much. Everyone can love each other, but most of the time gay ships are just fantasies made up by the fans and queerbaites are exactly that; baites to lure you think there's something when there really isn't. It's part of the fanservice, and if people find joy in it then why not.
Mytho can be sweet or annoying. He's the gary-stu and everything is resolved around him. But he's so plain and neutral you can't really hate him. When anyone of the cast starts to take distance to Mytho they actually become more interesting and individual. As the fullfledges prince he's much more interesting.

I just watched unintentional love story ep 2:
Our sculptor is absolutely gay, I suspect heartbreak or rejection or cruel father or Something in his past and that's why he went into hiding. That's Definitely part of why he doesn't date or want to be flirted with
Cafe owner is gay too and that may be one of a few reasons him and sculptor talk
I'm sorry main guy. I love you. You look like Chimon and Yu Liang from Hikaru No Go, you act like Shi Guang, you're very cute. But my dude... when you go "I hope you don't have a girlfriend, I'm a guy but I'm still swooning for you right now~" bitch that is some Zhao Yunlan bisexual flirting maybe be self aware??? I get it, your job is on the rocks and you're hyper stressed, I wouldn't think clearly either. Also I knew I was bi since my teens so I get it's gotta be hard for you not even knowing yet but. My dude. That is PLAYBOOK obvious bisexual flirting. That is the Manual. That's Jack Harkness Zhao Yunlan shit. Oh my god LISTEN TO YOURSELF. Sculptor in that fucking car, just mentally: HE REALLY FUCKING SAID THAT! HE SAID THATTTTT. THEN THE DUDE NO HOMOS ME WITH "HAHA BUT IM A GUY?" IM GONNA EXPLODE WHAT THE FUCK. (It's okay sculptor.. look, he may be losing his job, he is just REALLY not thinking clearly, I know what he just did was SO fucking much)
Main guy is like if Yu Liang and Shi Guang from Hikaru No Go had a child. Both in looks and temperment. He's insistent, intense, brave (and a bit zoned out as he's too focused on WHATEVER mission he's set his mind to). Super cute. I deeply desire his optimism and fighting spirit as I do NOT have his amount personally lol. But on the flipside, he's naive and easily manipulated by those in power so like.. thats gonna crash in his face eventually.
Secretly I love that sculptor is rich. I keep thinking about this analysis I read, about how in romantic media the trope of "horrificly violent scary mob boss falls for the girl" is possibly desired, in part, because it's like this fantasy idea. Of the threats in the world NOT hurting you, of having a "tiger on a leash." Instead of these worldly dangers hurting you, they do anything to protect you, you are For Once not in danger and are in fact in control of threats. I think there was some merit to that idea of it appealing, and I think the romance trope of "rich lover falls for protagonist" also kind of taps into that. We have our lead guy in this, losing his job and at the mercy of a corporation who sees him as disposable and a scapegoat and doesn't care if they ruin his life. And he (is presumably going to) fall for a sculptor from a rich family, with fame and talent he can even afford to hide from the world as a recluse, who's got a car and a shop and friends who own businesses (coffee shop owner). And its like the sculptor love interest in a way is like that "rich power" ideal but HIS (eventually). His lover, within his "control" and someone who wouldn't hurt him, in comparison to the job that uses him up and manipulates him and throws him away. I think while its Not central to the plot, that kind of trope in romance may be appealing for similar reasons to the mob boss love interest, the war lord love interest, etc. (And we see it on the rise lately, although it's Always been a big one lol: GAP the series gl, Step by Step brand new show, A Boss and a Babe, Never Let Me Go an action romance take on it). I just... that analysis I Still think about, it made some interesting points...
I love rhe tension each episode ends on
I love the guy with tattoos?
Main guy radiates Such disaster bi energy AND naturally flirts with all the men around him baby boy dude PLEASE get a moment of calm and look in a mirror. All the queer men around you are absolutely fucking Baffled
I am so invested in tattoo guy and coffee shop guy GIVE ME SCENES WITH THEMMMMM
I like when art is treated idk as like... accessible? For all this guy is a famous sculptor, he teaches classes anyone can take, he values the things main guy makes just for the sake of the creating it. It reminds me of the scene in Not Me with Dan and Yok, and Yok admiring Dan's art even though Dan is NOT an art student and couldn't afford to pursue a degree in art as it wasn't "practical" as so many of us have been through. And how Yok said all art is valuable, the different perspectives of each individual artist is valuable. And I really agree with that. I think art and it's diversity and it being made by all the kinds of people who do it is SO Valuable. So I like that in this show, although a smaller focus so far, there's a distinct lack of gatekeeping what's art and what's valuable. Yes, famous sculptors art is of course a more refined long practiced craft. But he values all his students works and wants to fire them in a special way, he gives them all advice and cares and appreciates what they make. They do not have to be Trained For Years to make things he finds valuable. And I personally appreciate that.
I just am really liking the vibe of this show
It's gonna be FUN ANGST FALLOUT when our manipulating part timer protagonist gets found out for the spying thing lol

UTMV Sexuality Headcanons
So it’s Pride Month and I’d figured I’d share my headcanons for everyone's’ sexuality. I figured it’d be fun and who knows maybe I’ll do more headcanon posts in the future.
Nightmare - Demiromantic pansexual. I just feel it fits him, he doesn’t really care about gender and love and romantic attraction isn’t really his thing. He thought he was aromantic until he grew close to Killer then was like “shit guess I’m demi.”
Dream - Demiromantic asexual. This is canon and I like it. I do headcanon him to be demi-panromantic and that might actually be canon because I swore I saw that somewhere but now can’t find it. I also headcanon him to be sex favourable, he enjoys it and does seek it out sometimes but he doesn’t experience sexual attraction.
Ink - Aroace. Again this is canon and I like it. I headcanon him to be sex neutral, he really doesn’t care but will do things out of curiosity. He’s in a weird kind of queer-platonic relationship with Error. They do love each other but everything about their relationship is weird since they are just weird people for many other reasons. (I also love that Ink is aroace because I am too and Ink’s one of my favs, although I’d say I was sex averse.)
Error - If asked for his sexuality he’d say he’s probably demiromantic and demisexual. He’s not really one for labels though and doesn’t really care. He’s not experienced any romantic or sexual attraction to anyone other than Ink and he has no interest in anyone else. Haphephobia doesn’t make exploring his sexuality any easier for Error since the thought of touching anyone (other than Ink under the right circumstances) makes him glitch out.
Geno - If asked he’d jokingly say he’s morosexual before saying seriously that he’s very bi with a slight preference for men. He’s very open about it and will fight anyone who is homophobic and/or transphobic.
Reaper - He’s not too sure about his sexuality and he feels he has bigger problems to deal with than figuring it out. He likes Geno and that’s all that matters to him. Although he does think about it from time to time and figures he’s some kind of multisexual. He’ll just tell some people he’s bi and others he’s pan making it very confusing for them if they hear him saying both. He gets a kick out of this because he doesn’t understand why they want to know so badly since it doesn’t matter and he doesn't owe anyone an explanation.
Blue - Panromantic asexual. Not really much to add to this one other than like Dream he’s sex favourable. I also see Blue as a very vocal activist for equal rights for all.
Cross - Bisexual. Again not much to add other than this is canon and I like it.
Ccino - Gay. He’s very much into men. Too bad his first “boyfriend” was just a really bad choice… He also falls in love very easily.
Colour - Bisexual. He doesn’t really have much of a preference but he feels he fits bi more than pan. It’s also just easier to explain that way since people tend to have more questions about pan than bi.
Killer - Bisexual. He loves using his sexuality as an excuse every time Nightmare tells him to sit properly in his chair.  “Killer, don’t sit like that, you'll break the chair and end up with a sore back!” “I can’t; I’m bisexual!” “What you are is an idiot.” He also loves shooting up the peace sign in pictures and proudly announces he’s a peace sign bi. Basically he just loves rolling with the memes.
Dust - Demi-panromantic and demi-pansexual. He really needs to get close to someone before anything can happen. It took him a while to work out since getting close to people is very hard for him, with the ghostly Papyrus and the murderous tendencies.
Horror - He really doesn’t know and doesn’t really care. Like Error he’s not really one for labels. Horror says he’s simply just him. He will use queer if asked and doesn’t want to go into a long speech about it.

ROTTMNT Pride headcanons then 🫵🏻🫵🏻🫵🏻
Yippee the easy one!!!
I'll do the turtles, the main 3 humans, and Splinter for this but if there are any additional headcanons you want you can ask for them too!
Mikey Mikey is one of those characters who I have kind of a mass of headcanons for I'll accept almost anything for Mikey's gender but for most fics and aus I have him as genderfluid (although I do have a few where I projected too hard and he became pangender like Magic and Masks). Usually I headcanon Mikey as aroace also as a projection thing since I am aroace-spec and heavily kin Mikey! Usually I'll either cycle through pronouns or use he/she for him.
Donnie Donnie is almost always bisexual and genderqueer when it comes to my fics because those are my main two headcanons for him. Although him being gay or aroace do not bug me! Rise Donnie always has he/they pronouns when I write him.
Raph It's probably very clear from every time I post about Rise Raph but I headcanon her as transfeminine (specifically a transgirl, but I think bigender Raph as a concept is cool. Just not my personal headcanon). I also headcanon her as lesbian and you'll see this a lot with the non-men characters because I project onto them. I use she/her exclusively on Raph.
Leo I am not free from headcanoning Leo as gay because-- Look at him. But I also headcanon him as transmasc! usually as a transguy but I also see him using xenogenders. Mostly space-themed ones because I gave him my space special interest.
April I really just don't see her liking men, so I've always headcanoned her as lesbian. I haven't really thought about gender identity for her, though. Personally I see her using she/they pronouns.
Casey (sr) I love Casey sm I think about her too much for someone who barely has her relevant in any of the aus he's currently writing. I see her as someone who doesn't really care about her gender identity or the pronouns that people use simply because she didn't think of it that much in the Foot and why should she have to think about it now? I am jumping on the train that she is a raging Lesbian though because, once again, I am projecting.
Sunita SUNITA!! Literally love Sunita. Always trying to figure out a specific gender identity to give her because I think she's Not Cis but I haven't decided on one. However, like Leo, I think she'd use xenogenders! I feel like it would take her a while to figure out her identity romance-wise, but I think she'd settle on using omnisexual. I've always used she/her for Sunita.
Splinter Personally I see him as cis but I think trans headcanons for him are cool. You can't tell me this man isn't bisexual though.
Sorry this took so long but thanks for letting me ramble!
I wrote this instead of writing my next fic chapter so I really need to get on that.

This is probably a very controversial take (considering the event that happened in the past 5 years) but I think Jonghyun might be somewhat queer, most notably bisexual. You may think that I’m literally being disrespectful to him, but hear me out-
I feel like he might be a queer man having to hide his sexuality to the world, just because of the consequences that may occur to him if he came out. However, because he really wanted to be an icon and help future K-pop idols to express their sexuality without needing to come out completely, that was the reason why he did the internet war choreography on stage which paved the way for groups such as OnlyOneOf or Astro who does choreographies that are similar to it. Because of that, Jonghyun was able to fully embrace this very moment as not only he has normalised this kind of dancing for idols to come, but it has also allowed him to feel himself at the stage whilst doing something he really wanted to do. That wasn’t the only thing he did since he has also been a very big advocate for the LGBTQ+ community which says a lot about his character. He may not had came out and unfortunately never will, but it shows that he was willing to stay closeted whilst being an icon for many K-pop fans to remember him by.
Even if he isn’t actually queer, I’m still happy that he was able to give me this sort of feeling. A lot of guys I would have a crush on tend to be straight most of the time. However, Jonghyun is different. He definitely feels like he may like men, but he just decided to empathise on the fact that he likes women. After all, it is natural for him since he also likes girls too.
So let’s say this. Jonghyun is possibly a closeted bisexual who was willing to become an icon for many generations to come just so idols don’t have to worry about being limited to do certain things to express themselves in their own unique ways. And now, they will be our idols too all thanks to Jonghyun.
Although I don’t really like speculating sexualities on other people (unless it’s people I am very close with), this is the first time I would actually agree on you with this. I’ve always felt like he could be gay, but never really acted on it due to judgements from the public. This also makes sense due to the fact that he tends to care about people before taking care of himself, that’s would be a trait that he may have and would continue to have until his last days.
I do wish he did come out, even just a week before. Of course, we may never know but I’m glad you was still able to get this sort of closure from thinking about his sexuality and who he may like. Maybe somewhat in the near future someone could come forward and tell us if he ever questioned his sexuality. I’d be interested to know since a man like him is very poetic with his words.

Thoughts on the "I'm not gay, I only like you" trope?
Gay For You Concerns
There are a ton of issues with (and damage done to the queer community by) the Gay for You trope, oft discussed within and by the romance genre (AKA If It’s You, It’s Okay in film and pop culture circles). So I do not consider these characters (as depicted in fiction) queer. (IRL: You do you, babies. Or… you do whomever you want to do, babies, and call it whatever you like.)
This isn’t a lit-crit or queer activist blog so I’m not going to go into depth here. But you can read stuff about G4U from…
a romance author perspective here
a queer perspective here
from the fanfic/TV-trope side here
Since I personally identify as bi (or pan, or just queer most of the time) I find this trope particularly offensive as one of its major repercussions is bisexual erasure.
Tumblr media
In the English speaking countries and industries with which I have experience (film & publishing) it is considered very passé not to say old fashioned and, frankly, somewhat clumsy and stupid to use the G4U trope.
It shows that the author has no understanding of how sexual identity works in its modern iteration. (No shade with that codicil, this is culture, and culture is ever changing. So while your sexual identity may remind fixed - although it doesn’t HAVE to! - the way the culture around you see and talks about and represents that identity will change over time. Pop culture is called pop “culture” for a reason.)
And if you are writing any kind of romance, it’s your business to understand this. (And yes, I include fanfic authors in here *nash*. You too are custodians of culture, don’t be clumsy about it, it’s embarrassing.)
Tumblr media
I am willing to overlook G4U in earlier BLs or from countries who are patently less aware and less concerned with global queer advancements and shifting perspectives (cough cough China, and to a certain extent Hallyu Korea - they dodging it via the bubble) but BL out of Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand should know better in 2022.
It’s one of the delights of my life that Thai BL in particular has advanced beyond G4U in the past half a decade (since SOTUS). Mostly they do this by not directly addressing the characters sexual identity at all (usually the seme is the one in question) but ... I’ll take it! And there are noted recent exceptions like Bad Buddy and Secret Crush On You, where identity is openly discussed. Thank... fuck.
As it were.
Tumblr media
Of course they then tumble head first into the “bisexual = slut” trope, but that’s the general evolution of queer rep in a genre so *shrug*. Plus as a noted seme bisexual slut that actually is my rep, nice to see myself on screen on occasion. *waves at MAME*

Don't know if you got any insight on that, thought I would ask, I usually value your opinion of things.
I'm a headmate in a DID system. The body is afab, but I identify as a gay cis man. We're currently in a couple with a bisexual man, that I love and that loves me back, as a part. (he's also in a relationship with several other alters)
I grew up in a "you can be gay but don't shove it in people's face" kind of environment and although I wouldn't ever say that to my proud fellow queers, internally, I still struggle *a lot* with that.
I would want to kiss our significant other but even if I do that, privately, in a locked room, I still am under the impression that I'm "shoving it in my significant other's face" and it fills me with guilt and the impression I'm doing something morally wrong, because even showing it to him is too much ?
I hate my internalized homophobia, I want to get rid of it, I'll take any advice anyone can give
I'm sorry if I look insensitive to other fellows, I promise I don't judge you so harshly, be proud until the end of june, and then stay proud until the end of the world.
Mood relatable TOTALLY felt. Just wanted to say we've been there and considering our system was generally and unironically a pick me right wing queer in the past, totally get you
- Riku
That said, my best advice? Literally just say what you sent us to your boyfriend. If that is too hard to do, literally just hand him the phone and ask him to read this post. He could probably have a much more insightful and helpful conversation about this with you than anyone else - especially if hes a bisexual man himself.
That said if hes a dick about it for some reason fuck that bitch /hj /lh /not genuinely mad just wanting to let you know you have as much support from us as an anon and blogger can #AntiParasocialDisclaimer

Brianna's OC Tag Interview (Brianna is River and Haruo’s daughter from the original Legacy)
Tumblr media
1. What is your name?
I'm Brianna Chikamori
2. Do you know why you were named that?
My parents named me. I did a little name etymology and well, since my heritage is partly Irish and Japanese. My father is Japanese-Canadian and my mother is Irish-Canadian. My name evidently means strong.
3. Single or taken?
I'm currently single, and until I get my university degree, I'm not looking.
4. Stop being a Mary Sue!
I have no idea what you're going on about.
5. What’s your eye color?
I was lucky enough to get my Mom's eye color; not that I have anything against my dad's eyecolor, but well, green eyes are considered unusual.
6. How about hair color?
Red, what can I say? Genetics. Go figure.
7. Have you got any family members?
Heaps and heaps. Aunt Cait just had two kids so I have cousins, And I have 2 brothers and a younger sister.
8. Oh, how about pets?
No, but I've been bugging Daddy for a dog. He wants a cat.
Tumblr media
9. That’s cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don’t like
Something? More like someone. That creep next door, Eli Shelley, he's such a dweeb. He calls me up and tells me, "You me...Item?" as If I were his possession. Just becausee we're naighbours doesn't mean I belong to him. UGH!!! He's bought a ticket to Creepsville, because he really gives me the creeps. (phone rings) NO ELI, for the LAST TIME...for the love of God...I'M NOT GOING OUT WITH YOU!!!
10. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
Play pool, Paint, Write.
11. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before? Physically
No, but Eli Shelley is moving up on that list of people I'd like to maim, very quickly (cracks knuckles), Skip Jones is still above him though. I'm still giggling about the time that Grandma Susan punched his lights out.
12. Ever… killed anyone before?
No! What kind of a sim do you think I am? I respect sim-life.
13. What kind of animal are you?
My dad calls me "Mouse'. So embarrassing...
14. Name your worst weaknesses
I want do do everything right and end up spending too much time trying to get things done perfectly. I guess I need to loosen up a little. And well, I have a major addiction to sweets.
15. Do you look up to anyone at all?
My Mom...she grew up with only her mother but she's knitted together a family that has the cohesion of superglue. And I'm glad for that. I want a family just like hers. And I love that my Dad was strong enough that he was able to help Mom be the glue that keeps the entire family together.
16. Are you straight, gay or bisexual?
I lean towards men, if that's what you're talking about.
Tumblr media
17. Do you go to school?
I just graduated high-school, my friends thought that I was a keener.and a nerd, but well, the jocks liked me too.
18. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
Well, one of these days, provided I meet the right guy although we have two male boarders now and well, that Shig Kanzaki looks pretty nice.
19. Do you have fangirls/fanboys?
I'm only 18, y'know.
20. What are you most afraid of?
Not being able to fulfill my life's ambition fo get to the highest level in the education field, I was just hired on in the field, on recognizance that I'm going to university to get my Bachelor's in Education so I'm hoping to move up really quickly.
21. What do you usually wear?
Tumblr media
Oh, anything goes...provided that it's not too revealing (glares at the Watcher, "For heaven's sakes...I'm just a teen, you lech!")
22. What’s one food that tempts you?
I have this unusual hankering for pumpkin pie and if it's in the fridge...
well, I've usually eaten most of it by the next day.
Tumblr media
23. Am I annoying you?
Look, I have two brothers that i grew up with. I don't annoy easy.
24. Well, it’s not over!
Still not annoyed. Try harder.
25. What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)?
I think classes are an out-dated socio-economic construct.
26. How many friends do you have?
My family...that's all...I was such a "get home, do homework quickly so I can paint" kind of homebody, so all I needed was the closeness of my family.
27. What are your thoughts on pie?
Hey, if you have any pumpkin pie, I'm game.
Tumblr media
28. Favorite drink?
Shhhhh...don't tell my dad I drink. He'll go ballistic. He'll think I'm a lush.
29. What’s your favorite place?
The park...I like nature so I like to spend a lot of time at the park.
30. Are you interested in anyone?
Like I said, Shig Kanzaki is rather muscular and handsome, but don't tell anyone that...or my dad will use his size 12 Dakota Steel-Toes and punt him out the door. My dad can get real mean if anyone tries to hit on Alanna and me. I think it's called "putting the fear of God into any potential suitors" and in my dad's opinion, he's God. The Watcher might have a different opinion.(laughs)
31. That was a stupid question.
32. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
Oh lake definitely, I don't like jellyfish, I'd swim in our lake at home, but I think someone put crocodiles and sharks in the lake. Thanks to whoever that was /sarcastically/
(Alanna off-camera: "I happen to have also caught a jellyfish at one point")
Oh freakin' great!? Is there anything not potentially deadly in that lake.
(Alanna: "Not that I know of Maybe the death-fish, unless you eat it).
33. What’s your type?
I'm not saying because my dad will kill him.
Tumblr media
34. Any fetishes?
Shhhhh... do you want to get me yelled at?
Tumblr media
35. Camping or indoors?
I like camping...it't nice to get outdoors. Though of course during the winter, it gets to -40 with windchill, so I'd have to decline camping in winter.

I ship you with Peter Parker! (The Amazing Spiderman universe). I particluarly match you with this Peter Parker because he is more mature - as in he sees things for what they are; he’s not naive.
𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑛𝑠
・His love language is presents and quality time. Peter really likes being around you, and whenever you smile at him, little butterflies erupt in his stomach.
・You guys definitely have dance parties together, like random ones too. You’ll even be getting groceries and he’ll give you ‘the look’ and you’ll start groovin’ for like 60 seconds
・You know he’s Spiderman; you figured it out. He’s not that good at lying though.
・Peter loves your compassion - he absolutely adores how kind you are. I can see this being how you meet; you help his Aunt carry groceries to her car or house. And that’s when Peter arrives home, all flustered.     “Thank you, ugh-” Peter said, holding out his hand.  “Y/N” You took it and shook, a kind smile appearing at your lips.       “Thank you Y/N. Aunt May I was gonna get help with the groceries tomorrow-”
“I know Peter but I thought I should get up and do it myself,” she smiled at him.
・Would definitely take you to your favourite stores and wait however long until you were done. Very good boyfriend. 10/10

Your smile - he loves when you find him funny. It literally gives him such an ego boost. Also he thinks your smile is th emost beautiful thing he has ever seen in his goddam life.

Wanda Maximoff - okay so I know this doesn’t make sense as they both are in different universes BUT THAT DOESN’T MATTER OKAY. It’s magic / I am literally that powerful that my writing transcends plot holes right now, okay?? 😘 She is so loving and open-minded. She listens to you, you make cute little presents for her!

I ship you with Robin Buckley! She’s very energetic and has a lot of ... omph - so you wouldn’t feel like you were talking too much or being annoying, because she understands those same feelings. You would understand each other on a deeper level, and I think that’s what all good relationships need!
𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑛𝑠
・Lets you put plaits in her hair while you hang out in her bedroom. She’ll walk into the bathroom like, “wow y/n that’s really ... awesome.” And you’ll burst out laughing because her hair is just sticking out randomly
・You guys do movie marathons and most of the time Steve is there as well. But that doesn’t bother you because he is literally one of the girls. By the way Steve accepts you wholeheartedly, although he was a bit jealous at first
・Relationship tropes: ‘chaotic duo,’ ‘smart but dumb/dumb but smart,’ ‘go to sleep/no.’ (If these don’t make sense to you then totally look them up because tropes are my favourite thing!!!!!!)
・You guys have matching bracelets (yes they’re technically friendship bracelets but it was Robin’s idea and you didn’t even realise until Steve pointed it out.)
“Tonnes of girls wear those? And they aren’t gay?”
“Well these are ... gay bracelets...” Robin retorted. You snorted.
𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢
The way you make Robin feel - she’s kept her sexuality a secret for so long that having her love reciprocated felt impossible. But receiving the same passionate love that she gives you ... man, she’s happy-cried a lot.
𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑
Eddie Munson! I think the two of you would get up to all sorts of chaos and mischief. He’s lively, and usually eggs you on to do stupid stuff. I can see you being a part of Hellfire, loving DnD and being a part of the Hawkin’s gang!

I ship you with Elizabeth Swann! I think she would definitely be able to calm you down when you get worked up or give you some great advice whenever you need/want it. She’s graceful, intuitive and empathetic. I think those qualities would suit your personality greatly.
𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑛𝑠
・She likes it when you fall asleep on her - it makes her feel loved (and as if she’s your rock. Like you need her.)
・Her pet name for you is ‘ my love, ‘ or ‘darling. ‘
・Elizabeth treats you like FREAKING ROYALTY. You get the best of the best. She adores you and wants you to have everything your heart desires
・You like giving her pretty rocks or sticks etc. you found and she accepts them without question
・Recounts her time as a pirate and she technically still the pirate king (I think if you asked if you guys could be pirates she would jump up and be like “yes, yes I think we should.”)
𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢
She likes how you see the world - your perspective makes her realise that there are so many people out there. That the world is big. And there are so many adventures to be had.
𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑
Would be Captain Jack Sparrow; he’s chaotic, bold, and erratic. He always makes you laugh and you do miss him when he leaves. I was originally going to ship you with him, but he isn’t someone to be tied down with. He isn’t one for commitment.

Contemplating again, as I have done off and on over the years, my tendency to become attached specifically to fictional gay men (or men who can be easily read as gay) with certain types of emotional problems (or who can easily have those problems projected onto them), and what it means. Not that it must necessarily have meaning, but I can’t help but feel that its recurrence does suggest an underlying reason. In recent years I have wanted to trace it to some sort of Gender Thing, but then I am not a man either (and I don’t know why but I always think of it in those terms, either, as if I am always arguing with someone about what I am and am not) although I have thought sometimes that my ideal gender presentation is something approaching “effeminate man", which is to say that if I am going to be consistently mistaken for something I am not, that is the thing I would prefer to be mistaken for. Which also doesn’t mean anything except for what it is, but I have this tendency to overanalyze everything, you see. I want to know why everything. I call myself gay rather than any other sexuality-related word because it’s the one I like most in reference to myself (and there is that classic nonbinary joke, “if you’re attracted to me it’s gay regardless of your gender", but that is not itself a basis for identity even if I am essentially a clown), but I suppose by strictest definitions I am something in the arena of bisexual, or pansexual, whichever you prefer. But gay has always sounded more like me. Sometimes I think that when I identify with gay men in fiction it’s some kind of stolen valor, and who knows what that means. Maybe nothing means anything or maybe the meanings of my actions can never be entirely transparent to me because then I would just be a series of levers and not a person, but I still want to know, because maybe if I knew I would experience one great transcendent moment where everything made sense, or at least I could save the time and expense of finding a therapist. I am thinking about this tonight because of a book I read two weeks ago where I empathized with a particular character more than I think the author intended, which is not to say I missed the point, although I did joke about that on Twitter, only that I got something else from it too but maybe it was from me all along. Or both. I do believe that reading at its best is a conversation. I don’t believe that I need a thorough accounting of the reasoning behind all my gender feelings that produces a perfect balance between male and female to be allowed to continue to exist as I am, but sometimes I find myself trying to construct one anyway, as if proving that all of my emotions and unfathomable longings cancel out to zero will finally make sense of my whole life. Maybe I am not really asking why I feel this sense of kinship but only why I am so uncomfortable with it, and maybe there is no answer except letting go. I’m thinking about changing my name.
