Nimona headcanons part 3 bc I'm insane (out of order and disorganized so like- be ready) and bc it's my new year gift for y'all

• Nimona mostly talks like a normal teen but sometimes she'd use words that show her real age. "Sonorous", "vapidity" n stuff like that. Her vocabulary is INSANELY huge

• Ambrosius tries not to swear so he uses a lot of silly replacements instead. "HOLY S- golly!!", "You son of a b- bishop". Like I'm sorry but he's the type of guy to say fricking instead of, yknow, the intended word. Ballister finds it endearing; Nimona finds it stupid

• Yes yes he does replace sex with lovemaking. Yes he purely refers to him and Bal going at it as "making love". Yes he's a fellow like that

• Ballister doesn't drink alcohol. I know that's implied in the movie that he drinks (although I thought he drank, like, soda?? On the other hand he is a wholeass thirty years old man who's seen some shit so I wouldn't be surprised) but idk he strikes me as a type to refuse drinking out of moral code. He doesn't eat pork for the same reasons (pushing my cultural Muslim Ballister agenda)

• Ambrosius drinks only during celebrations or parties. Not much because he's a light drinker😭 one cup and he's already lying on the floor, crying and hyperanalyzing his life

• after Nimona came back Ambrosius was not safe from her jokes. Neither of them despised each other (not after Nimona saved the whole Kingdom and not after Ambrosius proved he really isn't a jerk) but boy does Nimona make fun of him on any given occasion. Ambrosius was taken aback by this at first but then he just got used to it

• Ambrosius is being kinda petty and jealous when Ballister spends more time with Nimona than him ("Although now apparently he's got a new best friend, what's that about?!"), not in a way that'd make it unhealthy ofc but still😭. Him and Ballister were tied to the hip for like the most of their lives and now there's someone ELSE Ballister likes to hang out with? Ugh🙄

• Ambrosius had a diary when he was a teen, he didn't write much there (one or two sentences a day). Once he became an adult he kind of forgot about it but after the whole... Hunting stuff started happening he found himself writing a ton of sentences there again

• when him and Bal started dating Ambrosius had a whole page in that diary filled with "Ambrosius Boldheart" HE'S A GUY LIKE THAT OKAY

• Ambrosius likes to attack Ballister's face with quick little kisses. If he pecked his forehead he must peck his cheeks and nose and eyelids and cheekbones etc etc

• Nimona sometimes speaks in rhymes. She doesn't know how she's doing it but her tongue just does it on its own. ("Let's go dunk on the punk in the trunk")

• Ballister has actually been a year older than everyone in his class, another reason why he was the black sheep™

• Ambrosius can play the flute and the piano due to his noble upbringing he HATES whenever someone brings it up tho

• Nimona and Ballister have those nights where they recall historical facts and situations and Nimona shows her perspective of the things. "The guy claimed to be a war criminal was the biggest sweetheart in the world what are you onnn". Ballister wrecks his brain trying to understand if she's serious or not

• Ballister doesn't get a lot of the jokes, they just fly over his head. Only after some time he starts getting them, like in the middle of the night randomly going "ohhhh that's what she meant"

• first time Ambrosius and Ballister made out Ambrosius threw his hands in the air and said "yayy :D"

• Ballister's haircare routine is better than you think it is he's just casual about it. Yes he uses coconut oil like his life depends on it

• Ambrosius's complexion is leaner but Bal's is broader. So when they exchange clothes it doesn't fit because Bal's shirts are too loose on Ambrosius but also kinda short and Ambrosius's are kinda long but too tight in the shoulders for Bal. They still think it's sweet to swap their clothes sometimes

AITA for killing a bunch of scientists?

So this might get confusing. To start with, I have no idea who I am. I woke up in some guy's office after a really bad car crash and since he saved my life he made me start doing some odd jobs for him. (I'm pretty sure it was actually someone else but whatever it doesn't matter that much.) I also had something written down on my phone telling me to go kill some other guy but I had no way to do that at the time since I didn't know who the fuck he was.

Fast forward a few days. I've gotten rid of an organized crime group who were guarding an old government lab so I could steal some documents inside for somebody else, I had to get rid of a wholeass SECOND criminal group who were trying to kill this researcher and his team, I had to fight a bunch of fucking zombies in a totally different government lab to steal more paperwork. Once all that shit was taken care of then there's this underground bunker which controls a machine that brainwashes people into a military cult. All these labs and the zombies and the machine are the fault of one (1) group of idiots.

Anyway, there's no reasoning with this cult, so I had to kill like. Three hundred people while turning off the machine and then getting into yet another fucking lab/bunker to shut down this illusion-thing that was luring people in and killing them. I managed to have a chat with the wingnuts who were responsible for this and then find out that A) I was ALSO brainwashed by the thing and sent to assassinate myself by accident since they didn't know who I was but apparently I already got too close to figuring out all this shit once before, and B) these jackasses were technically trying to find a way to contain their massive fuckups. They asked me to join in and help them, since there's some seriously fucked up shit going on in this place, but I noped out and took them all down after mopping up most of the rest of their cult.

I don't know if what I did was right or wrong though, and maybe now that they're gone things will just get worse. More people might die. Or maybe everything will stay the same. I'm not sure anymore. AITA?

TG ‘86/TGM  Leverage AU in which Mav and Ice are the only remaining members of the old squad but then a new insane job that involves destroying a huge corporation that’s killing a small town or something like that comes along and they need a new team, so Ice gets his ~old contacts Cyclone and Warlock into finding them a team of proper ~~experts~~ to team up with Mav again.

Character ramble under the cut but I’m just, shakes fist, THINKING SO HARD ABOUT THIS. Just this heist team-found family shenanigans of old criminals putting a wholeass team together and them becoming family.

And then we get, of course: - Iceman as the mastermind/the brain. Ice Cold plans, no mistakes. Maybe he’s not as insane as Mav but his plans? Flawless. - Maverick as the partner-in-crime/master criminal, of course. Man was a CIA cold war spy who simply “disappeared” at some point, never to be found. Became a legend where criminals were concerned. Dead? Alive? Impossible to catch. Some people might even believe he was D.B. Cooper and all. Man is just impossible to catch and does whatever he wants. Too chaotic. (Insert backstory.) - Rooster, Goose’s son*, as the hitter/muscle/brawn/physically trained bastard, the field specialist with a random bunch of skillsets (he plays piano? getaway driver? cook? sing?) that would make him a very decent spy if only he didn’t have a TEMPER, so in general he’s just VERY GOOD at everything else that doesn’t require direct acting or talking too much; *adjacent story with being Mav and Ice’s surrogate son after Goose’s death, etc etc - Hangman as the reckon/spy/grifter, man’s got charm for days, can play any part and has the lightest hands in the business, catch-me-if-you-can type. Nothing gets past him. Watch the hands, not the mouth might be his biggest trick. Getting him into the job? Was a job in itself. Renowned art thief/white collar criminal. Foster kid who got adopted into a rich family and learned how to act the part maybe?  - Phoenix as the thief, safe-cracker, stealth skills to the max, will break in and out of any vault, security code, lock and key. Will get in and out through any vent, limbo skills against safety lasers to the max. Also a proper martial artist. Ex-CIA who wanted to do good but turns out being like that doesn’t really help anyone. - Bob as the specialist. Phoenix’s partner in crime & best friend, the one who maps out the territory, her guy in the chair (and ultimately the team’s). He’s the one who knows the places, schedules, everything there is about their plans. Has NO social skills alright but he’ll have everything memorized to a T.  Don’t put him to directly interact with the targets, though. No sad backstory, he really just decided to Robin Hood the gig after realizing the insurance companies he tested security systems for were absolutely corrupt and screwing up their clients. - Fanboy as, of course, the hacker & gadget guy. The guy in the chair. He’s not the one to draw plans but he’s the one who help make it all happen, is a huge dork and knows way too much not only about pop culture but about pretty much everything culture. IT genius, definitely broke into the Pentagon systems and got himself into hot water. Payback was his saving grace. You know. The weapons specialist/assassin. The nickname comes with a reason. Mellow dude, another former CIA you don’t wanna piss off. The team hopes they don’t need to use his skills but you won’t get a better sharpshooter in the business. He usually sits with Mickey during their assignments and helps him out with the tech prep. - Coyote as the fixer, he didn’t start as Hangman’s partner but they did a lot of work together so they’re happy to be in the same crew together. Not a criminal as his main profession but he’s ‘the guy who knows a guy who knows a guy’, he’s got the inside, the networking, he can sell anything to anyone, knows everyone, is generally well-loved by the underground community. His main job? Family’s pawn shop. Ends up roped in because he cares about Jake and hey, why not. - Halo, Fritz, Omaha, Yale & Harvard as the guest-in-a-while with different needs to fill in. Omaha & Halo as the decoy/bait, being models as their actual job but they’re friends with Hangman! Fritz as another hacker, Fanboy loves him but their styles are just too wildly different so he brings him in when they need extra juice. Yale & Harvard as underground number runners, the counting cards type people that you DON’T wanna piss off, usually they run casinos to the ground and disappear.

Did I think too much about this? Yes. Did I actually think HARD about it? Yes. Am I considering writing? Maybe. If no one else does. I have even more ideas for the 86 crew. ANYWAY. Please don’t look at me.

1. The character everyone gets wrong

Okay, see, I know people have different ideas and opinions and headcannons, but OH. MY. GOSH. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED.

The MCYT fandom makes me want to scream half the time. I'm gonna say it. Everyone gets BadBoyHalo wrong. Skeppy, Tommyinnit, JSchlatt, Stressmonster, Niki, and a bunch more, too. Half the time I want to explode in this fandom, so I stick with fanart, unless it's flower husbands. Because most FH shippers can read the characters well.

Musical theatre. People always (well, okay, not *always*) get Heather McNamara wrong when acting. I've seen so many awful versions. And Jenna Rolan from Be More Chill, especially when writing fanfic. Though, lemme tell you, all the characters in Be Less Single (BMC dating sim fan game) were spot on. Perfect, I tell you.

8. Common fandom opinion everyone is wrong about

I'm overthinking. This could either mean opinions ABOUT fandom or fandom discourse. I'm assuming the latter.

I dunno man. I don't pay attention much to other people's opinions. I mean, if they badmouth my blorbos, I will have a compelling argument why the are the best being to exist. Headcannon-wise? I mean, okay, I really don't want this taken the wrong way *at all*. But I don't like it when people include [insert character] is trans/queer/pronouns/mental disability if it doesnt have anything to do with the fafic/story that's being told. I understand if you project or write a vent fic or whatever, because those are things to get out of your brain, or if you headcannon this or that, I get it. But if it has no relevance at all to the story, *if it isn't even mentioned*, DONT PUT IT IN THE GODDAMN TAGS.

It's not really a heated opinion, but I needed that out there.

I don't really like to shit on other people's headcannons. But if the opinion is "glup shitto is a bad character", OR FUKIGN WHATEVER THE FUCK THE MCYT SPACE DID TO NIKI, then I will fight you.

12. The unpopular character I like and everyone else hates

Okay. Listen. Purpled. Barely anyone paid attention to that guy because he wasn't a "main character" (there were none in the DSMP, people.) And everyone doesn't like his character after what he did to Slime. But I feel like he's a super deep character that gets overlooked. Quackity literally blew up his house and forced him to go live in Las Nevadas. Quackity also took a lot more from him, too. And when he killed/kidnapped Slime, he was projecting and let all of his grief out on the thing that Quackity cared about, since everything Purpled loved was taken from him.

17. There should be more of this type of fic/art

Okay okay okay. But like, guys. Coffee shop au's. It's simple, right? It's one of the most well known. BUT JESUS, BMC FANDOM, THERE ARE LIKE 5 TOTAL ON AO3. SOULMATE ONES, TOO.

Speaking of soulmates, the Hermitcraft/Life series doesn't have that many non-canon function ones. Like, I want to see timers. Or strings. Or the characters see color for the first time. Or the place their soulmate touches them first changes colors. There's not many.

The MCYT fandom has been sleeping on a bunch of damned bricks, don't even get me started.

There's too much to put for the MCYT fandom.

The BMC fandom has been sleeping on the wholeass line of "If Christine likes me in the end, will I be able to pretend I didn't fail my one real friend?" And all of the hidden stuff in the music. Like how in the broadway version, in The Play, the backtrack plays LGW when Jeremy gives Christine the Mtn Dew Red.

So, a little while ago Diana Galbaldon (one of GRRM's friends) had this to say about GOT and it's relation to ASOIAF: "What happened is that his show caught up with him [GRRM], and he then met with the showrunners and he told them what he was planning to do in that book, so that they could then write accordingly. jon going off with the wildlings - like I've said for years that imvho jon becomes king, splits the seven kingdoms and then goes beyond the wall in auto-exile because it's the one place where he was happy and no one expected shit of him and as much as the show made it suck (also idt dany dies or she dies murdered like that lmao) that is a thing I've been saying for ages

the small council made up of people from disadvantaged categories - I mean idt it's gonna be the same as in the show (for one brienne's never gonna be in the kg but arianne could be in her place and I have a lot of doubts about bronn being there george doesn't gaf about bronn that much), but the concept that we start with a council made of old white rich (assholes) men and we end up with one that's wholly different is absolutely grrm-ish - I mean, the show had bran (disabled), tyrion (disabled), brienne (a woman), davos and bronn (former criminals) and sam (abuse victim/dismissed for his appearance/his father basically sent him off to die at the wall to have him out of the way) and while I highly doubt there's half a chance as stated of brienne and bronn being in it, tyrion davos and sam are absolutely viable candidates and like I also think the small council lasts until jon does his thing and then stays only for KL but anyway that was his thing

bran being king 50% in the sense that I think he becomes king in the north and not king of the whole shebang but since they had to y'know do the whole ice queen sansa thing they decided it was the same thing if it was wholeass seven kingdoms because WHO CARES ABOUT ARTHURIANA SYMBOLISM RIGHT themes are for 8th graders

hi my name is not important but what IS important is that you handcrafted Myriad Trickery and you are the finest argument of why i phucking love fanfic SOOOO much. you have crafted a storyline i never even thought about and put a Metric Ton of care into story structure, worldbuilding, and RELATIONSHIPS, (yes relationships, not just romance because y/n getting to know the squad is SO WELL ILLUSTRATED, like the progression is so delishus. especially with pros. oh to be someone named celeste with a shitty ex husband and smol kids you need to get back --- anyway) like. shit these last few chapters Hurt me. i would like. beat my own ass up for making my babies so sad. so mad. smad. but like, you gotta get your money tho. so shoutout to y/n and wanna know for doing what they have to do with their skillset. also can we talk about y/n l/n for a second?? making them a P.I.??? in-fucking-spired. doing The Absolute Most with 4 entire personas and using them to sink their fingers into hardened criminals and SUCCEEDING at making most of them catch feelings???? teach some classes please because i cant even do that with 1 person!!! Hello anon! Where to begin?! I cannot describe how much it means to me that there are people this invested in my silly little stories. I'm a person who writes more for comfort than actual writing merit but MT is one of the few stories where I really wanted to create something to be proud of on a literary front, and that's what makes it so hard but rewarding to write.

The good news is that I absolutely do want to continue the story. I started a planning document for the next chapter soon after the last and it's been empty until last night, when I finally got down a paragraph on how I want the next chapter to begin. My problem is that I wrote the initial plot entirely around the build up to the big twist reveal, and it's kinda hard to come down from that, but I do have a basic idea of what I want to happen.

I may just cut down the remaining plot to about 3 chapters, but no matter what form I do want to get something out.

You should read Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth. Hands down the most clever, well executed sci fi/fantasy books I’ve read. As analytical and discerning as you are towards media, I feel like you’d have TONS of fun picking apart the cleverness of the book.

The point of this message, tho, was to tell you that Ianthe, who becomes a major character in HtN, is The Most™️ Pathetic meow-meow woman ever written and the entire queer fandom drools over her for it. *Precisely* like that post described. Like, the author specifically designed Ianthe to fulfill that specific brief and then ABSOLUTELY NAILED the execution. (Harrow, bless her heart, is also a pathetic meow meow war criminal and that gets fully explored in HtN).

Fair warning though, these books (HtN especially) might be the most heartbreaking books I’ve ever read. HtN was one of three books in my life to make me cry. I wholeass ugly cried. And, knowing you just via your blog, I feel like HtN is the kind of heartbreaking that you personally would find heartwrenching. I really, really, really want to tell you to go read the NPR book review of HtN bc I know you and I know that review would explain it in a way that you would find wildly appealing, BUT it contains multiple references to a MAJOR spoiler in GtN:(

Honestly this series has been on my TBR for AGES AND AGES AND AGES and funny enough I actually came very close to purchasing it literally last week. It's been one of those things I've learned about through dash osmosis and everyone whose opinion I trust about these sorts of things has really really liked them. I just haven't had the time or funds recently to pick them up.

Just wanted to point out, at the end of the recent chapter when Nagant says she will give Deku more to think about she means she is going to shoot Chisaki. Look at how she whiped her gun arm in his direction, which led Deku's gaze towards him. It wasn't Chisaki calling out that got his attention, it was Nagant. She said she thought he could be useful hence why she brought him along. Shes going to shoot at him to make Deku try save him and get caught in the crossfire. She knows what shes doing

a few other people also sent me asks clarifying this scene, which I appreciate! yeah, that makes a lot of sense, and seems to line up with those last few panels.

a couple of other things which were also pointed out to me:

it's possible Nagant doesn't even know who Overhaul actually is/was, and just thought he was some pathetic guy who might come in handy as a hostage or something. I'm torn on this one, because the HPSC was literally an intelligence agency and Nagant was one of their most elite operatives, so I feel like she would have been well versed in the ins and outs of the criminal underworld. on the other hand, Overhaul didn't take over as the head of Shie Hassaikai until relatively recently, most likely after Nagant had already been sent to Tartarus. so at the very least, she probably doesn't know how powerful he became at his peak. adds an interesting twist to their unlikely partnership.

and on a similar note, Nagant definitely would have no way of knowing that Deku of all people has a connection to Overhaul (and in fact probably knows more about him than Nagant does). hence her surprised reaction in the final panel -- the last thing she expected was for Deku to recognize Overhaul and call him by name.

and that of course leads us to the big question for next chapter, which is how Deku will react to seeing Overhaul again, and whether or not he'll try to save even someone like him. on the one hand Overhaul is an abjectly terrible person who was plotting to engineer a wholeass war by imprisoning and torturing a little girl!! but on the other hand, having seemingly limitless empathy is basically Deku's entire thing, so idk. for me, Overhaul is utterly irredeemable because in order to have a true redemption arc you need to have the capacity for remorse, and Overhaul seems to lack that entirely. but that doesn't mean one can't feel pity for him. I think he's beyond saving, but that in itself is a pretty good reason to feel sorry for someone.

at any rate, regardless of how this plays out, this should be a pretty interesting test for Deku. and as much as I hate Overhaul, he's very much a wild card right now so that is exciting. looking forward to seeing where this goes.

I think one of the most insidious things of the original Marvel Civil War Comic Event (2006) was that the registration side main power force was, like... built up by a really "facts don't care about your feelings" smug intellectual cis white straight man core.

Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Hank Pym, they are all geniuses in their fields, of course their choice of supporting the registration side is the "logical" one compared to the more emotional Steve Rogers and Luke Cage.

Heck, Spider-Man whole deal in this is that he goes for the registration side at first because he thinks is the logical thing to do due to gaslighting, but then acts emotional over it and switches sides just because Stark Reed and Pym happened to clone Thor and had said clone murder a black superhero during a riot in cold blood and also seeing the concentration camps first hand.

And to this day this is never addressed. Civil War (2006) was terrible for the superhero comunity but the three men responsible are never punished for it because they lost their memory/were actually a Skrill chaos agent all along/are Reed Richards and it's repercussions are felt to this day and yet Tony Stark can make some smug joke about the registration program to Cap regarding teen heroes and Cap is forced not cleave him in half with his shield on the spot out of basic human decency.

Because to this day the narrative still pushes for the registration side to be right in theory. In Civil War II Tony still thinks he was on the right side of history back in Civil War I. Because they were the smart white men inteligencia who made the hard choices and compromised with the BUSH FUCKING ADMINISTRATION in difficult times so that corrupt Ancap billionaire Norman Osborn could sweep right in at the last second and take over the whole show by acting like a populist sycophant mining the already weakened Shield Infrastructure by both the Civil War and the Skrill Invasion.

Which is dumb as fuck because we all know that cold and emotionless "Logic" usually discards real human variables from it and is used as an excuse to commit horible atrocities, especially given how many so called intelligent or smart men in real life actually are.

Like, imagine if Elon Musk shows up and tells you the only way to save the world is by throwing other people, people he knows and was friends with, into a penal colony in mars to be re-educated "for the greater good," and fucking GEORGE "WAR CRIMINAL" W BUSH WAS THE ONE WHO PUT HIM THERE TO DO THAT.

(Again, cant stress this enough, there were CONCENTRATION CAMPS in the fucking NEGATIVE ZONE. DURING THE MARVEL BUSH ADMINISTRATION. IT WAS A PATRIOT ACT METAPHOR AND WE WERE SUPPOSED TO ROOT FOR IT. Like... The LAST person who called people out on this? The Ultron and Hank Pym Fusion. Who acts really peeved over his old friends stopped hanging out with him as a group after they discovered he beat up his wife, only to then STILL hang out with people who did way worse shit like Wanda, or Tony and Reed, and all of this right during the HYDRA CAP STORYLINE, pointing out how this is going to end with Hydra Cap being forgiven or some shit in a couple years and invite him back to the gang's barbecue.

And it's insane the only voice of reason here seems to be HANK FUCKING PYM and ULTRON yet here we are.

Roman for the character thing

my top three ships for the character.

gelato ( roman / neo )  —  these two are just wholeass soulmates & honestly, good for them !! i think their dynamic was one of the most solid in the rwby roster & one thing only reinforced that; my only criticism is that i would like to know more about their relationship.

sephora ( roman / blake )  —  i had to ship this for the name alone but also it just has that enemies to lovers vibe to it i love so much, especially with roman implicitly knowing blake’s less than stellar history in the wf that seemed to be dropped. it’s just amazing to me & i’m sad it’s such a rarepair.

gambling men ( roman / clover )  —  this is also such a rarepair but god if it isn’t great, especially in some of the fanworks i’ve seen from people ; showing off a relationship that really just shows off how roman could’ve indulged clover’s less than admirable traits.

my three least favourite ships for the character.

magpie ( roman / qrow )  —  really this is just with the current iteration of qrow, i wouldn’t wish him on anyone lmao.

hermes ( roman / mercury )  —  no shade but i really just don’t see this one working out because of mercury’s issues around older male figures & their canon friction in the show, maybe some really good writing would change my mind but eh.

my biggest criticism for the character.

really i don’t have that many criticisms for roman, he was one of the well planned characters of the story who’s death didn’t feel like it left things unfulfilled; even if it did hurt me that he died & i wished that he had lived.

my favourite thing about the character.

his personality, hands down. roman is such a glorious bastard & i love it  —  he made it very clear from day one that he is out for himself & for neo, everyone else can go kick rocks. he also isn’t a moron, he’s incredibly smart & quick witted & you can believe that he is a veritable threat to the mains while him still believable being a puppet of cinder because she is holding neo & his lives against him.

a headcanon i have about them.

definitely heavily inspired by iron’s fic a red eyed ruby  —  but that roman was a student of the academy who lost that ambition after civilians turned on him for a failure at mount glenn, it really does add some delicious extra weight to his conflict with ruby, with both of them coming from the same starting point but roman showing the dark path she could fall to.

what i would change about them if i was making a re-write.

like i said above, definitely go into his relationship with neo further & just how they came to be, as well as probably give us some more backstory on roman himself. roman as we know him in the present is an amazing character but roman in the past? we have no clue about & it’s unfortunate.

what i think of their character allusion and what (if anything) i would change about it.

roman really examples an issue i have with some allusions in rwby  ;  not that they don’t make sense but that they very heavily conflict with a major inspiration for the character & at times, we don’t know which one is meant to be their actual allusion. roman’s is romeo candlewick, from pinocchio & with one like that, you would expect him to actually be connected to our pinocchio in the story, penny. but he isn’t, they never interacted one on one, with their only “ interaction ” being when penny pulls down the ships at the dockyard & roman runs.

however, a major part of his character design  —  & i would say his personality & place in the story as an antagonist showing off some of his carelessness towards those in society & how criminality is glamorous & enticing  —  comes from the character alex delarge from a clockwork orange. alex delarge is meant to be an example of the lawless youth in society & how we can change them with the right tools but roman subverts that, when ruby gives him the speech on the aircraft. unlike alex, roman isn’t in this for the wanton ultraviolence, he’s in it to protect himself & neo. alex & roman both have the mentality of “ not everyone can be good, there has to be bad people to play their part in the game ” & they play theirs, for slightly different motivations. even in the end, roman fits the villains subversion of their allusion trope with him following against the novel’s ending. alex was cured, while roman stayed a villain until the bitter end & his death.

so while roman’s official allusion is romeo candlewick, a majority of his character design & personality seems influenced from alex delarge & really is only reinforced with how little he interacts with those who would help bolden his allusion like penny. he definitely isn’t the only one to suffer from this, coco adel is another, but while i don’t have a hatred for his allusion, i do think they should’ve just gone with alex if they were going to make him this big a part of roman’s character.

So what if. During the Celebi event. The protag squad actually decides to fuck with the past and ends up hiding their identities somehow, picking up little kid Silver and drags him to Lance.

Like Lance opens the door and gets handed this whole ass, terrified and sobbing child and Ethan just goes "some dipfuck abandoned your kid, please raise him his name is Silver and he likes dragons and dinosaurs i think" nd they just leave.

Back in the future they now have ti deal with whatever cane out of Lance and Clair raising a child. Which I believe theyd shelter him a little too much after hearing that someone abandoned him and now hes not that bright, has access to a tiny onslaught of dragon pokemon and likes arson probably

this is SUCH a fucking funny idea but i think instead of sheltering him lance would just encourage him to kick team rocket's ass even more. like lance had no problem beating up team rocket WITH the protag in mahogany town ("Sorry, <player>. I saw how well you were doing, so I just hung back.") and letting the protag handle the gyarados problem so i think he would see silver's hatred for team rocket and be like "i'll help train you to take them down!" which i feel like silver would HARSHLY reject at first because he wants to become stronger all by himself etc etc but then as the years go by lance's influence sort of helps him. calm down. and he learns that asking for help isn't a sign of weakness or an opportunity for life to stab you in the back. and since now he isn't homeless and having to do everything by himself (and being stuck with his own thoughts like an echo chamber as a result of it) i feel like he'd actually be smarter tbh because he's in better health and has a healthier mindset and makes better decisions because of that.

also i think that when lance sees the protag again he actually does recognize them from when they dropped a wholeass kid on his doorstep and he just. decides not to question it. especially when the protag gives no indication of ever having met him before

BUT ALSO. TINY SILVER ROASTING CLAIR LIKE HE DOES IN THE MAIN GAME. LIKE REMEMBER WHEN HE CALLED CLAIR "THE EMBARRASSING ONE IN THE WEIRD COSTUME" he would DEFINITELY do that at first and i think him and clair would have this ongoing feud that just won't stop. yknow how clair withholds the badge from you until you go into the dragon's den? i bet when silver comes to challenge her she won't even fucking let him in the gym. she locks the doors and is like AHAHAHA LOOK AT THIS IDIOT LOCKED OUT OF THE GYM until silver walks away for 15 mins and comes back and starts TPing the gym until she lets him in. and ethan & lyra are both standing off to the side like "what have we created"

but speaking of ethan and lyra i feel like they would be FLOORED when they meet silver after coming back to the present. like he's not calling them weak he's not trying to prove anything he's just. friendly. with some rough edges of course but it's like how he goes "hey, <player>! you're here in kanto too?" he's happy to see them! and he even helps out when it comes to taking down the rocket members in the radio tower instead of just blowing their cover and bailing. like overall i think silver having an actual stable parental figure that's Not going to abandon him for a criminal organization at the drop of a hat would have a massive impact on his character as a whole and i think the idea of ethan & lyra fucking shit up in the past is soooo funny. i love it

1. How many new TV shows did you start/watch this year?

I had a wholeass TV journey this year. I went through my internet/Netflix history to tally it up and I think I started 7 shows, but I didn’t finish them all. No one asked but I’m going to rank them:

1. Imposters. This little show that no one talks about is so fucking good. It’s silly, but leans into its silliness. It’s got intrigue, genuinely funny moments, a satisfying ending (in my opinion) despite its only 2-season run, and it is overflowing with the found-family trope. If you like mysteries and found family and self-aware melodrama, plz watch this show. It’s such a great time

2. Maid. This was just a limited series, but it was incredible. Based on a true story, it’s a heartfelt, heart-wrenching, and beautiful depiction of Stephanie Land’s escape from an abusive relationship and struggle with the unfair American government’s treatment of those living in poverty. I love the way the show uses style to convey emotion, and I love how nuanced it portrays all its characters.

3. Psych. I watched this show for the first time this year after randomly watching a compilation of funny Shawn/Gus moments on YouTube, and it did not disappoint. I mean, some episodes are rough, but that’s to be expected in the genre and when a show runs for 8 seasons (and movies!). If you like episodic murder mysteries, slow-burn romance, comedy, and pineapples, you’ll love this show. 

4.  Criminal Minds. I’m still actively watching this show, and I can’t stop. Criminal Minds has me constantly shaking my head in disbelief at strange writing decisions, horribly misguided attempts to tackle racism in the American justice system (and general corruption), and buckwild out-of-ideas crimes. But for all its faults, I love the characters (except Hotch. I kind of hate Hotch). I love that they’re a family, and I love the little moments of comedy we get every once and a while. Also I love Dr. Spencer Reid and I will forever hate the writers for killing Maeve. 

5. Twin Peaks. I never got around to finishing Twin Peaks, not because I didn’t want to, but I just got distracted. Also it’s such an iconic, intricate show that I found that I didn’t have the brain to watch it while in school. That being said, the first two seasons were incredible and I can absolutely tell why it’s TV royalty. 

6. Glee. I was one of the few people who didn’t join the Glee-train in 2010, because my parents were kind of strict about what we were allowed to watch. So, I decided to delve back into the early 2010s to escape from the horror that is the 2020s for a while. I only made it to about mid-season 4 before abandoning it because, honestly the new characters and even-worse writing became unbearable. (Though I did watch “The Quarterback” because I remember when Cory Monteith died. That was a powerful episode). Anyway. Glee is a mess, but I can’t help but love it and I truly don’t think our current TV landscape would exist without it. #cancelmrshue

7. Manifest. This show is also a mess, but it doesn’t know it’s a mess. Like, at least Glee was moderately aware that it was a mess. Manifest thinks its clever but it just. Straight up forgets a character is only like 16 and lets her date a college student with no comment. It brings in Egyptian mythology for no reason. Suddenly in season 3 the characters have vaguely magic powers. Incredible. 10/10 would recommend.

I guess I answered that above, but Imposters. Also Psych. I re-watched an episode a few days ago when I was really emotional, and I fully cried when the theme song played. 

3. Least favourite TV show you've watched this year?

I started watching Prodigal Son a few months ago, but I only made it through a few episodes. The premise fucking slaps--the son of a serial killer solves crimes--but the acting was kind of awful. So was the writing. It felt like a big ol fumble of a great premise. Can you tell I watch a lot of murder mysteries?
