Kinda concerned about Mic right now because while the rest of the rooftop gang are either dead or badly injured, he's got by through two wars so far, without so much as a scrape.
Forget Midoriya or Bakugo having plot armour, what about Mic?
Present Mic, who's literally seen his friends die or get hurt in front of him. I am concerned for this man, and if another hero dies, I wouldn't be surprised if it was him, but I wouldn't be ready to face that honestly.

bnha ch 290: yup i remember all the way back when the mountain training camp arc released and people called it then. i was just about to say something about reaping and sowing ha.
297: surprised this max security prison for super dangerous quirk users doesn't have quirk suppressants and body armor for everyone.
298: now that i think about it. eraser head knew about eri's progress. he choose to amputate himself because at that moment they couldn't afford a second, though shigaraki managed to break contact anyways and im not sure his leg could have been salvaged. also surprised the hospital isn't overloading rooms given the major disaster that happened. bakugou's room has a lot of empty space.
303: i dislike the framing here that toya a child of 13 and younger was the one in the wrong here. horikoshi is framing toya's actions as out of line and sure burning himself wasn't the healthiest coping mechanism but he was not the main problem. also i've love to say 12 year old fuyumi blaming herself for her family's problems was insightful commentary on how eldest daughters get treated as 3rd parents instead of the children they are but thats giving horikoshi-sensei a little too much credit.
314: im sensing a double standard here for who gets assassinated and who gets imprisoned. like they imprisoned all for one and gigantomachia but these smups are the ones the public safety commission is killing? see my lack of knowledge on how the japanese government works means im only vaguely guessing what all these organizations do.
midoriya dark bunny era. take a bath! bruh you need a nap. 90s edgy protag! thats what i was thinking of!
320: midoriya cannot continue as he is but wasnt the whole point to keep him away from ua. i dislike when plans are changed halfway through they either should have committed to fortifying ua or kept up support of his feral rabbit lifestyle. in terms of wellness he's gone too far in neglecting himself I'm just wondering if what they did was actually a good plan.
the diper rat confession! stain pep talk! we're getting everything this arc
historically speaking, american foreign involvement is.. iffy. if the cia are involved things are probably going to get worse im looking at like a good chunk of latin america and the banana wars. arguably some of the more publicized stuff helped like taiwan, south korea, germany, and japan are doing pretty well for themselves, and the financial/logistics backing for europe and now ukraine (well the ww2 stuff was pure war profiteering). and then there's inherent abuses of the us industrial military complex, tax payer money to line the pockets of weapons manufacturers and defense contractors, preying on the poor with funding from tax dollars, the rampant abuse and all the crimes that get covered, the lack of regulation in general so you have human rights abuses environmental damage military bases usually poison the surrounding areas.
332: hmm we're too early in this fight. i think some of the pilots will die.
335: holy shit if those hagakure is the spy than the conspiracy theorists got it right. i remember there was this old fan theory circa 2017? 2018? which posited hagakure was the spy because how else did someone so weak get into ua like she can turn invisible and that's it. and how narratively she hadn't done anything while everyone else how a few pages at least. at the time i thought it was a cool idea for an otherwise boring character but the lack of evidence stopped me from going all in on it. in the early arc its said? implied? that there's a spy in UA and people were able to logic and reason it down to probably being a student (i dont remember how they ruled teachers out). hagakure was suspect number 1 but there were a couple other 1 A put up.
336: oh yeah the secret forest training camp. and yeah aoyama was the other one speculated to be a spy. the other conspiracy theoriests got it right!

Trajectory
Trajectory by Carcrash87
Kaina turned to her student, perch on the roof next to her, chicken skewer in hand. It wasn't often that they finished the mission early enough to stay out and simply enjoy the nothingness before the two of them were due to report back.
"Do you ever think what you would be if the Commission didn't take you in?"
"Dead." Hawks didn't even skip a beat as he took another bite, and god wasn't that depressing.
Kaina gave him a playful shove, watching as the crimson wings fluttered out to keep him from falling off the side of the building. "You little shit, give me the fantasy."

I think the fandom misinterprets Hawks the same way the LOV misinterpreted Bakugou.
The mistake the league made was thinking Bakugou’s desire to win out weight his core values on WHY he wanted to become a hero.
Tumblr media
As Aizawa pointed out. Bakugou could never turn into a villain, because it would mean giving up on becoming a hero.
And Bakugou does not give up.
This is why the league's plan back fired. They took Bakugou at face value without knowing anything about his real motivation.
How this is the same misinterpretation some have about Hawks
Similar too the league and Bakugou, I think some don’t think about WHY Hawks wants to be a hero.
There are some that are disappointed that Hawks continues to be a hero. This ranges between those who thought he would turn into a villain, a vigilante or quit hero work all together when; in reality this was never a possibility.
The idea that Hawks would ever stop wanting to be a hero or turn on hero society is pure fanon.
This is due to two reasons.
1. People misinterpreting Hawk's line about wanting an easier life as him wanting to quit.
2. People thinking Hawk’s is vengeful about his situation with the HPSC and hero society.
That last one is interesting because there is so far zero evidence that he feels that way in canon, yet it’s taken as a canon fact by a large part of the fandom.
Did Hawks want to be free of the HPSC? Yes.
Did he want to harm anyone to do so? No not at all.
Does he want to change things about hero society? Yes. He’s made active moves to do so.
Has he shown any signs that he ever wanted to turn on it, harm people involve, quit, lose faith in the ability to change it? No.
Similar to the league’s misinterpretation of Bakugou, the misinterpretation people put on Hawks is believing his distain for the HPSC should out value his desire to help the public.
This was never the case and was never a possibility. Because Hawks wants to be the hero that he saw when he found out heroes were real and not just fictional characters.
Tumblr media
A beacon of light for a little kid who thought such things didn’t exist.
This is what a hero means to him. It’s why he works so hard, sacrifices so much, puts in any amount of effort to the public he can and why the idea of him switching to the villain side or quitting is a fanon concept.
Tumblr media
Hawk’s desire to save people out weighs anything. He’s been this way since he was a child and it’s just gotten stronger as he’s grown.

deku was on fire with the katsuki-esque faces this chapter, love that for him
feral Deku is always a treat, but this was something special. I know they say that people sometimes looks like their pets, but I think someone should do a study on people looking like their rivals.

there comes a point when you've taken the imitation just a little too far, Deku.
anyways but yes! and I hope that once Katsuki finally deigns to show his face again, he'll have one or two more Deku-ish faces to show us in return. those soft Kacchans we got in 284 and 298 were excellent, and I need more. hope you're listening somewhere out there, Horikoshi.

I will say the leaks do confirm a 'mistake' I think Dabi made during the raid. If you recall, he trusted that Hawks, being a hero, would save Twice. Took advantage of it, because he shot flames at Twice knowing Keigo would protect him, and Keigo did, taking much of the blast as he rolled over Twice to shield him. That instinct to save was proven right - until it wasn't. Heroes normally don't kill. It's spoken about in the manga, which is why the whole choice to kill is a big deal. It's also talked about in side stuff, like the novels where it's gone into a little more details.
Essentially, Dabi thought that between Hawks's hero training and his sentiments for Twice, he wouldn't kill him. Hawks, of course, was proving him right up until the end, as he stalled killing Twice, saved him once, and then additionally told us in his internal monologue that he was trying to slow down Twice and going after non-fatal weak spots.
But then he killed him. And that's the one thing I think Dabi did wrong. I don't think he's very aware of what the HPSC does. It seems to be more hush hush and I doubt he would have gotten that information from Ukai Tomie.
Dabi expected that Hawks would act like a normal hero. I have a feeling if it was Miruko, elated as she was to be able to 'go all out' against Noumu who were technically already dead, or even Best Jeanist, they might have not killed Twice. Maimed him in Miruko's case, but not killed. But Hawks isn't a regular hero. Neither was Lady Nagant. And that's the one mistake Dabi really made - Hawks and Lady Nagant are soldiers, not heroes. There is a fundamental difference to how they operate compared to others. The trappings of heroics are there, but they're not like the others who act like civil servants with a degree of agency. They follow orders and have no recourse to leave. They also have different priorities in how they approach things. Most heroes do think of their rankings and earnings. Hawks doesn't like the rankings even if he knows how to game them because ultimately his job is about stats. Killing Twice was a choice open to him because the commission was on his side if he chose to do it.
Additionally, they expected him to do. Recall at the exact moment Hawks was with Twice, the HPSC stormed the hospital Redestro was in, mostly expecting that it the real one. Clearly Hawks did not get the right intel, but they still knew there was a Redestro clone somewhere, they just assumed it was the one at Gunga Villa (though I'm sure they considered the option that hospital one was a clone). Even then, with Twice's Redestro clone active downstairs, Hawks was on a timer to kill Twice because his unconsciousness could not guarantee a clone was downed and Redestro needed to be taken out as quickly as possible (the prosthetics breaking so quickly was a big thing of luck for the heroes). He would have know about the Redestro hospital raid and so the fact Hawks held back as long as he did is fairly remarkable but it was also not his job to. His offering to Twice likely went against what he was ordered to do (kill Twice). But training won out, and Hawks did his job as a soldier, not a hero or friend. And that's what I think the manga is trying to teach Deku right now. Not all heroes are heroes. Some are just soldiers in capes.
