Its funny how I was just talking abt how scary 8H and 12H synastry actually is just now anddddd today as i go through my asks i saw this😂

I'll focus on y'all North Node today for some changes hehe

NN 8th house synastry:

Obsessive tendencies from both sides, but more apparent on the 8H's side.

Soul-deep relationship, can linger in one another's life for quite some time.

NN acknowledge and take pride in how much power they have over the 8H person but they dont realize that as they go deeper into the relationships, they are getting more and more invested.

NN person see the 8H person for what they can become. They see potentials and hidden power within 8H grasp.

NN changed 8H life significantly in some way. (romantically, sexually, financially). If well aspected (venus aspects, harmonious 8H) i'd even say that NN got involve w 8H finance and help them a lot, 8H=other people's money.

A lot of time for romantic context, NN often end up introducing the 8H person to deeper themes of intimacy and sexual experiences. Think that girl from 50 shades of gray entering the red room

Will be extremely hard to forget one another. Will always have some kind of entanglement or cross path later on in life.

there are a few things that bothered me about rose and dimitri’s relationship in the first few books:

some of these takes are on the characters themselves and how i would’ve liked them to be written, so it’s pretty much all opinion. this is not me saying i think the books were written “wrong”

that he was 24??

in my head i make him 22 to make myself feel better

(edit 7.27.21) ik when i made this post i said i’d be fine w him being 22 but no, i lied, he needs to be 20. ive made more posts about this recently if you wanna check them out

i also think him being 22 and just recovering from the loss of ivan makes it seem like he’s still growing up and going through his own development, rather then most of his character development being limited to his restoration and how he feels about his relationship with rose

there was a way to make their situation and relationship have less of a power dynamic and rm did not take advantage of that

there are a lot of moments where it feels like dimitri treats rose more like a problem and some of rose’s behaviors as annoying and inconvenient or even more childish than they are

and despite the book stressing how seriously she takes her duty as a guardian before she even has her promise mark, but when it comes to their relationship and the reasons not to pursue it she forgets a lot of that and it feels very out of character

i think that contributes to dimitri feeling he needs to take more of a power position in terms of where the relationship goes (ie stoping anything for happening)

but that dynamic put a strain on their friendship and put a lot of pressure on dimitri, and kinda makes him close up a bit

i really don’t like that dimitri is sometimes treated like rose’s handler by other guardians

i think dimitri being all brooding and serious is great, but it takes away from the humor he could’ve had. and ik he makes a few jokes but dry and deadpan humor would’ve fit his character really well and when played off of roses more energetic humor would’ve made their dynamic more fun

he kept doing this thing where they’d kiss and he’d pull a way and say it was a mistake and storm off, but it just kept happening

and i can’t imagine how frustrating that must have been to rose

more than frustrating, it must’ve hurt and made her feel unwanted and that she was the mistake

but she never calls him out for this, and says like hey what the hell stop being such an asshole about this

my point is, dimitri and rose could’ve had a much more equal and respect based friendship, especially bc he wasn’t her teacher, he didn’t grade her, etc, he was her mentor (essentially just her trainer)

as a matter of fact, i would’ve liked to see him have more interactions with rose’s friends, some in a professional capacity but also some in a more casual way

some things i think helped even the playing field in their relationship:

dont come after me for this but

rose getting into that fight with lisa right before she lest for russia was so necessary

i think that was the moment rose realized how little lisa was tuned into me rose’s life and gave both of them room to grow

so rose going off on her own in russia, really being on her own for the first time in her life, was really beneficial for her growth as a person

deciding what she wants and for once being free of any sort of supervision or responsibilities. the only person she had to take care of was herself

she felt like she had a duty to go after dimitri not because of her conditioning (the they come first mantra) but because of their love and respect for each other, that duty came from her, not her community

it also gave her a chance to be a responsible adult not for someone else’s approval, but bc she had to be

i feel that a lot of times when she’s making the “responsable” choice, it’s bc she’s trying to prove something to dimitri, which isn’t healthy

all in all, time apart, both while he was a strigoi and after when he was still pushing rose away, was good for both of them.

rose meeting dimitri’s family and staying with them and being treated like family bc he would talk about rose to them is so sweet. and i love that her relationship with them starts without him

then when they were on the run with sydney, they began to rebuild their friendship from the ground up. last sacrifice really felt like the book where they were equals and is probably my favorite book in the series

i also got super excited about rose going to college, i have so many headcanons for that if you wanna hear them

Supergirl Season 2 episode 8 Medusa review part 2

If your curious part 1 was just my breakdown of Kara and Mon-els relationship that got way too long. But as always SPOILERS AND GAY THOUGHTS AHEAD

Me and kel get so excited when Lenas in an episode. Like practically giddy. I can’t help smiling when shes on screen honestly. And yes Katie McGrath is beautiful, but beyond that such a pretty smile and lovely voice. I’m sure ratings started to spike when she joined the cast. Okay enough about pretty girls on to the review

Tipsy fucking Alex though guys I can’t get over this mess of a person.

Alex: if I have to come out to my mom then I choose to do it drunk

Kara: no your not *yoinks beer*

Alex: wait no my coming out juice

Kara Danvers sneaky sneaker extraordinaire can totally interview Lena and find out Cadmus things without anyone knowing. The confidence this goofball has is top tier

Underrated relationship: Alex and Winn though. I really really love Winn and honestly Alex is such big sister energy to both him and Kara.

wow Lenas pretty in the interview scene. A touch of auburn hair from the sunlight really makes this shot and we never get to see her with her hair down. Fan service honestly, or maybe she heard a certain beef cake reporter was gonna come by and wanted to dazzel her.

Lena: hair up is for business. Hair down is for flirting friendship time with Kara

Poor baby thinks she falls short nooooo. Your doing your best godamn your only like 25 jesus. Kara give her a hug she needs love and affection

Kara thinks shes being so sneaky in this interview. Such a golden retriever, bad at sneakin. As soon as she toes the line Lena catches on and kicks her out. Really good acting in the scene, the subtle change in expression to show Lenas guard raising. Good job Katie.

Real quick Lena why is your office so ugly? How do you keep it clean? You spend 99% of your days in this place and its whiter than a hospital room. I hate it. Why is your desk an oval? and why does it have a hole in it? Kara cant eat you out in secret anymore damn.

OOHHHhhhh noooo the fucking gas bomb in the bar what the fuck. EVERYBODIES DEAD JESUS WHAT WAS THAT

Poor Mon-el. What happened at the bar was fucked up, and he feels like its fault when its obviously not.

Love that he and Kara are having bro time playing some Monopoly. Oh no not Kara asking if he likes her. Honestly thought these two had good chemistry in this scene. Im a sucker for dumbass not understanding certain words and phrases. So Kara having to reiterate her questions and finally being like “You don’t want to mate with me do you?” was super fun. Omegaverse vibes mfs. Although I am confused by mon-els reaction “I mean have you seen the kind of women I’ve been attracting?” I honestly don’t know what this means.

Kara internal reaction though: Oh thank god

Wow Kara really just has no regard for her own life, huh? she just opens the door and possibly contaminates herself. It’s good to want to help people, but love you gotta care about yourself too

Good reveal with the fortress of solitude. Oof Kara gonna feel like its her fault all those aliens died and mon-els sick. They do a really good job of showing Karas relationship with her parents through their holograms. She wants so badly to see them again, to talk to them. And she can, but not really. They just aren’t real.

Lena cattily to her mother: im used to celebrating holiday weekends alone at my desk

me to Kara: please invite her to thanksgiving

Okay so Lena being adopted is another interesting parallel to Kara. Also the fact that both Kara and Lena fall into there families shadows, and are left behhind or forgotten. Really interesting how Lena and Karas relationship is so similar to Clark and Lex’s for obvious purposes. Though the CW queer coding the fuck out of their relationship in Smallville really only adds to Supercorp fever. Its always been Homoerotic subtext Harold!

Me watching Lena and Lillian trade verbal blows: Wow ya’lls relationship is fucked up. Lex and Lionelle would spar and fence but you two are on another level jesus

oooooof that last line.

Lena: I know your lying

Lillian: and how could you possibly know that?

Lena: because you told me you loved me. And we both know thats not true

Who wrote this jesus fuck my heart. The PAIN.

Bonus thought Lena thinks Karas smart. Goofball beefcake sneaky sneakster who doesnt know the difference between flirting and friendship is smart she thinks. I love these idiots

Wow Kara just doesn’t wait huh? Oh cadmus is going to be at LCorp? Not on my watch. Lena’s there. I know this because I tune into her heart beat just to check on her cus she likes to work late. Don’t worry Alex it’s for friendship reasons.

That LCorp security guard got princess carried for .2 seconds. Best moment of his life.

God its like dark out. Lenas working on a holiday weekend into the night. I hate this, give her friends.

Lena looks so scared when Kara gets thrown into the giant LCorp sign

And then hurt Kara looking up at her with dread.

Kara internal: fuck don’t come out now. I came here to save you

God I love the protectiveness. Its *chefs kiss*. Hank throwing the beam at Lena and Kara even in her hurt state throwing herself in front of it. Sometimes self sacrifice is gay. But how Lena looks at her after wards like “I can’t believe I’m alive. I can’t believe she chose to save me”. Met with a gruff “Get out of here!”. mm yes this is my kind of content. Fight for me.

I was robbed an aftercare scene but I doubt it will be the last time. (*COUGHS* the “im leaving” phone call *COUGHS*)

Talking about the virus Eliza: what about Lena Luthor?

Kara: What about her?! (super defensive is also a super power maam)

Winn: Luthors can be pretty good actors

Kara: No, I looked into LENAS EYES. She doesn’t know anything about cadmus or her mother

J’onzz: Would you stake Mon-els life on that?

well I guess that really puts Lena and Mon-el right next to each other in priorities huh? Which one is more important?

Wow Lena totally has a crush on Supergirl after that. Flustered dork.

Lena: *laughs nervously* you know that doors not really an entrance

Kara: *upsettit stone face pupper*

Lena: :,)

Okay but the way Lena just says “Anything” all breathless and helpful when Kara says she needs her help. Shes crushin hard

Kara tells Lena her mother is in charge of Cadmus.

Lena: >:(

Annnd the crush is dead. That did not last long. Really love that Lena has such a different relationship with Kara vs Supergirl though, good dynamic having her reactions so different. Which I believe actually relates as a Clark and Lois parallel? Seeing as how Lois has two separate relationships with Clark and Superman.

OOf the way Lenas throat bobs with genuine sadness because who she thought Supergirl was is wrong. Shes just like the rest of them. Thinks Lena is just another crazy Luthor. It hurts

Kara: I know what its like to be disillusioned by our parents, but Im a pretty good judge of character, and you are not like your mother. She is cold and dangerous. And you are too good and too smart to follow in her path. Be your own Hero.

Wow just what a good line. They are capable of some things here and there arent they? Melissa's delivery on this is excellent. And the way Katie McGrath is able to show such depth of sadness and bitterness even from a shot of her BACK is really cool. Great acting in this scene in particular. And I can see why the “desperation to be good” is such a highlighted part of these two relationship. Its the one thing in common between Lena and Supergirl, the place where they can meet in the middle. And the way Lena looks after her as she leaves! AHHH thats the good shit, the pining

Okay big Mon-el scene in coming so if you dont want to hear my ranting skip over this part.

Funny how as soon as Kara has this big impactful scene with Lena full of tension and emotion the writers were like: shit we almost forgot Mon-els dying.

Kara: *staring sadly back into Lenas office kind of wanting to go back in*

Writers: *cough cough* KARA He’s DYINGGGG

Kara: Oh shit right. Mon-el Oh no. My *looks at poorly written handwriting on her palm* romantic interest?

Wow Mon-el looks like shit, poor guy. Someone swaddle this pillow princess and get him some soup.

Heres a question. Kara is visibly upset that Mon-el is dying. Is it because she’s sad that the guy shes likes is dying. Because her friend is dying? Because her father created the virus thats killing him (what the writers want us to think)? Or because no matter what Kara does the people she loves keep falling through the cracks and shes helpless to stop it?

Her parents. Clark. Her adoptive father. Now Lena. Now Mon-el. Why can’t she ever do anything? Why is it always her fault? This poor kid has some deep seeded abandonment issues

Mon-el: you know you look beautiful with the weight of all these worlds on your shoulders.

I do remember my reaction here, cus I thought this was a weird line. A line that was obviously meant to be romantic and complimentary, but it felt unsettled in my stomach. Coming back and watching the scene it sits even more uncomfortably there. He obviously means well, but this line is kind of just shitty. Its a very selfish and unthoughtful thing to say to someone.

Kara’s entire fucking life has revolved around other people and making sure they are happy and taken care of. But having “failed” at such a young age to do the impossible things asked of her (carrying on Kryptons legacy, raising Clark) she overcompensates. Any normal person would just make their life revolve around their family and friends, not healthy but it works. But Kara feels responsibility over an entire world of lost people and lives. So the amount she overcompensates is ungodly. She does have the weight of worlds on her shoulders. This is not a joke or hyperbole. Its just her life. And thats so fucking shitty. And to have someone actually see that and acknowledge it. To make it a reality so to speak. Then to have them say “yeah you look good like this” while you’re a shaking Atlas being crushed. It is just a little too much isn’t it? That pain to have someone see you finally, and then completely miss the point. For them to go “oh wow your so strong. your so brave” instead of “let me help you. you shouldn’t have to do this at all, forget by yourself. But now I am here”.

I imagine this was the scene that crowned my darling himbo boy Mon-Hell? Which is so unfortunate. I hope Im wrong, but I feel that his character might just end up a big missed opportunity

I want everyone to know that me and Kel screamed through the entire enxt few seconds of the scene. We knew the kiss was coming from how they were building it up. But god was it painful, especially for it to be delivered after a line like THAT. But yeah very loud angry screaming

Also not to be that bitch but Kara and Mon-els scene was a total of 1:53 RT, and Kara and Lenas ran at a 1:57 RT. Just sayin...

No Lena don’t be evil thats too sexy...

Okay but the way that Lena just tricks Lillian is so good. Shes so clever. And added bonus she makes her ask for her help, which is nice actually. Lillian's obvious vice is weakness and that is often shown in embarrassment. A woman like this asking for help borders that line of weakness and its nice to see on such a dislikable character. Lena didn’t just get what she wanted she got a point over her mother.

Lena looks good in the purple coat. Repeat she is pretty

Love the mental chess game between Lena and Lillian. Lena offering help right off the bat and giving her the isotope free of charge. And then Lillian making Lena launch the virus to prove herself. Good stuff.

Kara appears: don’t do it Lena!

Lena: why not? im a luthor

Okay so obviously Lena switched the Isotope and the Virus won’t work. But thats what makes this line so perfect. Throwing it back in Supergirls face. Like “Yeah, Im a luthor. And Ill show you what im capable of.” But instead of mass death and destruction Lena saves the day. She saved thousands of lives, and its because shes a Luthor that she was able to do that. Really nice way to full circle that

Wow Lillian really just starts booking it without Lena, huh? bitch

I really love the scene of the virus falling all around National City. The choice of an orangish snow falling was a really really good one. Paired with some excellent music for the mid season finale.

Its sad but I do love Hank just being ready and at peace with death. Im sure he misses his wife and daughters.

Okay but Lena calling the cops is tea. Send your mom to jail honey.

So we’re really not gonna talk about how Lena saved everyones asses? Like don’t you think Supergirl would want to talk to the woman that A) kind of tricked her, and B) saved National City. Thats just what makes sense??? But no we’re going to ignore that the DEO is a kind of shit at their job sometimes. And that the woman that they were accusing of having a part to play in all the xenophobic shit is the one who did their job. BY HER SELF.

Okay rant over. This was a long one review dear god. Really really good episode though. I enjoyed rewatching all the scenes even if it was a mixed bag of feelings. Thanks for reading hope you enjoyed all the screaming!

ok i have a dumb question. do you think merlin understands whenever other magic users are casting spells? ok i feel like this is a dumb question now. but like, is magic a language? are all incantations in a different language, so when other person who knows magic is watching you- they know what you're trying to do and such? i feel like "of course they'd know" but i'm basing that assumption on hp where everyone knows that alohomora is alohomora and where everyone knows that lumos is lumos. but what about here? does merlin know what she's incanting? can he slightly understand it even if he's never seen/done it before? is magic a language like latin, and even if you aren't completely fluent, you and parse together things and make an assumptions?

A NOTP I have with said character: i have nothing against karui but canon is fucking dead to me and my opinions on p much all the “endgame” ships range from utterly neutral to absolute loathing. their relationship is on neither end of the spectrum, but. eh. definitely not into it. A random headcanon: he keeps nursing injured animals back to health because he’s just that fucking sweet and bringing them back to his house to keep them warm and safe while they recover and his team knows vaguely about this and ino and shikamaru like to poke fun at him for it but since they don’t tend to encounter said animals, it’s not really a huge deal.

of course they stop by his house one day bc he hadn’t shown up for training which is annoying and frankly a little concerning and finding the house mostly empty ino just bursts on into chouji’s room only to immediately have the opossum he’s been caring for latch its little paws on her face and cling.

it’s a bad morning. General Opinion over said character: literally one of my absolute favorites of all time and it really breaks my heart how overlooked he is in the fandom (seriously y’all...). i think kishimoto is kind of a stupid hack and the Fat Jokes are really grating and it sucks to see that so intrinsically tied to his character (like. just let him be fat. jesus christ) but his kindness and overall relaxed, loyal and lovable nature has me just melting. i adore him.

Shikamaru

Sexuality Headcanon: He’s gay, scoob. (I could also talk a lot about how his earlier misogyny is both a product of being a whiny tween and also some internalized frustration of like WHATS SO GREAT ABOUT GIRLS. UGH. I DONT. STOP TELLING ME IM GONNA FALL IN LOVE WITH ONE ONE DAY DAD JESUS. and let’s be real, thats frustrating, even if it aint an excuse) Gender Headcanon: he uses he/him pronouns because it’s just what he’s used to and comfortable with but man gender is such a drag... A ship I have with said character: SEE ABOVE SHIKACHO RANT A BROTP I have with said character: naruto! he and naruto have a really adorable friendship and i love love LOVE that he and chouji were shown to be kind and accepting of him even when most people were shunning him. also he’s so fucking dumb i love seeing shikamaru meticulously plan out something only to have naruto shriek into battle and ruin all of it. love those guys. stupid bros. A NOTP I have with said character: ok. im sorry i just. loathe sh*katema i really do. i haaaate the way kishimoto writes this whole “ew a GIRL” “ew a MAN” vibe with the like OOOH BUT THEYRE GONNA LIKE EACH OTHER vibe like.

General Opinion over said character: if you told 9 year old me watching naruto for the first time my favs were gonna be a three way tie of lee, shikamaru and chouji i never would have fucking believed you but here we are. i love him. i absolutely love him. he’s such a whiny bastard and a really good depiction of burnout genius who doesnt want to do ANYTHING, but his intellect is an absolute DELIGHT to watch. i love him very much.

Sexuality Headcanon: he’s pan!! this is a boy that crushes easily and crushes hard on just about anyone!!!! Gender Headcanon: cis male A ship I have with said character: ok i ship him a lot with neji actually? what with how neji grows during the course of the series to regard lee with the respect he deserves is really sweet and there’s just something so infinitely adorable about him going around being the hammiest, most ridiculously earnest, kind and enthusiastic person and neji, now that he isn’t constantly bitter and angry at the world can finally really see that? lee is always happily dropkicking his way into his life, like he wouldn’t have it any other way, and i think that’s just...so sweet A BROTP I have with said character: SAKURAAAAA. oh my GOD do i adore their relationship. ever since lee saved her and basically just gave her a glimpse of his...lee-ness, the fact her negative opinion of him IMMEDIATELY flipped and gave her such a strong admiration and fondness for him kills me DEAD. she always treats him with so much respect and the fact she’s quick to rag on anyone making fun of him melts my HEART!! and on lee’s side, his little crush on her is adorable of course, but the sheer strength of the friendship that comes from it is more than infatuation could ever offer him. i want them to hang out together and talk about their troubles...i want them to make each other laugh and be so very kind to each other...i want sakura to storm over and throw him over her shoulder to TAKE A BREAK ALREADY when he’s been training too hard for too long. god. A NOTP I have with said character: honestly i’m pretty happy with a lot of lee ships! the only ones i view with obvious disdain are the ones with creepy age gaps honestly. A random headcanon: out of everyone in the leaf genin, he’s probably the closest anyone’s ever come to someone who EVERYONE is at least distantly friendly towards. like god have you SEEN how warm and inviting and concerned he is the SECOND he sees that naruto is feeling down? i get the sense he’s immediately inclined to provide that kind of support to any of his comrades, even the ones that Resist it.

you think sasuke is the most popular among the leaf genin? puh-LEASE. everyone looks on rock lee with at least a LITTLE bit of warmth. thats just fact. General Opinion over said character: since my first viewing of naruto he has been my Absolute fav, and while chouji and shikamaru are veeery close to stealing that spot, one look at him and i feel he’s gonna be on top forever. probably the best written character kishimoto’s ever produced that’s remained in the main cast (tho i dont speak for shipudden onwards who fucking knows, but the truth of it is is i adore rock lee)

Gaara

Sexuality Headcanon: Panromantic Asexual Gender Headcanon: kind of like shikamaru, i feel like he uses he/him pronouns but also doesn’t particularly....Care? A ship I have with said character: ok so it wasnt until my naruto rewatch that i really started falling into this but i think him and naruto are super cute? while i loathe kishimoto for ruining so much abt this show he really is good at creating good foils to naruto, and gaara is no exception--and the way naruto changes his life by just kicking his ass (and proving he’s not just a Simp or smth) and then just, extending genuine empathy and a REAL sense of truly relating to where he’s coming from re:his upbringing? the EFFECT it has on him, bro!!!! my god!!! i feel like they’re that opposites attract ship that don’t clash constantly but instead fall into this adorable synergy and understanding? and i think thats so sweet A BROTP I have with said character: ...is it cheating to just put temari and kankuro here? bc they are literally his siblings but my GOD do i love their relationship. there’s something so deeply sad about their initial situation??? like having siblings that either are deeply fucking afraid of you or clearly don’t care for your well being whatsoever, it’s such a tragic scenario, and the times where they really do show legitimate care for gaara just breaks my heart...but the GROWTH. merrit is the only child of the young hornsby couple. she doesn’t remember much of her childhood, according to her grandma, she was the happiest kid. had everything she could ever ask for and more.

the reason why merrit can’t remember any of this is the beginning of a tragedy — a stormy december night, she and her parents went missing. grandma says they were gone for over five months. a kidnapping case gone cold, they thought. right when the old couple was giving up on them, an angel from above delivered antonia to their door step. malnourished, void of any memory but alive.

life after losing her parents was easier than expected, grandma hornsby ( nee du pont ) made sure merrit would recover from this without any trauma & in a way, she did.

doesn’t have the best relationship with her grandpa, he’s harsh and cranky and too smart for his own good, merrit is lowkey afraid of him lmfao

she’s currently studying architecture — her dream major was interior design but grandpa encouraged her to pursue architecture to follow her father’s footsteps. kinda made sense because she’s fascinated by houses .. in reality the insides, the families living there are the real source of interest for her but she’s happy to settle for outside for now gshdjkf

OK MIRRORVERSE AU TEAM ROCKET MASTERPOST!!!!!!!!!! dont ask me abt anyone else i write spacecraft club only

Mirror World Rules:

The mirror world exists as a parallel dimension to the main canon, the barrier between the two thinning in Kalos’s Reflecting Cave. Characters in the mirror world have personalities that run directly opposite to their main world counterparts, but major events and friendships appear to be unchanged. Dynamics might shift or be drastically altered, but major events still happen.

Mirror Team Rocket are known heroes of justice who fight evildoers. In passing one day, they encounter an incredibly timid/anxious boy and his pikachu just starting out on their journey. They become attached to the pair, and elect to keep an eye on them to make sure nothing bad happens. From that day forward, they follow Ash and Pikachu around like second parents, their mostly silent guardian angels.

As a team, MTR’s biggest, most defining trait is a distaste for villainy. Much like how Regular TR doesn’t mind throwing away villainy for the greater good, sometimes, MTR doesn’t mind breaking rules for the greater good. They’re more like Robin Hoods, a LOT more like their namesake.

As individuals, things are a little more complex!

Jessie:

A softhearted girl who collects loving foster homes like she collects pokémon. She was born to Jane Miyamoto, a single mother who was the pride of Team Rocket and voted Biggest Helicopter Parent 1997. When Jane disappeared on a mission one day, Jessie quickly fell into a depression that lasted most of her young life, struggling through her adolescence to cope properly and live the life of a normal kid. She realizes eventually that she can’t just sit around any longer, and joins Team Rocket in the hopes that she can act as a protector to others living lonely lives.

STRENGTH: Super non-judgmental, is unconcerned with outward beauty.

WEAKNESS: Easy to manipulate. Doesn’t listen to her instincts, viewing many genuinely bad people as misunderstood.

STRENGTH: Patient and understanding, a de-escalator.

WEAKNESS: Tolerant to a fault. A bit of a doormat, has trouble saying no.

STRENGTH: Values friendship and other pleasures over romantic love.

WEAKNESS: Incredibly dense. Blind to romance and afraid of commitment in relationships.

STRENGTH: Single-minded, excellent focus.

WEAKNESS: Tunnel vision.

STRENGTH: Prepared for trouble. Has a plan for when things go wrong.

WEAKNESS: Pessimistic. Tends to assume the worst, and get lost in anxious thoughts.

STRENGTH: Soft-spoken, polite, inviting, and kind.

WEAKNESS: Timid and sensitive. Poor self-confidence.

James:

The only son of two philanthropists, handed a perfect life. A sprawling estate, a family who loves him, a doting fiancee, and the whole world beneath his feet to explore. Full of rebellious energy with nothing to rebel against, James always felt as though something was missing, and set out young to find his calling. Inspired by his parents to always give back, he joined Team Rocket to travel the world fighting evil.

STRENGTH: Fiery personality, quick to self-advocate

WEAKNESS: Hair-trigger temper. Has trouble taking a step back.

STRENGTH: Charges forward, fearlessly.

WEAKNESS: Like Jessie, is a little careless & unaware of his surroundings

STRENGTH: Chases structure. Is always looking to build plans on a strong foundation. Likes to be told what to do.

WEAKNESS: Is afraid of spontaneity. Freezes up when presented with the freedom to choose.

STRENGTH: Idealistic, hopeless romantic. Literally the perfect man.

WEAKNESS: Obsessed with settling down and getting married. Comes on WAY too strong.

STRENGTH: Incredible confidence, assertive and bold.

WEAKNESS: Indestructible pride. Has trouble admitting when he’s wrong.

STRENGTH: Self-prioritizing. Considers himself his own #1.

WEAKNESS: Selfish. Has to make an effort to care for others & make sacrifices.

STRENGTH: Optimist! Always looking on the bright side.

WEAKNESS: Has trouble realizing when things are really bad, and tends to bury his own feelings & disregard the feelings of others.

STRENGTH: Certain of his inward strength.

WEAKNESS: Insecure about his looks.

Meowth

An orphaned meowth who grew up on the city streets. Since he was a kitten, Meowth’s had the personality of a refined gentleman, and never entirely fit in with a crowd of his own. In his heyday, he fell head over heels for Meowzie, another meowth who lived a charmed enough life to have a human trainer but rejected it entirely to run with his pack when the sun set. His attempts to impress her with his smooth tongue all failed, his cadence sounding far too much like the human one she was intent to ignore. Heartbroken at Meowzie viewing him as nothing more than a snob, he seethed a simple I’ll show you human and learned to walk and talk in the same breath that he swore off trite things like romance forever.

STRENGTH: Easygoing, fulfilled.

WEAKNESS: Has trouble finding motivation, lackadaisical. Believes he’s above learning anything new.

STRENGTH: Honest.

WEAKNESS: TOO honest. Doesn’t sugarcoat. Can’t lie even when he needs to.

STRENGTH: Realistic in his worldview. Easily keeps a levelhead, doesn’t get lost in his daydreams.

WEAKNESS: Cynical. Has trouble understanding why anyone would want to daydream.

STRENGTH: Independent. Doesn’t rely on anyone’s approval.

WEAKNESS: Greedy. Unwilling to please, at times.

STRENGTH: Like Jessie, cannot be bothered/distracted by the appeal of romance.

WEAKNESS: CAN be distracted in that he’s utterly repulsed by it.

STRENGTH: Isn’t often prone to jealousy/envy. Satisfied and secure with where he is.

WEAKNESS: Seems a little cold and detached. It’s not uncommon for his friends to wonder if he truly cares for them.

STRENGTH: Unashamed of his eccentricities.

WEAKNESS: Boisterous and a little snobby.

Wobbuffet:

Too much of a handful for his OT, but Jessie thinks he’s perfect. A stern firecracker who’s always the first to jump into the fray, despite the fact that he can’t actually throw a punch at anyone. The metaphorical rage-filled chihuahua foaming at the mouth at Jessie’s heel. Don’t fuck with Wobbuffet. If you fuck with Wobbuffet, you’ve lost already.

with octane: both of them are agents of chaos and just absolute dumbasses sometimes. their friendship isnt rly too deep, theyre both just having fun. mila will play video games w him and win (but totally not bc shes cheating. how dare u accuse her of such things). rip to crypto and lifeline for having to deal with them

with mirage: oh shes gonna bully the hell out of him . he may be older than her but he's definitely the little brother in this dynamic. mila teases him but she means well. she also definitely sees through his 'mirage' persona but its not smth for her to bring up so *shrug*

with caustic: do i even need to explain this one. he act like a pretentious, old white man and she breaks his nose. literally afterwards its just "it is disrespectful--" "to you" "first of all its disrespectful in general," "to You." and honestly she'd break his nose again

with crypto: crypto has and always will be her brother and she loves him, but she will also make him suffer KHJDFHKHJGKJHGF. literally she will ruin his serious + brooding rep immediately. everyone else sees the cain effect in-action and its never the same again. seriously though, mila struggled with her previous foster families, and when she saw crypto it was like "thats free brother!" mila was always the mischevious one, while crypto was more careful . that did not ever stop mila from doing stupid shit. at all.

with pathfinder: she likes him! he's just vibing. a funky little lad. if anyone's mean to him she will beat them up

with revenant: no thoughts head empty. she does not see this little skeleton freak as a threat though, she'll fold him like a lawn chair

with bangalore: mila hates the imc. she hates the military. but shes a little gay, she will not lie. mila knows that bangalore has good intentions and the right spirit, but she's using it with the wrong people

with wattson: mila fucking loves her puns so much. she tries to do puns too but never work as well.... i do hc that wattson has a tiny baby crush on mila though . dont ask me to elaborate shes just gay

with lifeline: mila can be a handful to deal with when shes with octane, but otherwise shes well behaved around lifeline. mila definitely respects lifeline's efforts and what she does to help people. despite that she will go into a 1v3 against lifeline's wishes and win . it stresses out lifeline to no end

with wraith: you already know i ship milaith. even outside of shipping, mila likes wraith. wraith is interesting to her, and at the very least, i think she'd become friends with her and do whatever she could to help wraith. whether it was figure out more info about rene or her family, she's willing to help

with bloodhound: they're cool. KKJJFGHKJFGH theyre not super close friends but theyre allies. also trans solidarity. mila just thinks bloodhound is rly cool

Same anon as earlier and dont feel bad about canon or non canon. I wanted the whole list - i just kinda want to understand what you see in all these ships since they didn't ping to me like they did to you but i WANT to be as open and flexible and multishipper as you. So feel free to talk about literally every single possible pairing, canon or otherwise, and why they're great so i can see it through your eyes when I eventually do a rewatch and as a result hopefully ship more pairings as well

This is following up THIS POST where I go off about a few of the many ships I ship and when I started shipping them and whyYOU HAVE NO IDEA THE CAN OF WORMS YOU ARE OPENING DO YOU. I love that people have their OTP they will live and die by, but for me, especially as a writer who likes to switch up what and who I’m writing to keep things fun, I thrive off of being able to imagine the infinite ‘what-if?’ possibilities of everything we didn’t get. Sometimes it’s totally out there, sometimes it’s very canon-adjacent, and obviously everyone has their own preferences. But Shadowhunters is a multishipper dream.

Okay. Okay I will go more in-depth on my favorite non-Malec pairings, because all you need are eyes to see that those two are in love and soulmates and absolutely head-over-heels for one another. I feel like no one needs to be explained into Malec. Instead, we’ll start with Simon.

So here’s the thing about Simon, and very specifically the way Alberto plays him: I feel like he just has chemistry with everyone?! Like, every single scene he’s in with another character has this very distinct energy to it, like Simon is able to work off of anything thrown at him by anyone, like he can take whatever they’re saying and just vibe with it. He can seamlessly flit from Raphael to Maia to Jace to Izzy and just exist in their space. In my mind, he’s the easiest to ship with almost anyone. He’s kind, and funny, but deeper than that he just wants to help and do right by those he loves, no matter what the personal cost, and you can see that in every friendship/relationship dynamic he has on the show. I can ship Simon with almost anyone, no issues.

Favorite Simon ships? Saia. Jimon. Saphael. That whole ‘tough badass loves the nerdy rambler’ thing is just it for me with the first two, and Saphael. SAPHAEL. The amount of breaking his own rules that Raphael did for Simon and how Simon keeps going back to him no matter how distant Raphael tries to be just begs for there to be something more between them.

Now, for Clizzy, I know I mentioned a bit about the whole ‘everything’s your color!’ moment, but really, just every interaction between these two has serious flirty undertones. Just take a few minutes in the Clizzy tag to look at gifsets and I mean:

THESE SOFT LOOKS FOR EACH OTHER. JUST. ALL THE TIME.

To a lesser extent you get that with Clary and Maia interactions as well. Obviously easy enough to read as Clary just being kind and soft and excited to have some badass female friends in her life, but it doesn’t take much to read more into these little moments if you wanted to turn them into something else.

As far as Reyhill goes, I love them but for totally different reasons. Obviously meant to be implied canon just a little, even if they’re only hinted at a bit at the very end of the show for .5 seconds, I think the dynamic between them is such a great contrast to Malec. Here you have a warlock who was despised at the end and trying to earn his way back into people’s good graces. You have a Shadowhunter who showed clear biases against Warlocks previously who is trying to get beyond those ingrained prejudices. You have that trailblazing couple going first, and then you have Andrew and Lorenzo watching them and thinking, ‘hell, if they can, maybe I can, too’, but making their own way of it.

So, for things with literally no show basis and just, idk, fandom things I came across and went ‘yes good i shall protect them’ over:

Raphael/Simon/Jace. This is just a lot of what I mentioned above with Simon being ridiculously compatible with everyone, with the bonus of two stubborn, stoic, ‘oh my god why do I like you’ personas that can either bond over their similarities or use it in a butting-heads-at-every-turn start before they learn to balance each other out.

Isabelle and Lydia started with a bts photo for me. I’m sure fic existed before I saw it and went ‘OH’ over the possibilities, but this was the beginning of the end:

JUST THINK ABOUT IT. Neither of them take any crap from anyone. Fierce women, protective of everything they earned for themselves, protective of those they love, loyal to their families… get them together and they would be an unstoppable force. Imagine the two of them teaming up in a fight or in a battle of wits to get something they want or take out an obstacle in their way? OOF.

There is, quite literally, something for everyone in this show. The cast of characters varies widely in personalities that can be thrown together in a seemingly infinite number of combinations. It’s a multishipper heaven if you’re open to it and I’ve seen any number of pairings tossed about in fanfic from ‘totally out there’ to ‘how did I never think of them!?’. If you’ve got an open mind to go poking around new ones, you might find something new you can really get behind! And if not, hey, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to what you know and love

How strict is the delineation of creative control vis-a-vis characters/plays between the mods? (@pedanticlecturer)

We generally have the plays split up along lines of “what we know”— we have a list at the very beginning of the blog. Sometimes we’ll draw the others’ characters (mostly me drawing some of Star’s…) but even then the final say on characterization is up to the “main” mod for that play — mod aster

I think my favorite play overall is Macbeth, just because I like the vibes (and the fact that I too could kill Macbeth), the fact that you don’t say it’s name in theatres, and the fact that it’s a play I did a full read through and analysis of in class. This is phrased like an ACT question and i might not answer it right so sorry in advance but: mod aster and i only selected a few plays for each of us to do given we dont know all of shakespeare’s works, but we tend to put more emphasis on the the more well known. But it also comes down to 1. How much we have plotted out for each play and 2. What the followers ask about most. Our two most popular are hamlet and macbeth bc people are familiar w those but around march caesar always becomes relevant again. I didnt even have designs for some of the characters until someone asked about them. -- mod star

I would say the same as star— it generally comes down to what people ask about. I will say that the overall plot is sort of separated into “has happened” and “is happening”. Like, the human potion of Midsummer, Julius Caesar, and Macbeth are all in the “aftermath” portion, while Twelfth Night, Hamlet, and Romeo and Juliet, among others, are happening. We’re trying to incorporate as much as we can, and I don’t think any of them were really put in without some thought.— mod aster

I go to a theater school rn and so ive dealt w shakespeare (although not all of them) it also helps that i was in loves labours lost last year as moth and that i read hamlet and r n j. Theres also a theater in my state that always does One Big Shakespeare per season and they always do them super well!!! My love for shakespeare probably started w seeing midsummer at that theater w mod aster!!! So. Theater kid rights!! -- mod star

To be honest, I got back into Shakespeare Because of the blog. I’ve been friends with some people that got really Pretentious about Shakespeare, and it kinda put me off of it. I did have a book of abridged plays (the plays’ plots written out in prose, basically) that I read as a kid, which is what got me into not only the plots of a lot of the plays, but also the idea of having them illustrated. And, same as star, the theater in state does the One Big Shakespeare— and they tend to do some really cool things with the costumes, setting them in diff time periods. Uhh i started drawing when i was like idk 12 and i have the giant boxes of sketchbooks to prove it!!! Oh man. I started drawing when I was about 10, but it was Bad. I don’t think I got much into drawing again until I was about 14? Sometime around the end of middle school/beginning of high school. I would say I started getting into drawing as more than doodling/coloring edits sometime around 2015-16? I would draw on my iPad with my finger, then I got a tablet for my computer, and now I pretty much stick to my iPad with an Apple Pencil. My first Shakespeare play was….. uh…… probably Midsummer???? I have No idea. We would go to plays when I was little, so I honestly don’t remember if I saw others before. Met mod aster when i was like 4 and even tho we didnt live close we became like, best friends although the Best part didnt start until we were like 13-ish and eventually we talked like non stop (about anime and homestuck. Yknow. 13 year old kid things) and we didnt see each other a lot bc of Distance and now its even worse bc aster is in colleg.,e but we consider each other siblings regardless of family bc we’re adopted into our own respective families so that bled over into our friendship and it would feel weird calling him anything other than my brother now. It can depend on the piece? I was working on some (unrelated) oc prints that were song-focused, and for those I just listened to said song on loop. Sometimes I have playlists. Sometimes I’ll just be in a Mood and throw a song on loop. But a lot of time for the blog, I’ll listen to The Adventure Zone for the billionth time, because I have Too Much Attention. I’ve also, on request from Star, linked the most recent “loop song”.— mod aster

I tend to obsess over the same like 3 songs every few weeks so those get listened to on repeat but it also depends on the tone of what im drawing or who im drawing i might genre switch bc of that. If im drawing ophelia i stick to lana del rey and if im drawing hamlet its the neighborhood, horatio is sufjan stevens etc. i have categorized,. Most of the characters i draw into different songs/genres/energies of music but not like i ever follow that. Sometimes i just pull up a really long nonsense video and forget to draw. It’s mostly determined by like. How we choose per story? If that makes sense. Like, we just take story by story, and decide “is it happening, has it happened, and when?” And then we fit them together in relation to each other just by dint of. All existing at once. Like, I knew I wanted Macbeth to be in aftermath, because like, even though there’s no murder, the way I’ve translated it to the AU is still kinda heavy, and it’s something that I don’t know that I could do properly if it were happening right now. Also, it’s more interesting IMO to have them at different times. Tl;dr we wing it per story and slot them together— mod aster (mod star agrees I just can word better, in theory)

If you could tell the story of shakespeare high in a different format than an ask blog, would you? Obviously y'all are making very good use of the format, but would you want to write this as a animated series or like? a comic book? or is the form inseparable from the story? (@pedanticlecturer)

I kinda wanted to do a webcomic or maybe to plot develop through like, animatics but the element of surprise comes from the asks we get and really makes us think so the blog is a good start. We didnt think we’d get this far -- mod star

Pretty much what Star said— there are certain elements where it’d be neat to do as a comic or as an animatic. Like, the fantasy dream is like, an anthology webcomic of each story, where you can like, see other characters in the background and stuff. But to be honest, we develop a lot by what we’re asked— there was a post about developing worldbuilding by being asked questions and then pretending you’ve thought about the answer, and it’s not far off. Personally, it’s hard to just lay out a story, because I have a whole WORLD and what’s relevant? What are people interested in? It’s by getting questions that I can then focus in on an area to develop. And yeah, we Super didn’t think we’d get this far lmao — mod aster

1. how long have i known about them

I first read YA towards the end of 2016/beginning of 2017 so uhhh I’ll say 2 years? Since YA was the first comic I’ve ever read and he was in vol 2 obviously.

2. whether or not they’ve ever made me cry

out of joy. because he’s beautiful. and has a great heart. and i love him.

3. whether or not i have any merchandise/objects with them

I own comics from the new mutants series he originated from, and I have one of the arcs he’s a main character in

oh my GOD where do I start. So he’s like dorky but in an adorable way and genuinely SMART like despite his power he works really hard to learn things and he LOVES HIS FAMILY SO MUCH IM GONNA CRY. He’s over 6 foot and he acts like someone who is 6 foot would act except its not obnoxious. Like he CARES SO MUCH AND IS SO SELFLESS AND HAS THIS BEAUTIFULLY WARM ENERGY TO HIM LIKE HE SMILES AND WEARS SHORT SLEEVES AND MY HEART IS MELTING ugh god I’m embarrassing myself I’m gonna stop.

He loves his family so much and he had a whole life planned out ahead of him and he like. Didn’t go to his dream college. And because of his power he felt constantly set back in his education and worked hard and studied until his power didn’t make a difference because he genuinely cares so deeply IM GONNA CRY AGAIN

6. the moment of theirs that made me the saddest

I think that moment he’s talking to patrinot and he just kinda realizes that he’s going to become patrinot and be a pawn to fate in order to ensure that Billy becomes a god and he just. Accepts it. Because Patrinot truly is the opposite of everything David really is and stands for, and to just take in stride this information is just so. David. And to know what will become of his goodness is just inherently heartbreaking.

7. the moment of theirs that made me the happiest

I think that moment in original sins where David admits he outsmarted everyone in a way that wasn’t harmful to anyone really so he could learn more on how to save people. It just was really great to see how smart David is and how instead of being a mad scientist stereotype, all of his deeds that require his brain just show his inherent goodness and desire to help others.

8. something about them that made me laugh

Sometimes he’s so cutely dorky about things he’s curious about it makes me laugh. Like in original sins when he was upset he couldn’t hang out on Noh Varr’s ship because he thought it was cool, my heart felt like it was gonna burst out of love.

HE LOOKS SO COMFORTABLE AND SOFT!!!! I LOVE HIM!!!

In all honestly? The panel where he says he’s bi. Everything around that scene is mostly garbage but like, the fact that he said the words “I’m bi” always gets me excited whenever i do a reread of ya. It also makes me think of all the moments since he realized he was bi before he said it out loud, where he was coming to terms with his sexuality and how he’s come to accept himself. It makes me really proud of him and how far he’s come.

11. my favorite relationship they have with another character

Okay we all know I’m the biggest thinkfast loser on the planet, like I don’t even think there are words to properly describe how much I love their dynamic, but his friendships with America and his fellow x kids.....are so valuable and basically they have rights.

I like it when he’s snarky, or when he’s described as like, the only person with his shit together, cause like he doesn’t have his shit together but I’m sure he’d like people to think he’s not a lowkey mess.

People that think David is some sort of predator for kissing Teddy.....I won’t even get into it it’s just obviously wrong and it gets me so angry

I like that he has this good relationship with his little sister. Kim and David are such good siblings and we never get to see them interact anymore.

Okay listen: I’ll stand by the fact that David realistically would’ve never kissed Teddy because the only times David has ever gotten involved in relationship drama was when others started it and dragged him into it, but regardless of that, I genuinely do not think Teddy is David’s type, like Teddy is basically the opposite of Nori and you know what I have a problem with it. You gonna make David make a bad decision because you can’t write realistic drama then AT LEAST have it be with a character that he would typically LIKE. This isn’t the most important part of the whole David Teddy drama but you know what I’ve said everything else before I might as well say something new

Scene; Library

The girl who comes to meet hhim at the same library every saturday morning at 9:45 am is 23 years younger than him. They started this freindship a few weeks ago, they tumbled into each others lives.

He was a 38 year old man with an unknowingly failing marriage and the same goes for his career. He comes to the library to find peace and quiet, and find comfort among the books. He is a teacher and teaches at a private catholic highschool a few miles away. This is a main library and a big librarby would be a understatement.

The girl comes to the library to find peace and quiet. She enjoys the smell of a book and likes how you can get a cup of whipped cream for 0.75 cents in the cafe on the main floor. She comes to the library on the bus and finishes her homework, watches films, and reads book to escape the inpending reality that she isn’t ready for life. She has the necessary skills to live independently but she dosen’t have a career plan or a career, because honestly that bores the fuck out of her. The library is the escape form school, home, and all the other bs in her life that results in alot of stress and freakouts between her and her mom. She has a big family and is expected to do things that a traditional woman should.

They tumbled into each others life as if it were meant to happen, for a couple weeks he and her timidly spied on each other . She would take a peak then roll to the next bookcase as if she were a spy on a secret mission. He would spot her alone on the cafe patio, she was listening to music while drinking coffee and reading a book.

They started talking to each other when the girls friends older sister wanted the mans phone number. Like a fucking robot she took action, she swiftly left and approached him (like how alysssa did to james in the end of the f***ing world). She asked him now his day was, and is the seat was taken, She took a glance at the group of her friends at the window behind the bushes. He was grading papers.

Before she could explain her situation he dismissed her and asked is she was partaking in some kind of dare, a teenager game. She said no and unknowingly took offense. He seemed like a strong moral man he was tall, but his eyes and soul seemed sad. He was like a moutain. He appeared big like a moutain, but he fell short in some areas that were important. He has erosion, cliffs about to fall, huge rocks on the edge. He may appear a big one, but he is hollow and lets the river affect him immensly, he could easily tip and crash.

She found the same thing in her mother, yet she wasn’t as affected by those around her.

She ended up changing the subject to the papers he was grading, and his day, on any normal occasion he would have said no or how he was too busy for this but ... he needed any social time he could get.

Him and his wife had recently had a child, he was 2 years old. Slowly they are relizing how wrong they were. They rushed themselves, they loved each other immensly, they had this fire in them, but like all matches they burnt out. They rushed this idea of having child like it was theirs, they thought it was their idea, but it was their parents and no he feels like he can’t escape becuse now he was a child. He wife is starting to grow bitter, she drinks a bit more and goes out a bit more everyday. Once he husband starts to talk about the girl he met at the library midway throught the story she grows jealous.

She grows on him , and this sprouts a friendship between the two of them. They read passages of books they find intriging to another. He likes her personality because she is like a foutain of youth and makes him forget that he has as much responsibilities. They both escape through the library. She like his company, beacuse he dosen’t have raging hormones like the boys at her school, the man respects her , askes about her day and he is like a bridge to her. The man is like a bridge from adolessent to adulthood. He is her light in the dark, and she is like his personal foutain of youth . This platonic relationship of friendship is showing how both generations can benefit form one another.

She shows him funny dance moves and memes, tiktoks, and dont laugh comps. He tells her stories of his past, and wisdom by giving her advice on her weekly dilemas. They always have something to give one another on each session they have, its like a weird ass therapy session in a way. They help one another, its like a friendship at first, then evolves into a father daughter one in time.

I want there to be a scence where both of their families are affected by their friendship. Shes affected hes effected. Her live becomes better, becauses he sometimes gives her his bus cards, so she can afford other things. One night he allows her and her siblllings to crash on his couch and living room, beause they don’t feel welcomed in their own.

He is effected me their friend ship, because he finally realizes how toxic his family is and how manipulative, and angry they made him. He buried his past, but now his coming out from the dead and pullling him into hell. At first its as if the girl turned his life to hell, but its his awarness that does, He was never suspicous of his family, he didn’t question his mother, his siblings or his wife for that matter. I want to do a scene where he relizes how fucked up his family is .

A pool scene, where his older brother says a dirty joke about the girl, and his wife begans to degrade her while on her last glass of wine. This automatically esccalates. The kids started to stay at his place during the school break. The girl feels like she has more control in her life. and the man feel like his life and barely begun. He feels anxious on how to live out his life now with his child, but they have their friendship of a lifetime and this lasts throughout all the hardship they face.

I want them to be in a scene like the one in GoodWill Hunting where the professer asks if hes ok and increases the intensity by taking a step forward and repeating the phrases. By the time that the distance is closed he is crying on hsi shoulder and asking why was he treated like he was and old wounds open up and shows his vunerbility and emotional side.

As children were encouraged to not show emotion and this rips us form our true nature and leaves us bottled up for our whole lives. In a scene live this i want it to delicate that descend to heartbreak and sadness. I want there to a switch in the power dynamic, i want to shed the curtain of toxic masculinity, he dosen’t want to become his brother or his dad. He was shed of emotion at a young age and has kept it bottled up for years. He falls to his knees and lets the old wounds come out and cries, he just cries his heart out. He only cries with this girl because she has no expectations of him, she creates a safe place for him, she allows him feel vunerable.

She acts like a mother to him, by creating a safe place for him and giving him her shoulder. She dosen’t want to become like her mother so she has more qualities than most kids her age have. She wants to be the person she needs when she was younger.

And he acts like a father to her, he helps her feel protected, secure, powerful. He makes her feel like she can rely on a person, he tells her its gonna be alright. He get her food and helpe her sibllings. He helps ehr grow her character and tell her anout kids these days and what it means to be a actual person.

B99 and The Good Place

YES. THANK YOU!!!! I LOVE THE GOOD PLACE AND BROOKLYN 99 SO MUCH. AND NOBODY EVER WANTS TO TALK TO/WITH ME ABOUT TGP. I made my friend watch it with me just so I could talk about it with someone lol. Also because it's just a genuinely good show. (Next up I'm gonna make her finish iZombie with me too, haha.)SO! For B99Favorite Main Character:Its gotta be either Rosa or Jake. You know I'm in love with both Andy Samburg and Stephanie Beatriz. (especially Stephanie Beatriz, *dreamy sigh*)Fun fact! My favorite side character is Kevin. Whether it's in B99, The Good Place, or on the Thrilling Adventure Hour, I love the deadpan humor of Marc Evan Jackson. He is, after all, a naughty bitch ;p. Favorite Female Character:Oh, for sure this goes to Rosa Diaz. I love her so much and Stephanie Beatriz plays her to absolute perfection. it's so cool to be able to see such a badass lady cop on TV, who both plays to and subverts the typical Strong Silent Badass™ trope. Rosa is from a cooler world than any of us.OTP:I know it's a boring answer, but it's gotta be Jake and Amy. From the jump their relationship was built on mutual (if, admittedly at first, somewhat begrudging) respect and trust. They were friends, which is so rewarding to see. There have been couples like that on TV before, but usually it's all a lot of 'will they, wont they- which can be fun too if done right, like seasons 1 and 2 did -but it's refreshing to see it played in such a different way. Jake just straight up told her and didn't expect anything to come from it. He didn't pressure her to like him back and he didn't even hate on Teddy (until he got all weird and creepy in later seasons, and even then he was polite) while he was dating her. He respects her and treats her well and I will forever remember the scene where he tells everyone why/how he decided to propose to her, it was perfect and truely sweet. Jake and Amy make each other better. He helped her to loosen up a little and compromise without getting rid of her take- charge, eager-to-please attitude or her independance, and in turn she made him into a (slightly) more mature person. Amy helped turn Jake into a (somewhat) functional adult, but she didn't force him to lose his fun, childish side either. They genuinely care for each other in a way that you dont often get to see on TV between Het Couples. Like the episode where Amy takes the Sargent's exam and Jake says he always knew Amy would be his boss one day? HE RESPECTS HER SO MUCH. Almost any other sitcom would have Jake's arc for that episode be about him feeling insecure at the thought of his future wife being his boss, but B99 didn't and I love them for it. Their love is so sweet and believable. I even teared up a little during the wedding scene because I'm an absolute sap like that. I also really, really like the chemistry between Rosa and her potential new girlfriend Alicia (as played by the also amazingly beautiful and talented Gina Rodriguez.) They had immediate chemistry- which I'm huge on -and Alicia seems like a genuinely cool and sweet woman. Anyone who can make Rosa lose her composure in front of people she cares about has gotta be something special. I'm hoping in the next season NBC will let them bring Gina Rodriguez back and she and Rosa will become TV's gayest and most dynamic power couple. That would be pretty sweet. Sorry that this has turned into Rosa and Jake fest. But if it helps, Holt and Kevin are definitely couple goals too and I'm glad Kevin'sgetting so much more screen time. I agree with Jake: I also want them to be my two gay dads. Not that I dont love my dad, I'm just welcoming in the extra role models, lol. Lord k ow I probably need it.NoTP:I love that the show steered away from it, because I wasn't really much a fan of the Boyle/Diaz Dynamic of season 1. But, I do honestly love them as bros together. It's another trope the show subverts since Charles is the one who's super in touch with his emotions and helps out Rosa in her relationships when she has trouble expressing hers. I just... I really love relation/friendships built on trust and respect. It's my jam.Favorite Other Pairings:I know she's not your fave but I do like Gina and Rosa together, they have a fun, snarky vibe together and Gina does genuinely care for Rosa and respect her opinions, way more than she does with most other people. Except maybe Holt. Also Amy and Rosa. I love episodes where the two of them team up together. Basically, what I'm saying here is that I just want Rosa to date ALL the girls on the show, haha.Least Favorite Character:I hate to say it, but I want a huge fan of Pimento? Like, he was dangerous and rude and I know he went through a lot of trauma undercover, but dude needed some help, and I mean just that, really. He needs to be in therapy for his PTSD because it's affecting his relationships and his whole life.I'm not too big a fan of Hitchcock either, just because like... Okay, so, Scully is dumb and occasionally rude, but at least he tries to be nice most of the time and even tries to contribute; Hitchcock is... kind of a jerk most of the time? I know that's the point, but still... like, fix yourself my dude.Also, I do really love to hate The Vulture. He's insufferable, but his dynamic with the team and their hate for him is so much fun to watch. Of course when I say least favorite, I still like these characters, it's just that if I had to pick, it would be these three.Favorite Season/Episode:I actually really like this past season a lot. Like, so much happened! ROSA CAME OUT! JAKE AND AMY GOT MARRIED! HOLT AND KEVIN GOT QUALITY SCREEN TIME AS A COUPLE! It was pretty amazing.I love the episode where Rosa came out to her parents. It was so sweet ♡ and I think it's really important that it ended in such a medium place. Like, that happens to people sometimes other TV shows, sometimes parents dont either accept you wholeheartedly or kick you out and denounce you. Sometimes, you just get stuck in a crappy in between place (note: not deflection btw, my parents are cool with my identity, but I has happened to people I know and it sucks watching them try and get through it without sacrificing the relationship between them and their parent[s]). And we never get to see that because TV likes to focus on the extremes. And Rosa found out that you can find your own family if you need too. Which, as you know, I am always up for in my media. Found family tropes for everyone!Who Would I Date:I mean... look how many times the words Jake and Rosa have come up in this post. In your heart of hearts you know the answer to this question.Rosa (whom I have to separate from her actress because I love them both, and for different reasons) would be a little hard to date for me, just because she's so closed off and sometimes ya girl needs some validation of affection. But she's so...so cool. She does the right thing, even if she'd rather hit the problem in the face with an axe, and I know she's a police officer but it still counts, damnit. She has all these layers to her, like the dancing and the gymnastics and stuff. She doesn't reject traditional femininity, it just doesn't appeal to her. Also I bet she'd make anyone feel hella safe. She's... honestly the best word I can come up with right now is dreamy. Rosa Diaz is a Dreamboat with a capital D, and I'm sorry, but if you dont think so you're wrong.Jake is kind of the polar opposite. The only thing I would see becoming a hypothetical issue in the hypothetical relationship is that I can also be immature and messy and garbage at being an adult. We'd be too similar and it wouldn't help anyone, unlike with Jake and Amy. But he's so sweet and caring and funny. He's a genuinely great guy who respects everyone who deserves it, and sometimes even people who don't. Plus he's definitely a good cuddler and I like being the big spoon, so that would work out well for us.----------------------As for The Good Place:(WARNING! Spoilers for The Good Place are below, so if you're asking me but haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend skipping this until you do watch it, because I don't want to spoil anything for you. It's that good.Favorite Main Character:How, actually, do you choose on this? How?!? I love them all so much, truly. Chidi is a nervous smol (though also very tol) beanpole. Eleanor is always a Mood™ and she shows so much growth over the course of just 2 seasons (same with Michael, but that'smore over the course of 1 season. I'llgive him a pass though because it was entertaining as hell when he finally realized the concept of mortality). Jason became so much more lovable and sweet in season 2. Janet is my favorite omniscient NonBinary robot ever. And Tahani is, to quote Eleanor directly, "A sexy, tan rapunzel. The dream." Plus, she really knows how to go all out with something, which is fun. I loved how into her role as Rhonda Mumps she got. Plus, watching her tell off her parents was so good.I think I'm gonna have to go with Either Chidi Eleanor or Janet. That's as much as I can narrow it down though, because I am weak.Favorite Female Character: Well, since Janet is not a girl, but instead- as mentioned above -an omniscient NonBinary robot person, I'll go with Eleanor. I think I just really relate to her character. Which means I should probably shape up my life, lol. But it's so nice to see a smart, funny, unladylike and kinda sleazy character, who ultimately has that heart of gold and a desire for self-improvement played like this by a woman as a main character. She's like the likeable, morally gray sidekick in so many romcoms, but she gets to be the focus for once. I dig it. Also, I tend to flock towards bi-coded characters. Have you seen Eleanor's collection of flannels (Janet could literally get her anything to wear, but mah girl craves that bi aesthetic)? Any of her interactions with Tahani? That girl is bi af, if not pan. OTP:Oh, for sure it's Teleanor (Elhani?). Like, the chemistry between Jameela Jamil and Kristen Bell is so thick. They're so good together! And I swear if I dont get a flashback to attempt #218 at some point I will cry. 2nd OTP is Chidi/Eleanor because a) they're super cute together, B) they make each other better, and C) LOOK MA, ITS AN INTERRACIAL COUPLE AS THE MAIN FOCUS OF A SITCOM WHERE THE POC IS A DUDE! I've heard tell of it in legends but never seen it before in real life! I joke, but seriously, it is neat to see.Runner up: J² (aka Janet & Jason). What can I say? I'm a sucker for cute, oddball couples who shouldn't work but ultimately do.NoTP:I wasn't very keen on Tahani/Jason. Like, it was a fun distraction, and it did lead to the scene where Tahani tells her parents she ate a cheeto, and it also gave us some much needed Janet screen time/character arc stuff, but they just didn't work for me as a couple. I think, though, that that was kind of the point? Like, they needed to make that mutual mistake together so they could get to where they needed to be. Jason grew up a bit and learned to problem solve and Tahani gained confidence and the personal growth she needed to tell off her douchey parents.Favorite Other Pairings: Is it weird to say Shawn/Michael? I feel like it is, but I would still read it. Also maybe Janet/Eleanor. That could be fun.Least Favorite Character:This is slightly less tough than the questions above, but if it came down to it and I had to pick, I'd probably say it's pretty much just amounts to a few of the characters that the show designed for me to hate.Figuratively, everyone in Tahani's family is a garbage human being. And not in like, the fun, likeable way that say Eleanor or Jason were 'garbage people,' but in the awful, 'I would gladly punch you in the face' kind of way instead. Same goes for Eleanor's parents and her roommates (Though the one who remained her friend after she switched up everything in the season finale was okish in S2, what little I saw of her). It's super weird, but I actually do like the demons for the most part. Shawn is amazing to watch, which I, in large part, chalk up to Marc Evan Jackson's performance. And I even liked Vicky and Trevor, in that same, The Vulture from B99 sort of way. So literal demons are more likeable than the characters mentioned above, which should tell you something.Favorite Season/Episode:Season 1 was amazing and that first Cliffhanger twist was wild and awesome and I didn't figure it out until about 30 seconds before Eleanor did because it was so good, but it wasn't just a twist for the sake of it either, like, the season was built around it and makes sense with it, which is really cool to see in a sitcom. HOWEVER, all things being equal and with that said, Season 2 was EVEN BETTER SOMEHOW?!?! they ditched the formula and changed it all up! It's a sitcom! They never do that! And they only spent like what, 1 to 2ish episodes replaying the new attempts? And they focused on some of the Bad Place characters too while they were doing it, so it didn't get boring. That could have so easily happened too, if it hadn't been handled as well as it was by the writers. But it was handled well and they kept changing things up and giving us more info on the characters lives and their deaths and all that good juicy character development stuff I love so much and it was so, so worth watching.Episode wise, season two had my favorite episodes too, starting with the big neighborhood-ending party and all the way up to the finale (the episodes before then were also great, obviously, but that run towards the end had me captivated so thoroughly I almost called in sick to work to finish them, haha.)The stuff where they infiltrate The Bad Place was golden. If I had, had, had to pick a single episode... yeah, nope, I'm still not able to because it comes up a tie between the one where they leave the neighborhood behind or the finale. There was so much good character stuff, and lots of little found family type moments and Mindy even got a little bit of a reward at the end! (Side note: something deep inside of me loves Mindy St. Claire so much and wishes I could have more of her confidence and fuck it attitude). The demons were hilarious and Judge Gen was a delight to watch! This show is just so good, it makes me want to cry a little. Just a bit. I'm so excited for season 3!! Less than a month left yeah! ♡Who Would I Date:It would probably come down to either Janet, or Eleanor. Tahani has potential, but she's too...aristocratic to actually date for me, I think. Chidi would be an amazing partner, but I feel like we're both such anxious people that it would quickly become an unmanageable tornado of stress and bad decision making, lol.Janet would be cool because she's weird and fun and chipper and so sweet, plus she has all the knowledge in the universe which is neat. I do love a smart cookie. And with Janet since I'm more demi/ace-ish and since she doesn't have sex parts, that would take a weight off my mind I think. So check off 'would date a self-aware, omniscient robot' on my list of weird character traits.Eleanor would also be a good candidate too because she's relatively down to earth and laid back, as well as being fun and relatable and just... kind of a cool chick. Plus, I know deep down she actually does care about things and is a decent human being, which is sort of a must in a partner, lol. The only drawback is that we might make each other worse because we'd probably let each other get away with a lot, so it might be somewhat counterproductive to the point of the show, haha. ----------------------Thank you so much for asking these! And for letting me rant and rave over my two favorite sitcoms in what has, apparently, turned out to be a fucking essay on 'Things I love about Brooklyn 99 and The Good Place'. Sorry I got so verbose about it. I'm also sorry that I, as a person, always fail so completely at making choices and narrowing things down, lol. But this was fun! Hopefully you've seen TGP, I'd absolutely hate, hate, hate to spoil such an excellent and surprising show for someone. Assuming you have, I'm gonna run over and ask you about this one too. GJASFJKASFHJKFSA YES. while in space, she probably becomes my new best friend, since my current one is back down on earth and god knows whats going at back at earth (we have a very emotional reunion). you know those people that you’ve heard of and known as an acquaintance, but when you finally start talking, you immediately click and become friends? yea, that’s me and pidge.

ever since i came out as, y’know, nonbinary, she’s been just fiercely “protective” (i guess?) of me whenever someone gets my pronouns wrong or makes fun of me. and it kinda comes from me being really protective of my friends (aka mom mode). but either way, it’s just a goofy and supportive friendship.

How do they support you when you’re down? With advice, emotional support, both, or are they a bit awkward and neither?

since pidge isn’t too great with emotions (ironic since i’m so sensitive and emotional), she probably just lets me rant and vent to her, and afterwards just tries to hug me and give some advice as best she can. she’ll be a little awkward at the beginning, but as time goes on, she gets way better at this kinda stuff.

How did you meet, and when?

well. i’d like to think we know each other from the garrison, but the night we left was when we officially met. i was stressed, so i snuck out to the roof and was watching the stars, listening to some music when someone suddenly tapped me on the shoulder. it turned out to be pidge and we started talking until lance and hunk interrupted us and then.. y’all know.

Do you ever do dangerous or illegal things with them?

fuck. no. ….okay maybe dangerous but not illegal. she definitely would drag me to get out of my comfort zone a little bit, but nothing that i would be extremely uncomfortable with. she knows my limits :3

What kinds of presents do you get them?

i try and stray away from making pidge little gadgets, etc but like. more personal gifts. when we’re still in space, i find a small blank journal at the space mall and behind pidge’s back and with hunk’s help, fill it with little alien flowers from the planets we visit!! when i give it to her, she starts crying because she’s never had a gift so thoughtful and then i start crying ajsfkjfsa,,

What was your first impression?

i thought that pidge was just the cliche smart kid in class, and pidge thought that i was that cliche shy artist kid (which, i kinnnnda am in a way ??)

What’s their dynamic with your romantic f/o, if it applies?

DBAJHFJFA when me and lance first got together, pidge just basically pull him aside, said “FUCKING FINALLY!” and warned him not to break my heart. even though they’re garrison buddies, pidge will not hesitate to break him if he breaks my heart. (lance needed lotsa cuddles after that asjkjfsk)

How protective are they of you?

if that wasn’t clear enough above, pretty protective. she knows how i am and how easy i break, and like above, will not hesitate to hurt someone. this girl is a smol ball of fire.

What kind of outings do you usually go on/What do you like to do together?

the way we usually hang out is her teaching me about technology and how to code basically, or me teaching her about drawing, or we’re talking about our doggos and families back on earth and then when we’re both kinda tired, we talk about philosophy and “what if” questions. i like talking about that stuff. it’s interesting to see what kind of answer you’ll get.

Are they the kind who borrows your stuff and forget to give it back?

probably. but as long as it’s not something thats important or i really need, i’m okay with it.

HM. i feel like she’d steal one of my oversized sweatshirts one day and i would notice and try not to make a big scene because !!!! she’s wearing my sweatshirts and i love how smol she is!!

Do you play pranks on eachother?

i feel like pidge would play some on me (PIDGE PRANKS) occasionally, but like, harmless pranks. sometimes she scares the shit out of me though and she teases me about it later on. she’d also rope me into playing pranks on the others because, hey, that’s what best friends do.

pidge and i would try, but i’m really clumsy and forgetful, so we just end up doing something else.

How do they act when someone insults you?

the same as lance would. she’s insulted herself. appalled. how could anyone ever insult me?? why would anyone insult me?? they’re the purest person here??? excuse u????

How do they act when YOU insult you?

kinda like ??? doesnt really get my self-deprecating humor at first until she confronts me about it. but then just like. pinches me whenever i make a joke like that, to help me get out of that habit.

3 AM REVELATIONS AND MEMES AKFJJSAKF,, she would so send me the bee movie script at 3 am just to fuck with me.

What kind of advice do they give you?

well. uh. the beginning of our friendship, basically like. bad. once our relationship progressed, however, and we got to know eachother more, she started giving me advice similar to mine. for instance, “calm down. step back a take a breather when stuff gets tough.”

oh GOD !!! probably like, danced around and sung really annoyingly. embarrassing for me, funny for pidge (she secretly recorded it and is going to use it for blackmail)

probably calls me #5, since i’m barely taller than pidge. or even “plant dog” because i was trying to say something along the dog plants or some shit like that. i also tend to call her #6, or pi.

literally how to build something small. or just. remove a virus from my computer bc she’s sick of me getting viruses everywhere akslfjajskf
