I haven't talked Stalkyoo - or even ILY, period - in a LONG while here on tumblr and a lot of it had to do with the funk I was going through, the lack of energy I had and the inability to really gather my thoughts and force myself to be cohesive enough to actually put them down, but like I said, I've felt myself coming alive again, and with that, I've found myself falling back into my comfort zones of picking at ILY and the themes I love, the parallels, the juxtapositions, and yes, all the minute details that make Stalkyoo so special, what it is about them within the constraints of their universe that is so appealing.
We all know I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about the purpose the Shinlyssa flashback serves, especially in serving to illustrate just how deeply Nol has hurt Shinae in doing to her what Alyssa had already done before, and why it's so significant that she is willing to forgive him and let him go at that time. As the story moves on from that night, we know that flashback inserted at that pont serves to help us better understand the things Alyssa doesn't reveal - the implication that she lives in an abusive home, that she is gay, that her desire to be popular is more about filling a psychological unmet need to be loved - as we watch her arc set up for the post-time skip second season.
But crucially, the flashback reinforces that Shinae fell for Nol for the same reason he fell for her: he made her feel special.
Shinae's trauma about her past with Alyssa, head injury aside, was that she didn't understand why. It was that Alyssa was special to her but she felt like Alyssa cast her aside, like the feeling wasn't mutual. Even regarding Rika and Maya, until she finally talked things out, she felt like she was just... there, that she didn't mean anything. Her mother left and took her sister and then what. Never calls, never writes, not even birthday cards or even a postcard??? Of course a child will feel like she was discarded, the unwanted one!
Shinae is so used to feeling like she is replaceable, easy to toss away and forget about, not worth a second thought or glance.
And then comes this earnest, handsome guy SO KEEN on getting under her skin, into her head, earning her friendship, and though it annoys her at first, he grows on her. She starts to VALUE it, his actions. She finds herself missing it when he changes and withdraws, aware of the change but uncertain of exactly what is different. As he pulls away she finds that she's the one doing the chasing now.
He made her feel like she's special. Like she matters. Like there is some kind of great value to her. How could she not fall for the person who made her feel seen when she was so used to blending in and taking up as little space as possible?
The juxtaposition of the Shinlyssa flashback set against Shinae and Nol's feelings finally bubbling to the surface is SO! GOOD!!!! Because Alyssa had such a lasting impact on Shinae! It was a ghost haunting her, following her into high school, clinging to her even when she met Nol. That hurt she carried, that scar she still hides, reminded her over and over how easy it was to discard her, how easy it was to throw her away.
And Nol proved to her (what we know to be true for Alyssa) that it isn't true, that she isn't, in fact, so easy to discard, that she is someone special, that she means something.
To insert the flashback that reinforces why Shinae believed herself so easy to discard on the cusp of Shinae and Nol's feelings for each other finally bubbling to the surface is to reinforce exactly how these two fell for each other in the first place: in the shadows where no one was paying attention, they saw each other, and they cared.
And GOD it's so SO SO beautiful 🥺🥺🥺🥺😭💕

shirahama-sensei reminded me she has a thing for the teacher from pokemon s/v so i randomly went off on an au where qifrey is the professor. etc
#witch hat tag#orufrey#the first image is qifrey dressed as that guy. i'm glad she has an inexplicable attachment to some dorky pokemon man like i do#someone was like 'wouldn't it make more sense for deanreldea to be the champion' .... well no. not in my world .#it maps onto magic skill. champions aren't like the Rulers of the land they're just the most skilled at this thing#oru as a burnt out champion who's gently encouraging a kid like coco to reach him one day means a lot to me. i like pokemon narratives#agott went shiny hunting for the same thing coco had but cooler - just to impress her. she really is a pokemon rival type girl#pushing myself to the limit to prove my worth to you - to get to the summit first so i'm waiting for you..#and then realising it wasn't just to be strong - i realised i started wanting to see your smile. i wanted you to have fun.#i think coco would defeat agott at the end of victory road and then defeat oru & i'll probably draw one last thing abt that at least..#the image is very cinematic..the dialogue and music in my mind..I WANT TO FACE ORU!!!!!!!!!!#the super cool insanely powerful awesome champion is the spouse of my professor and he gave me advice at the beginning...no way....#btw the elite four would be the sages which is perfect (and maybe easthies as the first guy?) evil Team Brimhats#coustas as their renegade gladion-type figure. the gym leaders would be like sun/moon and s/v combined#travelling around facing the best students from different classes - so jujy and eunie etc.#i've barely thought about 'teams' or anything bc i care amore about the narrative side of things always lol#but idk. tetia with a swirlix - eunie would be ghost type boy - riche with small things but also a ceruledge or a steelix something massiv#and brushbug would have a final form which is really long like an eastern dragon- fluffy and with wings like a fairy. It's beautiful to me#well anyway *tries to move on to the rest of life now the brief obsession has passed*#obviously oru would be fire-type tho and qifrey would be water-type and they set off together and traded their starters etc.....it goes on

I don’t usually make posts like this, but I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-intellectual junk lately, and I really think we need to put the word “pretentious” up on a shelf until people learn what it actually means.
It doesn’t describe someone who likes artsy-fartsy deep meaning media. People who are pretentious are fake. They’re posers trying to be sophisticated and unique, not like other girls. They pretend to only like stuff they think will make them sound cool when they talk about it. They want to act like they know something you don’t, and they want attention for it.
By definition, if you genuinely enjoy something, you can’t be pretentious. If it resonates with you, and you analyze it, and you don’t care what people think, that’s the polar opposite, actually. If you love obscure experimental prog music, if you watch underground high concept indie films through English teacher eyes, if you spend hours in a modern art museum reading each piece as a vessel for storytelling, if your backpack’s full of poetry books that inspire you, if you play underrated games that were someone’s passion project, if you have an interest in studying the classics or the masters, you are not pretentious.
Of course, some people just don’t like some stuff, and that’s fine, but that’s not what this is about. Don’t let anti-intellectuals shame you for enjoying things just because your interests are inaccessible to them, because they refuse to be brave and put effort into critical thinking. You’re not stuck up for refusing to overlook the craft of artists.
#anti intellectualism#media#movies#books#music#critical thinking#my friend who primarily listens to one very popular band once said that people who listen to obscure music are annoying and pretentious#which rubbed me the wrong way because 1 she knows that I listen to obscure music and 2 it’s such a cowardly consumerist take. anyone can#make music and hey a lot of the people who do make GOOD music. and this goes for all *obscure* media#this post was mostly inspired by people talking about Barbie and those anti pick me girls like the pick nobody girls who insist thinking is#for boys and having fun with an empty brain is for girls. Greta gerwig is an artist. I haven’t seen the movie yet but I know it has a deeper#message than haha cute pink! I’ve seen the summaries about the true meaning. the pinkness and popularity doesn’t negate the narritive.#though in the notes I saw a lot of tumblristas comunistas shitting on the film for being one big ad that people *fell for* which tbh is#tbh almost as anti-intellectual. don’t get me wrong they milked this film to sell hella shit but I don’t believe kids who play with dolls#are the target audience as these people claim. Barbie is a culturally iconic symbol almost archetypical of societal expectations for women#you say barbie people think unblinking perfect plastic pink girly. reminds me of the poem The Last Mojave Indian Barbie. yeah yeah you all#hate brands but this one carries undeniable significance and makes for a powerful literary device. it’s been used many times before#sorry for writing a tag essay about a film I haven’t even seen but I’m tired of internet people focusing so much on proving others wrong#that they end up oversimplifying everything just as much as the other person. god I saw people doing this to Nimona saying transphobes were#looking too deep into her character and they’re reactionary clowns for making that jump. like for once the transphobes are right. she is#trans. it’s a queer story. and irl the first people who notice queerness are the bigots who can tell you’re different. sick owns telling#them the story’s not that deep is harmful and it’s like they’re ignoring the real message on purpose. okay enough rambling hehe! thanks#barbie#nimona

Okay so I recently, finally, watched Wish and I have some thoughts. Overall, not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but still has a lot of fundamental story problems and I've got to get them off of my chest. I'll mostly be focused on Magnifico because I think his motivations and arc largely represent the problem with the overall theme.
Okay so my biggest problem with Magnifico is his motivation. His tragic backstory. How on earth does he go from losing his whole family to thinking, the only way he can prevent that from happening again is to grant wishes? The logic doesn't track. It almost makes sense in his creating a kingdom where he protects everyone and "doesn't even charge rent," but it does not make sense with his wish granting. Having a great need to be control to make sure he doesn't lose anyone ever again can be a compelling motivation for a villain, where we see lines crossed that don't justify the intent, but in the movie, he's too self-absorbed to seem to have any actual care for the people of Rosas.
I think if the motivation was changed to something like Magnifico had once been a bright-eyed, enthusiastic wish granter who blindly believed all wishes were good but learned the hard way that that wasn't true could have been a better fit for the overall goal of the movie. Imagine that he granted a wish for a wicked person who used that wish to hurt others, or if Magnifico granted a wish but that wish ended up ruining the person's life because what they wanted wasn't what they needed (i.e. Remember The Princess and the Frog? Dig a little deeper) and that person could have went after Magnifico and blamed him for their troubles (harkening back to We Don't Talk about Bruno). This would be an understandable tragic backstory for Magnifico, and better explain why he's so careful about the wishes he grants. And, perhaps the reason he keeps the wishes he doesn't want to grant is to keep the people in his kingdom docile. No one will be angry with him for not granting their wishes if he makes them forget them and lose that drive and motivation, which makes more sense than the unexplained hording them like he does in the movie? Why does he keep them in the movie other than admiring the wishes? It doesn't make sense to me.
This would give Asha more of a reason to oppose him, if it's shown how his desire to not get hurt or to inadvertently cause hurt turned into a paranoia where he drains people of wishes to fly or play music that inspires others. And, as a side note, we need to see more of how Rosas is a kingdom of people who lack drive and motivation, where only those younger than 18 have that special part of them that inspires them to chase after a dream (something that Astor Rhymemaster touched on). Because that's the point of wishes, right? That's the point of the entire Disney canon. A dream is a wish your heart makes. That star can only get you so far, it takes hard work and determination. It's wanting something better in life, it's dreaming of leaving behind all you know to chase after a tangible light. It's finding a new dream, it's finding a new wish as you grow and learn about yourself and the world.
I don't think the movie Wish understood what makes wishes so important in Disney stories. You know what wishes do? They ignite change. It's not about getting what you want, it's about finding the courage to chase after something better. Ariel wants to be where the people are, but really she wants to be somewhere where others are willing to understand her and in the end, she finds that and makes amends with her father, who finally is willing to see her for who she is. Rapunzel wants to see the lights, and that desire pushes her to leave a tower she's been trapped in her whole life, learning that the world is not as cruel and cold as her abusive mother told her. Cinderella wants to go to the ball, to dance with people who treat her as a person and not a servant of cinders and ash. That wish is granted by a fairy godmother and gives her a hope that is worth fighting for, a hope that helps her reclaim what is rightfully hers; a glass slipper that fits only her and the love that comes with it.
Wishes inspire change. The movie should have been about that. Magnifico could have been right, that some wishes inspire negative change that can drag down multiple people. The kingdom of Rosas could have been so placid because change is scary. Maybe Magnifico could have convinced people, after taking their wish, that it wasn't worth it. Maybe the wish ceremonies could have changed so it wasn't portrayed as some sort of lottery everyone looks forward to, but Magnifico would grant wishes on the spot if he decided they were good and worthwhile, and he would lock away the wishes that would cause trouble and tribulations. 18 year olds could be enthusiastic to give him their wishes, thinking they were surely good and worth granting, only to forget their wish and be told that their wish would have only brought about their unhappiness, this would have justified a more solemn tone in the kingdom, setting up a world where people are mostly downtrodden, thinking their wishes are bad and pointless and they're better off without them. Imagine Cinderella or Rapunzel being told their wishes weren't good, reinforcing all the things their abusive families tell them, taking away that hope and courage to find something better for themselves.
Here's where the true conflict could come in. Asha could be onto this from the beginning, and her opening song could have been about this concern that the people who didn't get their wishes granted aren't willing to try at all. (Because, after all, why doesn't Sabino play music at all? Having that taken from him would take so much joy and creative expression from his life!) But why does Asha know something is amiss?
Simon.
Imagine that Magnifico has a strict rule not to ever share your wish with another person because then it wouldn't come true. It makes sense with our own superstitions, and then makes it so that no one knows anyone else's wishes. Maybe your best friend changes so drastically after giving up their wish, but you believe, like everyone else, that their wish would have only caused suffering. What can you do about it? Well what if Simon told Asha about his wish? What if Asha knew his wish wasn't dangerous and couldn't imagine a way that it could go wrong? That would give her a reason to doubt Magnifico and put more emphasis on how Simon has lost his drive like all the other adults in the kingdom. And it can also emphasize in the end that sharing your wishes and dreams with others can be a powerful thing. Just the act of sharing your dreams can inspire others to go after their own, and they can give you the encouragement to chase your wish too. Wishes inspire change, love gives you the courage to make it happen.
Imagine if the star boy used to be a human, who wished to help others and lost his humanity to do it. Imagine his wish confirms Magnifico's belief, that wishes cause suffering because star boy lost his tether to earth and is separated from the people he loves. Imagine how he foils Asha who also wants to grant everyone's wishes. Imagine him ensuring she doesn't make the same mistake he did while she gives him a reason to change again, to anchor himself to humanity again because he loves her enough not to leave for forever.
Imagine the movie confirming that, yes, change is scary. Chasing your dreams won't always make things better. You might fail more than you succeed and some wishes cannot coincide with each other, leading to grief and strife. But some wishes are worth it. Sometimes, chasing after something better and failing is worth leaving a worse situation. Sometimes taking that chance is worth it, and, like in all fairy tales, if you are kind and generous and act with love, that will make all the difference in the end.
Also, I know everyone wished for a Magnifico and Amaya evil power couple, but imagine if Magnifico was truly in love with Amaya, as he is in the movie, but that love is eventually his undoing. Like Amaya leaps in front of Asha, and Magnifico stops or redirects his attack because she's the one thing he loves more than himself and that is the weakness that Asha and co can take advantage of. Imagine Amaya keeping Magnifico in the mirror and he gets to dote on her from his imprisonment for forever. I'm just saying. At least 30 sickos like me would be into that. Imagine the depth it would give to the themes of love and change and wishing and how acts of love make all the difference.
Alright, I'll get off my soap box. I just really wish Wish could have been stronger because these fairy tales Disney is famous for matter. They really do. But the movie feels too stale and shallow and too much of a cash grab that knows the outline of a disney musical, but is unable to understand the heart of why they work.

Don’t piss off the person in charge of your meals.
Forget copious amounts of goron spice, if the chain really pisses off Wild they’re making either dubious food, rock hard food, or monster stew. What’s the rest of the chain going to do, cook a 5 star meal to avoid the purposefully icky food? No way, the most elaborate meal they can make is absolutely nothing compared to what Wild makes for them when he hasn’t been pissed off by them.

Inoichi's last moments haunt me to this day and age 'cause he really told Ino that he was the most proud of her "compassion and caring attitude towards her friends".
That's because:
Inoichi told her she embodied the Yamanaka will perfectly be as it reads from the flower language of their clan. After all, their family crest is the purple bush clover.
And I need to suppress my screaming but— Ino thought the flower meant optimistic love, okay? So she thought his dad was speaking of Sasuke. I can almost see how it could have become some nonsense moment of "you need to fight for the boy of your dreams and never lose hope" for a female character.
But it was not.
All along, the thing Inoichi was the proudest of was Ino's friendship with Sakura.
CAN YOU HEAR ME SCREAM NOW?!?!
In my opinion this moment is everything, because it shows that Ino was mistaken about what was expected of her, at least when it came to bloom into something worthy of the Yamanaka flower crest. She thought it was about a boy, that it was about romantic love, but it was not.
From the beginning she had been enough, worthy of her clan. She was as good as she was, loud and courageous and outspoken, the type of kid who would look at another girl being bullied, a girl full of bruises and mud and who shame, and would step in her favor.
Just like Shikamaru in the Forest of Death, Ino's dad knew what her most valuable bond (outside of her own team was). Clue: it was not Sasuke.

hi!! very excited about your next batch! but i was wondering if you ever think of posting some of the (wonderful) female!mav scenes you wrote (the question mark on my computer decided to stop working but this is indeed a question)
have a great weekend!!
yeah sure! again— this isn’t finished and never will be finished, I posted the reasons below. But here are a bunch of snippets from the fem!mav/lesbian charliemav AU from this summer. Would love to hear your thoughts, because politically it gave me some pause! lol.
1. On how mav survives (the central motif of the one-shot is Mav cutting her hair with scissors which is why the emphasis here)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. On ice (straight icemav will never work because fundamentally ice is a misogynistic cunt)
Tumblr media
3. on sex with girly girls (one of life’s greatest pleasures)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ehhh you get the picture of what’s under the cut
4. on charliemav
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. on charlie
Tumblr media
7. The end (post Layton mission [mav proving herself by saving ice’s life] and the end of TG86, Mav gearing up to cut her hair again in Charlie’s house)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and here, copy-pasted, were the tags i planned to affix to the charliemav one-shot, which I think explain also why I stopped writing it—maverick is insanely out of character here!
“some discussion of issues that would affect a female pilot in the 1980s in this one: SA, sexism, etc. u have been warned / i would love to talk to anyone about the politics of this one cause hoo boy i had to think about it / it’s a little personal to me too / i wouldn’t necessarily say i struggle with my gender identity but i do have a really complicated relationship with it / i think this mav is incredibly out of character / it turns out mav’s thoughtless overperformance of masculinity is so ingrained into his character that / if you make it intentional he/she turns into an entirely different character. / i often struggle with writing maverick way way too bitter (there’s something very gentle about tgm mav I struggle replicating) / & this is a VERY bitter & cynical & calculating mav as well. she has to be. But i fear i lose some of mav’s original character in the cynicism. 🤷🏽‍♀️ / that’s why i struggle writing AUs—you lose so much of the original characters who are DEFINED by the stories they’re from / if that makes sense. / i think a female maverick isn’t maverick. / you might as well be writing original fiction at that point. / this 1 shot is pretty much just original fiction. / idk would love to hear ppls thoughts on the fandom philosophy behind AUs / something i would love to think about more / top gun fanfiction / charlotte charlie Blackwood / pete maverick mitchell / Tom iceman kazansky/ nick goose bradshaw / genderbent top gun / charliemav / in this universe mav and Charlie break up and mav gets back together with Penny according to the tgm timeline btw / TGM mav might as well be a lesbian like nothing really has to change in the script at all. / post 2010 tom cruise just gives lesbian. no change necessary / soundtrack for this one is ‘I have a woman inside my soul’ by yoko ono”
I also stopped writing this one because I could not for the life of me figure out how to write goose, canonically a sexist just like mav and ice. made things difficult and a little awkward

You're gonna cancel me for this but Idc I've always been controversial....
Lila and Chloé are doing the "let's stop being rivals bc of a boy and be friends instead" much better than Marinette and Kagami. I know that Lila and Chloé don't feel that kind of love for Adrien but their friendship is built on unity and trust, the first two's relationship is so one-sided that I wonder why are the writers even acting this is a friendship.

PSA for feminine peeps (regardless of gender ID)
hey look at me. look at me directly in the eyes (or if you hate eye contact pick up a stim toy to focus). you do not have to have any "masculine" traits, not one, to be cool or redeemable or worth anyone's time. you can be the sensitive, weak one who loves animals and wears their emotions on their sleeves and dresses femininely and likes sewing and baking and sweets and the color pink and only girly movies and music; you can want to have or be around kids, you can be a family or romance oriented person, you can giggle and snort laugh over every little thing and cry over every other little thing, WITHOUT ANYTHING TO "BALANCE IT OUT" OR WHATEVER. you don't have to make up for it. what i'm saying here is that when people go "oh this person is weak and stupid because they can't fight or be strong", "this person is a baby they cry too much and just want everyone to be friends how stupid", "this person is shallow because they only care about romance", or whatever, and say they need masculine traits to make them a "real"/"interesting" person or character, they're being jerks. You have merit and you matter and your interests matter. You're not shallow. Being yourself isn't shallow. Loving what you love isn't shallow.
if you have masculine traits too, that's great!!! if you like masc stuff organically, that's pog!!! But if you aren't like that, don't force it!!! You are still a rounded person and your dreams and hopes and self expression are still beautiful and nuanced and worthy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know Hogwarts Houses are not the thing to do anymore, but I came across someone who called Nancy Wheeler a Slytherin, and my brain wouldn't rest until I figured out what she would actually be.
It's not that Slytherin wouldn't be a logical choice in some ways. Nancy certainly has a strong desire to prove herself and plenty of ambition. However, those things are not what drive her, what motivate her.
Nancy would think that she's a Ravenclaw. She highly values truth and knowledge, but it's a means to an end for her. It's not the end goal itself. Knowledge is important to her because of what it gives her, the power and ability to act, and to make a difference.
She is highly like Hermione in this way, but therein lies my reasoning for ultimately choosing Gryffindor. Nancy, for all her intelligence, can be the most reckless, dunderheaded ball of loyalty and courage in the world. She can be a straight-up battering ram when rules she usually respects get in her way. Her motivation ultimately ends up being centered on justice and protectiveness.
Her ambition comes from a desire to be someone who can make a difference in the world; who can be seen for who she actually is, but also just because she cares. She wants to help people, and she'll use any means she can think of to do so (legal or not, lol)
#hufflpuff also focus on loyalty#but Nancy’s brand of loyalty is more emotionally distant and more action based#than their type#she cares but she certainly isn't the cuddly let people in type#i actually think very few of the hawkins kids are Gryffindor aside from Nancy#so this isn't a they're all brave and therefore Gryffindor thing#dustin is 100% Ravenclaw#steve mike and will are hufflepuff#robin would be Ravenclaw#el... hmm maybe Slytherin#as weird as that sounds she's highly self centric focused just because of the way she was raised#she's not recklessly courageous or particularly friendship based#she cares about HER people and honestly thats about it#the boys are the ones who keep pushing her into the “Hero” role when she just wants to live her life#erica is 100% slytherin#lucas and max however a tricky#I could see them both as Gryffindors#lucas is the protector kind of loyal where as mike is the friendship glue kind of loyal#and max's upbringing taught her to value strength and the image of courage as a shield#she is loyal to any who prove their trustworthiness to her and will fight any monster that stands in her way#she's not out for truth and knowledge or ambition or power#just love#Jonathan is Ravenclaw#some people may be surprised by that choice when he is exceedingly loyal and brave#but look at what he's interested in when he takes photographs and think about how he limits his loyalty to his family and the few they love#he loves watching the world and dissecting it because he likes to understand things#not just to gain anything from it#nancy wheeler#stranger things#i do understand that my opinions on the characters are not the end all be all so if you have other thoughts and takes please share them

love this scene. usually we either see loras being very fake or very earnest, and it's really interesting seeing a combination of both.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
loras isn't an especially charismatic person. not that he's unpleasant or awkward, he will fake a smile and play sweet when necessary, but his facade is fragile. publicity stunts like making girls swoon by throwing roses at them may be useful to boost the knight of flowers™ brand, but giving some rando a flower and telling her she's pretty isn't something that requires social skills. so when he's talking one-on-one to that rando and she offhandedly mentions something sensitive, it becomes difficult for him to hide his hurt. he knows how to look sparkly in front of an audience but has never cared to get this personal with someone out of his inner circle - and well, he's never had to hide his feelings for them. i love this duality of pretense and sincerity and how specific it is to loras.

what's killing me about C'rizz is the fact that his death of his fiance affects him so much not only because of the obvios "he killed his lover with his own two hands", its the fact that L'da was the one person who took him away from the life of "killing for a good cause"!!! she was the one who made him realize that life has a better path for him!! that he is better then killing just because he feels its right!!!
so what ended up happening?? he had to kill her for a good cause!! the situation littiraly proved to him that he is back to where he started, that he is back to being a murderer while murdering the person who showed him a better life, fuck me

The plan of action in pursuing this particular He Who Remains Variant was simple: Amora would pose as a distraction, Loki surveyed the establishment for any of this particular Variant's henchmen and dispose of them and Mobius waited for him to cue an ambush of said Variant with an appropriate amount of Minutemen. Posing as an exotic dancer to gain the attention of a mob-affiliated millionaire was mere child's play for The Enchantress. And all was going swimmingly well, until the Variant called a few more of his men over to gawk at Amora.
Shifting a bit on his lap, she forced a smile and held out a hand in greeting, fighting back a gag when the opposing man bestowed a kiss upon the back of it. These men were armed with weaponry, though bullets barely phased Asgardian deities such as she and Loki, whom she couldn't help but take note of his ever-building envy as more men crowded around her. The multitude of hands on her bothered her more than she'd ever admit; she was used to men flaunting after her prowess and her beauty for eons, though not being touched by two at once. She merely played the part and waited until the Variant had his guard down so she could enchant him with a kiss Loki hopefully wouldn't see.
Though, that moment never came due to the onslaught of bodies hitting the brothel floors as the group of men, the Variant included, slumped over and Loki was the only one left standing, hurrying over to her and grabbing her arm. With a tug, she was off the Variant's lap and walking alongside Loki towards the exit of the establishment. She barely had time to process all of what had happened, though she yanked her arm from his grasp and demanded to know the absurdity of his actions. He claimed they were getting "too insistent" and could tell she'd been afraid. This, for some reason, angered her.
Tumblr media
❛  Afraid ? The Enchantress holds no fear, especially not towards Midgardian fools such as these. I had the situation under control, and I was more than nearing my opportunity to strike my target. I am no weakling, Loki. I am more than capable of saving myself.  ❜

Her mother will never say it outright, but Hachi knows who the favourite is between herself and her sister Emi, and it's been the latter by a wide margin ever since they were kids. If you don't spend a lot of time with the Takeuchi family, you might not put it together unless something was said that pinged on your radar, but if you're paying attention, it becomes pretty clear whose pictures are the most prominent on the walls, who receives impulse-buy gifts "just because", who has her successes extolled to the neighbours to impress them and who is explained with a short "she's doing fine" when asked.
Growing up, this came with a certain bittersweet freedom--Hachi was grilled less about the suitability of her friends and her extracurriculars, she wasn't the one her mother took aside to explain that studying at home with boys necessitated an "open door policy", she received less pressure to test high for better high schools, she had more time to herself after school--but Hachi is well aware that this is because her mother is just not as invested in Hachi's growth as she is Emi's. Emi, after all, is the one who returns the results she expects. Hachi just isn't putting the same effort in, isn't giving things the same focus they deserve. Of course, she feeds, clothes, and shelters Hachi all the same as is her responsibility--but you award successes, not just getting by--so isn't it only natural that Emi gets more when she gives more? Isn't that only fair?
