Sorry for a long post and my grammar, but this is something that i really need to get of my chest

After almost a year of thinking about it, i've come to a simple conclusion - despite my love for part 5, i do not like how Lupin's and Goemon's conflict ended.. Or at the very least im very confused by it. And here is why

Before i go into details about this, i want to clarify a few things

1. All of this is, obviously, my personal opinion. If you disagree - thats great!! I would honestly love to hear your opinion!!

2. I love part 5 and this conflict in it self. The moment when Goemon, after releasing what he had  done, rushes back to Lupin, throwing Zantezuken away, and desperately calls to him is beautifully heartbreaking! And the scene where Lupin encourages him to laugh after everything that happened is just beautiful!

However.. This same scene is basically the only conclusion that we ever get to this conflict. And this is just not enough. You may argue that this is the point - they've been through hell and back together, of course that would be enough for them! And i agree. I agree that the intention behind writing this scene the way it was written, was to show us that Lupin and Goemon are so close that they don't need lengthy discussions to understand each other and to forgive each other. But! If that's the truth.. why was there a conflict to begin with?

The problem with this ending is the fact that it addresses only that Goe attacked Lupin but not the cause of it, making it seem like the only reason for this was... "Enzo told him to!"

Wich is not the case

The reason for why i think that way is simple - even befor Enzo starts trying to manipulate him, Goemon declares, that he and Lupin are neither allies nor friends, wich outright suggest that his actions and insecuritys about beeing seen as Lupins underling or part of Lupins collection, are symptoms of a bigger issue.

Because up until this point.. there wasn't really much to suggest they aren't, not only in other season but in this one. Up untill this point Goemon trust Lupin with his plans, helps him whenever he can and just is in general.. acts like his freind, even if a little more silent then Jigen. One of the best examples is the scene where Albert injured Lupin and seeing this, even so Goemon clearly looks at him with rage and desire for revenge, he prioritizes saving his freind. Because Lupin is important to him.

And even better we can see the depths of his attachment to Lupin after Goemon hurts him in a fight. It wasn't what he wanted, it never was. What he truly wanted was to know for sure who he was to Lupin and if he was as important to him, as he himself is to Goe.

At least that's the picture all of part 5 episodes paint in my head.

And yet.. Goemon never gets the answer!! Lupin never reasures him, they never talk about there relationships, instead the focus of the story shifts to something else. And i truly dont understand  why! Part 5 puts alot of emphases on to human relationships and yet..  This conflict has alot of built up to it, be it in a form of this two acting like freinds, Goemon questioning if Lupin even needs him and Jigen or.. Lupin outright SAYING THAT GOEMON IS HIS FREIND ONLY TO NEVER REPEAT IT TO GOE HIMSELF WICH HE ACTUALLY NEEDED!!

And yet.. this just never gets addressed in the series...Wich makes me extremely sad, because Goemon's and Lupin's friendship is one of the things wich i like the most about "Lupin the third" and.. it just sad how it gets either neglected or dealt with.. like this in recent seasons

some details about one of my one piece ocs, Z here i should like draw proper ref of Z soon bc i think abt the little guy often. if i do talk about him more and draw him, i may just reveal his real name eventually

anyway theres really nothing happy about this boy from what i shared and i still have nothing happy. however the reason he even still holds onto life is because of books. he loves reading about adventures, whether the tales are from real journalists or something made up. it inspires Z to continue living on despite being chained down in hell

thats not what i actually wanna talk about, i just wanna talk abt something more lighthearted. while Z does appreciate all the strawhats, the ones hes most particularly fond of are luffy, nami, and robin

not that any of them told their stories, but that those four can really sympathize with Z. nami especially can relate with how Z believes he needs to shoulder everything himself to save his island considering hes only 13 enduring all this pain and suffering-- how he even refused to ask for the strawhats help until things were extremely desperate and that he had to accept that he really was powerless to do anything.

doesnt help that Z's "foster family" fed the strawhats too and how charismatic they are- Z thought that they were completely entranced by them so they wouldnt believe a word a bratty kid would say. and when Z felt completely helpless, he had pinned the blame on the strawhats and wished they never met bc things did go downhill for Z since his arrival

with robin, Z would talk about his favorite book and robin adores how he'd light up talking about it. not to mention him getting really excited when robin said she read the book before and gave him recommendations. (and as a parting gift, she gave Z a book she already finished reading. and it's about a kid his age starting their own adventure and writing everything about their exploits as they travel the world)

and with luffy, i'll admit was p hard to think about as hes not an easy character to write... but hes always been good w kids (AAAAUUUGJWHDIWHDK) and how theyve been inspired by him. what makes it harder to think about is how this kid has ace's face and acted similar to a younger ace. luffy felt a bit uneasy and Z just didnt like him at all. though theyre attracted to each other like magnets so kinda impossible to be separated without being pulled apart. when the strawhats went off to do their own things, luffy and Z somehow come across each other and it's like "stop following me!" / "you're the one following me!"

neither share what adventures they had and neither cared enough to ask. though Z was a little curious about who ace was and luffy bluntly says that theres nothing to know now bc hes dead. Z was about to pry bc ace had to be important to luffy but then again why should he care about this guy? he didnt care much about luffy and he was gonna leave soon anyway so they just left it at that. and as luffy gets distracted by a beetle on a tree trunk, Z suddenly disappears.

at some point though, luffy knew there was something wrong if Z couldnt just leave the place and people he claims to hate. and Z was startled by luffy's sudden interest in him and the island. he wasnt even sure if he could trust this pirate (esp when the 'rulers' were previously pirates !!) but he didnt feel ill intentions from luffy either so Z does tell him about the strict laws of the land which pisses him off gravely bc basically all of the people's freedoms are revoked and have to live a certain way if they wish to even live 👍👍

Z: "dunno why you're interested. you're gonna leave and forget about this hell of an island anyway. theres nothing you can do."

and again, Z cant trust others- especially not pirates. but the more time spent with the strawhats, the more respect and trust he gave. but he never once believed that they cared for him the same

putting this over here and not on my rp blog because i just feel more comfortable talking over here lately and because this isnt even BAD or me complaining, just saying a thing i noticed and being entertained, but i worry that people will think im being rude

theres like, this bingo card meme going around in my circles lately, where you make one for your muse, specifically of their "type" when it comes to romantic partners

so i make one for miranda, as you do, and i include a box on there that says "respects her sister", because. you know. a vital thing to miranda.

and its funny that all of the other muses who have marked that off are ones who neither i nor bellanda nor miranda would say COULD mark that off

namely because like. why is respecting bellanda so important?

because shes miranda's sister. and even more than that, she has been, for all of miranda's life, both her only friend and her caretaker. bellanda is one of those people that miranda trusts with literally EVERYTHING, and is wholly incapable of thinking bellanda can ever hurt her, let alone hurting bellanda in turn. bellanda's opinion is final to miranda, she is what matters above everyone else, and either her potential paramours accept that theyre always going to be playing second fiddle to bellanda or they leave miranda's life. so much of what miranda does is dependent on bellanda and she is basically everything miranda has.

which is important context, because the reason why not just any single person can mark off themselves as respecting bellanda, is because bellanda is going to be mean as hell to them. bellanda doesn't trust landfolk, very seldom trusts other merfolk, and is highly suspicious of ANYONE who tries to get too close to miranda. for very good reasons, sure, but also this means she is going to try to drive them away as much as she can without upsetting miranda. and like, miranda knows bellanda is doing this. she knows she will insult, berate, and even try to physically hurt people who bellanda perceives as a threat, and miranda knows why bellanda does this, and thus she will give bellanda a very loose leash. again, miranda takes bellanda's side in everything that matters, and her loyalty to her comes first before everyone else.

as you can imagine, this is not an ideal situation to be sandwiched between. you cant even really DO anything, because trying to do anything against bellanda immediately sours miranda's opinion of someone, and bellanda is never really going to do something she knows would be over the line for miranda. the only option is winning bellanda's favor, and thats a tall order when she already mistrusts and suspects them for a full list of potential manipulations and careless blunders that bellanda won't be sharing with them. shes tough, shes strict, and shes very set into what she knows to be true and whats allowed her and miranda to survive this long.

hell, it's why aaravi is one of the very VERY few people to do well with bellanda, because shes already used to people hating her and suspecting her. already knowing that out of the gate and knowing bellanda's type (from her own experiences with gruff older slayers), getting the reassurance from miranda that she actually is good and sweet and funny was enough for her.

but you see the problem still. you see why this is such a dealbreaker for so many muses. you see why its specifically phrased as RESPECTING bellanda, because if you dont fully understand why she has to do all of this and be this way, then you arent going to make it.

1.) HALLOWEEN SCHOOL THATS SPOOKY YES YES YES

when was a kid (one million years ago) i was Obsessed with the idea of Halloween Town and loved imagining all these stories about my version of it

imagined being a pumpkin headed scarecrow (legit my first self insert OC, before I know those terms) and hanging out with MY ghoul friends (werewolf, vampire, skeleton, ghost, the usual)

drew fanart for it and daydreamed about it all year long...

my neighbor, the kid i played most with bc neither of us had anyone else, liked playing animal uprising in barbie town and wasn't so keen on the spooks, so my desire for a funky creepy friend group VESTERED. like worms. or maybe maggots

It's so sweet.

Even before she turn out to be part werewolf, the feeling is, the students like her. They'd be happy to have her stay. There's a connection here even WITHOUT being a monster

like Draculaura and Frankie and Duce want to help Clawdeen figure out what kind of monster she might be SO SHE CAN STAY. the framing is, turning out to be a monster would be the EXCUSE for her to be here, with friends. The ones she already has, now

also i dont know why but it feels like this is one of the first times i've seen weregirls with leg and arm hair that has actual, noticeable, fur tufts. not just smooth with a fur coloring. this has Texture. these girls are HAIRY

Oh man... they are just two sweet boys who deserve all the good things in life. They think the world of, truly respect and admire each other. Best cousins fr,, I'm so glad they repaired their strained relationship and found something so meaningful to the both of them to bond over and be passionate about, giving them both so much confidence and new life. They're truly the sweetest, and support each other through thick and thin.

your ideal/headcanon version of it? how does it differ from how it is in canon & why is this your favorite version? any other alternate versions of it you enjoy?

Honestly canon is my ideal version. The miscommunication when Juza first joined Mankai and didn't want anyone to know they were related at first was frustrating, but given how emotionally constipated Juza was at the time and how low Muku's self-esteem was, it makes sense and just made their reconciliation all the more cathartic <3

what do you like about their relationship, why is it interesting or enjoyable to you?

It's just so sweet dude like. They're so insecure but think the other is so cool and they're so alike but have no idea ahsvhsv,, it's so silly!!!

what about the individual characters involved? what does this relationship mean to them, what makes it unique among their relationships?

To Muku, it solidified that he is important as he is, and he doesn't need to be a track star or shoujo prince to have worth. Just knowing he can be an inspiration to someone like Juza, well that's just so cool!!! I think Muku always saw Juza as somewhat unapproachable, and now actively able to reach out to him and help him just by being himself is such a huge honour for him, and not a responsibility he takes lightly. He knows that while Juza is older, Muku has a lot more experience with people and he's willing to help him adjust however he can!!

And Juza thinks the world of his lil cousin, for being so brave and being able to take the steps he always wanted to in order to grow his confidence!! I think it was harder for Juza simply because he was used to isolating himself and never really had the peers Muku had (like in his track team etc.), so that initial step was the hardest but he's so glad he took it, even if it got Banri on his back. He's so incredibly proud of Muku, and doesn't hesitate to tell him that and will always go above and beyond to try to make up for his past misgivings (even if they weren't a huge deal, he wants to make ammends and properly).

favorite interaction they have in canon

After Picturesque closing night, when they told everyone they were cousins and Juza let Muku call him Juchan <3 that melted my heart soo much ue ue ue...

AND for the Beach event, when they reminisced about going to the beach as kids and really opened up to each other properly for the first time,, it was so sweet. It was the first event I played in en, and I was so in love with them just supporting each other.. like they are both so drastically different and yet so similar at the same time and neither of them realise it.

AND THE ONE JUZA SR WHERE HE GETS HIS MOTORCYCLE AND BUYS MUKU A HEMLET AND PROMISES TO TAKE HIM FOR A RIDE ONE DAY... THATS SO PRECIOUS TO ME TOO.

Ngl, I haven't read Phantom Thief yet, I'm so behind ahsvhdv,, so maybe that'll change if/when I read the translation BUT either way those moments mean the world to me i hold them soo gently...

favorite interaction they have in your head/a situation you want to put them in

Honestly, I'd love to see Juza sitting in on a shoujo manga club meeting and them having him act out being a prince. I feel like because Sakyo and Juza are so similar and they're troupemates, Juza would feel comfortable enough to do so even with an extended audience of Kazunari (as long as he promises not to film it and post it to instablam). Like, yknow this one webmanga panel.

I imagine it'd be a lil like that <3 it'd let Juza practice a role he doesn't get to often, and Muku already thinks Juza is so cool, he'd be so enamoured seeing him as a prince!!

I'd also love for the Muku Banri earn cash chat to be real, and Banri teaches Muku to fight. Like we already know Muku can shove Juza to the floor with his strength, boy is Stromg. Like Banri is just training with him in the courtyard and then has to run for his life because Juza is just stood there like 🧍‍♂️ BUT as soon as Banri scrams, Juza'd rush over to Muku and make sure he was okay and Muku would be like, "I'm so sorry Juchan, it's all my fault. I asked him to teach me so i wouldn't be a defenceless wet lettuce leaf..." and then Juza takes him for ice cream <3

Fake dating:

This is actually Texas-Hates-Taxes-Too’s idea who wrote that the Lieutenants keep trying to set Wash up on dates and eventually he just gets fed up enough that he just says he’s with Tucker to get them to back off. Then he asks Tucker to pretend for him just until they go to Iris. In my interpretation Tucker only agrees after Wash offers throwing knives lessons and the lieutenants keep trying to make good dates for them in apology. (Hopefully it’s ok for me to take this idea and run with it.)

Werewolf AU:

If you’ve seen Teen Wolf (the tv show) this is based kinda on that. Tucker is Stiles a human with a little something extra who runs with werewolves. Wash is a hunter who comes to investigate the nemeton (an old tree thats power has been regained and is calling supernatural creatures to the town). I guess for a werewolf au it’s a bit different cause neither of the two love interests are werewolves lol. This one would be a big one when I get to writing it, so I have a lot of thoughts on it if you wanna chat lol.

BDSM PWP:

I feel like this one is pretty self explanatory, but the little plot that there is is that Sometimes Tucker can’t take being in charge anymore, being the reason some people live or die? It can be too much sometimes and he just wants to go a little mindless; Wash can help with that.

Fuck Buddies:

Tucker realizes his attraction to Wash and wants to fuck but he doesn’t think he can do relationships and they actually agree on just a friends with benefits thing. However, Wash grows feelings and decides to end it to save himself from pain. For some reason this hurts Tucker more than he thinks it should and goes about figuring out if he can actually do relationship.

Catfishing:

Tucker and Wash meet online playing video games and for some reason Tucker thinks that Wash is a girl. They do a lot of flirting and decide to meet in person, but when they do Tucker realizes the truth. Once he knows this he says he just wants to stay friends, Wash is a bit disappointed but ok with it. But even as friends Tucker falls in love with Wash all over again.

Jealous Tucker:

Doc, Locus and Donut all fall for Wash at different points and Tucker doesn’t understand why the idea of Wash with any of them makes him want to rip his face off.

Bodyguard:

Tucker’s name gets added to a hit list and needs a bodyguard, enter agent Washington who some (not many) call the best in the business. Having a bodyguard wasn’t new for Tucker, as Church had been his for a while, but there hadn’t been any danger before now and Tucker has to adjust to this new hardass who won’t let him screw around. (Not sure if I want to make this full on mafia au or just Tucker heard something he shouldn’t and now his life is in danger kind of thing)

im sorry i woke up from a bizarre digimon dream and i was gonna ask for ur opinion on how tamers handled renamon's character but you should get any important stuff on yoru plate out of the way first. ok cool

Hello i have a lot of scattered thoughts on this. dub renamon and sub renamon are very different though, so please know this comes from the perspective of someone who has only been through the show all the way on the sub. my thoughts on dub renamon are, i don't like how they made her a femme fatale when literally none of that is in the original. i dont like how she is constantly quipping and i don't like how she is like I am a woman .But i am awesome. it feels very annoying, very reductive and gets rid of all the things i thought made renamon charming in the original. but thats enough about that.

Renamon as a character is pretty one note and i think shes handled pretty well as far as that goes. having a digimon that is essentially a stoic, mechanical protector of women is fun. it never changes about her that she is single-minded & unexpressive but also earnestly insightful and caring (even if only out of obligation & for self serving reasons at first) beneath a cold exterior , and i think it always works. She's charming & a fun straight man for the two goofier digimon that comprise the rest of the main cast. i think her characterization is really consistent and shes cute and a lot of fun. BUT its not as simple as that because shes like, only one half of a diptych really, in tamers and in digimon broader, the relationship between a digimon and their tamer has its own self contained narrative arc, and thats where things get stupid with renamon & why i kind of hated ruki for like, the first 25 episodes of the show, Because it is not always good.

It is established that digimon tamers was kind of written as they went along and you can tell with ruki and renamon. The amount of times they double back and have the exact same character conflict (Where ruki and renamon fight over being unable to get what they want out of the other party) over nad over again is like mind numbing. by the third time you just chekc the fuck out youre like OK RUKI THIS IS THE PART WHERE YOU LEARN THAT YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR DIGIMON NOW!!!!!!!!!!! and because renamon is stoic and stubbornly affixed to her purpose as a weapon and getting stronger theres no movement on her end either. The two characters stay static in this illusory semi-developing state for like the entire first arc and its terrible, it was my least favorite things about tamers first arc, i was literlaly like. Ok when is renamon gonna wise up and just get really fucking mad at ruki. and it never happened. Once the writers finally decide they're done teachign ruki for the third or fourth time that renamon is a living being and not a weapon and that they have to genuinely trust eachother to get stronger then i think their character arc gets way more interesting but it leaves such a sour impression of ruki in general. Most importantly its obnoxious to sit through. When i look back on it thoguh i actualyl kind of like it, but i hated watching it.

the funnnnn part of renamon &rukis arc comes once that hurdle is crossed and then their partnership crosses the line from like I only dubiously view you as autonomous into like, full blown tortured codependency. and that is so interesting to me that it retrospectively makes the part of the show where neither of htem can decide if they think the other one is really alive or not make sense. Its like the second ruki decides renamon has a soul they become completely enmeshed to the extent that their biomerge evolution is literally kicked off by what appears to be a double suicide. Its fascinating. They like communicate to eachother in a language shared by only them and are literally never separated from eachother and rukis like the only time i relaly feel peaceful and happy is when im piloting renamon like a mecha. Its kind of subtextual in the show itself because their narrative arc kind of falls to the wayside as takato&guilmon jian&terriermon juri and impmon are prioritized, but i feel like the extent of this is really emphasized in message in the packet, wherein its revealed that ruki has basically gotten like 20x worse as a person since renamon left and now feels like an empty shell without purpose, pathetically whispers into the void that she always saw renamon as the big sister she never had, & how she doesnt know who she is going to be and how she si going to live now. i am fascinated with this and honestly i did not like ruki at all until i looked at it through the lens that this provides. But when you do notice this and you think back to the show its self, its like, oh you guys REALYL were killing yourselvs for eachother, and now are both left tortured and alone in one anothers absence. And its great. i love this kind of character dynamic, i think its really distinct from the ohter ones in the show, and its kind of emotionally agonizing and pathetic in a way that i think is fun and interesting to explore. i think about it a lot, probably more than i think about the relationships between either of the main cast digimon&tamer pairs, so credit is due there.

In short i like renamon, she is consistent and always fun, her relationship with ruki is endlessly fascinating to me, i hate the first half of the arc, but the second half and the message in the packet epilogue retrospectively make it really resonant to me. Sorry for the fucking length of this reply my god. Thanks for the ask. So people may ask, soda what the fuck, how will you do that. well. buddy. im not gonna make robot versions of the trolls, it would be fun but... no. neither will i go the other way around, though that would also be fun. I only assigned the outsiders some classpects. i've never done that before except for simple friendly inside jokes, but here i go.

First off, i gave them extended zodiac signs, because it definetely helps with classpecting in my opinion and also its fun to analyze. for Clementine, i got Arist.

anyways, the way i classpect is usually reading about the different aspects, and then make class the second thing i decide.

I used the elimination method for the classes; do they steal (aspect)? do they destroy it?

I also go with the secondary things, for example princes lacking their aspect.

Adding onto that, Clementine, arguably, lacks of time, because she is on the run from Sentinels.

I also don't care about genders assigned to classes, mostly because I'm not a huge fan of it, but also because They're robots.

Conclusion; Clementine is the prince of time.

Okay? okay. thats one obligatory aspect out of the way. next we have Momo.

For Momo, figuring out the sign was a bit hard, but thats not very important. He'd be a Piga.

I'm proud of myself for this one. Light fits Doc both in the aspect sense, because of knowledge, and because he made the Defluxor.

On that note, he'd definitely be a knight. Serves through light. He used his knowledge to make a weapon against the zurks, which was super important for him to come back home and also for the kitty to safely make it through the sewers.

It also occurred to me that, if we take the speculations as a fact, and knights serve what there is little of in their session, it fits as well. The walled city is full of neons, but no natural light. as for knowledge, im not sure if it also fits that rule, but it could. Also when i say session generally its BEFORE the session there wouldn't be a lotta light, (meteors would kinda destroy the fucking walls and shit) but either way.

'The Conqueror of Demons' is depicted to be a mysterious sworn protector who swiftly appears alongside a strong gust of wind, instilling fear into whoever is unfortunate enough to become his foe. For over a millennia, the last remaining Yaksha worked tirelessly to subdue the hordes of demonic spirits that disturbed Liyue. But regardless of his harsh and intimidating nature, those lucky enough to encounter the said young man describe him as oddly gentle as he escorts them to safety. Never one to listen to gossip, you refused to believe such a thing--that is until you happened to encounter the said Adeptus one fateful evening.

You had called out the Guardian Yaksha's name in desperation after falling from a high cliff while trying to escape a group of treasure hoarders. In a blink of an eye, you found yourself in a protective hold as Xiao easily maneuvers the two of you into a much safer setting. Like the previous instances, Xiao doesn't say much and instead immediately disappears, leaving you to gape at the puff of smoke--unable to even thank him. As the days pass, you find bothered by your conscience which was rather uncharacteristic. Eventually, you learn from rumours that the teal-haired Adeptus frequented Wangshu Inn and you find yourself visiting the establishment with a small box of freshly picked fruits and a small bouquet consisting of Silk flowers and Glaze Lilies, a thank you gift of some sorts.

Initially, neither of you got off to the best start with the Yaksha trying to drive you away with harsh words and even harsher glares but you were stubborn. Xiao tried his best to intimidate you by either giving you the cold shoulder or unnervingly staring at you--He's rather perplexed when you do the same thing, seemingly unaffected. Suffice to say, even as Xiao ignored your presence, you visited the said young every two weeks, never failing to bring him something. And like every other relationship, it takes an even longer time for you to earn the Anemo user's trust--You've compared the Yaksha to a cute feral cat at some point but you can't say that out loud, can you?

Over the next few years, you find the aloof warrior warming up and in turn, Xiao finds you to be a rather interesting mortal. Other than being quick-witted and a natural conversationalist, you held an unquenchable thirst to learn about the human psyche--He listens patiently when you share the different theories as to what drove humans to attain the ultimate happiness. Furthermore, the Adeptus has deciphered your true nature since, he too, shares the same mindset. In truth--despite the vengeful and cold persona--Xiao knows that you were a capable teacher and placed a great amount of thought into both your words and actions even if they come across as blunt. You’re surprised to find the Anemo-user providing you with a bit of advice as you express your concern regarding your disconnect from other people's emotions--He lets you practice having a friendly conversation with him but what's the point when it's hard to guess his emotions with that handsome stoic face of his.

Frankly, it isn't just the Yaksha who had taken a shine to you as Ver Goldet and Smiley Yanxiao, the innkeeper and chef, have more than a few occasions offered free meals or a vacant room--They are rather surprised when you offer to help them around the establishment which only makes them fond of you--You were a sincere hard worker and Xiao doesn't seem to mind your presence. Speaking of the said individual, the Anemo-user recently found you to have such dry humour. You are surprised to find the Conqueror of Demons turning away to hide his chuckles.

It's on a warm evening that the teal-haired warrior becomes immensely aware of how far along your relationship has progressed. In the long years, he has been alone, he would have never guessed that he would find himself sharing a plate of Rice Buns and Almond Tofu with a mortal such as yourself. The relationship you shared with Xiao can be best described as comradery seeing as you both had experienced isolation at some point in your lives. It might not show but at this time, Xiao is content being able to experience what it feels to have a friend.

…But there are also times when he catches his heart pounding a little faster than usual when you flash him a toothy grin while handing him a plate of Almond Tofu--It may seem that the said desert may not be his only weakness anymore.

Are you not going to see him today? You're embarrassed, you say? Well, I am sure he doesn't mind you visiting.

time to analyze my ocs as if I didn't make them, dara's character arc is soooo interesting to me. cause she's already had her redemption arc. you don't get to see it but she's spent the last 70 years trying to improve in every way she can. and she's done well! if you compare her as she is now to how she was before theron's death, she is Starkly different.

the only perspective you get on her before theron's death is theron's journal, but it is a good perspective to have. because she fucking treated this kid like shit! theron was not part of her job description so she did not give them care aside from making sure they were alive. and she clearly didn't do that part very well either! she got herself wrapped up in her annoyance of this kid enough to be convinced they needed to DIE. falling that far into her own selfish emotions wasn't entirely her fault but she still very much had every option not to. and yet therons dead.

what you don't get to see is everything in between that moment and the start of the comic, 74 years later. of course you don't. dara is the main character of this story, a little bit the narrator as everything follows her. and she does not think seeing those 74 years is important. there's only then and now. she doesn't let the story take a path that could reveal just how much effort she's put into doing better. she won't look at it and neither should you.

but she HAS clearly had her arc. you can see that. she loves the kids in her school so much. she cares about everyone she meets So Much. she lets kids who have nowhere else to go stay over the summer and makes sure they dont have to go back to abusive environments. you dont even have to fucking look at anything else to know this is a HUGE shift from what she was like in 1950! she takes in a random kid practically left on her doorstep (jules) and makes sure they are loved and safe despite the consequences that could come from that! and it feels so casual for her!! this isn't something she's doing out of guilt (maybe not anymore), she's just doing it because it's the right thing to do! because she CLEARLY put in the effort already to reach this point, even if we didn't see it. dara does not HAVE a redemption arc in the comic. she's already finished hers LONG before the story begins.

dara's arc in comic isn't about getting better, it's about accepting being better. dara had even already begun accepting herself before the comic started. its been 7 decades. she hasn't Forgotten what she did, it just. isn't relevant anymore. so she doesn't think about it as often as she once did. ...but now she can't avoid thinking about it. and she's losing so much of the progress she's made because she hates herself that much. as much effort as she clearly put into being kind to others, she did not put the same into being kind to herself. and on some level, it's fair. i mean. kind of hard to want to be kind to a child murderer. and she shouldn't convince herself that didn't matter, because it does, so much. but she really takes it to mean she can never be a good person. and thats where so much of the conflict of the story lies. her self hatred is why everything gets as bad as it does. she's dragging everyone down with her because hating herself becomes more important than keeping her loved ones safe. and it hurts them a lot. it hurts her. over. and over. and over.

daras arc revolves around accepting the truth. that people are complicated. and letting herself live because she's a person too. she's already gone through her redemption arc. now she just needs to see that and live with it

This is an interesting ask anon, so thanks for it. The weird thoughts usually make for good questions in all fairness.

I suppose there are two ways to regard this, the first being if the queens both know that the other is them in spirit and the second would obviously be if they are not aware and someone just so happens to have the same name as them (if names are even shared).

It is a bit of strange premise anon, I am not going to really disagree with that. Though strange does necessarily not mean bad. In general, how would it be considered if you are having sex with someone who is technically yourself? I suppose it would be weird to say that I think it is less 'extreme' than something incestuous, but who knows.

There are a lot of points that come to mind with it when considering the similarities and differences that align with both queens. You are right, I would say that the greater significance of the stage queens differ to a large degree from their movie portrayals. At least enough that it would be hard to say that many are really the same fundamental character when it comes down to it. Not in a negative sense, more from the perspective that the movie changed characters and basically made a non-replica / alternate universe of sorts.

Reagardless, I do admittedly have a bit of a hard time imagining something like this taking place, particularly if they know the other queen is in fact them. Given the interconnectedness of the different realms and spirituality built into parts of the musical, I think either queen would consider their counterpart an extension of themselves, just reborn into another life. In the vast majority of cases, it would end there in my opinion. Even from the perspective that they do not initially realize they are the 'same' queen, sharing a name would be another issue. That is clearly a hard thing to avoid, and it would set off figurative alarm bells in either queen's mind. No matter how many cats could be around, it would be very unusual to meet another cat with a name as unique as Rumple or Tanto for example. It would likely hinder anything further because they would figure out quickly that the other cat is them in some way. Rather than banging one out, I think they would have much more pertinent topics to discuss and share first as to why a second form of them suddenly materialized.

Anyway, for the purpose of this answer we are focusing on the premise that neither queen knows the other is them and that names are not brought up or important. Essentially the other queen is completely separate and remains that way in any sense.

If 2019 Vic and stage Vic were to meet, I do not think they would end up fucking for a long time (if at all) after the initial introduction. They are both shyer and more reserved queens that would probably share a deep friendship rather than any physical intimacy. They could easily be ballet partners / friends that support the other in such a sweet and personal way. Beyond that, neither of them are the other's type. Stage Vic likes the quiet strength / care of her mans and the boundless energy of Rumple, and 2019 Vic does not strongly possess either of those attributes. Alternately, movie Vic needs someone to chase / woo her, and it is not so much stage Vic's style. It would be a spontaneous and likely one-off thing if anything happened.

If they were aware they are the same, I think they would elated to hear about the other's life and the friendship would grow to be more like one of siblings(?).

For Rumple, I think it would be pretty quick before they are fucking in the bushes somewhere. 2019 Rumple is very forward and sultry, yet fun and exciting. Stage Rumple would eat that type of girl up (quite literally) as soon as she could, as that kind of energy from a queen aside from herself is dearly missing in the junkyard. On the other hand, movie Rumple would be smitten with the fun little queen that has the nicest ass she has even seen. Likely initiated by 2019 Rumple, they would get up to some mutually agreed upon shenanigans before getting distracted and ending up in a competition as to who can make the other cum faster.

Out of all the queens, if both were actually aware that the other was indeed them from another world, I do think they would still fuck. It is like the craziest masturbation possible, and they would be into that. Life is about having fun with little regard for rules, so what if that other hot queen is them in a way? May as well indulge a bit. Makes for a good story.

For Tanto, I think it could go either way. The tasteful distilling amd amplification of stage Tanto's more fun and outgoing side into her stage counterpart would make 2019 Tanto strangely alluring to the reserved queen. However, I would not think stage Tanto would catch her other spirit's attention easily to be honest. If they were to talk and get along, it could build, but I would not see a sexual relationship starting out quickly at all. If it did blossom, they would definitely share a intense passion with one another. Though, I think 2019 Tanto is too male leaning for it to be destined. Plus, she would be keener to explore with a more 'softer' queen akin to someone like Vic.

If they were aware that they were intertwined manifestations of the same existence, I do think stage Tanto would still be interested in exploring intimacy from a perspective of testing pleasure and spiritual energies in a completely irreproducible way that would come as her fucking herself but not herself. Movie Tanto would not agree to it though.

Stage Cass would be intrigued by the sassy / bossy nature of 2019 Cass, and that would elicit some desire from her. Movie Cass would be intimidated by her stage counterpart at first, but get on board with making a pass at the other brown queen. Meeting with a glint in their eyes, I think their sex would be a power struggle of them figuratively and literally wrestling the other be the top / domme. (Un)fortunately for 2019 Cass, she is not going to win that fight.

If either found out about 'truth' behind the other, I think they would have a laugh at making the universe more powerful with a second Cass. Rather than come together, I think they would both share tips on how to flex their control over others.

With Bomba, the stage queen would be put off by the negative aura of self-importance and 'big' attitude exhibited by 2019 Bomba. It would be a pretty big turn off for her. The movie version would be flirty with the (actually) red queen, but it would be a one-sided interest.

They would not fuck if they discovered they are both the Bombas of their world. Confusion more than anything would stem from it.

The stage and movie version of Deme are so different that I cannot see them hooking up or really even having much of any communication or relationship if they were in the same physical realm. Their personalities and essence are too dissimilar, and their preferences in partners is not close at all. Add to that, that stage Deme is not really all that female leaning as well. It would not really work.

Finding out they are the same individual would not change that, but stage Deme would be happy to hear that somewhere existed her spirit that lived without so much past traumas.

Stage Jenny would scoff at how aloof her movie version is. I do not think they would get along well, and would develop a fierce rivalry of sorts about who is best at baking, tending the mice, and training the cockroaches. Even burning competition would not open any sort of deeply fostered lust for the other in either of them.

Making them aware they are both Gumbie would make a bit of a merger of their rivalry into a iron-fisted rule over the junkyard. There would not be a piece of trash out of place, but 2019 Jenny does not have the discipline as her stage counterpart so they would still squabble.

With Jelly(s), there is so much of a disconnect character wise that it simply would not even be remotely plausible. The only thing that connects them is their name. Otherwise, they really are two separate characters that would have absolutely nothing in common if they were to meet, whether they are aware the other is them or not.

im going to put some octo2 thoughts here now that i’ve had time to digest it. there will be spoilers

overall i think i liked octo2 as a game more than 1. im sad they (understandably) changed some (kinda broken) mechanics from the first game (sp steal/share on thief and tomahawk nerf..............), but we got some great qol updates, like no more purple chests and the hunter’s monster system got LEAGUES better. all the jobs got more powerful overall despite them nerfing some aspects (i dunno if like a 1.5/1.5 turn kill on galdera was possible in the first game....... insane), the new parts were so fun to use (vengeful blade!!!!!!! arcanist as a whole!!! aaa!!!)

the music and art too oh my goddd. i didnt think it could get better but somehow it DID and i just. its amazing, aesthetically, on all fronts. yasunori nishiki could tell me to kms rn and i would. gladly. for all the work he put into the ost. just, chefs kiss. i dunno what else to say.

love love love the new travelers tho. they’re all very colorful and whlie i do like some more than others (hi tem, hi castti) i cant say i actively dislike any of them. thats not much different from the first game.

the writing was overall more enjoyable than 1 too imo, tho i dont get why they had the split route thing when they had progression recommendations for them anyway and it ended up being like... not much of a choice. the crossed paths were really nice. it would’ve been a Lot of work but i wish we had one for every combination of traveler rip. throne and tems was so good tho, definitely my fave of the bunch.

that aside im not gonna lie, i did not vibe w hikari partitio or agnea’s stories very much.

hikari’s story i think just did not fit the 5 chapter format very well. it felt really rushed to me and like it didnt have much depth to it. it was serviceable but didnt feel exciting to me.

paritio’s was... idk it felt a little repetitive?? hes a funny guy i like him but i think his goals were just a little too mundane and also global to be very interesting. like compare “i wanna get rid of poverty” to “im on a journey to unravel the mystery of who i once was”. like one of those is more intriguing and believable :/

agnea’s just felt way too low stakes compared to everyone else’s. i did see someone point out that the game might’ve felt a little too dark without it, which is... fair?? i guess?? the first game was also pretty dark it just took a little while longer to see compared to like, half the cast having a murder happen in their ch1. anyway, my girl just did not have an interesting story arc. it was all “i wanna be FAMOUS” without very many trials and tribulations tbh. not enough character struggle for me personally.

the final chapter was interesting. it was really cool to see everyone band together narratively to fight vide. mechanically, i also thought vide’s fight was cool as shit. all 8 on the field at once!! wow!! i do think the first game tied everyone in to the Big Bad better tho. bc like, wtf are u doing making fucking *npcs* the relevant ones from agnea and partitio’s stories?? like even in the first game the traveler’s that had weak ties to galdera’s revival were still like... idk it was still *them* and it was formative to their characters?? we have a reason to like graham via alfyn, and a reason as to why hes important via tressa, arguably 2 of the most indirect ties to galdera in 1 imo--graham also inspired alf to save others, and his journal eventually helped tressa learn the value of things that arent contemporarily accepted as treasure. idk i also felt like ori’s personality switch was so last minute. same for tanzy’s backstory tho the tragedy as to why she would follow through makes more sense. neither of them really had any impact on their respective traveler’s character either. like they didnt do anything to change their goals or personality. very weak.

i also dont know wtf was up w that alfred hornburg thing. like hello??? wtf are YOU doing here sir, u have gone and messed up my placing of the game in the series timeline/universe

but yeah. that last little bit of negativity aside, octo2 kinda just does what the first one did but better in most aspects. great game would recommend if u played the first. if the first didnt vibe w u, maybe would rec if u didnt vibe w the first bc the second is less frustrating mechanically.

"So, that's just it? You're just gonna up and leave and not tell us why?"

He wanted to sound mad, but his voice gave it all away. You couldn't stand the thought of what you were doing to them both. You couldn't even bring yourself to look at them as you left. You didn't even bother to grab your things. You just left emptyhanded.

Subconsciously, maybe you knew you'd find your way back eventually. But...Not now.

The weight of the world began to crush you with every step you took away from their place. You knew they were watching you from the window. If you had to leave, they'd at least make sure you'd stay safe.

It all felt like a cruel punchline to an unfunny joke. How could you be such a fool to think you'd be good for them? They....They were a protector. A lethal one, but still a protector. They helped people and saved the world from every threat imaginable. You sometimes couldn't even drag yourself out of bed.

It didn't seem fair to drag them down like that. They deserved better. They deserved the world, and you just couldn't give them that. Someday they'd find someone who would.

That night was spent alone on a friend's spare guest bed. The world was so quiet. There were no streetlights beaming into your room. There was no more sounds of late night traffic or the people talking and walking as they passed under your shared window.

There was no more fighting Venom for the comforter because he'd purposely hog it just to get your attention. It always worked. There wasn't the usually jokes about forgetting to set your alarms for the work morning ahead.

You simply set your alarm and laid down. The world seemed so much colder and emptier. It didn't seem fun and bright anymore. The bed felt much more spacious now.. The pillows felt too squishy and new. The sheets looked nothing like his.

Staring at the wall wasn't going to put you to sleep any faster, so you rolled over and clamped your eyes shut. You willed yourself to not cry.

The tv kept repeating the same old stuff. Robbery after robbery. Someone got shot. A car accident. Oh, it's going to rain tomorrow.

We should be fixing that..

"I don't feel like doing anything anymore."

"I don't feel like doing anything anymore either, V."

There was an uncomfortable silence. Normally there'd be some form of a pep talk from you, but now.. Your spot on the couch was empty. All that was there to suggest that you even existed was your favorite throw pillow.

With hesitation, Eddie grabbed the pillow and held it in his lap. It still looked brand new, and that's simply because you always knew how to take care of things. Nothing of yours ever really got broken or misplaced..And you always knew just how to handle things.

"I miss them."

A thought they shared in common. It's felt like months, but it's only been a couple of weeks. Your things were still occupying space here. It was almost torturous having to look at them each day and know that you weren't going to come home.

It was that thought that broke them both. They curled up on the couch, sad and defeated. The world was incomplete because you weren't here to make ti better. A rough day at work? You'd say, "Oh, don't worry." as you made some hot coco to relax with. Emotions getting out of control? You were always there with ways to fix them.

Did they take you for granted? Did they forget to cherish you? Did they do something wrong? Everyone always told them that they were just screwups who ruined everything, so maybe they just fucked it up again.

Maybe they'd learn to live with it. Just not today.

It's just not home anymore. Home is where you were.

The rain was awfully heavy today. But you were thankful. Today was hitting you harder than the last few. You were stumbling down the sidewalk, tears streaming down your face. Nothing seemed to hold any meaning anymore. You'd pass by Mrs. Chen's shop, and normally you'd stop by there to get Eddie and V a snack or two. But now, you simply keep walking.

Today you just let your body walk. To where? Wherever you felt like you needed to go. You were so tired, and so worn down. That only help cement in the fact that you just... You were an absolute nobody. Who could love a nobody?

If only you were born gifted with the brains, the talents or even the powers. Maybe you'd be worth something. Maybe you'd see yourself as more. Maybe if you felt like you held any importance to anyone, you'd find a reason to stick around anywhere, with anyone.

Despite wanted to be more to literally anyone, all you could think is being better for them. They meant so much, no, no, they mean so much to you. It felt so dumb and childish to be so hung up on two of the goofiest creatures on this planet. You couldn't lie to anyone. You were hopelessly in love with Eddie Brock, a man who truly was a breed of his own. And you were in love with Venom, an alien with a heart bigger than his stomach but he's too embarrassed to say it.

You don't want to love them anymore. Because you still believe it was better to not be with them.

You slumped against a light post and wiped your eyes. You tried everything to stop the tears from flowing, but that only made them multiply. You'd scold yourself if you had the energy.

The world really did begin to feel more and more empty. People seemed to walk pass and not even give you a second glance. None of them cared, and to be honest, neither did you. Normally you never noticed other people, because you'd be so wrapped up in whatever it was you and Eddie, and yes, Venom too, were doing.

But they aren't here anymore. You were back to where you started. Alone and afraid of what the world had in store. You used to wake up knowing what you'd be doing...But now you weren't sure.

You remained leaned against the streetlight for an eternity. The sun had set and the moon had risen, yet you remained put. Everything was cold now. The rain had subsided, but the light continued to drip down on you, but even then, you didn't have the willpower to move.

It's better to be cold than to have never been warm, right? That is how the saying goes...Right?

You sniffled, waiting for the next set of drops to hit your head, but they never did. You slowly looked up and saw someone's hands holding up a jacket. They looked like they were doing their best to hold it up like an umbrella, and without touching you. You recognized the jacket immediately, even just from seeing the inside of it. You'd worn it so many times.

You stood up straight and turned around, being greeted with the sight of Eddie. He looked just as tired as you, and just as lost. He looked like he had a million things to say, but it seems like the cat had his tongue.

The universe was giving you a chance. For some reason.

"I'm sorry." was the first thing to spill out of your mouth.

"We're sorry, too."

"You didn- It was me. I was.." You took a step back from under the jacket, but it seems like Venom wasn't having any of that. He moved Eddie's body for him, this time, draping the jacket on your shoulders.

You gently crossed your arms and held them close, appreciating the gesture now.

"You can leave now. If you want." Eddie moved back a little, "We just saw that you were cold.."

"I don't want to go." you gripped onto the jacket, trying to fight the new wave of tears threatening to come out, "I just.. I had to because I felt like I wasn't good enough."

You were about to ramble on when Eddie cut you off, "That's why you left?"

"I'm sorry." You felt like you could just curl up and die on the sidewalk.

You looked down, staring at the cracks that littered the walkway. You'd find someway to make this poetic.

Two hands, one human and the other very much not, wrapped themselves around you as they pulled you into a warm embrace.

"Did we make you feel that way?"

The way Eddie's voice cracked made your arms go limp at your sides.

"No. I made myself feel that way- But I can't help it. You guys do so much good and I-"

"We love you."

The hug got tighter, "We used to do what we did because it was the right thing to do. But then we met you and it all changed. It seems so cliche to say that, but...It's true."

"You're just saying that."

"We adore you. We promised to do everything we can to make sure we leave this world a better place for you."

Your hands shook as your fought with yourself. You wanted to hold them just as close as they were holding you, but you felt-

"I don't deserve this.."

Unworthy.

In typical Brock fashion, and never knowing how to truly deal with his emotions, Eddie clung to you, almost pleading, "Would you just listen to what we're saying."

"You can't love me."

"Why the hell not? Huh? Whose going to stop us?"

"Nobody's going to stop us."

"Why is it me. Out of all the worthy people, why me?"

"You're such a good person. I know you don't see that..But you're the kindest person I've ever met."

"Certainly the nicest I've met..."

Every last word you wanted to yell out into the night sky just vanished from your mind. You wrapped your arms around Eddie and squeezed as hard as you could.

"How many times do we have to say it to make you believe it?"

"I'll say it a billion times," Eddie said, "Most guys would quit at a million but me? I don't know when to quit."

"It's true. He doesn't. But if saying it a billion times gets you to come home, then I'd do it a million more than him."

"I," You started, taking in a deep shaky breath, "I wanna go home regardless."

"We can talk more there if you're comfortable."

"With coco."

"I would like that."

The walk home was a talkative one.

Eddie's hand held yours tightly, but not too tight. He was so afraid that if he didn't hold it firmly enough, you'd simply slip away again. He was sure as hell not letting that happen again.

The apartment looked the exact same as when you left. You were so surprised by that. Normally they'd be a mess if you were gone for too long, and the apartment would reflect that.

"It all looks the same."

"Oh. Yeah." Eddie busied himself with fetching the hot chocolate ingredients.

"We couldn't bring ourselves to ruin your hard work...Or move your things." For the first time, Venom seemed sad.

They both seemed tired. You wanted to feel bad, knowing that they felt that way because of you. But knowing that they loved you meant that they felt bad, not because of you, but because you were gone.

Without thinking, your hand reached out and grabbed Eddie's arm, startling him a little.

"Can we go lay down for a little bit.." you asked quietly, "I think we all need a little rest."

Relief washed over him as he set down the cups and lead the way to the bedroom. There was no more words as you three crashed onto the mattress. Venom used a small tendril to turn the lamp off and pull you closer to Eddie.

"Are you okay with loving a nobody like me?" you asked as you watched him shut his eyes.

"Are you okay with loving two nobodies?"

"We are all losers."

Venom pulled a blanket over you and Eddie, going so far as to fluff the pillows under your heads.

"And that's okay. I love us the way we all are."

You yawned for the first time in ages as your eyes closed, "I love us too."

There was that familiar light coming through the window. And there was the sounds of the cars and the people. The world felt just right and you were home. You moved closer to Eddie and placed a quick, soft kiss on his lips, and his arms were quick to wrap around you.

You felt a soft tendril wrap around your arm.

"I know what you're feeling and what you're thinking." His voice sounded surprisingly quiet, "But you are more than enough for us. We don't say it, but sometimes we feel the same way. You could certainly do better than us. But.."

The tendril tighten a little, but not enough to really do much.

"You left and we realized...We don't know what to do without you. We didn't feel like doing anything anymore. It felt pointless."

You turned your head to look at your arm, seeing two small white eyes staring at you with a mixture of sadness and adoration.

"I know I'm not good with these human emotions..I might never be good with them, but..I know that I love you. And Eddie loves you too. We always try our best to show you..But you are truly all we need to be happy in this life."

You were a bit shocked with how much Venom had to say. Most of the time, he tried to use the least amount of words possible to get his point across, so you knew that he meant it.

"You both complete me, and for once, I finally have the courage to say it, because I don't know when I'll get the chance to say it again."

You smiled softly at him, and moved your arm in a way where you could place a soft kiss onto the top of his tiny little worm head.

"I won't leave again. I promise we can talk about it first."

"Talking is good."

"I love you, V."

"I love you too." He seemed to pause as he shot a glance up to Eddie, just to make sure he was still asleep, "More than that guy."

"Not possible." Eddie groaned, adjusting a little.

You smiled a little as you curled up under the blanket and actually shut your eyes for good for the night. Finally, a good night's rest. You still had doubts, maybe not many and none as big and frightening as before, but that was normal.

Not everything in life is a given or a certainty. You're not promised to tomorrow and it's not a give that you'll be a millionaire. But where you are now is where you're supposed to be. Don't doubt it. The two halves of your heart will quite literally walk to the ends of the universe just to see you smile, and that's more than enough for you.
