“killing off deeply traumatized character that was so close to happiness and healing after all they have been through is bad writing” is such a deeply unserious criticism and so many of you keep pretending like it isnt

i do honestly think the biggest success of the life series is how fun they are. and how funny they are as well. like tragedies where everyone dies at the end and the love was there but didn't change anything and everyone is Doomed By The Narrative? you can get that anywhere. but i think the life series is unique in that after third life everyone Knows how it'll end and are having soso much fun along the way

The fact that neurotypical and able-bodied people can’t comprehend that disabled people usually don’t like consistently being told “BEING DISABLED IS BAD!!! THE WAY YOU ARE IS FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG!!! YOU NEED TO BE CURED!!!” even in a ‘nice’ or ‘woke’ way shows how little they actually value our agency or even our worth as humans.
No, Stacy, I don’t want people fiddling with eugenics because they’re uncomfortable with me existing, I want you to. You know. Treat me like a person. Have help be there when I need it without treating me like I’m an invalid. Why is that apparently so much more difficult for you than telling me my existence is wrong and spending millions fiddling in a lab for unwanted “cures?” Whatever happened to listening to others and accepting them for who they are? Or do you only see disabled people as the poor, helpless invalids you can “help” cross the street without asking so you can get another Scouts badge?

what do you think of that scene where katara kissed aang on the cheek?
This one?
Look at the framing. It’s framed completely through Aang’s POV, and he blushes, because he has a crush on her.
But Katara? I don’t see anything indicating she viewed this as a romantic gesture. People seem to forget that in many cultures (including some of the ones ATLA is inspired by), kisses are a common greeting. Even in cultures where it isn’t as common, platonic kisses (especially from mothers, which the show explicitly compares Katara and Aang’s dynamic to on multiple occasions) are not weird or unusual.
To be completely honest, from Katara’s POV, this kiss has the energy of a mom being proud of her son for doing a good poopy in the toilet. The idea of it being flirtatious is honestly a bit nausea inducing.
Oh and bonus:
If kisses are inherently romantic, should we be sending Sokka to jail for Alabama crimes or what…

[ID: A panel from Dungeon Meshi. Laois has a serious expression as he sweeps a cloak over his shoulder. It joins at the shoulder with a wolf's face, making it seem to be a wolf skin, but under the wolf's shout there are feathers visible, and the overall sweeping size of the wool cloak seems bigger than a wolf. End ID.]

“I Don’t Want To Die Alone”
hurts because this is something that humans are meant to be afraid of. Mere mortals. Bill is not immune to feelings of existential dread and it shows.
This is another reason as to why I cannot wait to get my greedy little hands on the BoB; I need more insights into his perception of reality, his worldview and unfiltered stream of consciousness. The things he doesn’t realise he is revealing to us consequent of simply being given the chance to write it all out.
This, of course, gives a whole other layer of…meaning to “TIME IS DEAD AND MEANING HAS NO MEANING”. If the passage of time is halted, then no living thing will ever age, nothing will change, and Bill can remain the “Host (of the party) that never dies” for all eternity. He will have (questionable) company, he will have entertainment, he will never be alone.
Seriously. Ford’s infamous “From now until the end of time” must have been like the Elixir of Life for him…

Semi-desperate Mithrun in regards to Kabru post-canon is so fucking real. On top of everything else, the guy kinda sorta literally gave him a will to live. Like. Mithrun's an acts of service logic type guy and was already attached to him. And how the fuck are you gonna return a favor like That. Beyond the continuing demon hunting and shit he probably rings up Kabru once a week like "You wanna hang out. I know you're stressed all the time every day. Come hang out with me." And is like yea, this is a normal response to a guy making you see you still have a life. And doesn't process the fact he's in weird complicated some kinda love with him.
YES !!!! mithrun hasn't desired (or hasn't believed he desired anything besides revenge) and when he's starting to develop feelings for kabru, he's nervous and a bit surprised. to me the realisation is slow and methodical, like "i miss kabru. i want kabru around. i feel his absence. what does this mean. all a part of newly wanting things i guess. totally normal to do this." -> 6 months later "oh"
and last time he fell in love, mithrun became a dungeon master and his entire life changed. now he's got his life back, learning about loving that, and kabru complicates many things. i think even kabru would have hesitations, mostly over how he believes elves can't understand short lived races, and if there is a 'future' for them that they'd both be happy with. i want to see them work it out together. it's very beautiful to me :)

one issue Is, I think, that many ex fandom ppl that relentlessly mock fandom still have Fandom Tendencies and these could be solved by just getting really weird about a TV show but bc they now think that's Cringe and Embarrassing, they treat real life political issues and crises the same way they used to treat fandoms... like 😭
