In replies to my post a couple of people have expressed the opinion that Erik didn't care about Wille going through rough initiation/saw it as a necessary experience for his brother.
@raincitygirl76: "Erik wasn’t worried about Wilhelm’s upcoming initiation in 1.01 because Erik got initiated as a first year himself, and it was probably nearly as or just as brutal as the initiation he subjected August, Nils, Vincent etc to. It’s Wilhelm’s turn to suffer. In a few years it’ll be his turn to inflict the suffering. So Erik isn’t worried about Wilhelm.
That’s how hazing perpetuates itself. Most people who went through it and survived convince themselves it wasn’t as bad as they remember. So they pack their own kids (or in this case their kid brother) off to the place where they got hazed, and they don’t see it as a problem.
Erik would be considered a lousy Forest Ridge graduate if he gave his little brother a heads up beforehand that it would be brutal. Or if Erik asked August to go easy on Wilhelm. Erik doing so would imply to the current third years that Erik thinks Wilhelm is weak. If he cant get through the typical initiation unlike all the other boys, is Wilhelm even worthy of belonging to Forest Ridge?
So no, Erik would neither warn Wilhelm nor intervene with August."
I see how it could work in real life but it doesn't work for a piece of media. Because it is the opposite of good storytelling. Good storytelling means introducing important themes in the beginning, not two episodes before a series finale. Good storytelling means including hints and clues that start to make sense only after the reveals are made.
SA plotline turned out to be crucial for how conflicts in the show had been resolved. It was an important if not the main factor behind Wille's intention to renounce his title in the future. Therefore, SA plotline should have been treated as such since the very first episode.
If it was conceived as pivotal at the very beginning, we would see the signs of it.
For example:
Erik wouldn't look like a happy idiot while in Hillerska. Maybe he wouldn't have a talk with August or warn Wille, but we would see something was bothering him;
during the parents' weekend some of them could express their concern over initiation rituals back in their days;
the initiation August, Nils and Vincent went through should have been discussed — by them or by other senior students;
the warnings Hillerska supposedly got in the last decade would have been mentioned;
when Henry was talking about Hillerska's problem with applications or when the headmistress was insisting on August paying tuition, Hillerska's financial situation could have been connected to its toxic culture;
Sara's initiation was a great moment to give the audience a hint: yes, rituals of The Manor House are crazy, but they are nothing in comparison to the Forest Ridge ones.
None of that was done. A crucial plotline has been consistently treated as backdrop to the main plot. Why?
I don't follow interviews of the cast and creators, but my understanding is that Lisa Ambjörn has been actively participating in shaping a certain narrative around her writing. She specifically insists that the plot of the whole show had been established even before S1 started shooting.
SA plotline and the glaring absence of foreshadowing around it is just one example that makes me question this narrative.

Kaeyappreciation post!
Kaeya is wonderful in a sense that he:
Has a penmanship described as "Beautiful Handwriting". He for sure worked on that.
Willingly spends his time making sure his outfit looks perfect
Is well-loved by Mondstadt and the Dawn Winery staff
Is described to like a prince, both in looks and in actions
Is shown to be gentle and caring to children and elderly, most seen with Klee and the staff from Dawn Winery
Is a great listener and, therefore, also knows what gifts to buy based off of something someone said in passing
Is predominantly kind- unafraid to help out and defend someone in need. His first reaction is always kindness, and worry about covering up that kindness later on
But Kaeya also has his moments where he:
Says things out of pocket with enough alcohol in his system. Things that usually lead to shame and regret.
Would rather give others the credit for his hard work if he could help it
Intentionally makes himself look suspicious by withholding information and only throwing tidbits that are not of substance
Has sadist tendencies, which affects how he treats both his (cavalry) company and his enemies
Can and will use underhanded tactics to gain the upper hand
Rarely ever says what he truly wants to say
Has a fake smile. Usually lies or only deals with half truths.
He is such a complex character. I really do want people to appreciate him and his intricacies more. The fact that his entire personality and story is done so well and continues to actually grow and expand as the story progresses is something that genuinely makes me want to keep watch of him. I have never, in all my fandoms, stuck to a character as long as I did with Kaeya, and honestly? I know I'm not alone with this.
Look at how well they made our boy!

this informational piece is directed to the gale fandom specifically:
grooming is a tactic where someone methodically builds a trusting relationship with a child or young adult, their family, and community to manipulate, coerce, or force the child or young adult to engage in sexual activities.
1. Choosing a victim - The predator often chooses a child who is obviously vulnerable. Children who are withdrawn, low on confidence, emotionally deprived and with less parental supervision are particularly at risk.
2. Building access & trust - Sexual abuse often begins with friendship. The abuser can also take on other roles such as a romantic partner, a mentor, a caregiver or an authority figure. The abuser spends time in getting to know the victim's likes, dislikes and habits and pretending to share common interests. The perpetrator establishes trust with the child by making them feel special, sometimes through gifts or excessive compliments and attention. This is especially dangerous for vulnerable children who do not experience attention in their daily lives. In the trust development stage, offenders aim to develop a trusting friendship or relationship with their victim. This can involve several tactics, including:
a) praising the child for their maturity and intelligence;
b) encouraging the child to disclose personal information;
c) syncing their language with that of the child;
d) highlighting mutuality (i.e., similar interests, attitudes and behaviors between the offender and child); and finally,
e) portraying themselves as being trustworthy and nice.
3. Filling a need with gifts & favors - Giving the victim small gifts and favours is a strategy used by perpetrators to make the child feel indebted. Trust is further built by sharing intimate life details, going on special outings and giving the child access to things they normally wouldn’t get. Once the offender has identified a child’s needs, they will try to be the “hero” to the child who gives them what they desire. Examples include gifts, extra attention, or affection. This causes the child to see them as highly important and even idolized. They won’t want to upset them in risk of not getting the void in their life fulfilled.
4. Isolating - The groomer actively tries to isolate the child from people who may be watchful or helpful. This kind of isolation creates deeper connection & dependency. The offender also exhibits exemplary behaviour before parents of the victim & manipulates them into trusting the relationship. They will use this trust to create situations in which they are alone with the child. Time spent alone also reinforces the “special connection” the child feels they have with the offender. This “special connection” is further reinforced when the offender convinces the child that they love and appreciate them more than anyone else.
5. Initiating sexual contact - With the power over the child victim established through emotional connection coercion or one of the other tactics, the perpetrator may eventually initiate physical contact with the victim. It may begin with touching that is not overtly sexual (though a predator may find it sexually gratifying) and that may appear to be casual (arm around the shoulder, pat on the knee, etc.). Gradually, the perpetrator may introduce more sexualized touching. By breaking down inhibitions and desensitizing the child, the perpetrator can begin overtly touching the child. At this stage, the offender will exploit a child’s natural curiosity through physical touch and excitement. They will begin to teach the child sexual preferences and manipulate what the child responds to. The child begins to see themselves as a sexual being prematurely and the relationship with the offender now takes on a sexual term.
6. Post-abuse maintenance - The goal of the final stage is to ensure the child remains trapped in the cycle of abuse and loyal to the abuser, by either reinforcing and maintaining trust in order to prevent disclosure, or by explicitly threatening or blackmailing the child or their loved ones. This can also be reinforced and maintained by, for instance, giving the child affection, praise or encouragement for one’s actions.

A common question and critique, both in feminist literature and in (online) feminist spaces, is ”Why aren’t the good men doing more for women? Why are they still so passive despite being the 'good' ones?”
Okay, so the answer is actually pretty simple.
At best, these self-proclaimed or so-called "good men" don’t care as long as it isn’t inconvenient for them personally.
At worst, they either secretly or openly enjoy women‘s oppression, humiliation, violation — both due to mere sadism and due to the fact that they actively benefit from it, personally as well as systemically.
That‘s why "good men" are nearly non-existent. Some might be allies when it comes to certain topics (though probably not for genuine women-oriented reasons, and yes, intention matters), however, they‘ll still be misogynistic and oppressive in other ways, or tolerate those who are.
And the concept of a "good men" who‘s "passive" is completely ridiculous. If you, as a member of the oppressor class who‘s advantaged by our systemic & worldwide oppression all the damn time, think that not doing anything makes you "good", you‘re merely a bystander, and hence a (silent) enabler. Not a "good man who‘s just being passive".
Silence is complicity.
They don’t deserve to be labelled as "good". Not harming us with their own hands is the barest minimum. And we deserve to raise our standards, and we also deserve that our sisters raise theirs.
Women for Women. That‘s it. That‘s the only way.

Went on a transandrophobia truther blog and instantly saw this ..
1) love the slight of hand where he says "being trans" instead of actually identifying any positionality or god forbid mentioning WOMANHOOD as a type of positionality in his post which allows him to call trans women men and completely disregard the experience of the closested trans WOMAN. Telling that your argument hinges on "after transitioning to a man I am exactly the same as a woman undercover as a man"
2) just say you're not on T and you don't know anyone who is. Like as someone who's passed as male on an off for my whole life and now fully passes as male all the time thanks to T I low key snorted reading this... Liiike let's be for real here passing as a man (and doubly so if u are binary and have the pronouns to match) and passing gives you privilege out the fucking wazoo and I literally think about it every time I leave the house, meet new people, take blue collar jobs, interact w people on public transit, walk around at night, go to gay clubs, bond w male overseers, look for roommates, etc. This is obviously extremely racialized as much as it is gendered, but there is literally not a single "privilege" I had as a girl (that was assumed to be a guy 50-70% of the time) that I lost as a guy.
3) Also how do trans men "inherently defy patriarchal manhood" I literally know a trans guy who went to jail for domestic violence against a woman like trans men are incredibly capable of accessing and enacting patriarchy and thinking ourselves justified in accessing patriarchal homosociality. Like we are literally becoming men and we don't just magically exit the patriarchal society because we aren't the men at the top of the make food chain.... a la R.W. Connel. Being trans men means we lose some for being trans but we win some because we are men. Like gay men are frequently denied their masculinity but it would be dodo brained to act like gay men have no male homosociality they can access or that no gay man has ever accessed male homosociality. Like if u believe that you actually don't know any gay history Attttt Alllllll 😭 like genuinely. We also earn more money per dollar than women in our same gender modality, that doesn't sound like "inherently defying patriarchal manhood" to me that sounds actually like a pretty typical social positionality for oppressed and marginalized men. Like in my own friend groups, at school, and in my music and promotions scene being an (openly trans) man actually has granted me actually a lot of homosociality that I can draw on.

Prince hello, if you don't mind me asking. Why do you love Bea so much? I mean what about her moves you so much? I'm curious to know, because it comes across in your art, you view her with so much love that it's palpable in your lines, and her eyes are just oh god, it's the eyes for me, you capture the softness of her eyes perfectly. I mean I love her a lot too, but I'd like to hear from you what does Bea mean to you? How do you see her?
seeing this first thing in the morning certainly woke me up ngl
i suppose part of it is seeing myself in her, being queer and asian and coming from a strict religious household. but i think more of it is just how she is, ykow?
like, bea is kind. and she might make mistakes but she always does her best to own up to them. she cares so deeply for her friends, her family. at the core of it all like bea is good yknow? and doing her best 🥹👍🏼 despite the horrors

tagged by @alyxmastershipper @anxieteandbiscuits @bucks118 thank u lovelies!!!!! finally reopened fleabag au on the planee and wrote two whole scenes so. enjoy! (everything is tagged fleabag au if u wanna catch up)
Buck clears his throat. “New sermon?” “No, no, no, no,” Eddie snatches the notebook out of his hands before Buck can get a good look at it, “That’s uh—” His cheeks flood with pink and Buck raises his eyebrows, incredibly intrigued. He doesn’t think he would be surprised if Eddie said he writes porn in his spare time. The man is a deep well of confusing mysteries. Eddie must see the challenge in his eyes, because he sighs, resigned. “I write restaurant reviews?” he says, cringing at himself, “for the parish newsletter.” “Oh if that’s all,” Buck jokes, “I thought it was some very unholy gay smut or something.” Eddie chokes on his sip of beer, letting out a strangled laugh. His whole face is red now. Interesting. “No, it’s—I was just finishing this one up. My—I just came up with a really good title for it actually.” Buck narrows his eyes at the slip up. My…wife? My partner? But priests can’t be married, right? My grandma? Please let it be his grandma. “What is it?” Buck asks. “No,” Eddie slowly shakes his head, clutching the book closer to him. Buck narrows his eyes at him. “Come on.” “It’s not cool.” “Neither are we.” Eddie closes his eyes like he’s about to confess a mortifying secret. “I’d spend forty days and forty nights in that dessert.” Buck just stares at him. Eddie stares back. “Told you it wasn’t cool.” Buck laughs, “Well at least you’re pretty,” he says, and it has the desired effect of making that beautiful shade of pink rush back into Eddie’s cheeks. “Shit,” Eddie says suddenly, eyes catching on the clock on the wall, “I have to go.” He takes one last hurried sip of his beer and grabs his jacket from a hook on the wall. “Feel free to hang out, finish your beer, um…” he trails off, one arm in his jacket sleeve, one hand on the doorknob. “See you tomorrow?” Buck finishes. Eddie’s eyebrows scrunch in that infuriatingly cute way again. “Tomorrow?” He asks. “For the garden party fundraiser thing?” Buck says slowly. “Oh,” Eddie blinks, “You were serious about that?” “Yeah,” Buck shrugs, “‘Course.” “Cool,” Eddie says slowly, the corners of his mouth twitching, “You can come around three.” “Cool.” Buck says. Eddie just stares at him for one more beat, something inscrutable in his brown eyes, and then he turns and shuts the door behind him, leaving Buck with a picture of Jesus on the ground, a half-finished beer and a million unholy thoughts about a goddamn priest.
i know wednesday is almost over but tagging @911onabc @diazass @buck2eddie if u wanna share anything <3

thinking about sam and mary. the parallels between young mary and sam, both desperate to escape from their families and hunting towards a 'normal' life (neither of them escape in the end). their respective partners, intended as a way out, end up reenacting a history of violence running through their family tree. jess dies like sam's mother, pinned to the ceiling in flames. john becomes samuel in mary's absence - the very hunter patriarch mary was running from. sam named after samuel her father - the same father who kisses her while possessed by a demon. a kiss that comes to fruition when said demon feeds his blood to a baby sam at the crib; a violation she 'allowed' for, that she is unable to stop, that destroys her in the end. azazel as the ghost of incest and csa haunting the campbell family line. when sam gets resurrected without a soul, it's grandpa he partners and hunts with (what is the price of a grandson, but an expendable cost in service of protecting a daughter you've failed?)
mary as the ghost haunting sam's family, the absence eating away at his brother and father. sam as the ghost of mary's destruction; she haunts her husband and other son through him. sam as a site of formative trauma for both john and dean, the catalyst for another cycle of patriarchal violence; from john to dean, from dean to sam. by protecting him, they revisit that trauma in circles. they can't save her, but they can protect sam. sam feels dirtywrong, long before he learns of his blood, because what is a ghost if not an evil to be hunted, trauma to be exorcised by flame?
the demon blood from mary's deal as sam's unbreakable cage. her blood curse forever marking him as abnormal, as prey to both hunters and demons alike.
she asks him, after her resurrection, didn't you get out? when he tells her - my family hunts, it's what we do - she grieves for him, for herself. mary is the question to which sam is the answer.

was kind of hoping g5 would explain where tf the rest of the pony population is, honestly. its hard to believe that every unicorn/pegasi/earth pony was compressed down into their respective towns/cities.
mym had a rough time juggling it's story so im not surprised this was never fleshed out more but--if they had the chance in a future series--i would love to see that. getting more into it below the cut (loosing it i fear):
back when we only had the movie i had a theory that there had been a major conflict that ultimately ended in the pony populations plummeting; and that ultimately fueling twilights decision to seal away their magic in the crystals--which would lead to the races separating after the fact. eventually, by some form or fashion, the crystals were separated (maybe stolen....?) between bridlewood, maretime bay, and zephyr heights.
however opaline being introduced in mym tripped up this theory to the point where it's pretty obvious that's not what happened--or at least not exactly. discord alludes to something too terrible to describe in the comics so there's that? (also "mane-ificent 7"??? lmfao)
Tumblr media
not even mentioning how this page utterly destroys the "magic removal resulting in pony exodus" theory; because it seems unified-equestria was able to exist for a while longer after the crystals were created:
Tumblr media
perhaps opaline instigated more conflict in the following years (after the mane 6 have died off...?) which ultimately resulted in magic failing the ponies. if not her, then im sure the hard work the of our g4 girlies slowly faded because the equestria became too comfortable, and perhaps stopped fighting for unity. (another point i remember appreciating when we only had the movie to go off of:)
Tumblr media
if so, that then brings up the question of HOW DID THE CRYSTAL GET SPLIT BETWEEN THE RACES BEFORE THE MOVIE???
did argyle find the earth pony piece during a history excursion or was it passed down to him??? how did alphabittle get the respective unicorn piece??? the pegasus crystal was literally a part of queen haven's crown--was there a point where all pony types swiped the crystals following the failing of unity to PREVENT the other races from using it against them???
but then???? we had the whole thing with elder flower and her fuckass story about a bat and web and whatever tf that implies that the time passed between g4 and g5 is way shorter than i anticipated??? also "opaline was here the whole time guys we swear. dont you remember our good friend opaline??? the opaline who was CHILDHOOD FRIENDS with LUNA and CELESTIA in SKYROS???"
Tumblr media
so maybe the equestria we've seen so far (as of chapter 6) is just a pocket of the current pony population, but if so, does that also imply that the other settlements are ALSO hostile towards other pony types? because wouldn't the unity crystals have been unrestricting magic to some extent (depending on how many ponies/creatures were collectively getting along)? the simplest answer is that the writers failed to think ahead but i wanna give them the chance to reveal a little more because there are still MAJOR things we dont understand.

The fact that Clothar has repeatedly mentioned how taboo it is that he had an illegitimate child with a non-Khaenri'ahn.
How his family had plans for him that misaligned with how he wanted to live his life with the one he truly loved.
In addition, he is still clearly and vehemently against the archons and worshipping them.
.
.
.
And then we remember Kaeya.
Kaeya, who has implied that he is not a full-blooded Khaenri'ahn.
Kaeya, who may possibly be a child the main Alberich line would have hated or ostracized had the cataclysm not have happened.
Kaeya who is now dubbed by their father as their "Last Hope".
Kaeya, who was left in the city of freedom. The same man who frequently drinks with the very archon his countrymen would have wanted to see dead.
Do you see how it seems like the tables have turned? How the world turned upside-down with just 1 cataclysmic event?
Kaeya is always contradictory to the common definition of the words he is described as on the surface. He is a cryo user who loves the summer season. He is a knight who schemes and plots in the dark. He is a Khaenri'ahn who wants the freedom of Mondstadt.
