#anti john boyega
Note
anti-reylo sentiment still strong in the year of our lord 2023 i see.. idk i wasn't literally everywhere but in the part of the reylo community i was involved in finn was well-loved?? usually in fics & stuff he was written as rey's very good friend/essentially family to her. that said john boyega was a little nasty after tros lmao "it's not about who kisses her it's about who lays the pipe" like. the insistence that his character is totally gonna fuck her first & it matters? not that i'd hate finn the character for that or even john boyega himself but it was gross and it's a weird thing to defend

i KNOW there's a huge wave of Annabeth and Leah hate coupled with Luke/Percy bullshit that's just gonna be a second wave of what Reylos did to Finn and John only this time even worse because it's gonna be what's basically child abuse since Leahbeth is fucking 14.I am fucking sick and tired of black characters and even black actors existing next to white faves being seen as inherently 'problematic' but grown ass white men who're fascists and into people way too young for them being seen as 'womanly fantasies' and 'gay love stories'

I forgot to do this yesterday on here but Happy Anniversary to one of the greatest tweets known to mankind, and to the war that it started for months afterwards.
John really said “The Mouse’s check cleared, I’m fucking free!”.

But seriously it was such a wild experience seeing white women with #blm in their Twitter bios decide Mechad Brooks and John Boyega’s experiences with racism were invalid last summer because they disliked them. Now that I’ve finished White Tears/Brown Scars I get the psychology a little better, but the lack of self awareness was fascinating.

People are really gonna get mad at him for not liking the movie that sidelined his character from leading role to comic relief

Daisy Ridley must be getting paid good if she’s willing to return to “Star Wars” after the debacle that was the Sequel Trilogy. My question now is, what would this movie even be? Is it Episode X or just its own thing? Also, considering how negative Oscar Isaac and John Boyega’s experiences were, is this new movie just going to casually write out Finn and Poe? Because that’d be a little clumsy considering that those two are Rey’s closest friends.
(EDIT: Or they can pay Oscar and John enough money to buy a new mansion. That’s probably the only way they can agree to come back)
I guess we’ll see how this goes. My confidence for this new movie is pretty low, but I’m willing to see where they take Rey’s story. At the very least, I’m hoping this movie will actually treat Rey as her own character rather than as a plot device to tell another character’s story, but that’s just me.

When you start thinking "you know I haven't seen my boy Finn in a while. I miss him. Maybe I should rewatch the sequel trilogy..." do NOT listen okay!!!! That is the DEVIL talking!!!!!! He is enticing you with John Boyega's stellar portrayal of the legendary Finn Star Wars but it's really a TRAP. It is a TRAP okay! Starwutuals (star wars mutuals) we have to stand together on this guys. Present a united front here otherwise we're not going to be able to survive

I think some of yall that are still going on mad af about The Woman King and the fact that their tribe and city profited off of slavery are forgetting that those characters were the protagonist of the story. Now if we remember what a few of us learned in school, the protagonist is not necessarily a good person. They're just the main character. Who the story is about. You can have a compelling story without there being a clear morally good person. Thats history. Good people weren't a thing. The Woman King isn't about, look at these good people who live in their good city and only ever do good things and fight evil people. The Woman King is about these real people with their real problems, real greed, real dangers, and real relationships with each other. It's from their point of view because we're supposed to want them to succeed. If you're watching a movie based off of history and getting mad the protagonist isn't a good guy then you're just gonna stay mad cause there were no people who were good in every aspect of their life, politically or personally.

Thinking back on the John boyega situation, it’s really pathetic The fact that calling out racist fans is met with people saying that" You're being horrible". Yet never addressing the actual racism displayed is really telling about how complicit people are with Anti-black racism.
And the lack of solidarity and allies that don’t point this out and just roll their eyes when things like this happen is embarrassing, teach your family, friends, talk about it on social media and let people know that racism is reprehensible. Not black child should look at their hero fighting racism and it be met with more racism than Anti racism.

This here is the reason why Daisy Ridley did not wish her favorite peanut a happy birthday publicly. Hint (the last time she did she was bullied to the point of deleting her Instagram page)

I want everyone who goes “hmmm but JJ set up nothing for Finn and put him in a coma at the end of the film so he never meant for Finn/John Boyega to be the lead” to understand:
First of all: No :)
Secondly: Hold onto this same energy for Rian Johnson regarding Rose Tico/Kelly Marie Tran
Because the Venn diagram that is people who claim JJ was the one who did Finn/John dirty and the people who claim Rian Johnson didn’t treat Rose Tico/Kelly dirty is a circle.
Rian only wrote Rose in because he thought “it’d be really boring” for Finn & Poe to go on an adventure together. He then erased a scene where Finn & Paige would’ve been together when Paige died, which could’ve given us a chance for Finn & Rose to actually bond over something but nope (Point 5 on the list).
Rian wrote Rose to ‘contrast’ with Finn (Point 8 in last link) but really just had her explain slavery and be part of a “war is bad” storyline for Finn? The same Finn who had been stolen as a baby and raised in a brainwashed boot camp to be a child soldier for an evil facist regime?
“Oh he gave her more screen time than in TROS.” He gave her ten minutes. Ten minutes out of a 2 and a half hour slog of a movie. Yes the difference of time is a bit drastic (ten minutes to almost 2) but it’s not that much when you put it against the actual length of the entire movie.
Overall, Rian also did Rose/Kelly dirty. Just like how he did with Finn/John. And I don’t trust people who only mentions her when talking negatively about anyone else (aka not Rian) involved in the making of Star Wars.

Because I like to suffer apparently, I did spend this morning looking through fun tweets and posts like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s hilarious that folks who made jokes like the ones below, were so comfortable calling this man a predator, because apparently talking about two characters banging is only misogynistic when it doesn’t involve your ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For whatever it’s worth calling someone you like or admire a king or queen is pretty typical in AAVE, but sure bust out that armchair psychology. The Black man would only respond positively to praise out of sociopathy or narcissism. Because no celeb on social media ever likes a compliment.
Tumblr media
But the most depressing part was this was the attitude I’ve seen over and over again that boils down to the idea that Black actors just needing to shut up, smile, never defend themselves, and know their place:

I’m exhausted reading through this nonsense so I can’t imagine living through it. I don’t blame John Boyega for losing patience with these people.
