Last one I promise, but damn it's so good to get this off my chest. You mentioning Rachel slapping Santana brought this one again, but someone made a post there last week about Santana deserving to get slapped by Rachel after the understudy issue. How Rachel was incredibly graceful to let Santana live there but Santana showed "narcissistic behavior" by following her to get a reaction out of her. Post got over 100 upvotes.
Rachel supporters didn't condemn Rachel for slapping Santana at all but rather explained why she finally clapped back (how satisfying it was to see her do so) and some even saying she deserved it, agreeing with the person who posted. The people that said no it wasn't deserved got downvoted immediately. They didn't want to even consider other people's opinions. One person commented that saying someone deserved to be physically assaulted is a bit harsh also got downvoted. To that person they responded with instances where Santana physically assaulted people like Rory and Quinn, but that's not what the thread was about. Those people then got massively upvoted. They like to do that whenever someone tries to defend Santana. Use moments where Santana was bad when it has nothing to do with the thread just so that Rachel can look good for their point.
Again, like to reiterate, thanks for speaking about this here. I probably would have thought I was the problem if I didn't notice that other people notice the problems on that sub too.
It's funny that people will bring up Santana slapping Quinn and Finn when it comes to Rachel slapping her. But when it comes to bashing her for slapping Finn- for fucking outing her- not one word about Finn assaulting Puck and Brody and trying to pull Quinn out of her wheelchair. I brought the wheelchair thing up once and the response was, "he didn't actually do it, plus they were both at fault!!"
Again, a double standard. People never hold Finn- the cis straight white man- accountable for his behavior. It's always he didn't do anything wrong, if he did then it was justified, if it's not then it's understandable. He called a baby the r-slur and people defend him because of the actions of her mother.
Meanwhile, Santana and Quinn get crucified for lesser offenses. Fun fact, neither one of them have ever used a slur. Finn's used two, one of which being entirely unprompted. No one even mentioned Down Syndrome or anything else, he just said it to be cruel because he knew it would hurt. He does that shit constantly, like when he called Brittany stupid. What makes me mad about this is that she hadn't even done anything wrong. All she did was switch teams- which is entirely her right- and he decided it was okay to insult her.
And you know what Brittany did? She didn't resort to calling Finn names or belittling him like he tried to do with Santana. All she did was tell him he was wrong and walk away. She showed him grace even though he sure as hell didn't deserve it. That's usually how decent people handle their issues with others. Finn was not decent.
But circling back to Rachel, I've watched that scene a lot. And no one ever brings up the fact that Rachel was the one who started with the insults. She was the one who started talking down to Santana, she was the one who wouldn't shut the fuck up. And in her rant, Rachel didn't slap her when Santana called her names. Rachel slapped her when she said she was just as good as her.
It was never about the insults, it was always about Rachel's fragile ego. If Tina or Brittany had auditioned to be her understudy, she wouldn't have cared because neither of them are as good as her. If it had been Mercedes, she would have had the exact same reaction (maybe even worse) because she's threatened by Mercedes (that's canon, as shown in season 3 and season 5) just like she's threatened by Santana. It has nothing to do with her relationships with either of them, it has everything to do with Rachel lashing out whenever she feels threatened.
The proof is literally in season 2. Sunshine was a complete stranger who she knowingly could have killed due to her insecurity. Whenever Rachel perceives a threat, it's like a switch flips in her brain. It's happened so many times before.
And even if it was about the insults and Santana's past actions, that just makes Rachel look worse. She's the one who wanted Santana to live with them, she's the one who chose to keep Santana in her life. She made a conscious decision to be around Santana. If she was still harboring resentment, why would she do that?
Because the only way to cope with Santana's (and Quinn's) bullying was the belief that she would be on top once high school was over. That she could look down on her once popularity didn't mean anything. She openly admits this in season 2. This heavily implies that she kept Santana around to feel superior to her, and what better way to do that than to keep her close so she could flaunt that in person? So when Santana broke out of the box Rachel put her in, she flipped out. It's a pattern of behavior with Rachel.
Rachel is a good character in seasons 1 and 2. She gets called out, admits to her mistakes, and tries to be better. She's still annoying, but it's alleviated by the other characters balancing her out. The new writers really screwed up with her, especially in season 5, by giving her everything she wants no matter how terribly she acts.

Glee -Tina rants about not getting a nationals solo 3x20
Rachel Berry is truly one of the most disgusting, self-righteous, and selfish Glee characters ever. I understand how her fans may admire her talent and ambition (I like those qualities as well and she does have her soft moments) but am truly bewildered how they can excuse all her awful behaviour.
I hate how Mercedes and Tina are demonized when they express valid frustrations with Rachel favouritism. Glee is a choir - meaning it’s a team effort. It’s not the “Rachel and her backup” group.
I watched this video and I remembered a user here on Tumblr said Rachel was the Anakin of Glee and I literally feel sick. The comparison is surface level at best. Anakin who was constantly rejected by the Jedi vs Rachel who gets everything handed on a silver platter (she was bullied, so what? who still got all the solos!!!). Rachel never faces any real consequences for her actions while Anakin suffered a fate worse than death when he became Vader. Rachel is not some super-talented chosen one. She’s definitely one of the best in Glee but she’s not THE best. Everyone in Glee has their talents and the group did well enough without Rachel as lead several times. So much talent in Glee was squandered because Rachel refused to share the spotlight.
Btw screw Mike Chang. This guy had the worst boyfriend moment in Glee in this nasty episode. Sure the other couples have cheated (what else is new in Glee) but Mike completely threw Tina under the bus. Tike was probably the healthiest teen relationship in Glee but the writers loved randomly using Mike to hurt Tina. Tina and Jenna deserved better.

I believe that if you have been active on the Glee subreddit in the last 5-10 years, particularly in the pandemic era, you deserve financial compensation, a Medal of Honor, literally anything for being in the trenches on that thread. Every time I log on to check and see what’s up, they are literally posting the most rancid takes and excusing homophobia or racism or both. It was truly were nuance and analysis would go to die, especially for characters like Santana and Quinn who didn’t fit into the nice near boxes of the show.
If your a fellow deserter/former member, you have my upmost respect

Bingo Ask Game: Finn & Rachel
hi sophie! thanks for the ask!
finn:
Tumblr media
i adore finn. there’s something so endearing about him that makes me so happy. cory did an absolutely brilliant job, i could talk about his acting choices forever. finn’s story in s4 was incredible and worked so beautifully for his character and i will forever mourn the fact that we didn’t get to see where it went. i miss him.
rachel:
Tumblr media
not gonna get too in-depth on this. she’s a difficult character for me, and i don’t think that’ll ever change.
send me characters!!

Thoughts on people calling Hummelberry platonic soulmates? I’m a little shocked at how often I hear that on Tumblr.
anon...i hate it so, so much!! it’s one of the things i hate most about the kurt fandom, and it bugs me so much that people are so willing to discredit what blaine means to kurt in favor of pushing rachel as his “soulmate.” like, i’ll never forget that ridiculous set of posts and asks going around claiming that kurt and blaine were never best friends and that if kurt had to choose between them, he’d always pick rachel over blaine.
that had me completely shocked at the sheer delusion of kurt stans - blaine is kurt’s husband, his best friend, the ‘best thing that’s ever happened to him’ (kurt’s words not mine), and someone that he thinks is worth everything that they’ve been through together - and you do not get to completely dismiss that just because you don’t like blaine.
on a story level...it’s so fucking crazy to me that hardcore kurt stans genuinely believe that it was blaine that ruined kurt’s character, while praising hummelberry even though his relationship with rachel was more often than not one-sided, kurt was frequently relegated to a prop for her character, and both the narrative and rachel herself considered him her ‘gay best friend.’
i can’t name a single episode in which kurt only exists to prop up blaine, and i don’t want to get into the fan war of whether kurt or blaine was the better boyfriend...but i would like to point out that blaine was created to be an accessory to kurt’s character, not vice versa, and kurt was never, ever treated as just a prop with blaine. but with hummelberry, i can name four episodes off the top of my head in which kurt’s sole purpose is to prop up rachel - and they’re all in a single season. the entire show is much worse.
also...kurt and blaine’s dynamic never diminished kurt’s personality. people will go on and on and whine about don’t cry for me argentina, while ignoring that he was genuinely trying to help him fit in with the warblers, and how in the same episode rachel makes kurt’s request for help all about herself with her insane funeral talk. same with prom queen - blaine wasn’t trying to take away kurt’s self-expression, he was afraid of getting hurt again after his past trauma. i just...i don’t get how people can say that blaine took away kurt’s unique personality when things like this exist.
there’s also the fact that kurt was never, ever afraid to stand up to blaine and tell him whenever blaine was doing something that kurt didn’t like. but with rachel, he constantly let her walk all over him, and it felt like his soul was getting sucked out of him with every repetitive scene where he told her how amazing she was and did everything she demanded of him, no matter how much of his own personal happiness he had to sacrifice.
look...i understand not being a fan of klaine and not liking that a big portion of kurt's storylines heavily featured blaine. that’s fine. but i really and truly do not understand how you could be a fan of kurt and think his dynamic with rachel was better than his relationship with blaine, especially when it comes to the whole ‘platonic soulmates’ bullshit.
and imo it’s ridiculous to act like his storylines with blaine did a giant disservice to him and ruined his character, because he never changed himself for blaine and always remained the same headstrong, take-no-shit person whenever they were together. it was only with rachel that he turned into someone else, the mindless sidekick and yes-man. i don’t believe kurt’s character was ever really ruined, but the only one making it worse was rachel, not blaine.

Can you rank these characters?:
Santana, Rachel, Kurt, Quinn, Brittany, Blaine, Tina and Mercedes
I’m going to preface this by saying that every single Glee character is at least 90% problematic due to a problematic writing team and being over ten years old now (cultural context matters, y’all), so don’t @ me about my faves (and therefore me) being racist or whatever. I get it. Everyone on Glee kinda sucks. That’s why we all hate Glee and hate ourselves for loving it, okay? It was pretty progressive at the time, and without characters like Santana and Kurt paving the way, we’d probably never have got some of the slightly better LGBT rep we have now, so shhh. Leave them alone. They’re trying their best.
Now that we’ve got that out the way, rankings are under the cut yo...
1. Santana
Problematic queen. As above, I recognise that she has many, many faults. In fact, I appreciate them. I might even love her more for them, actually. It humanises her in a way that I, also a bitch, am able to really resonate with. Santana is tough, quick to anger and she speaks her mind a little too often without regard for consequences. But she is often held to account for doing so. Y’all just choose to forget that because it’s a lot easier to tear her down if you ignore the fact that she’s canonically pretty much always punished by the other characters for lashing out. All that aside, she’s strong, loves fiercely, and she’s loyal as hell to those she cares about. Give me more flawed lesbian characters like her please. Seriously, I want more of them. Where are they?
Also this scene changed my life, so Santana (and Naya) are always, always going to have a special place in my heart:
Tumblr media
2. Quinn
Repressed-lesbian queen. The show did her so dirty, but holy hell Dianna made it work. I love Quinn with every part of my heart not already dedicated to loving Santana. She’s sassy, she’s smart, and she’s got so much trauma that she probably has to pay excess baggage fees every time she flies back to Lima. I hate how the other characters (except for her wife, Rachel Berry) got mad at her in s3 for having an identity crisis and acting out, because like... her mental health was clearly in decline, yet they still had the gall to call her a spoilt rich kid after everything she’d been through?? Teen pregnancy, homelessness, giving up her baby??? Finn kicked chairs whenever someone hid his drumsticks and NO ONE gave him a hard time over that. I wish we’d seen more of Quinn post-graduation, but I don’t blame her for not wanting to visit people who treated her like that, especially given that regular trips to LA, to see her only real friend, Mercedes Jones, probably took up most of her free-time during college.
Anyway, I’m grateful for what we did get, and that Quinn learnt she didn’t need a man to validate her worth because she was freakin’ amazing all on her own. Quick who? I also love, love, LOVE that despite initially dismissing her raging homosexuality after her ‘two-time thing’ with Santana, Quinn eventually came to terms with the fact that she was a lesbian, and found the courage to confess her feelings for Rachel after the Tony Awards during the Glee series finale. It was truly the Faberry endgame we deserved after what initially seemed like years of relentless queer-baiting, so I was pleasantly surprised the writers didn’t go down that route. Poetic cinema. 10/10
Lesbian icon. Look at her GO!
Tumblr media
3. Rachel
Ambitious Queen. I used to hate her, but then while re-watching realised my pure hatred for Lea Michele was significantly clouding my judgement. Rachel Berry is hilarious guys. I wish she was held more to account for her actions sometimes, which I’ve ranted about on here before so I won’t go into it, and I also wish every character didn’t bow to her every whim like she was this huge talent and the rest of them weren’t (because they ALL WERE). Nonetheless, I love her, and I love Lea’s facial expressions/comedic timing even more. Girl gets me cackling at least twice an episode.
Rachel Berry knows who she is, and she’s not afraid to fight for what she deserves, even when everyone else is laughing at her for it. We could all learn something from her, to be honest.
Tumblr media
Now that we’re out of the top 3, the rest are all really close and I’ve changed the order like twenty-seven times already, so these numbers are kinda meaningless. Agh. I love them all, okay?
4. Mercedes
Talented Queen. She should be higher on this list. Aside from being epically talented, it is also an undisputed fact that Mercedes Jones is the world’s best friend. I can and will fight anyone who disagrees with me on that.
Allllso, I’m not religious by any means, but Mercedes choosing not to compromise her faith by sleeping with Sam before she was ready? Queen shit. I wish we saw more of that on TV, because all too often high school characters hook up really early in these kinds of shows, and it sets a false expectation that... isn’t true for a lot of people. The truth is sometimes people do wait, or just don’t feel ready for a number of other reasons. I love that Mercedes didn’t back down on that, because she didn’t want to yet, which is more than enough of a reason to say no.
5. Kurt & Brittany
I simply could not choose between them. Sorry, not sorry.
Brittany
Genius queen. Brittany is hilarious, and Heather’s comedic timing is so, so good. She’s one half of Brittana, so I feel bad for ranking Santana so much higher than her on this list because I absolutely love everything Brittany did for Santana, and the entire Brittana dynamic. I feel like they understood each other so well, and were really good for each other. They’re a two-shot.
I dunno. I just don’t feel like the writers put much thought into Brittany as a character, and sometimes I hate that she got away with a lot of stuff that characters like Santana, Quinn or Rachel would’ve been raked over the coals for, just because people saw her as stupid. Like... she was just as racist as Santana/Sue were at times, and definitely just as much of a bitch, but in both the show, and in fandom, we tend to ignore that because she was more softly spoken/innocent, and ‘stupid,’ despite being a literal MIT genius. It bothers me.
Anyway, I like how open Brittany always was with her sexuality, and how she helped Santana come to terms with that side of herself too, without letting herself be walked all over in the process. I feel like her characterisation was probably one of the most inconsistent out of all of the New Directions throughout the series so I struggle to always enjoy her when she’s on screen. For example, season 3/4 Britt kind of annoys me, because she didn’t really exist outside of her relationships and, beyond a few baseline character traits, was often moulded each episode to fit the storyline, which made her feel like some sort of empty, dancing plot-vessel. Season 2, 5 and 6 Brittany, on the other hand, is one of my favourites because I feel like the writers put a bit more thought into it when they gave her something to do and, even when she was in a relationship, she had a little bit more autonomy. So I’m conflicted, which is why she lands in the middle of this list.
Kurt
Iconic Queen. I love how unapologetically himself Kurt was, even in the face of homophobic losers and literal violence. If I could have half of Kurt’s courage in life, I’d be a happy gal. Also he’s so TALENTED guys. And a GOOD FRIEND. And FUNNY. Gyah. Love him. Love that he got a happy ending. Love that he was successful. Love that he found eventual happiness and safety in Blaine. Love his fashion sense. HATE that he didn’t get into NYADA after his first audition but LOVE that he bounced back and got in later. Love his entire New York character arc, actually. Love that he held his ground against the other characters when it came to stuff he cared about. The list goes on. Love Chris Colfer. Love, love, love.
“She’s dead, this is her son.” KURT, PLEASE
6. Tina
All I will say, is that she deserved better. And I don’t blame her for turning into a bitter, angry person in the later seasons, because the other characters repeatedly mistreated and undervalued her, and the writers did too. That’s the only reason why she’s so low on this list, because SHE DESERVED BETTER.
7. Blaine
No opinion. He’s fine, I guess. I love how dramatic he can be. Makes me lol sometimes. Wouldn’t have minded if he had a few less solos.

Are you saying the whole glee club bullied Rachel? Because it's not like she was any better to them, especially seeing as shes supposed to be this leader in charge doing what's best for the club
Yeah she’s awful? Like i don’t really like her or anything and I get why they were mean to her but I don’t really think that condones a lot of the bullying she got.
I mean, really they were all annoying and self cantered at times, Rachel was just unapologetic about it and though that for sure isn’t a good thing (just like it isn’t a good thing that Santana’s a bitch just because she’s unapologetic about it) it doesn’t mean all the shit she got was completely justified?
And honestly she shouldn’t be considered the leader, that’s Wills whole purpose, if he’s not leading what the hells this man doin?? (This is directed at the writers, not at you anon, cause I know it’s like canon that she was their ‘leader’ I’m just saying that was a dumb writing choice lol)

as i lay awake at three in the morning last night, i was struck with a cursed and horrid jatp fic idea and now i need to share it all with you.
so, julie needs a way to get the boys caught up on modern music, right. but since during most of their time to do that she's at school, she won't be there to guide them through the important things, so she shows them glee. because, well, glee hit all the important stuff while it was on. and at first they all hate it, but then each of them find moments and characters that really speak to them, like I think luke would be a die hard mercedes stan, ofc reggie would love his fellow country himbo sam, and alex would just be blown away by the fact that there was two cannonic queer couples as well as multiple trans characters on a mainstream tv show. and after all of this, julie would have more of a sense in what directions to point them to find the songs they would like. it would be awful and horrible and I can't stop thinking about it

the back-up plan (5x18)
Stg i hated this so much. Not only does Rachel act like rules don’t apply to her and she can do whatever, the whole Blaine thing was terrible. Blaine/darren got literally EVERYTHING,  Chris didn’t get jack shit. Just let him have one thing!!!!?!!!!!one thing!!! He’s an amazing singer and RM just let his saltyness get in the way of letting him shine. Blaine got into NYADA on the first try, got a crap ton of solos and the lead in a musical. Kurt didn’t get into NYADA on the first try (totally should have though) barely got any solos, got treated like crap, family issues, and so much more. Not to be a Kurt stan but he deserved better.

Something that drives me nuts about the defense of Rachel by Glee fans, when someone says Mercedes is better, is that they argue Rachel works harder and is constantly rehearsing (which we’re told in season 1). But.
We have absolutely no idea about Mercedes’s schedule. You can say it’s just Amber, but the reality is Mercedes’s voice is well-trained (those growls would hurt your vocal cords if done wrong and damage your voice long-term). Mercedes must practice; she must rehearse. Not all of that is raw talent. There’s a lot of technique there. She has to have had vocal lessons of some sort. But the story isn’t focused on her; we aren’t told what she does to practice. (We really aren’t told much, if I remember correctly.)
So saying Rachel works harder feels a lot like racism and/or fatphobia. It’s like, Rachel must work harder because Mercedes must be lazy. Even when it’s clear Mercedes does put in work.

The Glee Subreddit: Rachel sending Sunshine to a cr*ckhouse wasn't even tHaT bAD
😐
Rachel fans complain about Santana or Quinn fans and then act like this. I'm not even a Rachel hater, but excusing/condoning what she does undercuts her character development. Especially because her development in season 2 was so good. Her character progression in the second season revolves around her taking accountability, owning up to her behavior, accepting consequences, and learning empathy. Stop taking that away from her and accept that she purposely did a bad thing that could have gotten a younger foreign exchange student seriously hurt.
It's also weird that there are so many Sunshine haters in that sub despite the fact that she was barely present in the season. Like, why is it that the one person who's solely a victim of Rachel's deliberate actions is so disliked by her fans🤨
(Probably because with Sunshine they can't use the excuse of, "well she was BULLIED😡")

I know that we’ve moved past this discourse but in my re-watch of Phases 1- 3 for Falcon and Winter Soldier I have a lot of thoughts on Age of Ultron and Civil War. In case you can’t tell by the large large portion of anti-Tony posts I reblogged over the past few days, I really dislike Tony Stark (which is it’s own post that I will get into at a later date) and a lot of it comes from his actions in the Age of Ultron and Civil War movies (for all my Glee fans who follow me who are unfamiliar this man is the Rachel Berry/Lea Michele of Marvel). I am full prepared to get hate for this as this is going to be disproving everyone’s favorite arms dealer that they like woobify for absolutely no reason. Also warning this is kind of a lengthy read
One of the first things we learn about Tony, in the first Iron Man movies is that he owns Stark industries which is known as a weapons manufacture for the US government. And while in the first movie he is confronted with the repercussions of this business, he only cares when its at the expense of American/his own life. So he decides to end his contract and he takes on the Iron Man mantle, which is a great starting arc for him (which shits the best the next three movies because he doesn’t actually learn anything). In Age of Ultron that is the first time he is experiencing the wrath of a country ravaged by his weapons. In Iron Man when he gets captured, he is traveling with Americans and on American military base and when he is captured it is by an fringe group that wants weapons, so even though he recognizes the his weapons have bad results, he still has no idea the impact it has on civilians who live in those countries. Enter Sokovia.
The Sokovians all hate Tony Stark and the rest of the avengers from what we can see. This is a country who has been victim of bombings by the United States air force for years, and as a result are living in a war torn society with limited resources and massive amounts of damage. The two most notable characters that we meet from Sokovia are Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, two teens who as children watched their parents and apartment building get blown up by a Stark bomb, which also trapped them. When we meet them in AOU we learn that they are working for Hydra and harbor deep intense hatred towards Tony Stark and they want to him to suffer like he has cause their suffering. Now before we move on lets clarify some misconceptions, the Maximoff’s believe they are joining SHIELD and not Hydra, this was at the time when SHIELD was massively inundated with people working for Hydra and as a result these kids were mislead into joining an organization they thought would protect their country. Note number 2, when Wanda and Pietro watch their parents get blown up Stark is still making bombs so the “Tony stopped building bombs” defense doesn’t really work here as it takes prior to the events of Iron Man 1.
So let’s talk about the Maximoff’s and Tony, a lot of Tony stans out there think that Wanda and Pietro were entirely unjustified in their hatred of Stark and believe that they(mainly Wanda) should be more at fault for the events surrounding Ultron, but there are several issues with that. One being that Pietro and Wanda are radicalized teens who believed they were joining an organization to help their country and have spent years orphaned and surviving on their own. Even though Tony didn’t directly bomb the country, he still made the bombs that they watched kill their parents, and the one that they saw laying in front of them trapping them in the rubble for days. This hatred for Tony, the Avengers, and the US, isn’t coming from no-where. These teens are victims of a larger issue that the US has that Tony helped foster, and sure while it might be slightly misplaced because Tony didn’t bomb them, if you saw that the man whose name was on a bomb that killed your parents, being treated like a hero in another, you’d be pretty pissed off (not to mention Tony misplaces he’s anger on Bucky when Hydra brainwashed him, more on that later). The second issue is that Tony and Bruce have started working on Ultron prior to the events of the movie, the only thing that comes out of the movie is the actual creation of the being with the scepter, so the creation of Ultron has nothing to do with Pietro or Wanda, all of that falls on Tony. Now I’m not saying the twins don’t do anything bad in the movie, they do, Wanda going into the Avengers minds is bad, working with Ultron is bad. However this is not a black and white situation and they believe that they are doing what is best for them and their country and the second they realize that Ultron is in fact the bad guy, they immediately switch sides to help out the Avengers. If the twins were truly bad people, they would have continued working with Ultron where they were promised a safe haven and a perfect life, something neither of them have experienced, but they don’t they not only help the Avengers but both of them are willing to sacrifice themselves as a result. Pietro does actually die trying to save Clint and Wanda almost dies before Vision comes and saves her. These teens are not not bad people with an ulterior motive, but trying to right a situation where they have been wronged.
So then we move onto Civil War, where things continue to get worse in regards to my feelings surrounding Tony. Before we jump into that we are going to address the issue of Wanda apologizing to Tony, the only thing Wanda would have to apologize to Tony for would be the mind invasion thing, that’s about it. Tony on the other hand has several instances where he should be apologizing to Wanda at a minimum and honestly he should probably apologize for his involvement about 95% of the time. Not to mention why harp on Wanda for not apologizing when we have no proof that she didn’t, I mean she’s living at the Avengers complex and Tony honestly seems to be the only one who has an issue with her so...
Now we are moving onto the much bigger issue, the accords. Tony only starts to believe in some kind of oversight when a woman confronts him about Sokovia and how her son died there and then Tony starts to recognize that “hmm maybe we should have someone keeping an eye on us”, not in the first three Iron Man movies when he cost people lives, or in the battle of NY, or hell even in Age of Ultron as he watched a country fall, the dude felt nothing. Now what’s worse in my opinion is that, it takes an American born citizen dying for Tony to even care. If Tony genuinely cared about what happened over there we would have seen it much sooner because he is living with someone who has lost three members of her family to decisions he made. But Tony doesn’t care because Wanda is not an American citizen. Not to mention rather then recognize his part in Ultron’s attack (as the primary created of their device) he pushes all their responsibilities to the Avengers as a whole which significantly eases his burden.
He gives the Avengers three days notice before the Accords need to be signed and that's a huge issue, anytime you are signing a legal document, particularly from the government, you want to check that thing and make sure you are not being taken advantage of in some kind of way. Tony knows this as a business man who worked with the government for years. It also makes sense that a lot of the Avengers would take issue with the accords. Tony is a rich white billionaire who is least impacted by what the accords want to implement, because his powers come from the suit he is subject to less harsh oversight then most of the others, so it’s no wonder why he thinks its a good idea. This is why he struggles when people try to explain to him otherwise, Tony has a rich billion are who has never had to work a day in his life is not going to understand the concerns of some one like Steve or Wanda or subjected to much more strict and harsh conditions. Not to mention, he has access to the best lawyers in the country and it is stated by Maria Hill in Marvel canon that no one in the government could touch Tony even if they wanted to because he holds that much power.
The interesting thing that comes out of this is how so many people hate Team Cap, team Cap never once said that they did not want their to be oversight and repercussions for their actions, they however wanted things to be fixed so that people were not signing their rights away and having them violated. Team Cap didn’t think that they should be able to run around doing whatever they want, they just want more clear terms. You do also realize that Peter is like Wanda and Steve and would have also been sent to the Raft or something like that because he is an enhanced individual. And it makes sense that Team Cap thinks this way because several of them are held to more strict standards as they have enhancements and the others have seen first hand the bad things that the government can do. And the funny thing is Team Cap gets proven right several times throughout the movie, we see when many of them are being held in the raft in inhumane conditions and are having their rights violated, we see this when several members switch sides or at a minimum end up recognizing that things were worse then they realized. The only person who starts pro accords and stays that way is Stark because he continues to be the only one not affected by them. Not to mention we see him continue to break them several times throughout the movie.
The other major issue with Tony in this movie is the way he treats Bucky and Steve. Now Steve and Tony have never liked each other and Tony has belittled Steve and his trauma from pretty much the first movie, now Bucky is a new character and we learn that he is responsible for the death of Tony’s parents as we was being used as a sleeper agent for Hydra who brainwashed him and turned him into a super soldier. Tony has every right to not handle learning that shit about his parents, but attempted murder and not being able to recognize external forces is a much larger issue. Tony Stans this is a personal call out for you, if you think that Tony is completely justified in trying to kill Bucky and Steve because Steve didn’t tell him about Bucky and Bucky was brainwashed, then that means the Maximoff’s and their anger towards Tony is justified equally, keep that energy the same babes.
These two movies show the biggest issue surrounding Tony which is his inability to take responsibility for his own actions. Tony has so so many flaws that get highlighted constantly that we just kind of glaze over because the fandom is in love with him for whatever reason. But one of his worst is that he doesn’t recognize when he is wrong and as a result of this, his fans put the blame on others unfairly as a result. In Ultron Tony takes absolutely no accountability for the inception and creation of Ultron so his stans don’t either and put it on Wanda who had nothing to do with it, they completely mischaracterize everyone on Team Cap in Civil War because Tony talks about them being the bad guys (also his reaction in the Raft is disgusting), so they truly believe that Team Cap are the bad guys (like seriously y’all do you know how hard it is to find a good team cap fic, like if someone could please point me in the direction of some that would be great). In doing so they also grossly mischaracterize Tony, Tony would never be a kind-hearted sit down and talk things out and baby Peter, outside of the fact that he hates kids. We are shown several times that he shows absolutely no empathy towards them, I mean he belittles Peter constantly and calls Harlan a pussy in Iron Man 3. Not to mention this man is a billionaire who also used to work for the government and is so out of touch with reality that he would never be understanding about issues that a lot of the team has. In fact the way that Tony stans characterize Tony, is much more inline with how Steve would act. I’m not saying don’t like problematic characters, I love me a good morally gray problematic character, however the woobifying of Tony and gross mischaracterizations of literally any character that disagrees with him is in fact toxic and a huge issue of stan culture. Not to mention some of y’all are like really mean to people who are anti-Tony, like aggressively so.
Anyway those are my thoughts on Civil War and Age of Ultron, if you see a post come out very soon about the parallels between Tony and Wanda, but how Wanda is in fact the better person/character, don’t be surprised. I’m currently hype fixating on Marvel and I have decided to make this everyone’s issue, if you follow me for other things I’m sorry.

rachel anti's at this point that just find anything to slander rachel about or bring up the same thing, over and over again. Is just proving that they're just obsessed with her
Also would like to add if we're applying the logic that Santana's actions are OK because she's hot and a lesbian. Then if Rachel was canonically queer (whether people hc her as a lesbian or bisexual), then everyone would be running to her defense in a split second if we do go by 'she's hot and gay, she's excused' line. Because honestly, if Santana had murdered someone, her stans will excuse it and said she had a reason to do so
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Hmmm I'm almost inclined to agree with you but idk tho. Bc Kurt is gay but people still tear him to shreds for minor things. Like constantly bringing up his one biphobic moment then pretending like the same can't be said for Santana. Biphobia is actually iconic and feminist if it's coming from a conventionally attractive female character that I would fuck irl xx
I don't know what it is. I really think half the time it's like. "The show tells me THIS character is unlikable and annoying. They're the worst!" "The show tells me THAT character is funny and iconic. They're the best!" meanwhile they're literally saying the same shit lol. I think people are dumb
But I do think you're onto something. Brittany, Santana, and Quinn. All skinny and hot, yes, but also all slept with girls. All get excused for bigoted behavior. If only Rachel slept with a girl as well. Then those "Rachel Berry being annoying for x minutes straight" videos would be replaced with the exact same videos, only titled "Rachel Berry being iconic for x minutes straight" bc that's what the others get (:
alalksfjksdl it's so fucking stupid but i think you may be onto something. that's the really sad part of it all

What if I said that Hummelberry are most definitely not platonic soulmates and if Kurt did have a platonic soulmate, besides his relationship with Blaine, it would be either Santana for their deep understanding (in the way no one else gets them) and admiration for each other or Mercedes for the genuine friendship they created and maintained…
then i would say that you're exactly right and that you somehow pulled these words directly from my brain!! i adore both kurtana and kurtcedes so much, and i think both girls had much more equal and satisfying friendships with kurt (that were also entertaining af to watch). kurt had such wonderful chemistry with both girls, and i loved seeing them play off of each other onscreen. i also feel like they understood each other really well, and watching them bond seemed natural and authentic.
on the other hand, hummelberry seemed forced from the get-go and did not get any less annoying until s6, when it was too late for me to care about them. it seemed like they only wanted kurt and rachel to be friends bc kurt was the show's most popular character and they wanted to use him to boost rachel's likability...which is funny bc it ended up achieving the opposite for most people - i like rachel for the most part, but i despise her when she's with kurt.
imo kurt's friendships with santana and mercedes brought out the best in all of them, and were so much more enjoyable than watching him play prop for rachel for the millionth time. i will forever be sad that they chose to replace kurtcedes with hummelberry, especially when you consider the recurring pattern on the show of taking mercedes's friendships and romantic relationships and giving them to rachel.
it was just a bad decision all around, and it really hurt one of the show's greatest characters in the process.

so i’ve only really gotten into tv show fandoms since quarantine, most of my time before that was in musical fandoms, and this is what ive observed
y’all care so fucking much about other people’s opinions what the fuck
like i’ve seen so many post being like “if you hate jj you’re a garbage person” or acting like it’s wholly unacceptable to like flawed characters like pierce hawthorne or sue sylvester,,, its this very weird pseudo purity culture where everyone acts like everyone has to agree with them. yeah, if someone constantly hates on my favorite character or show, i’ll probably unfollow them, but i really don’t understand this entitlement around tv shows.
it’s not just opinions either, stan twt hates stan tiktok which hates stan tumblr and in so many cases that hatred is just completely unfounded. i just genuinely do not get it, ive been into musicals where there are maybe four active fans at a time and you cling to everyone else who shares your love for that thing and maybe having thousands of fans to pull from makes you more selective and particular or something but its fucking weird either way. i’ll be honest, i genuinely do not give a shit if anyone likes a character i do or dont, thats their right, and it’s also their right to post about it wherever they want
and this also isnt just tumblr, it happens across all those other platforms i mentioned. people all over fandom will try to blacklist ppl for not liking their comfort characters OR acting like other people’s opinions are somehow about them? like i’ve gotten asks telling me to take down a post where i mentioned in the tags that i didnt like klaine- what the hell guys? just unfollow or block if it has you that pressed but you cant tell other people how to curate their online space. its just very weird to me. ppl take everything very personally (in that respect, don’t twist this into an anti-sjw thing) and it’s a little confusing.
(this sentiment doesnt apply to like,,, pedophilia and shit, that’s not what i’m saying. but what the fuck do i care if someone likes rachel berry and i dont?)
