Ok I am an outsider but I think ppl are focused too much on the brucequest. Imagine the comedic potential of none of the batfam knowing but the loa does. Damian arrives and shows respect to Tim bc even the demons heir knows when they are outclassed (by several planets worth of people). Batfam + jl don't realize this until a force appears that overtakes planets and sees Tim. Tim says "fuck off". They promptly fuck off. What the jl doesn't know is that they only overtake weaker planets without a good defense. Planets Timmy has multiple planets to act as a defense and should not be counted. He wouldn't ask them but the second those planets hear of the threat to their beloved rulers planet???? They shall take this strain from his shoulders!!! He has done so much!!! (What if he thinks we are too much work) We can do this small act for him!!!

They hear of one (1) threat and are like but what does he get from ruling us?? (Mental health boost from millions saying how great he is, stress relief tbh, the ability to take days off while he feels like he's still being useful). We Will Keep Our Overlord!!!!

Better if they have longer lifespans and so Tim being 17 is like.. Smart Baby!! Babey so clever!! We love him!! Earth babies are clearly such good rulers!!! We should recommend?! But wait?? He tries to KILL earth?? THATS WHERE OUR BELOVED BABY RULER IS??

Tim is like people electing a bear to president because it clearly can't make anything worse right? But then he makes it BETTER?!??!??

I fucking love this so so much. I can't with them electing him for the morale boost (baby for overlord), and Tim somehow doing well anyways.

Just planets of people who love their mascot overlord who actually does really good work.

Also, you are correct that Damian (and LoA) knowing about Tim from the get-go would be such a juicy twist! Like, Damian would try to befriend Tim instead. He would try to establish a friendly relationship and connection for the purpose of having him on Damian's side when Damian takes over the LoA or Batman's mantle.

I bet Talia has trained Damian in business relations and how to manipulate people onto your side. Damian would try these tricks (there can still be some conflict with Tim being Robin) and notice months later that they somehow became brothers. Oh well. Tim's proven to be a formidable ally. For those who hurt his family? He's a terrifying opponent. It's truly better this way (and not that he'll admit it even to himself, but he also cares about Tim at this point).

Since Damian knows about the planets and they have a friendly relationship, Tim would take Damian with him sometimes when he visits. He'd show him some of the ropes (training useful for WE or LoA) and implement ideas Damian proposes.

Then! Your whole JL and invading forces ideas??? Fuuuudge. I love that shit so much. I just love dramatic reveals like that

so like sgdkdhdkdhd I say Jay and Lloyd are my “favorites” but honestly it’s so hard to pick favorites out of this skittles squad like I love EVERY character for a variety of different reasons. I was going to also infodump about Lloyd but then I started talking about Prime Empire and then this post got. Long. So. it's just Jay I may infodump about Lloyd another day especially since I'm very Conduit Brained Rn but yea yea!

this is long so i'm putting most of it under the cut so y'all don't kill me for making a huge long post

I considered putting Zane and Sora on here as well since I’d also consider them my “favs” but like this is already gonna be. A lot of. Infodumping (also i typed THIS part before I even started and decided not to yell about Lloyd because this already got long enough). Maybe I’ll make a separate post for those two hmm hmm much to consider but for now MY (technically) FAVORITE NINJAGO CHARACTER: JAY WALKER

so hey his name is a pun this makes me laugh ridiculously hard every time I remember he is named. After a misdemeanor HSKSHDKFH

Jay is such an interesting case of a character for me because I started out the show not liking him. Which is. Stares at my entire account I think my feelings have changed somewhat

Jay starts out as an asshole I don’t think anyone can disagree with me there (although honestly they’re all assholes in early ninjago they bullied a ten year old and left him dangling several feet off the ground) but over the course of the show you can see him start developing into a much more interesting character. He goes from being so insecure he's faking everything about himself to someone who knows who he is and is so genuine about it

now yea we could argue about whether his character was too uwu-ified post-season 10 but this is the FUN HAN POST SO WE'RE NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT THAT the point is you can SEE the growth that Jay has gone through and I am going to show you that growth through what I call

✨ The Skybound to Prime Empire Effect ✨

I AM SO PASSIONATE ABOUT THE IDEA THAT PRIME EMPIRE WAS WRITTEN TO BE A DIRECT PARALLEL OF SKYBOUND AND WAS CENTERED ON SHOWING HOW THE NINJA ESPECIALLY JAY HAVE GROWN THROUGHOUT THE SEASON

when season 12 rolls around we are at the point in Jay's development where he is CONFIDENT in who he is. He's a fun-loving jokester with the power of lightning and the drive to help people whenever he can. He uses jokes and humor to help alleviate tension and get people through whatever's happening. And when on his own what does he do?

BECOME AN ENTERTAINER BABEY

i like to think jay's club in prime empire was a safe haven for anyone stuck in the game who figured out hey. we Can't Leave and felt freaked about it. Also Jay would generally try and spread the word that hey something ISN'T RIGHT HERE which would lead people to want to stay with him

(totally plugging my friend's fic but this kind of thing is explored in would you like to enter prime empire by @finn-m-corvex y'all should check it out cool cool)

also the prime empire shorts which i watched all of in the midst of typing this video cuz i love them go watch them please please please jay was publically fighting the red visors which I imagine may have raised some red flags for some players

THIS SOMEHOW TURNED INTO PRIME EMPIRE INFODUMPING LMAO ANYWAYS Jay's confident! He becomes an entertainer because it's who he knows he is! And it's something that will get people hyped and having fun, which is very in-character for Jay to do! He uses those kinds of things to mask the Bad Things going on and get people remembering what's good

I've talked about this sort of thing before but that's Jay's whole philosophy as early as season 9! Which is a DIRECT contrast to how he views it in season 6, as Nadakhan puts it scarily accurately

"You make jokes to mask the fact that you're afraid"

(i was gonna grab a screenshot for that like i did with the hunted scene but netflix has bloCKED THE ABILITY TO TAKE SCREENSHOTS THE WAY I USED TO and i don't have them already and i'm too lazy to grab them from elsewhere so alas trust me he says it)

making jokes to hide your fear and using humor to remind yourself of what's good and coping with the bad are two VERY different outlooks on it

so I think this outlook is what drives him to make this glamrock persona in the first place - this is a bad situation, one he's in with other civilians, and what better way to keep him and themself safe until the others get there than throwing a big performance at a safe place!

also it's just so gender okay I want to look like Superstar Rockin' Jay so badly

it's also interesting to see his outlook on his parents change over time! In season six he finds out Ed and Edna aren't his birth parents and feels upset about it, not understanding why his birth parents would've abandoned him. In season twelve, that outlook changing is EXACTLY why Jay's able to get through to Unagami

"I was abandoned by my parents, too!... I never understood why, and I never had the chance to even ask. But I always hoped there was a good reason. What if there's a reason?"

(again curse you netflix i wanted SCREENSHOTS whatever whatever)

It's this scene that gets Unagami to calm down long enough for Milton Dyer to get there, and presumably is what stops him from just. Flattening him and Jay like a pancake.

to piggyback off of this i absolutely adore how Unagami and Jay consider each other adopted brothers in that one book I still haven't read and I hope he's in Dragons Rising at some point Unagami is my favorite "villain" (no longer a villain) in the whole show he deserves more screentime

like this is where i found out about this and it's plagued my mind ever since. i need to read. this book just for them

SO YEA OKAY Prime Empire is "Who is Jay as a Person Post-Skybound" to me also it opens up so many fascinating things about Jay. I rest my case

so backpedaling a little bit. JAY CARES SO MUCH ABOUT HIS PARENTS GUYS IT'S SO SOFT AND I'M sobs

like yea the first episode with Ed and Edna in it has Jay avoiding them like the plague but this gets explained very easily when you remember he was bullied for his home life before he became a ninja. It makes a lot more sense why he wouldn't want them around his new friends, assuming they'd react the same way. Also how was he supposed to know literally all the rest of the groups parents were either dead, presumed dead, or had a toxic relationship with their kid lmao

(Cole calling his mom kills me. Cole's mom is dead. I know they probably just didn't think that far ahead when writing the dialogue but it's so funny mans pretended to call his dead mom to get on Jay for not appreciating his parents iconic behavior)

anyways literally every episode Ed and Edna are central to (except like the one in skybound) Jay stops at nothing to protect his parents and it means the absolute world to me he's so much like them!! They raised an inventive little nerd and he will stop at nothing to make sure they're safe and it's. It's SO IMPORTANT TO ME OKAY

ALSO this is an excuse to clip my favorite piece of dialogue possibly in the entire show. Except Netflix won't let me now. So you just get the text dialogue

Jay's just fallen from the sky with a messed up eye and is incredibly distraught that all his friends are captured. And his dad just. The woRLD IS FALLING APART AND HE'S EATIN' SOUP-

i have a question about f1. how do you decide what team to root for? is it just vibes or is there a way to decide? f1 compels me but i dont know where to start

anyway, i mainly decided based on a combination of vibes and dts (more on that later) but considering my allegiance completely changed over the course of actually watching my first season i am also very much an advocate for just diving straight in as a completely clueless neutral, watching a few races, seeing who compels you, and taking it from there

that said if you want to go in with a preexisting inclination towards a fave there are two main things you can do:

watch drive to survive on netflix. this is the formula one "documentary" series, each season of the show covers a season of racing starting from 2018 and going all the way to 2023. the big disclaimer here, as you've probably guessed from my use of inverted commas, is in terms of accuracy it's really more of a Real Housewives Of Formula One vibe than a true documentary. it's fairly good for picking up drivers' personalities (especially the dts faves like daniel ricciardo) and some of the main personal backstories of the current grid (like pierre gasly's rise, fall, rise again, and subsquent condemnation to Alpine Jail) but it is far from exhaustive, it tends to be a bit biased towards the star of a given episode, and it plays around a lot with footage to craft a narrative. so it's a great starting point to get excited by the sport but i would not use it as the entire basis of your decision

if you want something completely unbiased and super informed (this is a Joke) then just read my handy powerpoint below ⬇️

finally, while f1 is fun and messy and often regarded as the "pinnacle of motorsport" it is, to put it bluntly, not the most competitive at the moment due to. well. red bull and max verstappen just being those bitches, but also the current cars just being a bit too big and unwieldy to overtake each other on a lot of tracks. i still think there's fun & value to be found in watching it but of course i'm biased bc i'm saying that as a verstappen fan. but if you want to get into a motorsport because you want a real sense of mystery and excitement when it comes to who's going to win..... formula e is where it's AT right now. 6 winners in 6 different races babey!!!! and the monaco eprix is THIS WEEKEND if you want to explore it :))

Here are my thoughts on: episodes 1-3; episode 4 and episode 5!

Things I like:

Okay I see we’re starting off with emotional devastation write off the bat with a Zuko flashback. Dallas does a good job at portraying now-Zuko and before-Zuko. HES JUST TRYING HIS BEST HE JUST WANTS TO MAKE HIS FATHER PROUD OF HIM!! HE WANTS TO HELP OTHERS AND HES PUNISHED FOR IT!! 😭😭😭

Finally!!!! we are getting more Zuko and Zhao conflict. We needed to see more of Zhao as a villain

June flirting with Iroh is so funny and far better than in the og

anyone: this place is impenetrable. zuko: say no more 😉

oh my god they did the zuko sequence of him taking out those guards to get to Aang so well!

Love the whole zuko rescuing Aang from Zhao it was perfect ✨

Zuko meticulously finding out all the information he can about the past Avatars to the point where Aang says no one else knows this stuff is so important to me

Also I like how Aang and Zuko got a longer conversation than in canon. they had a nice moment there 😌 that will get Zuko Contemplating Treason for sure. Well actually - more treason than what he’s already done (thinking about you: siege of the north)

the 41st division being Zuko’s crew is an interesting choice!!! I’m actually sobbing about it!! To me it’s both a bad and good choice. I’ve explained my thoughts below and in the next section

Despite what I say below, Zuko’s crew bowing to him after they find out Zuko’s actions saved their life is such a good scene. Zuko seeing the product of having compassion and empathy for others as something positive, rather than something he’s ultimately punished for.

things I don’t like:

Zhao’s speech kinda sucked tbh. in the og it was much more grand and terrifying. He's on ground level with the soldiers instead of on that grand balcony. In the original he goats how fire is the superior element, how they're going to raze the Earth Kingdom to the ground. But in this one, it's just not the same level of brainwash-y propaganda-ryness that would have made SO much more chilling

idk but i preferred when Koh was a bit more mysterious and we didn’t really know much about him except that he stole the face of Avatar Kuruk’s lover and like some more vague info that leaves you intrigued about the mystery. like who the fuck is the mother of faces (i know she’s from the comics but still). And why did Roku steal it from him at all? idk im confused

Idk why they made Zuko stand and fight Ozai????? Ozai burning his own child who refused to fight him was a part of the horror of it all. Zuko refused to fight his father and begged for his forgiveness but Ozai still burned him anyway. I guess it still gets the cruelty across and that Zuko’s own compassion is used against him and Ozai is an irredeemable monster, but i still think it’s Not A Good Change.

Like I said above, Zuko’s crew being the 41st is not a bad thing! But I do just want to say that in the original, the attack goes ahead, and presumably, those soldiers die. It’s horrible. Zuko’s sacrifice is in vein and it was always going to be in vain because the Fire Nation as its stands would not allow it. Ozai would not allow it. I think that, like I said, it’s not necessarily a bad choice, but I think it does take away some of the horror of Zuko’s story (same as it does with making Zuko fight back in my opinion). HOWEVER, I do think it’s not all bad. I loved the scene where the crew bows to him - like I said above 🥹

Aang just giving Koh the statue and then all the people are just freed and he doesn’t even say anything wtf 💀

also i was so excited for roku’s appearance but i just thought it was disappointing. stop info dumping!!!! leave something up for interpretation I am BEGGING. “And she is Koh’s mother. Koh longs for the same thing we all do. Family.” maybe i’m being a bitch about this but it just annoys me!!!!!!! stop spelling things out! Koh is so much better when he’s mysterious and unknowable!! why is Roku's whole presence to be here and info-dump about Koh instead of all the meaningful and wise interactions he has with Aang in the original. simply ✨no✨

As you’ve seen from my previous entries, I try to have more positives than negatives but there were some things in this episode that irritated me and that i couldn’t ignore lol hopefully it gets better.... 😅

There were still parts i loved! Aang and Zuko's interactions were great and teh whole sequence of them escaping was wonderful. I likes Zuko interacting with the crew and Iroh trying to care for Zuko but not really knowing how to reach out to him.

On to the next one!

im venezuelan so it can be a easy "why not" is not like our existence in media much less representation is a thing so i can believe anything i want

but !!!! if u want more specific stuff let's go then

1) Mobius is basically latin america. they're all latinos your honor

not just that sonic in general is basically The Franchise in latam ever but also that a lot of other characters are coded as latinos (ex. Sonic as brazilian or argentinian depending on who you ask, knuckles jamaican/peruvian, silver chilean etc are popular hcs) for mannerisms and story and funzies.

Oh and let's not forget The World Map where Mobians live basically in latin america no i will not let it alone

2) color pallete!!!!!! is real easy since his whole colors are yellow blue white and red in similar tones to the flag so. another win for the venecos (imma put this old image i made some time ago)

3) his tendency to use even the most "useless" objects and make crazy inventions with it (yes i will acknowledge the paperclips in this one because it's been in different shows and games)can be interpreted in many ways, but is a very huge value for us to just have to go on and fight for better or for worse, we don't let ourselves give up so easy and our working culture has shown that really what's stopping us is the state of our country

there's a really common stereotype for venezuela that we're criminals or lazy or don't work, and that's far from it. idk i feel like tails' story connects with that sentiment of fighting for more no matter what you have ANYWAYS

4) SCIENCE AND HISTORY BABEY!!! Venezuela has been really important historically not just for promote independence in South American nations, but also our scientists and petroleum industry have been contributed a lot to the world.

examples like the diamond scalpel, citgo being an originally venezuelan company, the vaccine against leprosy, the corner clamp and i could go On. but tails being a science enjoyer AND being venezuelan is also a cute detail :)))

that's really it. put projection alongside cute clues ive found and details from venezuelan history (as i am a huge nerd of it) and you get little venezuelan tails!! thanks for the ask anon lol

several of u wanted to see my Process for lineless so dw i am HERE to disappoint 😎 once again pointing out that how i draw is shaped entirely by the 1 to 3 layer drawing applets i used thru all my formative yrs so that is why i am soooo bare bones

LAST STEP try n catch anything i just extremely fuckin hate before posting. i have a fuckton of pattern brushes ive either made frm free images or bought from somewhere that i couldnt remember if i tried. i do not keep track of jack shit my brush library is a MASSACRE. anyway this is the only part im kinda careful w if i truly deeply do not feel like redrawing over parts i cover up. sometimes ill add patterns before details to make it easier on myself but it all depends on how much im using my brain which is not much and not often.

im so sorry i dont have any sick tricks im literally the laziest bitch i know

so, hey. I haven't updated you guys on the situation with Scott and Ethan in a while. it's been a very eventful 10 days.

You can see Ethan's updates here but I will be offering my own biased perspective and summary.

i'm sure my mother would want me to clarify that i did not advise anybody legally, nor did i tell anyone to bring a lawsuit, but. i did lay out my understanding of the law as it pertains to Ethan's case & tell anyone who would listen that i would have sued months ago

and uh as i provided ample sources and a laconic summary of the fair use doctrine and alternatives to federal court, i may have contributed to Ethan's decision to file with the CCB :3 which is (to be overly brief) like small claims court for copyright infringement specifically.

nobody has said so explicitly, so i do have some plausible deniability. but if by some grave miscarriage of justice Ethan were to lose a single one of these claims y'all Know I'd do my damnedest to recoup the man's losses anyway so i feel very comfortable in saying SPITE WORKS!!! THAT'S THE POWER OF SPITE-FUELED RESEARCH BABEY! THIS IS A WIN FOR CLARE!!

even the very worst case scenario for Ethan is a win anyway; the CCB's awards are capped at 30k, but since he's a much, much kinder person than I am he elected to pursue their "smaller claims" options, which further caps it at only 5k.

and let me tell you. the statutory damages alone would cost Scott upwards of $180,000 in federal court (not even counting the libel), so if he doesn't take this case (participation in a CCB case is voluntary for both parties) he is a fucking idiot. But I guess we kind of knew that already.

Let's see. So, Ethan started getting his copyrights registered last weekend (another benefit of the CCB; registrations can be filed concurrent to submitting your claims, though I don't think I told Ethan that) like right after my last post on the matter here. He submitted proof of his intent to bring legal action to YouTube, who can't actually apply strikes until a decision is reached, though those videos are sort of in purgatory.

Meanwhile, that allowed Scott to begin posting content again. He immediately abused that power. On the 23rd, Scott posted a fourth (4th!) defamatory video, whose thumbnail looked like this:

That action figure is his childhood OC, which he put into the MOTUC line. In addition to his literal, actual face. But don't worry, not his name! That was a DC Classics exclusive 🙃

For those of you that are unfamiliar: That's the license plate from Better Call Saul.

He made a bunch of really, painfully wrong assertions that I tried to write up again just now and bro I can't. It is fucking Cringe. I can't. He did claim he had a lawyer, which as I told him following the second defamatory Community Note, is grounds for him to fire that fucking lawyer.

Ethan did a second interview with Dad-At-Arms basically updating people on the situation, letting everyone know he was going to take things to court. That went up the 24th.

On the 25th, Scott posted another Community Note, this time doing a little victory lap, concluding, "So much content coming to ya! It is great to be on the air again!" and resuming his regularly scheduled posting for the remained of the week.

Then along came Monday.

Every single one of Scott's videos was privated, including the advertisements for his consulting firm and stupid bullshit AI comic.

Well--come to find out, he emailed Ethan right around when everything went dark saying he was "truly" and "sincerely" sorry for everything, and "never meant to create a fight" between them and that it was "never intentional".

"To make things right I am going to halt any videos and take down what I have. I hope this will make it right and restore your site to its full capacity."

Which like, alright, I try to be a little more level-headed in spaces these creeps might see, since they're already fucking wilding about every other aspect of my identity and personality. But the fucking BALLS on this guy!! The fucking audacity!!!!! MONTHS of claiming he was being BLACKMAILED and HARASSED, giving Ethan's identity to one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen in the fandom (and that is saying something) and then his thousands of subscribers?? Telling those people really really obviously fake bullshit to make himself seem like the super reasonable victim and not the perpetrator of--ballpark, 'cause I don't know who may have granted him permission--five to ten thousand copyright infringements?

And "to make things right"!!!!! Right for whom, Scott!!!

I've been assuming he finally talked to a lawyer, because even with receiving notice of Ethan's intent to take him to court, I just don't believe we'd see this complete a 180 in him without the advice of counsel. Whom I do not envy right now, he's shot himself in the foot at every fucking opportunity. I doubt they told him to private everything, since a jury at least might construe that as hiding evidence (there are no juries CCB proceedings) but he's a big fucking idiot. Presumably because he realized he'd broken his embeds across every website out there, including his own (not that that ever got him to fix his LinkedIn button...). He did delete all of the Community Notes about Ethan though, just for good measure :) Still absolutely no public word from him since last week.

I have receipts on all the libel saved in multiple locations, but I do appreciate him un-privating some of his videos for me. Gonna make documenting those much easier 😏

i had a second post up on the forums but it's being weird about copy/pasting into tumblr, I'll see about that tomorrow ig. And I'm working on a third summarizing my case law research. HUGE win for me today in that the finding which most directly contradicted my arguments was actually reverse on appeal in 2022 so I'm sitting real pretty, citation-wise. Very smug, very petty. Feeling absolutely great.

I GOT THE GOLD PRINT BABEY I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS TO HAPPEN TONIGHT!! months of on and off grinding and then 3 days straight of doing this nearly all my waking hours and losing so many streaks and I DID IT!!! this is one of the hardest things you can do in gen 4 ever i think i'm losing my mind. pthgss battle factory does NOT fuck around

some commentary below the cut if you're interested in my thoughts/strategy while doing this

when i saw whiscash i swapped into scizor because i thought it was safe and i wanted to preserve weavile's strength, speed, and fake out for later... and i did my calcs wrong. i've been hunched over calculators and spreadsheets for hours to have the best odds of winning this streak and somehow i was calculating doubles damage instead of singles so EQ was stronger than i expected. embarrassingly i didn't notice this until someone pointed it out to me after the fact LOL. i don't even know how i didn't catch it, of course EQ does more damage, it's STAB!! so that was actually a pretty damn dangerous switch! but he missed stone edge i am BLESSED stone edge more like stone MISS AHAHAHAFSDKFSDAL

anyway after whiscash was down i let entei take out my scizor because scizor is slow and was already on low HP, if i tried to preserve it it would probably just get outsped and die to a legendary or something later. and entei had two dangerous sets in particular it could possibly be so i really needed to scout its fire move. tbh when i saw entei my heart sank, i knew my team was really weak to fire and that it could be a problem but i just never found any good pokemon to swap while climbing round 7. i just hoped that garchomp resisting and having earthquake would suffice... but the entei had a shuca berry (halves a super effective ground hit) so outrage actually did more damage. if entei crit me at any point it would have been over but otherwise it would have been impossible to take out garchomp in two hits thankfully. and i had a persim berry if outrage ended in two turns and confused me. but didn't end up mattering!

my heart SANK when the focus band proc'd on latios (a 10% chance) but then i was like YES!! THIS IS WHAT WEAVILE HAS BEEN WAITING FOR!! THERE'S NO WAY IT PROCS TWO MORE TIMES IN A ROW RIGHT?! because weavile using fake out would give me a chance, and then if focus band proc'd again, the flinch from fake out would let me get a second turn and weavile outspeeds that latios SO it was pretty safe unless i got insanely unlucky. AND IT WORKED OUT!!!!

i dunno if i deserved this win because my round 6 (the round before this one) was INCREDIBLY lucky, like, i got the round 7 staraptor in my draft and it had choice band brave bird and just decimated EVERYTHING except a couple bronzongs which i had a strong vaporeon for, so... it was basically a freebie and then round 7 had some close calls but also i got garchomp from trading with the literal first trainer (who i almost lost to but shhh) and then all the stuff with scizor/whiscash... BUT. it's been long enough i'm TAKING IT

i'm probs gonna upload this battle video to the dns exploit server later but i gotta wait for my parents to go to bed so i'm not interrupting them using wifi by turning on the gen 4 compatible guest wifi lol

Mineral Swag Round 1: The Poll Maker's Favorites

More information under the cut (this is a long one, I love these minerals!)

Garnet and Peridot. These are literally my two favorite minerals and here I am pitting them against each other in round one. But it must be done. Their vibes are too similar for them to be paired with any other mineral.

Garnet is #1 on my list. She can be red or orange or green. The most well-known of the garnet species is probably pyrope garnet. She’s the one with that classic deep red color associated with garnet! (For more information about mineral species and what they are and why they form, see when I talk about olivine further down).

The picture above the poll is an almandine garnet and it’s probably my favorite garnet sample of ALL TIME. Those garnet crystals formed like that naturally. Someone did NOT go in and cut that up. They removed some of the schist (the rock matrix that the garnet crystals are stuck in) but garnet just looks like that naturally, babey! Garnet naturally forms as a dodecahedron.

I also love that garnet forms during the metamorphosis of rocks! Shale is a dull, mostly boring-to-look-at rock made of mud and clay. When it experiences high enough pressures and temperatures, it is metamorphosed into schist, a delightfully shinny slippery rock that sometimes has big old garnets in it, as shown above! The rock was smooth and boring, then the minerals recrystallized until it became a weirdly chunky rock!

Another fun fact about garnet has to do with petrographic microscopes and optical mineralogy. Geologists can look at rocks on an outcrop (think big rocks and cliff faces on the side of the road) or in their hand. But to see the minute details of specific minerals, we use thin sections of rock. Thin sections are exactly what they sound like! Super super super thin (30 microns, or 0.003 centimeters thick) slices of rock. Geology students can make them! But if you want good quality ones, you usually send them to a company.

Anyway, when rocks are sliced that thin you can shine light through the minerals (using a petrographic microscope). Minerals have properties you can see and test when you’re holding a sample, but they also have optical properties when you shine plane polarized light (PPL) or cross polarized light (XPL) through it that can be used to identify it. One of garnet’s optical properties is that it looks clear in PPL, but completely dark in XPL and I think that’s a super neat trick.

Maybe if people are super geeked about petrology and mineralogy, I’ll talk about it more in another post, but this post is already long and I do not remember THAT much about mineralogy to write a concise summary about any of it!

Now for my other favorite mineral, olivine, aka peridot. Peridot and olivine are the same mineral, but peridot is gem-quality olivine.

Olivine is the real forbidden rock candy. Most of the time it forms these little crunchy looking crystals instead of big impressive crystals like garnet. But it’s such a brilliant green color, and the texture is really very fun.

As for its geologic significance, most of the mantle is olivine! The gooey plastic rock that the tectonic plates float on is mostly this cool green rock. Also, olivine is a great example to use when learning about mineral species. Taken from the preliminary polls:

Olivine has two prominent "end members" or mineral species. The chemical formula for olivine is

(SOMETHING)2Si2O6

That (SOMETHING) is almost always magnesium (Mg) or iron (Fe) or some combination of the two. If an olivine sample has ALL magnesium in that spot, it is known as forsterite (one of the olivine "end members"). If it has ALL iron in that spot, it is known as fayalite (the other end member). And, of course, because nature is not perfect, there can be an olivine with any combination of mangesium and iron (between these two end members).

At their core, fayalite and forsterite are both olivine. They are both silicate minerals (see the part of their formula with Si) and regardless of whether they have magnesium or iron, their structure is the same. They have silicate tetrahedrons (the 3D shape that the molecule Si2O6 makes - think a d4 in D&D) bonded with some iron or magnesium atoms.

In this case, whether you vote garnet or olivine, you have chosen a wonderfully amazing mineral.

hello everyonr today i am here to tell you why emmett from the lego movie (2014) is autistic actually.

first lets talk about the beginning of the movie where mr emmett reads fucking instructions on how to be normal everyday. now it is implied in the movie that everyone reads these instructions every day or at least follows them, however it is clear from the get go that emmett takes them wayy more seriously than evreryone else. he goes as far as to use objects as the important people in his life because he wants to follow the rules and fit in, instead of just ignoring those rules or something i dont know. this is autism behavior

next very important part is that everyone around him thinks hes weird. now wait a minute and listen. when interviewed by bad cop everyone around him had almost the exact thing to say about him- that he was normal and perfectly likeable but there was just something different about him, something off that made them not want to be around him. lets make some comparisons here. almost every later diagnosed autistic person can attest that their peers in the early stages of their lives knew that they were different before they started exhibiting major symptoms and thats the same way emmett is treated by his peers. they do not have any reason to dislike him at all but they all slightly do because they can feel that he is different and they can not understand it. babygirl that is like every single autistic child's experiences.

next: emmettt following instructions. now i have made clear earlier that he follows instructions to a goddamn t but later on in the movie when wyldstyle tells him to act normal he acts in a way that he beleives to be normal and in response to this wyldstyle gets like frustrated and stuff. this sort of 'thinking you understand the instructions but when you do it the instructor gets mad at you and asks why you didnt ask for clarification when you thought you knew what you were supposed to do' phenomenem is, once again, one that like every autistic person has gone through.

okay okay last reason. during one of the bigger plot points when emmett beleives in himself while on metalbeard's ship it is made clear that the reason that emmetts plans are effective is because his brain fucking works differently than everyone elses. babygirl. thats so fucking autistic. you could of course argue that its because hes a normal person who, unlike everyone else on the ship is not yet a master builder. however we see in the end after wyldstyles speech that no other average citizen is thinking on the same level that is considered 'dumb and useless' as he is- president businness does not say thst these things are dumb and useless as he did with emmetts double decker couch, he is only frustrated due to the chaos. so emmett thinks differently than like everuone. thats autism babey

star wars all day babey. i dabbled in steve x bucky from 2017-2018 ish, but star wars has had my brain in a vice grip since 2015 (i was another victim to the sequels causing a sw renaissance).

the right feeling - from my finnpoe days :') this is part 1 of a soulmate au series. this one has 4.7k words.

i think i was blind before i met you - steve x bucky (damn we're going way back, this is 7 years old) modern au with barista steve and college student disaster bucky. 15k words.

please stay for awhile now - finnpoe, again for the win. this is part 2 of the soulmate au series. 5.6k words.

we should just kiss like real people do - finnpoe. this is the fourth and final part of the soulmate au series. hurt/comfort, recovery, all the good stuff. 8.2k words. (i suppose we all needed the soulmate finnpoe fluff in 2016, judging by these stats).

but through it all, i will need you anyways - current codywan WIP!! fix-it fic with just an insane amount of disgustingly tooth-rotting fluff. no clone death, just good feelings. this has been ENTIRELY self-indulgent and i started it when i got initial codywan brain rot. 64k words and counting!

jesus, literally none of them. i have to do happy endings, i'm too fragile. closest would be i hate you, fuck you, please never stop looking at me which is wolfwren PWP, except they still kinda hate each other at the end. (this barely counts because i am writing a follow-up that explores more of their feelings for each other and has a happy ending)

7.) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

ALL OF THEM. idk what to tell you. probably the cheesiest ending is the dinluke modern soulmate au i just wrote - how did i ever live without you?

8.) Do you get hate on fics?

no, thank god. i keep things pretty vanilla and i tag very thoroughly to do my best to avoid any hurt feelings. (also i've just simply been lucky to never experience that)

9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

oh fuck yeah. 2/3 of my fics are explicit. mostly m/m, one f/f and two m/m/m. we have fun over here.

10.) Do you write cross overs? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

no, this would break my brain. next question.

this is so hard. . i think codywan has been the one ship that has just slapped my across the face and gave me stockholm syndrome. I think about them.... All the Time. second closest would be finnpoe, judging on how many stories i wrote about them. and they just fit so well together and i adore their characters and they had so much chemistry and. (i'll stop now)

15.) What’s a WIP you’d like to finish, but doubt you ever will?

my brain will simply not allow me to leave a WIP uncompleted. by god, it's going to happen even if i am chaining myself to my laptop and typing through tears.

16.) What are your writing strengths?

i have received many compliments about my dialogue and smut scenes flowing very naturally :) i try to make them play like a movie and have it immersive enough that a character doesn't do/say something unnatural to make the reader stop and say wait what?

16.) What are your writing weaknesses?

oh god, PLOT and ANGST. can't do it for the life of me. i work best in oneshots so i can brain vomit and move on. i have a hard time planning out fics and i deeply envy writers that can create beautiful long fics in a timely fashion. i deeply lack the patience for something like that.

as for angst, yes i can technically do it, but it pains every cell in my body. just let the sad old gay men be happy.

17.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

closest i have ever gotten is mando'a, but it's been very fun to learn!

18.) First fandom you wrote for?

oh boy. one direction (the aforementioned orphaned works).

19.) Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

i am cursed with "i immediately hate everything i write as soon as i release it" syndrome. recently, though, i was particularly proud of safe. warm. mine. because it was very outside of my comfort zone due to the involvement of three people and it was the first a/b/o i have written!

when i talk about being really interested in little details the dub adds in vs. how things are presented the sub, and how those dub-added details and changes can give characters these neat little new facets to think about--this is a good example, one of my favorites!!!

Like, in the sub, when Primo/Placido and Lester/Lucciano have this little exchange and Lester mentions Jakob/Jose getting mad, all Primo has to say is

pretty straightforward!

But MEANWHILE, in the dub we get this BONKERS comment from Primo, this “when I’ve managed to complete the Circuit and summon the Divine Temple, then I will be the favorite, so it won’t matter what Jakob thinks.” And like, A.) oh damn, rare mention in the dub of the Ark Cradle?? I always forget they called it ‘The Divine Temple’ there, still a pretty boss name, but anyway, B.) oh I am absolutely Enthralled with this “yearning to be God’s favorite” angry desperation they’ve given Primo here, holy SHIT.

Like it’s this little idea they’re toying with that offers this new explanation for part of What Primo’s Damage Is, his violent impatience and insistence on doing things himself and in his own way--it’s not just He Is a Gijinka of How Much It Sucks to Be 19, he’s also doing everything he can to (in his own eyes) claw his way into the good graces of the Three Emperors’ God and become His favorite before the Circuit is complete and he runs out of time. I love that this implies he thinks he Isn’t in his god’s good graces currently (and, like, considering how he fucks up SEVERAL TIMES, it would perhaps make sense 🥴 he is a little bit of God’s Mistake huh)--because, considering Who Their God Really Is (that’s Z-ONE babey!!!!!!!!) and considering Who The Emperors Really Are (fragments of someone who was and is One of Z-ONE’s Closest Friends), that assumption either might not even be true, or in and of itself says, a Lot about the dynamic of Z-ONE and these walking pieces of what used to be his friend. That he can even Have favorites among them. MAN.

Dub characterization choices don’t always hit the mark, but I really do think they CAN be engaging and really cool to think about!!!!
