Mending Shadows // Chapter 5
Tumblr media
Summary:
Y/N was a simple Scavenger of Lucis, until meeting a deadly blow at the hands of an infected creature. At the crossroads of death, they are found by Niflheim’s cryptic Chancellor with his own agenda. Now bonded to Ardyn Izunia, and tossed into the world of Niflheim, Y/N struggles to cope with their new life as an Imperial Icon all the while battling their feelings toward their fate and that of Ardyn’s.

Ardyn stretched his arms and yawned. He was leaning up against the front of the Vixen while casting a scrutinizing glare toward the gas meter. The sound of the ocean near the road, and the distinct calls of birds swayed against his ears. He watched as the pump slowly continued to fill the car, and he hummed in thought. The price of fuel these days was abysmal. Then again, the Lucian economy had taken quite a hit due to Niflheim’s war.
“Suppose I can’t blame the royal family for wanting to rob everyone dry,” Ardyn chuckled, amused with himself. The total came to around 2,500 gil. Barely a dent in his pocketbooks, yet he could imagine how trifling that would have been to a small family. Choosing between food and fuel was a product of the modern world that Ardyn didn’t care for. Gone were the days of living within one’s means, and trading goods for other products. His mind started to wander, recalling simpler times and pleasures. As much as Ardyn adored his car and modern world decadence, nothing could ever beat the freedom of riding on the back of either a horse or chocobo from the days of yore. He smiled thoughtfully to himself, remembering the first time he rode such beasts. He shook his head and grimaced when he lingered for too long.
“Sentiment will get you nowhere, old boy.” He muttered to himself with contention.
Ardyn’s eyes peered over to the market next to the fuel station, and he debated with himself about getting a snack and a drink. Furrowing his brows, Ardyn let out the most dramatic sigh one could muster and waltzed to the entrance.  There were present-day indulgences that he was addicted to, and he both loathed and prided himself on the fact.
Once inside, Ardyn wasted no effort in creeping around at every item, even down to the little knick-knacks that tourists often bought for keepsakes. He raised a brow at a row of snow globes next to a bag of chips. Each piece contained the Crown City’s iconic towers of the citadel. The temptation to break them all itched at Ardyn’s spine. His eyes cast a glance at the cashier who was counting money in the till. It would be so easy to play the scenario off as a clumsy mistake. Alas, he reminded himself he came here for one thing and one thing only, and sighed in defeat.
After meandering, Ardyn smiled big when he saw row upon row of Ebony in the back fridge. His amber eyes carded over all the black cans with awe when he approached the glass doors. Ever since Accordo put an embargo on Niflheim, he had been months without the brand. Ardyn wasn’t normally one that enjoyed coffee. Caffeine had an unpleasant effect on his mind. With there already being thousands of other occupants behind the wheel, the last thing Ardyn needed was his brain frying under the weight of daemonic energy, and having a high. Ebony was the one brand he made an exception for.
Spotting an unsweetened version of the brand, Ardyn opened up the glass door and crouched down. His fingertips touched the cool texture of the can. The charismatic smile he carried into the market faded.
In what felt like a bad flash from a camera, Ardyn witnessed his fingers touching the chilled texture of a corpse. He saw a woman with her jaw nearly cleaved off. Two men nearby were mangled in a similar fashion. A feeling of dread jolted his nerves.
Ardyn blinked several times, and the can of Ebony came back into view. He paused. His fingertips lingered upon the can, hesitant to pick the beverage up. The deep glare he cast toward the fridge could’ve cut through steel.
In all his years of acting upon the scourge’s influence, and taking the souls of the unwilling into himself, Ardyn believed he’d never get spooked when it came to absorbing the memories of his trespassers. He had performed the action so many times, that it became second nature. This new development troubled him a great deal.
Y/N’s face came to mind. A deep exhale left Ardyn’s nostrils. His eyes closed.
Smoke and chemical grime burned the inside of Ardyn’s nose. Wheezing, he took several steps back from the epicenter of the explosion. His right hand covered his lower abdomen. Blood oozed from a horizontal slash by a sword that cut through his clothes like butter. He gasped in an agonizing groan, feeling a wave of nausea hit. A throbbing sting coming from Ardyn’s neck had him shaking his head back and forth every so often in a vain attempt to tamper down the sensation.    Fingers trembling, Ardyn felt his vision begin to fade in and out. He nearly buckled under his own weight. This shouldn’t have been happening. He was immortal. The godforsaken Adagium. Physical pain was something he was more than accustomed to after 2,000 years of solitude, and then additional years of experimentation. He had been shot, stabbed, burned, peeled, and maimed without so much of an expression. Yet here he was near weeping while desperately trying to find a way out of the flames and debris.    As Ardyn stumbled, slouching against a wall nearby, he let out a dry heave upon feeling a heavy object hit the middle of his back. He fell forward and caught himself from tumbling at the last second. Ardyn turned around to face his attacker and ducked his head when a long spear attempted to strike his face. This dance played out for a time. His black and yellow eyes flared with vengeful contempt as he inhumanly screeched at the foe. The bottom end of the spear struck his jaw, and the impact sent him flying. Ardyn rolled over a few times before his back slammed against a wall of glass. Shards cascaded around him.
Weakly, Ardyn groaned while attempting to bring himself back to his feet. He panted heavily while blood and scourge leaked from his nose and mouth. He gargled on his own bile, feeling the tip of the spear press firmly to his throat. The owner of the weapon had venom in their eyes. The likes of which even made Ardyn’s daemonic expression look almost human in vulnerability. He had “died” before when people attempted to strike him down. The fear of death was lost on him, but at this moment he felt a dread that should never have gained prospect.    “It seems the Gods have favored our side today, Chancellor!” The MedZin guard proclaimed in an exhaustive yell. He prepared to put his full weight against the spear so that the blade would slice Ardyn’s neck and spine in half.    A bellowing screech emerged from the flames as did Y/N’s body, jumping into the air and landing on top of the MedZin guard’s back. Y/N’s legs locked around the guard’s waist, and sickle claws began to rip and maim at the back of the man’s skull. The guard fell backward in a desperate attempt to fling off Y/N, and their legs around his abdomen tightened like that of a snake fully dedicated to squeezing the life out of its prey.    Ardyn’s eyes widened as he witnessed the altercation. The carnage happened so fast, that he barely registered Y/N being thrown off after the guard had pierced them through several times with the spear and flung them. The yellow in his eyes constricted as he let out a scream; finding motivation to shadow step and deliver the killing blow to the guard by striking their abdomen so hard, that bones cracked.

Spurting out blood and spit, the guard looked up at Ardyn fading eyes, and somehow through adrenaline or pure spite, the guard managed to throw his final words out to Eos.   “You may live today, Adagium, but the world will know who and what you are soon. You---can’t keep hiding as Niflheim’s Chancellor---may Ifrit lay waste to----” The guard’s skull cracked and split open upon Ardyn’s left foot kicking downward in a fell swoop. He dug his heel into the cavity for good measure, sneering while his teeth grit.    “Pathetic waste, the lot of you,” Ardyn muttered bitterly. His breath became ragged as more smoke began to pool into the heart of the MedZin labs. By his calculation, Ardyn figured he only had ten minutes to get out before being consumed in flames.    Turning on his heel after removing his boot from the guard's entrails, he started to limp away, leaving Y/N behind. It was only when he got to the entryway did he stop. His head turned to the side and his eyes lingered on Y/N’s semi-lifeless form. Leaving Y/N to die in the flames of destruction was part of his plan. He’d literally kill two birds with one stone.  The information MedZin had stolen about the scourge would perish and he’d keep his promise to Y/N with a quick death. The cherry on top of it all was that Y/N would be framed for Ardyn’s trespasses and crimes in the aftermath. The public would never know of his instigation and true identity. Once the bodies were found, and the evidence planted at the stronghold connected Y/N to both locations, any proof of Ardyn’s interference, of his godforsaken mission, would burn and die with them.    It was as perfect as a bow on top of an extravagant gift, yet Ardyn hesitated to accept it.   Through the bond of the scourge, he felt Y/N clinging to life. For someone that wanted to die so badly, their instincts to hold out were powerful. Ardyn could feel their blood running hot and cold as if it was happening in his own body. His conscience was almost made up until he heard it. The faint murmur of a plead left Y/N’s mouth.    He made a fist so tight that his fingers trembled from the pressure.

Ardyn opened his eyes and he was staring again at the can of Ebony. A morose contemplation traversed his tired gaze. He grabbed a can for himself and hesitated before taking another. Holding onto them with one arm, he closed the fridge door with his free hand and made his way to the cashier to purchase.
Two hours later, the Vixen was parked in a rather large area inland from the coast. From the distance, Ardyn could make out a smaller imperial airship. Several soldiers greeted him with a wave from afar, and he returned the gesture. Nonchalantly, Ardyn exited the vehicle and approached his fellow countrymen with a lopsided smile.
“My, my, aren’t I popular these days?” Ardyn said mischievously. He saw one of the younger men of the group swallow nervously and chuckled. “I do hope that your crossover to Lucis wasn’t turbulent!”
“The travel was not an issue, excellency,” The commander of the group, a man no later than fifty-five spoke up. “We made sure to keep tracking and communications to a minimum so Lucis wouldn’t detect our presence with their magic.”
Ardyn nodded. “About how much longer do you believe that’ll last?”
“Chief Besithia determined forty-eight hours. That being said, the ship is ready for departure at your command, Chancellor. We can have your vehicle and belongings out of here in ten minutes.”
“That won’t be necessary,” Ardyn shook his head and waved the commander off.
“Sir, Chief Besithia mentioned that time was of the essence. We are in enemy territory and understand the great risk involved in assisting this mission. For your safety, I’d like to implore you to consider departing now.”
“You need not remind me,” Ardyn sharply replied. His gaze was so stern that the old man apologetically gave a bow with his head, not feeling up to snuff challenging the Chancellor himself.
“I am awaiting a guest to join us on the journey home,” Ardyn began. He kept his tone neutral, so as to not convey whatever ties he had to Y/N. “I anticipate their arrival will come at dawn. Word of mouth says we should have a fog coming in at that time. What better way to sneak past the Lucian Armada than to take cover in a hazy shroud?”
“I suppose you are correct,” The commander muttered. He cleared his throat. “In any case, we would be honored to get the Vixen on board along with whatever you have.”
“Sounds riveting,” Ardyn mused. He playfully tossed his keys to a young soldier nearby, resisting a smirk when said soldier almost tumbled over himself trying to catch them.
While walking past the group, and heading for the dock of the ship, Ardyn hollered. “If you fine gentlemen need me, I will be in the ship's quarters having a discussion with Chief Besithia on the network!”
“Yes sir!”
Once aboard, a sigh of contentment left Ardyn while he had a look around before traversing to the main quarters. These newer models were less like mazes inside, and Ardyn mentally patted himself on the back for convincing Verstael to invest in a better layout. It didn’t take long before he was alone in a wide room, with windows looking outward toward the land.
Ardyn stopped for a moment to take in the scenery and his brows furrowed into a glare. It wouldn’t be long now until the rich and fertile lands of Lucis would be replaced with the desolate snowscapes that notoriously covered Niflheim. Although he held great contempt in his heart toward the Lucian people and the kingdom as a whole, Ardyn would be lying to himself if he didn’t feel somewhat homesick for his former country. He was going to miss the view.
Sighing deeply through his nose, Ardyn shook his head. He ventured over to a desk with a computer and began setting it up so he could have a face-to-face conversation with his colleague.
“I take it that the war room meeting hasn’t been postponed?” Ardyn made a face as Verstael tiredly rolled his eyes and nodded on the other end of the screen.
“Unfortunately for the two of us, Aldercapt wishes for the meeting to commence when you are verified as healthy to continue to work,” Verstael bitterly stated. “There is also another trivial matter that you and I must contend with upon your return.”
“Oh?” Ardyn perked his eyebrows up. For the first time in the last two hours of conversing with Verstael over the Imperial Network, he felt legitimately curious. “Now don’t leave me on a cliffhanger! I do so hate it when you put on dramatic pauses for effect.”
Verstael’s dry lips curved into a smirk. “You’re lucky I don’t have the strength to call you a hypocrite right now. Alas, I don’t think you will be singing a happy tune to this matter. Aldercapt wishes to proceed with the empire's name day, and all the festivities that it entails.”
“You can’t be serious?” Ardyn’s bluntly said while his brows knitted into a glare. “Not that we don’t have the coin for such extravagance, but this will put a damper on the weaponry budget. Not to mention compensation for security will be tight.”
“There is also the issue of the Tenebrae Ambassadors,” Verstael continued. “Aldercapt invited them over for the ceremonies in the spirit of ‘showing off the splendors of the empire’.”
“More like showing off how much of Tenebrae’s resources we are wasting,” Ardyn snorted. He sighed, rubbing the spot between his eyebrows. “Looks like I have my work cut out for me when I return home. So many fires to put out, so little time.”
“Speaking of putting out a fire,” Verstael began. “You said you were combing over an idea. What has become of that?”
Ardyn remained neutral, even as he heard the eagerness in Verstael’s cadence. “I find myself ruminating on a few concepts. I haven’t made up my mind yet, sad to say. Alas, considering the fact the empire needs to make a good impression on our esteemed allies of Tenebrae, I believe this Lucian souvenir I picked up may come in handy for such an occasion!"
Verstael raised a brow, understanding Ardyn's playful hint and the dangerous implications it entailed. “Not that I don’t believe your twisted mind has conjured up a fool proof plot, but if you recall, you know the penalty of an uninvited Lucian setting foot on Niflheim soil while the empire is at war.”
“I’m well aware,” Ardyn said as a matter of fact and smiled. “However, I’m the Chancellor at the end of the day. I’m confident I can get Aldercapt to lift the penalty just this once for my generous offer.”
“Consider me intrigued,” Verstael chuckled darkly. “How exactly do you intend to use this Lucian?”
“It’s rather simple, I--”
Before Ardyn could finish his sentence, the airship began to violently shake. Through the metallic walls, Ardyn could hear the echoes of explosions going off.
“What in the six hells is happening?!” Verstael yelled from the other end of the screen.
“Obviously, it appears I am under attack,” Ardyn sarcastically quipped.
“Gods, it better not be crownsguard reinforcements!” Verstael’s tone slightly quivered with fear.
“I don’t believe that’s the case,” Ardyn reassured. “If the guard knew of my whereabouts, my being and the ship would’ve been nuked to kingdom come by now.”
“Whoever they are, don’t let them take you into custody!”
Another quake came, nearly knocking both Ardyn and the computer over as the ship tilted more to the left. He gathered himself, remaining composed while an array of chaotic yells and gunfire began to sound off from afar.
“I do so hate to drop our conversation, but duty calls!” Ardyn chimed and ended the call.
Alarms and sirens began to go off within the ship, and a stoic voice on the overhead intercom began to alert everyone on board:
Under attack. Under attack. The East side of the ship is under attack. Reinforcements sent. Under attack.
Ardyn immediately sprinted out of the room and bounded for the airship dock, wanting to assess for himself how dire the situation was. It wasn’t long before he arrived and received an answer in the form of dodging a round of bullets at the last second.
Ardyn sprinted and on his third step, his body molded into a dark mist that transcended over and through supplies and goods. Time came to a grinding halt, but for Ardyn's victims, he might as well been the only living creature that was moving abnormally fast. The yellows of his eyes turned a fiery orange while he zeroed in on several of the intruders.
Jumping into the air, Ardyn summoned his red blade Raksasha, and his assault began. The intruders had no idea what had hit them until their own bodies had tumbled to the floor. Not long after, Ardyn stood over a pile of corpses. Glaring begrudgingly, he crouched down and began to rummage through the clothes of one of his victims. His right hand gripped upon the shoulder pad on the soldier’s left side, and he sneered at the red patch.
“MedZin,” Ardyn muttered and sighed. He thought of Y/N for a split second. “It seems you and I weren’t as thorough as we thought.”
“Chancellor!”
Ardyn immediately turned his head to the sound. He stood up as soon as the commander came into his proximity and quickly waved him down, seeing the fear in his eyes.
“I’m quite fine,” Ardyn firmly stated. “I want a status report, quickly!”
“Y-yes sir!” The commander gestured for Ardyn to follow him outside of the ship.
Another round of explosives went off, making both men nearly lose their footing.
“They came from the North and then started to shoot off explosions to our East wing! Team three and Team ninety-nine are outside, fending them off! There’s two small aircraft! I think we can take them out once they get in range!”
“How many would you estimate are trying to kill us?” Ardyn mused.
“A dozen or so!”
“Concentrate on taking the carriers down. I’ll deal with whoever survives the aftermath!”
The playful yet sinister end of Ardyn’s remark had the commander freeze in his steps, taken back by the sudden change in demeanor. Before he could stop Ardyn, and beckon him to stay close for his safety, the latter pushed past and took off into the fray of battle.
Rushing by several infantrymen firing off explosives and other advanced weaponry, Ardyn kept his eyes on the sky. Sure enough, there were two carriers as the old timer said. One to his left and right, respectfully.
With an eager gaze, like that of a predatory animal watching for weak prey to fall, Ardyn observed the ships go down in a dazzling display of fire and grime after a sixth round of explosives were launched from the imperial troops.
The left carrier was the first to perish, it's pilot unable to dodge a rocket that destroyed its entire front. The ship sunk to Eos like a heavy rock to a large body of water. The right craft met a similar fate. The underbelly of that ship was torn apart by magitek weaponry, a powerful ray that emitted a concentrated amount of energy from various crystals that had been corrupted via the scourge. The carrier spun around several times in freefall before it exploded violently against the soil of Lucis.
Ardyn smirked with pride, getting to see one of his creations in action. He briefly thought back to a time when Verstael had opposed such an invention.
“I told that senile fool it was a grand idea!” Ardyn laughed. His moment of fame was cut short when he zeroed in on survivors making their way out of the debris from the left carrier. He could practically smell the fear emitting off of men and women who scrambled away from the wrecks.
“Oh, we’re going to have some fun!” Ardyn menacingly hissed. He once more shadow-stepped at a lightning pace and drew his red sword out of thin air. With a violent twist of his body, Ardyn began his onslaught.
Blade against blade, and pained howls against steel erupted throughout the battlefield. There was a point in time when Ardyn could scarcely hear the crackling roar of the fires nearby, too focused on the carnage at hand to take in how the environment was becoming hostile. Every so often, he had become burnt from debris that was being utilized as weaponry from the MedZin operatives. The pain was more than enough to keep fueling Ardyn’s anger toward his enemies.
Years of knowledge in fighting that Ardyn had under his belt from 2,000 years ago, on top of memories from the souls of the damned came to his aid while he made quick work of the intruders. He was an efficient killer, and Ardyn relished in the cold fact of the matter. The ego stroke began to awaken another beast inside himself. The scourge hummed in his body with a violent urge to consume. The sensation was so powerful, even Ardyn felt tempted to bend to its will as he approached who would be his twelfth victim.
Ardyn stabbed Rakshasa through the woman’s back, yanking her body upward in the process. She slid down the sword to where Ardyn's left palm could touch her shoulder.
“Let’s get a peek of what’s in your head!” Ardyn menacingly whispered.
A dark cloud of purples and blacks began to dance through his fingertips, and particles of light pooled from the wound he had inflicted. Little by little, Ardyn could feel the woman’s essence, her very life, become integrated with his. His whole body felt like a straw that was sucking up raw nectar, and his brain flooded with visions.
Euphoria in the kill began to sway Ardyn while he grinned, and just as he reached a precipice where the transfer was almost complete, a sudden wave of nausea hit him. He stumbled backward, pulling Raksasha out of the woman’s spine. Her body dropped to the grass, and Ardyn fell to his knees. He began to throw up. Scourge and bile desecrated the soil in front of him. Vertigo began to plague Ardyn’s peripheral soon after.
So lost in his misery, Ardyn didn’t notice a MedZin soldier taking aim for his head, having snuck up behind to take advantage of Ardyn’s moment of weakness. The soldier raised his long sword, intending to impale him until a thundering sound radiated in the air. The soldier dropped his weapon. His body collapsed, having been shot in the head from afar.
Ardyn jerked his head around. With astonishment, he observed the body at his side and gave a hesitant slap to it. When no reaction had come, he sighed in relief.
“Well played, friend. You almost had the jump on me!” Ardyn mused mockingly. He grimaced and lurched forward.
An electric shock cascaded down Ardyn’s nerves, causing his fingertips and spine to ache. His right hand instinctively reached for his neck, near the site where he had been injected all that time ago when he ransacked Outpost 98. He closed his eyes, remembering all too well what it felt like when his body short-circuited, and he lost control of himself.
Ardyn wasn’t one to feel dread, much less become scared. With 2,000 years to his name, and having been imprisoned in darkness, little could deter a creature such as himself from seeking his ends. Right now though, he’d be lying to himself if he wasn’t frightened. This wasn’t normal by any stretch. It became abundantly clear that something was wrong, but he didn’t have enough information to aid his woes.
Shouting from the distance began to grow, snapping Ardyn out of his thoughts. He squinted his eyes to get a better look at the horizon.  Niflheim soldiers were coming to his aid. For now, his personal concerns needed to take a backseat.
Ardyn quickly wiped away at his mouth and internally worked on silencing the scourge. The last thing Ardyn needed, was to be discovered with his mask off. No one could know he was Adagium. It was years too soon for such a thing.
“Chancellor! Chancellor Izunia! Are you alright!?”
“You can silence your ruckus! I’m over here!” Ardyn hollered back, getting onto his feet to wave down his lessers. He coughed a few times and walked toward the large group after dismissing Rakshasa back into whatever plane of existence it dwelled within.
The commander came running up, panting heavily while he gestured for ground troops to scout the area for survivors.
“Are you hurt, sir?”
“No,” Ardyn shook his head and huffed. “At least, not in the way one would assume. I’m quite winded, however.”
“Sir, you should go back to the ship. Let us handle whoever is left. I don’t imagine there are many now,” The commander then saw the burns and winced on Ardyn’s behalf. “You need rest and to get those patched up.”
As much as he remained compelled to continue the hunt, Ardyn knew it would be foolish considering the odd symptoms at play in his body.
“I suppose I can concede this time around,” Ardyn murmured. He coughed again. “What are our losses?”
“We lost eight men thus far, and we are out of energy cores for most of our weaponry. The ship wasn’t well stocked, to begin with. As for the carrier itself, I have team ninety-nine working on repairs as we speak. From the damages, she might not be able to fly until evening tomorrow.”
Ardyn tilted his head back and sighed in defeat. “Grand of a time as any I suppose.”
“I’ve taken the liberty to notify Chief Besithia of the situation after the carriers had been shot down. He wanted me to relay a message to you to take shelter near an inn not far North. The owner is a Niflheim immigrant who will keep quiet about us being in Lucian territory. Two soldiers are to be assigned to you for protection, while the rest of us work on getting the ship back up and running. After we’ve combed through and determined the enemy is defeated, we’ll ransack their aircraft for anything that might speed up the process.”
“You talk too much and too fast,” Ardyn irately stated. He raised a brow at the commander, his gaze sizing him up.
“My apologies, I am only being thorough, sir. For everyone’s sake.”
Ardyn made a fist with his right hand until his knuckles turned white. As much as he was bothered by being commanded, he didn’t feel it quite right to take his anger out on the old man. Not when Verstael was using him as a puppet to bark orders.
“I will seek shelter at the inn at once,” Ardyn gave a half bow with his head out of respect toward the commander. “My phone will be on my person. I expect concise updates on the repairs while I recoup.”
“Yes sir, and what of your guest?”
Y/N...Ardyn froze for a moment, having nearly forgotten about them given the chaos. He made a face and waved off the concern. “They know to arrive here. When they come, give them the coordinates to the inn and I’ll take it from there. Escort them if necessary.”
“Yes sir!”
Ardyn began his descent back toward the airship. Every so often, he wiped away the sweat across his brow while deep in thought.
“They should all be dead,” Ardyn muttered to himself. He was so sure of it, that his mind had difficulty letting the truth of the matter sink in: that MedZin was after him. "Everything was destroyed. The whole facility burned to rubble. How could I overlook a mistake such as this?"
Such questions plagued Ardyn as did his thoughts about what MedZin had injected into his body the day Y/N and he attacked.  Whatever the serum was, it greatly hindered his dark powers. Speaking of which, Ardyn felt depleted in a manner of speaking. The unlimited reservoir of power at his disposal was no longer tapped into. He had a limit, like any other mortal, and it both worried and angered him.
Feeding off Y/N got him somewhat back to normal, but Ardyn realistically wondered how much longer that would last. He then burdened himself with the painful truth, that he would have to confide in Verstael about the injection. Ardyn dreaded that as much as he dreaded eating cloned meat when Aldercapt ordered it for the imperials of the court. He didn’t like it one bit.
“I seem to be on a losing streak these days,” Ardyn mused with contempt, making his way to the dock to check on the Vixen to make sure her integrity wasn’t damaged.
Twenty minutes into inspection, Ardyn checked near the tailpipe of the car and raised a brow when he came upon a peculiar object. Bending down, he crouched and pulled at the flat round piece. A grimace left him, feeling the object had been stuck on there quite tightly with a paste of some sort. A few tugs later, and he had it off.
Ardyn carefully blew away the dust on the item. There were two lights at the top, blinking yellow and red, and a list of serial numbers toward the bottom. It didn’t take long before he realized it was a tracking device.
“Gods be damned,” Ardyn sneered as he broke the piece with his bare hand, putting all of his frustration into it. Once it cracked in half, he turned his head when a Niflheim soldier approached.
“Do you need help sir?”
“As a matter of fact I do,” Ardyn gestured for the soldier to have his left palm up and then placed the tracker into his possession. “Decipher any information left on this device, and report your findings.”
“You got it, Chancellor!” The soldier sounded a little too enthusiastic for Ardyn’s liking, but he applauded the boy’s efforts.
After the soldier departed to check on the ship elsewhere, Ardyn worriedly looked out the dock entrance. His eyes combed the road, leading back to Galdin Quay. A heaviness in his heart came and went, wondering if Y/N was fairing better than he was.
Coming around to the drivers side of the Vixen, Ardyn grabbed the paper bag that had the two cans of Ebony: one for himself, and one for Y/N. He then sought out his escorts for the inn.

Proposal
pairing: noctis lucis caelum x (female) reader word count: 406
just some short fluff for my fav boy of all time♡
Tumblr media
In the glow of the moment, you find yourself smiling at the scene unfolding before you - Noctis, the true king, seated on the throne, flanked by Iggy, Gladio and Prompto, all in good health.
Your heart swells with joy, for everything has unfolded precisely as planned. Ardyn's malevolence is finally extinguished, and Insomnia is slowly but surely starting to get rebuilt. "Rise", commands your king, and you obediently ascend from your bow. His closed-eye smile beckons you closer. Without hesitation, you carefully ascend the stairs, stopping just before the last pair of stairs, locking eyes with your king.
"Y/N", his voice, a gentle caress, utters your name. "Yes, your majesty?"
His blue eyes meet your e/c ones in a silent exchange of affection.
He motions for you to come closer, to stand at his side. Realisation dawns - you’ve never been this close to the throne before. The only audible sounds are the echoes of your footsteps and your unsteady breath.
There you stand, before the king, feeling the weight of his authority. The urge to kneel seizes you, but a pale hand stops you from doing so, gripping your wrist. "Don’t… please", Noctis pleads, looking into your e/c eyes. Surprisingly, he rises, taking your hands into his. Your body tenses at the unexpected touch.
Staring into your eyes, he gently places his right hand on your cheek. "I have everything I could wish for - friends… maybe some exceptions…, home and the throne." Lost in his eyes and soothing voice, you can only nod.
"Yet, there’s something I've yearned for, chased for as long as I can remember." He releases your hand, lifting your left hand with his right, pressing a tender kiss on it's back.
"Please… be my queen."
A heavy silence envelops the room after Noctis's heartfelt proposal.
Your eyes widen, nerves fluttering in your chest as the weight of his words sinks in. The gravity of the moment hangs in the air, and for a brief second, time stands still.
In that pause, emotions swirl within you, and then, a tear escapes, tracing a path down your cheek. Unable to contain the surge of feelings, you find your voice, a soft yet resolute whisper, "I would love to."
Noctis's expression softens, a mixture of happiness and gratitude swirling in his eyes. Gently wiping away your tears, he nods, sealing the unspoken promise between the two of you with a soft kiss.

A Tall Glass of Red Wine
An Ardyn x Reader Fic
Ok… the prologue and chapter 1 are here, I apologise in advance if I get some of the tenses are mixed up, it’s my first proper attempt at a xReader fic so I’m still getting used to the phrasing (it’s especially difficult because I’m working on an OC story for Skyrim too and I find myself writing “her” and “she” instead of “you” sometimes) bear with me, I’m still getting used to it 😅
This fic isn’t going to be posted as consistent as my Skyrim fic, I’m not planning a schedule for posting this fic, once I have a chapter, I’ll share it
Reference of alcohol & poisoning
Prologue
King Regis Lucis Callum, of the Crown City of Insomnia rules over all of the vast kingdom of Lucis, or maybe not so vast now, Niflheim has taken control of nearly half of the kingdom. Regis, although he has a kingdom to rule, also has his duties as a father and as an Uncle, as the only 2 left of his household, he loves them dearly - in his own way. His household consists of his son Noctis - the chosen King of Light - and his niece, a young Captain in the Kingsglaive… You.
You came into your Uncle’s care after your father tried to put on the Ring of the Lucii, he wasn’t the chosen king after all, he wasn’t worthy of the Ring. With Noctis being heir to the throne of Lucis, you were expected to marry well and be a perfect wife to a high rank noble or a prince, however, you had shown such skill with a blade that your Uncle allowed you to train with the Kingsglaive. You flourished amount their ranks, climbing the ranks quickly until you became the youngest captain ever.
As you were of the Royal line your Uncle sent you off with the Marshal to collect your own set of Royal Arms. The pair of you traveled from each of the Royal Tombs to collect the power they held inside.
Once you and the Marshal returned you were sent out again within the week to lead your Glaives on a infiltration mission into Empire controlled lands.
“Stay safe,” King Regis said to you as you prepared to leave “and don’t use your Royal Arms in Niflheim controlled lands, if they found out who you were…”
“I know Uncle, I’ll be back soon, I’m sure” you gave him a warm smile, and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze
“Y/N, come on, we need to go!” You look over your shoulder at one of the other Glaives, you look back at your Uncle and he forced a smile before letting you go, you walk down the steps of the Citadel and join your fellow Glaives. A simple infiltration mission, what could go wrong?
Chapter 1 - The Poisoned Glass
Working as a servant in the Niflheim Royal Palace wasn’t what you had ever wanted to do, Niflheim was the enemy, you belonged in the Crown City of Insomnia, but you, and so many others were prisoners of war, made to serve the Empire, and you thanked the Gods everyday that your identity had been kept quiet so far, no one seemed to know who you were.
Magitech guards kept watch on the servants in the Emperor’s palace, programmed to ensure that no Lucian in the employ of the Empire did anything to harm the people they now served, there had been attempts, you knew of at least 2 men who had disappeared over the last month, that knowledge alone was enough to keep you loyal, as much as you hated the idea.
Most days you worked as a maid; cleaning the palace, taking the belongings of visiting dignitaries to their guest rooms or - as it was tonight - serving drinks in one of the many ballrooms. The men and women who were guests of the Emperor were dressed to impress, the women wore incredibly tight looking dresses that you thought looked very uncomfortable, and the men wore their finest suits… all but one at least.
The Chancellor, despite his high rank, never wore fine suits… that wasn’t to say that his outfit was dull, far from it; his black leather, ankle length coat was always worn, as was his hat and red scarf, even in the height of summer, as it was tonight. You had heard people comment on it too, although you knew that none of them would say anything to him directly, the man was an intimidating figure.
He was leaning against the wall, looking out at the party from under the rim of his hat as you passed him
“Do you have red wine with you?” He caught your attention with a snap of his fingers as he spoke
“I’m afraid not, Chancellor Izunia” you say as you approach him “only champagne, I’m sorry”
“Pity… I suppose it will have to do” he took a glass from one of your silver serving trays and waved you away to continue your rounds of the ballroom, offering drinks to the other guests. Passing out glasses to another group of guests emptied your serving tray, so you tuck it under your arm and return to the kitchens to replenish your supply
“The Chancellor’s asking for red wine, do we have any?” Another servant asked as he asked as they followed you in
“That man drinks nothing but wine, can’t he last one night without it?” The older man who ran the kitchens scoffed as he walked off, he was a fellow Lucian, that much you knew, you didn’t tend to ask questions like that, it usually got people angry and upset when they spoke of their homes. He set the fresh bottle of red wine on the counter, the young man who had asked for it pulled out the cork and poured a glass. You were collecting your fresh champagne flutes when you saw him pour something else into the glass, a fine white powder.
“What are you doing?” You hissed as he stirred the powder until it had completely dissolved
“With the Chancellor gone, then it just leaves the Emperor”
“And the whole of Niflheim’s army, are you insane!”
“Don’t you want to go home?” The young man looked at you, he looked desperate
“Of course I do… but poisoning the Chancellor is not the way to do it” you try to reach for the glass but he pulled it away from your reach and left the kitchen, you went to follow him but the older man caught your arm
“Don’t bother dear, let this be on him, alone”
“But what about the Chancellor?” You ask, the older man let out a sigh
“You have too much heart, dear, you won’t do well here if you care as much as you do” he nodded to your tray of champagne “you best get going with that, don’t want the high and mighty of Niflheim going too long without their alcohol now do we.”
Back in the ballroom, you can’t help but look over at the Chancellor, he was still leaning against the wall, looking down at his wine glass, swirling the liquid, but not drinking it, as you make your way around the hall, he catches your attention again, and waves you over.
“Is… there something wrong Sir?”
“The servant who brought me this, did he open the bottle and pour it?” You swallow your nerves that had risen to the surface
“Yes, Sir” he looked up from you and you followed his gaze, the young man was standing at the far corner of the room
“Well then, I know what he’s done… and I want him to know that what he’s done will result in someone dying”
“Sir?” Your voice trembled slightly as you spoke, he took your empty trays off you and handed the glass of wine, he kept his hand clasped tightly around yours, and looked at you, you could see a look in his eye that made your stomach turn
“Drink it” your eyes widen and you tried to take a step back from him, but he catches your wrist and held it tightly “you will do as I say, drink it”
“Sir, I…”
“Drink it” he repeated again, you quickly look over your shoulder, the servant responsible to this was still watching “I don’t want to have to force you” you look back at the Chancellor, then down to his hands, one holding your wrist tightly, to the point it started to hurt, and the other holding your hand and the glass he had given you, you couldn’t drop it, or even throw it at him, he was giving you no choice.
Why did I come over here, why did I feel the need to ask him anything? I’m going to die because I care too much, I’m so stupid
“I’m waiting…” the Chancellor hummed
“Fine” you manage to choke out, his lips twitched into a brief smile before you lifted the glass to your lips
“That’s it, drink up” even though he spoke in a whisper, you could hear a hit of amusement or joy in his voice, he still held the glass and your hand as you tipped the rich red wine into your mouth. It had been months since you had drunk anything so expensive and rich in flavour, it was a pleasant flavour, you thought at first that there might have been nothing wrong with it at all, but then whatever your fellow servant had put it the wine hit your system, you let out a gasp as the Chancellor let go of you, freeing your hands to clasp your throat.
You heard someone shout, a mans voice from what you could tell, but your focus was on yourself, the poison surged around your body, causing your throat to constrict and your legs to give way from under you. You felt strong arms catch you though, they lowered you to the floor.
“It’s alright” the Chancellor’s voice spoke calmly in your ear, you could feel his breath against your neck, as he spoke, your vision was blurring, all you could see were shapes moving around you “try to take deep breaths… it’s alright” you feel a hand close your eyes and brush some hair from your face as you slip unconscious.

Ardyn with Sick SO
So here I am again with another Ardyn x Reader post, I haven’t been feeling well lately and my amazing older sibling has been nothing but caring towards me and so I thought about how Ardyn would care for his sick SO, especially since he was a healer at some point. Again, he will probably be OOC because I’m not super used to writing him. Anyways, please enjoy!
_______________________________________________
You let out a horrible wet cough again as you curled up deeper into your blankets, feeling miserable as you felt cold despite having a fever. You were fine just yesterday when you were at work and even in the evening wen you were out with your significant other, Ardyn. However, as you made your way back to your room at the condo you were living at, you began to feel quite cold so you did everything you could to fight off the incoming illness as you knew that you were one to get sick extremely fast. The cup of tea and extra sleep did little to help you though as you woke up this morning feeling quite sick, you called into work right away and let Ardyn know by text that you were unable to see him today. You snapped out of your thoughts as there was a shap knock against your door and you groaned as it made your head pound, you opened your mouth to speak but you went into another coughing fit. You sat up and as it began to calm down, you heard the lock to your room click and you knew that the only one who could’ve gotten in at this point would be Ardyn as you had given him a key, just in case he wanted to stop by and visit. You heard the door open and you waited patiently in bed as the there were footsteps coming towards the bedroom.
“(Y/N) are you in your bedroom?” came Ardyn’s deep, yet soothing voice.
“Yes, I’m here” you squeaked in a rough voice that was almost non-existent, Ardyn came into the bedroom a few moments later and his amber eyes met your (E/C) ones.
“Ah, there you are my sick little bird, how are you holding up?” Ardyn asked as he came over to the bed and sat down beside you.
“I’d be better if I wasn’t sick… I didn’t even get a chance to fight it off before it fully hit me” you replied in a squeaky voice, Ardyn put his right wrist against your forehead and you flinched as it felt cool to the touch.
“You’ve got a fever my dear so why don’t you let me go make some tea for you and take care of you?” he asked, you shook your head.
You’ve got work to do Ardyn, you can’t just drop everything to come take care of me” you pointed out, Ardyn chuckled as he pulled his wrist away from your forehead.
“My job requires me to be away for days at a time so believe me when I say that I won’t be missed for the few days I’ll be gone to take care of you” Ardyn noted in an unconcerned tone.
“You make it sound as if it’s normal for you to just disappear” you mumbled.
“That’s because it is normal for me to disappear at random points quite often” Ardyn said as he got up and went to leave, you grabbed at his right hand though and he paused to look at you.
“Just please promise me that you won’t get chewed out by your bosses, I’d feel bad” you noted, Ardyn smiled.
“I won’t get chewed out (Y/N), now you rest easy until I can get back with some tea for you” Ardyn said.
“It’s hard to relax when I feel this miserable though” you protested, Ardyn rose his right eyebrow at you and he sat back down onto the bed, you released his right hand and he gently pushed you back down onto your pillow.
“I never said it was easy but you will have to just put up with it for now when you’re in this condition” Ardyn shot back in a firm but gentle voice that reminded you of a doctor fussing over a patient who had just woken up in the hospital and was trying to move about.
“Fine… but be quick as having you here is aking my mind off of how miserable I’m feeling” you reluctantly noted, Ardyn chuckled as he leaned over and planted a gentle kiss on your forehead before getting up again.
“Do not worry my little bird, you won’t even know that I’ve been gone for that long” Ardyn stated and then left the room, you could hear him moving around in the kitchen and slowly you could feel tiredness creeping into your body. Perhaps a quick nap WOULD be helpful for you and with Ardyn here, you were certain that you’d be well taken care of until you recovered. You let out a content sigh and smiled ever so slightly as you closed your eyes and allowed yourself to be pulled into a deep, peaceful rest.

-M.E. 722- Chief Besithia was quick to put you to work to clean a few areas of the facility, early in the morning. You hadn't much rest yet as your feet drug sluggishly against the floors with cleaning supplies in hand. a yawn escaped you as you fixed the skirt of your gown that Verstael always made you wear. Luckily for you, your day was quick to come to an end; curious about whispers of the man brought into the facility that you heard from researchers has awakened finally. You were given platters of food and wine. You quickly shot your eyes down as you brought in the food, the sound of classical music playing calming your nerves a tad. Noticing a very attractive man with red-wine hair entering the room you made haste to place the tray down then grabbed hold of the hem of your skirt. Verstael gave a smile, motioning to the chair to the side of him. "Come. Have a seat. Give the man something to drink, will you?" Verstael's blue eyes shot up at you before motioning to the man's golden cup. "Ye-Yes, sir." You grabbed hold of the golden pitcher and leaned over, reaching to grab for his glass. The man took notice of how revealing the dress was, your bottoms practically exposed as the skirt of the skin-tight garb raised slightly. Verstael chuckled as he caught glimpse of the new man's eyes scanning your body. You let out a squeak, jolting forward slightly at the feeling of Verstael's hand running up your thigh to rest against your behind. "She's quite a beautiful thing, isn't she? Her name is Y/N. She will be of service to you however you deem fit during your stay." "He-Here you go, sir." You said as your (y/e/c) eyes locked with the man's amber ones. "Enjoy your meal." You stood straight, looking forward to the blank wall that was across from you as the mysterious gentleman clasped his large hands together and bowed his head. "Gods above. We thank you for the bounty you have laid before us..." Your face reddened at the sound of his velvety voice. So angelic yet sinful. "Don't want your food getting cold now, do you?" Chief Besithia asked, the gentleman motioning for him to quiet for a moment. Once the man raised his head, Besithia looked to him and continued to feast. "Are you enjoying your stay?" "No." At least he was honest. "You've been asleep for years. Appreciating the waking world will take some time. Perhaps I can help enlighten you while we dine?" "Was your examination of me a fruitful one?" Was he some sort of experiment? What would Besithia want with him? He just seems like a normal man. What did he mean by the man was asleep for years? "Oh yes. You've proven more intriguing than expected. No wonder they kept you locked away." Was this man a criminal? Who imprisoned him? "And to think that the powers of a daemon could dwell within the heart of a man. Incredible! the Starscourge doesn't take your life force but it gives you more.. Your cells can regenerate and heal themselves and you can daemonify other lifeforms as well. There's no doubt you are in fact-." "A monster." He felt ashamed of himself for what powers he held within. "No. Not a monster. A marvel. I can't wait to unveil all your mysteries." Ardyn sighed, putting his hand up to his head. "How long has it been since you brought me here?" You felt pity for the man. He didn't want any of this. "Roughly seven months give or take. The Lucians had you locked away for nearly two millennia. I'm surprised you haven't lost the concept of time. You must hate them for what they did to you." "What do you wish to gain from me anyhow? What interests you so about me?" "You said so yourself that you were chosen by the gods yet I think nay. You are merely a god yourself with powers like that that you hold. We need the powers that you possess. With your strengths, we can finally put an
end to the war with the Lucians." "Ah.... My desires are in the past." You nearly gasped as the man stood, towering over both you and Verstael. "The man that brought wrongdoing onto you may be long dead but his bloodline still lives on. Do you not have ill feelings towards them in some way?" "My feelings are none of your concern." Ardyn's face scrunched up in anger. "Come along. I have something I wish to show you." Chief Besithia said standing, walking toward a door. You were quick to follow, not wanting to upset him nor the man. During Besithia showing the man around, you learned of his name. Ardyn Lucis Caelum... the Founder King's brother. Your heart ached to see the rage written on the man's face as his eyes landed on the painting of Somnus. Later that night you brought in some towels and some shampoo along with soap. Ardyn's eyes were pulled from his book as you entered the room. He placed the book on the side table and stood, pulling off his top and letting it fall to the floor. Your eyes roamed his body before quickly looking away. He truly did look like he was sculpted by the finest of marble stone. Ardyn grabbed your chin softly between his index finger and thumb, lifting your face up so you were looking up at him. The scent of cedar, cinnamon, and a hint of citrus fill your nostrils. Your lips parted slightly as you let out a shaky breath, your eyes meeting with his amber ones. "Why aren't you cowering in fear? You're a strange mortal." Ardyn looked down at what you were holding. "Ah. For my bath. Right." You gasped and dropped the things as he dropped his pants, kicking them to the side. "I-I'm so sorry, sir. I must ask for forgiveness." You quickly bent down to pick up the items but Ardyn stood in front of you, your eyes traveling up slowly. "I... I um.. Oh my." You quickly looked away, standing up and walking over to his bed, sitting them down on the mattress. "For what, Y/N? Have you never seen a naked man before?" He asked, coming to stand behind you. Your face collided with his bare chest as you turned to look at him. "I um. I have before, yes. M-My master." You parted your lips, letting a shaky breath out as Ardyn placed a hand on your cheek. You could feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end as he rubbed his thumb side to side along your bottom lip gently, a sad look on his face. "Besithia does so much to you doesn't he?" You blushed and shook your head 'no'. "Ju-Just unwanted touches is all." Ardyn frowned as he shook his head, pulling his ponytail out from his hair. Your hands were hesitant at first as you took his hair tie, placing it on his side table. Ardyn's hands on your sides startled you slightly until you felt him wrap his arms around you. He leaned forward and rested his head against yours with a tired look on his face. "Come bathe with me. Relax. Besithia said I could use you for whatever needs. Why not company? I want to get to know you." "Yo-You wouldn't want to see me naked." You said shyly, your face slightly red. "If you do not wish to join then so be it. Still relax, dove. Lay down on my bed." You froze for a bit as he walked over to his elegant tub before unbuttoning your gown, letting it flow down your body and pool around your ankles before turning to Ardyn. "Wow." Your face flushed, red with embarrassment as you stood in front of this man that was basically a God, his eyes taking in all of you. Your legs felt like jelly as you made your way to Ardyn. "I-I trust you." You say meekly. "I don't fear you." He smiled and helped you into the tub, pulling you onto his lap as your hand turned the warm water on. As the water filled you
relaxed against him, telling him of your childhood and how you grew up. How you were given up to Verstael at the age of 18 since he was looking for a lowly wench to serve him. Once the water was high enough, you turned it off and relaxed against him again. "I will make sure he doesn't touch you anymore." You let out a small breath as he moved your face towards his, his nose brushing against yours while he rested his forehead against yours. "Yeah? Why so?" Ardyn grabbed the body wash and squeezed some onto your shoulders before placing it down and rubbing it into your body. "Because I said so. You don't deserve any of that." You leaned your head back and closed your eyes as his hands moved down to your hips, turning you to face him. His calloused hands felt soothing as he moved the suds up, groping your breasts softly. "Shit..." You shuddered, gripping his shoulders causing you to push your breasts together. "A-Ardyn." "Such an exquisite view." He smiled mischievously and pulled you against him, pressing his lips to yours. You melted into the kiss, relaxing against him while deepening the kiss. Ardyn moaned into the kiss, one of his hands coming to rest on the back of your head while the other rested against your lower back, his fingers fanning out against your skin. The kiss was gentle, sweet, and you didn't want to stop. You felt him tense under you before pulling away, looking away from you so his hair would be blocking his face. "Ardyn?" His skin was now pale, black splotches and veins webbing all over his body. "Don't look at me." He said gripping your wrists firmly but not enough to hurt you. "It's okay. I'm not afraid." You placed a soft on his cheek and turned his face until you were met with black eyes with bright golden irises; his face looked as if he was bleeding black from his eyes and mouth. His brows furrowed together as he closed his eyes tightly. You could feel him shaking while gripping your wrists softly. "I-I'm sorry. I know I look-." "Beautiful. So fascinating." You say in awe. You press your lips to his while resting your free hand on his chest. He couldn't help but close his eyes and return the kiss, enjoying the feeling of your purity and kindness. He never felt so overwhelmed with emotions, his hands gripping your thighs as he stood from the tub with you and walked over to the bed without breaking the kiss. You were surprised he didn't slip and fall with you in his arms. A sweet giggle left your lips as he began to kiss from our lips to your neck down to your stomach, his stubble scratching against your sensitive flesh making you gasp and squirm. Ardyn hummed softly as he kissed right above your core, nibbling softly at your soft skin. Whimpers escaped you as he spread your legs softly, kissing each of your thighs as his hands moved up your body to feel your curves. "You're so beautiful, my dove. May I?" He raised a brow, the heat of his breath fanning against your core. All you gave was a small nod to give Ardyn an okay. He pressed his tongue flat against your cunt, moving it up slowly until he arrived at your clit where he licked with the tip of his tongue. "Ardyn!" You shuddered and clawed at the duvet causing him to smirk against you. "Mmmm. You taste amazing, dove." He held your hips down as he began to suck and lick at your clit desperately, looking up at you eagerly. It didn't take long for you to come undone, his tongue slipping into your tight hole, his hands holding your hips against his mouth firmly. "Ardyn! Please. To-Too much. It's too much! Please..." You cried out, pushing at his head slightly. He pulled
away with a chuckle before climbing on top of you and kissing you softly. "Please have me." Ardyn's eyes met with yours as he pressed into you gently, a small gasp leaving his lips as he felt himself sliding into you halfway, a slight pained expression on your face. He stopped and placed a hand on your cheek, wiping a tear away that rolled down your cheek. "You're doing so well, my beautiful flower. I've got you." A smile broke out onto your face as you turned your head and pressed a soft kiss to his palm. He smiled as well, eyes sparkling with joy. "I'm going to mo-move now okay?" His eyes screwed shut at the pleasure as he began to push the rest of the way in you. "Ardyn..." You threw your head back, your mouth hanging open as he slowly moved his hips against yours. He kissed along your neck and jaw, grabbing your hands and intertwining your fingers together as he kept his slow and steady pace. It didn't take you long to be squeezing his hands softly, resting your forehead against his and looking into his eyes while you squeezed him tightly; your walls quivering and convulsing as your body let go and let the pure bliss take over. Your name fell from Ardyn's lips in praises to the Gods as he held you close, his hips shaking slightly as he felt himself tighten, spilling his seed deep into your womb.
You both lay there, panting and looking into each other's eyes while coming down from our high, a smile pulling at the corners of his lips. You couldn't help but giggle, pulling his hand to your lips and kissing it. Ardyn pulled out and pulled you against him so you could rest your head against his chest.
"Ardyn?" You say softly, the tips of your fingers making random invisible shapes on his chest. "Yes, my dove?" He replied resting his head against yours. "Please never leave me? No matter what happens... I want to be by your side forever." Ardyn smiled and placed a kiss against your forehead. "Of course. I promise. I'll find a way to figure out how I can be yours forever. I promise I'll never leave you." Ardyn was a man misunderstood. Daemonized by the Gods that gave him a horrible fate... until that day they gifted him a bit of light to shine through his darkness. A light that he cherished so much... his beautiful flower.

An Arrangement (Part 2)
Ardyn x Reader (( Read: Part 1 ))
Your wedding day has arrived. Soon, you will be the Chancellor's wife. To have and to hold, for eternity— ? Word count: 2,583. CW: none
Light streaks through a crack in your bedroom curtains, painting warm sunlight across the bed. You wake from a dream-filled sleep, unable to shake the thought of him from your mind even when unconscious. You could still see those eyes, seared into your memory, his large form towering over you in the palace corridor last night. You wondered if he'd told anybody of your disobedient exploits—
It'll be our secret, he'd said. You thought him as a man of his word, and quickly reliquished the worry.
You knew Noctis and the others would soon be knocking for you, sitting up in the bed and rubbing your tired eyes. Today was the day. This was really happening. You looked about your bed, fingers gliding over the silken sheets, reminding yourself that this might be the last time you slept alone.
Tonight, you'd be sharing a bed, his bed, and the thought made you shudder. You'd had boyfriends before, sure. Dated here and there, much to Noct's disapproval. But the relationships never went anywhere; either scared off at the prospect of being welcomed into a royal family, or by the stern glares of your brother and his comrades.
You hadn't had the chance to sleep with a man yet, though you had explored your body alone on occasion. The thought of Ardyn doing the same, doing those things to you— you weren't sure if it riled up utter nervousness or eagerness. He was older, more experienced, a man whom you were sure had bedded countless people in his time on a mere whim. You hoped to not disappoint him.
"Y/n," a voice called through your bedroom door, followed by a firm knock.
"Come in, Ignis." You adjusted your nightdress to ensure you were appropriately covered and the tactician entered, dressed in his royal garb.
"Did you sleep well?" He paced over to the window and threw open the curtains, bright sunlight flooding the room.
"Sort of..." You squited into the sunlight, swinging your legs over the edge of the bed. "Party was kind of loud."
"Yes, it did go on rather late." He turned and folded his arms. "Are you ready?"
You turned your head to look up at him, understanding that he meant mentally, not physically. Clearly, you weren't even dressed.
"I think so," you averted your gaze to look outside, a bright blue sky beyond. "It's been a long time coming."
Ignis pursed his lips, clearly seeing through your wane veil of confidence. He paced toward the bed slowly, taking a seat beside you.
"It's alright to be nervous," he shook his head, "we all are."
"You are?" You suppressed a slight frown, wondering who exactly he was referring to. "I suppose it's quite an apprehensive time for us all."
"Indeed," he cleared his throat. "Tensions have been high recently. This marriage is needed to bind the kingdoms together, lest they fall apart at the seams, once and for all."
Pressure. That's when you started to feel it. The weight of it all. This wasn't just some arranged marriage between two sets of parents, two families; you were uniting the whole of Eos.
"Why me, Ignis?" You asked absent-mindedly, staring out of the window. "Am I really so important?"
"Of course," he turned his head to face you. "And—" he hesitated for a moment, "I'm sorry this burden has to fall to you."
"The Chancellor," you began, ignoring his apology, "what's he like?" You turned your head to meet his eyes.
There was another moment of hesitation, and though it was but a second, it was all the answer you needed. Ignis was clear, concise, he didn't mince his words. He spoke exactly as he meant to; frankly, honestly. Why the sudden hesitation? Was Ardyn not who he seemed to be?
"There's a lot about him we don't know," he sighed, looking away from you and out of the window. There is was, that brutal honesty. If he had anything kind to say about the man, then was the time to say it.
"We should get you ready," Ignis stood, walking around the bed and to the closet, fetching your wedding dress from inside.
"It's a beautiful dress," you stood and changed the subject. "It arrived a few weeks ago. Seems to fit perfectly."
"Yes," he looked over it, "the Niflheim seamstresses did a wonderful job." He handed it to you, and you took it, palming over the stitching.
"It's Niflheim made?"
"I believe Adryn commissioned it himself." Ignis nodded.
Adryn... chose the dress for me?
"Quickly now. I'll draw you a bath and you can bathe and change, someone will come to fetch you in an hour." He walked to the bathroom and began running your bath.
Ignis left shortly before you climbed into the bath, letting your skin soak up the warmth. You had hung your dress on the back of the bathroom door, looking at it as you bathed yourself, pouring sweet scented rosewater over your hair and body. As you combed your fingers through your hair, you stared at it. The fitted waist and long train, the slight sheen of the sequin embellishments, the perfectly pressed bodice and sleeves. It would be a welcome change to the tatter he saw you in last night.
Letting yourself sink your shoulders into the water, you tilted your head back and closed your eyes.
You imagined your walk down the aisle, Noctis on your arm in place of your late father. Today, Eos would witness history. A union of people meant to end the suffering. To finally bring peace to the people. To end the war.
It was all up to you— wasn't it?
The life you knew now would be left behind. It was time for a new chapter, a new beginning. What new places would you be confined to? Would they allow you to continue training? To continue hunting with your friends? Would he allow it?
You finished bathing and stepped out gently, drying off with a fluffy towel and wrapping it around yourself.
A few rapid knocks at the door sounded— you knew that enthusiastic knock anywhere. "You can come in Prompto, I'm in the bathroom."
The bedroom door creaked open. "You dressed?" He called from beyond, shuffling inside. You peered around the bathroom door to see him covering his eyes, arms outstretched as he fumbled around for the lounger to take a seat.
"Not yet," you chuckled, leaving the bathroom door ajar so you could talk.
"I got something for you," he said from the bedroom, "a gift."
"A gift?" You smiled to yourself, toweling off your wet hair. "You shouldn't have."
"Oh," he laughed nervously, "its- it's not from me."
"Oh?" You grabbed a robe hanging from the wall and tied it around yourself, stepping out of the bathroom. Prompto was sat down across the room, holding a single black rose and sealed letter in his hand.
"It's from the Chancellor," he held out his hand as you approached, taking the flower and letter from him. You twisted the rose in your fingers, looking at the immaculate bloom. It's velvety petals were pristine.
"How thoughtful..." you whispered, thumbing the wax seal on letter open. Prompto looked away bashfully, respecting your privacy. It read;
'My dear betrothed. How are you on this day, the day that we shall be wed? The sun shines no brighter than your smile, something that illuminates even the darkest corners of my heart. Do enjoy the rose— Ardyn.'
You felt your heart flutter for a moment, folding the note and slipping it into the pocket of your robe.
"Pretty sweet, huh?" Prompto asked, looking back and gesturing to the rose.
"Yeah," you tilted your head and smiled, standing again. "I should get dressed."
And so you did. Prompto respectfully helped you into your gown, and you exchanged stories of your hunts together, filled with laughter, danger, and excitement. Something you hoped you would be able to enjoy again. You spoke of growing up in Insomnia, of your father, of all the clumsy mistakes Noctis had long since forgiven you for, and all the failed boyfriends that came before today. It put you at ease, as did Ardyn's sweet words, something that had taken you by surprise.
Prompto helped with your hair, meticulously twiddling his fingers around each wave and curl before it settled in place just right. You applied a little makeup, dabbing blush on your cheeks and a subtle paint on your lips. Despite all the makeup, your dress, something was missing. Like a part of your soul was absent.
It wasn't long before a couple of hours had passed, and you were ready to begin the ceremony. The bedroom door peeled open, and there stood Ignis, Gladio and Noctis.
"You ready?" Noct asked, folding his arms.
"Yeah," you smiled. "I think so."
There you were, standing at the end of a red-carpeted aisle, outside in the royal gardens. Everyone you knew was there, as well as a crowd of members of the public, well guarded so they couldn't get too close to the ceremony. The press were there with their cameras, radio crews streaming the event for miles around. A string quartet played a sweet melody not too far away, and idle birdsong filled the air.
The crowd began cheering when the saw you, arm linked with your brother's, his face placid and emotionless. As you were bound to this duty, so was he, and he didn't seem to like it any moreso than you. You were his sister, given away to a foreign state, used like a tool in the war to bring peace. He said few words before you stepped onto the aisle, though you could hear him draw in a ragged breath.
Your long veil blew in the light breeze, petals scattering along the carpet. You dare not draw your eyes up to the end, where you knew, inevitably, he would be standing. Instead you focused on each slow step, trying to steady your breathing as the crowd cheered and whistled, throwing white confetti which was taken into the air by the wind.
The moment passed by in slow motion, lifting your gaze as you recognised a call from your friends standing to one side. Gladio, Ignis and Prompto stood side by side, Prompto waving his arm eratically. Gladio and Ignis smiled, hands clasped behind their backs. When you returned your sight down the aisle, you didn't look down. You steeled your nerves, stomach twisting in knots as you saw Ardyn, dressed in white, his red hair flowing past his cheeks.
He wasn't facing you, he was facing the priest, an elderly man dressed in the clothes of the faith.
Not much further now. The flash of cameras from the crowds nearby caught your eye, turning to see Ravus and Aranea dressed smartly for the occasion. They were two people you were sure you would get to know eventually, and Aranea wore a sweet smile for you as you glanced her way.
Before you knew it, there you were. Just a few steps up, and you would be face to face with him. You felt Noct's arm stiffen as you ascended the few stairs, unintentionally pulling you closer to him. You took one, final, deep breath before you reached the top, standing side-by-side Ardyn. Noctis unlinked his arm with yours and faced you, and you were sure he had a tear in his eye. Joy, sorrow, guilt? Who knew.
He nodded, retreating to stand to one side, and in your peripheral vision, you saw Ardyn turn to face you. You did the same, the warmth of his gaze washing over you like the morning sun. A slight smile grew at his lips as he looked down at you, but something prevented you from smiling back. As hard as you tried, you just couldn't muster it. The man clearly sensed your nervousness, or your unreciprocated joy, as the smile swiftly faded from his visage.
Instead, you focused on the priest, who had already begun his spiel about holy matrimony, gaining the attention of a silenced crowd. Ardyn's gaze never left you, though his body faced the priest, his head did not, instead choosing to leave his eyes on you.
The priests words buzzed in your ears, a dull, incomprehensive hum. The heat of the sun was hitting your back, prickling your neck and hands. Everything was a blur in that moment. Your previous life flashed before your eyes, a melodramatic reminder that that time was now over. So what was this feeling of dread, of fear? Just what exactly was to come? What expectations would you have to meet? What constraints—
You're pulled from your thoughts by he feeling of something touching your hand. You blink rapidly, looking down to see Ardyn's hand, fingers slipping past yours. He interlaces them gently with your own and you look up at him. Only, he isn't looking at you now, he's looking at the priest. Had he sensed your panic, your unease? Was this his subtle attempt at comfort? You appreciated the gesture, nonetheless, wrapping your fingers around his.
It was surprisingly calming, feeling the stiffness in your shoulder ease.
The priest was coming to the end of his speech now, and you could feel it's end approaching fast. With the end of those words, you would be married, and a sense of regret washed over you. But it's too late now.
The crowd roars with joy as he finishes, cameras flashing, confetti flying, doves fluttering their wings past you that fly off up into the air.
"You may kiss the bride," the priest announces joyfully with the raising of his arms amongst the loud cheers of the crowd, and Ardyn turns to face you.
You do the same, heart hammering the inside of your chest, his fingers still interlocked with yours. You look up at him, managing a feeble smile, and he smiled back again. You feel his fingers squeeze yours, and though he says nothing, you take it as some kind of 'are you ready?' signal. Though you have no feelings for the man, you suppose it's best to perform for the crowd, and the cameras, and you prepare yourself.
He leans down and you close your eyes, waiting for him to kiss you, until—
He lays a long, soft kiss upon your cheek.
You open your eyes as he withdraws, the crowd erupting in a loud chorus of cheers and whistling. Your mouth hangs open for a moment, looking up at him. You're surprised, eyes searching his as he reaches a hand for your face, grazing your cheek with the back of his palm.
"You look beautiful," he mouths, crowd too loud for you to even hear him fully, but able to make out the words still.
You grin unintentionally, a strong blush making your cheeks rosy pink. Before you can reply, Noctis returns to your side and you feel Ardyn let go of your hand. You watch as he extends and arm toward Ardyn to shake his hand, and the man complies. They exchange no words, only a look. A long, stern look, before he lets go turns his attention to you.
"You okay?" He asks quietly, the roar of the crowd subsiding.
"I'm okay," you smile, looking past him to Ardyn. You see Prompto bounding up the steps to meet you to one side, poised with him camera, snapping away.
"Alright!" He shouts, beaming. "Let's party!"

Thank you for including the actual prompt in the ask!! I may or may not have made him slightly sadistic. Also I got a rude ask telling me to put a read more break...so on purpose I didn’t add one here. It pays to be polite.
CHECK OUT MY MASTERLIST HERE!!
X RATED PROMPT LIST| NON X RATED PROMPT LIST
Leggo!!
...
The hem of your gown was torn to shreds as you ran through the forest. You were barefoot running through the cold and wet dirt. Your feet were starting to itch from the scratching of small twigs against your skin. You were running away from your parents’ palace.
You were to be married to someone. Someone you were disgusted by. You had two options. Marry or Be disowned. You chose to escape through your window and jump down. You almost hurt yourself on the way down, but it was worth it.
You had been running for what felt like hours with the moon on your tail. You finally stopped as soon as your palace was nothing but a silhouette in the distance.
“Guess I’m homeless now.” you sighed, sitting on a small log. “What am I supposed to do?” you groaned. It was dark and you could barely make out the moon amongst the smog. Lucky for you the wind was slightly picking up allowing you to feel the breeze on your skin.
“What’s this?” a low vibrating tone allowed you to come back to your senses.
You instantly rose to your feet, turning to meet the face of tall man. He looked as if he was dressed for the middle of the winter time with his heavy trench coat and scarf.
“A scared little lamb all by herself in such a place. You’re a long way from home aren’t you, young one?”
“Don’t speak down on me as if I’m a child, sir.” you narrowed your eyebrows at the strangers. “I’m far from it.”
“Hm.” he smirked. “My apologies.” he gave a slight bow. “What’s a young soul like you doing out in these parts so late in the night?”
“I don’t believe that is any business of yours, sir.” you took a step back. “Now I’ll be taking my leave now.” your voice wavered as you turned aroundd. But just as you turned to walk away, a man, the same man appeared before you.
“ You know…it’s dangerous being out like this. A pretty little sla- I mean thing like you out here all alone. “ he said with his hand held out. “If I may be so bold, I can escort you out of these parts.” his eyes practically glowed in the dark.
“No thank you.” you stepped back. “I know my way very well, thank you.”
Just as you turned around again, he appeared in front of you once more.
“Darling little girl-”
“Don’t call me a little girl!” you seethed.
“Hm, touchy are we. Young one doesn’t like being called a pathetic...little...girl.” he towered over you. “And don’t even think about grabbing the dagger I know is strapped to your thigh...you won’t get to use it.”
“What are you?” your voice slightly wavered.
“Ardyn Izunia...is what I am.”
Ardyn, where have you heard that name. The man seemed to laugh as the look of realization crossed your face. King Ardyn? The ‘Father’ of all vampires. He cackled at your fear struck expression. Your father had told you stories of his evil.
“Ah the young princess Y/N knows of me?”
“How did you-”
“Know your name, love? Everyone knows of the, most beautiful, kindest and giving of her time. You should know better, how forgetful we are.” he raised an eyebrow.
“You stay away from me.” you warned.
“Hm are you’re guards going to come and kill me, love?”
“I have no guards...not anymore.” you found yourself saying. You had your hand on your thigh under the slit of your dress. You wrapped your hand around your dagger. “Leave me...now.”
“Hm...anymore? Why? Was the little princess disowned?” he laughed. “Did their royal highnesses finally get rid of their problem child?”
You suddenly felt small and inadequate. “That’s none of your business.”
“Oh yes you have.” he took a step towards you. “You’re all alone, with no one?” he cooed. “Which means there’s no one to hear you scream.”
“Hear me sc-”
You were tackled to the floor, your weapon flying out of your hand. Ardyn bared his fangs towards you...” You like when I choke you don’t you? “ he cackled as he tightened his hands around your throat. You felt dizzy, very...fucking..dizzy.
”I must admit, darling girl...you look so delectable. It’s a shame I must kill you...but a vampire must drink.” he moved his hands from your neck allowing you to inhale sharply.
With his arm wrapped around your wrist and bought your shaky arm to his mouth. You were too frozen to even try and move. Adryn inhaled your scent, smiling sadistically down at you.
You held in your pain as he sunk his needle like fangs into your skin. You wouldn’t scream or cry.
“...So...divine.” the man shuddered. “S-so...addicting.” Was that normal?
You had no idea why, but feeling this. It was supposed to be painful, it was supposed to be what happened before you died a terrible death. So why were you seeing images...images you shouldn’t have seen.
...
“You look so beautiful in the sun, my darling.” the man beside you caressed your face as you both laid in the gardens. “You are the most beautiful of my fledglings.”
“I’d just better be the only one you treat like this.”
“Trust me darling, there are other people who will sire for me...my fangs will only ever touch your skin...when I’m not feeding or killing.” he smirked. “Come, it’s been a busy day. Lay your head on my chest...rest with me.”
You laid on his chest, the sun casting a glare over your naked bodies. “Can I ask you a question, Ardyn? Is this whole laying naked in the sun a regular thing?”
“Clothes are for humans with no free time...Now hush my dear...rest.”
...
and everything else went black.
...
You awoke on a plush surface. It was soft and velvety. A large, black comforter was covering your body.
“Oh fuck, am I dead?” was your first thought. You swung your legs around the bed and planted your feet on the floor. Why were you so cold. You walked over to a vanity, standing in front of a mirror. Your arm was bandaged up. “No...I’m not dead.”
“You’re finally awake.”
You whipped around. Ardyn was sitting in an armchair wearing only a silk bathrobe. “I was beginning to think you’d never wake up.”
“W-what? What did you do to me?”
“I didn’t kill you, I know that much.” he rose from his seat.
“What?...Where am I??”
“My home...well. Our home now.” he walked towards you. “I know what you’re thinking-”
“You saw it too didn’t you?” you cut him off. “I know you know what it means...so tell me.”
“I’m not sure...all I know is that I couldn’t kill you. Before I knew it, I bit my own hand and made you take my own blood...I’ve never done that when changing someone.”
“Changing?!” you widened your eyes. “You...you PEICE OF!” you raised your fist when you realized just how clearly you could make out every crevice and divot on your hand and nails. “N-no this isn’t real!”
“Oh it is, my sweet.” he tiptoes his fingers up arm. You took a small step back, staring down at yourself.
“ What a gorgeous dress…but it’d look better torn to ribbons don’t you think? “ he grabbed your hands in his. “Stop resisting and accept your new fate.”
“I feel strange.” you expressed honestly. “Is it supposed to feel like this?” you stared up at him.
He tilted your head up, staring at your innocence.
“It can feel even better. Vampires are godly lovers...very few have laid with me...if you agree, you can be mine.”

Newly Seperated: Noctis x Reader
Tumblr media
Some angst requested long ago but we never really got around to it, but here it is!!
Song Choice: St. Jude - Florence and the Machine
Hollow.
Almost as if you yourself were actually hollow, that's how bad it was.
You felt no emotion, mainly because you didn't know how to process information like this. You didn't know whether to be sad, to be angry, to be confused.
You sat there on your couch, staring at the television, eyes glued no longer to the live footage of the Citadel in all of its royal glory, but to the latest news headline.
You had just turned on the local news to see what the weather would be like tonight as Noctis had promised you that he would take you out as he had been busy with boring council meetings and pointless calls on complete bullshit. You didn't blame him though, he was the prince, he would be taking up the throne soon, he was stressed and he would be shoved and pulled into calls and meetings all the time. You knew what you were signing up for when you agreed on dating Noctis.
You knew it even more when he had proposed to you nearly a year and a half ago.
Oh Gods.
You suddenly felt sick to your stomach. You felt your throat squeezing tightly, it was suddenly too hard to breathe. You felt like you were going to faint and... was it suddenly too hot in here?
With swaying vision, you kept rereading the headlines, the news broadcasters quickly rambling on what was happening on the live footage.
'Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum to wed Lady Lunafreya Nox Fleuret.'
It was a peace treaty, something Regis himself couldn't back his kingdom out of. You could see the look of pain on his face in the few shots of him the news had captured, Noctis looking even worse.
You couldn't help but fiddle with the engagement ring still on your fing-
The ring.
You felt as though you were suddenly punched in the gut. You tore your eyes away from the television screen to look down at the ring on your finger.
Pure sparkling silver engraved with swirls and spirals with the brightest and clearest sapphires and diamonds you have ever seen. It was something out of a fairy tale, it was so beautiful.
You suddenly felt disgusting wearing it, like you weren't worthy to wear it.
It's because you're not.
You felt like you were going to vomit from dizzying this whole situation was. Chills ran down your spine like icy fingers, a frozen ball sat deep in your gut. You couldn't breathe. Your hand that adorned the engagement ring had suddenly grown too heavy as though your ring finger had suddenly turned to heavy lead.
Your breath had started to shudder, your vision started to blur with tears.
It was all starting to settle in now, the whole situation now starting to sink into your mind that now felt like shattering glass.
With trembling fingers, you slid the engagement ring off and set it on the coffee table in front of you where you watched it for maybe another few minutes, allowing tears to fall as you silently cried to yourself in your mind. No matter what you wanted to do, you couldn't find any drive to open your mouth and sob and wail. Instead, tears were blinked away, they trailed down your cheeks and soaked into your bottoms before the television had suddenly distracted you once again.
"We've just received word that Prince Noctis was asked his opinion on the established peace treaty with Niflheim," the male reporter stated in his usual monotone drawl.
Instead, the front steps of the Citadel remained empty. Noctis did not step foot outside to face the crowd.
What was he going to do? What would he say? He'll give up the safety of his people for a commoner with no trace of royal blood?
Instead, the reporters stood in shock as Noctis never left the Citadel doors to address them. Not even Ignis nor Regis stepped outside.
Instead, an official from Niflheim had stepped out, a man with wine red hair and the creepiest grin on his aged face. You could feel horrible energy through your television just from looking at him, only to be revealed as the High Chancellor of Niflheim himself: Ardyn Izunia.
You didn't listen to his cheshire voice spew out curdled words, instead opting to mute the television altogether.
And that was when you heard your phone blowing up from its spot on the charger in the kitchen. You didn't have the energy to get up, but you had somehow willed your legs to push you up from the sofa and stumbled out into the kitchen, tossing the charger away and squinting at how bright your phone suddenly became with spams of text messages from multiple people; Gladio, Prompto, Ignis, Nyx and... Noctis...
You tore apart every text message.
Prompto was apologetic, offering comfort and fun times.
Gladio and Nyx were both offering help, offering to help you grieve with things to take your mind off this.
Ignis was level-headed and patient, promising you to help you heal and explain everything to you when the time was right.
And Noctis, you only got one message from him:
'Stay where you are. I'm coming.'
You suddenly looked back to the television with red and swollen eyes, mouth slacking as it clicked in your head.
Noctis didn't come out the front, he snuck through the back like you both did when you first started dating to avoid detection from Gladio and Ignis as well as his father.
You went back to stand in front of the television, watching with a weird feeling in your gut as time ticked by faster than you expected.
You were suddenly startled out of your trance with the news station when the front door of your shared apartment swung open to reveal Noctis standing there.
He was out of breath, hair a complete mess from running his hands through it when stressed, eyes pink from crying and nose still a little red.
You both found yourselves embracing each other tightly as if the other would fade out of existence. Your legs had crumpled, knees collapsing to the floor as you both clawed at each others clothing. Noctis was trembling under your grasp, but you didn't know if he was shaking with rage or out of grief.
"I'm so sorry," he mourned into your shoulder. "I'm so sorry I couldn't stop this."
Your shoulder by this point was soaked with tears, your shirt now stretched out due to him grabbing two fistfuls and pulling.
"It's okay," you sniffled, scratching at the back of his neck gently. "It's okay, we'll figure something out," you mumbled by his ear.
"Please," he somehow tugged you closer despite there being no pocket of space between the two of you anymore, "I can't lose you. I can't (Y/n)."
"It's all going to be okay," you whimpered into his jacket.
But just like back in the good days where you would sneak through, Ignis would always be the one to catch you.
You saw his lean figure in the doorway, the advisor looking as though he had shed a few tears on his way to fetch the prince from the loss of your engagement to Noctis. But seeing how Noctis was clinging to you had Ignis back off, deciding it was best to wait as he couldn't bear tearing him away from the one person that made him the happiest.
So you sat there in your shared apartment, Noctis' dry sobs the only sound in your ear as you rocked him in your arms, fearing this would be the last time you would see your true love.

Tuti had never been so frightened in her life. With her back to the wall, she attempted to gather her bearings. The task was proving to be a futile effort, for her lungs clamored for oxygen. Her throat felt shattered with every inhale of breath. She was quite surprised to have a voice given her consistent screaming. A part of her subconscious that wasn’t falling apart at the seams joked she could’ve passed as an operatic singer in another life, for her air capacity seemed unyielding.
Unyielding…Gods, she wished to have such strength. Her fingertips quivered against the cobblestone upon her back, wondering if she should look around the corner. A terrible crunch had Tuti reconsider tactics as her body flinched. Low growls intertwined with a quelching noise that fanned the flames of dread inside of her. She could feel it slither down her back, causing her legs to tremble.
Tuti knew what awaited her around the edge, and the ghastly sight that would surely burn into her conscious for all time. Yet her curiosity was tempted to take a gander at what Y/N was doing to the bodies.
Only for a second…She told herself. Just one second…
Tuti sealed her lips tight--took in a deep breath--and inched little by little.
As her head turned she resisted the urge to gasp. Six to seven corpses were scattered around. She and Y/N were a long way from the building that MedZin originally trapped them at. Tuti reminded herself there were plenty of lost souls to be found, and her eyes followed a trail of fresh blood. She settled her gaze on Y/N's back.
Tuti squinted her eyes to get a better look. Y/N was crouched above the body of a woman. Although she couldn’t make heads or tails of what was happening, she knew Y/N was eating her. The squishy noise of flesh being ripped had Tuti’s stomach fighting the urge to throw up as goosebumps trailed the fine hairs along her arms.
Gods be damned upon me…Regret took the form of tears in the corner of her eyes.
Tuti knew she should’ve bolted when the men unhanded her to deal with Y/N’s daemonic state. She should’ve ran like hell until her legs could no longer carry the weight of her guilt, but devotion was a fickle thing. She couldn’t in good conscience leave Y/N behind. Not even if they had become a monster and massacred all who tried to stand in their way. Y/N was important, and so was witnessing every horrible act they committed.
Tuti’s thoughts were interrupted as Y/N's growls began to stagnate. Their breathing quaked, and they suddenly flung the corpse away from them.
Tuti jumped as the body tumbled off to the side. The strength behind the shove had her grimace. She could only imagine what her poor body would've felt had she been on the receiving end. Her pondering ceased as her eyes once again followed Y/N.
Y/N started to crawl on all fours as if bipedalism was an uncommon state of being. Their head violently shook from side to side while anguished shrills crept past their lips. Eyes tightly closed as bits of light from the sun trickled into the room. Suddenly, Y/N began to choke on warm blood that flooded their entire throat. Their body heaved as contents from their stomach began to spill. Black bile and bits of meat collapsed onto the floor, creating a noise that sounded like expired milk meeting concrete. The sensation was beyond words and disgust. Painful wheezes were the only noise Y/N made for a time.
The purge of flesh had momentarily snapped Y/N’s conscious out of its catatonic state. They collapsed on their side, only to scramble to their knees once they caught a whiff of the vomit that lay not far. Weakly, Y/N forced the upper half of their body to rise. With heavy breaths, Y/N opened their black and yellow eyes as their head leaned back. They stared at the ceiling as the world twisted in disarray. They had no idea who they were, or what was going on, but everything felt terribly wrong.
Y/N slowly brought their hands up to their eyes. A blotched purple hue plagued their skin as did black spider webbing. Then there was the blood. A murky red that nearly camouflaged well against their clawed fingertips. The copper smell inflamed their nostrils, and their heart skipped a beat. For a split second, Y/N became aware of what was going on. Tears instantly streamed from their eyes, mingling with the same black bile that touched their chin and mouth. The scourge--catching wind that it's hold was failing--attempted to steer it's vessel in another direction. Y/N felt their skull split in half as their brain was doused in sickness.
Throwing back their head, Y/N let out an inhuman screech. The sounds devolved into melancholic growls. More sun came through and they covered their eyes. In a frenzy, Y/N dug their nails into their scalp to relieve themself of pain. Their cries weakened further, and their normal voice started to peak through the cracks of daemonification.
All Tuti could do was cover her mouth as she watched. Her own tears had become heavy as she witnessed Y/N attempting to shine through the monstrous mask. She could scarce believe it. That there was someone that still remained underneath all that.
A loose lightbulb overhead suddenly dropped near Tuti’s location. She gasped into her hand, observing the shattered glass then looked up. Y/N was staring right at her, unblinking.
“By the six, Y/N…” Tuti stuttered. “Don’t come here. Please. Please. Don’t come here.”
Y/N’s head canted to the side in a swift motion. The movement reminded Tuti of a bird cocking its head out of curiosity. Y/N sniffled and leaned forward. Once again on their hands and knees, they slowly crawled toward Tuti. Y/N's features went neutral while never taking their eyes off of her.
Tuti wanted to scream.
Most would’ve followed animal instinct and run, but Tuti froze. She tried to rationalize her choice to remain, given what she witnessed when the MedZin soldiers attempted to flee. They were cut limb from limb in a matter of seconds. Perhaps if she stood her ground, this creature at the helm of Y/N’s body wouldn’t see her as a threat. By all accounts this was stupid, but she had no other choice but to lock in as Y/N was no more than ten feet away now.
Y/N’s head twitched as they sniffed the air. Blinking a few times, the neutrality they wore began to shift. Fright plagued the dark eyes that stared right at Tuti. Uncertain what to make of her, all the while remaining attentive to what she’d do next.
Tuti felt like she was going to have a heart attack.
“It’s alright,” Tuti whispered, more to herself than to Y/N. “It’s alright.”
Y/N seemed to be hypnotized by her words, and Tuti let out a breath she had been holding back. The purr like snort Y/N let out would’ve been almost endearing had they not been consuming a person moments ago.
“Y/N, it’s okay.” Tuti nodded as her lips quivered into a smile. “Everything’s going to be fine!”
Everything’s going to be fine, but not for the dead...Tuti recalled the body count and bit her lip. Now wasn't the time for survivors guilt. Not when she had Y/N more or less settled down.
“Y/N,” Tuti murmured. “I’m going to get help. Do you know what that means? I’m going to fetch the Chancellor. He’ll be here, and you’ll be okay. You hear that? You’re going to be just fine. He’ll fix this!”
She took one step backward and all hell broke loose.
Y/N lunged forward, snapping their mouth in rapid succession at Tuti while they attempted to grab her. Tuti let out a high pitch scream and bolted. Panting heavily, she sprinted down a hall and made a right. Her body slammed into a door, and she let out a pained yelp. She ignored whatever bruises were gained and continued to run as the sound of Y/N's brisk claws rapidly trailed. Suddenly, Tuti felt a huge weight upon her back as Y/N launched themself at her.
Tuti shrieked and she tumbled to the floor with Y/N. Save for the stinging lacerations Y/N inflicted, Tuti couldn't make heads or tails of what was going on. She yelled and used her weight against Y/N, and forced them both to roll over several times before coming to a stop. Tuti felt the wind knock out of her as Y/N slammed her to the ground. Frantically, Tuti's right arm reached out for whatever was near, and pulled a rifle off a MedZin corpse and used it to block Y/N's mashing teeth from reaching her face at the last second.
“Y/N! Stop it!” Tuti bellowed. Her plead fell on deaf ears as Y/N kept snapping. The material of the gun was being peeled away quick, and Tuti knew she didn’t have long. Her eyes rapidly glanced between both their bodies, and using all her strength, Tuti pushed up and kicked Y/N not once but several times in the abdomen.
One pained cry after another escaped Y/N, and while stunned, Tuti adjusted the rifle and used it to hit them across the face. The power behind Tuti’s hit forced Y/N off as they plummeted to the side and away from her.
Tuti scrambled to her feet and ran before Y/N had the chance to recover and finish the job. She ran so fast that the muscles in her calves began to spasm.
“You there, miss!” An Accordo trooper beckoned Tuti to come forth. “Miss, do you need help? We’re looking for survivors of an explosion! Miss! Miss!”
Tuti didn’t register the soldiers who had come to search for survivors. She didn’t hear Y/N let out a haunting scream, nor did she hear the conversation the men had amongst themselves as to what caused it. She didn’t hear them make haste toward Y/N’s location. She didn’t hear the yells, the gunfire, or the sound of an unknown weapon going off, causing Y/N pain beyond measure that the daemonic voice all but disappeared as the human within called out her name.
“TUTI!”
Her ears fell numb to the world, and she didn’t stop running.
After what felt like an eternity, exhaustion had Tuti come to a halt. Out of breath and wheezing, Tuti forced her dry eyes to look around and figure out where she ended up. Buildings that hadn't been touched by the earlier attack greeted her as did a clear sky. The smoke was long gone, and there were seldom few down this road, save for Accordo troopers securing the area. It didn't take long for Tuti to realize she was in one of the districts closest to the port.
“Thank heavens,” she said in between harsh breaths. She grimaced at feeling her clothes stick to her skin from all her perspiration, and felt guilty. This was nothing compared to what Y/N was enduring--that is if they were still alive. Tuti didn't have time to entertain the thought any further as a strong hand gripped her shoulder. She felt the world spin and she screamed.
Ardyn flinched from the screech, making a face as he shook his head. “Tuti?”
“Chancellor Izunia?” Tuti’s bottom lip quivered, happy to see a familiar face. She threw her arms out and embraced him. "Oh thank the six!"
Ardyn was dumbfounded as his arms flew up to avoid being fully ensnared. He acknowledged Tuti had a forcible strength despite her small frame, and wasn't sure if that shocked him or the fact someone genuinely sounded relieved to be basking in his presence. He looked down and his gaze met hers. Tuti's heartsore eyes reminded Ardyn of a devout praying before the heavens to be freed of strife.
“Y/N is back there! I couldn’t do anything but watch. There was so much blood! Y/N’s not themself, and I don’t know what to do! What are we going to do? I didn’t want to run, but what choice did I have?! Y/N tried to kill me and I…Chancellor, what are we going to do?!”
“My dear, you’re going to let me go for starters.” Ardyn grimaced as he calmly coaxed Tuti’s arms and hands away from him. He composed himself the best he could, and softened his hardened gaze. “Second, I need you to breathe. Can you do that?”
“I don’t know if I can. I don’t know if I can do that!”
“You can and you will if you care for what happens to Y/N!” Ardyn stated firmly. He somewhat prided himself in the fact he scared her, for Tuti's disposition immediately changed like a switch going off. She shook like a cat who had nearly drowned as Ardyn gestured for her to follow his motions, taking in a big inhale followed by an exhale. Little by little, she started to regain her old self from what he gathered.
“Good, good,” Ardyn replied eagerly. He only had so much patience to aid someone with a basic mindfulness technique.
“Chancellor--”
“Tuti,” Ardyn rested both hands upon her shoulders, minding not to put his weight on her. He made a great effort to not sound hostile, nor give away the desperation that was tugging his pulse. “It’s imperative I know where Y/N is at. I need you to tell me everything.”
“I…alright,” Tuti swallowed. She studied Ardyn's features, noting how tired he was, and she felt a pinch of intimidation run down her body. She also couldn't help but notice how golden his eyes were. Not like the earthy brown tones she had seen in many common people, but an almost ethereal hue that felt dangerous. For a second, Tuti thought she was looking at Y/N's daemonic eyes. Her breath hitched and she averted her gaze. No longer having the strength to be reminded of what almost killed her.
“Y/N and I were heading for the port to evacuate. The Imperial caravan at the hotel was long gone by the time Loqui and I found them. We took to the smaller roads to avoid the crowds. Then out of nowhere, there was this…explosion. It was like a star fell from the heavens and blinded us. The impact sent Y/N and I flying in opposite directions. When I came to, I frantically looked for Y/N before I was manhandled by these people in black uniforms with a red patch--MedZin I think. They talked so fast, but they planned to take Y/N with them and kill me.” She had to pause for a moment, shuddering from the implications of her fate had Y/N not taken to rage.
“And then?” Ardyn besought.
Tuti let out a breath. “Y/N suddenly turned into…something else. A daemon. One by one, our adversaries were slain, but MedZin tossed another one of those bombs at us. Y/N retreated deeper into the building to avoid it. I stupidly chased, and Y/N just kept getting more and more violent. MedZin retreated at that point because Y/N overwhelmed them--"
“Do you know where the men ran off to?” Ardyn interrupted.
“No,” Tuti shook her head. “I wasn’t paying attention. I was too scared Y/N was going to find me. There was a moment I thought Y/N came to their senses, but they tried to attack me. I ended up hurting them, and I think Accordo troopers went seeking them out.” she pointed past him. “The building, it was several blocks down that way…you can’t miss the impact site of the bomb.”
Ardyn let go of Tuti’s shoulders and made a fist. His fingers were loosing blood from the pressure he applied.
“Chancellor, I beseech you I didn’t mean to leave Y/N behind,” Tuti sniffled. She could sense the brief hostility that traveled through him, despite his hands no longer being upon her body. “I’m so sorry--I thought…”
“Don’t speak any further,” Ardyn breathed. He resisted the urge to strike, knowing most would’ve done what she did in order to survive. Using his right index finger, Ardyn poked underneath Tuti’s chin and coaxed her to look up before letting go. “You have my sincere appreciation for what you’ve confessed. What come may, I’ll handle everything.”
“T-thank you, Chancellor.” Tuti weakly gave a bow with her head. As she rose, she followed Ardyn’s hand while he gestured toward a group of Higher Imperials from afar, being escorted by two magitek soldiers. Her heart skipped a beat, knowing there were familiar faces.
“Go to them,” Ardyn encouraged. “Now.”
Tuti glanced over him one last time before she found the courage to pick up her feet again.
After taking in the destruction nearby, Ardyn shadow stepped and headed for the spot Tuti had pointed out. While he transcended through space like nothing, he suddenly felt his body wanting to give out, and it did just that. His breathing raced as the scourge traveled through him, and Ardyn suddenly came to a grinding halt.
“Oh Gods…” He hoarsely whispered, feeling his heart cease like it had been grasped by someone with a tight grip. The last time Ardyn felt his heart stop beating was when Somnus struck him down during their duel for the throne. He remembered it well. Pain and confusion danced in harmony as air left his lungs, and the muscle of his heart desperately pumped without realizing the action would be its undoing. Ardyn felt that same suffering both physically and metaphorically in the present.
Multiple points on his body started to become inflamed, as if the very fibers of Ardyn's muscles wanted to break through his skin. He then heard horrid screams pulse in his ears, and behind his eyes he saw a familiar daemonic entity wearing Y/N's face. The scourge felt beyond excited. The rush of despair Ardyn felt at the last second on Y/N's behalf at Outpost 98 came back to haunt him with a vengeance. Y/N--his Y/N--was close to the finish line just as before.
“Pull yourself together!” Ardyn snarled. He once again shadow stepped as if the gods themselves were trailing him in a hunt.
Minutes passed, and Ardyn neared the site of the explosion. He didn’t want to waste time, but couldn’t resist taking a gander at the impact point. A hint of a sulfur like odor hung in the air which caused him to grimace. He then picked up on a bouquet of scents that had the scourge in his body attempting to shirk away. The hivemind didn’t like this. Not one bit.
“A suffoco was deployed,” Ardyn said quietly to himself, and looked ahead to the large hole that led inside the building. A shroud of screams came tumbling out, and Ardyn braced himself for the worst as he ventured forth into the fray.
The interior of the building was an abysmal mess. What was once a lavish series of offices and intricate halls was now a pigsty of debris, brick, and blood. Ardyn didn’t envy whoever worked here. He imagined how tedious the task would be picking up after the carnage he had observed left and right. The foul sweet smell of the scourge within Y/N’s blood waft in the air, and like an addict, Ardyn eagerly followed the trail.
A noise with a rhythmic tap rang in his ears before the explosion went off. Ardyn lost his balance, and slouched against the wall nearest to his right. It felt as if the rays of the sun kissed through all layers of his flesh. A pained moan fell past his lips. His right hand reached for his chest, and trembled up his neck as a strain took hold.
Confusion rampaged across Ardyn’s eyes while he rapidly glanced around. With each pass of air through his lungs, Ardyn felt his organs clamoring for relief. The commotion was far away. He hadn’t been hit by a suffoco, but by the gods, did it feel like it.
As his ears rang, the rapid tempo of a pulse soon took over as the dominant noise. It wasn’t his heartbeat, but that of another. It hit him all at once as his mind seemingly began to download information at a speed unfathomable to a mortal.
Y/N couldn't breathe. They were alone, terrified, and suffering. The scourge had given up its lust for dominance over the host, and was attacking the body from the inside out in a crude attempt to relieve itself of affliction. Ardyn felt his body flux in temperature. One moment boiling, the next cold as ice. The daemonic entities that resided within screeched so loud, that Ardyn shouted while covering his ears. Falling forward, the shrieking evolved into desperate murmurs of incoherent thought.
“Y/N,” Ardyn gasped. His brain felt like it was melting, but he tried to keep himself afloat. The sclera of his eyes became a pitch black void, and Ardyn instinctively began to follow the voices and Y/N's pulse.
With every step, Ardyn felt agony like no other wash over his soul. He nearly tripped over himself a few times, not used to taking on the burdens of a mortal. Despite discomfort, he persisted on his path. Gods be damned anyone or anything that got in the way of the impulse he felt enslaved to. The very atoms of his being desperately yearned to be with who his scourge had imprinted upon.
Soon enough, Ardyn arrived in the room where he assumed Y/N would be. He stopped to catch his breath and looked downward. Bodies of Accordo troopers littered the area. He couldn’t sense any other life present, until heavy breaths captured his attention.
Ardyn watched in dismay as Y/N suddenly emerged. Like a fish out of water, Y/N crashed and tumbled into everything. In between hysterics, Ardyn noticed Y/N's skin sizzling with an artificial smell that was likened to a rich spice. Y/N had been directly hit by a suffoco, and the light magic within the orb had triggered asphyxiation. He could feel the light that had penetrated attempting to purge the scourge by any means necessary.
Ardyn briefly recalled witnessing demonstrations of the weapons use from Accordo officials. It was one thing to watch in trials, but another to helplessly observe a daemonified creature go through such suffering. He was pulled out of his head as Y/N choked while trying in vain to scream, and made direct eye contact with them.
Despite a pair of abyssal eyes staring him down, Ardyn could see the human showing through. A desperate plead haunted Y/N’s features, and he felt his blood run cold knowing subconsciously what Y/N was telling him despite not having full control of their actions:
They were making their peace with the end.
“No, no, no!” Ardyn shook his head. His voice teetered on the edge between human and monster, enough to startle Y/N. “You don’t have the right to do that! You don’t have the damned right! We don't take the easy way out, Y/N!"
For a moment, Ardyn thought he had them under his control until he witnessed Y/N’s scourge veins rapidly pulsate. It was like witnessing a caterpillar attempting to burst out of its cocoon in a bloody mess. During his turmoil, Ardyn didn't pay attention to the fact Y/N suddenly attacked him. The punches made him snarl, and he felt Y/N cut open his left arm with a swipe of their clawed fingertips. Ardyn let out a pained hiss as Y/N flung themself off and retreated.
“Y/N, come back!” Ardyn beseeched with a yell. “Y/N!”
He chased after them and Y/N collapsed against the legs of a table nearby. Their airway now almost completely blocked, they began to let out a sickening wheeze. Ardyn came to their side and fell upon his knees. He gathered Y/N's body into his arms. His tear brimmed eyes desperately searched them over while he tried to shake them back into consciousness.
“Oh no, no, no! Y/N!” Ardyn's voice strained while his mind flickered between the past and present. Y/N's painful rasps intermingled with the somber breaths Aera had taken before she had perished. History was repeating itself in a way that crushed him more than the blade of Somnus piercing his back, and Ardyn desperately cried out as Y/N violently escaped from his grasp.
Amidst the sudden jolt, Ardyn froze as an idea leeched into his head. If the panic could be settled, if the scourge could be reassured--like he had done for Y/N's flares in the past--perhaps there was a chance of survival. Instinct beckoned him to give more of his scourge to Y/N, and to lure Y/N's pain to a singular point.
Ardyn's mouth fell open as he saw the irony of their roles being reversed. It was now Y/N's turn to feed off him in order to heal. While the thought seemed counterintuitive, he had to try. He couldn't--no, he wouldn't go through a painful loss again. He rapidly began to think of ways to get the scourge into Y/N. There was nothing sterile like a syringe near, and he scarce doubted such an item existed in an office setting. Ardyn nearly settled for hovering his injured arm above their mouth and letting the scourge drip, but he realized Y/N could choke further.
"There's gotta be some damned way to-!"
Ardyn looked down at his sliced arm, watching blood and dark bile seep from the wound. His heart skipped a beat as revelation cleared his mind, then carefully brought the injured limb to his mouth and started to suckle. Ardyn could feel the underside of his tongue fill with scourge, and he tried to contain it without it falling to the back of his throat. After consuming much, he lifted his head. Blood and scourge oozed from the corners of his mouth as a determined fixation lingered in his gaze.
While Y/N began to rise from the ground, Ardyn’s right hand grabbed a hold of their head from the chin in a tight vice. He forcibly turned them around. Y/N gagged out a hoarse yell in protest. The whites of their eyes were pushing and pulling against the darkness. Ardyn could sense through their agony that they didn’t want to fight him, but had no control over themselves. Not in this sorry state.
Before Y/N had the chance to attack, Ardyn brashly pinned Y/N to the ground with his body. Either side of his arms caged their head. He leaned forward and Y/N cried out as his left hand cupped the side of their face. Ardyn let go of his hesitance, tilted his head, and softly pressed his lips to Y/N's. Closing his eyes, he forced his tongue inside their mouth and remained still, letting the scourge he had gathered slowly descend into Y/N's body.
Little by little, Ardyn felt Y/N's trembling cease. He calmly breathed through his nose, and flinched when his throat captured one of Y/N's gasps. The scourge was definitely distracted. He could feel it begin to sync up with his own, losing its fear to the light that he was snuffing out. Gods be damned to all hells known if this wasn't going to work. This had to work. He would make it so.
As the seconds ticked on, Ardyn moved his mouth ever so slightly. His tongue lifted and tugged against Y/N's, controlling the flow of the scourge. The sound of Y/N's heartbeat in his ears began to dissipate as his own increased. He felt a moan from Y/N reverberate through his mouth, and impulsively returned a groan of pleasure. Euphoria began to flood him, which confused Ardyn greatly. He shouldn't have been deriving any sort of satisfaction from this act yet his nerves melted. His knees grew weak as he felt Y/N's bottom lip feebly tug. If he didn't know better, they were trying to kiss him back.
Ardyn tried to not allow such sentiment to interfere with his aid. This was nothing but a transaction to ensure both parties would survive, yet he could feel himself succumbing to the similar affections he craved at the springs. There was a part of Ardyn, a part he denied, that hoped the kiss would linger. He prayed even harder that Y/N wouldn't pick up on these feelings through their bond.
Ardyn's face flushed with warmth while he slightly opened his eyes. He admired the little imperfections in Y/N's skin before the hand that was cradling their face gripped further. His thumb brushed upon their flesh delicately and he closed his eyes yet again and deepened the dark kiss. His movements were deliberately slow, giving Y/N plenty of time for their body to settle and even push him away should they be fairing well. Ardyn could feel Y/N's scourge merge with the hivemind that flickered in the back of his subconscious. It wouldn't be long before it would become dormant at his behest.
A muffled groan from Y/N’s end had Ardyn freeze. The noise wasn’t feeble and broken but strong, indicating to him that Y/N could breathe freely. He relinquished whatever desires that held him, and lifted his lips from Y/N’s. His eyes carded over their face, relief grasping him at seeing natural color return to Y/N’s flesh. Save for the small patches of scourge markings, they were by all accounts normal. He hoped in mind, that similar results would show. That Y/N was still there, in their head and in control.
Ardyn removed himself from Y/N. He adjusted his legs, now sitting upon his knees as he bundled up Y/N close to his chest. While supporting Y/N with his left arm, Ardyn used his right hand to softly nudge their face. Fear tip toed around him as he pondered the what ifs. Y/N wasn’t dying no longer. The scourge all but confirmed that, but such assurance from spirits of darkness did little to calm the erratic ache of not knowing in full.
“Y/N,” Ardyn whispered in plea. “Y/N, talk to me. Talk to me."
He stilled when Y/N opened their eyes. There was no trace of a familiar set of amber orbs looking upon him as if he had held up a mirror to himself.
“Hi,” Y/N croaked. The word was faint and scratchy, but it was enough. Shortly after, Y/N closed their eyes and passed out. Their body and mind too worn to comprehend the world.
Despite them passing out, words couldn't convey nor touch how relieved Ardyn felt in this moment. To be free of loss's burden was a blessing sweeter than all the sins he had committed upon others. Ardyn closed his eyes while settling down his nerves, and embraced Y/N tightly to him. Had he been a pious man, perhaps the gods would've deserve some praise for the occasion, but alas not. He saved Y/N himself. An immortal--Adagium--saved someone with his own curse.
“What are you doing?”
Like a mirror being crashed into, Ardyn’s body stiffened at the intrusion of Loqui's voice. He was rattled out of his peace, and the deep yellows behind his black eyes constricted while he growled under breath.
“Chancellor, what are you doing with Y/N?” Loqui’s voice grew louder. He stepped forward, and his mouth fell open. Shock fell upon his face as he caught glimpse of the scourge markings that covered Y/N's legs. "Y/N's...no, Y/N's a daemon?"
Ardyn kept his back to Loqui, shielding the majority of Y/N from him. His shoulders quaked as the relief he had felt seconds ago, began to burn off into a resentful anger.
“This can’t be!” Loqui stepped back. He shook his head. “Did the attackers infect Y/N?!”
“No,” Ardyn lowly replied.
“So then…” Loqui’s voice trailed off as he started to put it together. He could feel his face turning a pale. “Has Y/N been sick this whole time?”
“You were supposed to be watching them!” Ardyn bellowed. He turned his face to the side; daemonic features long gone yet his animosity remained. "You stupid, reckless, boy!"
The sudden scream had Loqui jump and lose his train of thought. He watched Ardyn rise to his feet with Y/N in tow. Despite being scared, Loqui felt weeks of pent up frustration toward the Chancellor come tumbling out. He stood his ground, and glared while firmly talking back to Ardyn.
“Chancellor or not, you will not address me as such!”
“I can damn well call you by the name of every filth on Eos if it would give me pleasure!” Ardyn spat. “Y/N and I argued for a day and night over you being their guardian while I attended the empires affairs in Altissa, and your negligence almost cost them everything!”
“You can’t pin this all on me!” Loqui retaliated. “My commands from the battalion take precedence in the event of--!”
“Precedence? Don’t make me laugh!” Ardyn interrupted with a bitter scoff. “I know you all too well, boy. You walk in the shadow of your father and wished to be seen in the same light as he. That’s why aiding the House of the Courts benefited you versus keeping Y/N--and Tuti for that matter--safe from our enemies! It wouldn’t bode well on your resume, no, but saving Madam Secretary and all those Higher Imperials would’ve done numbers for your reputation! Admit it you little leech!”
“You don't know a damn thing about me, and you should talk! Like you've done any better regarding Y/N's welfare!" Loqui countered. “All this time Y/N has been sick with the starscourge, and you didn’t do or say anything about it? Does the emperor know?! Is Chief Besithia aware of that?!”
“I am not privy to disclose or break Y/N’s confidence to the likes of you, regardless of how highly they’ve spoken of your character!” Ardyn yelled. “Y/N’s burdens are mine and Chief Besithia’s responsibility, not yours nor anyone else!”
“So Y/N is a pet project then? Something for you and the Research Ministry to poke and prod at?!” Loqui felt his blood boil at the mere thought. “The laws are clear, Chancellor that we ease the suffering of those afflicted! The starscouge is a fate worse than death, the whole world knows that even our enemies! You're an inhuman monster for this! If you cared anything for Y/N, you'd-!"
“Don’t you DARE tell me I don’t care about them!”
The air stilled as both men froze, staring one another down.
There was a time that Loqui believed while he could never beat the Chancellor in a game of wits, he could physically usurp him. The feelings of betrayal and anger tempted Loqui to prove his point. His mind was already made up, yet his body didn’t move to the commands of his conscious. Loqui was surprised. The fury behind Ardyn’s words were long gone, but the presence of an unfathomable rage lingered like a sickness that refused to part ways.
Ardyn never once flinched. His firm posture--the way he held Y/N protectively to him--indicated to Loqui he had struck a nerve so deep, that the false bravado Ardyn displayed among the public could devolve into something dangerous. He had just earned himself a little taste of it. The very nerves under his flesh tinged at the realization.
Loqui let out a snort, and lowered his head. Literally bowing out of a potential brawl. He made as fist as Ardyn began to walk with Y/N in tow and stopped. Loqui could feel the Chancellor’s eyes raining daggers upon him, and refused to look him in the eye.
“There’s a thousand ways we can go about this, but I’ll keep it simple.” Ardyn coldly spoke. “Speak of Y/N’s condition to anyone, and I’ll ensure unfathomable suffering befalls you and your kin.”
Loqui flinched. “You’d really resort to that?”
“To protect Y/N, and the interests of empire itself, yes.” Ardyn firmly replied. He leaned in closer so he was nearly whispering in Loqui’s ear menacingly. “If I had half a mind, I'd encourage the Imperial army to demote you to such a low rank that worms would take precedence over your value. Alas, I will not be moving forward with such commands. I do this kindness for Y/N by sparing you, but make note: this will be the first and last time you ever question my sensibilities. Is that quite understood?"
“Yes…”
“Yes what?”
Loqui grit his teeth. “Yes Chancellor.”
“That’s what I love to hear.”
Loqui’s emotions were teetering on the edge at the way Ardyn mockingly said love. He didn’t know if Ardyn was mocking his feelings to Y/N, or if the Chancellor himself was admitting his own emotions in a subtle ploy. Mind games were not Loqui’s forte, nor did he ever want to become a person who enjoyed said things. It was best to let it go, despite having the urge to chuck his sword right through the man's chest while his guard was down.
Enraged and at a loss, Loqui didn't hear Ardyn make his departure. Nor did he hear him state he would be seeking medical attention for Y/N. Loqui peered up and watched as Ardyn disappeared down the hall, leaving him with eviscerated corpses. The likes of which Loqui couldn't fathom. He grimaced as nausea curled its finger around his chin and tempted him onward.
As he left the massacre behind him, Loqui couldn’t help but wonder if it was Y/N or the Chancellor who had committed these violent acts. Knowing Y/N was tainted by the scourge, it had to be them. But there was something about the Chancellor’s manner that him questioning everything down to his loyalties. He couldn't help but wonder how far the rabbit hole went, and wished more than anything, that he could lean on the wisdom of his father.

Book One: Gold (Prompto x Reader) Chapter V
Once back in Lestallum, the group reported to Talcott and Jared about their finds. As they were about to leave the Leville, Noctis experiences another headache. In order to dissect the source of his headaches, they decided to take a closer look at the Disc of Cauthess from the outlook. When they arrived, they ran into two familiar faces.
"What a coincidence," the auburn-haired man smiled eerily at the group.
Gladio crosses his arms. "I'm not so sure it is."
The man strolled up to them, leaving his spiky-haired companion behind. He came to a stop in front of (Y/n). "Oh, my. You must be the lovely maiden my dear companion spoke of. A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, my dear." He bowed politely before trying to reach out and grab her hand. However, Prompto reached out and pulled the girl away from him before the man could touch her.
"You know this guy?" The spirit whispered to the blonde.
"We kinda had a run-in with him in Galdin Quay," Prompto answered.
The auburn-haired man was unfazed by the marksman's reaction and decided to back away, changing the subject in the process. "Aren't nursery rhymes curious things? Like this one: "From the deep, the Archaean calls... Yet on deaf ears, the gods' tongue falls, The King made to kneel, in pain, he crawls.""
Prompto, who now stood in front of (Y/n), asked, "So how do we keep him on his feet?"
"You need only heed the call. Visit the Archaean and hear his plea." He spun around to face them, his smile never wavering. "We can take you."
Prompto looked around at his friends. "We in?"
Noctis was unsure of the men and didn't trust either of them. "I don't know."
"We take a ride..." The sharpshooter began.
"...but watch our backs," Gladio finished.
"Fair enough," Ignis said.
Noctis agreed with his friends. "Let's do it."
(Y/n) hadn't been paying attention to their conversation. Her golden eyes were focused on the familiar spiky-haired man who she had met yesterday. She never got his name, but there's no way she could forget his appearance. She was torn from her thoughts when Prompto shook her shoulder. Looking away from the emerald-eyed man, she stared into the blonde's cerulean eyes. "Huh?"
"You okay?" Prompto asked. He glanced at the man who had yet to speak, then back at the girl. "Isn't that the guy from yesterday?"
"It is..." She was even more suspicious of him than the auburn-haired man. She didn't trust either of them, but respected the boys' decision to allow them to be their escort for a short time.
The auburn-haired man smiles and begins walking toward the car park with his companion by his side. "I'm not one to stand on ceremony, but such an occasion calls for an introduction. Please, call me "Ardyn." And this..." He gestures to the man beside him. "Is Callyx. He's a dear old friend of mine. Come with us to the car park. That's where I left my automobile. She's a dear old thing. Pales next to your Regalia, but she's never let me down. So we take two vehicles-a convoy of sorts. Shall we?"
When arriving at Ardyn's car, the auburn-haired man turned to face the group. "All set?"
"Let's get this over with," Noctis sighed.
"Allow me to do the honor of assigning your driver... I choose you!" Ardyn pointed at the raven-haired boy.
"Fine by me."
"I do have one final request," Callyx spoke up with his smooth voice. His emerald eyes focused on (Y/n). "Your car will be cramped with five people. The lady should ride with us."
"No way!" Prompto shouted. "(Y/n)'s staying with us."
"Yeah. We're not gonna let her go with you two," Noctis replied.
"I only wish to speak with her on our drive over to the Disc." Callyx lifted his t-shirt up a little ways to reveal the jade gemstone embedded in his abdomen.
The spirit gasped at the sight. "You're a guardian, too?"
He nodded. "Yeah."
"But your eyes..."
He smirked. "Contacts."
"Oh..."
He took a step closer to her, alerting the royal retinue. Prompto went to pull the girl back when Noctis moved to stand between the two spirits. Callyx noticed how tense the four boys were and raised his hands in surrender. "I'm not going to hurt her. There's something important I have to discuss with her."
"Then do it here and now," Gladio said with a faint growl.
(Y/n) broke free from Prompto's hold and stepped around Noctis to stand directly in front of Callyx. "What's so important that they can't hear it but your friend can?"
"Because I trust him and not your friends. If you don't ride with us, you'll never learn the truth about what the empire is planning."
Her mouth opened and closed. She wanted to say something, but she couldn't think of anything. If the information is important and the only cost was riding in their car, she would do it. "Fine. I'll ride with you."
"What?" Prompto gasped.
She casted a reassuring smile towards the blonde. "I'll be fine, Prom. If we can learn what the empire is doing, I'll ride with them."
"Are you certain of your decision, (Y/n)?" Ignis asked.
"Yes."
"B-But..." Prompto began.
Ardyn, however, interrupted him. "You drive your car, I drive mine, and the maiden comes with Callyx and I. With that decided, let us be off."
Prompto stared in shock, watching (Y/n) climb into the backseat of the red car alongside Callyx. He bit his tongue, deciding to hold himself back after seeing her resolve. Reluctantly, he got into the Regalia with his friends. Like a child, he pouted as he watched the red car leave the parking lot.
Outside of Lestallum, the two automobiles sat side by side. Ardyn glanced toward the boys inside the Regalia. "Just to be clear, this isn't a race, it is a chase. You're not to pass me. Lose sight of me, and you'll lose your way. And no tailgating. An accident would spoil the trip."
Noctis, who was behind the wheel, groaned. "All right, all right. Let's hit the road already."
"As you wish. Drive safely, now."
(Y/n) casted Prompto one last smile before they took off. After being a few minutes on the road, she looked over at her fellow spirit. "So, Callyx, what did you wanna tell me?"
The emerald-eyed man glanced at Ardyn for a split second before sighing. "How familiar are you with the conduit?"
"The first time I heard about it was from Noctis. Besides that, I know nothing about it."
"Well then, I guess an explanation is in order." Callyx combed a hand through his spiky black hair. "Centuries ago, there used to be seven Astrals. But all that changed when the seventh god disappeared. No one knows why and most of Eos has forgotten about him. The mighty Brahma, the creator of the universe, vanished without a trace. However, the conduit is rumored to be the only person who can hear and speak to Brahma. They are also the person the Astral has chosen to embody his power and act as his vessel in order to aid the True King."
"And what does this have to do with the empire?" (Y/n) inquired.
"The only beings possible of being the conduit are spirits. Humans are frail and unable to embody the power of an Astral. Our people are being targeted by the empire. They're slaughtering guardians left and right to prevent Brahma's return. I'm only telling you this because you need to know how much danger you are in. If you want to protect yourself, you need to find a safe place to hide. Leave those men and find a place to-"
"Oh, I don't think so," (Y/n) interrupted him. "Have you forgotten? Guardians are meant to protect those that gave them life. There's no way I'm going to leave Prompto to save my own skin. I care too much about him to leave him behind."
"You wouldn't be the first spirit to latch on to a human..." Callyx crossed his legs. "Then again, by the look on that boy's face, you mean a lot to him. Guess I'm kind of jealous."
"Is that all you wanted to tell me?" She sighed.
"Yeah..."
The conversation died. (Y/n) rested her arm on the door, cupping her chin with her palm. She glanced out at the passing scenery, admiring it to distract her from the two men in the car with her. She prayed to the Astrals this road trip would end soon.
A little ways behind the red vehicle was the Regalia. Noctis kept a good distance between them and Ardyn's car to prevent an accident. While the prince, Gladio, and Ignis were chatting away about the two mysterious men, Prompto stared at the car in front of them. His fingers tapped against his knee repeatedly, his leg shaking up and down. His right arm rested on top of the car door with his hand clenched in a fist and resting against his cheek.
When Gladio noticed the blonde's lengthy silence, he glanced at him. Seeing the sharpshooter's gaze locked on the car in front of them, he chuckled. "You that worried, blondie?"
"Of course I am!" Prompto yelled. "(Y/n)'s in a car with two weirdos! Not to mention, one of those weirdos tried to hit on her yesterday!"
"You're freaking out over nothing."
"Wha-no!"
"By the way (Y/n) carried herself in the grotto, I do believe she is quite capable of handling anything or anyone who dares cross her path," Ignis stated.
"I know she's strong, but that doesn't stop me from worrying about her..." Prompto muttered. He managed to look away from the car they were following and pulled out his camera. He scrolled through the various pictures he's taken of (Y/n) so far, admiring her beauty from every angle.
After spending 15 minutes scrolling through pictures, Prompto lifted his head and realized they were pulling over. He glanced around in confusion as they pulled into the Cauthess Coernix Station.
Noctis pulled the Regalia up beside Ardyn's car just as the man got out and asked, "What say we call it a day here?"
""What say" we continue on to Cauthess?" Gladio retorted as he and the other boys climbed out of the Regalia.
"The Archaean's not going anywhere."
"Neither are we, under your stewardship," Ignis replied.
"So we make camp...with Ardyn," Prompto groaned.
"Hell no," Noctis quipped.
"Might as well get the tent up," Gladio said.
Oh, I'm afraid Callyx and I have never really been ones for the outdoors. We shall foot the bill, so let us stay at the caravan over yonder," Ardyn stated.
(Y/n) turned her head towards the male spirit standing beside her. "You're a hunter. Don't you camp out a lot?"
"Yeah, but it doesn't mean I enjoy it," Callyx explained.
"That's... Okay, yeah. Good point."
"Will all of us even fit in the caravan?" Noctis asked.
"Only one way to find out," Ardyn smirked before walking off with his friend.
Once Ardyn and Callyx were gone, (Y/n) sauntered over to the boys. She placed a hand on her hip with a frown. "Can we talk somewhere in private?"
"Oh, no," Prompto gasped. He rushed over to the (h/c)-haired girl and grabbed her arms, shaking her back and forth. "What did they do to you?! Tell me, (Y/n)!"
"H-Hey, take it easy, Prom. They didn't do anything to me." She grabbed his arms to stop him from shaking her. "I just wanted to share with you all what Callyx had to say."
"Then shall we make for the caravan?" Ignis suggested.
"That'd be good."
They entered the caravan. Noctis and Prompto sat on the small wooden bench while Gladio and Ignis decided to stand. (Y/n) closed the door behind them and leaned against it. Wishing not to beat around the bush, she jumped straight to the point. "The empire's hunting down spirits and killing them."
"What?" Ignis gaped in shock.
"What do they hope to gain from that?" Gladio inquired.
"This conduit you heard about from the marshal... It can only be a guardian. Whoever this conduit is has the ability to hear and speak to the forgotten Astral and act as his vessel," she said. "By killing spirits, the empire hopes to stop Brahma from returning."
"Hold up," Noctis spoke up. "There's another Astral?"
"Brahma, the creator of the universe. He's known as the forgotten Astral. Not many know about him, but apparently the empire does."
"Can we really trust this information?" Gladio questioned.
"I...I'm not sure," she confessed. "I don't trust Callyx, but he genuinely looked worried about it when he spoke to me."
"If he is telling the truth, does that mean...?" Prompto gazed at the girl, worried for her safety. "Does that mean the empire will try to kill you?"
"Well..."
Noctis stood up. "Let them come. They're already crawling up our asses anyway."
"What more could they possibly do?" Ignis asked.
"We'll deal with any imperial bastards that cross our path just like we always do," Gladio claimed.
"Yeah!" Prompto cheered. "All of us are a team."
"Team?" (Y/n) parroted.
"Unless you wish not to be," Ignis stated.
"No, it's just..." She rubbed a hand up and down her arm. "I never expected you three to accept me so easily."
"We were all skeptical at first, but you proved yourself in the cave. I thought our whole groove would've been messed up with you around, but you proved me wrong." Gladio patted her on the shoulder. "You fit right in, short stuff."
"Sh-Short stuff...?" She glanced around at the boys before examining her appearance. "Am I really that short?"
"Well... Yeah," Prompto answered. "B-But that's okay!"
She looked away, unamused. "Ugh..."
(Y/n) excused herself and left the caravan. She wandered towards the rear of the convenience store before setting her gaze on the Celestial Crescent. She tilted her head in curiosity when hearing a faint mumbling.
...ui...
She blinked in shock when she could make out a portion of what the voice was saying. "I'm going crazy..."
"What're you talking about?"
(Y/n) tore her gaze away from the darkening sky and looked at Callyx, deciding to lie. "It's nothing, really. I thought the colors of the Celestial Crescent were changing for a second, but my mind was playing tricks on me." She didn't trust him even after he shared information about the empire.
Callyx took a quick glance at the sky before looking at the (h/c)-haired girl, his hands hidden behind his back. "Do you ever hear voices whenever you gaze upon the Celestial Crescent?"
"If you mean the voices in my head, then yes."
Callyx chortled. "That's not what I meant."
She put on a friendly façade. "I know. I'm just messing with you. To answer your question-no, I don't hear voices. Am I supposed to?"
He shook his head. "Not unless you're the conduit. Brahma's consciousness resides within those cluster of stars. He searches for the perfect vessel to regain his physical body, only speaking to the spirit he deems worthy."
"Do we have any idea what'll happen to the conduit once Brahma takes control of their body?"
"Who knows? Maybe they become an empty shell, maybe there are no side effects whatsoever." Callyx suddenly outstretched one of his hands to touch her shoulder, but he stopped mid-way when a familiar bubbly blonde came bounding over calling the girl's name. "Guess I'll give you two some time alone."
Prompto eyed Callyx suspiciously as he walked past him. When he was out of sight, he walked up to (Y/n). "I was kinda getting worried when you didn't come back. Everything okay, (Y/n)?"
"Mhmm," she hummed with a smile. "Everything's peachy."
"I thought you might've been worried about this whole conduit thing. I mean, it is kinda scary the empire is going around and just killing spirits. Are you sure you're doing okay?"
"Really, I'm fine. No need to worry, Prom."
Suddenly, Prompto wound his arms around her and hugged her tightly. He pressed his cheek against her (h/c) hair, frowning sorrowfully. "Y'know, you might be a better liar than me, but I can tell when you're really worried about something, (Y/n). You scrunch up your nose and furrow your brows. I find it kinda...cute."
She sighed, burying her face into his chest. She wound her arms around his torso and mumbled, "I am scared. Scared for my people, scared for me. There aren't many of us, which makes it even more frightening. I'm also scared I'm putting you and the others in even more danger."
Prompto hugged her smaller frame as tight as he could without hurting her. "Hey, don't worry 'bout us. We can handle ourselves. There's no way the empire could defeat us! And..." He nuzzled his nose in her hair, inhaling her gentle scent. "I-We won't let anything happen to you. I know you're supposed to be the one protecting me, but I wanna protect you too. If you were to vanish, I...I wouldn't know what to do."
A warm, gentle smile blossomed on the spirit's face. "I'll never disappear, Prom. Whenever you need me, I'll be there. Even when you don't need me, I'll be by your side. You're stuck with me forever."
Prompto smiled widely. "I wouldn't have it any other way." He fell silent for a moment before clearing his throat, arms remaining tightly wound around (Y/n). "Hey, u-um... After we're done with this Disc business, there's something really important I wanna tell you."
"You can't tell me now?" She inquired.
"Of course not! It's, uh...really important, but I still need a day to...come up with the right words. Think you can wait?"
"Do I really have any other choice?"
"Nope."

Ardyn x Neko Reader
Back again with a random idea of Ardyn being with a neko reader. A bit of a master pet dynamic (just a hint) I guess, anyways hope you enjoy and I’m sorry about Ardyn being OOC.
_______________________________________________
You happily walked around your apartment with your ears and tail out as you cleaned your space, feeling relieved that you got the day off from work. The past week has been stressful and having to hide your ears and tail under different articles of clothing and hats is difficult over long periods of time. You knew you could probably have them showing but neko’s such as yourself were extremely rare in Eos and most times people took advantage of a neko by making them a prized possession of sorts to show off. It reminds you of a rich person showing off their latest accessory or gadget. Your ear twitched slightly as you could hear someone moving through the apartment hallways outside of your door again as it had been happening all morning. You shook your head and the bell attached to the collar around your neck jingles a little bit, you hated hearing all of the little noises but there wasn’t much you could do until your lease was up and you could find a new place to live. It wouldn’t be much longer now either, which was nice, as your one neko friend was willing to let you crash with her right after your lease was up. She was actually coming over today to talk to you about it a little bit more and it won’t be long before she shows up. As if on cue, there was a knock on your door and you put your stuff down before you happily made your way over to the door and opened it up, your stomach dropped as it wasn’t your friend at the door bit your boss, Ardyn Izunia. He seemed a little stunned as he took in your appearance and you bit your lower lip, what the hell is he doing here?
“What brings you here Chancellor?” you asked in an uneasy tone.
“I was coming by to see if you had accidentally put some of my papers into your bag as I happen to be missing some important papers after you left yesterday” Ardyn replied as he looked at your (h/c) ears and tail. You hesitated briefly, wondering why he wouldn’t try to text you instead of just showing up as he now sees you for what you truly are.
“I can check… why don’t you come inside though as I don’t need someone else to see me or wonder why you’re here” you suggested as you let Ardyn into your apartment and closed the door behind him. You quickly went off to your bedroom and grabbed your work bag before returning to your living room and going through your bag in front of Ardyn.
“This is a rather modest place for a neko to have” Ardyn noted as he looked around your apartment, you said nothing back as you found some important looking papers in your bag. You felt your cheeks turn red as you pulled them out and handed them over to Ardyn.
“Here you are Chancellor and I’m sorry about accidentally taking them, my brain must have been in Friday mode when I went to leave” you apologized, Ardyn gently took the papers and gave you a smile.
“It’s quite alright (y/n) I think we’ve all done something silly on our Friday’s, besides, this was worth the trip as I’ve not seen a neko in quite awhile” Ardyn noted as he purposefully tapped your collars bell, making in ring a little bit.
“Yes, well I ask that you please keep this to yourself as I believe the empire would use me as an accessory to show off or some sort of pet” you stated.
“I won’t say a thing but there is something I want in return then… a trade of sorts” Ardyn said as he put the papers down, you swallowed nervously. You could say no but at the same time you need the job you have and you want to keep a low profile, you sighed as the answer was obvious.
“Very well, what do you want?” you asked, Ardyn smiled.

“Whenever you and I are alone I want you to look just like this, tail and ears showing with that adorable collar around your neck and in return, I’ll keep your little secret, do you agree my little kitten?” Ardyn asked as he stroked your right cheek with the back of his left hand. His touch sent an odd sensation through your body that was one you loved but hated because it was gentle and yet dominating.
“There’s more to this than your saying Chancellor” you replied, Ardyn chuckled.
“You’re as observant as ever… yes, I do have another agenda but I promise that your secret would not be revealed” Ardyn admitted, your (e/c) eyes met his golden ones.
“You have to tell me what it is or I won’t agree to your deal” you stated, Ardyn's left hand went to your collar and he put his index finger under it and pulled at it a little bit.
“You will be mine my little kitten and will do what I ask without question” Ardyn said in a rather quiet tone. You felt a rock in your stomach  of course he was going to use you as having a neko makes anyone look good.

“You do realize that I’m heavily debating as to whether or not this is a good idea or not, correct?” you asked, Ardyn took a step closer to you and without warning he leaned into your right ear.
“Ah, but you do realize that your choices are limited and that at any point this could backfire on you… make the smart choice kitten or I’ll be forced to do something you may not appreciate” Ardyn whispered with a hint of a threatening tone in his voice. Your ear twitched as his hot breath in your ear sent a jolt through your system, your ears were always quite sensitive and you loved it when someone blew on your ears for some odd reason.
“Ch-chancellor, please don’t do that” you breathed in shock, Ardyn chuckled again.
“Please, just call me Ardyn my little kitten and accept my proposal” Ardyn stated as he moved down to your neck, your eyes widened as you realized that he was going to mark you to make you his pet.
“Ardyn, you can’t just…” you trailed off, unable to find the right words.
“Oh but I can and if you’d like to keep your secret safe, I suggest you accept” Ardyn said, you sighed and felt tears in your eyes.
“Fine, you win” you reluctantly agreed, Ardyn smiled and pulled away from your neck, you looked at him in confusion as he let go of your collar.
“Good, I shall see you in my office in a few days and please… if it’s just us, call me Ardyn” Ardyn stated, you nodded and he left your apartment. You stood there in shock, he calls you little kitten and did all that, just to never make you his pet. Was that his intention or is he planning something else? You shook your head to clear your thoughts, it’s no use worrying about it at this point as you’ve got a friend coming over soon.
2 Months later
You entered Ardyn’s office with some papers and removed your hat to show your ears while pulling your tail out of your pants and taking off your turtleneck sweater to show your collar. Ardyn smiled as you approached him and your tail twitched nervously, you’ve been doing this for two months now and you’re finding that Ardyn is quite charming for a human. He does, however, rub you the wrong way by calling you ‘little kitten’ whenever it’s just the two of you.
“Here’s the papers from Ravus you requested Ardyn” you noted as you put the papers in your hand onto the desk.
“Thank you my little kitten, may I please get you to file these away for me?” Ardyn asked as he patted a stack of papers on his desk.
“Of course you can” you replied as you grabbed the stack, went over to the cabinet behind Ardyn and began to file the papers away, as you did so though Ardyn’s hands touched your tail and you jolted as you looked at him and he looked amused.
“Oh my, I didn’t mean to startle you little kitten, I was simply curious as to how soft your tail was” Ardyn said in a not so innocent tone.
“A neko’s ears are far softer than their tail and we typically hate our tails being touched” you explained as you moved your tail away from his hands, he lifted as eyebrow and stood up.
“Are they now? I must test this myself” Ardyn stated as he lifted his hands and gently rubbed your ears, it felt… good as he rubbed your ears and you slowly began to fall into a state where you felt, safe.
“Ardyn… that feels nice” you mumbled in a calm, content tone.
“I know my little kitten, I’m not nearly as uneducated about neko’s as you seem to think” Ardyn quietly said as he leaned forward and breathed into your right ear. You let out a small gasp as the urge to want him as your master began to rise, he didn’t look it but he was extremely gentle with you and has kept your secret.
“Master… please let me be your pet” you breathed without a second thought.
“Oh my little kitten, you’ve been my pet for quite awhile now” Ardyn mumbled as he went down to your neck and gently bit it. You did nothing as he made you his pet and as he released you and stopped touching your ears, your mind began to clear up. A sense of dread followed as you realized that your instincts had betrayed you and you were now Ardyn’s pet and he was your master.
“I… you…” you faltered in your sentence as Ardyn grabbed your collar and sat down in his office chair.
“Your master is demanding that you come sit on his lap” Ardyn demanded, you did as he asked and without missing a beat, Ardyn pulled your collar close to him and your lips met. A jolt went through your system now as you realized that he wanted this the whole time, a master and pet relationship where you would be his and only his. You’d be unable to say no now as he had marked you and you were his pet, his play toy, his… little kitten. Ardyn broke off the kiss and released your collar, the belly letting out a soft jingle as his fingers gently brushed it.
“What do you plan to do now?” you asked, Ardyn grinned at you.
“You’ll find out soon my little kitten and I’m certain you’ll enjoy it” he replied, you felt uneasy but nodded, knowing that you were now at Ardyn’s mercy as his pet. You could only hope that with him as your master that you’d be safe as that’s all you wanted at this point, safety and a nice quiet life with your master.

You Belong to Me
Jealous!Ardyn x Reader
(nsfw 18+) TW: physical/mental abuse, stalking, dubcon, bloodplay, explicit sexual content, bad language.
You work for Chancellor Izunia as his secretary. The annual gala is being held tonight, the first since your employment with Ardyn, and you receive a special invitation. Words: 4,487.
Tumblr media
A letter through the door of your apartment woke you from a deep sleep.
“Morning already?” You groaned, squinting into the sun steaming through the blinds in your bedroom. You had been working late into the night recently, preparing press and invitation lists for the annual gala. Today was the day.
You flicked through a list of mental duties to ensure smooth running of the upcoming event; you had picked up Ardyn’s suit and left it in his office the day before, giving you enough time to tie up any loose ends today. He was not a man that tolerated disappointment, though it was thankless work. You rarely spoke with the Chancellor face to face; he would merely leave you a list of duties each morning and go about his day. He was a busy man, and you were somewhat relieved by that. Someone of such stature was intimidating and you had only been under his employ for less than a year. Your shy nature would surely be a pitiful sight for a person like him.
Soft waves of hair flowed past your cheeks as you swung your legs over the egde of the bed, padding quietly into the hallway and retrieving the mail. You sifted through a handful of bills until your breath halted at the sight of a gold-gilded envelope at the bottom of the pile.
“What’s this?” You retreated to the kitchen and tossed the other mail aside, turning the envelope over in your hands. The front was pressed in intricate gold lettering with your initials. No address.
“It must have been hand delivered...” You frowned, running a thumb along the opening and pulling out the card inside. Your heart skipped as you skimmed over the details. An invitation to the gala, hand signed by Ardyn.
A hot flush prickled your cheeks. Why invite me? He barely knows me. A rush of adrenaline heated your body as you placed the letter down, both excited and nervous at the prospect of attending such an event alongside the most prestigious of guests. Part of you wanted to decline. What if I make a fool of myself in front of the guests? In front of... him?
You didn’t want to lose your job. You couldn’t afford to. Quickly you rushed to your closet and rifled through the mass of shirts and pants you wore to the office. Damn. You tutted, rubbing a frustrated hand across your forehead. What am I supposed to wear?
Your phone buzzed on the counter and you ran back into the kitchen to answer.
“Yes?”
“Hey Y/N, did you get an invitation to the gala?”
The voice of your co-worker, Rex, sounded through the receiver.
“I did, unexpectedly...”
“I was wondering,” Rex cleared his throat, “if we might go together? Just... professionally, of course.”
“Oh,” you smiled to yourself, “of course. I’d love to.”
“Great!” He chuckled, “I’ll pick you up at 7?”
“I’ll be ready. See you later.” You beamed as you clicked to hang up, holding your phone to your chest. You had bumped into Rex on several occasions whilst working for the Chancellor and privately had quite the crush on him. He had been kind to you during your first few months on the job, a pleasantry so few others would lend themselves to.
A firm knock at the door startled you. “Shit,” you looked down, dressed only in your nightgown. “Who is it?”
“Delivery,” a man called through the door.
“A delivery?” You spoke quietly, heading over and cracking the door open. “I think you may have the wrong apartment-”
“Miss Y/N?” The delivery man set a large box down outside the door.
“That’s me,” you raised an eyebrow. “You can leave it there, I’ll collect it in just a moment.” You shut the door and raced to the bedroom to grab a robe, tying it on quickly and returning for the parcel. When you opened the door, the man was gone, but the box remained.
You hauled it into the kitchen and lifted it on to the counter, peeling away the tape. Placed neatly inside was a notecard: ‘For tonight - A’
“A?” You read it aloud. Ardyn?
You dove your hands into the package and pulled out a garmet from inside; a long, fitted, crimson gown. Your fingers weaved in and out of the soft material, working over the delicate stitching. You checked the label. It was an expensive designer, you knew that mcuh. It’s exactly my size.
---
7pm rolled around too quickly, the fiery burn of a red sunset spilling into the homes of the city. Soft yellow streetlight lit the road up to the gala, and you sat on the plush leather seats of Rex’s car.
The drive there was a tad awkward, and you wished you had plied yourself with a little alcohol beforehand to imbue some kind of courage. His conversation didn’t inspire much interest; mostly he spoke of work and upcoming projects, but damn. He looked good in a suit.
“That’s a beautiful dress,” he said, eyeing you slightly as he pulled his car up to the valet.
“Oh,” you blushed, tugging at the hem. It had a side split which revealed your thighs and uncomfortable red stilettos. “Thank you.”
Stepping from the vehicle you joined Rex up the staircase to the entrance. He was such a gentleman, holding your hand as you lifted your dress so as to not step on it as you approached the doorman. You showed your invitations and the man let you pass into a grand entrance hall, filled with smartly clad men and women drinking and talking.
You marvelled at the height of the ceiling, the slick marble sheen of the walls and floor polished to perfection.
“Here,” Rex plucked two champagne glasses from a passing waiter and handed one to you. “You seem nervous.” A smile graced his lips.
You took it with a respectful nod of your head, taking a long drink. The slight burn of the alcohol sailed down your throat and into your stomach, settling the racing of your heart. “Is it that obvious?”
Rex chuckled, “You needn’t be. Come on,” he took you by the hand, interlacing your fingers. “The main hall is this way.”
You couldn’t tell if Rex was simply being kind or flirtatious; though you quite hoped the latter. “Will the Chancellor be here tonight?”
“Of course,” your companion nodded to a distant corner, where Ardyn was speaking with important members of the council.
You tried to suppress the redness in your cheeks as you swiftly polished off the glass of champagne, swiping another from a passing waiter. Through the sea of people in the room, you saw Ardyn turn, and look directly toward you. His amber gaze glinted in the light of the chandelier above.
You quickly averted your eyes. You hadn’t been in a social situation with him before, and you weren’t entirely sure how to behave. What if he approached you? Would you talk about work? Your private life? Would he think you so pathetic and socially inept that he would fire you?
You looked back to the corner where Ardyn had been, and he was gone.
“Do you speak much with the Chancellor?” The champagne was working well, and you felt your shoulders relax, Rex’s fingers still entangled in your own.
“There’s no need to be so formal.” Rex’s warm smile relaxed you. “Ardyn is a private man, I don’t think many of us know much about him.” He turned his body to face you. He was close. A little too close.
His blue eyes shone in the bright lights. You twisted your fingers tightly around the stem of the champgane glass, blinking slowly.
“Ah, you came.” A smooth voice from behind startled you.
You immediately let go of Rex’s hand, turning to face Ardyn. “Chancellor,” you bowed your head respectfully.
“Please,” he chuckled, waving a carefree hand, “Ardyn will suffice.” His eyes drifted to Rex and his demeanor changed. His shoulders stiffened as he clasped his hands behind his back. “And you are?”
“Rex, Sir. Operational Manager.”
“Hm,” Ardyn pouted, “I don’t remember hiring you.”
Rex audibly gulped. His eyes darted awkwardly, searching for a response. The tension was thick in the air, and Ardyn’s mouth twisted into a satisfied grin.
You fingers curled more tightly around the deicate stem of the glass, so much so that it cracked, piercing the skin of your fingers.
Shit, you thought. Oh, shit. You fumbled the broken glass as a stream of blood trickled down your palm. Without moving an inch, Ardyn’s eyes ficked between you and the glass. Rex opened his mouth to speak and quickly snapped it shut as Ardyn reached for your hand, taking the broken glass from you.
“Oh dear,” Ardyn said casually, the grin never leaving him. “Is this man making you uncomfortable?”
“No- I,” before you could object, two men stood beside Rex, placing a hand on each of his shoulders. “I’m so clumsy, I’m so sorry,” you panicked, pressing on the cut with your free hand to stop the blood.
Ardyn nodded toward the men and they began to usher Rex aside, his desperate eyes flicking back to you as they pushed him out of the ballroom. You watched as he was forced away, feeling Ardyn step closer. Your gaze lifted up to meet him, his wide frame dwarfing you.
He discarded the broken glass with a waiter and looked down at your blood on his fingertips; you were sure, in that moment, you saw a black flash swamp his eyes. His dark gaze bore into you, and you could only think that you had fucked the whole thing up. You were definitely getting fired.
“Come,” he said calmly. “Let’s get you cleaned up.”
--
He led you through a back door and into the long corridors of the building. You passed room after room after room, the deep mahogany carpets and wooden architcture of the place a foreign sight. The noise of the event was left far behind in the distance, and your aching feet traipsed quietly behind him. The champagne made your head swim and suddenly you regretted skipping dinner; you were just too nervous to eat.
FInally he stopped, fetching a key from his pocket and twisting it in the lock of a finely carved door. He opened it, allowing you inside first. Still you pressed your fingers over the cut, which seemed to have somewhat stopped pissing with blood. You were thankful that the alcohol dulled the pain.
The door clicked shut behind you. “Please,” Ardyn said, placing his hand on the small of your back to usher you over to a lounger to one side of the room. You walked over obediently, taking in the surroundings. It appeared to be an office of some kind; a desk and chair, bookshelves, filing cabinets. There was a coffee table in front of the lounger with two empty glasses atop it.
You sat, nervously fumbling your hands. What was he going to do? Patch you up and have you sign a resignation letter?
Ardyn took a seat next to you, brushing your thigh as he did so. “May I?” He reached a hand forward and you obeyed, placing your injured hand in his.
“I apologise,” you shook your head, “I shouldn’t have come.”
Ardyn took a handkercheif from his pocket and pressed it gently over your wound. You sucked in a sharp breath as the pain seared, inadvertenly trying to pull your hand away.
“Ssh,” he cooed, “it’s quite alright.” He continued to dab the blood away.
You became distracted looking up at his angled features. You had never been this close to the Chancellor. You had never seen those beautiful amber eyes so closely, the fine cut of his jaw and slight smirk upon his lips. The wine-coloured hair that fell in front of his face and... his scent. Deep and musky.
“There,” he leaned closer, lifting his gaze from your hands to meet your eyes. “Are you alright?”
You nodded curtly, noticing he still held your hand in his. Your heart raced; he was so close to you. You could smell the champagne on him.
“I’m pleased you accepted my invitation. I see you’re wearing the small gift I prepared for you.”
The dress. It was from him.
“You shouldn’t have, really. I—”
“Please,” he shook his head, “you look... ravishing.”
“Thank you,” you shrunk timidly, feeling his fingers graze yours.
“That man you were with,” his voice deepend suddenly and he leaned back, releasing your hands. “Who is he?”
“Oh—”
“Your boyfriend?” he cocked his head, tucking the bloodied handkerchief back into his breast pocket.
“No,” a breathless chuckle forced its way from you, “we just work together.”
“Hm,” abruptly Ardyn stood, walking over to a cabinet nearby.
You noticed he wore the suit you had picked up for him. Something a little different from his usual attire, though with the signature Ardyn flare about it. More fitted to his form, you could see he was well built.
“You won’t be seeing him again,” he fetched a bottle of champagne from the cabinet and popped the cork, returning to the lounger.
You weren’t sure what he meant by that, but thought it best not to ask questions. Tugging at the hem of your dress, you pulled it down slightly to cover your thighs.
“I must say I was rather... disappointed, when I saw you arrive with someone.” He poured the drink into the two glasses upon the table, taking a seat and handing you a glass. “I’ve had my eye on you for some time.”
Your shaky hand received the glass, bringing it to your lips for a sip. “I’m sorry, I don’t understand” You couldn’t help but let out a nervous laugh, “Have I been doing something wrong?”
“Quite the opposite,” he drank from his glass, “I’m impressed by your work, dear. I’ve had... higher plans for you. A promotion, if you will.”
“Thank you,” You attempted to conceal your surprise, taking another sip. This wasn’t how you thought this conversation would go at all.
“I want you working more closely with me, now. Only me.”
You nodded, heart racing. You tried to stop your hand from shaking, still pained by the cut. “With pleasure, Sir.”
“That’s what I like to hear,” his lecherous grin widened, “when I saw that man touching you...” his gruff voice trailed off, eyes tracing the outline of your body. “Don’t let that happen again.” His free hand rested gently on your thigh, travelling up slowly.
Your skin prickled at his touch. It felt good. You could feel him lean a little closer, your head swimming. Suddenly a man who had shown no previous interest in you at all had his hands on you. And you were enjoying it.
“Ardyn, I—”
“Ah, yes.” He cooed, closing his eyes as if to savour his name in your mouth. “Say it again.”
“Say... what?”
“My name,” he whispered, taking the champagne glass from you and placing it down on the table with his own. “Say it.”
“A-Ardyn,” you stuttered as his body pressed against yours. His hand travelled up your thigh, over your dress and to your waist. Your heart fluttered. Chancellor Ardyn Izunia had his hands on you. You suddenly wished they would travel all over your body.
His free hand reached for your head, tucking a stray hair behind your ear, then resting in the crook of your neck. “You will never say any other man’s name again.”
Something about his eyes. You were lost in them, inadvertedly nodding to his request. “Yes... Adryn.”
“Good girl,” his voice rumbled in his throat, pulling you closer. Your bodies pressed together now and he tangled his fist in your hair. Before you could take another breath, he pressed his lips against yours in a deep kiss. His tongue forced its way into your mouth and you moaned softly into him, hands clutching at the collar of his shirt. This was wrong, you knew it, but it felt so right.
A deep growl sounded from him as his rough stubble prickled your cheeks, his hand gripping your hair tightly. His musky scent filled your nose, tasting champagne on his tongue. You grew heated, your dress sticking to your back.
Breaking away suddenly, his hand remained in your hair, eyes searching yours. “Beautiful,” he whispered, “don’t look so frightened.”
“It's just—” your breath hitched, “I didn’t expect to—”
“What is it?” He feigned innocence, cocking his head. “Don’t you want this?”
You did. Your body ached. It yearned to be touched. Heat pooled in your core and screamed for him. It crashed into you like a tidal wave, soaking your underwear. You didn’t know what had come over you.
Taking your hand away from his shirt collar, you noticed you’d left a bloody fingerprint on the white cotton. He saw your gaze travel from his shirt to your hands, and he took up your fingers, bringing them to his mouth. He left a soft trail of kisses from your fingertips down your palm. A fresh trickle of blood seeped down your wrist and he brought it to his mouth, tongue dragging across it.
Your eyes rolled back as you felt his warm breath at your wrist, a mixture of nervous excitement. “Ardyn,” you whispered again, throwing your head back.
He chuckled, making his way to your open neck and leaving soft kisses upon it. His lips pressed to a sweetspot and you moaned, feeling him suck on the spot until it stung.
“You’re mine, my sweet.” he growled against your skin, “I want everyone to know it.”
Too entangled in the pleasure to worry that he had marked you, you ran a hand through his loose hair. He moved down, sucking and kissing at your exposed collarbones as a hand travelled up your waist to cup your breast. Was he drunk? Did he genuinely desire you? You didn't suppose it mattered, since you were enjoying yourself all the same.
“Say you want me,” he said between kisses, “Give yourself to me.”
“Yes,” a breathy response escaped you, “Please.”
“Beg,” he demanded, caressing your figure with his large hands.
Staggered breaths left you as you felt him press into you, forcing your back against the lounger. “Please,” you whined, parting your legs as his body lay atop you. “I’m yours.”
“That’s right,” he slowly lifted himself, forcing a hand beneath your dress and pressing against your underwear. He rubbed in small circles on your sweet spot, eliciting a soft moan from you.
“So needy already,” he spoke as he leaned down to kiss you, forcing his tongue back past your lips. You wrapped a leg around him, feeling a bulge throbbing beneath his suit pants. Breaking away he stared into your eyes, “I’ve wanted to do this to you for a long time, little dove. Oh, how the months crept by, watching your every move.” His eyes stalked your body, “Waiting for a moment for you and I to be alone. It’s been hard waiting for you like this, and now you succumb to me so easily.”
You were too lost in the moment to realise the depth of his words.
“It upset me to know your eyes crawled over other men, over that Rex.” Slowly he began to slide your underwear down your thighs, pulling them over your feet. “You wouldn’t want to upset me, would you?” His hand pulled tighter in your hair.
You squeezed your eyes shut. “Ardyn you’re hurting me—”
“Answer me,” he leaned back over you, fingers slipping between your folds.
You gasped, a mix of pleasure and pain. “Ardyn—”
He withdrew suddenly, snatching up your wrist and forcing you up to stand. “Answer me!” He released your hair and used a palm to slap across your cheek. It burned with pain, you’d have collapsed if he weren’t forcing you upright.
“I—” your free hand pressed against the pain in your cheek. “I’m sorry.”
His eyes burned. The grip on your wrist tightened. “If you so much as look at another man,” he leaned in, “do you want to know what I’ll do to you?”
You quickly shook your head. What the fuck was happening? One minute you’re embracing his caress, and the next he’s pushing you around like a ragdoll. Still, your heated core pulsed. Your thighs were wet. Whirlwind of emotions clouded your judgement; you weren't afraid, you were excited.
He began pulling you, dragging you across the room. His fist slammed into the door of an adjacent room and it flung open, revealing a bedroom. Marching across the room, he threw you down on the bed.
Your back arched as you fell, the silken sheets cooling the backs of your thighs. You watched as he discarded his suit jacket, unbuttoned his shirt and loosened his belt buckle, leaning over the bed and climbing atop you. Your fingertips grazed your cheek softly, dull pain throbbing under the skin.
“Don’t be frightened,” a salacious grin crept onto his lips, “I’m here to take care of you.”
You nodded slowly and his face softened again, ducking down to suck on your neck. His hands returned to your thighs, rubbing your wetness.
Between heavy breaths you ran your hands down his biceps, feeling the contour of his muscles beneath his shirt. The lights were dim but you could see his body, slipping his shirt over his shoulders. Your delicate fingertips traced the outlines of his scarred skin and he twitched slightly. This man of such intrigue, such mystery; you knew of his temper before today, but not like this. An obsession fuelled passion was the only way to describe it.
His lips parted as he lifted his head, watching your face as he slipped a finger inside you. A pleasured gasp left your needy lips, thighs spreading to grant him entry.
“That’s it,” he whispered, lifting your dress up. “Let me taste you.” Ardyn slid down the bed, pressing his hands now against your thighs to keep them apart. Light kisses trailed from your thighs to your heat, where he stopped momentarily. You could feel his hot breath against you, causing your back to arch.
“Please,” you begged, just like he ordered you to.
Upon your command, he dragged a wet tongue along your clit, working up and down slowly. He lingered there, savouring your pathetic whimpers, tracing small circles around it.
“Gods, Ardyn,” you gasped, tangling a hand in his hair. Overwhelmed with pleasure, your legs started to shake.
Ardyn didn’t stop. Spurred on by your sweet moans, he continued to eat you out, savouring the every subtle twitch he induced. With each cry he quickened his pace, eventually slipping two fingers easily inside you. They angled inside your core whilst his mouth sparked hot pleasure all over, adding his own hungry groans over yours.
You could feel your climax approaching, fumbling a free hand to unzip your dress. You were sweating, writhing, feeling his fingers curling inside you. You wanted him. All of him.
He wanted to feel your release, the steady rhythm of his hands and tongue threatening to send you over the edge.
And it did. As you felt his smooth tongue and deft fingers unrelenting, your climax burned inside with the heat of a star. You panted, walls tightening around his fingers, pulsing with the utmost pleasure. You cried out and arched your back, feeling the pace of his mouth and fingers dull as he rode out your ogasm with you.
Eventually he withdrew, meeting your gaze and tucking hair behind your ear. “Good girl,” he said, discarding his shirt. As he slipped it from his body, you saw his abs littered with scars. It made you sad, for a moment.
You sat up, finishing unzipping your dress and pulling it over your head. There you lay bare, body still yearning for more. You leaned up and undid the button of his pants, unzipping them and together, you slid the remainder of his clothes away.
Even in the dim light you could see his erect cock, large, throbbing, waiting for you. His hungry eyes prying every inch of your figure, he licked his lips. “No man will ever see you like this except me, do you understand?”
“Yes, Ardyn.”
His eyes rolled back at the sound of his name. The mere presence of it on your tongue excited him.
“I will take you whatever way I please, when I please,” he leaned over you, your naked bodies touching. His cock slid between your legs, resting against your entrance. You could feel its wet tip twitch.
“Yes,” you concurred obediently, just as he liked.
“Oh, that was not a request, dear." He rocked his hips slightly and you felt his large cock push into you a little. "That is a certainty.”
A soft moan escaped you lips as he did, throwing your arms above your head. He pinned them there with a forceful hand, sliding himself further inside.
A stifled groan left him, pushing his hair back with a free hand. His other hand pressed your wrists hard against the bed, causing your cut hand to sting. You winced, and he noticed.
“Am I hurting you?” A flash of sympathy washed over his face. One moment he had hit you, the next he was concerned. You were confused, but too enamoured to care.
“A little,” you said quietly, feeling his cock slip further inside. “Ah—” You spread your legs further to welcome him, feeling the full length of him slip inside.
“I’ll take care of you,” he said longingly, rocking his hips to slide his cock in and out of you. It hurt, but it felt good. Too good. This man of such mystery, a man you barely knew; inside you. And you couldn’t resist.
Your walls cleched tightly as the waves of pleasure passed by with each of his strokes, his staggered breaths filling your ears. “You’re mine,” he whispered in your ear, steadying his pace. “Do you hear me?”
“Mhm- ah-” you felt his pace quicken, his hot breath against your neck, hands still pinned above you. “I am yours,” you managed, “I want you.”
His cock drove into you, feeling it fill you up with each thrust. His hips angled to gain your sweet spot, and he groaned with pleasure hearing your sweet whimpers. Gently he released your wrists, using that hand to part your legs further. It travelled slowly to your clit, wet fingers sliding up and down.
He was a selfless lover, garnering as much pleasure in your own satisfaction as he did his own. You could tell he was experienced, too.
Your legs began to shake, oncoming climax approaching too fast.
“Say my name,” he demanded, thrusting into you, an obscure taint to his voice. With every hard stroke he was claiming you for his own, desperately wanting to hear your obedient whimpers.
You could barely speak, panting in a daze.
“Say it or I’ll put that mouth to good use,” he growled, his cock filling you with each stroke.
“Ardyn,” you finally said, desperately writhing under his body. “Ardyn, I’m going to—”
“Shh,” he whispered, stroking your clit with two fingers as he fucked you.
You put a hand over your mouth to stop you from screaming, but he wanted to hear you. He wanted to hear your cries of satisfaction as he filled you.
“Who do you belong to?”
You sweated, climax approaching. “You,” you said, I belong to you.” And as you spoke, your walls began to throb, a powerful release sailing through your body. Stars prickled the edges of the vision as you orgasmed again, harder this time. Ardyn groaned loudly, ducking down to kiss you, his tongue diving into your mouth. You felt his cock throb he sought his own release, spurred on listening to your lewd, breathy cries. He let out a growl through gritted teeth as he filled you up, milking his cock inside you until he was done, your slick skin sticking together.
There on the bed you both panted, and breaking your kiss, he looked into your eyes.
“That’s right,” he brushed the hair from your face, “you belong to me.”

Between Princes
Noctis Lucis Caelum X Reader
Word Count: 1090
Requested: @thatcucumberwhore
Request: Noctis Lucis Caelum x male reader. Reader is the heir to the Empire and the secret lover of Noctis. Noctis and reader want to start a coup so that reader can replace his father and so the world of Eos knows peace. Fluff if possible aswell. (And no prophecy and no Ardyn please, just happy stuff)
Tumblr media
Some would say being a Prince was hard work and you'd be inclined to agree with them if your father actually trusted you to make any decisions on your own, you found that when you made a decision he's swop in out of literally nowhere and change everything to better fit his image of the world he wanted but much like the world you had tired of war and everything it involved, you didn't see a point to the war that you were fighting you could easily live in peace with the leaders and people Lucis but your father didn't want to share, he wanted to own everything.
That was where the plan to overthrow him came from, you had decided that you had enough of it and you approached the prince of Lucis, Noctis Lucis Caelum about your plan and it would have been harder to convince him if you weren't already dating, your plan was to convince your Dad that you should marry into the Lucis family so that when Noctis became king you could be able to kill him and take the kingdom for yourself. This was accepted on most fronts, you marrying Noctis you'd both been dating since you were young and had even thought about making it public (since you were in a position of power in The Empire Noctis could marry someone that he wanted to and still make a political move) before this plan was brought forward and everyone wanted to trick your father into giving up everything, Noctis had spoken to his father and had come to one conclusion that there was no guarantee that he was going to hand the Empire to you before you were married, you needed to find a way to get your father to give up the Empire.
You walked knocked on the bedroom door of the Oracle smiling when she opened the door "Oracle." You greeted her with a smile and she rolled her eyes. "Don't start that (Y/N)." She said as she pulled you into the room "how are you and Noctis?" "Good, that's actually why I'm here." You answered. "Oh, are you going to go public?" She asked with a smirk on her face. "Sort of but we need you and your brother to help us before that." You explained. "Ravus?" She asked. "You two could convince my Dad to give me the Empire." You answered. "Why do you need that?" She asked. "Don't pretend that you don't hate the way that my father runs this place, we are going to change it but the only way that this is going to work is if we can get my Dad to give me the power that he has." You explained. "We should talk to my brother," Luna said and you nodded.
You knocked on Ravus' office door and opened it before he granted permission to do so "Hello Ravus." You smiled as his sister walked in behind you, staying by the door to make sure that no one else tried to interrupt. "What do you want?" He asked. "Is that any way to talk to your prince?" You asked, he only glared at you and you smirked. "So you know how you hate my father... You want to help me overthrow him?" "What are you up to?" He asked. "I'm sick of meeting my boyfriend in a dark corner, so we're going to get married." You answered. "And this is going to overthrow your father?" He asked. "No, you are. I have to take a trip to 'convince' them to take on this plan." You explained putting quotations around the word convince. "You are going to come with me and when we come back you are going to tell my father that they will refuse the marriage unless there's something more in it for them."
"So you convinced him?" Noctis asked as you both laid in his bed at the Citadel. "Not yet, Ravus is going to do that for me." You answered. "Ravus? Are you sure?" He asked. "He's a very good actor and if all else fails he'll do anything to give his sister the best life." You answered. "No offence but a loveless marriage for peace is not the best life." You muttered as you patted his cheek. "Are you sure that this will work?" Noctis asked as he turned over to look at you. "I'm sure that Ravus is going to make it work." You promised pressing a kiss to the top of his head as you pulled him into a hug.
When you got home you weren't expecting what Ravus had planned, your Dad didn't say anything when you walked into the throne room "I think it went well." You shrugged, his eyes moved to Ravus. "It went terribly." He corrected "they are now demanding that we give them something more worthwhile." "Worthwhile?" He asked. "They described him as a petulant child, if this marriage is to happen they want something more," Ravus answered. "My lord if I may." Luna stepped forward. "There is still time to get what you want, we all know that your son is not fit to lead so instead you give the impression that he leads, you perform the ceremony to hand over the Empire and he will the empire to you in his absence and then once he gets Lucis he gives it all back to you." "Mmm." Your father hummed as he looked at you. "Don't mess this up." He warned.
Everything moved quickly from there two ceremonies, two fake deaths and an invitation later and your father genuinely thought that he had won, he walked into the large throne room, you sat on the throne leant back relaxed. "Good work son." He smiled as he walked towards you but before he could get to close you gestured for the Glaive to take him. "You're under arrest for crimes against the crown," Noctis said as he appeared next to you. "You can't arrest me, I'm the Emperor!" He yelled. "No, I'm the emperor, remember." You smirked. "You betrayed me!" He glared. "That would imply that we were on the same side once." You shrugged "Bye."
"A lot is going to change now." You mumbled as you sat on Noctis' bed cross-legged. "Second thoughts?" Noctis asked as he stood in front of you. "Never." You smiled as you pressed a kiss to his lips. "We'll do this together." He promised and you nodded. "For now, we have time to make up for."
Requests and general question!

FOR THE FANFIC ASK MEME THING (I finally picked beyond 'just... all of them?'): F, I, K, M, N, Q, S, T, V, W, X, and Y. WHICH ISN'T ALL OF THEM it's just... several...
(from here)
F. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
I’m working on a Final Fantasy XV AU, because that’s basically all I write for FFXV; I really love the building blocks it gave me, but I don’t like a lot of the architecture. Anyway, conceptually it’s a fairly standard ‘what if Ardyn wasn’t a villain?’ thing, and on the off chance it ever sees the light of day, it will be called There Is a Crack in Everything.
This is a really early scene.
Regis stepped into his study, and Ardyn scarcely gave him time to close the door before wondering, with a languid sort of ease, “For how long have I been Adagium?” He sounded as if the word tasted foul.
“Longer than I can be certain of,” Regis sighed, taking his seat at his desk, across from Ardyn.
“And I’ll be able to relax for...how long?” Ardyn wondered pleasantly, leaning an elbow on the desk and propping his chin in his hand. “Before those lovely toy soldiers of yours try to haul me back to my stone box, that is.”
For a moment, Regis was quiet. For a moment, Regis thought of his father. Mors would have reacted the instant he realized who Ardyn was, and Regis wondered how many of the Glaive would have died and what sort of enemy they would have created.
He thought of his son, just a few weeks old. Already, Regis knew he did not want to teach Noctis to be that sort of king.
He did not want to be his father.
“You may stay here, should you wish it,” Regis answered at last.
Ardyn blinked, slowly. His expression didn’t change, but his words seemed carefully picked for carelessness. “And no one will wonder at another of the bloodline suddenly appearing?” he asked. “Or am I forbidden from showing off?”
“We’ll say you’re my half-brother,” Regis answered before he was even fully aware he’d come up with a solution. “It won’t surprise many.”
Ardyn’s eyes narrowed. “You’re awfully eager to dub me family.”
“You already are family,” Regis reasoned. “It seems it’s time someone finally treated you as such.”
That, at last, seemed to unmoor Ardyn. His posture went rigid for a moment as his gaze went distant. Twice, he opened his mouth to respond, before closing it without saying a word.
It took him only a moment to gather his composure, though, before he cleared his throat. “I have to say, this is the most elaborate method anyone has ever used to call me a bastard. I suppose that alone means it’s worth putting up with it.”
Regis laughed before he could help it.
I like it for a handful of reasons. For one thing, I’ve successfully weaponized it (and a few other snippets of the same WIP) to make my friend Ala emotional. For another, I didn’t really see this dynamic between Regis and Ardyn coming. It just sort of happened while I was typing, but I liked it when it showed up. It felt natural for an Ardyn who hadn’t been driven mad by turning countless people into daemons, but who was nevertheless not the same gentle healer after 2,000 years of isolation.
I. Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
I got paid for years, plural, to write really bad porn about people who could turn into animals fucking. I have no shame left. I’ve had no shame since the first time someone offered to pay me $500 for smut.
K. What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?
It is, again, related to FFXV. I wrote If the Ring Fits and Backed in Silver years ago, and ever since, I’ve tossed around the idea of writing another sequel for Ignis.
The only issue is that my idea for it would forcibly make him realize that the Prompto that had been in their world was not actually their Prompto, and had not been for over a decade. And it would be a conflict he’d have to grapple with through the entire fic, trying to decide whether to force that same replacement on someone in a different world or to just endlessly keep hopping from one world to another because he can’t return to his.
I’ve never actually written any of it, and the concepting never got beyond Ignis’s revelation about Prompto. But considering If the Ring Fits was 10,000 words long and Backed in Silver was 20,000, I can only imagine what sort of behemoth it would be.
M. Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
Like, WIPs, or things that I’ve pondered but haven’t started working on?
I’ve got a few WIPs. There’s the aforementioned non-villainous Ardyn AU. I’ve got another FFXV fic that’s been on hiatus on AO3 for legitimately over three years, and the next chapter is very nearly finished and I just...can’t seem to get there. I’ve got a Persona 5 new game+ fic in the works. That one’s fully plotted out already, and just the outline is like 15 pages long. Based on how the first chapter is going, each chapter will probably be anywhere from 10-20,000 words long. And I’ve got a melancholy immediately-post-season-two Mandalorian one shot in the works, spawned almost entirely so I could make Mando say ‘fuck.’ I know no one says fuck in Star Wars, but I don’t care. I will not say kriff and no one can make me. And I’ve got the Dragon Age uber fic that I’ve just sort of been plugging away at since Inquisition was released and none of it has ever seen the light of day, unless you count me shoving a few snippets at Siobhan.
Oh, and I’m rewriting an older Mass Effect fic.
For things that I’ve thought about but haven’t really worked on, they’re mostly more Dragon Age and FFXV. The “canon” stories for the two timelines not covered in the uber fic, and more AU nonsense spawned from ItRF and BiS.
N. Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?
Like, finish one of MY fics? No. I would bite them if they tried. Hell, I love you and I would bite you if you tried.
Just, in general? At this point I would take a monkey paw-style deal to get someone to finish Home.
(for anyone who isn’t Jim, Home is a nuTrek Jim/Spock fic that I think I was in high school when it was published. I graduated from college over five years ago.)
Q. How do you feel about collaborations?
Mixed feelings. I’ll take feedback, assuming I’ve offered the mic for it. I’ll prattle on about whatever I’ve got cooking. I’ll ask for ideas or suggestions. But when it comes to the actual writing of it, I’m a control freak. So, people are welcome to help me gather up the building blocks, but I’m gonna wind up doing the actual building myself.
S. Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?
Overly elaborate AUs.
T. Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
That thing fandom does where if they’ve decided a character has anxiety, then it does not matter how that anxiety presents itself in canon, in fanon they are a weepy, shy introvert who can hardly string a sentence together because they’ve polymorphed into a shivering puppy.
V. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
Does it count if I just say I wanna rewrite a series as a whole? There’s a FrostIron series I read ages ago before the MCU made me wanna gag, and at the time I LOVED it. And then not that long ago I went back and read it again, and it felt like I was saying goodbye to it because oh my god it was unbearable.
Loki was NEVER FUCKING WRONG ABOUT ANYTHING, unless he wasn’t in the room, in which case Tony picked the slack about not ever being wrong about anything.
W. Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?
More specific. Not this past Christmas, but the one before that, I was doing some Advent Drabbles for one of my roleplay blogs, so I was open to drabble suggestions anyone wanted to see. Like 70% of them were just one or two words and I’m just staring at my ask box like ‘thanks, I hate it’
(Kudos, though, to the random stranger who gave me a very specific, paragraph-long prompt for a Spider-Man (PS4) fic.)
X. A character you enjoy making suffer.
...All of them?
Y. A character you want to protect.
I guess Din Djarin.
I mean, he still falls into the above ‘all of them’ but when I make him suffer it’s more related to exploring something that happened in canon, rather than me directly causing it.
