"this character isn't aro they're-"
"this character can't be aro because-"
too late. I've already hit them with my aromantification beam.

Aspec men deserve much more respect and recognition in the aspec community than they receive. They often face a different form of aphobia specific to them ("men are naturally sexual they can't be ace" "all men are unromantic that's not unique") this rhetoric is spouted by many, even members of our own community and I hope for a day where that is no longer the case. As an ace and demiro woman (demigirl but that's beside the point) I want to encourage folks to take the time to give the aspec men in their lives support and to the aspec men reading, you are who you say you are no matter what people say and you deserve the world. I'm sorry for the ways in which toxic masculinity has harmed you. You are a valued member of the aspec community and the queer community as a whole. No ace or aro person is broken and neither are you. I'm sorry if anyone has ever told you otherwise.

Hi hello good evening, friendly reminder that identifying as asexual and/or aromantic does not mean the individual: has no sex drive; is never interested in romance; never desires romantic relationships; has never had and/or does not ever want to have sex; does not have fantasies nor masturbate; and so on..... but perhaps the most important reminder is: just because someone's relationship to sex and romance differs from societal expectations does not mean it is something to fix
thank you, carry on (:

one of my things with love is that i think it's probably like colors. yeah we have a thing that we all sort of agree is red. but we have no way to know if other people see red the same way as us. your red could be totally different from mine and we would never know because it has functionally the same relation to all of us and so we all just call it red. i have no way of knowing if anyone else on earth feels love the exact same way in which i do and in fact i think most people probably don't...

I'm never gonna understand ppl who think u can't be happy without romantic love. Like do u not get overwhelmingly happy about giving a gift to ur friend that they like? Have u never laughed until your face hurts and u can't breathe bcus u and the bestie can't stop making jokes? Have u never sent a friend a meme or tagged them in a post about a thing they like bcus u saw it and thought of them? Platonic love is just so <3333

talking to allos is insane because they'll say something that is completely different from your experience and be like "yeah that's normal though"

Hot take:
If a character doesn’t have a canon Sexuality and/or Gender Identity there isn’t any harm in having your own headcannons.
Specially Changing a characters Canonical Sexuality/Gender Identity so it fits better with your ships is disgusting behavior.
I’m looking all you Radio/Whatever shippers in the eyes when I say this.
Alastor is Aroace.
If he were in a relationship with someone, it would be a QueerPlatonic one. He wouldn’t be having kids with anyone. He wouldn’t be kissing anyone. He is Asexual and Aromantic.
And it’s getting increasingly frustrating as an Aroace person with even Less representation in Media than other lgbtq+ sexualities/identities, to see what little representation we do have get changed and disregarded.
It isn’t even about Alastor at this point, there’s so many Ace and Aro coded characters, or canon Ace characters, who get ignored, overlooked, or have their sexualities changed to something else and I’m so tired of it.
Asexual and Aromantic people aren’t any less valid than any other Sexuality. We deserve to have representation in the media, and we deserve to have that representation respected by other members of the lgbtq+ community.

The existence of "aromantic straight men" implies that there are straight men who genuinely love women, which is a laughable absurdity
