i massively headcanon alex as autistic, could you maybe write something with her and spencer both having autism?

“You know, by the way,” Blake says casually, “no offense earlier when I suggested you had Asperger's.”

“None taken,” Spencer replies. “When did you do that?”

Blake smiles. “Ah... And that's what I love about you. You're not overly sensitive like some people. I mean, think about how much time we'd save if everyone just got straight to the point.”

“Yeah. Cut out all the handshakes and how-do-you-dos.”

“Yeah.”

Spencer pauses before speaking again.

“Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure,” Blake says.

“Did you recognize my Asperger’s because you see something of yourself in me?”

Blake freezes. “Excuse me?”

“It’s just a hypothesis,” Spencer says easily. “No one on the team has ever mentioned it before, except for you this morning. I wondered if you noticed because you know more about autism than the rest of the team. Maybe even because you have it yourself. You don’t have to tell me if you do, though,” he adds quickly. “You’re entitled to your privacy.”

“No, don’t worry about it,” Blake says. “I was the one who brought it up in the first place, anyway.” She looks at Spencer. “I do have Asperger’s. You too?”

“Me, too. I knew we had a lot in common.”

“I think we’re done canvassing this room,” Blake points out. “Want to go grab a coffee and chat a little?”

Fifteen minutes later they’re seated in a coffee shop, each with a beverage in front of them.

“Now that we’re here, I don’t know what to say,” Blake laughs.

“Does anyone on the team know you’re autistic?” Spencer asks.

“Not exactly. Strauss knows, but I know she won’t tell anyone.”

“You guys have history, right?”

Blake nods, then changes the subject.

“Does the team know about you?”

“No,” Spencer shakes his head. “I haven’t told any of them, at least.”

“I’m sorry for bringing it up on the jet,” Blake says, cringing. “I didn’t think before I spoke.”

“I don’t mind if they know,” Spencer clarifies. “I just haven’t seen a reason to mention it. I don’t really need accommodations. They already think I’m weird, anyway, so…” He shrugs, and then thinks for a moment. “It makes sense, though.”

“What makes sense?”

“I feel safe with you.” Spencer smiles. “Now I know why.”

“May I hug you?”

Spencer nods, and Blake leans over and wraps her arms around him.

“I’m glad,” she whispers in his ear. “I feel safe with you, too.”

I am only three episodes into season eight and I have already adopted the autistic Alex Blake headcanon.

Let me explain:

Firstly, her first moment in the show is her explaining the etymology of the term 'nice'. it is established that she is a linguistics professor, but nobody who is neurotypical begins with that.

her general demeanour is quite monotonous. I don't think I have seen any of the team's replacements have a very limited arsenal of facial expressions- even Prentiss, who replaced Greenaway, has a wider range of expressions than Alex Blake.

in s08e03, when Reid is explaining the different criteria between Asperger's (*gag*) and "classical autism" Blake leans back and asks him, "Well, how about you?" to me, this implies that she can tell that Reid is autistic (which at this point isn't even subtext it just plain ole text!) or that she has been assessed before (that is just my theory.)

same episode, after she apologises to reid for insulting him, Blake tells him how she prefers people being straightforward instead of sensitive and skirting around the situation, to which Reid agrees by saying how he is the same way.

this is just my interpretation and I will expand upon it the more I watch this season. so far, I really like dr Blake!

If they thought midterms were bad, finals were even worse.

Everyone was subsisting on junk food and caffeine. No one was sleeping. Penelope had given up on wearing eye makeup for the week because she kept crying on her study guides. Hotch had an ear infection again, which made him cranky and irritable. If they weren’t in class, they were studying in the library, at the Honeybean, in the dining hall. It was madness.

It was bad enough for the teenagers, but it was even worse for Spencer.

Sometimes they forgot he was nine- well, ten, now, barely ten. He was so smart, smart enough to tutor kids who were six, seven, eight years older than him. But completing homework easily and getting high grades on normal tests and quizzes was completely different from going through finals. He was overwhelmed, to put it mildly.

Alex was trying to work at the circulation desk, but she could hear Spencer’s crying from across the vast room, and she couldn’t concentrate. He’s okay, she kept telling herself as she recommended books to frazzled students and scanned their checkouts. Just an hour left, and then we can take him to dinner and put him to bed.

Emily leaned over the desk. “Hey, I’m so sorry, but we need you over there,” she said in a low voice.

Alex brushed her hair out of her eyes with the back of her hand. “Did Hotch send you?” she asked.

“No, but he needs backup, I can tell,” she said. “He can’t get the baby to calm down, he’s starting to freak out, and I’m starting to worry that the kid is going to cry till he pukes again.”

She set her scanner down. “Give me just a second,” she told the bleary eyed sophomore holding a stack of books on Manifest Destiny, and followed Emily back to their usual corner.

Instantly she could tell why Emily called for her. Aaron was sitting in an armchair, his shoulders hunched over as he tried to hold onto Spencer. “I know, I know,” he was saying desperately as Spencer sobbed and tried to go limp in his grip. “I know you’re tired, I know you’re stressed, I just need you to take a deep breath.”

“I’m not tired!” Spencer shrieked. “Let go of me, let go!”

Alex touched Aaron’s back lightly; he jumped in surprise and immediately sagged in relief when he saw her. “Please, help me,” he said in a panicked, strangled voice. “I don’t know what to do.”

He scooted over in the armchair and she sat down next to him. “Spencer,” she said in a soft voice. “Baby, I need you to take a deep breath.”

He was a pitiful sight, his hazel eyes bloodshot and ringed in blue bruises as tears rolled down his cheeks. “I’m not tired!” he sobbed.

“I know, I know, but do you want to sit with me?” Alex asked softly. He nodded, raising his arms to be held, and she lifted him easily onto her lap; Aaron pulled his skinny little legs over his knees as Alex leaned his head on his shoulder. She held him tight and rocked him gently. She’d learned that he did better when he was squeezed tight, like his soul was getting crushed back into his body.

After a while he started to go limp, his sobs dying down. “I’m not tired,” he whimpered as he clung to the front of her shirt. “I h-have to s-study.”

Alex kissed the top of his head. “I know,” she said. “I do too, but I have to keep working.”

His grip tightened. “Don’t leave me!” he wailed.

“I won’t, I won’t,” she said. “You can come with me, okay? Do you want to do that?” He nodded into her neck. “Okay, darling, let’s do that.”

She looked up and caught James’s eye. “I’m on it,” he mouthed, and he started gathering up the blankets and pillows they had brought from their dorms.

“Thank you,” Aaron said. “Thanks, I- I didn’t know what to do…”

Alex patted his cheek lightly. “You should take a break too,” she said. “You’re still getting over being sick, you need a rest. I’ll take care of him now.”

“Want me to carry him?” James asked. He handed Emily the blankets and picked Spencer up easily. “Come on, buddy.”

“I wanna stay with Alex.”

“You will, baby, you’ll be with Alex.”

Emily immediately busied herself with setting up the pillows and blankets under the desk to make a little nest. “Here, squirt, you think you’ll be comfy there?” she said. Spencer nodded, rubbing his eye with his fist. “Here, climb on in.”

James set him down and Spencer crawled into the little fort, making himself comfortable. He handed him his favorite blanket. “Lie down, kiddo, I’ll tuck you in,” he said.

“I forgot my book,” Spencer said plaintively as James drew the blanket up to his chin.

“We’ll get your book later, just take it easy for right now,” Alex said. “And I’m going to be right here, okay?”

He nodded. She leaned in to kiss his forehead, and then the three teenagers stood up and looked at each other in exhausted frustration. “How many days until finals are over?” Emily said. “Too many?”

“Three,” Alex sighed.

James slid an arm around her shoulders. “And then you and I will take him home to my parents’ house, and then we’ll have my parents to help put him back together,” he said. He kissed her temple. “And in the meantime, you’re doing a great job. He’s going to be okay.”

“I hope so,” Alex sighed.

“Um…can I check out my books now?” the sophomore asked meekly.

Alex went back to work, a little overwhelmed now that the line was ten people deep. She still didn’t really feel like she was doing a good job, but as she stood at the desk she felt Spencer reached out and rest his hand on her ankle. She tried to stay as still as possible so she wouldn’t break the tether.

When library hours were finally done she crouched down on the floor beside him. He was asleep at last, his face flushed and his lips parted as he snored a little. Alex smoothed his tangled hair away from his face and smiled at him. He would be okay. She would make sure of it.

What is Queerminal Minds?

Queerminal Minds started out in July 2015. The origin post was in reply to getting an Anon that said “Stop making Criminal Minds Gay!” In the years since, it has grown to become a pretty popular tag in the CM fandom. Complete with everything from head canons, to fanart, fanfic and more. It is simply a celebration of all things Queer and Criminal Minds!

Emily Prentiss

Sexuality: Demisexual, lesbian!!!

Gender: Who knows?! || Pronouns: She/Her

I have always seen Emily as demisexual, she really has to get to know someone before sleeping with them.

Emily is the bottomest bottom. Just complete and utter baby. Not a single dominant inkling in her when it comes to sex

Not a queer HC, but I'll add it here: Emily is so very autistic. Like most of the BAU is neurodivergent and Emily is lead autistic in charge.

Jennifer Jareau

Gender: Demigirl || Pronouns: She/They

Jordan is the type of person who walks into the queer club and everyone stops to stare. They command attention anywhere they go, even when she's not even trying. Just alluring AF and it's not her fault!!!

Jordan for sure dated Emily when she was filling in for JJ in S4. Jordan caught feelings really bad for Emily, but Emily got scared about someone getting that close to getting past her defences so she sort of ghosted Jordan. (Emily still regrets this)

Alex Blake

Sexuality: Bisexual/Queer

Gender: (I hate that all I want to say here is: Yes, Daddy) || Pronouns: She/Her

Alex is super polyamorous and fine with casual sex with friends. She's confident AF and happy to Dom any of the women of the BAU

Alex and Emily slept together before Emily left in '200'.

Alex also had a thing with Strauss before Strauss tried to ruin her career.

Elle Greenaway

Sexuality: Pansexual, Aromantic

Gender: Agender || Pronouns: She/They

Oh god, Elle is the Toppest Top. Like, she'd give Tara a run for their money.

Elle and JJ used to sleep together as friends with benefits before Elle left

At some point, who knows when or how, Elle and Emily slept together and it was some of the best sex either of them have ever had.

Savannah is a proud trans woman and she really opened Derek's eyes up to the vastness of the trans spectrum. Which led to Derek figuring out he's a demi-girl.

Luke Alvez

Gender: Trans Man || Pronouns: He/Him

The gayest little himbo of them all. He's such a hunk and he for sure has slept with Reid and Derek on separate occasions. He's a power Bottom.

He and Tara are bff's and they are always wing-maning each other. Also, Luke and Emily are close friends too and she will [protect him at all costs].

Matt Simmons

Sexuality: Bisexual

Gender: Cis || Pronouns: He/Him

Matt and Kristy are kinky AF. He's out of town A LOT, and the fact Kristy has been pregnant five times is really indicative of how much sex they have.

He is the king of eating out. This man's life motto is 'As long as I have a face, you have a place to sit'. He's the Service Bottom dreams are made of.

Spencer Reid

Gender: Genderfluid || Pronouns: He/She

Reid absolutely loves wearing skirts and loves when the other Transvengers do his make up

Reid's first sexual partner was Elle because when she found out he'd never had sex, she happily offered to rock his world (and she sure fucking did!)

Derek Morgan

Sexuality: Not as Straight as Originally Thought. (Panromantic)

Gender: Demi Girl || Pronouns: He/Him (or She/Her to Savannah)

Derek was always the biggest Ally of his queer pals, then he slowly started realising maybe men really are his type as well. Then furthermore, maybe all people are his type?!

Derek has slept with both Spencer and Luke, and would happily do it again if given the chance.

David Rossi

Sexuality: Straight, but could probably be convinced to try other options

Gender: Genderfluid || Pronouns: He/They

Rossi doesn't give a fuck about gender. He's too old to not live life to the fullest, which mostly means wearing floor length gowns and looking fabulous any chance she gets

Aaron Hotchner

Sexuality: Bisexual

Gender: Trans || Pronouns: He/Him

Hotch is trans AF. Just in all forms of the term. Hotch loves showing off his top surgery scars, while also equally loving getting dressed up in cute dresses and going out with Emily and JJ.

Hotch and Garcia are trans BFFs

A) I love that she's clearly maternal. She's resilient, she's driven, she's highly intelligent. (AKA: all things I identify with...)

how would you rank the main characters of the bau (any season/s), and what's your reasoning for these rankings?

Oh, this is fun. Honestly, I don't have many particularly strong feelings or preferences for the characters. I like them all for different reasons, and it's their relationships that make them stand out to me.

That being said, I'll give it a shot.

Spencer Reid. I relate to him the most.

Derek Morgan. He is the most interesting to me.

Tara Lewis. We didn't get nearly enough of her.

Emily Prentiss. She has the most development.

Luke Alvez. Look at him. He's a sweetheart.

Alex Blake. Huge impact for very little time.

Penelope Garcia. I want more of her support groups.

Jason Gideon. His story was compelling, but too short.

Aaron Hotchner. But specifically Autistic and Dad Hotch.

Jennifer Jareau. I don't hate her, just not a favorite.

David Rossi. He's only good with other members.

Elle Greenaway. No.

Everyone else, it just sort of depends. Stephen deserved better. I want to be adopted by Matt. Overall, I don't dislike anyone, really. Elle would be my least favorite. I don't hate Seaver nearly as much as most people. Kate was alright. Thanks for asking, this was fun to consider 🥰 (just don't take any of it to heart, seriously, lol).
