Goals should be challenging yet attainable, allowing players to stretch their abilities and constantly strive for improvement. Additionally, breaking larger goals into smaller, manageable milestones enables players to track progress and stay motivated in the face of adversity.
The Power of Positive Self-Talk

Self-talk can help players overcome self-doubt, stay focused under pressure, and bounce back from setbacks. By replacing negative thoughts with empowering ones, basketball players maintain a mental state that fosters optimal performance and unwavering motivation.
Building Resilience through Adversity
Adversity is an inevitable part of any athlete's journey, and basketball training is no exception. Building resilience is crucial to overcoming setbacks and maintaining motivation. Players learn to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and develop a mindset that reframes failures as stepping stones toward success.
They bounce back from defeats, learn from mistakes, and maintain a positive outlook even in the face of adversity. By developing resilience, basketball players strengthen their mental fortitude and become more determined to achieve their goals.
Utilizing Pre-Game Routines
Pre-game routines play a significant role in helping basketball players enter a focused and motivated state before stepping onto the court. These routines are personalized rituals that allow athletes to mentally prepare for the game. They might include activities such as listening to music, engaging in stretching exercises, reviewing game plans, or engaging in calming rituals.
By following consistent pre-game routines, players create a sense of familiarity and control, helping them transition from everyday life to the intensity of the game. These routines contribute to mental readiness, focus, and a heightened state of motivation.
Seeking Support and Mentoring
Even the most accomplished professional basketball players understand the importance of seeking support and guidance. They surround themselves with a strong support system, including coaches, teammates, and mentors who provide valuable feedback, motivation, and advice. This support network helps players stay accountable, navigate challenges, and maintain perspective.
Mentors, often former players or coaches, share their wisdom and experiences, offering guidance on the mental aspects of the game. By leaning on their support system and basketball coaches, basketball players find solace, inspiration, and the motivation to keep pushing their limits.
Embracing Rest and Recovery
Rest and recovery are essential components of maintaining mental focus and motivation for basketball players. Adequate sleep, nutrition, and downtime allow the mind and body to rejuvenate, promoting optimal performance.
Rest days and periods of relaxation help prevent burnout and mental fatigue, enabling athletes to approach each game with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Sony will release a new animated short titled “The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story” on Sony Pictures Animation’s YouTube channel at 6 a.m. PT on March 27.
From Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks, the short is set in the world of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and follows Miles Morales/Spider-Man as he struggles to balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend, student and Spider-Man. In navigating those pressures, Miles experiences a panic attack that forces him to confront the manifestations of his anxiety and learn that reaching out for help can be just as brave an act as protecting his city from evil.
The digital release comes in partnership with the Kevin Love Fund, and will be incorporated as part of the fund’s new mental health-focused lesson plan, “The Hero Within.” The lesson plan invites students to tell their own story through the lens of mental health awareness via an interactive curriculum including a creative storyboard activity.
“Miles represents so many of us doing the best we can in our day-to-day lives,” said Jarelle Dampier, director of “The Spider Within.” “We don’t often realize all that we’ve been through until our own body forces us to become aware of its experience. My intention is that ‘The Spider Within’ can motivate deeper conversations amongst friends & family about their own mental health journeys — and I hope it feels like a love letter to those who adore Miles Morales.”
KLF founder, professional basketball player and mental health advocate Kevin Love said, “My hope for the short film would be for everyone, especially young people, to understand that your feelings are valid and that you are not alone in this.”
Love continued, “You see it with Spider-Man in the short film, where Miles has a trusted confidante. He is able to take a walk with his dad and express what he’s going through. We can all learn from that – how important it is to reach out to someone, express your true emotions, speak your truth and not hold everything inside.”
“The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story” debuted at Annecy in 2023 and was developed and produced in the inaugural year of Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks’ Leading and Empowering New Storytellers (LENS) program, a nine-month leadership training program that provides candidates from underrepresented groups with an opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience in animation. The final deliverable of the program is an all-original short film, set in the existing world of a feature produced by Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks.
“The Spider Within: “A Spider-Verse Story” is written by Khaila Amazan, and produced by LENS program creators Michelle Raimo-Kouyate and David Schulenburg. Rounding out the LENS team are Clara Chan who served as vfx supervisor and Joe Darko who served as animation supervisor.

If you take request, what would the Baki men do with a significant other that did a different sport? Like ice skating, softball, volleyball, or maybe gymnastics, something like that. (I also really love your work so far❤️)
Okay, let's go
Baki:
- he's happy for you. I think he would like someone who is as passionate about his business as he is.
- if you study at home (if possible ) One minute he's training, the next he's training with you. He makes the most of it. He learns from you, despite the discipline you practice.
- regarding training outside the home... He won't be present at all (sometimes for good reasons, sometimes he's just too lazy to go), but he will periodically bring you a snack.
- HOWEVER, HE IS PRESENT AT ALL YOUR PERFORMANCES (unless of course he has a fight at this time)
- despite the fact that Baki is quite gentle in nature, however, he will make sure that you are more disciplined. Training at a set time, diet, early risers.
- in case of failure at the competition, he will find the strength to motivate you to give you the strength to continue training (he knows how important it is)
Hanayama:
- neutral... Well , like OK , he just took this information into account and that 's it
- but he will buy you gifts related to your hobby. If you play basketball, he'll buy you new sneakers or something... In general, he will express his interest financially
- he will watch programs about your sports, performances at tournaments. In general, this boy will try to ensure that you have something to chat about with him
- from the previous paragraph, it can be concluded that Hana immerses himself in your activities when he has time. He can even practice with you if you want.
- He really supports you, it's just that his support is on another level, it's a little deeper than words
- he may attend training several times, but don't get him wrong, as I said before, he is a busy person, but he really tries to be present
- it's the same story with competitions, he's present at some, but just look at him. He doesn't show himself clearly, but he literally exudes pride when you win.
- he is not the best at comforting you in case of loss, but he definitely feels your emotions and will try to give you a motivational speech, but he will be better able to calm you down with touches
Katsumi:
- Oh, he's interested
- he would like your dynamics, like he
- tell him about what you do. Tell him everything from the important things to the little things. (unlike Hanayama, who tries to find out everything himself, Katsumi prefers to find out everything from your mouth)
- and he's super supportive of you. Right at 100%
- he will study with you at home. He will also maintain discipline, as will Baki. (But Katsumi is more forgiving)
- he rarely attends training sessions (he is also a busy person), but he comes to all matches.
- he shouts at you from the stands, he will make a float... It's all about him. Of course it's great, but sometimes... Firstly, it becomes absurd, and secondly, it is sometimes a distraction.
- if you lose, he will do everything so that you do not abandon yourself and continue to train.
- a lot of gifts from knitted with your sport
Jack:
- he also easily accepted the information
- he thinks it's great that you have a hobby... And that's all, he doesn't attach much importance to it, just because everyone should have a hobby, if that's how you prefer to spend your time, then fine. And there is a benefit and you are passionate about something
-but if you ask him, he'll practice with you. At first, he treats it neutrally, but later he will get used to it. (it will probably become a ritual, you will get up at the same time, then warm up, jog, workout for about an hour and work together
- he also monitors your discipline. Jack should know how important she is.
- he also doesn't come to your training sessions. However, it happens at almost all your competitions.
- he will probably give a little motivational speech before the competition
- look at him after you win. He's proud, he's really proud of you. He won't shout about it, but a look at him will be enough to understand how he feels.
- but if you lose... Then he will give you another motivational speech, and you will have no other option but to continue studying
Retsu:
- he is also interested,
- will he train with you? Naturally. He believes that this way of spending time is more useful.
- HE WILL GIVE YOU A MASSAGE AFTER TRAINING. Trust me, you won't regret it, he was extremely good at it, and it instantly relieves tension from the muscles.
"HE'LL ALSO COOK YOU SOMETHING DELICIOUS AFTER YOUR WORKOUT." Something nutritious and delicious, the very thing after a workout, he knows exactly what you need
- there are also a lot of gifts related to your sport
- he rarely goes to training outside the house, but he is present at ALL competitions.
- and he's super supportive of you, but he's not to the point of absurdity. Perhaps he will shout out something supportive, but no more.
- and he's ABSOLUTELY proud of you.
- (in honor of winning the competition, he will cook you a festive dinner)
Shibukawa:
- I'm glad for you. Well, it's really great that you're passionate about something.
- he will train with you at home, of course. For him, this is another way to have fun while away the time
- the same will come up with a snack for you after training (probably tea and a sandwich)
- however, unlike others, he demands to repay him (not with money), like he trains with you, repay him the same, he will gladly teach you aiki
- discipline? Well, maybe he's not really watching it, but he'll make sure to put you to sleep or wake you up.
- it rarely happens outside the house during training, you can say it doesn't happen at all.
- but he comes to all competitions (he's super supportive)
- it is also possible to give you a massage after training.

Levi Jackson (August 22, 1926 – December 7, 2000) was the first African-American football captain at Yale University and the first African-American executive at Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the Yale Class of 1950, and captained the 1949 football team, the election taken soon after the 1948 season.
Jackson's election to the captaincy was unprecedented, given he was the first African-American to play football for Yale, but almost unremarkable in the Yale community. "The voting took only ten minutes. There was no one else. It had to be Levi," a Yale player recounted.
Jackson was elected the first black captain of any Yale sports team by his teammates in November 1948 in a landslide 49–1 election. The only vote against Jackson was his own. Jackson had lettered also for the varsity basketball team.
Jackson's squads were 3–1 versus Harvard in “The Game.” During his Yale career, Jackson broke or tied 13 Yale records.
After graduating from Yale, Jackson went to work for the Ford Motor Co. in 1950. By 1962 he was an executive, the first African-American to reach that level at Ford; he was a Vice President when he retired in 1983.
Jackson was also instrumental in creating Ford’s Minority Dealership Training Program.
Jackson was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

@ cupidshootstokill! pretty boy point guard huang guanheng is far from a hopeless romantic. or so he thinks until he's struck by cupid's arrow (literally and metaphorically) for the ace archer of NCIT : you. the only problem is that his newfound cupid seems to be shooting to kill.
Tumblr media
ln yn. ⤷ ace of the archery program after a series of record-breaking sets ⤷ recently came back from an olympic training camp and is set on the path to inevitably join the national team alongside kun and doyoung ⤷ loves giving out nicknames though the rest of the team (excluding kun and emphasizing doyoung) seem to find them distasteful ⤷ wants mark lee to reign in huang guanheng, it seems that he's always getting in her way during practice (and every other aspect of her life)--how annoying
Tumblr media
qian kun. ⤷ captain of the archery team ⤷ known throughout the archery community as a child prodigy, kun has taken part in the sport since he was first able to hold a bow ⤷ easily aggravated by his teammates who have lost track of how many bow strings he has snapped from his bouts of irritation ⤷ wants ex-roommate, soccer forward kim jungwoo to stop pestering him about joining the team
Tumblr media
kim doyoung. ⤷ vice-captain of the archery team ⤷ known as the prince of archery for his handsome features and his skill in barebow events--despite yn's popularity at the moment, doyoung is often the most popular of the national team trio ⤷ so popular, in fact, that he has a fanclub at the university ⤷ secretly likes yn's nicknames but gives her a hard time about them anyway ⤷ wants to somehow get the fanclub banned from attending his events, it's a bit hard to focus when you have an entire group of people screaming your name
Tumblr media
dong sicheng. ⤷ was searching high and low for the dance team when he was spotted by kun and dragged kicking and screaming to the archery team ⤷ has absolutely zero aspirations to excel in the sport despite how talented he is ⤷ the victim of a majority of teasing (targeted by xiaojun) ⤷ tries his best to appear cold, stoic, and uncaring but is truly anything but ⤷ wants everyone (XIAOJUN) to get off his case
Tumblr media
xiao dejun. ⤷ joined at the same time as sicheng and often competes with him in partner events (though this usually ends only in bickering about who should shoot first) ⤷ finds that he's funniest when he's subjecting sicheng to incessant teasing so has chosen to undertake this effort constantly ⤷ is very popular throughout the university, he doesn't get it-- he finds himself to be pretty dull at the end all be all but he supposes his good looks make up for it ⤷ wants nakamoto yuta to stop cornering him at practice, how can he shoot a bow if his upperclassman is hanging all over him?
Tumblr media
huang renjun. ⤷ #1 basketball team hater ⤷ enjoys observing the antics of his teammates rather than participating, but he'll often through in an unexpected comment if he finds it amusing ⤷ like kun, renjun grew up competing, archery seems to come to him as easy as breathing--often excelling in events without even making a great effort to do so ⤷ wants to see the basketball ream ousted from the gym for good. though he supposes he would then be subjected to their whining, perhaps a worse fate than the one he already grapples with
Tumblr media
maeda riku. ⤷ self proclaimed cutest and most handsome member of the team ⤷ followed yushi to tryouts to pester him but ended up making the team by what he assumes to be a mixture of natural talent and pure, sheer luck ⤷ a liar at heart, a man who is as good at archery as he is cheating ⤷ xiaojun thinks he's the funniest member, a mantle which riku assumes with a puffed up pride and a strong favoritism towards the upperclassman ⤷ wants yushi to stop locking him out of their shared dorm whenever he gets fed up with his teasing, riku can only crash at sion's so many times in a week!
Tumblr media
tokuno yushi. ⤷ in a constant state of agony that riku is actually good at archery despite never picking up a bow before following yushi to tryouts ⤷ has followed the national team trio since he was a kid, specifically yn who has been on televised events for the majority of her life ⤷ looks up to his upperclassmen and wants to follow in their footsteps and join the national team, he only hopes that riku never gets good enough to follow him (an eventual inevitability) ⤷ wants, hopes, prays that riku never finds out that he's a really big fan of yn and that, ultimately, she's the reason he chose to go to ncit-- if the older boy does find out, yushi is one hundred percent positive that he will never let it go (he won't)
Tumblr media
@ home @ ncit basketball
taglist. @yangasm @trourevaille @ikozen @90s-belladonna thank for you for supporting cupid shoots to kill! ♡

I've been obsessed lately with an AU where Spider takes a dramatic turn. He already knows the way of the forest na'vi right? He can climb anything, he can use an arrow and bow, he speaks the language fluently since forever, he knows the plants, the animals, the rituals and religion.
In the end of avatar 2 he decides to go with Quaritch and mirrors Jake's arc in the first movie with a grain of irony: he will learn the human ways (or more specifically, the military way). He'll learn to fight with martial arts, he'll learn how to use guns, how to operate the fireflies, he'll watch movies and tv shows from earth, he'll play human games such as soccer and basketball.
There's a catch though. In the end he's neither na'vi or human (in the earthly sense at least). And he takes pride in that. He makes part of his identity to be the forever inbetweener. As he grows old he tattoos the paint marks he's so used to have. He knows Pandoran ecosystem and he knows military strategy. He's proficient in both na'vi and human languages, rituals, cultures and technology. He's feared by both.
Spider becomes the anti Jake. They are two sides of the same coin. Inbetweeners.
this would actually be really cool.
jake gave up so much of his human life, so to see spider embrace both, would honestly be pretty sick.
the recoms fear him because he will always be a step ahead of him, no matter how much training they have, how many education programs they go through, they won't be better then the kid born on pandora and raised na'vi his whole life.
the humans fear him equally, cause he's learned all about them to, trains just like them, but he'll always have the physical advantage, his body is more honed then most cause of his lifestyle.

Shannon's short spring break trip back home is perfect until it isn't... Her life goes up in flames- the only question is, will she run toward it or run away?
Tumblr media
Breakfast at O’Connell’s was everything Shannon had always loved about it. Firefighters getting off shift rotated through as heaping plates of the best breakfast in New York slid in front of them. Shannon was lucky enough to have Lucky pressed up against her leg and her dad across the table from her, sipping on coffee and laughing as she regaled him with tales from training and school.
She’d do anything to make him smile. Anything to prove to him that she was training and doing okay all those states away most of the year. He would do the same—stories from the firehouse, stories from calls– any and all of them really. Shannon liked hearing about even the boring ones. Even old stories about Jo and Benny that she’d heard only a thousand times.
Oldman O’Connell kept their mugs full, though he always protested that Shannon was too young for coffee and should be having hot chocolate instead. He also brought out an extra plate of the good bacon and two house donuts alongside Shannon’s order of the house special—Irish Benedict.
The rest of the day went more of the same. On their way back to the house, Shannon’s smile almost split her face when her dad’s truck rolled to a stop by their fishing spot in the Hudson. She hadn’t even noticed their poles or the tackle box in the back of the truck. Lucky was wagging his tail so hard it was pretty clear he was just as excited as Shannon was.
It was the best spot. There was a good view of the city from here, it was quiet, never very crowded. The only problem was that they never really caught much. Not that they ever ate them, it was more of a catch-and-release program than anything else. They kept the ones when they went upstate, but the catching was never really what mattered to Shannon.
She just liked spending time with her dad. Sometimes, they would talk. Sometimes, they wouldn’t. Sometimes, they would talk about the hard stuff. Sometimes, they just listened to the water and whatever it was around them. Sometimes, Aunt Jo would come and play fetch with Lucky and talk trash about them not being any good at fishing.
Today, it was some of all of it. There was the talking about Shannon still wanting to join FD when she graduated college, and Lucky nosing his ball into her foot for her to toss, her dad watching her carefully, not wanting to pry but feeling like there was something Shannon wasn’t telling him.  There weren’t any bites, just enjoying the repetitiveness of tossing a long cast of the line over her shoulder, and slowly reeling it back in. It was always such a mindless rhythm.
It was everything Shannon hoped her short stop in New York might be, especially when Jo met up with them as they were pulling back into the driveway. They were planning on doing a little workout. The whole day had gone great. The workout back at Paddy’s Field behind the playground was everything that had gotten her ready to play soccer at such a high level. After their run (a little slower this time to let Lucky keep up with them with his aging hips and her Dad’s trick knee), they moved to the agility ladder and some weighted movements using the sandbags they usually kept behind the bushes since no one was ever back here. Shannon brought her soccer ball, too.
Having it at her feet while Jo and Lucky tried to play defense. Her dad was attempting to play goalie against the rusted fence that had served as their goal for many years. Soccer was never his favorite, but when Shannon told him that she was choosing it over basketball, he got on board so fast. As long as his little girl loved it, he would love it, too.
The walk back to the house was just as nostalgic as the rest of the day had been. Debating what place to order takeout from. Lucky trotted happily next to her, his tongue hanging out of his mouth as she held her soccer ball under her arm against her hip. The way he looked up at her was maybe one of Shannon’s favorite things in the world. Her dad loved her, Jo loved her, she had all the guys at the firehouse, but Lucky? Lucky looked at her like Shannon was his entire world.
Jo always joked with her that she shouldn’t ever be with anyone who didn’t look at her with at least half as much love as Lucky did. Then she would quickly accuse Shannon of feeding Lucky scraps under the table because that was by far the easiest way to buy his affections.
Her dad and Jo were joking on either side of her as they walked too. Talking idly, occasionally making comments about their old age and how it wasn’t fair that Shannon could outpace her dad now. Always making excuses even if he winked after them. His kid was an athlete , and of course, she was going to wipe the floor with him in anything athletic. He was far past being ‘man enough’ to take that away from her. He would give her all the credit she was due. His kid would own every bit of confidence she should. He would make sure of that.
They turned off Van Cortland Park to head past Jo’s apartment. Shannon never understood why Jo didn’t just live with them. She was over at the Masters’ house most nights they weren’t on shift anyway, or Shannon was spending the night in her own room. Now being a little bit older, Shannon wondered if it was so Aunt Jo could have her own space when she wanted. Or if she ever decided to date anyone, though no one had ever really been around.
Shannon was snapped from her thoughts when the smell of smoke on the wind hit her in the face. The two career firefighters on either side of her immediately stopped their bickering to swing their heads to look for the source.
Shannon Shannon saw the plumeof smoke first. A little bit down the street, she saw it. The tall columnof dark smoke rose above the trees next to a very familiar corner. “Is that…”
“Sean.” Jo’s face flashed pale as she looked at her best friend.
Shannon was right. It was her apartment building, and by the lack of sirens in the distance… well, it just wasn’t good.
Jo took off at a sprint.
Sean looked at Shannon before following Jo.
Shannon dropped her soccer ball—
the soccer ball she’d had since she had been in middle school, it was torn to hell, but it was hers —
—it bounced on the pavement as she chased after her dad and Jo.

The Façade will always fall (Tendou x shy!reader)
Tumblr media
Y/N=your name
L/N-last name
T/N=teacher’s name
F/C=favorite color
Background: you are a first year at Shiratorizawa who struggles (quite) a bit with certain aspects of school (essay writing, presentations, being taken advantage of for projects, etc.) and Tendou is a 3rd year and was assigned to be your tutor by the school after the first one had transferred schools for a better basketball program. And you’re in a dance club.
With all of that out of the way let’s get started:
YOUR POV(1st person):
Today felt harder than usual. And by that I mean everything in my day from the small mundane things like getting out of bed and eating breakfast (which spoiler alert I did not do like usual honestly) all the way to the big test I had been grinding study hours for which made me worry I was going to have to get more help from my new tutor that I still haven’t met yet.
We weren’t even halfway through the day when I knew what the outcome of my worst classes would be. Even though I know I’m meeting my new tutor after this class I’m heading to. At least I’m supposed to meet them during lunch which gives me a decent chunk of time to work.
English
The class where I constantly had issues being the one who was too shy to make groups myself and was the one who always ended up doing all the work. Even at some points having to stutter through 90% of the presentation because my groupmates didn’t feel like contributing.
I thought about what sadistic plans my teacher had for our class while I was walking to English whether it was an essay, popcorn reading, or worst of all: group project.
I arrived at my class 2 minutes early as usual and slid unceremoniously into my seat in the middle of the room and took out my book as my peers steadily entered the classroom and also took their seats.
The first 5 minutes of class were normal with us having to write a 2 paragraph composition based on a thought provoking question and us sharing with the class what our answers were. I never wanted to share my opinions out of fear that my opinions and answers would differ from my classmates’ answers.
But right as the teacher was about to call on another student to share when the class phone rang. The teacher sighed as she walked over and answered the phone only conversing for a measly 15 seconds with her only answer being “ok I’ll send her over there now”. The murmurs spread through the class with assumptions of who it could possibly be.
When the teacher finally quenched our need to know who this lucky soul was to be able to leave:
“Ms.L/N you are needed in the office”
“Mrs.T/N may I please return here to retrieve the work later?”
“I’ll see about that, the assignment may be waived entirely” I walked hurriedly and anxiously towards the office mulling over what the reason could be for me needing to be there.
As I sat and waited in the office I finally heard my name be called by the counselor
I walked in and there was the counselor and sitting across from her is a boy with venetian red hair and a pleasant aura surrounding him.
“Ms.L/N I know you were supposed to meet your tutor during lunch but I thought it would be most beneficial for you to meet him now. Y/N L/N meet your tutor 3rd year Satori Tendou. He will be assisting you for the rest of the year.”
“N-nice t-to meet y-you T-Tendou-san.” I say as I shakily bring my hand out for a shake knowing what’s what I was trained to do. “Well it’s nice to meet you too Y/N-chan! I look forward to helping you out!”
I liked this guy already. Which was rare because 90% of the time people’s first impressions for me were not positive as people thought timid=needs to be infantilized. And he didn’t do that. All he did was show genuine interest in a genuine fashion.
“Great! Feel free to use any empty study rooms in the library. Oh and you will both be excused from your classes for the rest of the day to get acquainted with each other!”
And as they say the rest was history…
PRESENT DAY
“Alrighty Y/N-chan you can do this! I believe in you!”
“I-I don’t know a-about that what if I fail?!?!”
“With research that good it won’t matter how you choose to present it! But if the actual presentation aspect is what’s scaring you, then we can work on that! Besides, I know how excited you’ve been about this topic! You can’t give up now!”
He wasn’t wrong. I had been looking forward to researching and debating the efficacy of certain media types in regards to Ethos, Pathos, Logos in the form of persuasion.
“Why don’t we practice the wording and style of your presentation? I think practicing will help calm your nerves.”
“O-okay. Why music can enhance the efficacy of product advertisement…”
I was just winging it honestly as he looked interestingly at me while I was talking. Not speaking. Just all eyes on me flitting between my face and the computer with my slides.
“...so in conclusion contemporary music is most effective at enhancing the efficacy of product advertisement.”
“Ok that was great! You should probably tweak your introductory title to… aha! ‘Why contemporary music is the most effective advertisement enhancement.’ easy!” He said all of this as he swiftly edited the thesis of the title slide.
“Th-thank y-you T-T-Tendou-san”
“It’s no problem really. It is my job after all.” That was true. He was assigned to be with me and probably had no choice in the matter.
“So just to check again before the end of our session. Are you feeling confident about your presentation?”
“I mean I’m sure it could be better in some way or another but I think I’m ready?”
Now Tendou was NOT an oblivious guy by any stretch of the meaning and was terrifyingly observant.
“Hmm…ok if you say so” he said while squinting at me as if I was sitting across from him while playing among us and was the imposter. Everything about his facial expression screamed ‘this seems sus’
TENDOU’S POV
And with that we parted ways and went back to our dorm rooms respectively. What I had forgotten was we had dorms in the same directions and she had probably not realized that. So I just opted to tail her at a medium distance.
I noticed as soon as she thought I was gone she shifted from walking what people would consider normal and just started…trudging?
Wait
That could only mean one thing. I know that trudge as I did that too throughout my school years. That’s the gait of a person who is trying to look tired but is really just super unhappy.
But that doesn’t make any sense. I never see people harassing or bullying her around the halls or anything. But then again I know nothing about her peers in her classes. At least there’s still daylight and I know her English teacher is still here.
I quickly sprinted back to the classrooms trying to remember which room was T/N’s room.
Turns out I caught her just in time as she was just packing up her equipment.
“Ah good evening Tendou. Can I help you with something?”
“Actually yes! You see the girl I tutor is in your class right before lunch and I know she has a presentation tomorrow. So what I was wondering is if I could come in and watch her present because I know how hard it is for her.”
“Um sure? Which student are you tutoring?”
“Oh. Y/N L/N.”
“Ok fine. I have her presenting 7th overall”
“Sounds great! Thank you so much!”
“You’re very welcome”
As she was saying that I took off towards my dorm and plotted my before-school-interception mission
NEXT DAY BEFORE SCHOOL.
YOUR POV
I was going down the stairs of my dorm when I kind of just…stopped and had a wave of fear overcome me knowing my presentation was in just a few hours.
All I could think about at that point was how everyone was going to laugh at me just like last time and how I’ll fail because it got too overwhelming and I had to go not be bullied and ridiculed again.
But I kept telling myself that I practiced for this and I wasn’t going to let Tendou-san’s help go to waste because of my cowardice.
And looking at the time I realized I would have to run to get there with enough time to serve as a buffer in case something happened.
I got to the hallway where my first class was and sat down to finish up/correct any problems on my math homework since that would be easy.
So just as I finished checking over the first problem I see a pair of feet stop in front of me
“Ohayo Y/N-chan! How are you?” Tendou said as he was bending down so his eyes could meet mine
“O-Ohayo T-Tendou-san. I’m fine just reviewing some math work.”
“Sounds pretty responsible of you. I don’t know many people who just check it over more like doing it for the first time”.
“I just like to make sure I keep my grades up where I can.”
“That’s still very smart” he said as he poked my side
“Eek!”
“Oh my~is my Y/N-chan ticklish?”
Uh oh. Keep cool. Make it seem like you’re NOT flustered.
“U-uh no”
“Really? Cause that sounded like a laugh to me~”
Fuck. Busted big time
“N-no it wasn’t” I was sure this would convince him
But it didn’t
“Well then I’m sure this should be fine then!” As he proceeded to run his fingers up and down my sides
But of course a façade can only stay up for so long
“It’s fine j-just sensitive”
“While we’re at it why don’t you tell me why you seem so mopey recently”
“I-ihihihim nohohohot mohohohopehehey” fuck. Well I knew it was a matter of time
“Really cause last night you seemed kinda down” he said as he switched from just running his fingers up and down my sides to full on tickling me
“Nohohohohohohohohohohohohohoho stahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahap”
“Well well lookie at what we have here~ are you sure you’re not ticklish my little kouhai?”
“Ihihihihihihihihihi hahahahahahahahahave tohohoho keheheheheheheheeheheep workihihihihihing”  I kept trying to squirm free from his grasp and try to stop laughing and regain composure
He decided this wasn’t enough to get me to crack and let something slip so he decided to slide his fingers down a few inches to my hips and went WILD with the scribbling and squeezing
“nohoHOHOHO STAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAP PLEAHEHEHEHEHHESE”
“Oh dear it looks like my precious little kouhai can’t handle her tickles to her wittwe hips huh? Are you finally going to tell me why you’re mopey? Or shall I continue?”
“Youhuhuuhuhu cahahahahnt I hahahahahahahahahahave clahahahahahahass”
With that statement he looked up at the wall clock in front of us “oh we have plenty of time~ feel free to keep giggling though it’s like music to my ears. Or you can tell me why you’re sad and gloomy”
“FIHIHIHIHIHIHINE YOHOHOHOHOU WIHIHIHIN I’LL TELL I'LL TELL”
“Well a deal is a deal” and with that he stopped his incursion of tickles but still held on to my midsection for support in case something happened
“S-so l-last night I-I-I started to doubt my work and I had to think about my group mates and their portions of the presentation and if I-I d-don’t th-the b-b-b-bullying wi-will st-start a-again I” and I couldn’t finish as I choked up and started crying
“It’s ok it makes sense to be nervous and second guess yourself but what’s important to remember is bedtime anxiety decides nothing is good enough and makes everything seem like garbage. As for the other point you brought up about your group; fuck em. They did nothing and therefore deserve the F that is inevitably coming for them. I’m excited to see your hard work payoff and I don’t think they should get any credit.”
“B-b-but what will they think of me!?”
“Who cares because you’re my friend and I’ll be here for you. Just like you’ve been there for me when I was sad. Now the only edit you have to make is take their names off the powerpoint and you’ll be done!” As he said that he slipped my laptop out of my bag and proceeded to do just that. He even was kind enough to put a footnote saying: ‘L/N Y/N’s tutor Tendou Satori has removed the names of the people who contributed nothing to this project (・ω<)’
“Now let’s get your little face cleaned up and get you to math.”
TIMESKIP TO THE PRESENTATION
“Alrighty can L/N’s group please come up?”
And she was interrupted by Tendou slamming the door open and looking at me with something I could only explain as an excited gleam in his eyes and ran to the back of the room.
He sat at the back of the room attentively looking at me and giving a double thumbs up as well as a smile
My group mates came up with me and just as they were exiting their seats the teacher said rather suddenly “oh you three do not need to go up as L/N-san has been separated due to lack of effort on your part. Whenever you’re ready, L/N.”
And with that I started. And I winged my speech just like the day before.
Something about Tendou being there helped. Like it was just the 2 of us in that study room again and no cares in the world.
“…and with that I am happy to leave all of you with the conclusion that contemporary music is the best at enhancing the efficacy in persuading people in advertising.”
There was a dead silence for a second before the room went CRAZY. I heard loud and clear above the crowd Tendou screaming “ENCORE ENCORE! THAT WAS AMAZING”
I wanted to burst into tears from the joy 🥹
TIMESKIP TO LUNCH
“Well well well look at my perfect little kouhai who aced her presentation~” Tendou had said this as he came up to me when I was sitting alone at lunch
“H-how do you already know?!?”
“I have my ways” honestly I wasn’t even gonna question it knowing he was like a wizard basically
“Now why don't I introduce you to my friends from volleyball. I think they would really like you!”
And just like that my love story with him begun.
And that’s how this chapter of my life ended.

There's a really cute backup story in Batman #3 way back in 1940 we're talking. Where Bruce learns someone is taking kids off the street and training them to be criminals. So Bruce buys a gymnasium. Then sends Dick down to the docks and Dick throws the boys around easily and explains he learned at the gymnasium and they all hang out together. And then then they realize the kids are still swept up in crime Batman goes to fight while Dick is with the boys. And they call the bad guy a coward for pulling a gun in a fist fight. So all the boys decide they'll just go play basketball together instead. I wish we still got comics showing the direct influences Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson have on individual people. Not just broad-stroke they dumped a lot of money into city programs.
