So, I've just finished the first season of the Owl House, and i don't understand why people like Eda and call her King's mom when she is so mean?!
In the first episode alone she pokes Hooty in the eye, and says Luz is more valuable to her alive (than dead) even though Luz is clearly scared. And she tells Luz she will only allow Luz to return home if this 14 years old helps her first. Luz clearly doesn't understand the world and its dangers, yet Eda brings her and an 8 years old Kind to a prison without even explaining the tyrannical regime and the existence of the capital punishment. Idk, the vibes are really fishy there? She doesn't even want to free the prisoners in the Conformatorium and flippantly jokes about the Warden tormenting 'some tiny creature'! The impression is that she is at best a rather uncaring and apathetic person. And, as we know, there is no such thing as character development and characters always stay the same as their first appearences, so Eda doesn't value community and hates children forever.
And people say she is a great teacher, but she doesn't even want to teach Luz in the first episode. She didn't even try to think whether Luz would be able to learn magic before making a promise to teach her. And then in episode 2 she cruelly mocks a 14 years old for believing herself to be a chosen one - even King, who is a child, lately admits it was cruel - and she never learns from her mistake because in episode 6 she claims she would never trust Luz again if Luz messes up, causing Luz anxiety to the point not only Luz but also Willow and Gus believe Eda would hurt them at the end of the episode! Yes, she says she only wants them to clean her house but why did she need to pretend to seriously threaten them?
And she never truly apologizes or [verbally flagelates herself] explains how and why she changed her mind, so I am not saying you must hate her, but we can appreciate the person she becomes later, while [only focusing on imaginary bad things about her] acknowledging all the shitty things she's done! Such as: She constantly physically and emotionally (through neglect) abuses Hooty in front of children, endorses child labor, uses wages against an elementary schooler and brags about humiliating King in episode 3, cruelly mocks Gus, Willow and the Blight kids. She even said she would let the twins die by Sleetherbeast to save herself! And kinda suspicious how she knew Odalia and Alador and so must know that they are bad parents yet doesn't try to help the Blight kids. Seems like she had been complacent in their abuse for years, don't you think?
And i am not saying that i am completely against mama Eda either, but to enjoy anything involving her and King everyone must first admit that she has been emotionally negletful and physically abusive towards King. Because King doesn't even know he is a child - that's super fucked up, right? And he doesn't have any friends and thinks demons are underappreciated - and obviously it's because Eda made him feel that way, and he acts older than his age, probably because he had to act as her personal therapist. And, yes, Eda is physically abusive too, since in the episode 4 she says she would break every bone in King's body for stealing the elixir, and that can't be an unfortunate writing choice, because we must look at the scenes in isolation and chose the worst possible interpretation of the character, and if you don't see it that way that means you can't deal with admiting your fave has flaws! Also she literally ate someone in episode 2.
But don't worry, you are alowed to like Eda as long as you are agreeing with all the bad faith interpretations of her and want her to self-flagelate and every character to hate her and talk down to her. And she must experience over the top guilt that no other character has to experience, including begging for King's forgiveness on her knees. Oh, and don't forget that you absolutely must crawl into the notes for any silly fanart of her with King to whine how she 'needed to be nicer sooner' and put your Eda bashing fics in her tag while laughing how 'mama Eda stans' must hate you now! Anyway, i am going to go make a fanwork about older King realizing what a shitty parent Eda had been and he isn't sure whether he would be able to forgive her, but it's ok, she is allowed to become a one-dimensional comfort provider as long as it brings the notes in.
[i know people in the fandom looove to be obtuse so i will spell it out: this is a parody of the way toh fandom talks about Darius (and pre-season 3 Camila too, but i based it on Darius because i look into his character tags more often). I will make a serious post, but later since i don't actually want to post too much negativity about Eda.]

tw: domestic abuse, sa/rape (in general and to a pregnant woman and a teenager)
im a HUGE fan of romance books and i have sm beef with colleen hoover i could write an essay abt it
her son (allegedly) sexually assaulted a teenage girl (i think she was 16) and the girl reached out to colleen hoover (who literally writes abt women advocating for themselves in abusive relationships and claims to be very anti-abuse) and colleen ignored and blocked her
also the actual books that she writes are horrible, i’ve only read like 4 of them and ALL of them were gross and problematic. the most obvious one was it ends with us, which is her most popular. the main character marries an abusive man and the story is about their relationship and how the birth of their daughter gave her the courage to leave him BUT it was marketed as a romance book, and marketed towards teenage girls, (colleen claims neither were “supposed” to happen, but she hasn’t done very much to disprove it except when she was faced w backlash) and there were multiple sexual scenes between the main character and her abusive husband, and the whole thing was written exactly like a romance except for when they got divorced. she also made an it ends with us coloring book and got a ton of backlash so it was cancelled literally days after it was announced
another super icky book of hers was too late (i think? it’s been a while so that might not be the exact title) the main character is a college aged girl dating a super rich drug lord that routinely rapes, abuses and cheats on her because she’s poor and he pays for everything she needs including the care home her disabled brother lives at. she falls in love with the undercover detective that was tasked with gathering evidence on her boyfriend, they move away after he gets arrested but then somehow he gets out and rapes her AGAIN for literally no reason. like this was not vital to the plot at all (i use plot very loosely because there really wasn’t one. it was just a very thinly veiled rape fantasy that she couldn’t have even been bothered to make cnc or something) also i think she might have been pregnant at the time too?? colleen also claims that she hasn’t been thru any kind of abuse like this, but her mom has and that’s what inspired her to write it ends with us and it starts with us
anyways i kinda did write u an essay oops lol i just hate her so passionately and i have nobody to rant to bc all my friends either love her or don’t care 😭
tldr; she romanticizes abuse/rape and claims she’s advocating for victims while simultaneously ignoring and silencing victims is sa/abuse.
😭 the way she wrote about rape and said omg guys this is not okay!! and then her son did it and she blocked the girl 😭

I saw a woman making a misandrist account with "all men are like this, " men just want sex", "men don't see women as human", " this is universal truth about men" posts every single day multiple times over and over again for months and months while getting a Nigel at the same time who was your moid friend for years… And saying "all men want maids but my nigel is a genuine man and helps me clean"… I saw her tweets and always thought that she sounds naive, childish and mentally disabled because all nigel havers come off as that, I thought "nigel havers are twice as stupid as other women because they believe their moids to be some godlike exception". She got pregnant after two months and continued writing rageful " all men" tweets with a baby in her stomach, stressing it out with all the anger and getting *uwu congratulations on your nigel and baby" replies from other misandrists like… You can expect what happened next. She confessed that he took a condom off a few times behind her back therefore I know that this means that he never saw her as a human and just "conspired" against her like she's a meat or a toilet for his cum. She didn't even notice it. She's still with him and he is her fiance, still a "Nigel". I really think I was born with superior awareness because why I fucking knew she sounds weirdly dumb like they all? Hello what do I know? So I'm not a bitter hater making schizo accusations in my mind and it's just women who lie about their uwu romantic genuine equal relationships? What other horrible assumptions of mine are right… About issues like this they all turn out to be true no matter how insane and disgusting they were and made me sound like a gross person making up things...I got shit for it sooooo many times
But it gets worse, he pays the bills and works, she stays at home... He saw her misandrist acc and lectured her for half an hour... She sounds like her mind is underdeveloped but all het partnered women sound like this to me thats just..... So trippy, she calls her child a bean and a fool she's gonna dress up like it's not human but... A doll lol ykwim like its so childish "omg uwu I'm gonna have a little doll to dress's in cute clothes" wtffff
I was always so abused for making these assumptions abt het relationships... For 8 years now my prophecies were turning out to be true, no matter how misandrist, misogynistic, degenerate I sounded.. No matter how much of a lower people thought I am. This much time also allowed me to observe certain relationships for years and see what happens and you guess what. Worst blackpilled assumptions. Sometimes I sounded like a porn sick moid making up things but they always ended up being true also... What is my brain like this? I was always uncomfortable with womanhood.. Its like im not naive enough to let a moid impregnate me or date one but other women brains work differently. I'm so horrified and disgusted with life and uncomfortable with everything in general, I have access to the awareness women have no access too and I see male pov and I can't ignore it.... I how men conspire behind women backs but women pov brainwashed me to think its not true since they dont see what men see when they are behind their backs literally or not.... I'm terrified wtd everything is so filthy. I can't even call myself different than other women without attacks but I swear I was born with awareness they dont and can't have, I gaslighted myself about it multiple times because of the insults and attacks I got anytime I said that
my jaw fell multiple times reading this holy fucking shit
i really have no words to say
it is weird when you feel everyone around you is blind to how disgusting men are, wilfully too
makes you feel crazy

It utterly baffles me how racist LO can be on some subjects (see: Anything made in Japan that is not KH or Pokémon) and massively reverse racist on others (her hatred of "emo white boys, fetishism on POC, ect.)
Her latest bit where she said "Look for non-white authors" just rubbed me the wrong way just now. I get wanting to boost POC, but wouldn't recommending specific POC authors be a much better way to make that reccomendation than dismissing ALL white authors when that list likely has good ones too?
God I really hope I don't come off as racist by being upset by that comment. I'm a white author that writes white characters because that is what I know. I don't like my writing being automaticly dismissed over something I have no control over.
i think you're missing the point of her post. she wasn't just saying to look for non-white authors as some form of "reverse racism", she was saying that non white authors don't write tropey "abusive" romance and that's why you should choose them.
not because racism in fandom exist. not because non white author don't get in average any of the mainstream attention afforded to white authors. not because non white main characters don't get as much attention as they should. not because there are excelent, brilliant POC authors out there that you should check out because they make good art. she's right that a good literature diet should include author from different perspectives. she's right that social media around books make very little effort to be more diverse on their literature (if you have been around spaces for Booktok, booktube or similars you can't keep missing the videos/posts of people talking about this). but her reasoning is still being "POC would never write the crap nasty white women do", which is both untrue and also a massive misogyny stamp being passed off as progressive somehow. you should want to read POC authors because many of them are brilliant and you'll benefit from reading their works... not because you hate white women and what they do. not because you hate tropes. not because you think fandom and everything it does is gross. POC authors are worth reading without including any "white woman" in the discussion. on top of that, if the only reason you come out to read POC authors is because "they won't do this kind of romance" then you're bound to be miserably dissapointed. because POC are people at the end of the day, they aren't incapable of writing something bad too. at that point it's not really about POC at all. it's about primarily disparring "white women" (or people you assume are white women without any actual data, wich does result in misgendering or whitewashing people) more than anything else, a thing that LO just keeps doing about everything. she won't hear what SEA people have to say about their own culture and it's representations, because she hates a white woman more.
she won't hear what a black trans woman has to say, because she hates what a white woman does more.
she won't talk about real instances of fandom racism, because she wants to hate on a white boy more.
more than that... LO has no leg to stand when it comes to tropey and abusive romances, when she's the one who keeps creating weird power dynamics between characters that never are challenged except on the most uneffective ways possible on the narrative. on top of that... do you actually believe that LO actually tries to diversify her media intake? when all she talks about is disney and how much white girls and white women and white fictional boys ruin everything? again... you should look for POC authors, just like disabled authors, neurodivergent authors, because many out there are amazing and deserve praise. not because you're like LO and think braggin about never reading fiction outside of fanfiction for the last decade is some kind of win, instead of the reality of making you look fully inadequate to talk about literature at all.

Parasites
cw// parasites, butt stuff, medical trauma, body horror, depression, bathroom stuff, self harm, venting, don't read this tbh
I can always feel them, crawling around down there. Unseen parasites, burrowing in and around my anal cavity. They first appeared half a lifetime ago and since then I think they've become more at home in this stifling fleshsuit than I am.
I've tried everything, you know. I've declared all-out war on them, sacrificing every other aspect of my life in the vain hopes of ridding myself of them. I've gone halfway, adopting measures to combat the symptoms of their intrusion in some kind of hopeful attempt to wait them out. I've even tried giving up and ignoring them. Like a shirt you've been wearing all day or the cadence of your own breath, any sensation can be ignored if you're used to living with it 24/7, right?
But they don't sit still. They worm their way through my misshapen body, favoring the scars the surgeons had left through half a dozen failed attempts to remove them. I can feel the places where the skin rises, a decade old contusion that forgot to heal, with those horrid things wriggling about just beneath.
It's funny, in a way. After all this time, I still can't really bring myself to tell others about them. That I'm infested with anal parasites that have gnawed away at my ability to sit, to walk, to run, to defecate. It's gross, isn't it? It's disgusting.
The mental image of a trans woman in her mid-twenties sobbing on the toilet as she takes a painful shit that she knows is gonna leave her bed-bound for the next 2-6 hours... It's unpleasant, isn't it? The thought alone smells like fecal matter and dried blood.
The worst part is I can't even see them. They're hidden in my skin, in the one place that's hard for me to look even with a mirror. I don't even know what my own anus looks like, the skin down there is too deformed for me to even see it now. And yeah, that makes it a bitch to clean down there, whether it's blood or shit. Where do you think the smell comes from?
Sometimes it makes me want to take a knife to my own butt, to carve it open like the surgeons did, to get them out get them out get them out get them out get them out-
But it's not that easy, I know that. I don't want to go back to the surgeons, not after all their failed attempts. I know it will just be another scars worth of money, time, and pain. But I don't know how much longer I can ignore it either. The sudden pains, the horrid smell, the frozen position I have to lay in bed because the slightest movement feels like someone is trying to crawl out of my anus and stretch my body in half-
I have to stop. I have to stop thinking about it. I have to stop writing. I'm not getting any of this out, I'm just sticking it in the forefront of my mind, opening every door I've slammed shut in the past eleven years.
But I miss being able to run. I miss being able to use the bathroom without holding my breath. I miss not having to spend days of my life staring at the ceiling or wall, in too much pain to focus on anything else. I hate this. I hate thinking about it, I hate living through it, I hate how tired of it I am.
But I guess at the end of the day it's just what I gotta live through. It could be worse, right? It's not the worst disability to have, if I can even really call it one. It's not like I can go to my disability application bureau and tell them I have a crippled butt and expect them to understand can I?
So I just gotta make do.
Anyway, Butt's starting to hurt again. I'm gonna go lay back down. Sorry to have filled your head with these kind of images for nothing.

Why are you, a cis woman, not gay, lecturing an actual gay man on what homophobic slurs he is and isn't allowed to use?
Every TERF seems to love coming after me for reading FOB fanfic but that just reinforces what we all knew about radical feminism's inherent homophobia and transphobia. Y'all think it's bad to read fanfic because y'all associate fanfic with queer and trans people. Which is transphobic! But I don't think you care about that.
Way to go for being acephobic too! As someone who is on the aroace spectrum and is also gay + trans, fuck you. Aro/ace people are queer and if you don't like that you can die mad about it.
And you're ableist, too? Yikes.
I'm actually a lesbian, and I'm not cis.
You're not a gay man.
I love fanfic. I write it. I read it. It makes me so happy.
What you're doing is RPF, which is when you make little dollies out of men you find attractive and make them kiss and have sex because you wish you were a man who could have sex and kiss real men. It's gross, and those real people definitely did not consent to it.
Everyone's queer now, which means "queer" is meaningless. Best of luck in your straight queerness.
I'm not ableist, I'm actually disabled. You're lying on the internet about having a very serious mental illness for funsies and clout points, which doesn't make you disabled, it just makes you an asshole.
Tell me about your fictives - c'mon, you know you want to.

I’ve said this before but please just respect my wishes and stfu about me in the Luna slater thread I woke up to like 10 DMs that y’all screengrabbed some harmless compliment I left on a piece of her art to make fun of me and did I want to comment and my only comment is just please stop, I’m tired, I’m not trying to get anything or trick anybody, I’ve been permabanned from posting for almost a year, and I really don’t want to give y’all more traffic in your harassment crusade against a mentally ill woman who scammed a few people when she was still a literal teenager and has not lived it down since. Y’all are vile, you’ve literally committed multiple sex crimes in this bullying campaign and it’s not even like you have anything worthwhile to talk about all you do is make fun of her for being a little on the thicker side, accuse her with no proof of looting baby graves, make fun of her hygiene (wow a mentally ill person struggling with hygiene who ever heard of that) and wrote nasty comments about her art/writing like y’all could do any better. She’s a casual acquaintance with a few mutual IRL school friends who I’m not going to stop being kind to because of bullies. Stop screengrabbing my completely uninteresting comments to her like it is some kind of milk because it’s not and it is fucking annoying to have a bunch of people in my DMs trying to get me to respond to it like my brother in Christ I have not posted on that website for a year I want nothing to do with bullying and wishing Ill on a mentally ill disabled girl in the process of beating a heroin addiction that she’s had since her teens. I’m proud of her and happy for her, that’s a major accomplishment, that deserves positivity, not “lulz she’s not really sober because she still smokes weed and takes bars” as if quitting literal fent cold turkey while living as a member of the hidden homeless in a property with multiple active addicts and opportunities to obtain drugs isn’t impressive. Like boo hoo she buys too many skincare products and scammed some people when she was 19 that shouldn’t be open season to ruin the rest of her life and make 40 threads committed to bullying a suicidal girl, that’s literally the actions of some kind of teen lifetime after school special antagonist, how can y’all convince urselves that ur still morally in the green at this point. Like I said y’all committed literal sex crimes in the process of all this. You’re all ugly and you need to leave me out of ur ugliness because at this point I’m just done either at the very least take me off postblock or keep my name the fuck out of ur mouth but stop dragging me into this. Do not come to me seeking information about Luna slater. Do not screengrab my innocent compliment on her art and swarm on it because the gossip is slow today. Do not try to convince me to join in the harassment or send me anons trying to turn me against her. Leave me out of your gross bullshit, our interactions are the farthest thing from interesting, if u have shit to say to me my inbox is open but it’s annoying to wake up to a dozen DMs announcing with no further context that I got brought up again on lolcow or to have had at least as many people hit me up trying to sniff out Lunas new account when she deleted before the farms found it themselves like for Christ’s sake leave the poor girl alone but if you won’t do that at least leave me out of whatever fucked up Brittany Spears corn harvest sacrifice this is that you’re attempting to pull off. Like literally just fuck the entire way off. Crawl out of my asscrack. Stop acting surprised and scandalizes when I leave a nice comment on another girls art or selfie, I try to do that whenever another girl posts a selfie or original art because I like to spread positivity. We’ve established it’s something I do, and u can think it’s spergy or cringe or whatever but you don’t have to screengrab every comment I make and meditate on it as a collective as if it were the first time I’ve interacted with one of her posts. Find something better to do with ur spare time.

So much progressive-leaning media today falls into the trap of pandering, dumbing things down, and just regurgitating the target audience’s pre-established beliefs. The story beats feel like they’re lifted from a Twitter thread. Like “this movie is about Generational Trauma,” “this character arc embodies the struggles and triumphs of queer experience,” etc., but the stories themselves don’t have any spark to them. It reminds me of how in scientific research, you’re not supposed to start with a conclusion, but follow the evidence wherever it goes. I think it’s bad for art to start with the conclusion, without doing the work to get there, and doubly gross when that conclusion is just trying to score points for popularity.
Octavia Butler was very resistant to that kind of thing. I’m reminded of an interview where she gave a nuanced description of what she was trying to accomplish with her black female characters. To paraphrase, she said something like, they’re strong because I’m naturally shy, so I wanted to write my way into being more confident. But she specified, they don’t go around SAYING “I’m a strong black woman.” They just act as if they have no limitations, which helped her to be that way herself. I think a lot of media now is way too referential, too determined to be A Part of the Conversation, to have that restraint.
Inu-Oh is interesting because it does purposefully cater itself to the public, but not at all in a way that I find grating. I think it’s because it’s a work of the people—the common people, brought together by shared passion for lost stories. About stars who play for the adoring masses instead of the emperors and warlords. When they play for the powerful, they do so to reveal the truths the powerful have suppressed. It’s also an amazingly artistic film, very fresh and unique—its appeal is undeniable, one can’t fault a work for being a crowd pleaser when it pleases through true excellence. Lastly and most importantly, it’s heartfelt.
Too often, I’ve been on this website and seen someone say that this anime is politically subversive, or that show is diverse, but when I watch the thing in question, it feels unbearably fake. You can just feel the corporate boardroom meeting where the decision to lazily make a character a minority was made to try to whip up positive buzz, or even a backlash as a marketing tactic. Sometimes it’s less like the creators were totally cynical and more like they just didn’t know how to tell an interesting story or incorporate subversive elements/diverse characters into their world. But either way, I’m bored with it, tired of this kind of media in general.
But Inu-Oh is actually everything progressive people are looking for in media. I mean, it actually is a queer, politically subversive story about two disabled/marginalized people who love each other 😭 Soooo much care was put into making it feel authentic, not cliche/forced, there are real stakes, there is a real moral compass, artistic integrity, and a wonderful story which is taken to legendary proportions. All the characters, especially Tomoari and Inu-Oh, are crafted with loving attention. You really do not see something like that every day.

For the ask game :) 😈🎶🎯
Ask game
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
I don't know if I've ever been playfully mean to readers 😂 I'm either genuine, or just mean (i.e hurting blorbos, added angst, killing characters).
It's not really playful, but probably the closest example I have is this one person was obsessed with Purple/Xander, literally the biggest bigot/not-in-the-fun-way asshole™️/just downright awful character I had in the earlier part of my series and they shit all over my massively diverse/queer/disabled/neurodivergent cast of characters because I refused to give him a redemption arc, so later on I ended up taking some of their direct quotes and putting it in some of his dialogue while he was being an idiot and then I got rid of him a few chapters later.
"Perhaps you can give me some valuable insight then. Tell me about the crew."
He paused upon realizing the other man was actually trying to talk to him, "Where do I even start? Cyan is an absolute snake, don't trust that one. 'They' will backstab you. Lime is gross and has made 'gay' his whole personality. Black is creepy and a dad. Red is really fucking weird. I thought Pumpkin would be cool, but I hate her too. Yellow is okay, I guess. The Captain doesn't take anything seriously and he should have been fired ages ago. Pink is the nervous one. Uuh, honestly everyone is so forgettable. It's so hard to keep up with everyone, they might as well just be a bunch of colours with vague personality traits."
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
I'm always listening to music and I absolutely do while I write! I've got over 100 playlists and pretty well all of my characters have at least 1 song if not more.
youtube
youtube
These are two I've had on repeat a lot because this band is great for just a specific vibe I need for a current original WIP about a trans woman going into a cabin in the woods to discover herself and she ends up coming out with a trans monster girlfriend 😄
youtube
Also been listening to this one a bunch because it fits a possible WIP I have about two characters who love each other trying to find the other again and again even as their ripped apart while their realities constantly change around them, but I won't say more because it's going to be a big project that I'm still trying to figure out a format for. (Brain says show, but I don't really have access to those kinds of resources, so I might write it but I think it's going to be difficult to capture in a story.)
youtube
This one is always on repeat cause it's a major Fuchsia and Dijon song and I have so many feelings about them, but they're not showing up again for a while. I have a whole scene planned for this one though, and some art too.
youtube
youtube
And I've got a whole playlist for the Spot/Venom fanfic thing I'm working on, but these two songs I've been listening to a lot out of the whole playlist. I should probably slap the playlist down, maybe in the fic when its done.
🎯 Have any of your readers accurately guessed major plot points? Care to share which?
I don't really have readers that comment their guesses usually? Also I'm terrible for just blabbing about stuff instead of writing it, so people either know what's going to happen, or they comment that they were surprised by things! Like this comment, I love it a lot :D
"This has to be my fav fic in your Crews series yet. For context, I have binge read up to this chapter over the last two days.
Cyan having an altered imposter parasite was a fall-off-my-seat plot twist. Whoa! That explained what they were freaking out about when they had to get scanned and I thought they couldn't get their gloves off, but they weren't able to temporarily get the parasite to leave their body (because it was protecting them from the spawn of Chartreuse, but Cyan didn't know at the time). I want to go into more, but this paragraph alone is too long already."
Or I did have someone really accurately read a scene/the hints I left, which was great!
"When she flinched away from his hand the first time he went to touch her, I wonder whether he thought he'd partly reverted back to impostor form and that was what scared her? It must've been confusing for him to see her flinch away from a normal hand and realise it had nothing to do with his nature as an Impostor.
When Fuchsia comes during the night shift, it becomes clear Dijon is bad at hiding not only his strangeness, but even his ability to see in the dark; I wonder whether Orchid knows he's an Impostor. If so, mentioning she'd kill Pantone if she had a chance might've been an indirect approval for Dijon to get rid of him."
And the only other closest one would probably be people accurately calling Black and Red as impostors in V-Crew, but I wasn't really trying to hide that one 😂

music- sia’s movie
originally written on jan 24 2021
I can’t believe i’m writing about this. again.
So, if you didn’t already know, Sia directed a movie about an autistic girl, starring Maddie Ziegler. This is problematic for so many reasons, including the fact that Maddie is allistic (not autistic), Sia did next to no research on autism before directing the movie, and after announcing the movie, she took to twitter and attacked autistic people voicing their opinions. But she’s done so many more awful things since. So yay, article by me, the sequel. /s
Sia has done a few interviews over the last while about her movie and has responded to criticism about it. (very badly.)
Despite her claims, Sia was never going to cast an autistic actor in the first place. She said:
“I realized it wasn’t ableism [Casting Maddie]. I mean, it is ableism I guess as well, but it’s actually nepotism because I can’t do a project without her. I don’t want to. I wouldn’t make art if it didn’t include her.”
It was also found that Sia said had written a film for Maddie a long time ago- in 2015- which almost certainly means she never had any intentions of casting an autistic person.
The plot of the movie, and a clip have both been leaked since the release of the trailer in November.
‘Music’ falls back on harmful Hollywood sterotypes again, and again- but yet, after it was no longer fresh news, almost nobody but the autistic community was talking about it. It’s still set to be released soon this year, but stereotypes such as ‘autism = special/savant abilities’ as seen in Rain man, and ‘Autistic people don’t have feelings’ - are ones that lead to underdiagnosis, and biases in the professional world.
“We are particularly alarmed that Sia has said it would be ‘cruel’ to cast a nonspeaking autistic person as an actor. It suggests that she thinks that autistic people don’t understand our own lives and aren’t the people who should be telling our own stories. When people tell stories about autism that cut out an autistic point of view, when storytellers view us as objects to tell inspirational stories about, or when autism is treated as a narrative device rather than as a disability community full of real people, the stories that are told fall flat, don’t speak to our reality, and are often harmful to us.” -Zoe Gross, ASAN
Sia refused to refer to her main character as disabled, and only used the term ‘special abilities’ which just further proves how these sterotypes affect people’s view of autistic people. In today’s society, autism is a disability, and that’s not a bad thing. She also described the film as “Rainman, the musical- but with girls”
There are several meltdown scenes in the movie, and one of them has been leaked in a clip. In this, Music is having a meltdown in a park, and she is then held in prone restraint. Meaning she was jumped on top of and pinned to the ground. This was not only unnecessary, but potentially deadly. This film is going to be big, if it gets released, and it was very much made for a neurotypical audience’s enjoyment. People will likely see this movie, and think that restraining an autistic person is ok. It’s not. This is how people get killed. Recently a story came up about Eric Parsa, a 16 year old autistic boy who was killed at the hands of the police last year, after they used this ‘technique’ on him.
Regarding this scene Sia said, “If they [cinema-goers] watch the movie, it will allow them to touch into their compassion. That scene was so important to me, because of all the people staring. I felt compelled to put it in.”
This is why people need to listen and learn from actual autistic people. There’s so much dangerous misinformation out there, and it’s unacceptable. There is nothing ‘compassionate’ about harming people, and autistic people are people. i.e people who deserve the same rights and dignity as everyone else.
Sia continues to further dehumanize autistic people by constantly talking about ‘levels of functioning’. humans are impossibly complex, and there’s no one way to function. In an interview with Sia, nonspeaking autistic people are compared to ‘inanimate objects, like wigs’.
Sia also said “People functioning at Music’s level can’t get on Twitter and tell me I did a good job either.” This is untrue, firstly because, again- there’s no one way to function, and just because a person can’t speak, doen’t mean they don’t have a right to opinions, and feelings (and it definitely doesn’t mean they should be compared to ‘inanimate objects’), and secondly because many nonspeaking autistic people have taken to twitter and social media to tell her she’s done a bad job, she’s just chosen to ignore and insult them.
This whole thing is so infuriating, and it’s very obvious that Sia does not care about autistic people.
“Sia being ableist AF while claiming she meant well is some serious abled savior bullshit. I can’t believe so many people green-lit this project & the press team approved the ‘special abilities’ language. Disabled people clearly weren’t part of this production team.” -Kristen Parisi via twitter
She also claimed she decided to make the movie because she was inspired by a 16-year-old named Stevie that she met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. “Stevie used to sit next to me in the front row at my AA meetings. He was low-functioning and on the spectrum with echolalia; he’s the reason I wanted to make this movie,” she said. Autistic people don’t exist simply to be inspiring or make you feel good about yourself. We’re people, who just want to go about our lives, the same as anyone else- we don’t need a cure and we don’t need to fit people’s idea of what autism is, just let us be, please.
Finally, I’m just going to touch on the question ‘Why isn’t any criticism being directed at Maddie?’ This is because she likely didn’t have much say in the film at all. Keep in mind that she was only 13/14 at the start of this project. Sia also said Maddie was worried that people would think she was mocking autistic people. The film is a mockery of autistic people, but Sia is at fault.
“She had researched her role for two years, we watched movies together, and I taught her the nuances and ticks I had observed from [a] friend [with autism],” Sia said. “We did this in the most sensitive and respectful way.”
I can confirm that that is very much not sensitive and respectful- not to mention that Maddie also watched autism meltdowns as a part of her reseach too (filming a meltdown is incredibly dehumanizing) , but the fact that she learned how to ‘act autistic’ from sterotypes, taught to her by a person who just, doesn’t know anything about autism is awful, but also quite absurd. It makes no sense.
No, I do not wish to watch an abled-bodied actor wear my stims like itchy clothes. A caricature of my being.
No, I do not want to see her dance around in skin not her own, profiting from a life not her own.
No, I do not wish to support yet another film that will profit off the lives of disabled bodies without one disabled body involved. -tiffany hammond
I recieved quite a bit of backlash when I posted the first time about why casting a nondisabled actor for a disabled role is bad- from allistic people, so if any of you are reading this as nondisabled people- I literally do not care if you disagree, you don’t get to dictate how autistic people feel. Try a little harder to get out of your own head and see things from another person’s perspective xx
Now, for the love of God, please don’t watch this movie if it comes out in February, and listen to Autistic voices. : Here is a thread of positive autistic representation instead :)

"my own post"
hey guys.
so i was inspired by a lot of nice people to write my own post about the mistreatment of disabled people by society. buckle up, it's gonna be a long one.
thanks for the inspiration , @tylenol-milk-tranny @anyroads@reverendyoda @ghostslip and others.
so. i believe that society as a whole is treating disability and disabled people with a lot of bias, zero tolerance and a lot of times hurting us, be it intentional, or unintentional. a lot of us are not well received in their spaces, or outright closed out of those spaces they are not accessible. and we are ridiculed, laughed at and hurt on a daily basis.
and by disability I mean physical and mental disabilities, autism, mental health issues, people living with chronic health conditions or learning disabilities, and I believe there's a lot more that doesn't come to mind now.
people are not educated about our problems, our experiences and that turns to hurtful comments, abuse, negligence, and way less opportunities.
we are belittled and laughed at, we are a lot of times hurt by our families, our peers, the people who should be helping us, taking care of us.
There are men, women, nonbinary and trans folks, kids and elderly people, and everyone in between who are struggling with this.
@tylenol-milk-tranny wrote a very nice post to support his fellow disabled men, I butted in with the notion that we are all in the same shoes, but I was not aware of their specific problems, and the discourse going on within their groups. my bad. i want to learn more about it.
he wrote (and I hope he will be not angry if I quote him here, because I've found this so powerful):
"Some of us just need a little extra help with stuff and that's okay. It doesn't make you a bad person, and it doesn't make you any less of a man. You deserve to get whatever support you need without being judged or belittled for it."
Disabled men deserve all the support, and all the respect. Disabled women deserve all the support and respect. Disabled people all along the spectrum deserve the respect and support.
and @ghostslip, You said "jfc advocating for "community" when disabled women are treated better than disabled men. Not everything is about YOU."
tbh some women (thin, white, cis women) might experience a little less harassment about their disabilities, but oh, they are hurting me a little bit less, is not the goal i believe. we can do better than that! (and I am actually a not too thin cis white woman, and believe me it sucks enough as it is. like. a lot.)
in fact i AM advocating for community. not for disabled women's community. a community of us all. and I am definitely not advocating AGAINST anyone. I don't know how I came across as disrespectful or hurtful, and I am sorry if it seemed like that to you. I respect all men who are struggling with stuff in their lives, and I would stand with you without question. As I would stand with anyone. if anyone is an asshole to you for being a disabled man, tag me and I will rip them to pieces if they are disrespectful.
we have a lot of people mistreating us, a lot of people not understanding what our experiences are in this world built for able bodied cis het neurotypical people. preferably white too.
and they are trying to turn us against each other.
we are divided, we are bitter, we are hurtful to each other too sometimes.
I would like to start a discussion. we could learn from each other, how our point of views and experiences differ. and how they are the same sometimes.
and how can we help each other.
I helped a lot of my guy friends take a look at their mental state and come to terms with how their "laziness", "inability to keep up with their chores and other stuff", "gross greasy hair and BO" might be coming from something that they were not aware of, and that they should have never been shamed for that. I helped them to get to a doctor, to therapy, to a psychiatrist and start a journey to understand themselves and heal.
(and believe me, I was called lazy all my life, my flat is such a mess most of the time that i cannot invite over "normal people", cause i don't want the comments. that includes most of my family. I was ridiculed by fellow women, who were supposed to be my friends for "being gross, disgusting" because i didn't get rid of my bushy eyebrows and didn't shave my leg. or i didn't shower for days. I've been there. a lot of us ladies been there too.)
so what I could do is that I sometimes cooked meals and invited these guys over, when I had the means and energy. and sometimes they picked up groceries for me when i was unable to get out of my flat. sometimes I went over to my gal pals and helped them get to an appointment they were not able to get to by themselves, and sometimes they came over to dig me out of the filth of my own apartment.
there are differences in our experiences but there are a lot of similarities too.
I would like us to work together, and at least don't hurt each other. we got hurt enough by everyone else.
Please don't accuse people of being hateful, who are actually agree with you, and would stand beside you against the mistreatment of others.
and you know what? it is actually fucking inspiring to see you guys standing up for each other. go for it! having peers who actually understand you is a powerful social net. we are way better off than disabled people 20-30 years ago without the internet where you can find people like you, struggling with the same problems.
I would just propose that if you don't want someone to interact with your discussion, please note it with a DNI.
we are not against each other. I am not against anyone.
so I would like to ask people to be as respectful with me as I was respectful with them.
peace.

figured u might be able to answer this, so: what is the best werewolf media? especially if it has lesbian/sapphic werewolves but honestly i'm not too fussed. also i prefer books to films/tv shows but again im not too fussy. i just think werewolves are a neat idea but i haven't really consumed any media containing werewolves except for h*rry p*tter
yes! anon, i am your woman. werewolf media in general is either like - the best, or the stupidest. it depends on where people’s priorities are and generally i don’t think people understand what is great about werewolves in fiction.
did you know that the supposed first werewolf film (”the werewolf” from 1913) is about a navajo woman who becomes a witch that transforms into a wolf to kill white settlers? every werewolf narrative that is NOT transgressing lines of society, poverty, disability, gender or desire is failing absolutely.
but also - you need a nasty transformation scene that makes your skin crawl and you have got to have the guts to GO THERE. anyone else read hemlock grove? i’m not putting it on this list because the book itself is Not amazing but that werewolf scene?? i still think about it. so gross.
in any case - here are some next-level-tier werewolf stories for you to enjoy & be grossed out by:
mongrels by stephen graham jones - the thing sgj does best is take the broad tropey concepts from a genre of horror and make them feel gritty and real and lived in. a werewolf story about family and poverty and indigenous identity. also just a good yarn. top of this list for a reason.
the devourers by indrapramit das - queer south asian speculative fiction & it is both gross and sexy as hell. please read this book.
the bloody chamber by angela carter - short story collection of reinterpreted fairy tales and totally metal
the cycle of the werewolf by stephen king - not his best work by any stretch but it does some compelling things with blame and intention that i like
“twilight in the towers” by clive barker (in the cabal short story collection) - he’s certainly not for everyone but when clive gets it, he gets it
ginger snaps (film) - THE werewolf-as-teen-girl transgression movie!
an american werewolf in london (film) - kind of the classic werewolf movie but imo it holds up
good manners - a brazilian lesbian horror werewolf melodrama
penny dreadful - i was just thinking about my darling werewolf cowboy ethan chandler yesterday!
this isn’t any of those things specifically but my pal marisa is writing a series on werewolf narratives as queer allegories -- it looks at some of these stories and others and is fascinating and great! read it here.
objectively - the greatest werewolf narrative ever written is “der volf” (”the wolf”) by yiddish poet h. leivick. after his shtetl is destroyed and his community murdered, a rabbi transforms into a monster. he begins to take revenge on other jewish refugees who move into his destroyed town. a meditation on trauma, guilt, jewish identity and monstrosity that was written in 1920 but could have been written this year. but - it’s in yiddish and translations aren’t easy to find so -- good luck with that.

Gay and Tumblr etiquette: a guide
This is a compilation of rules that keep the lgbt community a safe space for all. A lot of the older gays are getting sick of seeing recycled bigotry, and we’re here to tell you what the general opinions are in the real world. Some of the content in this post contains not necessarily gay content, but cay culture. Gay culture is all about the lack of heteronormative toxicity, the promotion of critical thinking, teaching the youth that they need to rely on themselves and friends instead of the government, because the government doesn’t really care, and the abolition of White Christian ethics being forced onto people.
You need to read this essay. [x] You need to know your history. It’s important, you need to know it. This is the baseline you need to know. ACAB.
If you want to know more than just the baseline: [ here ]
Don’t debate transphobes, racists, or n@zis. Don’t debate them, block them. Do not reply. You are giving them a place to express themselves. This emboldens closeted racists and transphobes. Don’t do it.
If you disagree with someone who isn’t any of the above, carefully consider their argument. Could they be right? Is it a lesson that you’re just not ready for? Block them, ponder their words, and consider your stance on the subject. Only a fool walks away from an argument more convinced than ever that they are correct.
Pedophiles are not in the lgbt community. Pedophilia is not a kink nor is it a sexuality. It has been proven to be a mental illness in which the brain is shaped and ordered incorrectly.
“Queer” Is not an inherently harmful term. It is a term that the community has reclaimed, and many people identify as queer. By calling someone who is queer “gay” or policing THEIR right to be called queer, you are erasing history. Queer is a term that people have used in the lgbt community since before stonewall. Queer isn’t your term to take away, especially if you’re not queer.
“Gay” Is an umbrella term. If someone LIKES being called “gay”, no matter what the complex rules of their attraction are, respect it. Don’t insist that they belong in a certain box according to your definition of different sexualities.
If someone is questioning their sexuality, don’t push them. The point is for them to FIND OUT what they’re attracted to, and what they like best. Whether they turn out to be gay, straight, bi, or ace, leave them the hell alone. Especially if they’re a kid.
“Terfs” used to be called “political lesbians” because people who were not wlw would take over lgbt spaces and advocate to “kill all men” and would point actual wlws against men. This is terrible. Bisexual wlws deserve to express their sexuality fully without judgement. Trans lesbians deserve to express their gender without judgement. ANYBODY who is amab or trans, or attracted to amab or trans people, deserves a safe place to express themselves. We got rid of these “political lesbians” and stopped them from poisoning the minds of bisexuals and trans men. We can do it again.
(” queer is a slur “ was started by terfs. stop saying it if you’re not a terf.)
Nonbinary is not a fad. Nonbinary people have always existed. It is not new, and you are not allowed to police other people’s gender.
There are a lot of things to gender as a whole. Your gender, what you identify as, is a large part of your identity. Some people identify as female, some people identify as male, and some people identify as neither, both, or any combination of any other genders! This may be confusing, but that’s okay. You don’t need to completely understand someone’s gender, and someone may not even understand their own! What IS important is that you respect their gender expression.
Gender expression is mostly just two things. Pronouns, and Presentation. Pronouns (He/She/They/Xhey/Ect) are for the person who has them. Pronouns don’t have to “match” your gender. Your presentation doesn’t have to “match” your gender, either. It’s all about your comfort. You don’t have to understand someone’s gender identity, but you DO have to respect their name and pronouns. Always.
Mogai is a great term, even if it’s not popular. Mogai is an all-inclusive term for all people who are not allocishet.
Being ace does not make you straight. Being aro does not make you straight. Straight = You are actively and wholly attracted to the opposite gender. It is the lack of attraction to the opposite gender that includes them in the community, as well as the constant harassment from both straight and gay people for being “broken”
“Femboy” Is not an inherently harmful term. Calling a trans woman a “Femboy” without her permission is. People who use the term to refer to themselves, or to refer to people who are comfortable with the term, are not infringing upon anybody. You need to stop taking away terms from gay people because of what transphobic pieces of shit do. Yes, shitty transphobes refer to trans women in porn as femboys. This doesn’t mean that who the term was ORIGINALLY meant for, which is, gay feminine men, can’t use it to describe themselves. This is far too similar to “queer is a slur” for me to change my mind on this. A lot of people identify as femboys, and use the term for their comfort, leave them alone.
Truscum and Trumeds are gross. Their entire personality is built off of policing other trans people’s identities. They want trans people to act like they’re cis, and conform to heteronormative societal standards. Their opinion is that it’s flamboyant trans people’s fault that cis people are transphobic. Which is simply not true. Transphobes are Transphobes because they’re bigots. It is never, in any shape or form, the fault of the oppressed for being oppressed. Ever.
Your love for the oppressed should come before your hatred of the oppressor. This does not mean that you expressing your hatred is “performative” in any way. You’re allowed to hate the oppressor, verbally, and often, so long as you, personally, know which is more important.
It is not okay to call people out. Calmly talking to people, or simply blocking them, is best. It is not okay to send hate anons. It is not okay to interact with bigots willingly. It is not okay to do something that is mean-spirited.
Be gay do crimes. (As in, fuck the police, they’ve always been against every minority. Including us.)
Disabled people are beautiful and loved. All gay spaces should be accessible.
The people that lead the protest that sparked lgbt rights across the world were black trans women. Remember that. Remember it good and well.
Autism isn’t shameful. People with autism are worthy of respect and admiration.
Punk culture is antifa and gay culture. Bigots like punk fashion, and dress in punk fashion. We call these people “posers” and they should be beaten if spotted being a bigot at a punk function. Punk culture is all about being against the systemic oppression of the lower class and marginalized. Many punks go to protests for human rights and better work qualities.
It is neve okay to police someone else’s identity. Period.
It is never okay to police someone’s kinks. Pay attention to actual abusers and rapists, not fictional and 100% consensual scenarios.
Child touchers get their heads bashed in with baseball bats.
It’s not okay to bully people for shipping anything. Yes, anything, including abusive ships. Quit telling people to kill themselves over fictional people. What you SHOULD be worried about, is straight white boys who romanticize REAL abuse towards REAL people, not people just minding their own business and expressing themselves via FICTIONAL characters. Don’t tackle ships, tackle rape culture in real life. Go outside.
It is never okay to police someone’s writing, art, or artistic expression. Yes, dark and violent content included. The idea that you can be punished for thoughts or expression of thoughts, regardless of if you’ve ACTUALLY harmed anyone, is white and Christian purity culture. If you think this is okay, read this: [x]
The above is in the same mindset of soccer moms that say “people who play video games are inherently violent” which is simply not true at all. Here’s an interesting post on a similar topic that will interest you: [x]
Just follow lace code. Doc martens have a lace code in the punk community, If you’re not a racist, follow the lace code.
mosh pit etiquette [x]
more about gay punk: [x]
That’s all I could think of for now! Any other queer elders wanna have a stab at it?

I Spit on your Grave (1978) has to be one of the most grossed-out exploitation films I had ever seen before in my short and limited life. Just watching it in my upstairs bedroom, window open and all, made me turn down the volume because of my elderly neighbors might hear it. God forbid if they would've thought I was raping a rather attractive young woman with too many cavities four times with a bunch of heck actors that probably amuse themselves watching this filthy turd and wanking it with their greasy palms, oh yeah, there you go, baby. Maybe they would have thought porn. Porn. Can't barely see the distinction between that and this movie. Either way, I wouldn't want my parents walking in on me watching it. Don't want another Last House on the Left misunderstanding, now do we? Anyway, quick synopsis, take a deep breath... Girl from a somewhat civilized area(Manhattan aka the City), ventures to the woods for isolation so she can write her future best selling novel, which is probably about feminism. Along the way to her secluded cottage, she makes a pit stop at some rundown gas station that employs the most charismatic rapist that you would ever gaze upon. He swaggers and smirks with the best of 'em. Anyhow, he has these two neanderthal miscreats that seem like harmless woodland people from the movie Deliverance hangout with him while he works. That seems pretty damn cool when you think about. Not the idiots that turn into sex crazed maniacs. No. The fact that he'll allow his best friends chill in his workplace. That leader rapist guy earned himself some brownie points. Getting sidetracked now. Sorry, one more guy to introduce then we'll get back to the review, if you have made it this far. Coherentsy is not my forte. The last member of this R Team (I'll allow you to interpret what the R stands for), is some mentally disabled guy that could have starred in some family sitcoms with his personality the way it is. He is a virgin. Keep that in mind. He delivers groceries to her cottage and ask her to be his girlfriend and she somewhat accepts by using some writer wordplay which pretty much puts him in the friend zone. He is happy, blazes off to see the trio, and then the whole movie begins to become a nightmare afterwords. The mentally challenged guy goes on a fishing trip with his mates and one thing leads to another, someone mentions something about sex, another one about shit, mumbles about virginity, and so forth. The audio sucks on Tubi. They make a plan like Ocean's Eleven to lead the girl into the woods and rape her. She struggles many times. Once the horror is over it resurfaces many times again a few minutes later. Eventually this rape fest ends, with her lying broken, psychologically damaged and unequivocally messed up on the floor in her lovely cottage. They head towards their boat, moored at some majestic lake(Funny how woods and lakes make for fantastic rape settings, don't you think), when their ringleader gets a rather brilliant idea of using the mentally handicapped guy to murder the girl. Outta all the men at his disposal, why would this nimrod ask this 12 year old in a man's body to murder someone is beyond me and my humble understanding of this film. The intellectually disabled guy participated in the rape with his friends earlier, so he feels that he is obligated to carry out this heinous deed, grabbing the knife from his charming ringleader and wobbles to the cottage to murder the woman. He doesn't do that and thus will be the catalyst for the whole killing spree for the last 20 or so minutes of the film. Lets really cut to the chase. She lures the mentally deficient guy to the edge of the woods, stopping at the rim of the lake. They have sexual intercourse(This to me at this point is straight-up porn at the moment, with him cumming then dying would have to be the way that some men out there would want to leave this world. I'm a conflicted soul on the subject). After he cums inside her, she summons the strength of an Amazonian goddess and hangs him from a rope, using a tree as leverage. Next target on
the Kill Rapist hit list is the ringleader. This death is probably the reason why the movie is still being watched to this day. He unwittingly thought that the girl came back to the gas station to have some more sexual intercourse with him. He thought wrong and somehow winds up in the woods naked and begging for his life since she has a gun on him. By the powers of voodoo magic, they end up in a bathtub together, having a ponographic 70s movie conversation that usually ends with shots of hairy body parts lying in bed together. She cuts the dude's wanker off with a kitchen knife and leaves him to die, making all men who watch the movie grab and shield their precious manhoods. The other two die of stupidity and then the movie ends. REVIEW: The director, Meir Zarchi, made this movie with almost all the right intentions but just felled flat with the presentation and the overall themes that he wanted to convey to the audience. He is an exploitationist. He shouldn't even had made this movie. How are you gonna make a movie about rape and retribution, self-empowerment and feminism, if the movie is embedded in the Exploitation genre? Most movies in that revenge and rape subgenre are meant to give men like myself hard-ons, so we would want to watch them, then feel ashamed about it afterwards. If that wasn't what it was meant to do then why is it an exploitational film? The movie already conflicts with itself on that point. Morality is a key component in the movie. The Rapers lack the moral solidarity to fight against their wicked desires and decides to act on them. The girl, in a blazing silent rage, ignores the true meanings of justice and replaces them with the ones that makes her feel better. Everyone is exactly what they truly are: Retarded. She should've contacted the police as soon as she was able to. Johnny should had never gotten into that bathtub. Stanley should have taken those swimming lessons from Camp Crystal Lake last summer. Andy needs to stop pretending he's a licensed firemen. Matthew needs to become a white Steve Urkel on a family sitcom. The whole movie and review is all over the place. The best actor that they got for the movie wasn't even in the movie. Demi Moore is on the poster and she would probably make for a better victim then someone like Camille Keaton, which is not to say that she doesn't have her own merits. She is just too much like a model or something. Imagine if the movie had a protagonist that was slightly overweight, had permed hair, big-rimmed glasses and didn't look like a fashion model. Imagine that. Would be more impactful would you think? Like rape can happen to ugly girls as well. Less exploitation in my opinion, more of a public service announcement my way. A warning about rapers. Can strike anyone, not just beautiful--beautiful white women. The violence(Which is also deeply rooted in the exploitation genre), is really tamed by most bloodied standards. The movie wasn't a gore fest... Whatever, next. The infamous rape marathon scene could have been shorter, but I guess the director wanted to find any means to justify this woman's rampage on her tormentors. She goes from one rape scene to the next. Once you thought it was over, another begins again. She goes through a lot. I find myself wondering what was the cinematic significance of the men raping her one at a time, her getting closer and closer to home, and finally ending at the cottage. Maybe it was saying that rape can happen anywhere. I don't care now. The movie sucks. The reboot has a boring color filter. The second movie tries too hard to be violent. The third movie appeals to Russians and Ulkrainian people. The forth movie doesn't make sense. Thank God for small favors though; at least Meir Zarchi didn't have a great career afterwords. His picture isn't even on Wikipedia.

you: complain people only ship sansa wit hot men and call em shallow you: never write smut of sansa in the ships u defend as not shallow but instead write lot of jb smut uhhhhhm
my dearest anon, I would quite like to point out to you that your reasoning is entirely not logical/consequential and that your argumentation honestly is... something, because first of all I never complain that people only shipped sansa with hot guys. sansan was the most popular asoiaf ship back in the day and it’s not like sanrion doesn’t have numbers, like... I never said people don’t ship sansa with nothot guys the way I was like ‘yeah but no one writes jonsam’ back in the day. I was specifically discussing the fact that a lot people who don’t ship either sansan or sanrion go harassing the shippers because they’re supposedly shipping smth horribly problematic when their own ships are problematic for the exact same reasons (see: if you complain sandor or tyrion are too old but then ship sansa/jaime when jaime is older than both of the other your argument makes no sense) and when they’re problematic for other reasons that they downplay it (I mean you can tell me that sansan is problematic for a shitload of reasons I can raise you that j*nsa is incest in two different ways) therefore creating a shit fandom climate where if you ship sansa with either sandor or tyrion and you have plenty of textual reasons to that grrm has put there then you get told you hate sansa or don’t understand the text... when then a lot of those other shippers basically grab the stuff your ship is about and applies it to theirs when it makes no sense instead of just liking theirs for what it is. also sorry but no one wants to get told that their own thing is ohsohorribleandproblematic by people who sanitize stuff that’s problematic af from the get go (see: sansamarg), but what have you.
I also never discussed the issue of writing smut and I don’t get what jb has to do with it - is it because you mean ‘you write porn just including hot guys and not sandor and tyrion’, because then you didn’t go on my ao3 where I have at least three sansan smut pieces [and I write sansan less than jb because back in the day sansan was wildly popular and jb was not and I happen to be more interested in jb and I leave sansan to people who have their main interest there but it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it when I have the right idea!] there, > da mi basia mille, deinde centum, dein mille altera, dein secunda centum, somebody to love, for your sweet kiss is all I wish to be owning :) and I wrote porn with sandor and jaime too at some point just fyi, and when it comes to tyrion... surprise, as I ship sansan and I only write sanrion on request/for friends (because again... sansan is my main sansa ship and I like sanrion and I’d be entirely okay if it was endgame but it’s not a ship I have IDEAS™ for) I don’t generally go there for smut buuut.... spoilers, my #1 tyrion ship is with bronn not with sansa and *checks* out of the three fics rated explicit on that tag where they’re the main ship two are mine and I wrote it also not explicit so like I don’t think you can go and say I don’t write porn with tyrion, I do... just with someone I ship him with more than sansa X°DDDDDD and again my problem isn’t the porn quantity for whichever ship, my problem is that going around saying that us or sanrion shippers are perverts bc we dare ship sansa with supposedly gross old men when calling gross two guys who a) are disabled b) have trauma c) were actually better to her than anyone else that wasn’t related to her is admittedly iffy and reeks of ableism a whole damned lot doesn’t make you look progressive. nor it makes you look progressive saying that theon is a good alternative for her bc he can’t hurt her and they’re referencing to that thing that’s only show canon which honestly.... if you say that a dude wouldn’t hurt a woman because someone castrated him while torturing him it’s not the progressive take anyone thinks it is and I’m going to leave it there because idt it needs further explaining honestly
and the fact that I write a lot of jb smut has no relation to any of this because guess what... it’s my m/f otp for these books and the m/f thing I shipped more in my entire life never mind the only one I ever found one character in relatable for personal reasons so of course I’ll write it more than others? and it has absolutely zero relation to however much porn I write for other ships X°D anon honestly if you want to argue at least read my actual argument? because this isn’t the jonsam situation where we all know that if sam was standard hot nerd the ao3 tag wouldn’t be stuck at 132 fics, it’s something else entirely X°D

Another Top 10 Male TV Characters (In no particular order)
I posted something like this before but I added some favorite characters and I had to get my feelings down in writing :) You can read my other post, but in summation, the characters I mentioned before were: Gilbert Blythe, Lenny Bruce, Logan Echolls, Mike Wheeler, Steve Harrington, Shawn Spencer, Burton Guster, Stanley Barber, Luke Danes, and Jim Hopper.
Pacey Witter (Dawson’s Creek)
I’ve found that my top 3 favorite male characters have something in common. They’re all funny men with a deep sadness underneath. Logan Echolls, Gilbert Blythe, and Pacey Witter. Pacey is such a kind guy. He is so caring and comforting. He is also so funny, snarky, and sarcastic. But then there is that vulnerability that he has and it’s so appealing. Pacey is this strange combination of complete confidence but also having a strong streak of insecurity. There’s this scene in season 1 where Pacey opens up to Joey and tells this story of how when he was 8 years old he lost a game of baseball and his father yelled and screamed at him and called him a disgrace. The next day he overheard him tell Pacey’s brother about the events and his father said “at least I have you.” The way that Joshua Jackson delivers that is so heartbreaking and makes you want to give him a hug. Joey and Pacey are far and above the most entertaining and interesting characters in all of Dawson’s Creek.
Jim Halpert (The Office)
Jim is such an important part of The Office in my opinion. He's the type of character that all those mockumentaries need. There are so many crazy characters and they need some normal characters that you can relate to. Yet Jim is also far from boring. He's hilarious and an extremely entertaining part of the show. Also John Krasinski is the freakin best :)
Ben Gross (Never Have I Ever)
Ben  Gross is another character like Logan and Pacey who is funny and yet also has a deep sadness beneath all of it. You really don't start the season feeling too much sympathy for his character. Though I don't believe it's right to demonize Ben more than Devi. When the show starts they are very antagonistic to each other and they both say hurtful things to each other. But when Ben starts caring about Devi, he does not look back. Ben would do anything for her, even drive in bumper to bumper traffic even though he's terrified of it. In episode 6, we see Ben's home life for the first time. That's when collectively so many people started to feel immeasurably sad for Ben. He puts forth this facade at school, but we find he just a sad and lonely boy who deserves all the love in the world.
Nick Miller (New Girl)
Nick Miller is iconic. There's a reason that he was trending on Twitter 9 years after New Girl began and 2 years after it ended. I could never find the reason he was trending aside from the fact that he some classic and iconic lines and a lot of people are discovering the wonderful world of loving Nick Miller. Nick is an absolute gem and in my opinion the best character in New Girl.
Maxwell Smart (Get Smart)
Maxwell Smart is such a deservedly beloved TV character. Max and Get Smart are so important. So many of Max's lines have entered the English lexicon and taken on lives of their own, such as "Would you believe...," "Missed it by that much," "Sorry about that Chief," and "I asked you not to tell me that." He's hilarious and no can play him as well as Don Adams.
Lucas Sinclair (Stranger Things)
Lucas is such an underappreciated character. On Youtube there is next to no tributes to his character. He's always been amazing but season 3 really brought him up to a new level for me. Lucas saved the day at the end of the season. I would also say that El's humanity and how she got through to Billy helped save the day. But it was Lucas' idea to use fireworks on the monster and that was huge. Plus he had the heroes entrance. When they reveal who is throwing the fireworks and Lucas says "Flay this, you ugly piece of shit!!" It's a truly iconic line for an iconic character. Actually Lucas continually saved everyone's asses in Season 3. Also he's so funny... especially in season 3. I feel like the writers did a good job of shining a light on Lucas and giving a lot more to do. I love that we got to see Mike and Lucas' friendship as well, we've heard so much about it in past seasons, but to finally see the friendship in action was supremely important.
Dustin Henderson (Stranger Things)
Dustin is a precious ball of sunshine and must be protected at all costs. He has the sweetest smile and the kindest heart. He’s also a literal genius. If your ever in a bad mood just google his name it’s just what you need to brighten your day :) Side note. Gaten is a comedic genius already!!
Winston Bishop (New Girl)
Winston Bishop AKA Prank Sinatra!!! Lamorne is such an amazing addition to New Girl. There are so many classic Winston moments, like his love of “puzzling.” His inability to do a prank without going way overboard or not going far enough. I also love the scene where he gets the glasses that counteract his color blindness, his excitement at seeing different colors for the first time is so pure!!
Jerry Helper (The Dick Van Dyke Show)
Jerry Helper is such a dynamic person and a lot of that is thanks to the fact that Jerry Paris (who plays him) is so dynamic. I think the saddest thing about TDVDS is that Jerry had less of a big part of show as it went on, because Jerry Paris became the main director of the show. It was his dream to be a director, so i’m happy for him, but it just means that he directed more of the episodes and acted in less of them. Jerry and Millie were perfect for each other, they were both such entertaining people and I loved their relationship on the show. In a lot of shows there’s always the token couple who seems to hate each other and fight bitterly. Jerry and Millie were the type of couple who fought all the time, but the unique part is they truly love each other as well. The way it’s written you get the impression that they fight passionately but they also make up passionately.... do I need to write Jerry and Millie fanfiction? I think I do ;) Side note: were Jerry and Millie the first couple on TV to go to marriage therapy? I feel like they were, which is another way that The Dick Van Dyke Show was ahead of it’s time.
Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli (Happy Days)
The fucking Fonz!!!!! Icon!!!!! I don’t think there has ever been a more iconic character in all of television. It’s been said that after The Fonz talked about getting a library card in an episode the amount of library cards being issued spiked dramatically. Supposedly the library association said that it spiked by 500%, whether or not that exact amount is correct, it points to just how popular The Fonz was. His leather jacket is in The Smithsonian museum. But the The Fonz is not just cool, he’s also an extremely interesting character. Sadly he was abandoned by his father and by the sounds of it also his mother. He was largely raised by his grandmother since the age of 6. He dropped out of high school and he joined a gang. Fonzie is an incredible man and he adopted a son out of wedlock because he wanted to give a kid a better childhood than what he had. He truly was a symbol of kindness and he was the coolest fucking character to ever exist. He was a proponent of civil rights and advocate for people with disabilities, and he even learned sign language so that he could communicate with a woman who was hearing impaired. Henry Winkler was nominated 3 times for that role. Since then Henry has gone on to other amazing roles. He had a part in Arrested Development, he plays Jean Ralphio’s father in Parks And Recreation. And most recently he finally won a much deserved Emmy for his role in “Barry.”
